and even then, that won't help if you're institutionalized as a minor.
You wanna actually help institutionalized mentally ill people? Get them legal help. Post their rights on the walls. Give them access to phones and lawyers. “My small business sells cutsie scrubs for inpatients!!!” literally nobody cares what they are wearing in the fucking hospital but you Becca. shut the fuck up
#my rights (which WERE helpfully posted on the walls) were violated many times#in various loopholey ways that were transparently about keeping them out of trouble#for example they'dfind clever ways to not let you eat while having some paper thin excuse of you're not “safe” to be in whatever eating are#(generalized language cause I've been to ten of these places(#same for not letting you use the bathroom#though one time they went full mask off and said “you talk back so i don't want to open the bathroom for you”#every time I'd complain to the shift leads (who were often the ones doing it)#to my therapist and parents (who suddenly became a fountain of excuses for them)#to those little complaint forms (four years and i never once got answered.)#there was literally Nothing i could do#or if there was my FOURTEEN YEAR OLD SELF was not properly informed of it#this isn't even getting into all the times i got physically assaulted by other patients and basically morning was done#i got beat up 7 times in 14 days at one ward#guess what they did when they noticed the very obvious pattern of me getting targeted by violence?#NOTHING#they literally even had a 2nd ward for my age group THAT I HAD BEEN IN PREVIOUSLY but nooooooo they couldn't move me!#that's too much WORK#meanwhile i went to sleep with hair pulled out of my scalp and bruises forming on the back of my neck#and don't even get me STARTED on how many medications they put me on and didn't tell me the side effects EVEN WHEN I ASKED#i took antipsycotics for multiple YEARS not knowing they were the cause of my sudden & unexpected weight gain#and involuntary movements and general body fuckery#and they made me take it in the MORNING and then i got in trouble if i was sleeping during the day#EVEN THOUGH IT CAUSES DROWSINESS AND I WAS TAKING A QUITE HIGH DOSE?? PSA That I Shouldn't Have To Make: If Person A goes public with how they've been abused long-term by an outside party, and your friend Person B has lied so viciously about them that they have people claiming Person A is an abuser in the comments on the post detailing how they suffered, you should care.
I'm Person A, by the way. A friend gave me some very disappointing information about an exchange they had with an acquaintance of mine, someone I believed was just unaware of the situation. It's not like I bring it up with people I'm not reasonably close to, so I assumed they just didn't know.
See, I like to think that most of the time, when someone associates closely with someone like Person B, it's because they just don't know. If they knew, I reason to myself, they would care, and they wouldn't associate with them.
I keep getting proven wrong.
No lie, it hurts pretty badly. Almost as much as seeing someone call me an abusive liar in the comments of a QRT/reblog from when I finally pulled the sheet off and laid bare the abuse I'd been going through with my ex. (Not quite that bad, but honestly it's pretty close.)
Most people are good. I have to keep believing that. There are just a lot more people than I want to think about who believe that "neutrality" in a situation like this somehow isn't just siding with the abuser.
But the thing is, "neutrality" in abuse situations where you are not ignorant of what happened is always on the side of the abuser. Always. Even if you don't know them, even if you don't like them. If you don't think it matters when someone you do know and do like calls another person an abuser in the same conversation where that person came out as a victim of abuse, you're not just siding with your friend—you're siding with the abuser.
It's been months and this still haunts me. It still makes me sick. I think about it every fucking day and I probably will for a very long time. Because for some indiscernible reason, some fandom bullshit that I was only remotely involved in because someone jumped to the wrong conclusions was deserving not only declaring me abusive, but of doing so in public, on a post about the real abuse that I had been experiencing with increasingly intensity for over a year.
It took me most of that year to even admit to myself that I was being abused at all, and months after that to tell anyone aside from literally a half-dozen people. When I went public with it, my hands were shaking, my eyes wouldn't focus, I could barely breathe. My heart was pounding so hard I couldn't hear anything else. I was so scared I thought I might have a heart attack.
But yeah, sure, this thing I didn't do to someone I was never friends with was the appropriate response to all that.
This is like standing in the hall outside a hospital room after someone finally went to get medical attention after hours of constant physical assault, very loudly talking to a friend of the victim, and saying "Yeah I don't talk to the patient, she beat up a friend of mine. I don't know why she's in the hospital, and I'm not going to check, but I'm really sorry that you know her."
