bloodsucker, famefucker
A/N: Happy early Halloween, folks! For those who are unaware, I post a light-hearted, sweet fluffy fic and then something more on the horror, gore side of things. This fic is my horror one, so I'd skip this if you're more of a fluff person! I hope the haunted season has gone well for you, and I look forward to bringing more Halloween joy next week. :)
TW: Vampires, horror-esque descriptions, blood, violence against Reader/SuA, home invasion, biting, major character death, mentions of cheating and being a bad partner, OOC SuA, friendship break-ups, the best kind of angst, magic but I bend it to the plot's will, partying, alcohol mentions (everyone mentioned is old enough to partake)
Acknowledgments: Inspired by Vampire (Olivia Rodrigo) and Control (Halsey), and the lovely @sanccharine mishaps gone right series. 🫶 ty for reading this fic ahead of time, and I apologize for any future transgressions in relation to a sequel. ;)
Word Count: 5.2K
( <- Previous Part | Next Part -> | Series Masterlist)
Summary: You're stuck in a rut a few months after your break-up with Bora, but a friendly date helps you feel ready to jump back into dating. Your ex, however, decides that she has to stick her fangs into you one last time to show who's really over who.

“Vampires suck.”
“Yeah, well, no shit,” Yoohyeon sighs before throwing her flashcards against the table, “how am I supposed to pass this exam with basic information like that?”
You sit across from the table in a private study booth on the second floor of the campus library. Yoohyeon, your best friend since high school, is studying for her first Vampiric History exam as you are trying, and horribly failing, to focus on your homework for Applied Mathematics For Sorcery.
Your focus falls back to the screen as your phone displays a bright collection of images from someone you followed. Her smile is bright and immortal, given the sharp front teeth that are proudly bared, but that’s not what you’re focused on.
The fourth picture, since you had dared to scroll that far, was the same vampire locking lips with another vampire from a different coven.
The problem was that you had forgotten to block all of your ex-girlfriend’s friends on all social media, and you were currently staring at a picture of SuA kissing someone else two months after you broke up.
You carelessly toss your phone on the table, forgetting to lock the screen, as Yoohyeon curiously eyes your phone.
“Don’t tell me you’re-“
“-She cheated on me, Yooh. How am I supposed to forgive her?”
“You didn’t, and you walked away from her,” She digs in her backpack, presumably for a snack, “as you should have.”
“Is it okay to not be over her?”
“Hey, don’t beat yourself up,” Yoohyeon tosses a granola bar across the table for you before opening hers, “it’s her loss. You’re the coolest person I know.”
A light smile rests on her face - Yoohyeon always knew how to make you feel better.
“Thanks, Yooh,” You say as you grab the granola bar on the table, “do you have any clue how to solve geometry in relation to spell casting?”
“No, so we’re going to go ask Dami for help.”
You shrug before closing your computer and beginning to pack your stuff up.
“Works for me.”
~
“Dami-ah!” Yoohyeon pounds on the dormitory door as you pull your backpack over your shoulder.
Your mind wanders back to the photos you saw earlier as Minji, SuA, and Siyeon partied together as if you all weren’t close a few months ago.
As if it wasn’t your fault that your friend group was split in two.
“Dami, answer the damn door before Yoohyeon breaks it down!” Handong calls from the inside as Yoohyeon continues to rap her knuckles against the door.
“I got it!” Gahyeon yells before the door opens. “You guys could have called-“
“I know, but we wanted to surprise you-“
“-You need help with your homework?”
“We do.” You mumble in defeat as Gahyeon gives you a quick hug.
“It’s good to see you, y’know?” She rubs your shoulder before giving you a reassuring look. “You’re more than welcome here at any time, okay?”
“Thank, Gahyeon,” You pause as you let out a deep breath, “I needed a distraction.”
“You saw Bora’s post, didn’t you?” Gahyeon rolls her eyes before closing the door behind you and
Yoohyeon. “We should throw a party, or like a mixer! It would be so much better than what she did.”
“As long as it’s not in this dorm room, I’m down with the idea.” Handong adds in as she is perched on the top bunk of the bunk bed.
Gahyeon crashes on the bunk below Handong as Yoohyeon hops on the bed on the other side of the room.
“Dongie, have you started studying for that exam yet?” Yoohyeon asks as she pulls out her notecards.
“A bit. Do you want to study together?”
“Please help me.” Yoohyeon sets her backpack on the bed as you set your stuff on the bed next to hers.
Your eyes turn to the desk next to the bunk bed where Dami is studying for one of her more advanced classes.
“Do you need help with math?” She asks while doing a computation on her phone.
“I could use help for Applied Mathematics in Sorcery from my favorite sorceress.” You teasingly say as you grab some materials from your backpack.
Dami raises one hand up, and without breaking attention from her studies, she pulls another chair up to the desk.
“Thanks for that,” You set down your notebook, pencil, and computer, “and I apologize in advance because you’re going to need to re-explain this entire chapter to me.”
~
“Why does everything you say make more sense than whatever the professor was going on in class?” You sigh in relief as you submit a perfect homework assignment online.
“You’re welcome. I’m happy to help with anything.” Dami takes care to emphasize the last word as your phone buzzes.
“I’m sorry,” You pause for a moment to grab your phone from the table, “let me look at this before we change subjects.”
You open up the notification that takes you straight to your text messages.
Unknown Number: Jagi, I’m sorry that I hurt you so much.
Babe, why won’t you answer my texts? I know you blocked me but I missed up.
*Messed ypu.
Fuck, I just miss you, and I’m not sorry about it.
“Who is it?” Yoohyeon peeks over the top of the bunk bed as you toss your phone to her.
Dongie manages to catch it before Yoohyeon’s face does, and they gasp in sync with one another.
“She did not-“
“Oh, she did,” Yoohyeon looks at the alarm clock with a chuckle, “and she’s already drunk before nine o’clock.”
A hand on your right arm pulls you back to Dami, who looks at you with confusion and concern mixed together in her gaze.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m just tired of the constant reminders that I wasn’t enough for her. It makes me wonder if I’ll ever truly be over her, or if I’m just going to miss her for the rest of my life.” You quietly admit as Gahyeon snatches your phone out of Dongie’s grasp.
“What are you-“
“-That’s it! I’ve had enough of them,” Gahyeon spits out before grabbing her phone, “and we’re going to do something about it. Everyone, clear your schedules on October 30th. We’re throwing the best party that this campus has ever seen!”
Gahyeon hands you back your phone, and you quickly shove it in your pocket as she starts typing on her phone.
“This is great and all, Gahyeon,” Handong climbs down the bunkbed to grab something from the mini fridge, “but I’m only okay with this plan if they are.”
Dongie’s eyes meet yours as she quickly places a reassuring hand on your shoulder before bending to grab a drink from the mini fridge next to you.
“I think it’ll be fun, especially with Gahyeon planning it.” You gently move Handong’s hand from your shoulder as you nod at Gahyeon. “Just let me know what I need to bring, okay?”
Gahyeon cheerfully pumps her free hand in the air as the other girls laugh at her antics.
“Okay, Yooh and Dongie, since you’ve got the most experience with party planning, I’ll need you to-“
Your eyes go back to Dami, who wistfully stares at the girls in front of her.
“You don’t have to go, y’know?” You take her hand on your arm and interlace your fingers with hers as you set your hands on the table, “I wouldn’t want you to feel uncomfortable just for my sake.”
“I don’t mind, I promise. I just don’t like going to parties that-“ She pauses until you nod at her for permission, “Bora and Siyeon used to drag me to.”
“If Gahyeon gets too out of hand, Dongie will reel her back in. I want this to be something fun for all of us, a moment to stop worrying about school for a night.”
“Are you sure that school is all that’s on your mind?” Her eyes dare to read within your mind, and despite the turbulence within your heart, you find yourself at peace when discussing such matters with Dami.
“I don’t know if I miss SuA anymore, or if I just miss having someone to tell every silly little thing to.” You confess.
