Bloodied Waters
Pairing: Brienne of Tarth x Reader
Warnings: mentions of blood and slight violence, a tiny bit of angst, fluff, non-sexual nudity and intimacy. Slight canon deviation.
Synopsis: When Brienne returns covered in traces of battle, you give her comfort and safety - and a nice bath.
A/N: This has been sitting finished since July but I haven't wanted to post it for many reasons. For some reason I don't hate this fic anymore so I am taking the opportunity now so I can't revert back to my original state, lol. As per usual, English isn't my first language and all that.
Thank you to @daydream-cement for being the most supportive and encouraging friend I could ask for, and for reading this and giving me your opinion months ago.
Two months.
It had been two months since you had seen her last. Since she rode off to fight Gods knows what battle. In this time of uncertainty, you couldn’t be sure where she was sent off to anymore.
The imminent threat of the Night King and his army breaching The Wall weighed heavily on the land and it resulted in Brienne being away more than usual – but she had never been away this long.
You couldn’t be blamed when you began to wonder if she was still alive after the six-week mark and she hadn’t returned or been heard from. No one had from the company she had departed with. And when it hit eight weeks, your worries didn't get any better.
So, they were all either dead or still fighting for their lives. Those were the only reasons your stress-ridden brain could come up with.
If she had been removed from this mortal realm, she would have died alone. Alone somewhere. Probably in immense pain.
Even if it hurt you to even entertain the thought, you hoped her possible death had been fast. That way, she didn’t have to suffer.
Your heartbreaking thoughts were cut short by the sound of a horn, signaling that the group had returned and to open the gate. From your window, you could see a band of people on horses, three of them unmanned, which made you feel uneasy.
It was usually easy to spot Brienne in a crowd of people, but her straw-blonde hair was nowhere to be seen. The pit in your stomach that had been growing over the past weeks seemed to drop when you couldn’t find her.
Maybe the chance of her losing in battle was more probable than you had been willing to accept.
But until someone explicitly told you that she had perished in battle, you would have hope for her survival.
You witnessed as the gate was opened and the warriors rode in - the people and horses disappearing from view before the gate was once again closed.
Staring out the window and waiting for a knock on your door was only going to drive you mad, so you decided to pass the time in some other way.
Scurrying about your room, you tried finding something to do but restlessness got the better of you, and you soon found yourself waiting for that knock on the door that could either be the face of your love, or the worst possible news.
After fifteen minutes of silence, you started to land in the fact that she may not have returned, and the person who knew about your relationship was slowly making their way to your room to deliver the bad news.
You couldn’t take the agonizing pain so you left your room to venture for some hot water – hoping a nice hot bath might allow your tense body to relax. If even in the smallest bit.
When you returned to your room, hot water acquired, you were surprised to discover that there was no one waiting outside your door, nor had you met someone on your walk to or from. It was strangely silent.
The bath basin sitting in the adjacent room to yours looked more and more inviting by the second and you sprang into action before the water in your hands turned cold.
Pouring the large water cans with hot water into the vessel, you pondered how it would be to bathe with Brienne. How it would be to have such calm intimacy with the person you loved more than anything in this world.
The thought made you the tiniest bit sad and even if you wanted to keep the image in your head for as long as you could, you knew it was better to think about something else for now until you knew that the fantasy was a possibility.
You filled the rest up with the cold water from the large bucket next to the basin so it would even out to a nice lukewarm temperature.
Just as you were about to take your clothes off, a knock on the door disrupted your actions and you nearly ran to the door to open it – desperate for any piece of information regarding Brienne.
When you opened the door, you were met by a face you knew all too well, only this time, it was covered in dried blood, grime, and dirt. “Brienne, oh, Gods.”
You reacted quickly by ushering her inside your room and closing the door after her. She didn’t say a single word and her eyes were empty – apathetic and void of any emotion.
You didn’t know if the blood was hers or not but there was only one way to find out.
Carefully, you sat her down on your bed and undid her sword belt and fur cape before you began removing each piece of her dark armor, sneaking eventual glances at her emotionless face, your heart breaking each time she did not even make a move to look at you. She just stared dead ahead.
Never had you seen her like this before.
When all her armor was discarded, you were hit with the stench of iron, sweat, and mud – the smell of what you assumed to be battle. You moved your attention to her gambeson and gloves, working fast to get everything off to assess her condition – if she had been injured or not.
You remained quiet throughout your entire undressing of your girlfriend, if Brienne wanted to talk – she would. You assumed she needed some silence to process everything and just enjoy being back in a safe location.
