ugh. Guess how far away I am from winning NaNo?
5,000 words. That's it. That's all.
Just one problem: NaNo ends in one hour for me. I write about 1,000 words per hour. Oh, I can write faster, absolutely... if you want some of the worst bullshit you've ever seen.
Well. I can think of better ways to waste my time.
Back in... I think it was 2010?... I wrote two 50,000-word novels for a grand total of 100,000 total words. I wrote the first one in a single week. Are there good ideas in there? Yeah, sure! Is any of it redeemable? Oh jesus no. Oh jesus lord holy shit No. I don't remember the last time I read it but I do remember cringing.
I decided afterward that the point of writing something was for me to like it and feel proud. I wanted something that was worth editing later. You absolutely can write so badly that what you've done is uneditable and should just be thrown in the trash.
So... what is the point of pumping out junk? For a confetti animation and a badge?
Look, I did a really good job this NaNo, all things considered. There were major family medical emergencies and I was still dealing with the aftermath of my own. I let myself do a LOT of sleeping, and I don't regret it at all.
I managed to put out 45,000 words in 3 weeks, essentially. That's pretty damn good. It's also comparable to my work last year around this time, so I'm in good company!
I also got some good work done this month on some difficult subjects I've never attempted before.
So now, if you don't mind... imma takin me a nice long break lol

decided to write some fic for nanowrimo this year! it's about ryuk watching light throughout his life, and also about light being really gay and refusing to accept that. i'm really fascinated by the idea of ryuk as a witness to light's life. a little greek chorus consisting one one strange creature. anyway, i thought i'd share a passage from it. here's light going to a high school party.
“Come on, Yagami,” says Chisaka. He pats the ground beside him. “Come sit.” Light heads over and sits beside him. Chisaka holds out a can of beer. He hesitates, then takes it. He does not open it. “I didn’t think you’d come,” Chisaka says. His cheeks are flushed, but not badly. “Why not?” “You never come to parties.” “No one ever invites me,” Light tells him, then darts his eyes sideways. That probably isn’t casual the way he wants it to be. Humans like to seem unaffected by things. They don’t want to look like they care about the things they care about. They find it embarrassing, or something silly like that. And they don’t want to seem like they’ve been left out of anything; they don’t always want to be the same as each other, but they never want to seem like they’re worse. They’d rather do the leaving out.
Shinigami don’t act like that. They simply don’t care enough. They laugh at anyone who tries to be different, sure, but it’s barely even malicious because they simply do not have that kind of interest in the world around them. In a way, Ryuk admires the Shinigami who die to save humans. At least they care about something. To care enough to die for it would be a gift.
Chisaka looks around them. “No. Really? But everyone loves you.” He sounds quite sincere. Light shrugs, looking uncomfortable.
“Well, I did say I’m too busy studying for exams, so they probably don’t want to bother me.” Chisaka nods. “That’s true. You quit the tennis team. And you don’t date anyone.” “Yeah. Both of those are right.” “You were really good, you know. At tennis.” “Thank you.” “And you’re really pretty.”
Light goes pink. “No, that’s not true.”  That doesn’t mean anything — Ryuk knows Light knows this. Humans just can’t admit that they like each other’s compliments. It’s another one of their strange rituals. “Well, it is. All the girls love you, ‘cause you’re pretty and you’re sweet, and you’re not stuck-up about it. Like you could be a real asshole, you know. You’re almost an asshole, ‘cause I know you know you’re better than everyone at like school and math and sports and everything like that, but you’re such a fucking dork that it cancels it all out, you know?” He nods, twice, then looks deep into Light’s eyes. “You could be such a loser. You’re so weird and you’re kind of whiny and you act like a baby sometimes, like a baby duck following your friends around or like walking around by yourself all the time with your eyes closed. And you only care about school and Mario which are both like, the most losery things anyone could imagine ever.”
For a long moment, Light stares at him. Ryuk has absolutely no idea what he’s thinking. He wonders if Chisaka is going to end up dead tomorrow.
Then, to Ryuk’s surprise, he smiles, and it looks both fond and entirely authentic. Light plucks the can out of Chisaka’s hand and pours it out on the grass beside him. “I think you’ve had enough,” he says.