“You know I’m always available to talk to you, no matter the hour or day, right?” She asks as you nod, “As for the other matter, why not put yourself out there again? Just go on a less formal date, something low-commitment, to see if you want to go back into the realm of dating.”
There’s a spark of expectation and hopefulness in her as her eyes linger on your intertwined hands for a moment, but her gaze quickly returns back to you as you open your mouth.
I wonder what that was about…
“For someone who doesn’t do a lot of dating, you have awfully good dating advice,” You tease as a small blush crosses her face, “and that’s not a bad idea. I think it would be good to put myself out there again, just
as a test.”
~
Dates were something of a new area for you, as most of your dates with SuA included staying home and studying or going out with friends and partying. You were also around a group, so you had the comfort of a friend to look at for.
Here, in the coffee shop, it was just you, the coffee cup you were holding on to for dear life, and a cute elven girl named Chou Tzuyu.
“How are you finding your studies?” She asks before tucking a small piece of hair behind her ear.
You were, to say the least, mesmerized by her beauty, so you cough and shyly look away when you notice that she is speaking to you.
“They’re going well, but having an individualized major instead of a set path of study can be stressful at times.” You admit as you recall your struggles with math earlier in the week. “Math has been a struggle for me, but I have a friend who is bright like you.”
“I’m not the only one you get answers from?” She raises an eyebrow at you as you scoff.
“I can do the homework for my humanity-focused classes, but these sorcery classes are kicking my ass.”
You roll your eyes as you think of the pile of math homework awaiting you. “I’m thankful for your help with the history classes, you are a lifesaver.”
“You’re helping me practice teaching when I go for advanced studies at the university, so I am thankful for you as well.”
You take a small sip from your cup as your thoughts wander again.
This is going okay, and she’s really pretty, but I’m not feeling anything special like I did with-
“Why did you ask me on a date?” Tzuyu directly asks as your heart sinks in your chest.
Oh no, she’s going to think this is a rebound and I’m going to lose another friend after everything-
“You don’t have to tell me, though,” She gently grabs your hand before you squeeze your coffee cup past its
breaking point, “but I think there’s someone else you’d rather be here with, no?”
“Huh?” Your eyebrows jump to the top of your forehead as an amused smile dances across her features.
“Oh, you didn’t know that she…” Tzuyu trails off before shaking her head. “It’s not my business, though. You’ve got a great group of friends behind you.”
“Does that still include you?”
“Of course, who else will help you with your history classes?”
You smile before taking another sip from your coffee cup.
Maybe this ‘date’ wasn’t a total failure.
~
You slip through the large crowd of people who have collected in the living room of Gahyeon’s friend’s house. She was out of town for a couple of weeks, right around Halloween, so Gahyeon got permission to do so. The only caveat was that the five of you had to clean up and stay the night to make sure the house was taken care of, but Gahyeon roped everyone into it without much worry.
Without a red solo cup in your hand, you do stand out, but Gahyeon committed to having a dry party that could still be fun without excessive drinking. You had to hand it to her - the set up of the party and the house allowed for all sorts of activities for all sorts of people.
You were in charge of food, so after grabbing another food tray for the spare bedroom, you were trying to make it through the crowd in one piece. While batting stray hands and partiers away, you offer a quick wave to Tzuyu, who stands in the corner by herself.
She joins your side once you break from the crowd, and you make a sharp left as she follows your pace.
“The party’s great.” She says as you knock on the bedroom door.
“You should be thanking Gahyeon. This is all her idea, I just showed up with a few food trays.” You push any praise to Gahyeon, who opens the door with a large smile.
“Thank you!” She snatches the tray from your hands as Tzuyu leans on the doorframe. “You both are welcome to come in - we’ve got plenty of board games to spare!”
“I thought you would’ve been out with the music and partiers, Gahyeon.” You step inside the room before looking back at Tzuyu. “You want in?”
“I think I’ll head back to the living room. Dahyun said she’s challenging someone to a dance-off, and I have money riding on her winning it, so I need to make sure my investment was worth it.”
You laugh to yourself before waving her off.
“Have fun with that, Tzuyu.”
She nods before disappearing back into the hallway.
You turn to look at Gahyeon, who admires you with wide eyes.
“So…?”
“There’s nothing between us, I promise,” You grab a piece of cheese from the tray and toss it in your mouth,
“but it was nice to try to go on a date. I’ve been missing that sort of connection in my life.”
“That’s good-“
“Ah, Yoohyeon, the point of the game is to avoid my property-“ Dongie teases Yoohyeon from the left side of the bed as Yoohyeon folds her arms and huffs.
“Yah, you’re so mean to me!”
“Pay up,” Handong holds out her hand for money, and Yoohyeon reluctantly places the cash in her hand, “now, was that so hard?”
“I don’t like this game,” Yooh pouts before her eyes land on you, “c’mon, we should play a new game so all of us can play together.”
“The five of us can play Monopoly-“ Dami chimes in as Gahyeon sets the tray down on the nightstand.
“-Let’s just play Mario Kart before Yoohyeon owes Handong real money.” You settle the argument by turning
on the Switch as Yoohyeon cheers.
“See, I knew you’d have my back!”
~
Gahyeon and Handong are perched on the bed as you and Yoohyeon sit against the front of the bed. Dami moved her chair closer to the TV so the five of you can play together.
Most of the freeloading partiers have gone home, so there’s no need for the five of you to take shifts to manage the crowd. The only people left are friends of friends who are raiding the last of the snacks and drinks before heading out of the door.
“That was a really successful party, Gahyeon,” You say as the winning animation plays on the screen, “and it looks like everyone who came had a great time.”
Gahyeon smiles brightly before excitedly pulling out her phone.
“I bet the whole party is all over everyone’s socials,” She taps her screen a few times before her eyes widen, “oh shit!”
Your head snaps back, along with Yoohyeon’s, at her exclamation.
Dongie leans over to look at Gahyeon’s phone, and she has a remorseful look on her face.
“Minji was here.”
“Minji was here?” You and Dami say at the same time as Yoohyeon immediately stands up.
“I’m going to go out and chase everyone else off… just in case we have any lurkers.” Malice slips into the last word she speaks as Yoohyeon quickly exits the room.
You want to offer to help, but you don’t think you can face her after everything that has happened with Bora.
“It’s not your fault, you know,” Dami slides off her chair before sitting next to you, “we chose to stand by you when everything happened.”
“You all were friends long before Bora and I got together, and I-“ You pause as tears threaten to fall from your face, “I ruined everything.”
“You ruined nothing,” Dongie reaches towards you and rubs your back for a moment before looking at the phone again, “but I learned that some of my friends weren’t who I thought they were.”
“If I had known…” Gahyeon wistfully says before putting her phone aside, “If I had known that SuA had cheated on you, I would’ve told you right away. The worst part about everything wasn’t hearing it from you - no, we heard it directly from her, and she was proud of what she did.”
Gahyeon sniffles before the waterworks come out, and you find yourself wiping away tears as Handong wraps an arm around her.
“It’s not your fault,” Dami repeats as you lay your head on her shoulder, “I would choose you a thousand times over. I think about how everything played out, sometimes, when I go to sleep, but I don’t regret anything. I met one of the best people in my life after everything that happened, and I couldn’t be more thankful.”
“Minji and Siyeon chose their sides, as we chose ours,” Handong reassures you while holding on to Gahyeon, “and I don’t miss the drama, the fights, and the black-out parties.”
You laugh as you wipe away more tears.
“Those parties were awful,” You reminisce as a memory comes to mind, “I remember having to nearly carry SuA home because she was drunk past the point of walking straight.”
“Forget walking - Siyeon tried to kiss me!” Handong exclaims as you laugh alongside her.
“I do miss them, sometimes,” You softly admit while playing with your shirt sleeve, “and I wonder if things had played out differently, if we’d still be friends.”
“I think those ‘what-ifs’ are better left alone, at least for tonight,” Dami gently wraps her arm around your shoulder as you lean into her body more, “we’ve got plenty of work ahead of us.”
~
“Babe, c’mon! Pictures are fun.” SuA tugged on your sleeve as you fixed your hair in the reflection of your phone screen.
