To be honest, it has not moved on. 😞 I haven’t been able to write anything for it in weeks and I’m plagued with guilt about that.

I’ve had quite a few messages asking where it is and that has, unfortunately, messed with my head about it ever being good enough. I know it’s such a privilege to have excited readers, and I’m very grateful for that of course, but the flip side is the burden of expectation… I’m so scared it’s going to let people down, especially the requester, that I seem incapable of moving forward on it at the moment. Imposter syndrome for the win haha.

At this rate, I don’t know if it will be Fall. Im very sorry. I’d prefer to wait than post something subpar.

for a long time i struggled w/ whether i wanted to do super clean animation-style stuff or full-on paintings which u can see here. i think i talked abt this a bit on my spam blog but basically i had an eureka moment where i realised i was sacrificing my enjoyment in the drawing process for an imaginary ideal goal and was kinda making myself miserable while drawing which meant i spent less time on each drawing which meant they always turned out subpar to my standards. so i kinda explored for awhile and i think ive landed on something that customizes my process to something my brain and eyes both approve of.

i think im slowly inching towards getting a bit more cleaner but a mate and i were talking the other day abt how drawings that uh.. look like drawings have a certain appeal yanno? like when u watch old cartoons and can see the pencil sketch lines. there's something charming abt it.

uh yeah idk where i was going w/ this lol. colouring sketches makes me happy 👍 brain go brr brr pretty colours 👍👍 no line weight club represent

I kinda agree with that one anon, Im not sure about how the academy votes but I think what has end up hurting colins chances is the fact that the entire cast was fantastic and colin didnt have to carry the film as much as brendan, austin had to do for there films. I love colin though,

I think the surprise was paul getting the oscar nom but I dont think he has any real chance.

Brendan is the wild card, his performance was great but the whale is not a great movie while elvis austin not only carries the film but voters and the academy really love that film. (at the moment he has momentum) but brendan fraser has the comeback story.

Depending on the SAGs, I think its leaning towards austin atm. And jennifer lawrence won at 22 and she really only had hunger games and winters bone when she won for silver linings playbook while oscars may not like to give younger actors, if the performance is good then it will be recognized. Just a few thoughts, sorry if I was rambling 😭😭😭

It's surely a TIGHT race this year in the "Best Actor" category imo. There were just so many great performances this year. I agree that many were kind of surprised when Paul got nominated. I guess some weren't really expecting that he would get the Oscar nod.

I do agree w/you that Brendan is the "comeback kid" and has a good comeback story, so I feel like the Academy might give it to him just to spite the Golden Globes lol. 😂 But.... at the same time, I agree with you as well that the Academy doesn't usually like awarding performances in sub-par movies. In fact, they'd probably rather award a DECENT performance in a GREAT movie, rather than award a STELLAR performance in a subpar movie. 🥴 😬

"The Whale" didn't get that many great reviews. But you're right, many ppl (young and old), critics and avg moviegoers alike saw "Elvis" and really loved it, so the fact that it's an enjoyable film to watch is a huge plus.

This to me, is just as devastating as losing a house in a fire, flood, or hurricane. Everything they've worked to achieve gone in an instant bc the govt won't find a solution. It seems simple to me, there must be records of employee payments, rent receipts etc, phone bills etc, if you can prove you've been here x amount of time then citizen, under x amount visa etc. Hold employers taking advantage of these immigrants liable for lost wages/wage theft/jail if they don't comply bc it's working for subpar slave wages. And then they must continue the employment at the correct wages, with insurance etc. That way illegals become legal, employers don't get to run slave wage games while holding the almighty power of ICE above their heads to take advantage of them. But I dunno, it just seems more logical to me but it would also cut employer profits from farms to corporations, so it's unlikely they'd want to do that. And court fees at the employers expense. Be like Greece and Turkish immigrants, or similar open amnesty for 3 months or longer. But what do I know? Lol

And I'm still reading about some of these orders 47 made, and it's gonna be a mess. Why are we leaving the climate deal? Why must there be more drilling? Why is gender political and not just medical? Why are politics in on any medical issue, whether it's transgender care, abortion or not? How did, who a person is and how they choose to exist, become a political issue that can be regulated by law? Instead of private medical care between patient and doctor? Why aren't we more focused on education? Why aren't we more focused on why there are so many school shootings? What's wrong with DEI? Why stop it? And instead of more important matters he just pardons people that stormed the capital with violence. What?

Sorry for the rant, but yea part way through this unbelievably long list, I'm a bit sad. You stay safe too, I live in a blue section of a red state, so it won't be too bad here (I hope). And while saying all that I know we don't have it bad here, it's certainly not the Sudan, Iran and more where conditions for women are more than dire. It just feels this is a backwards step for the land of the free.

My experience is sort of similar as i was clearly liked as a dancer and got many special parts from my teacher in dances. But as a person it seemed like she really just didn’t even want to interact with me at all. I had 3 other girls in my group and she was obsessed with them, like they were all close friends. Perhaps it was because they were older idk, also to note i was the youngest out of everyone.

