That is every other Royal that exists in the Nether and also at least some of the demons that challenged him for his Royal title lol.

Believe me, no one was or is more surprised then me XD;

So, the thing about where Rire's ichor manifests is that it kinda exists and doesn't exist at the same time. Meaning that his upper back is where the manifestation point is anchored, BUT it can still manifest with a bit of space in between it and his back hence why it will manifest over his clothes and not through them.

So if you touch where the manifestation point is sans the ichor, than you are just straight up touching his back. With the ichor, he still gets sensory input from the tentacles to his back but it's a lot more soft and muted esp the further away it gets from him. As you've seen implied though, he would feel a very sharp pain if a great deal of damage was done to the ichor where it clusters at the manifestation point, since he'd DEF be feeling that straight in his back lol.

He is definitely a top and the only way he would bottom for anybody is if they somehow forced him to.

Ah i knew i'd answered this a long time ago [finally found it]! Holy crosses (those that have been blessed) can also burn him but they would need to be in contact with him the entire time. Being a Royal he also has more of a tolerance to these than normal demons.

Well, unless said person actually has the undeniable ability to make good on their words, Rire would just stand there rather genially with that little smile he sometimes has and let them finish.

And then he might use them as reverse suggestions for dealing with said person (why would you give him any ideas!!?)

In BTD canon it is quite possible that they actually haven't in person. But we are using creative license here haha.

Rire heals a lot faster than a human. Cain is not my character so I don't know how his stacks up.

I've grouped these asks cos they kind of have similar answers - 360° (jk sorry sorry to the second q that is just a very common spelling mistake and I couldn't resist XD; )

Now, even though we mashed all the characs together in BTD, they all actually come from different storylines and so their canons outside the "BTD canon" may differ. This tends to bleed in. With this in mind:

The rules of Rire's canon (eg the concept of Battle Royales and how to become a Royal) don't apply to Cain. Anyway, they don't live in the same place either.

Cain is canonically the oldest and most OP character in BTD lol so yes he is stronger than Rire - you might've noticed, but Rire is never in the same drawing as Cain voluntarily. I play with this along with the "natural weakness" aspect - which I've also referred to as scissors-paper-rock rules XD Basically; demons beat humans, angels beat demons (purely because demons have weakness against holiness).

Whatever that one is where he doesn't particularly care what someone else identifies as. It really makes no difference to him or how he will act.

There are viruses in the Nether that if contracted could potentially kill you, yes. Part of being a Royal is becoming a lot more robust than normal Demons though. As for if/when Rire dies, I dunno maybe either in a Battle Royale somewhere thousands of years down the line or by old age (which is rare for a Royal but not impossible if you play your cards right).

"Okay what's wrong?" I ask, pausing Island right as a perfect frame of Cha Eunwoo pops on screen that it's almost difficult for me to take my eyes off of when I turn to address a very pouty Jungkook.

"Nothing" he grumbles and I sigh, tossing the remote on the coffee table and turning my body to face him. "If it was nothing you wouldn't be grunting and groaning and the other various array of sounds that you've no doubt been making just to get my attention"

"It's nothing alright" he denies again and I roll my eyes and grab the remote, giving up on talking it out when he's clearly not going to tell me unless I order him to.

"Suit yourself" I mumble and press play again, watching as Cha Eunwoo's character Johan gets out his sword while it illuminates his feature with a blue glow, leaving me biting down on my lip to stop the smile that's threatening to show.

I hear another scoff at that and notice that all of these reactions have been perfectly timed with when he's on the screen and so I chuckle.

"What's so funny?" he asks, no doubt frowning at me. "Oh nothing" I say, giving him the same answer he's given me and slouch back against the couch, amused with finding out the real truth.

"No what is it?" he asks again, acting completely hypocritical but I'll give in this time. "Your programming is showing" I tease and he scoffs again. "Yeah? And what of it?" he asks, crossing his arms over his chest leaving me smiling, the jealousy so apparent it’s laughable.

"It's just funny when that jealous side of you comes out to play" I say and he rolls his eyes, throwing the blanket off of him that we had been sharing, he doesn't need it for warmth or comfort but he knows that it makes me happy when we do it but it's always cute seeing these little signs of protest every once in a while.

"The amount of jealousy Ava added to your programing was perfect" I say while tossing the blanket to the side as well since I'm warm enough. "Well I'm glad you're having fun" he says under his breath leaving me turning to face him again and placing a hand on his cheek to bring his gaze back to me.

"He's just an actor in a drama Jungkook don't worry, it's not like I'm in love with him or anything" I reassure him but he's clearly not convinced. "Then why have you subjected me to watching it not once, not twice, but three times all the way through? Sounds like obsession to me" he argues, a slight pout on his lips very evident.

"I can watch this on my own you know. You don't have to watch it with me every time" I chuckle and he looks at me rather confused. "But you like it when we watch stuff together" he says, thinking he might've input that data incorrectly.

"I do but I don't want you to have to suffer through it" I say and he sighs and turns his face away from me. "It's just my programing. You can change it so you can watch in peace. You could even make it so I would tell you that you guys would be a perfect couple if you'd like" he says sarcastically.