Chisaka smiles back at him. “It’s part of your charm. You’re just so fucking helpless.” Ryuk thinks of Light with his pen. Thinks of the way his expression doesn’t change at all when he writes names into it; thinks of him screaming at his television set when that gothic L showed up on it. He thinks of the way Light had looked him straight in the face and said, there’s no heaven and no hell, and the way his fingers had shaken while he said it but his gaze hadn’t wavered. Helpless, sure; helpless in the same way all humans are, hurtling towards that same empty space. Breakable and soft. But he is also brutal and quick. He thinks up vile things and he carries them out without flinching. He is so very special. Ryuk hopes he lives for decades.

Coming Attractions!
Short one again, and technically a day late, ah well.
As always, feel free to check out my writing discord; and I’ll hang out for an Open Question Night if y’all are interested!
I also have a couple of meme/question lists open (one; two; three; four; five); feel free to send me some of those (please specify which list)!
Star Wars Projects:
Precipice!verse: Still not officially on hiatus because I am Determined not to let that happen, lol. I am...admittedly not sure when the next chapter/next Preludes story will come out, but.
SWBB: I am starting to toy with stuff for next year, but I don’t have a concrete idea yet...still leaning towards a BSG crossover because there’s a lot of Interesting Stuff I could do there (especially in PT/TCW era, which has always been my SW home, so to speak).
AtLA Projects:
On hold for the moment...I couldn’t sustain the momentum, alas. But I’m sure sooner or later (probably sooner) something will pop up that will get me to start Actively Working on at least the Avatar Zuko story, and maybe one of the others.
Castlevania Projects:
I swear I really am working on Incinctus XD It’s just this next chapter is being a pain in the ass; I’ve got the like...two or three after it essentially ready but This One.
BSG Projects:
The Other Battlestar is actually coming along! I’m probably just going to go in chronological order, which does mean spending a solid chunk at the beginning introducing four (or possibly five) OCs who are central to the plot (Pegasus SMO Daphne [Last Name Still Needed]; the marine officer formerly known as Rex who needs renamed [as I complained about the other day lol]; Replacement VP [who...also needs a name, lol...]; and then Atia [who does all the Science Stuff]; I am also putting a Four in play because I can, but he might not get introduced until Pegasus happens to that civilian fleet.)
...yeah, there are still some missing names here XD I’m also still not super happy with the title, but I have yet to come up with a better one...and toying with the idea of doing one POV per chapter and having the POV character as the chapter title (like I did with Take a Bond of Fate; or some other internal structure, but that can be settled once I have more text.
But I did have fun earlier today poking at Fleet!Cavil and how some of his gambits are altered. Little taste (rough/unedited/draft-y; not sure I like some of the wording I’m using here, but still):
He could, technically, refer to them as Shelly and Vera, but it felt so...undignified, to think of them as anything other than what they were. They were Cylons, not humans. The names were a convenient fiction while they were completing the genocide.
And now, he supposed, the mop-up after.
Still, a way to distinguish them would be useful, especially since they had gone to such lengths to distinguish themselves. Fine. Six-A would be the buttoned-up librarian, and Six-B would be the clever prostitute.
Anyway, I’m going to keep pushing at this; goal is to work on it a little bit each day and hopefully these holes will fill in as I go. I’m also thinking ahead to NaNo, and how I want to split my time there...but hopefully I’ll have started posting this before we get there, lol.
(As for other BSG projects--various random prompts that have flitted around my brain; Serenissima; pondering a For Sorrow Sung rewrite--those are not a Focus at the moment but are definitely hanging around and might see some movement as well. I also need to get back to my rewatch...)
Other Fanfic Projects:
My PodTogether project went live! It is a Leverage/Nikita crossover, and I had a great time putting it together and working with farkenshnoffingottom (who was my podficcer).
Original Fic:
I do love the summer challenges on Rainbowfic because I always get stuff done there, lol. I think I did some really nice things this time around.
I am vaguely poking at some of the other/more long-term projects (Lady Mordred; one or two alternate history things; that first contact novel I was working on for NaNo one year...) but no actual text has made it down lately. I should get back into those...
...I think that pretty much sums it up!