“I don’t look my best, and you always look so much better than I do.” You pull your sleeve away from her before putting your phone away.
“At least you can see what you look like!” SuA yells before stomping off to go meet with the campus photographer.
Confusion mixed with anxiety makes an unholy cocktail, one that’s worse than whatever is in the red solo cup in your hand. You toss the drink to the side of the yard before throwing the cup away as the thought of SuA’s recent uptick in outbursts gnaws at your mind.
Was it you? Did you say something wrong? Your hair and outfit really was a mess from dancing at a crowded party, and you weren’t in the mood to get photographed. Was that such a grievance in your mind?
You probably struck a bad nerve by looking at your phone, considering her lack of reflection, so it would be best if you apologized so you could move on. You wonder how many more times she’ll run off before you stop chasing her.
You shake off the thought, she’s probably just stressed from midterm exams. You push through the crowd of people in the backyard as you head inside the frat house. Before you lost sight of her, she had been heading to the living room to see the photographer that wanted to take a picture of “the happy couple”.
Only if they knew.
You break through the crowd once you’re inside, and a quick glance to the left tells you that you’re not getting through the line of people waiting to use the restroom. You turn to the right, and are met with a frightening display in the living room.
Your girlfriend, the girl you adored from the moment you met her, had her hands and lips all over someone else.
Part of your heart, part of your innocence, and part of your joy shriveled up and died in that moment, but not just because of SuA.
It was watching two of your older friends, the two people you trusted most, watch the scene in front of them unfold as if nothing was wrong. You didn’t scream or cry, not right away. You simply turned back around, pushed through the crowd of people with more force than before, and got a ride home.
A simple text saying “We’re done” and a few blocked phone numbers and social media accounts were enough justice for you, but the world is a karmic bitch who likes to have the last laugh. Before you blocked SuA, she had posted a video of the scene you had just witnessed, with one simple caption:
“For you, my dear.”
In a sweat, you pull the blanket off of you and sit up on the air mattress. Gahyeon sleeps peacefully to your left (the girls played rock-paper-scissors for the spot and she won), and Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting over the covers on the bed in their sleep.
After rubbing your eyes and grabbing your phone, you glance over to the cot where Dami was sleeping, only to notice that she was no longer there.
Weird.
Turning on your phone, you blind yourself with the power of a thousand suns before looking at the time.
2:33 a.m., and I went to bed at 1:00 a.m. It’s going to be a long night.
Nightmares came and gone, but they were always supposed to be based in fantasy or fear, not reality.
Having the same scenario play out, over and over again, as if you can change anything that had happened, was maddening.
You would usually call one of your friends when you felt like this, but they were all sleeping peacefully, so you decided to look for the other person who would be awake at this hour. Dami was one of the first asleep most nights, so your calls and texts would go unanswered, but she was always the first to text or call you back if she missed your call.
She had always been a pillar of calm confidence, of self-assured belief in oneself, and you question what had brought you two together during orientation to the university. Perhaps you looked like a duckling who had lost sight of its mother, or perhaps she was just as lost as you. Either way, you had found one another and had been inseparable since.
Dami had been the one to introduce you to her friends, and you had gotten along especially well with SuA. Push comes to shove, one night’s confession turns to love, and the two of you were dating. If you were to be technical, everything that had happened so far was Dami’s fault, in a way.
Guilt buries itself in your consciousness as you shift blame from Dami to yourself. It wasn’t her fault that SuA had acted in such a way. The two of you were fundamentally different people - she liked parties and darkness and temporary pleasure, and you liked quiet afternoons and board game nights with friends and working towards a goal greater than yourself. What had drawn you to each other was tearing your relationship apart - you had nothing in common, but yet again, you had nothing in common.
You’re careful to not blind yourself as you check the time on your phone.
2:34 a.m.
You get out of bed, as quietly as possible, before gently opening the bedroom door. You notice that a light
has been left on towards the direction of the kitchen, so you head that way.
A creak in the floorboards underneath you causes you to pause, as if you’re some sort of horror protagonist. You can imagine how they’d jump and scream, but you were simply worried about waking your friends… right?
You walk much slower as the kitchen starts to come into view. A figure stands by the kitchen island while wringing off their hands with a towel.
“Dami?”
Their head snaps in your direction, and you sigh before slipping your phone in your pocket.
“I’m happy to see you because I can’t seem t-“
When you go into the kitchen, their face is revealed in the light, and a scream threatens to break from your lips.
A disheveled SuA stands in front of you, and she’s covered head-to-toe in blood splatters. When she smiles at you, blood leaks from her lips and drips onto the tile flooring.
As your mouth opens, SuA makes a quick maneuver towards you and pins you to the nearest wall.
“You know,” She gasps for air as she eyes your neck, “we could’ve done this the easy way while you were sleeping.”
“Fuck y-“
Her hand covers your mouth as she bares her teeth and plunges them into your neck. You scream into her mouth, but her strength is no match for yours. You’re sure a dagger in the neck would be more comfortable as she carelessly drinks from you.
You had imagined your death before, but it was nothing like this. You had to fight back, one way or another.
As your vision starts to soften due to blood loss, you scan your surroundings for something to help you. On a table within your grasp, you notice that a wooden spoon used for punch had been haphazardly left there without being cleaned up.
I hope no one can tell the difference between two red liquids…
You manage to grab the spoon before the strength in your body starts to give out. Color and brightness and darkness and nothingness swirl in your vision as you attempt to plunge the dagger into her heart.
The coldness of the floor meets your check, and survival instincts kick in as you slowly crawl away. Your vision dances with the cold lighting as you pull yourself towards the light. A strangled cry escapes you as something grabs onto your leg with crawls tearing into the flesh of your thigh.
You’ve lost your weapon, so you can only assume that it has made contact with SuA or did enough to scare her off. Your eyes adjust to the surroundings as your neck burns with the pain of a hundred bee stings. The grip on your leg loosens as you crawl towards what looks to be a phone.
You hope you can get to the phone before you pass out as a wave of nausea causes you to place your head on the floor.
“Did you hear that scream? I think someone next door had too much to drink-“ Gahyeon’s voice is the last thing you remember before your eyes shut permanently.
~
Heat soaks your body as your eyes open to a light being projected right into your eyes.
“I don’t know how much more I can do… the puncture wounds are too deep.”
A soft hand is placed against your neck as the light is pulled from directly above you to the side.
“You’re awake...” Dongie sits to your side as your head turns the opposite way to look at the rest of your surroundings.
“SuA… she-“
“Don’t worry about SuA, she’s dead.”
Your head snaps towards Handong as your breathing quickens.
“Dead-“
“Why would you say that? You’re going to kill them before they have a chance to make a proper recovery.”
Yoohyeon leans on Handong as you start to see more of what surrounds you.
You’ve been moved from the kitchen to the living room, but time has barely passed. The darkness outside starts to creep in as your vision slowly fades to black.
“We’re losing them-“ Handong cries out as someone else walks toward you.
“Dami!”
You push away the darkness as you immediately prop yourself up on your elbows. Handong supports your back with both of her hands as Yoohyeon places a washcloth against your neck.
“Don’t do that-“ Handong begins to scold you before
“It’s okay,” Dami raises her hand before sitting beside you, “we need them awake.”
“Is this going to work?” Yoohyeon softly asks as your eyes dance around, looking for another person.
“Gahyeon is out looking for Minji, Siyeon, and Tzuyu,” Dami calmly answers as you look back at her, “and I just need you to focus on staying awake. We’ll be okay as long as you’re okay.”
Dami reaches for a book as you focus on your breaths.
Do this one thing for them - it’s easy enough.
You fight against the numbness, the pain inside of you as Dami flips through the book with ease until her hand finds the right page.
“Are binding spells safe?” Yoohyeon asks as Handong scoffs.
“Not in the slightest, but they’re better than resurrection spells.” Handong rubs your back before looking back at Yoohyeon.
