I think one of the reasons AK’s story and characters keep me around is how many of the characters are just like, Normal People

Sussurro was not granted a magic catalyst by the gods to enable her healing, Grani isn’t the materialized form of some ancient protector hero, they are a near burn out med school grad and an optimistic if out of her depth former peace officer.

Regular people in extraordinary situations who are doing their best

All that isn’t to say that Rhodes doesn’t have its own slew of powerhouses, legendary warriors, genetic super soldiers, gods walking the earth and once in a generation savants etc but, many of the 3-5 stars aren’t particularly special in any way and are standing shoulder to shoulder with those titans anyway. It adds a bit of humanity to the story that I really enjoy