excerpt from when the witches call: perfect moral angels
i LOVE writing suzume and viola so much. they guide me and tell me where to take their fights, what to have them say thatll dig the deepest. this is a classic example, also suzume revealing a truth she has omitted for fifty five years.
transcript, taglist, and a bonus snippet of this pre editing under the cut! also happy nano to everyone, i hope you're all taking care of yourselves and writing to your own pace and limits. tell me about how it's going for you, what you're working on! sorry i havn'et been posting as much, i have been keeping to my 2-4k per day steady goal that i was already doing for wtwc. did i ever say i was doing wtwc for nano? well i am
“You were supposed to be smart enough to figure this out,” she jeers, unable to help herself. Viola’s face hardens again, but Suzume speaks before she can retort. “I watched you when you came to Miykawa that first time. I hid around the corners and skulked above your heads.”
“You couldn’t skulk secretly to save your life,” Viola scoffs.
“Well, I did,” Suzume snaps, “and I watched you all murder with your guns of indestructible power, bright beams of light I didn’t think were real. You all seemed like something horrifying that had just walked out of a story my mother read me.”
“We murdered for just causes,” Viola hisses, getting to her feet. Serian lays a tentative hand on her arm.
“Viola,” he murmurs, “you have to admit sometimes we weren’t always perfect moral angels when we used our forces against the wrongdoers of the world. We had to make the call about who deserved to die and who didn’t, and that is never an easy line to determine. We overstepped it at times, for revenge, for personal dislike, and threw nations into chaos. Remember when we killed King Gondriel because he had insulted your lover, and that caused the Gemish civil war? You had to be reminded of limits a lot. Still do.”
“You don’t know a damn thing about me,” she hisses, shaking off his touch, still glaring at Suzume. “You saw us killing, and was horrified when we informed you that you had the same powers. And so then you decided you were that perfect moral angel, immune from the stain that killing would leave on your soul? Good fucking job. Do you want a pat on the back? Do you want me to tell you how good you are?”
“I want you,” Suzume says, stalking up to her and staring her in the face, though Viola is a head taller than her, “to shut up and listen to me for once in your life. The only time you’re really listening is when we’re discussing power. It wouldn’t hurt you to grow some compassion.”
Viola backhands her. Suzume turns her head, biting her cheek to hide her wince. The boys’ eyes rove over them both like sticky honey, and out of the corner of her eye Suzume can see the hands Serian and Askel are keeping on each others’ arms to keep each other still. They’re scared of me, Suzume realizes with a heady rush. She herself is working hard not to be scared of the glowering Viola.
“I never claimed to be perfect, or moral,” Suzume sighs. “I just decided for myself that I wasn’t going to be like you. Because I didn’t want to get dragged into your world. Not because I wanted to fulfill a moral debt to the world, even the balance, whatever shit you’re thinking. You have seen that I have no qualms about murdering and punishing the unjust when they have wronged me. I am simply not the same as you. It’s not always about you, you know.”
Viola looks ready to backhand her again, but she just nods sharply and turns away. Suzume takes a breath of quiet relief and leaves that battle alone, wondering if she won or lost.
wtwc taglist (lmk to be added/removed): @magic-is-something-we-create @47crayons @saltwaterbells @piyawrites @faithfire @chaotic-queer-disaster @ren-c-leyn @worldbuildng
bonus unedited piece from this excerpt:
“You couldn’t skulk secretly to save your life,” Viola scoffs.
“Well, I did,” Suzume snaps, “and I watched you all murder.”
“For just causes,” viola hisses, getting to her feet. Serian lays a tentative hand on her arm.
“Viola,” he murmurs, “you have to admit sometimes we weren’t always perfect moral angels. You had to be reminded of limits a lot. Still do.”
“You don’t know a damn thing about me,” she hisses, shaking off his touch, still glaring at Suzume. “And you decided you were that perfect moral angel, immune from killing and the stain of it on your soul? Good fucking job. Do you want a pat on the back.”
“I want you,” Suzume says, stalking up to her and staring her in the face, though a head separates them in height, “to shut up and listen to me for once in your life. The only time you’re really listening is when we’re discussing power.”
