( * VERSE : RESIDENT EVIL !
her dreams were shattered . at least , that’s what she thought when she was expelled from the united states military academy west point for refusing to compromise who she was : a lesbian . she feared that the childhood dream she’d held so dear , to serve her country and protect the lives of the innocent and ensure what happened to her , her mother and her twin sister —— may their memory be a blessing —— would never happen to anyone else , was dead . all her hard work to get there , to excel as she did , for nothing . her entire life , she thought , was wasted .
but a few nights after her return to gotham city , she was woken up from a drunken stupor by a phone call from the captain of the gotham city police department’s special crimes unit , maggie sawyer . a call that would forever change her life , in more than one way . she listened intently as captain sawyer expressed how impressed she’d been by kate’s achievements at west point and all but jumped at her offer of a place on her squad . how could she turn it down —— this second chance she never imagined she’d get ?
a couple years on the squad and she finds herself completely in love with captain sawyer . they’re engaged and already building a life with maggie’s ten year old daughter , jamie . but kate’s happily ever after goes sharply south when jamie goes missing after running away from her father’s home to return to theirs to be with her mother . the investigation leads them to the discovery of a handful of facilities utilized in experiments for the umbrella corporation’s “ project resistance ” .
jamie is located safe and sound with a handful of teens and young adults previously missing and presumed dead , but the horrific number of bodies found piled in the waste disposal tell them that countless others weren’t so lucky . further investigation into the project and the umbrella corporation itself led the scu down a rabbit hole of bioterrorism that culminates in herself , her wife , and a few of their squadmates joining the bioterrorism security assessment alliance .
kate once again finds herself under captain sawyer’s command but this time it’s with global security in mind , not just gotham’s .
#█ ▌ VERSE. 〈 INTRODUCTION. 〉#█ ▌ FEAR CAN’T KILL YOU‚ BUT … 〈 RESIDENT EVIL. 〉#;)#I FEEL LIKE I'VE SAID THIS BEFORE BUT#i technically have 2 RE verses??#this one that actually adapts kate into RE canon#and then the other is basically an extension of my mainverse to treat RE as if it also eexists within the DC universe and#batwoman is an occasional operative of the BSAA just like she was an agent for the DEO for a while

Any advice for the people who are disappointed by S2 plotlines? I literally think the only redeeming factor of season 2 are jonathan and simone (amazing chemistry which I genuinely think will maybe be enough to make me ignore everything else) and the other cast members.😭😭😭 i also enjoyed a few moments. Im tryin the push it down your mouth until it becomes good method. I guess i loved the book too much. But I still cry every time i rewatch the ending thinking “HOW COULD THEY (The writers) DO THIS TO ME”. I got this advice from tumblr saying to think of it as an AU fanfic. Do u have any advice to give?
Hi! First of all, I'm really sorry. It's genuinely heart crushing when you love something so much and it's not the adaption you imagined. Especially when it goes as off course as S2 did.
I completely get what you mean-when I first finished it, and I binged straight it in a day, it wasn't happiness I was feeling. It was a weird mixture of shock and devastation, which began from the minute Anthony proposed to Edwina and I knew whatever I had hoped for was absolutely not going to happen and what was actually about to happen, but also happiness from K&A and internally (and externally) screaming as they did have a lot of incredible moments and Simone and Johnny could not have been more perfect. I loved them as K&A but I felt very let down by how they were treated as characters - particularly the dismissal of Kate's trauma and how they were both treated horrendously by their families.
Too much Fetheringtons and too little Bridgertons, and the Bridgertons were just so mean to each other at times? Compared to S1, it was a big shift.
There were things I loved though and I am really trying to focus on those elements of S2!
For advice, I've found a lot of comfort in fanfics. I would read pre-S2 fanfics to avoid any show content. Nothing really from S2 will be in them and there's so many wonderful fics on AO3-whether it's Canon, Canon Divergent or Modern AUs-with nothing to do with S2. I would recommend everything by these incredible writers- ironsidee, @yetanotheremptypage, @grantairesbottle, @wagamiller, @wall-e-nelson, @deadmunds-ghostbee, prncesslene, @jake-amy, red_rocks - I could read them forever.
If there's one comfort fic and S2 fixer to read, read a thousand cuts by @wall-e-nelson . It's the greatest fic you will ever read. It's phenomenal. It just explores every single inch of Anthony as a character and every nook and cranny of his relationship with Kate, his parents, his friends, his siblings-it's just beautiful, wonderful and absolutely heartbreaking in the best way possible. It's honestly a love story to TVWLM, to Anthony, to Kate and every single Bridgerton. A Hall of Fame fic until the very end.
Maybe a re-read of TVWLM? I haven't yet but I definitely plan to!