I love the jealousy feature so much.

"No no that's okay, I don't mind watching it with you like this" I say and turn back to do so leaving him sighing and getting up to walk away. I pause the drama and I follow after the pouty baby, finding him way more enticing than the show right now.

"Where are you going?" I laugh when I see him flop down on the bed, watching the ceiling fan go round and round. "Figured I'd let you fangirl in peace" he says with a big sigh again. I chuckle and climb on top of him, straddling his lap with him immediately grabbing my hips to keep me steady.

"Come on don't be like that" I say, leaning down and kissing him to which he responds and I sigh into it, feeling even more attracted to him when he gets like this. It makes me feel wanted and that's something I won't ever take for granted.

"Like I said" he mumbles against my lips between kisses, "You can reprogram me" he finishes off and let's his hands wander up and down my torso but I sit back and look down at him again. "I like you just as you are" I say while running my fingers through his hair and he sighs.

"Good, because that's a feature that would take a long time to uninstall" he chuckles and I frown at him. "Some reprograming takes longer than others?" I ask, this being new information to me.

"Well it's a personality trait so those ones take a little bit longer to change compared to something like you begging me to fuck you harder" he teases and bucks his hips up into mine making me gasp a bit, the motion catching me off guard.

"Noted" I say after clearing my throat to break that tension he had tried to build. I try to get off his lap but he uses it as a change to put me on my back and hover over me.

"Speaking of fucking you harder you haven't touched me all day. Did you wanna play for a bit?" he asks, giving me a soft kiss and trailing his lips down my jaw and neck, sucking on that spot that gets me going.

"You still jealous?" I chuckle and he growls and bites down on me, "I don't want to talk about Father Johan when I'm trying to spend time with you" he growls and I giggle, leaving him scoffing and getting off of me, choosing to sit on the foot of the bed.

"Fine I won't talk about him anymore" I say, sitting up and taking up the space next to him. "You sure?" he asks and I nod but he rolls his eyes, clearly not believing me. "I won't talk about him anymore tonight. Promise" I say, holding up my pinky and he wraps his around mine and we press our thumbs together to seal it.

"Right after I finish up this episode" I say, slipping my hand out of his and trying to book it out of the room but he grabs me by my waist and throws me back down onto the bed, not letting me get away after that little stunt I pulled.

"No more" he growls again, hovering over me and giving me a glare that gives me a fluttering feeling in my stomach. "Okay fine no more" I say and run my finger along his jaw.

"You wanna take charge tonight?" I ask, the current mood he's been worked up into being a perfect transition for that and he smirks at me before giving me a reply that couldn't have been more perfect.

"It's cute that you think you had a choice tonight"

I truly think WoT is a well written, well acted show but you never see praise for it like that from most of the fandom (unless I'm following the wrong people). You see people praising GoT and HoTD like it's the best thing ever when I'm bored most of the time. Never anything similar said for WoT. I hope it does make it big in following seasons and gets more appreciation cause I truly think the show is underrated

i haven't seen GOT or HOTD so i can't speak to any comparisons there, but i agree that WOT is underrated! it feels like most of the viewership is either casuals who aren't Online About It and hardcore book fans who spend all their energy discussing book vs. show topics - not always in a negative way, i'm also including in here the show-positive discussions about improvements on the books or speculation for future seasons, but even these discussions are so rooted in book vs. show land that not a lot of people stop to discuss the show in a vacuum. it's often about "how is it similar to and different from the books?" and rarely about appreciating the show as its own standalone work.

which i think could be a difference with GOT and HOTD, they probably have a larger number of hardcore show-only fans who are Online About It discussing show-only things in detail such as writing and acting, whereas in my personal experience, WOT online fandom spaces are VERY dominated by book fans and they aren't talking as much about show-only things, or when they do, it's just to mistake "i personally don't like this change from the books" for "this is objectively bad writing and everybody who has ever watched the show agrees that the writing of the entire show is bad" lmao WOT reader fandom spaces have a reeeeaaaally skewed sense of the quality of the show's writing because they can't let go of their "similar to the books=good writing, different from the books=bad writing" baggage and also because they struggle to understand that good writing For TV is often very different from good writing For Books.

there's definitely also at play the societal tendency to praise miseryporn and characters who are terrible people as the creme de la creme of writing and acting. WOT has trauma and misery, but doesn't revel in it in a gratuitous way, and it has very flawed and complex characters, but the protagonists are all ultimately good people. it's a hopeful and uplifting story at its core and a story that wholeheartedly embraces its fantastical elements and wants to bring a sense of fun and escapism to viewers alongside the deep emotional stuff, and those are rarely taken as seriously as gritty cynical stories. hence, WOT is not viewed as a ~serious~ show worthy of having its acting & writing praised in the same way that GOT and HOTD are.

but WOT does do pretty good viewership numbers despite being kinda under the radar in the cultural consciousness, i think. i could see it gaining more attention in upcoming seasons as we enter the territory of the books that most people agree is the best portion of the series, and if they are finally able to do a proper promo cycle for s3 and beyond. from what i've seen, prime shows are never anywhere close to the level of promo netflix shows do (which is TOO much in some cases, rip to the poor bridgerton cast having to do about five thousand hours of interviews for s3), but WOT s1 came out during the covid zoom interview era and s2 came out during the strikes, so it's not hard to imagine that those 2 promo cycles might've been unusually low even for prime's standards and s3 might have a bit more. we shall see!

but at the end of the day, it's also kinda nice keeping wotshow as a hidden gem because greater online fandom attention would also mean an increase in insufferable takes haha i often find that smaller fandoms are a much more pleasant atmosphere than bigger ones!