Viola backhands her. Suzume shakes her head, biting her cheek to hide her wince.

tno | shattering gravity | chapter 28
Sat up right, he turned his eyes toward one of her braids. The moment she was about to ask his fingers were removing the tie on one of them. His fingers got to work unweaving it, gentle per usual.
“I was hoping to use this break to get food, skijic,” she grumbled half-heartedly. Her head leaned closer to him of its own volition.
“I don’t need your hair getting in your way,” he said distractedly.

I was wondering if you have any writing advice for new/young writers?
Full disclaimer: I have never published any writing. So this is going on all personal stuff of fanfiction, the original novel I wrote one NaNo and then never touched again, the short stories I’ve written for my writing minor in college, and the stuff I do as an English teacher. If that’s okay, then continue on. In short, I only have two bits of advice: write and read constantly.1. Write constantly. The earlier a person can start, the better. I started out “roleplaying” our Harry Potter Mary Sue characters with my friends in sixth or seventh grade. Then I was into yahoo messenger chatroom roleplaying for Trigun (I’m definitely dating myself with that sentence.) that moved on to Lord of the Flies fanfiction, Xiolin Showdown fanfiction, Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Yuri on Ice fanfiction. I notice I pretty much write one drug-heavy story in every fandom I’m in. But pick something you love and write about it. Step one is just to practice. Some days, I’m really good at sitting down and writing. Two weeks ago, I wrote like 16k in a week. Not bad for having a full-time job and other responsibilities. Then life picked up again and I haven’t written since. But the more often I write the better. WFL was written nearly daily over the course of a year. A blank page turns into thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of words pretty quickly as long as you sit down to write (even when you don’t feel inspired) and don’t force yourself to make something “great.” I tell my seventh grade kids during the creative writing unit that for 15 minutes a day, they should just write: “words on a page.” You can make them better words later, but at first, “words on a page.”Oh, save everything! Not sentence level changes to drafts but don’t delete old stories because you think it’s not good. That stuff is GOLD. 2. Read constantly.I loved reading as a teenager. I’d read nearly anything, and I always had a novel on me. Even better, I always enjoyed fanfics because it’s the characters I know in all sorts of situations. I think reading that (and writing that) builds versatility in an author. After I finished Red Dead 2, I started reading some fics, then I was inspired to write my own (well, a YoI OutlawAU). I think seeing other styles also helps develop our own style, too. Similarly, I think movies/tv/video games are great for variety too, but to really get a knack for writing, you have to read. That’s the only way to build in format and grammar stuff sort of naturally. For example, one person speaks per paragraph. If a new character speaks, they need a new paragraph. I don’t think anyone taught me that. It’s just the format nearly every novel has. (Disclaimer: grammar “rules” can be broken, but for specific reasons. And if it’s over done, it’s so distracting that others will have a hard time reading it. Make sure your grammar is on point as much as possible. I am a typo queen and I can’t always see my own mistakes until years later, so that’s why I try to have someone beta anything I want to put online. But the big “rules,” especially with dialogue, are so distracting to me as a reader that I’ve been known to quit fics that have great ideas because reading it is too frustrating.) Final thoughts: When you’re first starting out, don’t worry if it’s good, especially at the beginning. I can’t read much of anything I write without cringing (including WFL) at myself. So instead, write what YOU want to write. Write what you want to read. Don’t sit down and think you’re going to write a masterpiece. Sit down and write something that’s fun for you to write. Find a “think” place. I *can* write without my think place, but if I can sit outside on my front porch with some music and get lost in my thoughts, I can dream up a story. I wrote most of WFL at night because I would plan what I would write earlier that day on my porch. I didn’t often write anything down more than a handful of notes of where I wanted the story to go. I can kind of do it while walking, so try taking a walk and letting yourself get lost in the story. (I’m not great at not tripping though) but find what works for you. If I don’t have an idea going in, I’ll stare at a blank page and get mad. Always have an idea before you attack (even 11% of a plan). Take feedback as graciously as possible (which I find harder in the fanfic world than I do with my original stories mostly). Better yet, find someone you love and who loves you to share your stories with. That way, someone you trust is giving you feedback before any other eyes get to see it. I use this as a