“Are you serious? We’re using untamed magic-“
“-Resurrection spells are untamed magic, binding spells are unreliable-“ Dami corrects as Yoohyeon raises her eyebrows in disbelief.
“-you have to be kidding me!”
Your head falls back as your resistance starts to fail.
“Dami, hurry up-“
“-I’ve got it.” Dami takes your spare hand and intertwines it with hers. “Do you trust me?”
“I always have,” You mutter as your eyelids flutter rapidly, “and I always will.”
She glances away for a moment before closing the book and tossing it aside.
Dami mutters something in a tongue unknown to you as a soft purple smoke surrounds the both of you.
“Get away-“ Handong backs off from you as you support yourself with your arms.
“They can’t-“ Yoohyeon argues for a moment before Handong drags her away from you.
The purple smoke grows closer and closer around the two of you until it disappears just as quickly as it
came.
Your resolve cracks and crumbles until nothing inside of you is left to fight.
I should have never introduced the two of you, this wouldn’t have happened if I was more careful-
Dami’s voice rings through your mind as her eyes pierce your soul.
It was never your fault, you answer her with your thoughts, and I’d do it all over again if it means I got to be close with you.
You’re out before your head hits the pillow, but not before a small tear runs down Dami’s cheek.

san knows you hate summer.
he knows you hate sweating, bugs, air conditioning in shops, and when people say 'it's not so much the heat as the humidity' in those stupid little knowing voices.
san knows you hate summer, and your tossing and turning and whining in your shared bed is the glaring proof of that.
with fond eyes, he watches you inch closer to his body every few minutes. it will inevitably lead you into the familiar position, with your head on his chest and your legs tangled together, you hugging him close to benefit from his gelid skin.
he admittedly gets all giddy and internally giggles like a teenager every time it happens. he’s just glad you’re not awake to catch him in the act for he would not hear the end of it.
san knows you hate summer but he can’t help but love the season for this reason exactly.
the two of you actually met in the middle of ‘one of the hottest summers ever recorded’ and from that moment on, he’s been in all your seasons.
FIRST SUMMER TOGETHER.
moving into a new apartment on the third floor with a narrow stairway and no elevator in the middle of july was possibly the worst decision you’ve ever taken in your entire life, and you’re pretty well known for making wrong choices.
every one of your friends agreed that it was, in fact, a bad decision but you had embarked on the tedious journey knowing it was inevitable and desperately needed.
because honestly speaking, what were the options? were there options in the first place?
picture. you just moved from another country, running away from both your problems and your parents, things which if you think about it now, were one and the same. you’re a freshman in a college you’re surprised you even got into thanks to your messy portfolio. you don’t know anyone, let alone have friends, and sakura miyawaki, who’s apparently the sakura miyawaki —hot junior with a brilliant career ahead of her and a honeyed voice capable of making anyone fall at her feet— bumps into you and spills her iced coffee all over the sweatpants and sweatshirt combo that you call your pajama.
it’s a chilly late september night, you’re coming back to your dorm from a lonely and sad dinner at the convenience store five minutes off campus, and your wide eyes, shivering body, and awkward incapability to form a single, coherent sentence must inspire her so much pity that she essentially begs you to at least allow her to take your dirty clothes to your dormitory’s laundry room. she’s pretty and smells nice, and in your book, that’s more than enough to follow her to the cramped and dusty room with flickering neon lights and a serious mold problem.
you talk the whole night, you dangling your legs from one of the dryers, and she, sitting legs crossed on the ground waiting for your clothes to clean up.
fast forward eight months, and she’s inviting you to live with her after having to hear you whine about your bio-hazard of a roommate for the whole semester. you’re together now, have been for two months or so, and it actually sounds like a good idea until it isn’t.
it doesn’t last too long. you know the first period of living together poses a great challenge to every relationship, you merely thought that yours was going to pass smoothly.
you fight over stupid things more often than not, you say sorry when you’re not supposed to, she feels bad, you have sex, and you are back to square one.
you’re not one to force something that’s not meant to be, disregarding your mental health in the process, and just before summer starts, you break up with her. it's not that surprising when it doesn’t turn out to be something tragic. she’s still your friend, you’re still living together under the same roof. there’s just an invisible wall acting as a boundary between the two of you.
when the summer you so fervently hate and she so animatedly loves finally comes around, your living situation becomes a problem.
she has a new girlfriend, and you don’t resent her one bit. chaewon is pretty and smart and likes summer almost as much as sakura, she’s not the problem per se, it’s just that the small two-bedroom apartment is starting to feel claustrophobic. it’s when, after a month or so, you catch them doing stuff on the couch you and sakura bought together that you decide you have to move out. out of the apartment, out of the relationship.
which brings you to your current situation.
did sakura really have to find happiness in july?
you loudly curse the droplets of sweat that form at the back of your neck only to slowly crawl their way under your tank top, down your back.
you take one look around the small atrium of the old building off campus you consciously decided to move into, then over your shoulder to the heap of furniture sakura so graciously let you take with you, and you’re overcome by the urge to just leave it all on the street, live a refreshing minimalist life, sleep on a mattress on the floor and keep your clothes inside your suitcase forever.
you visibly grimace at how lazy you are, but, in your defense, you were promised assistance, motivation, an annoying cheerleader with a probable undiagnosed OCD hyping you up and telling you exactly how and where to move things.
honestly, seonghwa was such a bitch to bail on you last minute. he should be here helping you (doing everything for you without even noticing because he hates how you do things), not lazing around somewhere (working overtime for mere pennies).
you loudly sigh, hoping he can hear you from the other side of the city before shaking your head to shoo away any counterproductive thought and rolling up non-existent sleeves to finally get to work after almost twenty minutes of sweet and pure procrastination.
starting going up and down the steep stairs, you think that maybe you were just being a tad bit overdramatic. yeah, you’re still sweating like a pig and your hair still uncomfortably sticks to the back of your neck, but you’re working relatively quickly and you’re finally seeing progress! who needs help? from a man, nonetheless? seonghwa can go to hell with his big words like irresponsibility, laziness, immaturity, and weaponized incompetence that he throws at you every time you beg him to help you with something.
this little emancipated-woman moment lasts for about an hour when you realize how right your best friend actually is in calling you dumb, and the real reason for everything going so smoothly and without that much of an effort finally reveals itself. having moved all the useless and light things first, your bigger furniture remains sitting on the street, tanning under a bright summer sun.
now you stand alone at the top of the first flight of stairs. a wanderer above a sea of silence and embarrassment. the bed structure you just left tumbling down the steps with a loud noise after trying to dangerously drag it to your apartment on your own, stares at you mockingly.
and yet, the only thing you can think about is that when it fell, the headboard banged against the staircase wall and didn’t leave any mark, so at least the old building is not made of cardboard and won’t fly away at the next thunderstorm in a wizard of oz type of fashion.
two floors above you a door slams open and a deep, angry voice cascades on you from the heavens, judging for your sins and damning you to an afterlife of suffering in the fiery pits of the equivalent for stupid people of hell.
“what the fuck is happening in this forsaken building!? some people are trying to sleep, for fuck’s sake!”
you hear him before you see him but nothing about his voice could have prepared you to witness the hunk of a man hurling himself down the stairs to see your crouched and sad form pitifully sitting on the last step of the stairs, knees close to your chest and eyes looking at the consequences of your actions through fissures of your hands pressed in shame on your face.
you know he’s standing behind you from the furious huffs coming from his nostrils every two or three seconds, and you slowly —comically, under other circumstances— turn your head to look at him, hovering over you, blazing glare pinning you down.
“was it you? who- what are you doing?”
“i dropped my bed…”
he passes an aggressive hand through his dark hair. “what the fuck does that mean?”
you silently point to the furniture at the bottom of the stairs, resigned eyes staying on his confused face.
“how did- you woke me up. i just fell asleep.”
“it’s almost noon.” you point out. “and it’s tuesday…”
he presses his lips in a thin line seemingly getting where you’re coming from.
then it dawns on you. almost too obvious considering the people you hang out with. “oh my god don’t tell me- you’re a vampire?”
