i just realized something. my player characters with bethesda-mandated family (lone wanderer gwen and sole survivor sofia) are estranged from that family. meanwhile my couriers (moz, kiwi, and avery) have pretty good relationships with their families :) that's what happens when a backstory isn't forced to your character i guess!!

gwen and james, though stuck in close proximity in the vault for 19 years, are as distant as can be. james has his work, his projects. gwen has all the turbulent drama of childhood and teenage life. they have their moments, but otherwise? nothing much. except for lectures and reprimands, they don't really talk, especially post-james and ellen's divorce. gwen has more of a relationship with ellen and butch than james.

their relationship gets worse topside, when after all gwen has done to get to james is pushed to the side because all james can think of is project purity. so after he dies, what does gwen do? let his pet project die as well. she doesn't even know what the passcode number is, when sarah lyons asks her. how the fuck would she know? her father barely told her anything. she didn't know ellen deloria wasn't her biological mom until after james divorced ellen and told gwen the truth. she's not even sure if he loved her for herself, or if he just loved her the way a parent loves their child - as an extension of themself and their values. now that he's dead, she'll never know for sure.

sofia has a good relationship with her family back home in the philippines, all six siblings and both parents and both sets of grandparents, and countless uncles and aunts and cousins of them. the problem is nate. and shaun, eventually. the thing is, sofia never imagined herself marrying a foreigner, much less a blue-eyed american soldier. she never would have married nate if he hadn't gotten her pregnant. but with abortion being illegal in the philippines, and with nate being "a true gentleman" in his words, there was little else she could do.

in boston, a shotgun wedding. which turned into a loveless marriage pretty quick, once the honeymoon phase wore off. homesickness. morning sickness. anti-asian racist microagressions from neighbors who've never met a filipino before, even though america annexed the philippines decades ago. a miserable life, freshly post-partum and friendless and jobless, all alone in a big house with only a baby and a robot butler for company. who wouldn't fall into a deep depression?

and don't get me started on shaun. sofia placed all her hopes and dreams and joys on meeting her baby boy and watching him grow up, teaching him tagalog and sharing with him all her favorite meals and memories. can you imagine how sofia felt, when he got kidnapped? when she spent her first year in the post-apocalypse relentlessly trying to find him? when she killed kellogg in her rage and grief over him? when, finally, they meet and he isn't a baby but an old man, the leader of the group she's looking to dismantle, and she realizes that he came from her but he's not of her, he doesn't know her and she doesn't know him, and she hates everything he stands for, but still she's his mother and she loves him but she'll never like him? can you imagine???

meanwhile: moz and her big family with her mothers dalisay and philomena, her big brother lakan with his wife guadalupe and their eight kids (all adopted), and her husband ulysses and their child ree, plus everyone in the painted hairs, everyone in their town whom she calls tito and tita and ate and kuya and bunso and totoy and nene :) nothing but love and understanding there!!

kiwi and their family of butchers and tailors - grandmother, father, mother, and brothers, all adept with shiny sharp things. strict but loving, in the "i want what i think is best for you" kind of way. kiwi would have stayed if their father didn't keep forcing the butchershop and their straight marriage to a family friend's daughter on them. honestly if kiwi went home, they'd find their father a changed man - he only wants kiwi to be happy, really; if wearing sequins and being the right-hand man of mr house is the key to that happiness, then so be it!

avery is an only son, raised by a single mother after his ncr ranger father died. he and his mother will defend each other to death - which is why avery set fire to his mother's asshole (now ex-)boyfriend's house when he hurt avery's mom. on the run, avery still writes letters home. he never leaves a return address until after he gains amnesty for his arson charge. by then, his return address is the lucky 38. his mom sends him one hell of a letter. the first thing he does after winning the battle of hoover dam is go home to his mom :)

you wake up to the sound of a buzzing alarm clock causing youre head to pound. you roll over turning it off and stare at the ceiling trying to remain awake.

you were never really a moring person, you like nights better than the moring. At night its far more calming and peaceful than in the moring. Full moon nights were the best. youd often go out of the city, into the woods where you have a little cabin that youre grandparents used to own. about a couple miles away from the cabin, deeper into the woods, lies a beautiful lake where the moonlight reflects on the water and illuminates the surrounding area. youd often go there once a week to get away from the hustle and bustle of the college campus.

today was friday so that meant you could go there after class and you couldnt wait.

pulling youre sheets off of you and heading into the bathroom where you already miss the warmth of youre bed,you force youre self to take a cold bath since that always woke you up. after youre done with youre shower you look at the time.