The moment her gambeson and the rest of her clothing had been removed - you took hold of her dirty hands to guide her up to a standing position. You raked your eyes over her body and found nothing except for more blood, most likely having run down her neck and invaded the skin protected by the armor.
“The blood is not mine,” Brienne croaked out. The sudden noise made you jolt, your eyes snapping up to meet her desolate ones.
“Right...,” you responded, her statement confirming that she was not wounded in a way that would warrant blood. With your worries settled, you guided her to the other room. You had poured the bath for yourself, but she needed it more.
Slowly, she stepped in, her hand in a steadfast grip in yours as she descended into a sitting position until her entire body was underneath the surface – releasing a sigh once the water enveloped her.
You let go of her hand and grabbed a bar of soap sitting on the table next to the basin and she let the hand you had previously been holding fall under the water as well.
Brienne sat in the basin, staring into nothingness – her breathing slow. You rolled up your sleeves, kneeled next to the tub, and submerged the bar in the warm water before you began gently cleaning her skin from the stench and the mud and blood that tainted her soft skin.
Starting with her face and neck, you used your hands to gently apply the soap and you observed the suds turning a brownish red as it mixed with the blood and dirt on her skin.
As your eyes scanned her face, you noticed that her disheveled blonde hair had also been soiled by blood spatter and dried mud.
“Close your eyes.” It was a gentle command, and Brienne complied – closing her eyes without question.
Using a cloth, you dunked it in the water and allowed it to soak before wringing it out – bringing it to Brienne’s face to wipe away the lather. You dipped it in the water again to rinse it, but you caught a glimpse of it before you did – the color of the froth alien on the white fabric.
With her face now clean, you moved on to her hair.
Normally you’d utilize your own mixed hair wash for this, but you didn't wish to leave Brienne in her current state to go and collect it. Soap would have to do.
Your movements were slow and calculated as you pressed gently on the bottom of her chin, signaling for her to lean her head back. Brienne complied and tilted her head back and you maneuvered yourself so you could have the perfect view needed to wash her dirtied hair.
Utilizing one of the jugs you had carried the water with, you dipped it in the water to fill it up and used it to wet Brienne’s straw blonde hair, going over it once or twice before you were confident that all the strands were permeated.
You grabbed the bar of soap once again and dragged it against the palm of your hand – getting a decent amount on it before placing the bar to the side and rubbing your hands together. Tenderly, you started massaging the soaping into her blonde curls and scalp, making sure that all the dirt and blood loosened from her locks.
Brienne hummed as your hands mildly rubbed her head – adoring the alleviating feeling it gave her. The feeling of comfort and security. Her eyes were still closed, and she could feel the corners of her lips twitch the tiniest bit as you pressed a kiss to her forehead before moving to fill the jug with water to rinse the soap out of her hair.
You worked softly and slowly when you combed your fingers through her locks – pouring the water over her hair as you did, making sure that all the lather was washed away.
With her hair, face, and neck clean – it was time to wash the rest of her body.
You moved away from the head of the basin and switched to sit at the side of it again, kneeling next to it. You grabbed the bar of soap and immersed your hand into the water that was starting to turn red at this point and started to cautiously drag the bar across Brienne’s chest – removing all the dried blood and dirt.
Whilst one of your hands was in the water, the other one rested on the rim of the basin, right next to Brienne’s ear, and before you knew it, you felt her leaning her head against it. A small smile started playing on your lips at the intimate position you had found yourselves in.
You had never experienced this type of closeness with your knight before – it was incredibly heart-warming and you wouldn’t complain if you found yourself in this position again; without the blood and dirt, of course.
Brienne’s head rested against the back of your hand at the same time as yours worked on washing her arms, hands, chest, stomach – anywhere you had seen dried signs of battle.
You enjoyed every single second of the casual intimacy. The fact that there were still new ways to be so deeply close even after so many months made you incredibly giddy inside even when the situation you discovered it in was somber.
Like it had the entire time, the only thing filling the silence in the room was the splashing of the water as it hit the sides with your hand continuing to move as it scrubbed Brienne’s skin. It remained like that for a very long time until the blonde woman opened her mouth to speak for the second time since she had come home. Your hand that was scrubbing her sides halted briefly before continuing - her voice surprising you. “Thank you.”
“For what?” You couldn’t help but inquire as to why she was thanking you. What you were doing right now only seemed like the most obvious choice. You took care of each other in any way the other person needed, and you were more than happy to offer her this small service.