double-positive because I can use my buddy to keep me honest and send her what I finished that night. While it’s raw and gross and unedited, she still sees I wrote a bit that night, so I’m not slacking on my own goals. I like to do that when I’m really struggling to get words on a page. (And in the summer, when neither of us teachers have work every single day, just a couple of times a week). And last, don’t do it if it isn’t fun. You’re allowed to put down books or fics if you don’t like them. You’re allowed to abandon ideas halfway through when no one saw it. Reading is exhausting for me. I grade papers for a living, so I don’t always (or hardly ever) want to read in my spare time. So I try to read a little bit before bed at night and I like to read for an hour or so before I get out of bed on the weekends. Some time when it’s enjoyable.Keep a similar attitude with writing. Every bit of writing I do is “practice,” so even if nobody reads it, I’m a thousand words stronger today than I was yesterday, even if it wasn’t great or it never turns into a story that anyone sees but me. I never sit down and think “today is the day I’m going to write a book that will change the world.” And that takes serious pressure off of me. Some day, I may write that book. But it won’t be today or tomorrow, so I’m just practicing until then.So overall, listen to your body. If reading or writing makes you miserable and you dread sitting down to do it... don’t do it. True, “words on a page” can’t happen if you don’t sit down and write, but there are many days when I know it wouldn’t be good to force myself. Finding that balance is an art that may not be able to be mastered, but it’s one we have to try for nevertheless.

Obligatory Post NaNoWriMo 2022 check-in post
Tumblr media
hello! this is rambling and unedited, as per usual.
I wrote 52,129 words of a novel last month. For the past couple weeks i’ve been decompressing, I’ve been READING (for the first time in... half a year?) not thinking about my book and finally(!) getting back to my yoga and exercise, habits that I really let fall by the wayside in November.
This was my 13th year participating in NaNoWriMo and since I took last year off before my YTT I really wanted to win. I used most of my outline and prep work from the end of October 2021 and ran with it. I think it turned out mostly OK.
This story I wrote is not great, the characters are as dry as the desert setting of the book, but there are some things I’m happy with. My goal is to lightly edit the book and then print on demand so friends and family can get some copies. mostly I just want one for myself, to sit on my shelf as a kind of callback to the early nano days, when createspace used to give free proof copies to winners. That was a huge incentive to win and a fun prize at the end.
I’m also (secretly) hoping that doing light edits of this book will prime my brain to tackle another round of edits for Good People because fuck it I think I want to try querying. I have no idea what I’m getting into but I really like that story and I think I want to share it.
so, onto some creative goals (I really miss setting goals, I think because I have the memory of a goldfish I need to make more of an effort to record my goals and check back on them because otherwise I will legit just forget) - and it’s fine to set goals in the middle of the month, sometimes months start on the 12th I guess
❄️ December ❄️
- read 5 books (2/5 read so far) - edit 12 chapters for Breath of Fire (6/12 done already) - write in journal
2023 goals - mostly to be determined but I already have one deadline ... I want to finish editing Breath of Fire by January 31 so I can print on demand in the first half of February. Then I’ll work on Good People and maybe another new book because I’ve had an idea kicking around in my head for a first person romance/mystery/supernatural character driven kind of story that I’d like to write.

My very first nano from way back had chapters from 300-3000 words. TWB unedited seems to average like ~2k per chapter, while Daisy, which doesn't have chapters yet, looks like it’d be around ~4k per chapter. So uhhh...?
Reblog with your average chapter length and chapter length range.
I wanna make some fancy graphs.

DIYShowOff Fab and over 40 Favorite: Savvy Minerals MakeUp
“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” ~Coco Chanel
A little detour from DIY home improvement and decorating today as I share a little about one of my new favorite things!  It’s a tad long but very informative and if you wear makeup, please take a minute to scroll through!
“26 seconds after exposure, chemicals are found in measurable amounts in the human body. The average woman applies 300 chemicals to her body a day – 80 before breakfast.”
I still hardly recognize my new round, fuller…mature face in selfies! lol! But hey, I am loving the new Savvy Minerals makeup collection! {Beware: unedited photos! lol}
Our skin is our largest organ and what we put on it matters, including makeup! All of those chemicals over time are going to catch up with us. Time to ditch the toxins in your makeup bag and get your game on because this was Made. For. You!