"6:00"

realizing you will probaly be late for class you quickly throw on youre favorite oversized shirt and mom jeans along with a pair of boots that youre mother once owned.

"i wonder how mom is doing lately" you wonder while putting on the pair of boots

on youre way to class you bought a couple of donuts and a coffee. you never liked coffee but that was the only thing you could afford at the time and it was cheap so you forced your self to drink the bitter beverge and head to class.

"Y/N" you hear youre name so you turned around. "wait for meee, i missed youu so muchhh" you look at the brown haired girl."Uraraka you saw me yesterday stop being dramatic" you say sarcastically to youre best friend. "this isnt good...im not fine." you think about dabi and his face, how he haunts youre dreams, youre thoughts, youre life. you never realised when this happend. at the beginning of the semester when you heard that the devilishly handsome looking man would be in youre class you couldnt help but feel a bit exited. when you got to class that day and sat in the back like you always do to avoid people he came and sat right next to you.

"goodmoring angel" he said in a deep sexy voice. youre cheeks grew red

"goodmoring." you say back in a shaky voice. that nickname and deep voice did something to youre insides and youre core. that day you couldnt focus on anything the teacher said. instead you kept admiring him.

since that day he sat next to you everyday becoming even more attractive, if that was even possible. you look forward to going to class now too and today isnt any diffrent. entering class you look around and take youre seat where you usually sit waiting for youre dark prince to show up. but he never did.

the entire day you hadnt seen dabi nor heard from him. you missed him and started to grow worried. durning luch you felt down cause he wasnt there. "where is he? is he hurt? sick? did and accident happen?" you frantically start to overthink. in search of awnsers you head over to Ochako's class. you remeber her saying dabi's brother, shoto sits in her class so you decide to go ask him about it. on youre way there you passed the headmasters office where you hear a fimiliar voice. taking a peak through the window you see dabi talking to the headmaster."whats he doing here?" you wisper to your self.

"i wont be able to come to school for atleast 2 weaks...somthing came up in my family and its urgent." 2 WEEKS?! he will be gone for 2 weeks you felt sad,confused, angry. why was he leaving for 2 weeks? what happend in his family? will he be alright? will he ever come back? you felt light headed so yu decided to head home. you felt torn on the inside and you had a splitting headache. arriving home you took a hot bath and layed in bed thinking about today and how you wouldnt be able to see dabi for the next 2 weeks. not to mention you got alot of unfinished homework and assigments left you didnt do. this was all too much. you decided to forget all about everything and go to the cabin where you could relax and do youre work in peace. you took out youre suitcase threw some clothes in and headed out.

when you arrived at the cabin it was already 5:00 it was about to get dark. you took out your suitcase and keys and headed inside the cabin. it was a neat looking,2 story tall cabin with a nice porch outside and beautiful garden. going inside you head upstairs to the master bedroom where you just threw your self on the bed. you where exausthed. you probably should have taken a bath but you didnt have the strenght. slowly you feel youre eyelids getting heavy and drifting into sleep.

you woke up around 4:00 am that night feeling better. you head downstairs to drink some water, since you couldnt sleep anymore. after that you headed to the upstairs balcony and started into the silent and mysterious woods. there was a bit of fog that was hanging on the trees making everything seem like it as from a horror movie. it was a full moon night. the moonlight illuminated the area making it seem like the abyss of the woods came to life,as if the woods where trying to warn you of the danger that will overcome you. you felt sticky and sweaty, in desperate need of a bath you make the oh so great decision to go swim in the lake. the woods may scare other people but you basically grew up here with youre mother and it felt like home. the fog,the silence,the howling wind, it seemed like all of it is your friend. and tonight those friends where telling you something. but you shook it off as your "imagination". taking your bathrobe and phone you head towards the lake, the fog was thick and howling wind was loud. after a while you reached the lake and its as beautiful as ever, the moonlight reflected its light on the clear water making it shine like diamonds and the fog made it seem like the sky came down just to great you.

