“Yes.” Because that’s the mature response here. The tried-and-true method of getting someone to be cooperative: clapping back in the most dismissive way possible when they tried to call you out on your behavior. Itsuki dubs him a “butt” just then, though, so Percy decides pretty fast that neither of them are winning any awards in the “handling this like adults” category. (But, like . . . they weren’t adults, so—? Need he say more? No, but he probably would anyway.)

Nevertheless, his stride stalls just slightly when her complaints chase him, and he sighs like she’s the one being problematic here. “Look, I understand being confused about all this, but it’s just that I really don’t have the time to explain in essay-length detail,” Percy says (and most of his teachers would vouch for how horrible his essays were, so . . . Really, he’s sparing her). “I am trying to help, though— Could you just try trusting me for now? Promise it’ll all make sense later.”

ANY FURTHER UTTERANCES FROM HER WOULD CEASE, as all she would do then was gape back at him. Her lips clamping shut with a quiet swallow, the moment he had waved his hand in her very direction.

But soon after, her wide eyes would narrow themselves into a flustered scowl. The moment she realised that she had been DUPED! SMECKLEDORFED, even! Simply watching in disbelief next, as he waddled himself around her like she had caught something! Ooohhh, it would take EVERYTHING in her not to at least swat at his shoulder in absolute indignation and frustration.

"Do ya GOTTA be such a BUTT, bro???" She would finally gasp out, before huffing ad puffying like a little puffer fish, "If ya didn't want me ta say anything... t-then ya didn' hafta say it like dat!"