I’m wearing:
Warm 2 foundation I Do Believe You’re Blushing blush Eyeshadow: Inspired and Residual Jet Setter eyeliner and Determined Eyeshadow (brows) Lipstick: Daydream Lipgloss: Embrace
As I work to rid the chemicals and toxins from my home, one area that I kept putting off was my makeup bag and I knew the facts: Skin is my body’s largest organ. The stats: the average woman applies 300 chemicals to her skin per day, 80 before breakfast. Yikes! But man, I’m the type to not leave the house without makeup. I’m just not that confident in my “natural” beauty. It feels more “natural: scary to all the people to me.
Get your Savvy Minerals makeup collection —> HERE!
Last summer I attended the Young Living convention and got to see the Savvy Minerals makeup line first hand. I ordered a few pieces at a time and despite my initial hesitation at applying mineral makeup, I have grown to love (no… LOVE in capital letters!) my Savvy Minerals makeup collection.
Now, I am (ahem) over 40 with imperfect skin, occasional breakouts (darn you, wacky hormones!), dark circles (thanks thin skin gene) and a few sun spots. Not to mention I’m now looking at a few wrinkles as well. I really didn’t think mineral (powder) makeup was for me. It sounded awfully drying and cake-y! Right? Well, I was wrong!
It’s been about 8 months now and I have to tell you, I wake up and before I head downstairs, I brush my teeth and apply my makeup. It feels good! I did a quick video on my routine. It takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish.
youtube
Get your Savvy Minerals makeup collection —> HERE!
There was a little bit of a learning curve, a little adjustment to go from hiding behind a thick chemical mask of makeup to a pretty natural non toxic application that feels like I’m wearing nothing but I’m SO pleased this this stuff! It’s not difficult! It’s just different! It’s not air brushed/photoshopped/fake looking. It’s real and natural and I don’t know – you really have to experience it to understand. But if you’ve been looking for a makeup without the toxic ingredients, if you have sensitive skin, if you’re embracing a chemical free lifestyle and making healthier choices (and even if none of that applies to you) – THEN Savvy Minerals is worth a shot because what we apply to our skin is absorbed and ingredients DO matter.
Happy to know: Savvy Minerals are not tested on animals.
And ladies, just taking this baby step with me makes me feel like we’re changing the world! Let’s do this! Doesn’t it make you so angry that there are even ALLOWED to be harmful ingredients in products we use and apply to our bodies?! It should!
(Any info on a chemical free hair dye for those grays?! lol)
Savvy Minerals are free from harsh toxins, nano particles, paraben, gluten, fillers, talc and so much more! Wellness never looked so good!
Get your Savvy Minerals makeup collection —> HERE!
Here’s a little more info about the Savvy Minerals makeup collection:
Ingredients matter: What’s not in Savvy Minerals makeup?
What IS in Savvy Minerals makeup?
Ingredients like: Kaolin clay, jojoba oil, mica, aloe, pure essential oils, aspen bark extract, arrow root powder, sweet almond oil, beeswax, sunflower oil, vitamin E.
Young Living not only chose not to put the common “yuck” ingredients inside our makeup, they chose to put the GOOD stuff in there so we can actually have benefits to wearing Savvy Minerals! Check out some of these benefits! No wonder several people have reported calmer, smoother, less irritated skin after wearing Savvy Minerals for a few days!
Want to hear a cool fact about Aspen Bark? Check this out! Not only does Aspen Bark have skin softening properties but it is a natural preservative allowing us to use it instead of those nasty parabens!
Lip Gloss is so trendy right now. Let’s talk about a few things – Did you know that the brighter the color and the longer the wear, the more toxins may be in the formula? And what about those lip glosses that are slick and oily feeling? You can attribute that to the petrochemicals. What?! We lick our lips, eat our food, and sip our drinks all while wearing the stuff. Why would I ever apply anything but the cleanest, more pure ingredients to my MOUTH? Savvy Minerals is made with natural ingredients that you can feel good about licking!