but something was off and you could feel it, it was as if something were watching you, waiting for a moment to attack its prey,that prey being you. you felt a bit anxious so you stripped of your clothes, put on your towel and went in the lake. it was the perfect temperture, you found youreself getting lost in the oh so relaxing feeling of water against your skin. you soon forgot the anxious feeling, the only feeling you felt was peace, comfort and tranquility. nearby you in the woods were a pair of dark blue eyes stalking your every movement, maping out the curves of youre body, taking in the form of your supple looking breasts and the curves of your waist. "she looks like a goddess." the blue eyed man thought to himself and he was not lying. you looked so elegantly in the lake, the moonlight reflected of your body making you look a pure maiden of the gods. "its as if the moon god himself sent you down from heaven" the blue eyes man couldnt help but want to ravish you, you looked so innocent, so curruptible, so breakable. he would make you scream his name for hours, giving you all the pleasure you wanted, filling you to the core with his children, making you his. these thoughts dwelled in his mind as you swam so peacefully unbeknowing of the terror that was about to come upon you.

after a couple minutes of swimming you decided to get out. putting on your bathrobe and gathering all your stuff, you are ready to leave when you hear some tweaking in the woods next to you. its probably nothing you think trying not to panic but as you where about to turn around you hear growling. wolfs? cyotes? no thats impossible you lifed here all your life and you never heard of any wolfes or cyotes being here. emerging from the shadow was indead a wolf but not a regular wolf, this wolf was huge about 6 feet tall and it looked as big as a car. you froze unable to procces anything from fear, the blue eyed monstorous figure slowly stalked towards you and you didnt dare move. the figure stopped in its tracks and the both of you looked at eachother, it was strange, you felt as if you have know this figure, its sky blue eyes reminded you of a certain someone.

CRACK. you heared a loud cracking sound from behind the figure causing it to turn its head and as soon as it did that you ran. you didnt know where you where going but you just ran. you head footsteps from behind you and knew that thing was on your trails, you ran deeper into the woods into an area that you dont recognize. the trees seem bigger and its branches too, you kept getting scrached from its roots but the pain only seemed to push you into running faster. soon you run into a big root from one of the trees that you didnt see.

the sound of your ankle breaking was heard vividly. you fell into the ground screaming, crying and didnt know where you are. as soon as you looked behind you there he was, the blue eyed figure, waching you closely, you were his prey, and he was your preditor. you couldnt help but cry. "please i dont wanna die" you say sobbing, you didnt want to die, you wanted to see your mom, graduate, you wanted to see dabi and if possible be his. as if the figure understood your plea it backed away a couple inches and howled loudly. the figure started to transform, it was getting smaller, its paws were shrinking and it started to look like...a human?

"my dearest Y/N dont be afraid i would never dream of hurting you. dont you recognize me my love?" you couldnt believe what you were seeing. the blue eyes monster was now a human and not just any human, it was dabi. youre dabi, the one you fell in love with. you felt dizzy you couldnt procces what was going on and the pain in your ankle made it worse. you cant think straight, your eyes closed you felt your consciousness slipping away from you, as your unconscious body is about to fall dabi leaps forward and catches you.

"oh my sweat angel sleep well once you wake up you will be all mine"

and you would,once you woke up your whole world would become upside down, your whole world would become his.

I gotta gather my thoughts after the first watch of season 4 omg !!SPOILERS!!

First and foremost I don't think this season was bad at all but I do think that it indeed could be better and doesn't quite hold up with seasons 1-3. I recently rewatched (and with recently I mean the days before thursday) the previous seasons and oh my I really forgot how much I loved them and OH how good the pacing was in season 1 and 2 especially.

For example I got the feeling that 4x01 to 4x03 kinda dragged on and made the impression they want to delay the main plot for as long as possible. (What could be explained by the fact that they have 3 whole seasons to fill still) While the first 3 1/2 episodes of season 1 play out during one whole day and you don't even notice it. Kinda a bad example tho since it is the beginning of the series soo another good example would be the first two episodes of season 2 which handled continuity of the plot and problems our babies still needed to solve on the way SO good while also staying at the Moon Nexus and goofin' around for almost 2 whole episodes.

Buuut I'm definitely gonna rewatch this season because I binged it on thursday quite harshly and that's usually a bad idea and not the way I like to watch my shows lol. I just missed them soo much o.O

Okay now with that out of the way..