She was quiet for a few seconds before she spoke again – her voice low, almost like a whisper. “For this... and for giving me a reason to keep fighting. It... It didn’t look very promising for a few moments, and I was... I was harboring the idea that I would never return to you again.”
You leaned forward to press a kiss to Brienne’s forehead as you continued scrubbing her skin beneath the surface of the water. “This is the least I can do for you... you take care of and for me every day. I wanted to return the favor. Thank you for coming back to me. And you’re welcome. I’m glad to provide you with a reason to keep fighting if it’ll bring you back to me each time.”
Brienne hummed and whined slightly when you removed your lips from her skin. To have someone care for her in the way you did made her feel so gleeful and she was so grateful for you and all you did for her. “Still... Thank you.”
“Anything for my knight.” You smiled as you washed her and finished your response – already knowing the next words coming out of her mouth.
The blonde woman chuckled slightly and silently, having had this exact interaction with you many times before. By now, she knew you did it as a way of making her smile and it worked; every single time. “I’m not a knight.”
“To me you are. You’re my knight.” You saw the smile that crept up on Brienne’s lips at hearing your words, even if she had heard them many times before at this point. “Besides, if you were a man, we both know you’d be a knight by now. You have the traits of a knight, so in my eyes, you are a knight. Even if you don’t have the title.”
Brienne adjusted her head to press a kiss to the back of your hand before returning to rest her cheek on it again. “You’re too nice to me. Thank you.”
“I only treat you in the way you deserve to be treated. Not my fault you’re such an incredible person.” You said this in a way that made Brienne smile and blush – something that you did with ease many times over the two years you had known the adorable knight. It only got worse once you began your relationship because it made you able to be more frank with your compliments.
The blonde didn’t offer a response to your words – silence filling the room once again. The way Brienne spoke about the battle, it seemed to have gone bad, so much so that she thought she wouldn’t make it. You knew she would talk to you about it if she needed to and you had no reason to ask but a part of you wondered what happened that caused her to see no hope.
The rest of the bath went by in tranquility, the occasional kiss on Brienne’s forehead and the planting of lips on your hand mixed with the comforting sounds of water making the second part of the experience a very pleasant one.
After helping Brienne out of the now red-stained water and planting her before the burning fire in the other room to dry with a fur wrapped around her, you told her to stay put before running as fast as you could to her room to collect her comb, and dry and clean clothes for her.
You didn't wish to leave her but the clothes she arrived in were bloody and dirty, and you knew Brienne would appreciate the gesture.
When you returned, she sat with her legs drawn up to her chest with her arms wound around them on the fur you had put on her.
You slowly approached her and sat down next to her – her folded clothes placed on your bed, the comb resting on the pile. “Hi.”
Her skin was dry now. Her hair was still a bit damp but you knew it wouldn’t be long until it was fully dried as well.
Brienne sighed and leaned her head against your shoulder. She stared into the crackling fire – the flames dancing in her beautiful blue eyes. “...Hi.”
“How are you feeling?” You wrapped an arm around her naked form and pulled her close to you. You had missed her so much and you were not ready to let go anytime soon except to get undressed to join her in bed.
“Better now... A little tired.” Brienne hadn’t had a decent night’s sleep in weeks, and she was exhausted at this point. The adrenaline had finally worn off completely and she felt the fatigue creep up on her like she had expected it to once she was back in your safe company.
“It’s getting late... Do you want to go to sleep? I will deal with the water tomorrow.” The sun had started setting as you were washing Brienne and it had been well below the horizon for a while now. You pressed a kiss to the top of the knight’s head and awaited her answer.
“Yes, please.” Brienne sat snuggly in front of the warm hearth, but she knew that it was much nicer to be in your embrace. It was warm, cozy, and oh-so-comfortable.
“Okay... Let’s get you covered and tucked in.” You stood up and began removing the things scattered about the bed. Brienne’s discarded armor, her dirty clothes, her cape, and her sword were swept off the mattress and placed on a round table close to the hearth. Her clean clothes and comb remained on the bed, and you squatted down next to her to lay a hand on her shoulder. “Do you want to get dressed?”
Brienne leaned her head against your hand and closed her eyes. “No. I want to feel you pressed against me entirely. I don’t want clothing to restrict me from sensing all of you.”
You almost melted from her sweet words. You rubbed your thumb against her skin, the pad of it grazing against the tip of one of her scars. “Alright, my sweet Brienne.”
The knight lifted her head from your hand and you slid it down her arm – leaving it to rest on her bicep. You gently rubbed it up and down as she opened her eyes and stood up.
