my problems w/ petekao in dbk atm (musings)

i gotta say, and i know i’m not the only one, but i’m a lil disappointed w/ the petekao story line of the new series atm... we’ve now basically had 3 separate series all based around petekao’s jealousy of other people gettin close to their boo, & it’s like... that literally seems to be all their relationship is at this point?? which is like.... not great lol...

i feel a big problem with the few thai drama’s i know of that have had sequels (so like... together with me (which in itself was a prequel of bad romance & also had a sequel lol), sotus & sotus s, what the duck (that had a sequel right/? idk i try to avoid that drama like the plague lol... anyway), love sick, etc etc) is that the writers find a formula with the main couple (so, for example, in petekao’s case it’s pete being overly jealous & over protective of kao, & kao being doting but also kinda reluctant to admit things... i’m paraphrasing and generalising but youuuuuuuuu get the idea), & then they just... run with that... for... the next... countless series... even when a significant time has past & we’re supposed to believe these characters have been in a relationship for like anywhere from 1 to 3+ years with each other...? but like they haven’t changed?? as a couple??

(btw i’m not talkin about physicality here, i.e. kisses and touches etc, but i’m purely focusing on the character’s relationship dynamic)

& like this isn’t only a problem for thai dramas, i feel a lot of romantic related shows or films that have multiple parts suffer from this (regardless of gay/straight/western/eastern/etcetc) i think the writers do this cos they think ‘oh well, fans liked it in such & such a series when the characters were like this with each other so let’s just like forget about character development and the human ability to grow & change & just keep giving them that... cos that’s what the fan’s want, right?’ 

idk lol... 

final note: i’m sure there are lots of fans who like the jealousy trope, and are happy that petekao literally havent changed as characters from kiss to kiss me again and now to dark blue kiss, but as someone who genuinely loves the characters & wants them to be happy, but also well developed & actually kinda believable (as believable as u can get in these kinda dramas lol), it’s a lil annoying lol.... idkkk... morksun & their whole story line and characterisations have been keeping me sane as i watch the new eps, i legit really like their story (hopefully it doesn’t go down hill with the rest of the series lol *sweats*), & i still have hope that petekao’s story will get more interesting?? and maybe we’ll see some character development lol?? hopefully????????