OH MY GOD RAYLA, my poor children.. So much sadness :( Okay I understand that Callum and Rayla indeed had no time to talk and A he didn't want to (which is legit and def understandable) and B they had more important things to talk about but I'm SO dissapointed that not one of them asked what Rayla did in this 2 years?!? Like huh?! Not even Ezran. I'm so baffled about this it blows my mind. Did she went to see Ethari at some point? (I don't think so because she said when she gave her blades to Rex that she thinks she's not going to see Runaan or Ethari ever again soo) Did she travel the whole of Xadia all on her own until she found Stella and just came to the realization that she wants to go back and stop her search out of the blue?? What the fuck happend in two years that's a damn long time gurl

I LOVED Ezrans speech and the song played by Corvus. So powerful while Claudia and Ibis fight to the death omg very epic

Aaravos straight up possesing Callum through the heckin mirror OMG and the dragons needing to beat him at his own game because he's too strong and they couldn't risk a direct confrontation aah

OH Viren omg that realization about how he wants to spend his remaining 30 days with what he has left aka Claudia was so natural in my opinion after seeing him having a full on panic attack and being afraid of heights after falling to his death. It was out of character buut still kindaaaa maybeee felt more believable than Callum and Raylas meeting uhmm

I said it it was realllyy awkward and not the 'normal' kind of awkward it just wasn't very... it was not the way I expected them to react I'm surprised Callum actually kept his shit quite good together and Raylas lacking apology and her reaction also felt rly out of place. Tho I think she will find some words, some better words than just sorry, next season. And I hope we will hear from her what she did and where she went and she hopefully reflects on what she did and why she went away and how she hurt Callums feelings badly and aaaAAAAAH

Did you hear how he called Viren legendary!? What the heck is wrong with this boys morals? Calling someone who brought down the capitol of the sunfire elves, killed their queen and almost raged a huge war on all of Xadia legendary? I love how he talks with Viren about his childhood and I rly like how Viren himself starts to listen to him more seriously but I'm concerned about this little elf :(

Did you notice that the human girl who revealed Aaravos' treason has only one arm? Quite the detail but I thought it was nice tdp goes every extra mile for representation

I LOVED the conflict in Lux Aurea between Janai and her brother. Best subplot this season. How they talked about their people worrying and then they showed us an actual conflict and the consequences it brings and how Janai deals with it in her own and a modern way. I love that they take their time and give reasons behind the actions of the characters and how they continue to make the world feel more alive by showing us how humans and elves manage to get along with each other. Janai's brother (sry forgot his name) portrays that typical traditional worldview and I love how it stands in contrast with Janai who takes on being queen, a role which she didn't even want to have, with a fresh and open mindset influenced by the humans they now live with. Hehe influenced by Amaya hehe *blushes*

I also love the symbolism of the sun seed as a new start a beginning of an era in unity *cries*

The only problem I have with this is, that no matter what, if Janai's brother would have won the duel between him and his sister, he also couldn't bring back their old capital city, which he used as a reason at some point. And if he could he would have tried surely by now? Or is that just me?

Seeing the gap widen between Soren and Claudia BrEAks mY HeArT but it also feels very believable the way they interacted when Soren found and briefly captured her. Claudias villain arc is certainly undeniable and it makes me sad :(

OH AND SOREN!! Ah the best boi (ofc next to Callum my dork and Ezran being the most reasonable -now SO grown up O.O- best boi heh) he really shines this season in my opinion with some nice jokes as always but also with being a great friend and protector of the king. I love how he tells Rayla how Callum felt when she left him. He has indeed made the jump from "only" being the funny and strong goofball with the evil dad to the lovable and just friend who does everything in his way to protect and help the people he loves and it makes me SO happy omg.

Someone thought the others don't appreciate him enough for what he does and I gotta agree a bit. The look on his face when Zubeia appreciated his moves aah he was so proud x). But they were very worried about him when they found his armor, so yeah I guess more interactions with the boys pls \ o.o /

Sooo these are *most* of my thoughts I think for now. Correct me if I got something wrong- it was a wild watching session. Ofc I'm very much loving Rayllum smiling at and hugging each other after 2 years being apart :') and I'm very excited which direction the story will take. I'm now gonna rewatch the season and go cry some more about it yaay

Do you think younger generations will gradually move on from the practice of arranged marriages in your community? From what I've seen, it seems like most find it stressful but do end up being okay with it if they are ready & find a good match? Or do they just learn to accept it as part of their life? An example is Nadiya Hussein, British TV personality: the way she discusses her arranged marriage sounds so conflicted. She now loves her husband but it hurt her & she wouldn't do it to her kids.

That’s a realllyy good question. A tough one to answer, something I wonder about all the time, and go back and forth.