You swiftly removed the pile that was on the bed and placed them on the table as well. You would have to comb her hair tomorrow instead.
With the bed empty, Brienne could pull off the furs and crawl in under them – covering her bare body and providing her with warmth and comfort for the first time in weeks.
She laid on her back as she watched you undress, folding your clothes and placing them on top of your trunk.
You finally crawled into bed and cuddled up next to Brienne, her skin incredibly soft. She hummed as you slung one arm and leg over her torso, bare skin against bare skin, and rested a hand on your thigh.
Her other arm went around your shoulders and pulled you closer – your head resting on her chest.
Her rhythmic heartbeat was a consistent reminder that she was indeed alive and still with you. After two months of being apart, the whole situation felt imaginary, but her steady heartbeat let you know that it was real – that she was indeed with you. “I can hear your heartbeat.”
Brienne’s hand on your thigh rested securely and her thumb drew soft lines across your skin. She smiled at your words as she kept her eyes closed to invite slumber. “It’s beating because and for you.”
Her words caused you to pull yourself even closer to her, which was impossible to do at this point. A smile and a blush crept up on your face, she always said the most adorable things and you had no idea what you did to deserve her love, but you were so thankful for her. “You’re sweet. I love you so much.”
Brienne chuckled quietly and you could tell she was close to falling asleep by her voice. “You bring out that side in me... what can I say? I love you, too. Thank you for being here when I returned.”
“I will always be here when you return,” you whispered. You were starting to feel the weeks of worried sleep catch up to you by now and you were more than ready to finally fall asleep in her embrace once again.
The only response Brienne gave was a hum and it fell silent after that.
You heard the knight’s breathing even out after a few minutes, and it signaled that she had fallen into a slumber that you hoped was a deep and restful one. You could only imagine the conditions she has been having to sleep in, and you couldn’t see them being comfortable.
You listened to her breathing and heartbeat for a few more seconds before sleep claimed you as well. Now back with a safe Brienne, you knew that you’d sleep incredibly well. You always did with her.
When you awoke the next morning, Brienne would kiss you all over to make up for two months of being away from one another. But that was up to you in the future to find out. Until then, you were more than happy to finally be with her again, and you remained clinging to your knight all night long.

I know the Sak/ura stuff happened hours ago, but I just happened to see it, and I have a couple Thoughts (along the same lines as you & the other anon were talking about - i'm not trying to convince you of my opinions or anything, i'm just casting them out into the world)
When I was first watching the original Naruto series, I honestly thought she was pretty annoying - but in fairness, I thought they ALL were annoying. And that's okay! Because they're all like 13 during that series, and who isn't annoying at that age?? I know I was for sure
But I think the reason I love her is mostly from what she could have been. And I think the scene from the chunin exams where she cuts her hair could've been the perfect turning point, where she could have realized that while she loves sas/uke, she's not IN love with him (no hate to people who ship them, I just don't) and could have moved on to being her own person
And I loved that she was at least slightly more mature during shippuden (and had the first akatsuki kill!!), but it seemed like every time sas/uke was mentioned, she almost reverted back to how she was at 13, and I think that's unfortunate
And obviously everything ends up coming down to the writing and the story, I just think that it's unfortunate how it ended because she seemed to have so much potential, but every time the story provided the perfect opportunity for her to fulfill it, she didn't and I just think it's unfortunate
Now obviously, she's not perfect, and did some kinda fucked up things (the way she treated nar/uto during the academy & while they were genin, and even during parts of shippuden, among other things), but I feel like that honestly gives her more potential or possibility for growth that she never gets
because that's the thing, people aren't perfect, good people do bad things sometimes, and bad people can do good things. Nothing is ever truly black and white
Anyways, I didnt mean for this ask to be so long, sorry about that
Nah that's super valid!
She had so much narrative potential as a character. Sadly, it felt like she was always made to play second fiddle to Naru/to and Sas/uke - whether she was fulfilling the in-universe acknowledged role of 'girl specifically put on a team to make boys fight over her, so the boys can become stronger', or only getting one badass boss fight against Sas/ori, while Nar/uto and Sas/uke have SO MANY AMAZING FIGHTS.
But y'know what? This could've been a REALLY INTERESTING THING TO EXPLORE.
Obviously, it's a bit cringe that so many of the 'main' women in Naru/to are medics (Sak/ura, Shi/zune, Tsu/nade, and In/o, I believe...). There comes a point where it's just feeding into the 'healing and nurturing support-class women' stereotype, even if medics are badass and they can Punch Stuff HardTM.