“i am- wait- how did you- and why do you sound disappointed, what the fuck?”
you shake your head dismissively. “oh, it’s not you, i swear. i just thought i’d meet a normal person for once.” your attention is back to your bed, assessing how to bring it to the third floor and missing the man’s shocked expression. if they could, his eyes would pop off their socket.
“for once?”
you shoo his disbelief away with a wave of your hand, leaving him gaping at you like a fish out of water. “i’m- who are you?”
you simply shrug. “oh, i’m YN. i’m moving here.”
he’s funny, you think. right hand propped on his hip, left hand massaging the bridge of his nose while he takes deep breaths, he looks just like the old lady that lived down your street when you were little, and that had something to say every time you and your brothers played outside.
“are you okay? do you need to sit down?” you gently pat the space near you on the step you’re sitting on. a worried smile playing on your lips.
he glares at you from over his hand and scoffs loudly. “look, i really don’t know how you know, but i am a vampire and i do need to rest every once in a while. so just- just do what you have to do but do it quietly.”
you frown as he turns around, surely intent to barricade himself back into his house.
is he really going to make you ask for it?
you have to bury all your pride —which at this point is not a lot– to stop him from leaving. “can you help me?” a whisper that you know he hears loud and clear as his head snaps back to you and his body stills halfway up the first flight of stairs.
“what?”
you feign innocence, looking at everything but him. “what?”
his face contorts weirdly, and you don’t understand if he’s about to cry his eyes out in front of you out of frustration or scream at your face before snapping your neck and going back to sleep like this is just another tuesday for him. what you do not expect is the loud snort that he lets out like you just said the most hilarious thing ever.
he looks at you again with the neighbor-lady pose and a surprised smile on his lips. “you want me to help you?”
you shrug, admittedly a little bit embarrassed at the condescending tone he’s using. you feel like a child before him, and in terms of years on this earth you probably are. “well-” you point at the furniture you just dropped down the stairs ”-the bed is not going to bring itself up the stairs and we clearly established that i’m not physically capable of doing it alone, so…”
he cocks his head and blinks blankly at you.
“you want me to say please? because i will-”
“say please.” he cuts you off and graces you with a smug smirk.
it’s hard to be annoyed when his voice sends a weird shiver down your back. “please, will you be so generous and help me bring the heavy stuff up these ridiculously steep stairs? like really, why are they so-”
“yes, dear neighbor. i will help you. thank you for asking so nicely.” and before you can say anything else, he’s already picking up the bed structure and carrying it up to your apartment without breaking as much as a sweat, and you’re left to stare at him at the bottom of the stairs, dumbfounded and admittedly a little attracted to this weird man too.
in no time the unsurprisingly strong vampire has managed to clear the street of your possessions and is now awkwardly standing in the middle of your small apartment, seemingly waiting for you to send him on his way.
“everything is here,” you state matter-of-factly, nibbling nervously at your lower lip and rocking on the balls of your feet.
he nods his head once and when you don’t say anything else, he looks at you with confused eyes. “do you need me for anything else or…?”
you’re quick to shake your head and offer him a thankful smile. “thank you, though.”
“no problem.” another beat of weird silence. “then i’ll… i’ll go,” he bids you a polite goodbye and starts walking to the door before you stop him with a shy hand on his cold forearm and a look that’s hopefully conveying how truly thankful you are for his help. without him you would still be sitting on the stairs wallowing in self-pity, waiting for a tired seonghwa to put you back in a tranquil state of mind.
“hey, i just wanted to- i really am sorry, okay? for waking you up, i mean, but i really hate summer and- and my friend seonghwa says i’m dumb, and he’s right because why the hell did i even try to drag the bed up the stairs alone? but he says that i have a problem with logical thinking and that i do stupid shit because of that, so maybe that’s why…? and he also says i’m a public danger and that i don’t read social cues, and that i say things to people and don't even realize it and- and i asked if you were a vampire and maybe i offended you and-”
“sounds like a shitty friend to me.” the cute smile on his lips makes you literally melt where you stand, and you’d be at a loss for words if you didn’t have a best friend whose reputation you have to save just after ruining it.
“no! i swear he’s the best! he’s- he's my voice of reason and- you know what, you should meet him, look i’ll call him now.” you reach for your phone in the pack pocket of your pants.
“YN.”
you stop halfway through clicking on seonghwa’s contact. “yes?”
he laughs a little. “it’s really not that deep, okay? i was just tired and i made it bigger than it actually is. so you don’t have to worry about it, and please don’t call your friend.”
“okay…”
a small satisfied nod, and he’s ready to go back to sleep, hopefully before the day ends.
“wait!”
he turns around yet again. his furrowed eyebrows and the small pout of curiosity on his mouth make you want to touch his face, just to feel if it’s soft or not.
“do you… do you want to stay? i have blood if you want.”
he chokes on spit and you bite your cheeks to keep from bursting out laughing.
when he’s back to functioning normally he considers the invitation and nods slowly, following you to the small kitchen table he just took up the stairs.
he sits on one of the two chairs and looks at the almost empty refrigerator. some bags of blood, a carton of almond milk, and some weird bottles that san thinks he's seen before at hongjoong's place, the witch usually brewing the potions to help with his friends' hangovers. just who are you friends with?
“how did you even bring the fridge here?”
you put a full glass of red liquid with a bright yellow straw in front of him. “it was already here when i came to take a look around. did your apartment not have one?”
he hums to confirm while taking a small box out of the pocket of his hoodie, and you can’t contain the amused gasp you let out.
“do you have fake fangs?!”
he puts something in the box and closes it, glaring at you with an offended hand on his chest. “my fangs are very much real, thank you. this is just my retainer.”
your laugh comes out before you can stop it, and he just sits there, in your packed apartment, a hurt frown on his pale face, aggressively sipping blood like a wronged child.
san knows you hate summer, but he’s happy that sakura miyawaki decided to find happiness in july.
SECOND SUMMER TOGETHER.
“hwa, i swear i’m okay, alright? it was a busy day at work and i forgot to charge it. i’m sorry i didn't answer your calls. i know you were worried.” phone balanced between your right cheek and shoulder, you maddeningly fish for your keys in your work bag to unlock the entrance door of the old, silent building.
it’s almost one in the morning, the family with the little kid on the fourth floor and the two old couples on the first have been asleep for at least three hours, and you’re trying to keep your late-night noises to a minimum, climbing the stairs on your tiptoes and being careful to not let your keychain clang against the metal railing.
when you reach the second floor and you realize that you forgot your very late dinner in your car parked fifteen minutes away because you couldn’t find a spot near the apartment, that’s when your resolve crumbles under the stress and the tiredness, taking you with it in the process.
with a quick, strangled goodbye to seonghwa, you hang up the phone and loudly plop down on the last step of the first floor, just in front of a familiar door. head in your hands, tears of frustration collecting on your lower lash line.
to say that you’re ready to give up would be an understatement.
if someone had told you you’d be going to university in the morning, work the first job after lunch, study, and then work your second job till after midnight and still not be able to pay rent without delays, you wouldn't have moved out of sakura’s apartment. hell, maybe you wouldn’t have moved out of your childhood home.
that’s actually a lie and you know it but these last few horribly hot and humid days have been making you question if you actually are as strong as you’ve always thought yourself to be. forgetting dinner in the car was just the last, short straw, that caused the tolerance for the frantic pace you’ve been living at to overflow, drowning you in doubts and paranoia.
you hear the door behind you slowly open but your head remains in your hands while tears silently make their way down your reddened cheeks.
“hey, baby.”
you let yourself smile through the pain at his calm voice and silly pet name you love to hate.
“hi, sannie…”
“are you okay?”
still not looking at him, you slowly shake your head no, missing the fond look that takes on his features.
“what’s the problem?”
you scoff. your life right now is just a bunch of problems in a trenchcoat, where do you even begin to tell him what’s wrong?
“if you turn me into a vampire do you think it’ll count as dying according to my life insurance policy?”
he laughs while leaning his side against the door frame, arms crossed and defined biceps standing out in his ‘this is the skin of a killer’ tank top…?