I do think younger generations will move away from this practice to some degree, or at the least change drastically. The main reason i think will be that the nature of the relationship of a second/third generation child is going to be vastly different than the relationship of a first generation child. I mean I could be totally wrong, but I feel that a large part of the problem arises from the fact that our parents immigrated here and gave up everything for us. You feel you owe them. Or that might just be me. In any case, that relationship won’t exist for the 2nd/3rd gens, so it’s gotta help a little.The communities might still remain the same with upbringing: where women are raised to be obedient and dutiful and not cause a fuss for the parent. This is another factor at play. The other factor that makes this arranged marriage stuff unfold is that we raise women to not date/not mingle with men and that’s an all around cultural notion irrespective of religion, is also specifically religious thing in some communities where it is forbidden to interact with a potential guy unless its for marriage and even then, the family has to be involved. So then it become full on patriarchal funneling into this very system.

As far as arranged marriages go, they’re patriarchal. East or west, doesn’t matter, that is the foundation of them- to be passed from one patriarch to another. That’s why it exists, so it can be ensured that who you are being passed to, is fit to be a patriarch, and continue the control of you.

In practice, they might vary and end up being different, and there’s individual variations and parents who are better than others etc. 

Arranged marriages are no doubt stressful, that’s a commonality no matter the level of agreement to it. But then it seems in my experiences and observations, to split down into three: 1) women who are reluctant but entertain it and it works out, 2) reluctant but entertain it and it doesn’t work out, and 3) those who don’t want to entertain it at all but can’t get out of it. 

I think the first type is Nadiya Hussein. And no doubt, she’d experience the stress and conflicted feelings common to this process which is not knowing how shitty the guy is going to be, not knowing if you will have freedom, knowing that you will have to cut yourself in pieces making sacrifices to make things work. But they fall in love and seem happy. I think the stress of the other ones is just very obvious and incrementally more.

I generally don’t often trust what women say about their own relationships with men. I’ve just seen our mothers do it despite the glaringly obvious shitty situations. And I think i’ve talked quite a few times about how our mothers tell us we need men for companionship, or financial stability which our fathers all failed to provide for our mothers, men continue to fail at it. And so our mothers convinced themselves that they got something from their relationship, and that’s children, because their mothers had it so much worse.

I think that happens to some level with the arranged marriage situation in the west. In that because all our mothers had it so much worse, for us to even get meet the guy twice in a chaperoned environment before getting married, how dare we have the audacity to be ungrateful when it could be so much worse? There’s this MUA artist on youtube/IG. I forget her name. But on her youtube, she was getting arranged, and she was telling her viewers how it’s fine, because her parents know her, and will want the best for her. And how it isnt the same as the olden days anymore. But then she met a white guy, dated him, and made a video about she is so grateful that the rishta thing didn’t pan out for her.My best friend (she’s arab) was recently telling me how her sister who use to be ‘square’ (to use my friends words) told her that she wanted to get married to get the nagging to stop, and now that she has a daughter, she doesn’t want her daughter to ever get married, and just travel and be free.And I think that says something. When you want something for your kids, that you didn’t have.The other women I have known, did come around to accepting it, kinda like Nadiya Hussein. Where they are reasonably happy. Again, it’s based on the trade-off of, oh it could be so much worse than this. Even my Pakistani friend, who I have talked about, who clearly in a much much shittier situation with a controlling husband who doesn’t want her to work/study and straight up told her that she has to obey him, and a woman working ruins the house/children, has convinced herself that he isn’t the man she wanted, but he’s kind because he make her tea once or twice, and Pakistani men don’t make tea for their wives. Even stories like, Samra Zafar, despite the early stages of her marriage being clearly forced she thought her marriage was good, until it became physically abusive. I think these last two are definitely the #2 and #3 situations i described above, and still have to some capacity at some point convinced themselves that they were happy.

I do think that women who are that #1 situation, where they are reluctant but it worked out, are more likely to repeat this for their daughters.(sorry i have no idea if that even answered anything lol i just ranted)

My husband is in the military and is currently deployed overseas and I had a question about his car insurance. I have an 11-yr old car with 106K miles that runs well. Last night I was rear-ended quite hard while waiting at a red light. Both the other driver and his insurance co immediately admitted liability. The damage to my car is pretty bad. I went to the auto body shop recommended by the other guy's insurance co - they told me the car will have to be totalled b/c it will cost more to repair than what the car is worth - he estimated the car is worth $2K and repairs will be at least $4K. So the insurance co is saying they'll give me a check for $2K and I have to get rid of the car (apparently that part is New York law). But I cannot buy another car - at least not one I'd trust to drive! - for $2K. The accident was completely NOT my fault - how can the insurance co not pay to repair it?