And then after the fact, a different friend of the victim sees someone they know interacting with the person who started the claim that the victim was abusive in the first place. This friend tells that other person what happened, and that person responds only with "That's none of my business."
Yes it is. The company you keep speaks volumes about your own character, and when you say "that's none of my business" you're saying so much more.
You are saying "I don't care that my friend lied about an abuse victim, I don't know them so it doesn't matter to me that my friend's lies led to the victim being accused of abuse when they finally got out."
You are saying "I would prefer to be friends with someone who lies to accuse abuse victims of lying and abusing others—someone who seems to have encouraged their friends to re-traumatize a victim of abuse with these accusations—rather than think for one second that someone I like might not be a very good person."
You are saying "Abuse is fine as long as it doesn't happen to people I like, and it's okay to lie about it if you really don't like the person who was actually abused."
It is absolutely your fucking business, and by saying it's not, you've declared yourself in favor of the abuser.
#abuse tw#long post#depression diaries#i guess#and here I am#still not naming names#because I'm too tired to fight anymore#nobody cares#nobody ever has#i deserved it#and i'll keep deserving it#because someone decided i was the bad guy#when i was barely even there#when i got attacked by their friend#when they stole my work#when they admitted to what they did#and were given a pass#because they promised not to do it again#so it doesn't matter#i'm not popular enough#to not deserve to be abused

Sal Headcanons
Anonymous: Can you do headcanons for Sal from WATGBS on how he meets his Darling and how he'd take care of them if the sea of death took over?
~
AN: I both love and hate this piece of trash. I obviously don't condone the things he's done, but I gotta admit that he makes a damn good villain. I didn't expect that plot twist nor the evil that was hiding under that cute face.
WARNING: The following contains dark and triggering themes of emotional abuse, violence, stalking and/or NSFW noncon. Read at your own risk!
Yandere Type: Sadistic, Obsessive, Controlling
• When you first meet, Sal is still under the guise that he's just a sweet shark working for Princess Uomi. One night, Tatsumiya throws a celebratory dinner for all the castle staff and a friend brings you along. When you introduce yourself to Sal, he's caught off guard by how cute and friendly you are. You're just so... innocent. He wants to see more of you. Time flies and you exchange laughs and stories for the rest of the night. A new friendship is born. He pretends to be more drunk than he really is as an excuse to have to take care of him. You can't help but laugh at his silly antics and baby him. As the night continues, he grows more and more captivated by you. It's decided. When Sal brings the Sea Kingdom to its knees, you will be his victory prize.
•You frequent the castle to visit your friends who work there. On your visits, you'd often come across Sal while wandering the many hallways. Actually... You seem to bump into him a lot lately. You could anywhere in the town and you'd always manage to cross paths. Sal's red eyes light up when he pretends to notice you, as if he hasn't been stalking you the whole time. Sometimes he just waves at you and carries on, other times he will approach and strike up a friendly conversation. Sure you lived nearby, but was it really just a coincidence? Obviously not. When he isn't busy planning the apocalypse, he spends his free time stalking you.
"Oh! Hello there Y/N! Fancy meeting you here! How are you? ♪"
• Sal has a reputation for being kind. If you ever got lost in the massive castle or needed help with any errands, he'd happily join you and do his best to assist any way he could. Its so convenient that whenever you are struggling with anything he's always miraculously nearby to help out. He loves the idea of you needing him. He can't wait until he's the only one you can rely on. He might be a bit ditzy and clumsy at times but he has the best intentions. Little do you know that its all fake.
• Rumor has it that he has a bit of a crush on you. And while that's very sweet, you couldn't see yourself ever being with a shark familiar. But he never brings it up, so neither do you. He's still as kind and cheerful as ever, so maybe it was just a rumor after all? Its true mind you, he absolutely adores you. And he's actually the one who started the rumor. It's harder to be suspicious of someone if you know they have feelings for you.
• One day, Sal comes to you in private and asks for a shoulder to cry on. He comes across as the pitiful, lonely creature who only wants to make friends. And he asks for your input because you have many compared to him and he admires you oh so much. He even cries a bit while you comfort him. Its a very convincing act. Sal does this to lower your guard, making you trust him more. Manipulating others is one of his best skills. He enjoys toying with emotions against to get what he wants.