These lip glosses also contain pure peppermint essential oil which gives you a fun little tingle. Wear these alone or layered over your favorite Savvy Mineral lipstick.
What exactly is misting spray? You can see from these benefits that your skin will crave this stuff and you’ll get a better coverage and longer wear from your Savvy Minerals Makeup.
And now you can actually get the Savvy Minerals premium starter kit – an entire collection for just $150! It includes:
1 foundation
1 foundation brush
1 blush
3 eye shadows – Eye shadows are one of the most fun tools in your makeup bag. Savvy Minerals offers a couple of matte as well as shimmery choices for your eyes. Unlike other brands, the shimmery colors are very forgiving on mature skin (ahem). You must give them a try! Apply a little shadow for a natural look or build the color for a more dramatic look, utilize the misting spray for a bolder look.
1 misting spray
1 5 ml lavender essential oil – supports all things healthy skin (and it’s relaxing and calming too!)
1 lipgloss!
Isn’t that an amazing deal?! Of course you also get:
the wholesale membership which means you have lifetime access to wholesale prices with no further obligations. No yearly fees, etc. No need to cancel anything, no automatic charges to your credit card. No products you didn’t order showing up at your doorstep. NO obligations to sell. I think it’s just like my membership to Sam’s Club but lifetime instead of yearly. Both give me access to shop! That’s it.
but…Your girlfriends are going to want in on this secret as well, so when you are a member, you have the option (OPTIONAL) to have them get Savvy Minerals using YOUR member# as enroller/sponsor! Again, you do NOT have to sell. Sharing is optional.
You get pretty excited about makeup or be a makeup enthusiast and you already know you want to share Savvy Minerals with all of your friends. You can totally get your makeup paid for or earn money on the side. Some people have even made Young Living a full time career. The Young Living Compensation Plan is the most generous in all of direct selling and network marketing. You can go here to look at the Income Disclosure Statement to see some of the average monthly paychecks people are getting. Just an FYI, I’m a Young Living Silver leader. I did earn a free trip to the Young Living lavender farm too! It’s amazing!

Are you warm or cool?
If you are undecided if you are Warm or Cool, here are some helpful hints from Royal Crown Diamond April Pointer:
1. Check Your Veins — Push your sleeves up and look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. Are they blue or green? If they look more blue, you likely have cool undertones. If the veins look greenish, you’re warm. 2. The Jewelry Trick — Think about whether you look better in silver or gold jewelry Typically, ladies with cool undertones look better in silver and platinum metals, and warm-toned women look better in gold. 3. The Neutral Test — Think about what neutral shades flatter you best. Does your skin, eyes, and face look better in bright white and black hues, or ivory, off-whites, and brown/tan shades? The first means you’re probably cool-toned, and the latter, warm. 4. Eye and Hair Color — Your natural eye and hair colors can help figure out your coloring. Customarily, cool people have eyes that are blue, gray, or green and have blond, brown, or black hair with blue, silver, violet and ash undertones. Conversely, warm-toned women usually have brown, amber, or hazel eyes with strawberry blond, red, brown, or black hair. Their hair tends to have gold, red, orange, or yellow undertones. 5. The Sun’s Effects — When you’re out in the sun, does your skin turn a golden-brown, or does it burn and turn pink first? If you fit into the first category, you’re warm-toned, while cool tones tend to burn.
Still not sure? Here are some more tips from Kathi Glaze Williams: If you know your seasonal colors, then this may help you. Basically, there are light and dark cools and light and dark warms. Light and dark cools are summer and winters. Winters are dark cools and tend to have rich and intense hair and eye colors and look great in bolder shades like black and red. Summers are light cools and look best in pastel shades like rose, periwinkle and sage. Your coloring tends to be more delicate. Autumns are dark warms and look beautiful in the fall colors of moss, rust and terracotta. Think about leaves and spices. Springs are light warms (ME!) Best colors are ones that match our eyes but we love to wear turquoise, watermelon and salmon.
One more tip! Gold is warm and Silver is cool. If you have a piece of fabric, like a shawl, wrap yourself in it and see which one makes you look better. Which color evens out your skin tones and make your eyes stand out?
Do you know what tone you are?
I have a darker sort of olive complexion so I’m ‘warm’.