But if Kishi/moto had truly committed to giving Sakura more screentime and delved deep into what it's like to be a battlefield medic, the trauma of not being able to save everyone, and how she formed her own identity separate to the boys that wasn't centred around fighting... I would LAP THAT SHIT UP.
I mean, sure, she starts a therapy centre in Bor/uto... but I want more on-screen development!
I want her to slowly realise her own self-worth, and stop comparing herself to her two literal god-level teammates!
I want her to make a name for herself among civilians! Of Team 7, she's the only one born to civilian parents, and that's a link I'd love to see explored.
Of course, that's not possible, because Nar/uto is a shonen manga and the focus is always going to be on Wham Bam Big Fight Scene. Sak/ura could've had an incredible arc, but she's hampered both by the writer and the genre. I understand, but I think there were ways that the manga could've kept its shonen feel without doing her character such disservice.
Give me a Sak/ura arc where tensions between civilians and shinobi in the village are rising, and Nar/uto, Sas/uke and Kak/ashi are blind to the problem, because they're all so entrenched in the shinobi world. Give me a Sak/ura arc where she gains her own super badass technique and has her own boss villain to fight. Give me a Sak/ura arc where - maybe even after having Sar/ada! - she starts to question her relationship to Sas/uke and how she acts around him, and starts demanding more respect!
Obligatory note that I haven't watched much of Bor/uto so maybe Sak/ura and Sas/uke have a vaguely healthy relationship now and they've worked out all their issues... idk slkdfjhgksjdg
But just - yeah. She deserved better. As a result, I can understand why people disliked her in the anime, and loved her - for all the reasons you said.

Pone Reviews 109: What Lies Beneath
Happy Autumn to you (because I don't know what day you are reading this on) and welcome back to Pone Reviews! I'm back, baby! There's been a lot going on in my life and I've needed a bit of a break. I'm hoping to nail down a new writing schedule soon. Nevertheless, I am ready to share my thoughts on this episode. What happens when the Young Six find a strange floor grate in the library? We'll find out in "What Lies Beneath!"
Let's start with the moral. "Any creature has friendship in their nature." Sweet sentiment. It's nice to think that a creature of any race, gender, sexuality, national origin, disability, and more can be buddies. But it ends up feeling like one of those morals that I think falls a bit flat on the relatable side. This doesn’t have the same anti-racism overtones as the moral in “School Daze," and that's where I think it's faulted. It's not implying a majority race can be friends with a minority race - it's suggesting more interspecies relationships. Today's kids know that races different from theirs are still humans just like them! So does that mean interspecies friendships are a good thing? With a dog, cat, or fish, maybe... but not an alligator or a lion! A friendship with an alligator or a lion can only happen in a Disney movie! The episode was entertaining, don’t get me wrong, but this just leaves me so... confused.
Onto the plot. As the Young Six are studying for a History of Equestria exam, Cozy Glow puts doubts into their minds that friendship is in their respective natures! Will their minds be changed when they discover an underground part of the School seemingly no one knows about? Here we are, another Young Six-themed episode. And a cute one at that! We know they have insecurities about things, but they're finally explored here. Sandbar is suffering from a classic case of hero worship. Silverstream is terrified that the Storm King isn't entirely gone. Yona is freaked out by spiders. Gallus hates being in enclosed spaces. Smolder doesn't want to admit she can be cute. And Ocellus is ashamed of her past and fears she'll revert back to it. And yet they are only concerned about their friends when they get past their respective challenges. The friendship lessons have made an impact! I adore the bond these six creatures have formed. It feels different from the Mane 6's bond since they're all different species with different backgrounds. A pony used to the simple life in Ponyville (save the occasional bugbear). A hippogriff that spent years underwater so as to not be threatened by the Storm King. A yak with a rich, prideful culture. A griffon who grew up in arguably the least kind land in Equestria. A dragon with nerves of steel who wasn't ready to embrace pony culture. And a changeling who fed off love for most of her life and has only recently learned that there's so much more to experience. Friendship brought these six together and it has been such a great thing for the show. Oh, and as for Cozy Glow? Something is... definitely up with that filly. Can't say why. I just know it.
Here are some more strong points in this episode:
*If anything, my favorite part of them all is when Smolder and Gallus - the characters most stubborn and resistant to friendship - admit they aren't like others of their race and genuinely want to help their friends. They've come a long way.
*I also really appreciate how Sandbar looks up to the professors - all women. Our society won't allow boys to like playing with Barbies or Disney Princess dolls. It's refreshing to see a boy with a real appreciation and admiration for his female elders.