I need to rant about Ivan guys guys I neeed to rant about Ivan (<--- keeps trying to write fics of him but Never finishes him) like God this man is so gay and so in love it genuinely hurts it Hurts and I am Injured by it and the imagrey is Sooo Good (and Yes this is probably me just parroting stuff Everyone has already said before but shut up it's my turn now!! (aka please I've been holding in these thoughts for Months now I must let them out of their cage before one of them Dies)) [Edit I am Not fucking proofreading this I spent 2 hours on it if there is a mistake you Imagined it </3]

Just like,

You can see it in the way he sees the stars in Till. His own hopes for freedom and the only real light in this world that he lost sight of in Till. He is the hope and wish for freedom that he has shut away and repressed and it makes him fall So Hard

Or how you only really see that red in his eyes (after. Almost Dying) when he's with or singing/thinking about how Till has Inspired him, like a fire has been lit inside him. A fire lit in the darkness. . hmm...

even at the end of the song, where he knows full well that he absolutely Crushed his opponent and also knows full well that Till is his next one. I'm sick. I'm so sick.

Or like. When he frees Till and everything is just Engulfed in that red now. How Till has that same fire in his eyes, he and Ivan are on the same page now. They see that same hope for freedom and they both share it. They're running towards the light (like the sky's lighter there, more on that in a sec), hell, the corners of the right side of the screen are literally tinted in LIGHT GREEN. Till's color. God dammit the whole scene is tinted in red and green. They are literally Complementary Colors. I'mmm soooooooo (God these scenes are soo pretty too I was genuinely Stunned when I first saw this)

DID YOU EVEN NOTICE I ONLY NOTICED NOW the Stars are fucking green. You can see it better in some of the Later Images but they are Literally Green because Ivan sees the stars in Till and uuuughsdfbshb

OR LIKE WHEN TILL TURNS BACK?? AND. And that red is no longer in his eyes and before The Realization hits Ivan his eyes are just Glowing with red. Because he was just Filled with that hope. Freedom was, potentially, Right There

Did you guys even notice in that like. 5 frames in the half-second animation of Till turning away he's totally engulfed in his shade of green. Like of Course. That's such a Till thing to do because of Course he's running back he never actually liked Ivan that way in the first place.

And also the lighting of the sky Flips. Because the light has always been with Till. And Ivan's left in the darkness. In the. Haha. Ha. Black Sorrow. Aha *sits down cries*

And Again with this mf's stupid eyes how they revert to just black because that hope's been stripped away again, how it's even reflected in his present self singing as he reminisces on it. Fucking. Ivan's Expression when Till runs away.T here's so fucking much like the irony. Like did he even see Till hesitate or did he just see him turn and run away.

Like the irony that the guy who's always breaking the rules and fighting and defying and clearly hating living in a world like this won't run away with him, who has always been passive and obeying the rules and just accepting captivity and has been repressing his desire for freedom is so Bitter and Awful but also he always Knew this would happen what the Hell was he thinking this was such a stupid idea like

Also this art brings me so much Joy as much as it hurts me on a visceral level like. Ivan Always has his eyes on Till but it goes from a fond smile. Like So Fond flat out lovestruck affectionate gaze because he loves this man and loves spending time with him to a grimace once they're on stage. How Till never really changes or really Has Changed, and that's why Ivan loves him as much as he is resentful towards him. How that's what brought them here, to the stage. How Ivan changed for Till and Because of Till but still Till is like a god damn immovable object with how he stubbornly sticks to his ways. There's such resentment but isn't he himself also stubborn for always sticking to Till anyways? Hell, he's singing all about him in Round 3 and loses control over his own emotions and expressions during it I'mmm Guhhh

Also the first image is titled Observation while the second one is titled Decision(? I think). Like mf What are you deciding. What happened Last Time you decided to do something I'm going to punt you into the next planet

Just. How Ivan's Always Observing. I saw one person point out he's like a background character and it's like he sees himself as one too. He is a passive observer in his Own Life. How he watches all the other children in Anakt garden play. How his childhood leading him to Anakt Garden just kind of. Happens around him while he watches indifferently.

How he's always trailing behind Till. Or how he tends to just. Observe quietly and is portrayed as such.

