FOR THOSE UNAWARE:#this musical is abt a spelling bee noelle is taking the place of olive who is the girl spelling the word#the entire song is partially in reality but mostly in a dream sequence where olive is hearing#words of encouragement from her parents (who are not there)#her father is supposedly a man busy w work and her mother ran off to india#and its basically just like olive having an emotional moment wishing her parents paid more attention bc she misses them esp her mom#SO. UH. VERY FEW THINGS NEED TO BE FLIPPED AROUND#for one i think noelle would focus more on her father but luckily papa is the same amount of syllables as mama#also would make the mantra 'how i wish you were home' hurt even more#even tho it probably also applies to her mom as well#but the reason i'd flip it is bc olive says 'i think dad is angry mom and i do not know what to do'#which. again. makes sense w the holidays if its flipped and mom is angry#also the line 'i think he takes out on me what he wants to take out on you' ALSO HURTS#(but i dont personally think it implies abuse bc it doesnt imply abuse in the musical. i think its more of anger or resentment)#anyways i think also since itd be a dream sequence having some dess thrown in there would Also Work#anyways. pain :-) ur welcome
