Oh my, the mermaid au ask got my brain rolling again. But it's for Dark Dream. I can't decide whether I want Hob to be the man or merman that gets captured by Dream or what. ARGHHHH THE POSSIBILITIESSS

Okay one au at a time, let's say Dream is a powerful eldritch siren that spots Hob fishing one day and falls in love with the human. Dream isn't human, so no human morals, law of the jungle applies, and to Dream as long as he subdues/kidnaps Hob and mates him, Hob is his forever. It's laughably easy for Dream to lure Hob into the waters with his singing, it's not cheating to him at all, he's winning Hob over fair and square.

The way I'm picturing Dream is that he's huge merman, cause of his long life and science and cause I said so. So once Hob is in his cove or lair, he's not getting out again cause Dream is there to pin him down or hypnotize him. At least the sex is mindblowingly good, though bizarre, Hob doesn't think he'll ever get used to being bred full of eggs.

ik i reblogged smth with the gehenna mv already but HOLY SHIT IT'S SO COOL. and the lyrics and symbolism in this song is... arghhhh.

explanation from the analysis video: in the song multiple times there were the phrase 「生きてたくないよ」 flashing on screen which means "I don't want to live", which is immediately replaced by "this is an improper statement" (idk the kanji for that one :sob:). meanwhile the phrase that overrides it, 「生きていたいよ」 is sang many times, which is the mechanism that comes from "the Bible called DNA" mentioned in the lyrics to protect someone from killing themselves. so the narrator just keeps on doing sh and lying to others that they stopped ("Yeah, well, I've quit doing that kind of thing already" and "Yeah, well, it seems like there's no prospect of recovery anymore / Don't ask me anything"). and gotta say this is such a realistic depiction of self harm and the social interactions that comes with it???

also adding on (bc the analysis video only talks abt the original mv) the imagery in the pjsk mv version too, with the planets corresponding with the chapters and the different equations, it really does seem like this "natural law" is keeping this person in check and keeping this person alive. arghhhhhhhh this is SO GOOD

ok VERY GOOD QUESTION i love love love act 3-5. all three of those r so fucking good and there’s not a single song i don’t like between all of them. if i had to choose an absolute favorite it MIGHT be act 3, only because it takes the listener SO FAR AWAY from the original story and throws them into a foreign event (world war 1). he said he had a story and in cauda venenum r so fucking good, plus it has my FAVORITE motif in all of the acts (the mustard gas motif)

what kind of music do YOU listen to

I’ve kind of realized that i’m mildly picky about what I listen to? Either that or it’s just bc I am extremely dependent on what kind of vibes I’m in the mood for + if whatever song fits said vibe

According to spotify my top genre was broadway, which I don’t completely agree with bc I have a friend who would 100% say ‘no you loser you aren’t that into broadway’ but also she’s just into show tunes way more than anything else. Ig it’s a vibes thing more than an actual ‘this has been shown on broadway’

Though I do love musicals, i’m kind of basic since I’ve only ‘watched’ hamilton (disney+ version when it was turned into a movie). But i’ve listened to some of the more popular songs from Dear Evan Hanson, Heathers, Be More Chill, Legally Blonde, and others that are just popular songs. A few years ago I watched a TON of animatics so I think that’s kind of where it came from.

Another thing that’s not as vibe specific is orchestra/band stuff. I love love LOVE when a live orchestra and/or wind ensemble gets incorporated into music. Cody Fry was my top artist this year, and basically all his songs have an orchestra in it minus his older albums and ITS SO COOL. I play clarinet (and bass clarinet) so that’s where that appreciation comes from. I also just like, wind ensemble music. Gustav Holst (second suite in f major) is a piece I played last year and I absolute fell in love with it. Samuel Hazo is also a super good composer and he has a gigantic roster. I played two pieces of his last year, ‘Arabesque’ and ‘Solas Annes (Yesterday’s Joy)’ Going back to Holst I can 100% appreciate his planets suite.

For that kind of music though, it helps if i’ve played the piece cause then I’m like ‘hehe I know this and THIS SPOT WAS SUPER HARD ARGHHHH’ but music is super fun.

OH ALSO I’m a choir kid (basically just a fine arts kid in general) so i’ve listened to some choral pieces too just cause I like how they were performed and I like how they sound. I’m a band kid first and foremost though.

Also I listen to a lot of game soundtracks, bc instrumentals are just peak, and they vibe pretty easy since I mostly listen to soundtracks that i’ve played before. (Minecraft, Omori, Stardew Valley, Breath of the Wild, Undertale, Deltarune, etc)

ok im going insane over crowley’s ‘no nightingales’ comment. firstly that is so emotionally devastating if i was aziraphale i would have curled up on the ground and started bawling.

but from a viewer’s perspective it’s confusing (what with the presumption that they can’t hear their own soundtrack) until you remember that the pianist played the song at the ritz on their little dinner date in s1ep6. and given the fact that their argument in s2ep6 was so goddamn heated and important, it wouldn’t make sense for crowley to reference that song unless it also meant something to aziraphale - like for example he didn’t quote ‘pale blue eyes’ because that song doesn’t hold meaning for aziraphale in the same way that it does for crowley. so i think they have a little agreement that that is their song. which makes sense because it’s such a perfect song arghhhh

so i reckon one of them miracled the pianist to play it in the ritz and the other one knew - my money is on crowley doing the miracle. which also makes sense because aziraphale miracled their table free, so crowley gets to set the mood <3

Daniel's Pop betrayed him as well, is Daniel to conclude there is no love there, either? The reason why they're all over each other is partly because words could break what they have and that would kill them. Which should tell anyone alive enough, but they can't risk the honest question. They fear that no so much (which they wouldn't if there was no love but they can't go there in their heads), and Daniel may have had it confirmed by Terry, but actions speak louder than words, and he's betrayed him more than once. And maybe his Danny feels he has to say it? Their minds just can't know, and that's why they avoid the topic. Yes, they tell each other 'I love you', but they keep looking for other ways to express their feelings in the moment. A hug, a kiss. A tender touch. A smile, caress. Unscripted. Unforced. To fill the cracks with gold.

This doesn't consciously occupy their mind, but it does play a part, if they dwell on it...

Only for that to get wiped away completely when the other needs them. They're there body and soul and they don't even blink. They don't even care, they just give themselves 100%.