*Whoa, the Tree of Harmony can become sentient?! Awesome! It took over 1,000 years for it to do that, so now I'm curious how long it took to gain its other powers (especially that one where it MELTED CHRYSALIS'S CLONES).
*Holy cow Sandbar's face when "Rainbow Dash" and "Rarity" tell him they need him is SO ADORABLE!
*This is gonna sound weird, but it’s a bit of a relief that Smolder actually likes traditionally cute things like dresses and tea parties. This show likes to stress that the “macho” characters (Rainbow Dash, for example) can’t be associated with cute things when we all know that is a damn lie.
*It's actually pretty interesting that Yona's fear is spiders because you wouldn't think there'd be many spiders in a cold habitat like Yakyakistan. Or... MAYBE THAT'S WHY THE YAKS MOVED TO YAKYAKISTAN IN THE FIRST PLACE! TO GET AWAY FROM THE SPIDERS!
*eeeeevil. Eeeeevil. EEEEEVIL. (You know who I'm talking about.)
And here are some weaker points from this episode:
*Let's be real here: How do the Mane 6 (or at the very least, Twilight) NOT know about that floor grate? It's not like it's very hidden. You'd think somepony as meticulous as Twilight would comb every inch of the school to make sure it was perfect before opening. Or... maybe Twilight did know about the grate and didn't tell the students on purpose knowing something like this would happen?
*I have to ask, what's the timeline here? The Young Six are exhausted after exiting the cave in the early morning. But they seemed to be in the cave for... a few hours, at most? Let me deconstruct this: Cozy said she'd give the Young Six her notes and mentions she returned with the notes to find the students gone (notes she does visibly have when the Young Six return). The transition between Cozy's words and the Young Six studying irritably can't be more than a few minutes long. Considering each of the Six must have been going through their trials relatively simultaneously, it realistically must have not been a 7-8 hour period as we're led to believe. (Yes, I do have problems with weird timelines. Remember my complaints about "A Health of Information?")
*Aww sweet more Chrysalisoh it's just Ocellus. (Not that I'm complaining - Ocellus is my sweet little cupcake - but damn I miss Chryssy.)
*As cute as Silverstream's love for plumbing is, it's making me ask questions about hippogriff/seapony plumbing that I didn't want to ask.
*Cozy Glow climbs a ladder when she can very well fly. (And her wings can carry her weight, unlike Scootaloo!)
*The Storm King and Storm Guard rock formations are a lot scarier than the actual Storm King and Storm Guards. :/
*Okay, I’m officially starting to question some of Twilight’s curriculum. She’s teaching her students about the Tree of Harmony and its history. Yet she told the CMCs that they couldn’t attend the school because they’ve practically aced the curriculum and they need Cheerilee’s lessons. Does the Tree of Harmony’s history not count as a needed lesson? It was planted 1000 years ago and has certainly done a bunch for Equestria in nine seasons.
In short: An adventurous episode with a really flat moral and friendship is zzzzzzzz. EEEEEVVVVVIIIIIILLLLL! 4 out of 5 rainbows 🌈🌈🌈🌈
It feels good to be back. Thank you for reading. I'm gonna nail down a new schedule for myself soon and I hope you guys will bear with me. Let's just say that the next review will cover my favorite episode of the season! Diamond out!

Just a little something I wrote, mostly so I can justify potentially writing more in the future, detailing how Haruto might have woken up after that dumpster fire of a finale. Epilogue doesn’t count, but so far, that’s really the only thing that has changed.
Nearly a month after the final battle, Tokishima Haruto started to stir from the coma his memory loss had fuelled. As the medical machinery around him began to register change in their displays, a few select cell phones received texts from the contact known as “Rainbow”. The owners of those cell phones justifiably dropped what they were doing and rushed to the medical wing.
Rukino Saki, the one and only pilot of Carmilla, was the first to observe Haruto’s life signs with her physical eyes, and whilst she would never have admitted it, a few tears may have started to well up. They were gone by the time the room was filled with the others who had been notified.
Because it hadn’t just been a month since Haruto had fallen comatose in the cockpit of 01. It had been a month of massive changes for the citizens of Module 77, and even more so for the pilots. Without Haruto as a source of runes, the Valvravn had stopped working, reverting to the original white colours.
“Pino, what is the condition of Tokishima Haruto?” L-Elf asked, in his usual straight-to-business tone.
“It worked! It worked!” The AI of unit 01 responded, seemingly as hyper excited as ever.
Shoko heard her phone beep indicating a text.