I think focusing on the wonderful content that has come from S2 and ignoring the parts you don’t like-the K&A edits, the Bridgerton edits, the gifs and the wonderful fics too!
S2 was an AU fanfic tbh. I'm very intrigued to how they're going to adapt the rest of the books as the Duke and I did keep the plot but TVWLM just didn't whatsoever. I hope they do but anything seems to be on the cards. The main couple for next season seems unclear atm from what they're saying but I hope they stick with Benophie. I hope they keep the essence and plot of AOFAG but I can see them integrating Sophie a lot more into the Bridgertons when she begins to work there which I wouldn't mind and also changing Benedict's behaviour as he was quite problematic in his book. I just hope they don't change everything again. Ben's storyline and ending and the Cowper screentime seems to be a Sophie nod, anyway.
I hope you find some joy in season 2 <3 and I hope this was somewhat helpful. Take care! <3

I am freaking out over all the Marvel news out of Comic Con. You?
Honestly, when I first got this ask, I was going to answer “no” because I legitimately hadn’t heard anything from Marvel at all. All I knew was that we were in for a bunch of Disney+ shows like Loki, which I wasn’t interested in, and Falcon and Winter Soldier, which I am interested in but concerned about.
But then I did a quick Google, and saw that there’s plenty of other stuff to be excited about, so here’s a listicle-style breakdown of what I am and am not excited for, as was released in the press junkets regarding the SDCC Marvel Hall H panel.
1. Black Widow: Nope, not interested. Way, way back in 2012, I might have cared, given that Natasha was LITERALLY THE ONLY WOMAN in the MCU with any agency or hero role, but now that we have significantly more women, significantly more interesting women, and women of color (who aren’t played by white women stealing roles from actual WOC lmao), I think we don’t really... need a Black Widow movie. I mean, cool that David Harbour will be in it, but, uh... yeah, count me out of that one.
2. Falcon and Winter Soldier: Yeah, I’m excited for this one! Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have a lot of fun chemistry, and I hope the series plays up the fun buddy-cop aspect of their relationship rather than “doom and gloom, Steve is gone, boohoo” stuff. They deserve to be heroes in their own rights and to not live in Steve’s shadow. Also, I’m not hugely into Bucky Barnes (I kinda find him boring, sorry) so I hope the series will, at least a little, start to endear me more to him. But I am very excited to see Sam getting more screentime!
3. Eternals: Eh, can’t really say. I don’t know enough about the original Eternals, nor do I have any information about who the new Eternals will be to weigh in. Ask me again when we’re closer to the release date.
4. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings: Honestly, some warning flags are popping up for me on this one. Much as I want more POC led MCU films (and just, fucking, like, any films in general), Marvel comics has a pernicious history surrounding Asian fetishism and mysticism. I’ve talked about it before with my hatred for Iron Fist, and the problems Marvel had during the big “Asian Craze” of the 60s and 70s, but I really do worry about re-adapting works based in and rooted in the comics made during those times. I don’t know enough about Shang-Chi’s origins to weigh in just yet, but I am on high-alert about how this could go wrong. Hopefully, though, with actual Asian and POC actors involved in the project, it will be done tastefully and respectfully. Hopefully.
5. WandaVision: Nah. I never liked either character to begin with so I’m not really gonna waste my brainspace on some TV show about a random white girl and her toaster boyfriend. I know that sounds mean but I have a lot of pent up anger about how the MCU depicted the Maximoffs, given that the Maximoffs were originally Jewish and survivors of the Hol*caust, but then somehow the MCU decided to make them not only white, but white people working with a literal N*zi organization. So I have beef with that, and I just... don’t care about Wanda or Vision. They haven’t been with us long enough for any of us to really, you know, see them have arcs or be meaningful people. They’re just kinda there. So no thanks. Maybe if the show turns out to be great, I’ll watch, but as it stands, I’m uninterested.
5. Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness: Eh. I never saw the original Doctor Strange because of the whitewashing issues and Benedict Cumberbatch’s, shall we say, history of anti-autism comments and classist perceptions about poor and undereducated people, so I just noped out of that. But I also didn’t like Stephen Strange from what I saw in the other MCU films I have seen him in, so I don’t feel like I’m missing much. If this movie turns out to be cool (apparently, it’s going to be the MCU’s first “scary” film, whatever that means?), I might see it, but for now it’s largely off my radar.