Not to mention how he doesn't appear in the memories of Anyone else's rounds, not even Till's, even when he literally (temporarily) freed him from the city. He doesn't even appear At All in Luka's round even though we get a clear shot of Till getting his hopes and dreams shattered (though it Does parallel another shot of him from Round 2)

And then the One Times he tries to take action. Or start something. It gets rejected and he's resigned to just. Trailing behind again. Because of Course he'll always follow after Till. And of Course he's fucking bitter about it and bitter about himself because he Knew this would happen and Till is Always looking at someone else and that Never Changes but. He just thought for a moment that he could change something. Man.

Oh I forgot to talk about the competitions themselves huh? Wellll, (and I'll Attempt to keep it brief because I've been writing this post for Much too long but)

Till spends his first round singing completely devotedly to Mizi. Hell, his song wasn't even in the program, it's likely- no, almost definitely something he wrote entirely for her, and Ivan has no part in it, just watches bitterly as he passes out after his, er, stunt at the end

And continues to be passed out for almost the entirety of Ivan's song

Oh but he woke up for the emotional/musical climax at least, going over Ivan's most important memory of them together, that's cool at least right?! Surely Till felt something from that

Maybe they can talk something out, or at least acknowledge their relationship in Some way. Maybe Ivan could at least be seen by Till-

Aaand Till's Actual love interest Supposedly gets shot and now he probably thinks she's dead. His attention is turned to her once again, like it's always been from the start. He never really changes huh?

Also he didn't sing or think about you at all during his round. In fact I'm pretty sure he wrote a whole ass song that wasn't even registered in the Alien Queue or whatever for someone else. Also he probably has hardly looked at you. Also he was unconscious for almost the entirety of your song. Except for the part where you lost control of your emotions.

Oh but that doesn't matter now because now he thinks the person He likes was just killed. So he's kiiinda gonna be distracted by that. And that might fuck up your round with him. Sorry man

This was Originally a rant about how much I love Black Sorrow's imagery and the portrayal of Ivan's love because this man clearly has Complex Emotions and then Kinda derailed into me just ranting about how many L's he's being handed before getting the executioner's blade. Uhhhhh oops. Congrats on sticking to the end though?

I just love Ivan very much. He is So Bitter and so Horribly In Love and looks up to and is inspired by Till So Much and I wish people explored him on a deeper level/more personally.

I wish I saw more deep looks at Ivan/Till, there's clearly Complicated Things going on there. Hell, we don't even know what Till's pov on the whole thing is aside from that One scene of him hesitating before running away from Ivan. As much as I love fluffy interpretations of them, I (did I mention that I'm an angst addict btw. Could You Tell) wish all their Complexities could be acknowledged. Like how Ivan Clearly puts Till on such a spotlight and it is Such a downfall for him through and through and he Kinda knows it but also What Else does he Have and he really looks up to him Sooo Much (just. Look at them in that official art of them in Anakt Garden !!!) and deep down just wants to run away from this horrible place and wants to run with Till, the Light of his life the fire in the darkness the fucking stars the universe his black sorrow just. Oh My God I need to end this post already I was supposed to be studying but spent those 2 hours Writing instead

But anyways yeah uuhhh long story short? This guy is a gay loser. should be sleeping but instead I'm thinking about how much Vash has been treated with love and care and kindness, even if he doesn't think he deserves or outright tries to deny it

it doesn't get shown as much later in the manga (but also everyone is busy and freaking out by that point so...), but early on we get to see glimpses of him having fun and getting fed treats (and sheltered and comforted) from casual, everyday sources. He carries the weight of every mistake, screw up, injury and death around his neck like a millstone, but very rarely does he ever knowingly allow anyone else to lighten his burdens—and when he does it's often under the guise of a mask.

But despite that all he is so incredibly cared for—kids willingly play with him to the point that they expect him to show up, strangers shelter him and cry when he leaves them, people willingly choose to risk life and limb and stand by him against his brother. Even his scars are testament of small acts of kindness imo—yeah they're proof of people hurting him (or just terrible, rotten luck), but he has a couple of really deep scars that might've taken him out if he didn't receive some form medical treatment; his body has incredibly enhanced healing but also he very clearly has limits to how well it works. Plus some of them have been very obviously patched up by a regular nml doctor working with what they have (I do not believe ship 3 would graft a metal grate over his chest because that just seems like a pain to work around with any sort of metallic equipment tbh), which means someone may have seen him get hurt and then willingly chose to help him afterwards, regardless of the circumstances.

So despite the cruelty he is forced to witness and experience all the time, he also gets to absorb so much love and little acts of kindness regardless of if he wants to acknowledge it or not.

🛸 HEADCANON LIST:

1. Octane would always make sure that you feel happy. Always trying to think of the best ideas when he's around you. He might not care about safety tho! So make sure that before going out on a date with him you will check if it won't kill you.

Once he actually wanted to go and do DIY bungee jumping off of one of the high bridges and you stopped him last second before disaster. He was actually convinced that his hand-made harness was safe enough to hold his wholy body weight.

He also forgot about what would happen after you both jump...Because...Who would pull you up back on the bridge?

2. First person to know about his feelings towards you was suprisingly not Lifeline (he trusted her but he was 100% sure that she'd try to convince him that it was not a good idea to date you since he could ruin your life with his personality and addictions) so he told that to...Wattson. She was so happy to help him ask you out but it was a big disaster.

