some of my touhou thoughts and ideas are inspired by fanworks like doujin comics and songs. Other times i sort come into them on my own but then i come across a fanwork that’s like on a really similar wavelength and i feel kinda cool knowing that someone must’ve drew from at least a somewhat similar thought process as me... 🧠

Anyway, in the last few weeks of writing the most recent fanfic, in order to get myself in just the right mindsets for thinking about Shou and her struggling with her nature as a youkai acting as an idol for humans, I became really attached to diao ye zong’s Fragile Idol-Worship (spotify link!) (translation of lyrics here!) 🎶🐯💔... its really really good arrange and thematic since the album it comes from is entirely themed after lies and deception. and also the last climax of the song is totally using the melody of emotoinal skyscraper, right!?

On that note, i might as well mention there’s another dyz song i like that’s all about Byakuren’s fear of death. ブラック・ロータス  (Black Lotus) (spotify) (translation) 🪷💀... I don’t come back to this song often, and even for this story, but i love the dreary mood of it which is in-line with the whole album of hohuri. side note the booklet illustrations for this one is exceptionally beautiful... (the lyrics for black lotus are on the right side. the left side is a yuyuko song which i also really like)

Though actually I’m not actually sure if my idea of writing a story that went into Shou’s nature is original or not, because I genuinely cannot recall if i thought of it before or after I read zounose’ Goodbye Beast , which is a really good doujin that’s like, all about that. no way to know now but let’s just say all things lead to one another... 

no Wait actually I just remembered while I was typing. I’m pretty sure the exact thing that first filled my brains with this line of Shou thoughts is shibayan’s オズネイ・ハマンはもういらない (spotify). The lyrics in these albums are always kinda abstract because these songs are more about vibes than anything, but that just means its easier to just your imagination to apply it however you want...
