Since everyone is doing their jikook timelines, here are my two cents🐰🐥

Disclaimer: This is of course only speculation. I don't know what actually went through their heads during any time, and I won't pretend I do. This is just based on my obversation and thoughts I've had through the years. Also, while I do assume they are actually in a relationship in this post I am aware that there's a possibility they're not.

2013 + pre-debut: I think JM immediately took to JK, but mainly bc he was the first younger member. I feel like there was a lot of hyung-doting, not necessarily romantic on either part. In the beginning, TH and JK were stuck together more often. Also, a lot of people disagree but I actually have a feeling that JK knew he was into guys pretty early on. Maybe that's why he was so shy around all the members in the beginning..? But I feel like he was more focused on NJ at the start. I mean..."wow, thighs"?? If that was really a crush or only admiration misunderstood as a crush (both from JK and ARMYs), I don't know.

2014: JM got more bold in his affection to JK and it seemed to be a bit overwhelming for JK at times. He did seem to enjoy the attention but I feel like he was starting to crush on JM and thought JM was only on him for fanservice...not a nice feeling. 2014 JM is...kind of a wildcard to me. I feel like his forcedly 'masculine' behaviour also stemmed from trying to suppress his sexuality...maybe he overdid it with JK because he knew he (JM) was starting to crush on him? Like a fight fire with fire situation?

2015: A huge shift not only in their relationship but also in their individual identity and they way they portray themselves. I feel like all of BTS changed a lot during 2015. Maybe working on the HYYH albums and content worked as some kind of self-therapy. But it was most palpable with jikook. I do feel like something happened between them in 2015 but not an official relationship start.

2016: Feelings get stronger~ I think jikook definitely had a serious talk in 2016 and maybe the first kisses happened or something. But I do share the opinion of many others that JM didn't want to make it 'official' before JK was of age. Which happened during Bon Voyage in 2016 and honestly?? When they were wishing JK 'happy coming of age day' JM's reaction was veeery boyfriend-y. Like...proud older boyfriend whose baby is finally officially an adult. Also, jikook performed Adult Ceremony together for Festa. This is still very much something that happened and I'm still all 🤯 about it.

2017: Oh boy. It can't get much more official than that. In 2017 so many unexplainable moments started to rush in, one after the other, culminating in their trip to Tokyo and GCFT. People can say what they want but I have the feeling that JK was sending an obvious message with that trip and everything, not only to those ARMYs willing to listen but also to JM. "I'm here, I'm not going anywhere"

2018: Jikook in honeymoon phase™️ they keep bringing up their trip to Tokyo to everyone who wants to know (or doesn't lol). The members start to get a bit nervous with them...it already started in 2017, but got more during 2018 I feel. All the butting into jikook moments, poor NJ's incredulous reactions. Jikook get separated for games or when they pick rooms, interactions are cut out of official content with jump cuts, jikook inventing teleportation (jikook standing next to each other - cut - suddenly three members are between them),...in their effort of making jikook less obvious, both the other members and BH actually make them more suspicious.. whelp..

2019: The members and BH let jikook jikook a bit more. I feel like they probably all discussed boundaries which jikook love stretching this way and that way a little just to let them bounce back into place while taking a step back again. "Let's see how far we can go" a dangerous game but SK's veeeery heteronormative society/culture helps.

2020-today: I feel like they settled into their 'role' a bit more than the past years. They tested out the boundaries and know more or less what they can get away with. I think they know people speculate about them (BTS know about ships and nobody can tell me otherwise). I feel like their strategy is basically "we will do so many things just out in the open, and people will still always explain them away or go 'nah, they would never make it that obvious'" aka the frequent car sharing, "waking up next to jungkook uwu", late-night buddies, spending a lot of time together off-schedule,...as long as they don't kiss or explicitly say they're together, heteronormativity works for them - although there are some people who are suspicious about them, there will always be people who 'put them in their place'. An automatic checks-and-balances. I do feel like they send certain 'signals' that people are supposed to pick up on. A while ago I saw an essay of someone dissecting JK's art for queer-coding as seen in the Korean queer community, using words, shapes, colours that are used among queer people as signs. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Generally, I'm sure jikook didn't have an easy start. From struggles with their own identity to the issues/dangers of dating a band member. That's probably also why it took years for them to ever make it 'official'. I don't think they made that decision lightly, they're both not stupid although people like to paint them as reckless etc. It probably took a lot of (possibly uncomfortable) talks between themselves and with the other members. And then the discussions with the management (nobody can tell me that if jikook are real the staff don't know about it...all the jump cuts tell me otherwise.)...no, it was certainly not a light decision but it seems to have worked out well.

ok, so like, i feel like this kinda swerves into an uncomfortable area of, people speculating that kibum's dating every guy he's close to, and, yeah, that's not cool. not saying you're one of those people anon, but, ehhhhh, it's a fine line with some people.

i never really thought anything about them at the time, other than they're friends, and key has a fuckton of friends, lol, and before enlistment he posted so many selfies with so many people.