“Akira says she wants to know if she can use Little Witch again” she said as she read the text. She paused. “She also wants to know what happened. Specifically I want to know why Haruto was different to Marie”
Pino paused in her exclamations. On the display, Prue seemed to be rubbing his forehead with an expression on his face that clearly said “Oh lord, must we encourage stupidity?”
Pino’s face grew sad. “Marie’s limiter was broken. She couldn’t hold onto her runes..Even if I had given them back to her” If she had been a physical human, Pino looked and sounded like she would have burst into tears.
L-Elf nodded. “So you gave Tokishima Haruto back his runes before the Valvrave could use them. And because his ‘limiter’ isn't broken, they stayed inside him?” Pino cheered up a little at the statement
“Yep! That’s why the other Valvraves aren’t working. There’s no runes in the RAVE engine! But now that Haruto’s awake, I won’t be so hungry any more!” Pino exclaimed. Saki got the implications of what she had said right away.
“Everyone, get out.” She demanded. The others in the room looked at her, confused. Shoko looked a little hurt.
“But I kinda wanted to be here when he woke up” she pouted, and Saki glared at her.
“If what Pino just said is true, he’s going to feed on the first one he sees, and I’m the only Kamitsuki around. I can take it.” Shoko started to respond, but L-Elf cut her off.
“Very well. Rukino Saki, contact us when it is..safer to be around Tokishima.” He started to shepard Shoko out of the room, but spared a look in Saki’s direction. If the girl didn’t know any better, she’d have thought that he was…no, there was no way he could’ve figured everything out. He was good, but surely he wasn’t actually a prophet? Once the door closed, Saki looked at the camera in the corner of the room.
“Akira..can you..turn off the cameras..” Moments later, a text message appeared.
Why?
“Because…I..Do I really have to say it?”
Apparently. He’s just gonna bite you, and someone should keep an eye on his vitals and such..
Back in Little Witch, Akira was looking confused at why Saki would want her to close off the cameras. Saki’s face filled the cameras view screen as she moved close.
“Please Akira? I can explain it to you later. But..” she was whispering, but she trailed off anyway, blushing. Soon, another text appeared.
Fine, the camera is off. Reset the switch at the back when you invite everyone in again
Unbeknownst to Saki, Akira had done nothing. She felt a little bad for lying to her friend, but she was acting odd. Something was up and Akira was gonna find out what.
As she moved back closer to Haruto, Saki passed the display that showed both Pino and Prue.
“Pino…Will he..Were all his memories restored? She asked, softly.
Pino answered quickly. "Yep! Everything is as it was!” Saki moved to switch off the display, but Pino caught her attention. “Just make sure he eats more. I don’t know if I’ll be able to bring him back again if he doesn’t eat.”
“I’ll tell him” Saki said as she pressed the button and the screen went black. Then she sat down on the bed, and began to unbutton her school uniform, which of course, she was wearing.
-
Akira was looking at the screen even more confused than before. Saki had taken off most of her clothes and gotten into the bed with Haruto! And now she was…snuggling with him? From the camera’s viewpoint, Akira could see that Saki was whispering into Haruto’s ear, but the camera’s mic wasn’t sensitive enough to make out the words. Were Saki and Haruto…together? But that made no sense. Haruto loved Shoko. Perhaps he hadn’t acted on it too much lately, but Akira was sure that it was still the case. And if Saki and Haruto were together, it would mean that Saki had lied about her motivations for getting into Carmilla in the first place. But if that were true…what else had she lied about? And furthermore, if they were together…was that why Saki had asked everyone to leave? So that the pair could have some 'alone time’? Akira blushed at the thought. Although, the baser side of her liked the idea of watching the two of them…She quickly shut those thoughts down. Now that there wasn’t a war going on, her hormones seemed to have been making up for lost time. The redhead reached out and grasped a pack of wafers that was floating inside the cockpit of Little Witch. If she was going to be watching a bit of action, she may as well have a snack.
-
Haruto..Haruto…
“That’s me” the boy thought, as he tried to locate the sound in the space he was in. Mostly, it had been the same space he’d been in for a while now. Occasionally he would be thrown into a scene as his memories fought to regain their places in his mind, but Haruto didn’t know that. All he knew was that someone was calling him.
“I’m here” he responded, or tried to at least. He had no way of knowing if his voice reached the other sound. But if someone needed him, he wanted to help them.
“That’s my Haruto. I know you can hear me now. All you gotta do is wake up. Then you can get back to the fun bits of life”
“Fun bits of life? No..I’m too cursed to ha-” Abruptly, Haruto felt a phantom flash of..something on his cheek.