3. He barely sleeps but when he's cuddling with you - he always gets sleepy really fast! Give him two minutes of back rubs and he's sleeping like a baby. He also prefers to be a big spoon, he uses you like a big pillow he can hug and that makes him feel warm. [He detaches his legs when he's laying on a couch, but sometimes he forgets about it and sleeps with them on, which leads to a cold metal touching your legs in the middle of the nights]

4. He lives in social media so your relationship would be shown to all of his fans. He'd also make sure that everyone knows that you're taken. Octane might not get jealous easily but he's also not a cheater, he is loyal and he wants you to be loyal as well.

5. Octavio is the best at making surprises. He'd give you lots of gifts no matter if there would be a special occasion or not, he'd love to give you small things like sweet treats, bottles of your favorite drinks, but sometimes he'd just come to you and give you a really expensive figurine of your favorite characters and he'd be like "whoops! I might've spent some money on it...But at least youre happy, right, chica?".

Octavio was known for always being in a rush, running around, stimming, he couldn't sit in one place for long. You were unique, quiet, and you had all the earmarks of being the specific inverse of him. Your first meeting might not have been perfect, well, it was, in fact, a mess because Octane, for the first time in his life, was speechless. Couldn't keep his eyes off of you, not uttering a word, simply seeming to be a weirdo. Ajay had to physically move him away because he started to get overly energetic, playing with his fingers, not being sure what to do. He was just stunned, and you were too embarrassed to even think about it.

Time passed, and with that you and Octane grew closer and closer. When he discovered the fact that you enjoy the same games and activities as him - he almost proposed to you on the spot, but back then you weren't even together yet. The only thing you shared were slight, delicate touches, soft glances and quality time. Hours you spent in his room, having fun, feeling happier than ever. And he felt like for the first time in his whole life - someone understood him. Oh, how could he not love you?

So, with the help from Wattson he was finally able to confess. It was a mess, as I mentioned before, because nothing went as planned, but that only made his heart race faster, and we all know that he loved that. His cheeks were flushed, he was not sure what his body was doing, but when you walked out of your room, all pretty and in best clothes you could find, all the plans, all the things he wanted to say to you were gone. You took over his mind so easily, it was almost scary. If only you knew how much power you had… He'd do anything you asked him to, and more.

When your friends brought you over to the Hideout to help set the stage before the show, you didn't plan on tripping over the thick cables connected to the amplifier and spilling your drink over the amp, not at all. And if you think about it, nobody ever trips on purpose- but Dustin was adamant about how Eddie, the guitarist whom they'd been trying to introduce you to for weeks, would definitely hate you forever for being so careless as you sat there, half-empty cup in your hands as your sad gaze met the heavy-looking equipment which wasn't buzzing with static the way it did before the incident. Steve stood over you, arms on either side of his torso with his mom mode turned on to a full, as Robin made her way towards the edge of the small stage to take a seat next to you.

"I'm pretty sure we can buy him a new one somewhere," she spoke, her voice barely over a whisper as you heaved a sigh. Dustin spoke before you could find a chance to, shaking his head feverishly. "Find something like that and come back before the show starts? Yeah, good luck! I accidentally tugged a bit hard on the tremolo of his guitar once and I swear, he tried to murder-"

"Jesus, just calm down, okay?" Steve finally intervened, his hand coming up to rest on Dustin's hair -disregarding his groans of protest which finally brought a half-smile on your lips- as he shrugged. Eddie might've been a terrible over-reacter at times, specifically if it was about things we had passion for, but surely, he wouldn't be that bad. "He'll be here in a few with the others. Yeah, he might hate you for it, but I'm sure he knows how to fix it or somethi- Oh, great."

"Why is my amp wet?"

Well, there goes Robin's master plan.

You turned around a bit at where you were seated, before jumping to your feet, palms clammy with anxiety as you watched the bundle of curls move side to side with each of his attempts at getting the amp to turn on. A bandana adorned the wild mess of his hair, big shiny eyes getting smaller with a rather adorable frown. When you finally managed to lift your gaze from the chains dangling from his jeans -strategically placed on the left side of his hips so that they wouldn’t scratch his guitar, you guessed-, a shaky breath escaped your lips. Although you were sure you could explain yourself, all of that courage slowly vanished when Dustin and Robin started tugging each other away from the future crime scene, a supportive smile on their lips. You returned your gaze to the boy before looking over at Steve, who only offered you a knowing look before walking over to the amp. "It's not that bad, right, Eddie?"

It was good to finally put a face to the name -which Dustin religiously talked about- but not like this. Not when you haven't even officially met him, and you were pretty sure he was going to hate your guts. "Just an accident!" you managed to blurt out in a meek manner, just as he started to speak while in the process of turning around. "Accident, really? It's Dustin, isn't it? I swear, if I get my hands on that little shrimp-"

He almost froze when he noticed you, right in front of him, realizing you were the one who spoke. Head tilting to the side slightly, as if he was studying you, knitting his brows as he raised one hand to get a hold of yours, to shake it. "Eddie Munson. May I ask who's the culprit, exactly?" he pointed out towards the amp, giving you enough time to take a deep breath before introducing yourself shortly, and getting quieter by the second. "It's me. I didn't mean to, though! I just tripped and- I'm very sorry, I'll pay for it."

