Given that Maria is receiving longterm care for a degenerative neurological disease with immunosuppressive traits, it never made sense to me that her outfit was designed the way it was, it'd be really hard to get lines in and stuff if she needed iv medication?? so I scrapped that and made a design based off of fashion hospital gowns with pockets and stuff. the overcoat is designed to keep her warm and also has things to hold lines and stuff, and she's wearing hospice socks.

Other than that it seemed to make sense she'd wear fitted masks whenever she was out and about the ark in order to ensure she gets no airborne infections, and I gave her the color band for 'no vaccinations' for similar reasons. Her hair's a lot more scraggly b/c she's likely constantly getting sick, and with the antibiotics and other medicines she's on I figure shed be fairly underweight even despite the nutrition monitoring by her DRs.

Marias age is never really cleared up in any of the lore, but it's implied from dialog she was raised on the ARK in hospice for most of her life, and possibly doesn't have any memories of earth. Given that she can't do a lot of things other people can on the ARK, I figure she'd probably appreciate a lot of things other people her age might have grown out of, like cutesy glow in the dark patterned gowns and drawing faces on her masks. Her and Shadow probably liked to doodle on the paper gowns she had to wear for certain procedures.