6. Loki: Nnnnnnnnnot especially excited. As I’ve said before, I like Ragnarok Loki, and that’s about it. 2012 Loki was, no joke, literally set up as a N*zi, and y’all know how I feel about N*zis. I’m not being hyperbolic. He is literally supposed to be equitable to a N*zi. So I’m disappointed that we’ve regressed all of his character development back in time to his worst stage, and we’re going to be seeing that play out in his show. Hopefully, the directors allow Tom Hiddleston to have more fun with Loki, because holy shit does Tom have great comedic timing, and I hope we get some redemption for Loki, because as it stands, I feel sad and hurt that they just threw away everything Loki grew into being. And if you’re one of those salty “Loki is a Classy, Intelligent, Sexy Villain, And Ragnarok Made Him DUMB, Give Us Back Our King” fans, please leave me alone. He was gross and greasy and weird and Ragnarok made him funny and likable, in me humble onion. Also, Loki is canonically not straight, not cisgender, and has been pregnant with horse babies, so, uh, let’s all just chill out and have some fun.
7. What If...?: The What If...? comics can be really confusing and fun, alternatingly. So it’ll be interesting to see how this show manifests itself to match the wild, changing, freewheeling chaos of the What If...? storylines. Let’s see what happens!
8. Hawkeye: FUCK I AM SO MAD THAT THIS ISN’T AN ANIMATED SERIES BASED ON THE HAWKEYE COMICS THAT CAME OUT RECENTLY. FUCK. I would have loved that! But instead we’re getting Ronin Hawkeye (which sounds so dumb and also question-mark-y racist?). At least we’ll be getting Kate Bishop, I guess. C’est la vie. Not a fan of the Jeremy Renner Hawkeye, tbh, so I don’t know how this show will keep my interest, but fingers crossed.
9. Thor: Love and Thunder: BUCKLE UP BOYS I FINALLY HAVE A MOVIE TO CARE ABOUT YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW AMEN PRAISE GOD WE HAVE A GOOD MOVIE COMING YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA FEMALE THOR AAAAAAAAAAAAA GAY RIGHTS YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
FUCK! I AM SO HAPPY OH MY G O D!
10. Blade: YEE FUCKING HAW! Mahershala Ali has been in the MCU three times now (1st as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, 2nd as Uncle Aaron in ITSV, and now as Blade!) and I’m both pleasantly surprised and a little confused, since the MCU very rarely reuses actors. Oh, well! I’m so happy to see him back and I hope Blade does him justice. I worry that the original Blade (comics and movie alike) were a little, uh, Blaxploitation-y, so I hope this update will be more thoughtful and more progressive in its depictions. But at the end of the day, this is one I’ll be watching.
11. Fantastic Four: I’m worried but hopeful. The last swings at making a Fantastic Four film have been, um, mixed to say the least. Fingers crossed for a diverse set of characters this time! Although I do think that David Harbour being in the Black Widow movie does rule him out of being The Thing, as was previously speculated. Well, anyway, here’s hoping it’s good.
12. Black Panther 2: SHIT BOI DO I DIE I AM READY YES YES YES YESSSSS
But please for the love of GOD bring back Ryan Coogler to direct. I don’t trust this story in the hands of, well, non-black people, especially because the story of Black Panther is so intrinsically tied to the black experience. That being said, I’m ready and excited for a return to Wakanda and to see what is next in T’Challa’s saga. Also, please, more Shuri, more Nakia, more Okoye. Honestly, Black Panther brought us some of the best women in the MCU so just... bring back all the ladies. Ramonda too!
13. Guardians of the Galaxy 3: I’m a little nervous about this one re: the issues surrounding the firing of James Gunn (which is, like, such a can of worms to get into), but fingers crossed. The GOTG films are really fun and such a great break from the rest of the dull, painfully self-absorbed MCU, so I hope that the light-hearted tone and center on found family comes back. I also hear that this one will be more female-centric (focusing on Gamora, I believe?) so that’s good to hear!
14. Captain Marvel 2: I didn’t see the first one, but, hey, my lesbian friends sure are happy to have Carol back so you’ve got my approval on that one, Marvel.
15. Mutants: DOES THIS MEAN...MCU X-MEN...I’M SCARED...SOMEONE HOLD ME
16. This one technically isn’t MCU but it’s what I’m most excited for...
THE SPIDERMAN 2099 COMICS ARE COMING BACK!
I’M SO HAPPY I GET TO SEE MY BOY MIGGY AGAIN I AM SO SO SO SO HAPPY OH MY GOD I WAS SO SCARED THEY’D PERMANENTLY CANCELLED MIGGY BUT HE’S HOME I GET TO SEE HIM AGAIN I COULD JUST C R Y AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
anyway, that’s just what I’m excited for. Y’all tell me if I missed anything or if there’s other updates or news! Or tell me what you’re excited for-- I’d love to hear!