Eddie met your eyes again, ignoring the way Steve's gaze was on both of you and the alarms blaring in his head were way too obvious to read, as he simply stared at you. His expression was far too unreadable, and you started to get uncomfortable- or scared, even, before his stoic scowl shaded off to a lopsided grin. "Did those dipshits scare you away from me, sweetheart?" he spoke, tone way softer than you thought it'd be like, as your eyes searched for Dustin and Robin in disbelief. "Jeff has a smaller spare in his car, I'll just ask him to fetch that. You'll pay if I can't fix it though." he trailed off, before offering you a wink and walking over to unplug the amp, leaving you speechless as you mindlessly followed him.

"So, you're not mad? Like, not at all?" you asked nervously, toying with the rings on your fingers. He just scoffed, rather playfully, before dangling the cord in his hand towards your direction. "If you didn’t seem as mortified as you are right now, I’d be. Lucky for you, I've been wanting to meet you for a while, so I’ll let this one pass." relaxing visibly upon his words, you nodded and brought your hands together on your back, shifting your weight between your two feet. "Well, thanks- I'll just join the rest, then." a smile tugged the ends of your lips upwards as you took a step backwards. "Good luck, Eddie."

"I hope you like the show, sweetheart."

As you dragged your feet towards the bar where your friends were waiting, you noticed Nancy grin towards you while she set her purse down on the bar. "You finally met Eddie, huh?" nodding slightly with your eyes following the curly metalhead, you took a deep breath and smiled, unknowing to the fact that you'd come here far too often from that point onwards to cheer for him after his shows, often with your fingers intertwined on your way to his van together afterward.

Geeta and Paldea Discussion

Really random thought, but as a sort of counter to Geeta being a bad top champion/chairwoman, I feel like it's important to point out that Paldea is quite the paradise. Each town is filled with life and activity, and presumably the gyms and the Academy's treasure hunt program is what made it the way it is economically. I don't think it'd be impossible to say that Paldea was not like this when she first took over, and it's years of her hard work to change things.

It's said the gym leaders were all handpicked by Geeta, and I think any of these cities success would be attributed to her hard work into changing Paldea for the better.

If we need more tangible indicators, I feel like the Elite 4 battleground being the most sparse battle area speaks volumes as to where her and thus the league's priorities lie. It's about the rest of Paldea's development and improvement, they get the most funding for building up the space into something fun and enriching. At the ace tournament, Geeta also reveals that she had a hand in designing the Academy library renovations, so she very much invests into bettering Paldea/The Academy as a whole.

I do enjoy the headcanon of her actually being a great champion/leader, pushing her coworkers. The quips/hatred towards her feels like fan interpretations being overstretched, not to say she is beloved, but I think the league and it's gym leaders of this region work together better than other gens. And I adore the thought that they have a decent camraderie...

Afaik Geeta runs a tight ship, doing inspections, making the rounds, talking to locals, to students... She's probably a workaholic herself, stretching thinly across the region haha.

Also, another point to her: Assuming she was the leader when the other Academy Director was in power, she likely helped oversee the complete reshuffling/changing of staff... getting someone as dedicated as Clavell, pulling gym leaders she trusts (Tyme) etc to the Academy. She can't micromanage and solve every problem, but i do feel she'd be warmly pleased at hearing the Director's "greatest treasure" resonating with her own... and also the dedication he has to act as Clive LOL. Clavell also helps out with Iono's stream to repay the League once, so I assume it to be true that Geeta has done much to improve the Academy.

There's also things like: Hassel, the guy being harassed by his family. I am sure Geeta would know about it, and the fact that Hassel is both E4 + art teacher feels very much like "Don't touch him, he's Paldea's". Power moveeee. Adore the headcanon of Geeta being very defensive of keeping him as Paldea's, any move from the dragon tamers has political ramifications...

Grusha... iirc has some beef? Idk. Nothing jumps out to me in memory beyond fan interpretations. I like seeing his role as gym leader actually being something of a Geeta pushing him into something after a devastating career blow.

I've already discussed Larry before in another post (His gym being his favourite restaurant is already quite telling that all the gym leaders get plenty of support for their work lol). Tulip's jealousy over her? Just feels in character for her personality but I don't think she means it too much lol.

The only thing that's probably a big glaring mistake is allowing professor Turo/Sada to continue experiments, presumably without supervision. It might've been possible that oversight occured.. or the professor was able to shirk off suspicion so long as they spared the crystals for making tera orbs. Kinda like an operation where they go "You only need me down here to help you harvest the crystals.", the time machine secretly being the focus. The academy/league funded labs were abandoned, one can assume they'd taken their hands off maintaining it, the only valuable thing left is extracting the crystals for Tera orbs. Combined with the concept of Geeta focusing on the rest of Paldea after the Tera Orb discovery (I like to think she was appointed just shortly after it or very early during it), one professor being down in the crater managing Crystal extraction doesn't seem like a huge priority...