“what are you w-”
“i lost a bet to yeosang.” he closes his eyes in embarrassed contemplation.
“what-”
“i don’t want to talk about it.”
you raise your hands in defeat, biting your lower lip to suppress a laugh. your exhausting frustrations are almost completely forgotten. “okay… killer.”
he groans loudly. “look, i was going to ask you if you wanted to talk about it but apparently bullying me is all it takes to feel better.”
you chuckle. “for being centuries old you sure are such a baby, sannie. yes, i want to talk about it, maybe just not where we can wake everyone up?”
he throws one last glare at you before turning and inviting you into his home. “did you have dinner?”
you take off your shoes and unceremoniously drop yourself on the fancy couch in his big living room. “nope. that’s one of the reasons i was crying, actually.”
without saying anything he gets to work at the stove he apparently uses just for you. “don’t they let you eat before you start your shift? i heard you talking to seonghwa.”
“were you eavesdropping, sannie?”
he shrugs. “i hear everything that happens here. i can’t just plug my ears every time someone’s on the phone.”
you chuckle at his old man antics. “they’d let me eat but i barely make it on time every day. i go there directly from the library, i just don’t have time.”
a small hum to signal that he’s listening.
“the problem is,” you start, popping your head from behind the headrest of the couch to look at him work his magic on your food, “that even if i kill myself at work every damned day, i’m still not able to live without worries. if i want to eat i can’t pay rent on time, and it’s fucking tiring.”
“stop renting and just buy.”
silence.
you stare at the back of his head, and he must notice because he turns around with a questioning look on his face. “what?”
“‘just buy’? really?” you deadpan, “respectfully and all, but when you bought this apartment they were still using goats to buy stuff, san. that’s why you live in a huge ass house while i barely can afford a glorified closet.”
he turns to his stove muttering under his breath that he’s ‘not that old’.
you plop back down on the soft cushions. “i just want to be able to live the life i know i am worthy of. i work hard, i study hard, and i can’t even sleep without being scared of getting thrown out on the streets. and on top of that, my AC is not working and every time i step foot into that nightmare of an apartment i’m always on the verge of throwing myself out the fucking window.” you take a deep breath to calm yourself down. “i just wish something deus ex machina-style would happen to me to get me out of this misery.”
“you could come live with me.”
san hears you fall off the couch and on your ass.
“what?”
he switches off the stove and walks to his mahogany table at the center of the room, telling you that dinner is ready.
“i have a lot of spare rooms. you could come to live here, start saving some money for the life everyone who loves you knows you deserve.”
he always speaks like everything is so simple and while after you just met him it was sure to make your blood boil, over time it has become something to help you ground yourself when you feel you’re starting to spiral.
“i- but you’ve lived alone for so much time maybe-”
“maybe it’s time to switch it up, don't you think? besides, i like spending time with you and you have a concerning amount of blood coming directly to your door every friday, so if it makes you feel better i’m also taking advantage of you a little.”
you snort loudly, a moved blush creeping up on your still tear-stained cheeks. “i don’t know what to say, sannie.”
he smiles at you. his dimples seem to melt your resolve every time.“then shut up and come eat before it gets cold or i’m gonna give it to you for breakfast when you wake up tomorrow.”
“i’m coming, wait a second…”
he curiously watches as you quickly type on your phone. “are you telling seonghwa?”
you shake your head without looking at him. “asking yeosang if he has another one of those shirts.”
he throws a napkin at you while grumbling something about ‘regret’ and ‘welcoming a bully into his home’.
san knows you hate summer and his AC works perfectly so it was just logical to have you move in. right?
THIRD SUMMER TOGETHER.
you huff loudly, putting on every single piece of silver jewelry you own for your date night with your boyfriend —your dramatic flare making you dig for the accessories in the far back of your closet where you hid them when you started going out with him almost a year ago— and even if you’re not moving much, you can feel a sticky film of sweat start to form on the many exposed parts of your body that your clothes don't leave up to the imagination.
“babe. c’mon.” san deadpans from the door of your shared bedroom; a safe distance between him and the threat your accessories pose to him. his hands propped on his waist and a cute pout frowning his pretty lips.
you don’t acknowledge him in the slightest, and he closes his eyes solemnly; your lucky guess is that he’s counting to ten in his head just like how you taught him to do when he gets angry at wooyoung’s stupid teasing. then he speaks slowly, carefully, “so… just to check, you know… you’re angry at me because-”
before he can finish you snap your head in his direction with an unbelieving look. your earrings catch the light from the lamp in front of you and you can see san glare at them with not-so-subtle disdain. “san!”
his arms shoot up from his hips and his shoulders tense up in an exaggerated shrug. “what?! i just want to understand! are you going to blame me for it?!”
“fuck yes i am! it’s been a week, san! i’ve been talking about tomorrow for a week, and you don’t even remember?! how am i supposed to take it?!”
“okay, but what is tomorrow?!”
“just say you’re sorry!”
he dramatically gasps, holding a hand to his chest in offense, and you have to roll your eyes because you know that from his stubborn point of view, you just asked the unimaginable.
you just told him to walk in the sun without his protective amulet; you ordered him to feed on a puppy; you had the nerve to ask him if he could sell his original pikachu illustrator pokemon card for you to buy other silver jewelry. you horrible, beautiful creature, how could you.
“i don’t know what i’m supposed to be sorry for! i can’t apologize every time someone tells me to! i have a reputation!”
you scoff while applying your mascara in the mirror. “yeah, the reputation of being insufferable,” you mutter under your breath.
“i heard tha-”
“oh, i know! of course, you heard that, but apparently, you didn’t hear what i have been annoying all our friends with for a full week. even mingi knows what tomorrow is!”
he raises a finger, clearly offended by the fact that mingi of all people, stands on a step above him in your imaginary staircase of respect, and is about to say something before he just stops, lips in a thin line and eyebrows in a confused frown.
you look at him as he mentally scrambles to find in his vast memories what exactly you're talking about, and you can’t stop yourself from thinking that he looks so cute, flustered like this. not an immortal being at all. you do your best to suppress a smile.
after all, you physically need to keep playing with him a little more.
you’re not really that upset with him if you have to be completely honest. tomorrow is not as important as you’re making it out to be, but your fatal flaw is pettiness and you’ll die on the hill you’re finally standing on. you’ve been waiting so long for him to be the one to forget something important it’s not even funny at this point.
since you’ve met the vampire, you’re the only one who’s ever had to apologize and beg for forgiveness for missing "important" dates like his death anniversary (you weren’t even together at the time! who just remembers something like that!?), his party for the 233rd year from the french revolution (...), and your third monthiversary (in your defense you didn’t even know it was a thing), and he has always looked at your internal panic with the fakest annoyance and a small, smug smile.
he loved and still loves watching you come up with dumb excuses, and you just want- no, you need to feel what it’s like to possess such immense power.
while he contemplates all the choices that led him to this exact moment, you finish getting ready —spraying the expensive perfume he got you for your birthday— and wait for him to say something, anything. your arms crossed and an expectant expression on your blushed face.
one more minute of waiting and he sighs exasperatedly, his head shaking slightly in resignation. “alright, look–” arms reaching in your direction and palms out, you know from the soft smile that plays on his rosy lips, that he’s ready to make you win this time– “i’ll try harder to remember after dinner. you’re right, and i’m sorry for forgetting something important to you.”
victory.
he moves to gently unclasp your crossed arms, and you barely manage to escape his touch with an alarmed expression.
“what? what is it? i said i’m sorry.” he looks so lost and so cute you want to forget the date and cuddle him till one of you falls asleep. but you opt for an airy laugh and start taking off your jewelry.
