So, because I’ve been obsessed with Christian Borle, I finally decided to watch (a totally legal version of) falsettos.
It honestly was so much better than I was prepared for. The way it explores so many themes: queerness in the 70/80s, irregular family dynamics, fragile masculinity, Jewish culture, and the AIDS epidemic. It’s a show that’s just so full of love and soul and I couldn’t be happier that I watched it… but oh god nothing has made me cry like that in a good long while. like. I swear to you. It’s very hard for media to make me cry. But by the end of this show I was WEEPING.
I woke up my sleeping girlfriend just because I needed to tell her I love her and how happy I am I have her because oh my god. There’s no wake up call stronger than watching a loving couple be separated by forces out of their control. Reminding me that I can’t take my loved ones for granted. (P.s. girlfriend was very concerned cuz she woke up and I’m just sat, crying and saying I love you)
anyways, if you haven’t watched falsettos, go watch it, and if you have, watch it again.
