hey any music recommendations?
all of my own music. okay this is a disaster question to ask because I'm a big musichead and I listen to a lot of different music. I do listen to a lot of late romantic/early modern which I do really enjoy. I'll doa quick list of a few pieces and composers to check out to try keep it brief.
Mussorgsky/Ravel, Pictures from an Exhibition: Already a big fan of both composers here, this piece specifically however combines the rough late-romantic style of Mussorgsky with Ravel's phenomenal orchestration ability. The orchestra particularly is incredibly well arranged by Ravel and adds a huge amount of color to the original piano piece by Mussorgsky.
Samuel Barber; Adagio for Strings/Agnus dei, and Music for a Scene from Shelley: Both pieces by Barber are very nice. The Adagio for Strings/Agnus Dei is absolutely sublime and has an almost haunting effect and the Music for a Scene from Shelley is just generally quite nice.
Arvo Part, Tabula Rasa: I particularly love the first movement from this piece. I'm generally not the biggest fan of minimalism, or post-minimalism either but Part always strikes into an interesting boundary that I find particularly captivating with it.
Other composers that I enjoy and might be worth checking out are people like Prokofiev and Lili Boulanger who have a number of very nice pieces.
Guilty pleasure of mine is also Touhou music and Vocaloid at times so take of that what you will.