#long post#messages#anonymous#k reviews#sorta?? this is all very preemptive so if shit turns out to be good i'll change my mind

The Twelve Days of Phlintmas: A Clint Barton/Phil Coulson Rec List - Day 7
On the seventh day of Phlintmas, my fandom gave to me:
Seven massive epics,
This set is all about LONG stories or series! I love to dive in to a nice long story and get to stay in that world for a whole weekend. Some of my favorite stories of all time live on this list, so find a free block of time and enjoy!
Words May Fail (The Body Remains) by ladyflowdi has the distinction of having made me cry in the bathroom at work. See, okay, I was reading on a break and I didn’t realize it was a WIP and the last chapter hadn’t been posted yet so I thought it ended when Phil died and I was EMOTIONALLY COMPROMISED, OKAY. But then I realized there was going to be another chapter so I felt better. ANYWAY this story is a great slow-burn with so much FEELING to it and their relationship is so precious to me and just read it for the PHEEEEELS and the catharsis.
Motion Practice (series) by thewordbutler is a series of epic stories set in an AU where all the Avengers work in the DA’s office of a fictional town. I love all the work that has gone into building the world and the relationships, and the plots are genuinely suspenseful and full of feels. One of my favorite non-powered AUs.
Washed Ashore by Kathar is a DELIGHTFUL AU where Phil, instead of going into SHIELD after the Army, became an island caretaker-slash-hermit, and he’s quite happy just living with his dog and his chickens and just going into town in the boat every now and then.... until a big storm washes a mysterious wounded naked man onto his beach. This is a great alternate take on canon, with a Phil who is still so very Phil despite his different path, and a completely charming ensemble of OCs that make the town feel so very real and familiar. Also, fantastic action and mystery plot, great romance, awesome feels, and A+++++ use of Skye, Kate, and America. I have such respect for Kathar’s ability to wrangle a long serial into something where everything ties up neatly and the plot and action are so good. I would love to watch the prestige television adaptation of this story, but alas I will have to content myself with re-reading over and over.
Landslide and Under Pressure by JHSC - When Landslide started posting I actually resisted reading it for a while, because I didn’t think I wanted to read a story about teenage Clint having a pregnant girlfriend. But I was wrong, I was SO SO WRONG, because Landslide is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL and I just cannot tell you in one Tumblr post all the things that are amazing about it but I will try. This series has one of the most nuanced, scientifically accurate, compassionate, and hopeful portrayals of mental health struggles I have ever read in a fic. Depression, alcoholism, grief, and PTSD are serious topics, but this story isn’t about suffering, it’s about living with and working through and having a good life even when you’re dealt a shitty hand. Landslide is uplifting and hopeful and GOOD, with such great characterization, amazing relationships, OCs that I want to be canonized, and some genuinely great twists and turns in the plot. If your life has ever not gone according to plan and you need inspiration to keep pressing on anyway, this is the story for you. After you read Landslide, read the sequel/companion story Under Pressure, which is technically still a WIP but is almost complete, and is EQUALLY AMAZING, like for serious it is SO GOOD and I would fight somebody for the honor of Paul Costa I swear.
Male Order Bride by faeleverte: I actually held off reading this story for a while when it first started posting too, because I was writing my own mail-order bride Phlint story and I didn’t want to cross the streams. Fortunately, my beta assured me that MOB wasn’t anything like HIH at all and I could read it without worrying that I was going to accidentally steal Fae’s ideas or anything. And she was right! MOB is a long, funny, sexy romp of a mission fic that manages to include so many tropes and make them all glorious. Mail order brides and fake relationships and undercover and identity porn and pining and smut and seriously, just read it, it is so great. Also I will just say: poor Jasper.
Snapshots on the Long Road Home by Jo (jmathieson) is a long, slow-burn, amazingly done story that deals with life and love after trauma in a thoughtful and sensitive way that I rarely see in fanfic. There are no magic healing dicks here, just love and trust and communication and lots and lots of hard work, but oh man is it ever emotionally satisfying and beautiful. Parts of it are hard to read but the payoff is spectacular. Jo is a favorite author of mine, and I love a lot of her stuff, but I think this may be some of the best writing she’s ever done.
Passepartout by Kathar, Laura Kaye, and faeleverte is my exception to my “no self recs” rule in this list, because I didn’t write the whole thing and my co-authors are super geniuses. Also, we JUST finished this after a year and a half, so I’m feeling like celebrating because we had no idea when we started how massive it would be but I really love it anyway. This story is pure distilled fanfic id. If we wanted to put something in, we put it in! There are crossovers and tropes and original characters and feels and found families and a Winnebago and also I got to write Steve going to a Captain America convention dressed as a badly-made homemade cosplay of himself, which is like a fannish bucket list item if ever there was one. Plus there is ART.
Six giant wieners,
FIIIIIIIIIIIIVE WEDDING RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!
Four AUs, Three soulbonds, Two Russian bros, and a story about TAHITI.