"Oh Y/n, you're just so cool and kind and beautiful a-and amazing!... I wish I could be more like you."
• Meticulously and cunning, Sal is always planning his next attack. He's smarter than he looks, and that coupled with how sadistic he can be, makes him a very dangerous predator. He will play nice for now. It won't be long until all his plans come to fruition. He knows that he has to be patient. He just has remind himself that the rewards outweigh the temptations. You'll be together soon enough.
• As the events leading up to the Sea of Death takeover begin to trickle in, he grows more and more impatient. He can't wait to claim you as his and corrupt you into joining the cause. He has a few things already set up to ensure your compliance. While you're busy panicking from the invasion, he goes behind the scenes to kidnap your closest friends and a few family members. That way he has leverage to get you to obey him and give into his love. You won't be as keen on fighting his affections when their lives are at stake.
• As the hellscape begins to consume the kingdom, the banished creatures and souls of the damned crawl their way from the depths of the unsealed portal. The begin their assault on the kingdom, speading fear and chaos wherever they go. An army of disturbing creatures corner you and before you can do anything, Sal quickly rushes to your side. But instead of defending you, he just smiles and laughs at your terrified expression. He shape shifts, revealing his true form. He pulls you into his arms and hugs you tightly as he begins to explain that this was all his doing.
• Being the mastermind behind the Sea of Death being unsealed, he now had a high ranking status in this new Kingdom. He is bestowed power and authority by the new Princess. After all, it was Sal who made it all possible. Mikostu gives him an entire floor of the castle to live in, where he houses you against your will. Servants will cater to your every whim. And although their mutant forms are unsettling, you eventually become more accustomed to the countless eyes and teeth these new inhabitants bare.
•Its not so bad, although you are very much a prisoner, you are still spoiled and living in the lap of luxury. Sal knows that it would be much easier to just corrupt your soul, but decideds to keep your mind in tract. Its much more fun to slowly drive you to the brink of insanity anyways. He still acts sweet and bubbly, but only towards you. Its very clear with his distaste for anyone else.
• Now that Sal has you right where he wants you, he makes his feelings very clear. You are kept within arms reach at all times, hardly ever being left alone. Wherever he goes, you go. You may as well be glued to his hip honestly. He will gush and praise you whenever he has the chance. But he is only this soft to you. Its a bit odd to see him flip personalities like that. He can go from sweet and cuddly to merciless and vile in an instant.
• Sal isn't afraid to show his dark side in front of you either. He will have random citizens brought to his private quarters where he brutally kills them, all within earshot of your own room. Screams and blood fill the halls when he unleashes his pent up aggressions. You've slowly learned that if you give into his affections that he's less likely to need this kind of release... So for that sake of others, you endure his twisted love.
• Sal has no issue brutally killing or maiming others directly in front of you. Acting violent in front of you come with an added bonus; If you witness his brutality and strength first hand, if might make you more grateful that he doesn't direct it towards you. Hopefully you will be more appreciative of how good he treats you in comparison. But in case you forget your place, he still has one more trick up his sleeve.
• Remember your friends and family he kidnapped earlier? They're in the prison under Sea God Castle. You don't know how many Sal kidnapped but you don't want to find out. The only time Sal reveals anyone to you is right before he kills them while you're forced to watch. He only ever does so as a severe punishment, like when you tried to run away or physically fought back his advances. Its horrible, watching your loved ones suffer and die right before your eyes. But its all for the sake of love according to Sal. Eventually, you'll just obey him without the fear of punishment, he'd expain. It sure as hell makes a convincing argument because you never want to do anything to earn that kind of discipline.
"If you just behave, I wouldn't have to resort to doing this Darling. All I want is your love!"
• But honestly, he doesn't treat you too badly. And he's more than willing to get you anything your heart desires. Just say the word and it shall be yours. But of course, nothing is free. Sal expects you to pay him back, weither it be in the form of kisses or more intimate acts. The bigger the request, the bigger the return will be. It could be something as simple as requesting a meal for dinner or asking to go for a walk outside (where he will escort you, of course). When he's getting more handsy, you know he wants his payment. Be sure not to make him wait too long, otherwise he might just take it.