“i've got silver all over me, sannie. apparently, not even that can keep you away, uh?”
he cackles, and once you’re free from the shackles that keep you away from him, he doesn’t waste time hugging your waist, effectively gluing you to his body. “oh, but baby, what’s a little pain compared to how much i already burn for you? i’d endure hell and what comes after that, marry you in a church if it meant i’d be able to hold you like this forever.”
stupid san and his old-man slick talk. stupid san and his honeyed, deep voice. stupid san and his love declarations on friday evenings after you fake-fight and makeup.
you hide your face in his neck. your blush creeps from your cheeks down your neck, and your next words are small, shyly mumbled against his cold skin that’s giving you some needed, sweet relief from the hot, humid air sticking to your skin and making you go crazy. “stop… we’re gonna be late for dinner…”
he chuckles, places one swift kiss on your forehead, and lets you go, albeit reluctantly. “speaking of which. what are we eating?”
“italian.” you run past him and out of your bedroom with a high-pitched giggle before you can see the bewildered and seriously affronted look on his handsome face.
“ARE YOU STILL ANGRY AT ME?! TALK TO ME!”
san knows you hate summer just like he can’t physically stand garlic so he doesn’t take well to your teasing.
FOURTH SUMMER TOGETHER.
san knows you hate summer and you love him.
he wishes it could be summer all year long so you’d always look for his cold body when you can’t fall asleep during hot nights and hum in contempt as he mindlessly caresses your face. when it’s winter he wishes summer could come faster so he can finally feel the years pass. so he can finally see you grow and flourish and become more beautiful every time the earth does another lap around the sum.
san knows you hate summer but he looks at you strangling his body in your hold like your life depends on it, and he can't help but thank fate or whatever it was that made you drop your bed down the stairs four years ago. he thanks seonghwa for bailing on you. he thanks you for being so enticingly weird and having friends who are just like him.
san knows you hate summer but another year with you adds another sweet and sweaty meaning to his immortal existence.

The Good, the Bad, and the Dirty part 1
A/N: So uh. This is my first Wolfstar FanFiction and the first one I post on this account so like…lotsa firsts here. Pls be nice if you comment…I worked really hard. Inspired by The good, the bad, and the dirty by Panic! At the Disco
Summary: Sirius messed up. Only he has no idea how to mak things right.
Warnings: Panic attack, crying, negative thoughts, umm…idk tell me if I need to add anything else
He screwed it up. He always screwed it up. That’s it. It was over. He shouldn’t have even tried to be in a relationship because he knew it would be doomed from the start and—
“Get on with it, Padfoot!” A very annoyed-sounding James said. “Why’d you even do that to him in the first place?”
Sirius felt a stab of annoyance mix in with the guilt already threatening to take over. “Hmm, let me think Prongs. I actually did it to hurt him, I mean, why wouldn’t I? OBVIOUSLY I HADN’T MEANT TO, IDIOT.” Sarcasm dripped from his words like water from a leaky faucet.
And he hadn’t meant to hurt Remus. All Sirius had waned to do was sell a couple items to some of the other Gryffindors, hopefully obtaining some extra money to buy Remus something for his birthday! But everything started to go wrong when Sirius sold something that couldn’t ever be replaced.
*^/^*
~The day before~
Sirius walked into the dormitory to nothing short of chaos. Clothes were strewn all about, somehow ending up on the ceiling way above their heads. A chair was on its side, halfway across the room from its original location. One of the curtains that hung from the beds was ripped and flung onto the floor in a sad heap, along with a trunk completely open and empty with its contents dumped on the floor. Random objects floated in the air, even snapped quills and smashed vials of ink haphazardly hanging completely still in the tense atmosphere.
Sirius let out a low whistle. James, who had been a few steps behind him on the stairs, suddenly entered and stopped dead in the doorway.
“Sirius,” he said slowly. “What. In. Godric’s. Long. Furry. Beard. Happened. In. This. Dorm.” Sirius opened his mouth to retort before the answer made itself known in the form of Remus skidding out of the bathroom and sliding into the floor, having slipped on a shirt that had been torn in half.
James took a deep breath. “Remus. I’m going to ask you a simple question, and I want a simple answer.” Another deep breath. “What the hell?”
Remus, however, wasn’t exactly paying his utmost attention. His eyes were wide and were everywhere at once, glancing at multiple points around the room in a matter of seconds. He was hugging himself tightly, scratching at his arms every few seconds.
The other two, becoming alarmed, approached him slowly. “M-moony? You okay?” Sirius asked softly. James could only gape, eyes nearly bulging out of his skull.
Remus didn’t seem to be paying them any attention, only shaking his head, muttering insanely to himself. He scratched harder at his arms, worrying Sirius further.
Moving slowly and keeping his hands in Remus’s eyesight, Sirius gently took his hands in his own, stopping him from clawing at his skin.
Though Remus, thankfully, was not scratching at his arms anymore, he still was muttering crazily to himself, glancing at everything so quickly, it made Sirius dizzy. His breathing was coming in short gasps, nearly at the point of hyperventilation.
“James?” Sirius asked. “D’you mind stepping back a bit? He’s having a panic attack, this isn’t good.”
James swallowed and nodded, going back a few paces.
“Moony.” Sirius said, directing his attention to Remus once more. He didn’t look at him. “Moony.” He tried again, firmer. “Hey. Look at me.” Sirius took Remus’ face in his hands, benignly directing his gaze onto his own face.
Remus’s panicked expression met his own concerned one. “P-Padfoo-oot?”
He was stammering horribly and his voice cracked in the middle, but that single word brought relief like nothing else could ever provide.
“Yeah, Moony, it’s me. I’m here. What’s wrong?” He added.
Remus was clutching at Sirius’s arms like Sirius was his savior from all the evil in the world. He whispered something. Too low for him to catch it.
“What’d you say, baby?” He was caught off guard when Remus started sobbing, almost hyperventilating again.
“I lost it I lost it I lost it. Sirius. I lost it,” he whimpered.
“Lost what, Moony? Tell me.”
“The locket. I lost the locket, Padfoot, I l-lost it. Tha-at was the th-thing that helped me, P-Padfoot. Before you gu-uys started coming w-with me ok those nights.” Another wave of tears was shed, and Sirius felt his blood run cold. It couldn’t be the same locket, could it?
“Remus, what did the locket look like? Was it silver, Moony? With a large red gem in the middle?”
But Remus didn’t answer. His jaw got tight, and a look of betrayal slid its way into his face. Shaking his head, eyes narrowed, he shoved Sirius away and sprinted out of the room and down the stairs.
It could have been a figment of his imagination, but Sirius could have sworn that he heard something; a very small, very hoarse voice whispering “How could you?”
*^/^*
“Well? What are you going to do about it, Padfoot?” James’s voice cut through the silence that had occupied the flashback.
He jumped, having forgotten the present world momentarily. He could still feel the guilt piercing through him like a stake through a vampire’s heart.
“I…I don’t know.” He stared determinedly at the floor, purposefully avoiding the exasperated gaze that he just KNEW was studying him as if he were a particularly fast snitch he had to figure out how to catch.
“You don’t know. You must have some idea of how to fix this! I’m sorry, Sirius, but you can’t keep hiding here forever, praying to Godric that Remus just magically forgives you.” James loved all his friends—with his whole heart—but he was getting tired of having this same conversation a million times over.
He knew that all Sirius needed was a little nudge in the right direction. Or perhaps just flinging him in the right direction instead would be more effective since otherwise Sirius would take two steps back for every one step he managed to go. If only he had a good metaphorical catapult (in the real-life form of words) to aid him.
“Don’t you understand,” Sirius started, and his voice contained millions of unshed tears, “that I have been racking my damn brain for the right way to fix this?” He took a step towards “I have spent literal hours thinking of what to do. And I have nothing.”
James’s eyes widened behind his glasses as he realized the implications of what he had just said.
“I’m falling apart, James.” James’s heart broke a bit.
They stood in silence for a while, each too caught up in their brainstorming to speak.
Then it hit him. And, though he would deny it until the day he died, his voice cracked with desperation as he yelled out a single idea that he remembered his own father had done for his mother when they were young.
“A LIST.” Sirius blinked, and then looked at him through narrowed eyelids.
“A what.”
James saw a gleam of hope in his eyes that sent a wave of excitement through him. “A list, Padfoot, keep up! You know, with the words after the numbers and they look organized if ya do it right and—“
“I know what a list is, Prongs.”