but, i will say that the way fans felt about chaejin is veeeery reminiscent of how they were with hyeongseop. people thought they might be dating, which causes immediate hate for some reason?? and they got annoyed when he posted that he was wearing something of key's, or when he posted about commega, or was with key in general. i even saw a few people saying that he was using key like hyeongseop did.

which, is something that annoys me in itself. like, key's a grown ass man, very clever, and from what i've observed of him, a good judge of character. the way some fans want to jump on people they think are 'using' him, is ridiculous. y'all don't know him, or his friends to make claims like that!

anyway, kibum and chaejin were pretty close for a few years, from like late 2016/early 2017 i think? and i know he was even on an ep of cheongdam keychin.

also, chaejin had a bit of a scandal where some photos of him and a woman were visibly drunk and just, messing around, got leaked, so that made fans hate him even more for being associated with key when he had bad press. key didn't seem to care though, and even talked about the scandal on cheongdam keychin lol, and was all like 'why can't you manage your private life well?' hdhdjsnsksksk

aaaandd, i remember being hyped at one point because chaejin is also friends with teen top's ricky, who is my bias, and they all hung out together. which was very cute.

chaejin also hung out with nicole too! which should say something about how close he and key were, because we all know nicole is one of kibum's very best friends

then, in in think late 2019?? they unfollowed each other, and chaejin deleted all his pics of them, except this, very cute one, of when he visited key during his enlistment, which is still on his insta now.

now, as i have said before, who key follows and doesn't follow on insta, is in no way indicative of who he's friends with irl, and key tends to go on mini unfollow sprees every now and then, so??? make of that what you will.

they could have been dating, they could just have been friends, they might still be friends even?

it's not as notorious as keyseop because it wasn't as loud, but, it did follow a similar pattern in terms of fan reaction which, i think is pretty interesting.

A day of pondering on the matter again later, I remembered:

He has that built-in shuriken storage (and the seams that go with them on the back of his hand) in both his arms. So I guess it’s safe to say he didn’t get to keep his left arm after all.

Yeaaah tbh that arm was also bothering me. Along with his neck. I’m fine with a big chunk of his upper body still being mostly human-looking, but tbh I doubt all the seams, wires and tubes in his collarbone now are just here for show. So yeah. More than likely, there was a point where the fleshy parts couldn’t work with his new nervous system / implants anymore, and Mercy gradually had to replace everything with more robotic parts, probably much to his despair.

Tbh as I interpret it, maybe the form we saw in the comic was actually a veeeery early version of Genji’s new body that actually no longer existed at this point in the timeline. His body was most likely already completed when the Uprising came around.

Eheh, there’s a loooot of love and care from the writers that went in the OW lore, but tbh Blizz is known for the occasional anachronism and timeline incoherence in a lot of their stuff. (like in the recall short and tbh almost every Warcraft related material they put out. I haven’t played WoW since MoP but I’m p sure Legion just wiped its ass with the timeline) It wouldn’t be beyond them to have just showed this form of Genji here to hype up a possible new skin.

I love everything about this tbh. I hope they never make stuff like novels / a series / a movies bc “here’s the random stories elements, NOW HAVE FUN” is one of the best way to present your canon ever tbh.

Oh he def was in Blackwatch at some point though, I’m not denying that. I’m actually warming up to the idea. (Though I still really think he was pretty neutral to OW’s inner workings... or as I said to Woo once: “The side he picked in the Jack and Gabe conflict was Ana”s”)

Also I’m keeping my “his hair’s naturally green” headcanon by saying the black was the dye and it eventually went away.

I have a question for your tfa cygate au. What would happen if tailgate was taken (or "rescued") by autobots?

I don’t think there’d be an appreciable difference if Tailgate had been rescued by the Autobots, aside from TG possibly not meeting Cyclonus as early on!

in the “regular” way it goes down, the Autobots and the Decepticons have agreed to an armistice (because Rodimus became Acting Magnus and is way better at it than Sentinel) and part of that armistice agreement involves allowing certain Decepticons to visit Cybertron. Cyclonus is one of the Decepticons allowed on Cybertron for reasons of negotiation. He’s extremely listless though, and since most of the negotiation is focused on other members of high command he has a lot of free time. At one point he decides to do some flying (ostensibly to memorize the map of Cybertron for later use) but when he flies over the Mitteous Plateau, he finds Tailgate - who has an Autobot badge. He saves Tailgate mostly out of apathy, thinking it doesn’t matter either way (this timeline is already apparently ‘wrong’ anyways since it’s unlikely to lead to Galvatron’s creation), and according to the rules under armistice he delivers Tailgate to his fellow Autobots who then get him all fixed up.

that’s how it goes down normally… so in the case of the Autobots rescuing Tailgate, there would just be much less opportunity for Cyclonus and Tailgate to meet each other! I’m sure they’d find a way though. Tailgate’s veeeery curious about those Decepticon types…