I was so so so kind and constantly praising this teacher for how great she was. When i was 13, i had my first duet with another girl, 1 out of the 3 of those girls. Ill never forget when i came off stage she hugged her but not me, and this girl also had the support of her parents but my parents werent there, my heart was broken. In general i started hating dance because this teacher’s choreography was subpar, like really really bad (sorry not sorry 😭). And we were set up to fail.

I hated how she acted and treated them in class, i felt invisible, my duet rehearsals were like solo rehearsals for the other girl. She taught my class from when i was 12 to 16. So i had a long time with her and i was miserable. She clearly really never liked me at all besides my dancing, which is why its so confusing. i did nothing at all. I was very kind and very quiet.

She put a lot pressure on my entire group and would constantly yell at us and even throw things at us and to this day im like how tf am i supposed to do good when you’re mean and give trash choreography? My studio owner has brought her back to choreograph some comp dance for the past few years but not teach.

Literally almost everyone ive asked about how they feel about her at my studio says nice things, and i feel completely alone, besides one other dancer from my studio feels the same way as me. Im just like how do u like this girl lol?

I had quit dancing almost 2 years ago and had come back this year and i was able to perform a solo i choreographed at my recital that i dedicated to SA awareness, because i was SA’d at the beginning of this year and that solo helped me heal. This teacher had come to the recital and she was being weirdly nice to me and so a few days later i just messaged her to thank her for her kindness and opened up about what my solo was about and she gave the most basic lowkey uncaring response ever and i was just like yeah nvm. I also found out she invited those 3 students to her wedding this june and that was my final straw to just not give AF anymore

Im 19 now but it still does hurt me to this day a bit, i try to remember why would i want approval from someone like that anyway but yeah hopefully this made sense.

These types of situations are so important to speak up about in the dance world!

rambling as i struggle to put my thoughts into words so i will not be a good debate partner on this lol sorry

yumi and the nightmare painter—it was okay not my favorite i can see why people are loving it so much i just had a hard time connecting with the characters and maybe it will change with reread.

anyway i came out with similar feelings/issues towards both frugal wizard and nightmare painter. and it just boils down to not liking the main characters.

it took till the beginnings of the sanderlanche for me to really start to enjoy both books. like as all the loose threads were going together i started to enjoy it more. and most of that is because i struggled to relate and enjoy the main characters.

cause with sanderson the characters are what you fall in love with first and that helps drive you to the sanderlanche. but if i’m struggling to enjoy the characters it’s going to be a subpar book until i get to that point. idk if that makes sense to anyone else but it makes sense in my brain lol

the worldbuilding is fucking cool as shit—neon lights, floating plants etc etc. and the story itself was really cool and the ending really helped solidify the story for me. the ending made the story.

(though i would have preferred yumi not come back—sometimes you need the sad ending) (“my gf turned into the moon” “that’s rough buddy”—im just saying it would’ve been cool—and there’s cosmere/investiture theories that i am not well versed in that could have applied toward her death (like kelsiers situation but again idk enough about it to properly theorize) i just know kelsier is kinda alive and yumi could have been mostly if not all dead yknow—lil sadness if he didn’t want to go the full princess yue)

i really enjoyed design and liyun (hoid was cool too—the heavy narration is starting to bug me a bit but it was good) i just did not enjoy the main characters. they weren’t the ones driving me to the sanderlanche so it made it more difficult to fully enjoy if that makes sense.

hey im sorry this is from aaaages ago i was just scrolling through my inbox looking for something else and noticed it. the answer is not particularly that i know of bc when he does get to bring up guitar in interviews they're usually for more serious guitar magazines and stuff where he mentions the model/year etc. but on the stage left setlists from this tour his guitars were generally written with an abbreviation (S for his sheraton, JUNIOR for his lp junior etc etc), and the session was called "SESH" which is adorable and i wouldn't be surprised if they referred to her out loud as that. unfortunately that's the best i know sorry!

All the patrons in the cafe knew to keep their head down as Cassandra raged, since she could easily end their careers with the flick of a pinky. “This dress is worth more than your putrid life! What even is this? Cheap wine?” Nick positioned himself behind a table, to place a buffer between the two of them. Nick laughed a little awkwardly before saying the real answer. “Uh, fruit punch?” “Fruit punch?!” Cassandra threw her iced coffee in Nick’s face.

“What the hell? What was that for?” Nick exclaimed, in shock at her outburst.  He wiped the bitter drink from his face. This was absolutely crazy. Bananas. Coo-coo for cocoa puffs. “For fruit punch!” Cassandra grabbed a mug from a different patron and threw that as well. However, this was a for-here cup which meant that it was solid, so it smashed into the wall next to Nick. Had he not ducked, that would have a very unfortunate situation for the Bunney.

“Are you trying to kill me?!” Nick yelled, aware of his possible demise. “You killed my outfit!” “That’s not the same thing!”