Anyway, those are my rambly all over the place thoughts for Geeta and her role in Paldea lol. Top champion isn't just being the strongest, it's very much a leadership role with influence on people's livelihoods. She's doing a fine job of it, if Paldea is so damn idyllic. I doubt the game will give us these answers or depth, but fjdhsjs Geeta is probably kinder/more empathetic/caring than most fans make her out to be.

I would say if you're gonna write here maybe post some One Shots first.

One Shots are really good to kind of play around with your writing style as well as gaining an audience. If someone likes your One Shot then chances are they're going to follow you so they'll be able to read your future uploads.

Another thing you could do as well is put out a teaser for your stories! Just something small that doesn't give too much away but entices people to want to read more.

And that's where taglists come into play! When people find your stories you'll eventually start getting people who will ask if you have a taglist and if they can join it.

Basically they're just wanting to be tagged in future uploads. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the concept yet but I figured I would explain it anyway haha

Another thing is not only letting people ask to be added to the taglist in the comments but also creating a taglist form! You can do it on the Google Forms app/website and they're super easy to set up!

Also I'm not sure if any writers here do this but I actually store/write my stories on my Wattpad account in the drafts. I don't post on Wattpad since I haven't really been able to build an audience there but I feel it's the best way for me to keep all of my stories compartmentalized and in their own little books.

Also I made the mistake of writing too many stories at the same time so I would suggest if you're going to start something like a series then make sure to start with one or two maybe three if you feel you like you can juggle them.

I have eight ongoing series and it's kind of difficult to keep up with them but if you have another idea for a series then write it but hold off on posting it until some of your other series are over or almost over.

I'm not sure if you're planning on writing series but yeah that's just a thing that I've been struggling with lately😅

Another thing is write ahead of time! This mainly applies to series but if you write a couple of chapters before posting then you can stretch out your uploads without having to worry about rushing to finish them up so you can post the next part.

I don't do this per say but I try to write for multiple stories at the same time so I don't start and finish one and then have nothing to work with for the next story.

Just saw your MDZS thing and I half agree and half not. Like, on the one hand, I think it's absolutely justified (though I don't generally support any torture, but this is fiction and...it's Wen Chao...), but on the other hand, it's not supposed to be black and white??? MXTX clearly wanted her readers to understand the cruelty of this moment. Wei Wuxian was so traumatized he became kind of twisted, at least with the people who massacred the Jiangs. But even though we all know WWX is NOT the evil overlord that the cultivation world thinks him to be, he is not meant to be seen as someone who can do no wrong. He makes mistakes! Some of the fault does, in fact, lie with him! He's not 100% sunshine boy! And THAT'S OKAY. In fact, him being complex is WHY he's such a good character! And it boggles my mind how people will go to any lengths to make him perfectly innocent and pure in everything (rather than being traumatized and human) while also vilifying Jiang Cheng and Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang and whoever else. Like, the latter two obviously did really bad things, worse than WWX, but they are very obvious mirrors to WWX. Xue Yang grew up an orphan on the streets. If WWX hadn't been rescued by Jiang Fengmian, he might've turned out the same way. Jin Guangyao was consistently denigrated for being the son of a prostitute. WWX also faced classism (to a lesser extent) for being the son of a servant (which Yu Ziyuan and Jin Zixun used against him). And don't even get me started on JC. People will go to any extent to vilify him when all of his actions make sense as someone who is also human and flawed and traumatized. Does this absolve any of them of their actions? No. But it does explain them. And just because someone does make mistakes doesn't mean they deserve to be hated and condemned (unless they're Wen Chao, who didn't make mistakes but who instead had an entire personality dedicated to being horrible. Pretty sure he's the only one who MXTX wanted to be a straight up bad guy, though if you can give me evidence to the contrary, feel free). Readers thinking in black and white and condemning other characters for xyz actions without trying to understand them while holding up WWX as a shining beacon who can do no wrong miss the entire point of the novel and do disrespect to WWX himself. Anyway... There's my rant over. Feel free to ignore this if you want, haha.

I’m not completely sure what you mean in regards to “half agreeing and half not” tbh. It seems to me like your disagreement lies with vilifying other characters when the main character is a morally complex character, which was my point? The morality policing was specifically what I was criticizing in my original post? Because, like, I agree with the broad strokes about Wei Wuxian and other characters’ moral complexities and grayness. 

My point was that, even if justified or understandable, the torture of Wen Chao was horrific and brutal, and I don’t completely understand how anyone who DID read the novel (which I understand not everyone has and/or has a different interpretation) is willing to harass actual, flesh-and-blood people over liking a character when the main character has literally tortured someone. That’s it.

I actually made my original post after a bunch of Jiang Cheng antis (who I do actually like talking to and seeing their opinions when they’re not harassing others) found an Aroace-spec Character Tournament poll with Jiang Cheng and were incredibly condescending about it. Which is honestly better than the death threats and threats of violence and doxxing, but it did hurt more than it probably should have to have people so unwilling to even TRY and see why I, and others, connected to Jiang Cheng, even after reading the same book that made them hate him. 