“And off you go about the curse again. It’s getting old Haruto. Wake up so we can have this argument in person”
Didn’t the voice have any idea what the curse had done to the pilots? What he had done to Saki? He tried to voice his concerns, but only received another phantom flash. It was different this time. Hotter.
“Curse and Saki…you have a way with words Haruto. It was months ago, get over it. Although it’s good to know you remember that far back.”
Get over it? What? He had done horrible things to her. How could he get over it? He had to take responsibility. “I have to take responsibility. I can’t do that to anyone again” he said, trying to make his voice reach the other, somewhere out in the black distance.
“Still going on about responsibility? Bad news, you’re still a Kamitsuki. We all need to feed somehow. So wake up and get to it”
He still had to feed..consume humans for their runes…of course he did. Wait..the voice had said 'we’. That meant..it had to be Saki that was talking, because Akira wouldn’t have left Little Witch. “Saki?” He asked, almost afraid that the voice would confirm who was talking to him.
“Yeah, it’s me. Don’t worry, it’s just us. You can feed on me and no one will know. It’ll be our little secret” the voice, Saki’s voice, seemed to lower a little, almost as if she was whispering. And Saki wanted him to feed on her? Was she insane? It would be like last time…Haruto stopped his thoughts there. No, it couldn’t happen again. He had to wake up, get away from her. Find L-Elf. He had fed from L-Elf without going out of control, he could do it again. It was only when Saki spoke again, did he realise he must have said part of that out loud.
“Well personally I like to think I’m perfectly sane, and I don’t think L-Elf would want to be a part of it. Or at least I don’t want him being a part of it. I’m not sure how he fits in to the statement there.” Saki’s voice said dryly. But it didn’t really sound disembodied. It sounded more..real, like he simply had his eyes closed. And he could feel..something warm on the side her voice was coming from. Wait..was she ..lying next to him? Sluggishly..Haruto opened his eyes.
A darkened room. A little bit of light seeping in from under closed curtains, and a dozen tiny stars from the machinery scattered about the room in his immediate field of vision. And to his side, was long hair, bright eyes, and the seemingly flawless skin of Rukino Saki. He moved back in surprise, overbalancing on the narrow bed, and falling in a heap on the floor, now fully awake.
“Well that’s certainly one way to wake up. Get back into bed, it’s cold outside the covers” Saki said lightly, a smile gracing her features. She held the jumbled covers of the hospital bed open to Haruto, and his vision was immediately drawn to the fact that she was wearing very little under those covers.
“Ahhh, Saki, why are you naked!?” The boy gibbered before biting back a series of even further questions.
“Well I’m hardly going to let you ruin my underwear again am I? I liked those ones.” She said, fairly simply. “Now hurry up and get back into bed. Rather more comfortable than the ground I’d say.”
Haruto’s brain struggled with this new information. She thought he was going to feed on her again? After what happened last time? Already he could feel the curse rising, a fog that crept over his mind and a tightness in his chest.
“No! I can’t do that! Not to you, not again!” He exclaimed. Backing towards the door. "Saki, you have to get out of here!”
Saki’s expression tightened, her mouth forming a thin line and her eyes becoming more of a glare.
“Tokishima Haruto. There are two options here. The first is that you willingly feed on me. The second is that I force you into a frenzy where you feed on me anyway. Now choose an option” Saki said, a distinct tone of annoyance in her voice. Haruto, being Haruto, chose to be difficult, continuing with an assortment of “get out of here” and “I don’t want to hurt you”. So, Saki got out of the bed, and with a speed no one could predict, probably because it was so unexpected, ran up to Haruto, grabbed his head, and twisted. Hard. Back in Little Witch, Akira let out a soft gasp as Haruto sank to the floor like a puppet with it’s strings cut, before the familiar red markings appeared on his face and he let out a low growl.
Saki sighed. “I did say I would force you into a frenzy. And now we don’t even get to use the bed” she said, before Haruto’s body was lunging at her.
Akira watched with a mildly horrified expression. The tangle of limbs that was Haruto and Saki. Haruto was almost like a feral beast, whereas Saki..well Akira would have to check later when she had access to Little Witch’s systems rather than only her phone, but she could have sworn that Saki’s eyes were burning emerald, and similar marks were appearing over her neck and face. She stopped watching soon after, when it became obvious that whatever this was, it was a tad rougher than her personal preferences.
-
A while later, to the surprise of the technicians, each of the Valvraves switched from white to black, indicating that once again, they were operational.