“Shut up for a second, Padfoot, that’s not my point.”
“Then get on with it, you moldy onion.”
“I will if you shut up, Sir Rotten Grape.”
Sirius rolled his eyes, giggling slightly. This might be his only chance to make things up with Remus and he felt giddy with relief.
“Now. As I was saying, a long time ago, you can make him a list of, I don’t know, all your favorite things about him or some cheesy crap like that. Maybe list how many ways you’re sorry or the different sized animals that are smaller than your love for him—just. Be creative. And make. Sure. He. Knows. How. Hecking. Sorry. You. Are.”
James, expecting Sirius to laugh at his idea, looked up to find him nodding thoughtfully.
“Yeah. That—that sounds great. Thank you so much, Prongs, I’ve gotta go,” He hugged James quickly, much to the other’s surprise, slinging an arm around his neck abruptly before dashing out as fast as he could.
“You’re welcome, I guess.” James said to the empty room, scratching the back of his neck.

Makai Ouji x Servamp oneshot
Inspired by an interview with the voice actors, Tatsuhisa Suzuki (who plays Tsubaki in Servamp) and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (who plays Berkia in Servamp AND Sitri in Makai Ouji). The translation was by @hatmirror , from this post (thank you so much for the translation!).
Suzuki wonders during every recording session how the hell Matsuoka ended up playing Berkia.
Matsuoka’s been interested in hedgehogs lately. They only spike up when they sense danger so they probably don’t actually hurt.
Matsuoka: So like… I want to be friends with Lawless and… roll him around in my hands :)
Suzuki: …You want to roll Lawless around… I think I can see what your deepest thoughts are now. You’re usually pretty repressed, huh? “I don’t care if you’re upperclass or whatever I just want to roll you around!”
Rolling Hedgehog
Makai Ouji x Servamp Crossover fic
In Hell, there were many types of demons. From fallen angels to former humans, looked down upon as Nephilims, there were many types indeed. Particularly shrouded in mystery were the seven Servant Vampires, known as Servamps. Servamps were vampires capable of forming a contract with a human, who would then be known as their Eve. In exchange for drinking and gaining power from their Eve’s blood, the Servamp were bound to serve their contracted human until one of them perished. As such, the seven Servamps tended to have a habit of avoiding Hell. The formal balls and parties, designed to establish contacts and kill time in the barren land, meant nothing to vampires like Lawless of Greed, who spent way more time serving his Eve on Earth than crawling around in Hell.
Yet, that did not mean that Servamps lack the obligation of attending parties organized by any of the Four Kings. Every few decades, like today, Lawless was invited to socialize with the members of Baalberith's faction. As the Servamp of Greed had already grown bored of his latest Eve, he was free to party in Hell as long as he wanted, unbounded by the distance limit that would have killed his human Eve within a day of separation. It was impossible for a contract to kill an already murdered man, correct?
Bathing in the warm light of the chandeliers as he casually leaned on a dining table, Lawless entertained the guests with his tales -- dramatically gesturing each actions and quoting lines from Shakespeare's plays. Then, a flash of blue caught Lawless's eyes. As a delicate-looking, cyan-haired boy passed him, Lawless instantly identified him as Baalberith's nephew. Sitri, was it? The 12th pillar of King Solomon, and one of the three candidates vying to rule Hell in place of Lucifer.
Intrigued by his solemn expression, Lawless excused himself from the circle of his audience and followed Sitri.
It was one of those useless events again. The race for the throne should have been more important than this. William should have been more important than this.. this lame party. Why couldn't his uncle understand that? Letting out a soft sigh, Sitri looked up to the red cloudless sky. He was now on the balcony, the chatters becoming whispers as the glass doors closed behind him. He thought that he was finally alone.
"Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs -- by William Shakespeare!"
Abruptly turning around, his claws drawn, Sitri was met with the sight of a blond-haired man gesturing to the sky in mock affection. His black scarf danced behind him like wings, invoked by his dramatic movements. Within that second, Sitri knew that this stranger would be as annoyingly troublesome as Gilles de Rais, his flamboyant attendant.
"What do you want?" said Sitri, ignoring the man's quote.
"Nothing at all, Lord Sitri, nothing at all," he answered, "I -- Lawless of Greed -- was merely intrigued by your presence. Are you not competing for Hell's throne? If you are, why are you here? Have you given up on the futile race?"
"That is none of your business, you Nephilim!" said Sitri.
Lawless of Greed... Now Sitri remembered the seven vampire siblings said to represent each sin. They were Nephilims who appeared a few centuries ago, although their origins remained as closely-guarded secrets among the siblings. His uncle had been charmed enough by one of them, known for murdering his Eves, that an alliance was offered to him. It would not be surprising for Lawless to be on the guest list, though the Servamp had not officially declared loyalty to any fraction.
"Oh but it does, Lord Sitri, for I am one of your supporters." In an instant, Lawless was beside Sitri, his hand combing the long strands of purplish blue hair. Sitri smacked Lawless's hand away, widened eyes blazing in fury.
"I don't need your support," growled Sitri. It was true. He already had Baalberith and, by extension, all of his uncle's supporters.
"Yet, you have no one who's truly on your side." Grinning, Lawless gestured to the inside of the castle-- toward the demons oblivious to their conversation. "You have no ally to call yours only, Lord Sitri... even Grand Duke Baalberith only sees you as his doll--"
"Shut up!"
Although his movements froze at the harshness of Sitri's voice, Lawless's smile remained wide on his face. The light in his red eyes brightened.
Finally, the attention of everyone else had been drawn toward them. The sharp spike in Sitri's aura was felt by all, causing wonders as to who and how.
With redden cheeks, whether by shame or rage, Sitri carved a gate back to Earth-- Lawless hot on his heels.
The birds chirped with ruffled feathers, huddling among the leaves and branches. A sudden flash of light chased them all away. The smell of Hell invaded the earth, known only to the animals and the demons. Rising from the small portal, Sitri stumbled onto the fertile ground. Sunlight shone into his eyes, penetrating through the gaps of yellowish green leaves.
Lawless would follow him soon, Sitri thought as he blocked out the sun with his gloved hand. It would be best to hurry toward the dormitory, though most students were in their afternoon classes.
"Lord Sitri~~!"
As he looked back, the high-pitch squeak grew louder and clearer. The voice came from somewhere among the grass at his feet. Sitri looked down, and was suddenly met with a ball of prickly spikes. Tiny warm paws clung to his cheeks, but he pried them away by pulling on the black and white quills.
As Sitri stared down at the abomination in his hands, he realized that it was a hedgehog. A black and white hedgehog with blood-red eyes.
"...Lawless of greed..?"
Even the name felt wrong on his tongue, unfitting for the insanely adorable creature curled up in his hands with paws pointed toward the tree tops. The grin, though, was unmistakable. It shared the same mischievous, annoying shine.
"The one and only!" cried Lawless, his voice filled with giddy amusement. His tiny paws batted the air. "Surprised?"
"You're.... a hedgehog..?" He almost said cute, Sitri thought with a scowl. "What happened to vampires being bats?"
Lawless grinned. "Of us siblings, only Old Child transforms into a bat when exposed to sunlight." It was brief, but bitterness glossed over and darkened the servamp's eyes as he thought about his family.  "Anyways, I am the one and only cute hedgehog of course!"
"Sure," drawled Sitri as he tightened his hold on Lawless before rolling him over.
"W-What are you doing?" The Servamp struggled, but Sitri's right hand was securely under Lawless's stomach while his left hand smoothed over the spines. "S-Stop!"
Entertained by Lawless's mewls and protests, Sitri continued the torture. As he grew bored, Sitri decided to roll Lawless over again. Now, his hands were switched.
"Stop haha-- stop rolling me a-around like a b-ball!"
"Too bad," said Sitri with a wicked smile. It was payback for annoying him just minutes prior.
"I-I get you back for this," said Lawless between the laughs forced out of his lungs. "I'm not a toy!"