Seeing a character say, “Hey, what you did was not okay. I know why you did it, but it doesn’t change the damage you caused. I do not forgive you." to the main character was something that I needed to hear and see. It was something real, even if it might not be justifiable or “correct.” I like Jiang Cheng not because I think he’s always in the right or a perfect person, but because he’s not. And it’s fine if people don’t like him or think he’s the scum of the Earth or whatever, but I also think that prioritizing the debate about a character that doesn’t exist over actual people is cruel and unjustifiable. Ultimately, I do not care about any fictional character as much as I care about how willing people are to be so unbelievably inhumane for just disagreeing with them. 

And, somehow, this also ties into my opinions about the torture and killing of Wen Chao. I don’t think Wei Wuxian was unjustified, per se, for punishing Wen Chao, but I do think it was wrong in the sense that the action itself is wrong. It’s not a “WHOOO! WE KILLED THE BAD GUY” moment to me but a moment showing the brutality of war and a literary mark of descent to the “single plank bridge.” As someone else said (and so many more have probably said), it was fucked up, and acknowledging it was fucked up doesn’t mean Wei Wuxian is a “bad person” or a character you CAN’T like (paraphasing). It just means acknowledging that the act of torture itself is fucked up, no matter who does it or who it’s done to. Comparatively, sending death threats and threats of violence and doxxing is also fucked up, no matter who the other person is and what they’ve said. Putting a fictional story and character - no matter how much they may mean to you - over actual people for often no reason is fucked up. 

But yeah, I think “just because someone does make mistakes doesn’t mean they deserve to be hated and condemned” is one of my favorite aspects in a lot of web novels. I like that characters have “bad aspects” that while I may not condone IRL, including them make the characters… characters. That the “person” (character) is more important than whatever “bad aspect” they may have or mistake they might have made.

Anyway, I hope this clears up what I was trying to say lol. Not everything I wrote was meant specifically because I think you don’t agree or to argue with you, but to get my opinion across properly. I feel like we’re broadly saying the same thing, even if I’m not sure if I agree or disagree with the finer points like “Wei Wuxian might have become like Xue Yang.” Sorry if any of this comes off as aggressive, btw; it's not meant to be, but I lose my fight with tone everyday.

☠🌏– Although her expression was the same as always, she couldn't help the light trembling in her legs as she waited for the elevator to take her back up to the roof, sandwich in hand. Her heart was racing like a Zebstrika and there was a terrible ball of anxiety tying her stomach in a knot. But she just had to try this. She couldn't risk this creature breaking anything on the roof... and as long as she has her team close by, it should be fine.

At last, after a lot of foot-tapping, anxious gulping and collar-pulling, the doors open.

How long has it been? The sun's already peeking from the horizon... and the creature's still there, standing in the same spot as before. As soon as she's in its line of sight, it turns around to face her again.

She's sweating up a bucket, and her legs start to tremble even more. She's tempted to drop the sandwich and make a run for it, but... she notices the beast moving its head, looking at the hand holding the food for a moment before...

Sitting down?

The posture is calm. The eyes relaxed, claws sheathed, tail curled around its hind leg. Did that mean... it was safe to approach?

Rika gulps again, and begins walking towards it, moving cautiously. She holds the sandwich on both hands, holding it out to it like an offering, and once she's close enough, she leaves it on the floor, a meter or so away from it.

Their eyes meet. And although Rika freezes at first...

Is this... telepathy? Wait... a Psychic type?

''A... Ah?''

My name is Solgaleo. Yes, I can speak into your mind, human. Are you offering me food?

To Rika's surprise, the voice sounds... deep, but feminine. Kinda like hers. But then... did that mean...?

You seem scared. Be not afraid. I don't intend to hurt you.

''Sorry, I... I'm kinda bad with big Pokémon, y'see... h- haha.''

While Rika speaks, Solgaleo slowly lays down, closing the proximity between them in a non-hostile way before chomping down on the sandwich. Although this made her recoil a bit, it was clear from Solgaleo's body language that she didn't intend to hurt her.

''...A- Anyway. If I may ask, what're you doin' here? This place's off limits usually, you know?''

...I've been waiting for a man that I met in this region many years ago. Something told me he'd come here today to bring me something, but... the break of dawn has arrived and he hasn't appeared. Unless... No. You couldn't be that man, could you?

Oh. Oh this is new. A Pokémon mistaking her for a guy...

''Me? I'm no guy, but I get told that often. Name's Rika, by the way. And I don't know how long ago that might've happened, but I think I'm pretty young for that. 'sides, believe me, if I ever saw you I'd remember.''

The lioness was surprised, but she smiled.

Is that so...? Hm. It appears we're more alike than I realized. You see, I'm a guardian of the Sun... And for that reason, human mistake me for a male, too.

''Oh, really? Nahahaha! That's crazy! We really have stuff in common, huh!''

For some reason Rika couldn't really piece together... as she kept talking with this Pokémon, she couldn't help but feel more relaxed. It truly helped that she could hold a conversation with her in the first place... Suddenly, she wasn't so scared and tense anymore.
