𝓝ote this is a sneak-peak of the actual story, this is the first story I’ve ever posted on tumblr so if you see anything that I can improve, please let me know. I want the first story I post to be good enough for me to be motivated to keep writing!
This is purely fiction and is not meant to interpret how the idols act in real life!
,, not proofread + english is not my first language ! ೃ⁀➷
Edit: this fic will be dropped, I've lost full motivation for it and it doesn't really fit what I want to write in the future. Sorry.
Flashing lights, loud music and the smell of sweaty bodies. That’s what most clubs look like, and this one was no different.
It was Ryujins 19th birthday, and she wanted to celebrate it with just her closest friends and her girlfriend. That’s why Y/N agreed to it in the first place. She’s not used to social settings and spends most of her time stressing over finals, so being forced into a social setting wasn't making her any less stressed. Her and Ryujin are the complete opposite of each other and she can’t really remember how they became best friends, but somehow they did. And that’s why she’s in this position right now, pressed between strangers in a club that reeked of alcohol, dressed in a skimpy black dress that barely covered her up.
“Hey Y/N, get me another drink will ya’!” Ryujin shouted and laughed, fully intoxicated. “I don’t really think that’s a good idea Ryu” I said, a little worried about her condition “you’ve had a lot already” I tell her, hoping she would just give up “It’s fineee, I’m fineee, trust!” She laughed and grabbed another beer. I tried to stop her but she was too fast. I just gave up and sighed, trying to reason with her when she’s drunk is like trying to argue with a wall “You’re gonna throw up later I’ll tell you that.” I grabbed my lighter and walked outside for a smoke, leaving her to Yeji, her girlfriend. I love Ryujin, but sometimes she can be a handful to look after.
I walk out on the balcony, leaning against the rack and admire the glowing night sky, letting the cold wind run over my body. It’s a relaxing moment until I hear someone approaching and I assume it’s either Ryujin or Yeji, until they lean against the rack beside me. Build too big to be either of them, I look over in their direction. A tall, hot guy with glasses stands there. He lights a cigarette and looks over to me. I forgot how to breathe for a moment, embarrassed, I looked away slightly. When I look back to see if he’s still there, we make eye contact. He’s close enough that I can feel the heat roaming around him. And I can't tell if it’s the embarrassment or the close contact with the man that makes my cheeks heat up, but I’d rather not find out.
I take a look at the man in front of me, scanning him up and down. Dressed in a suit too fine to be worn at a basic club, hair styled in a way that makes it look almost untouched, and his eyes, his eyes were so easy to get lost in. I snap out of it when I realize I’d been staring for a while, a slight smirk on the man's lips as he leans down to my level.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer”

☆ kwon jae sung x fem!reader
summary:
You go out to a bar with your team and kwon sees an opportunity.
OR reader teaches kwon a few moves
notes:
I can't dance so I did my best describe it.
Also, if you are the person who asked me to write a fic of the reader getting hurt. I accidentally deleted your request, but that is something that i'm working on a little bit.
part one // prev part
1.1k written by:
S A R A H
You sat with Sam and Robby a table away from Dimitri and Eli. The bar buzzed with music and chatter, but you were more focused on your water (you didn’t like drinking, same as Robby, and pop was off-limits during the season—you were strict about keeping your body in peak condition). Sam and Robby were deep in conversation about Tory and Miguel, their voices low but laced with tension.
“ I hope Carmen is okay.” Robby said idly, spinning his straw in his glass “ Did you talk to Miguel before they left?”
Sam shugs, “ for like thirty seconds. We were excited to go exploring but now…”
You nudged your twin with an elbow. “ You feel any better?”
He scoffed, his lips curling into a humorless smile. “ No, honestly I'm actually thinking of adding rum to this coke.”
Sam smiled a little thinking he was kidding. “ Yeah right you don't drink.”
Robby’s gaze dropped to his drink, his fingers tightening around the glass. “ might be the time to start, I've been screwing everything up since Tory put us on break and it's not even affecting her.”
“ Like salt on an open cut.”
“ Yeah, she's fighting better than ever.”
Sam leaned forward letting her arms rest on the table. “ Tory chose the other side and I feel terrible for her but we can't keep letting her get in our heads like this. We just have to accept she's against us.”
You huffed, rolling your eyes. “ You guys are acting like we're at war, she's not against us.” You said with a shake of your head. “ She picked a different team because she was vulnerable, and a master manipulator took advantage of that. It’s not that simple. You of all people know that, you were talking about it last night.”
Sam stared over your shoulders without replying, her facing falling. “ I'm gonna get some air.” She said getting up.
Both you and Robby turned confused following her gaze to the door. That’s when you saw them—Tory, Kwon, and a few of their teammates walking in, looking every bit like they owned the place.
Kwon stared at you and gave you a little nod. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he made his way across the bar.
Your back straightened unconsciously, and you had to put your hands in your lap to stop yourself from messing with your hair.
Kwon stopped beside you, his smirk growing wider. “ Hey,” he said smoothly, his eyes locking with yours. “ Dance with me?”
Before you could say anything, Robby’s chair scraped back as he stood abruptly, squaring his shoulders. “ She’s not interested.”
Kwon barely glanced at Robby, he only had eyes for you. “ I’m pretty sure she can speak for herself, man.”
“ Robby cool off, it's fine.” You said, trying to defuse the situation.
Robby frowned, his jaw tight, but he didn’t say anything else.
“What do you say?” Kwon asked, his voice low enough that it felt like the rest of the room disappeared.
You hesitated, glancing at Robby, who was still standing stiffly. Then you looked back at Kwon.
“ Okay,” you said, taking his hand.
Kwon’s smirk turned into a genuine smile as he led you to the small dance floor at the center of the bar. “ I didn’t think you’d say yes.”
“ Why?” You looked up at him.
“ You don’t like disappointing your team.” He huffed.
“ One dance won’t kill them.”
“ Just one?” He teased, slipping an arm around your waist. “ I plan to keep you here all night.”
You felt your cheeks get warm, but put an arm around his neck anyway. “ One,” you repeated, though your lips twitched into a smile.
“ Counter offer, ten and a kiss.” He said with a sly grin.
Your jaw dropped, and your eyes went wide. “ Damn you got a drink in you already?”
“ Nah don’t drink in season.”
“ That right?”
He hummed swaying with you to the beat. “ That’s right.”
“ Five and I teach you how to two-step and a shoulder dip.”
“ Deal.” He said almost before you could finish talking. “ Sounds like you know your stuff.”
“ My mom used to take me and Robby to bars all the time, I learned a few things.” You took both his hands and held them up by your sides. “ A two step is easy, all you do is step forward with your left foot, then follow with your right foot. Then go back, right foot first and repeat.”
“ Just go back and fourth?”
“ Yep, super simple.”
So that’s what you did, a back and forth two step until he seemed to get bored and spinning you. “ Alright now show me the other one.”
“ Okay,” you laughed. “ First thing, take my hand,” he did. “ Now you're going to spin me out, away from you.”
He did as told, spinning you out and pulling you back in, “ Like that?” He asked.
“ Just like that,” You encouraged. “ But when you pull me back, spin me in twice, so towards your body.”
He did both steps again.
“ Perfect next cross your arm over and slide while I drag my hand around your back.” You explained while showing the moves you were talking about. “ Now I do a half spin so my back is facing you and I am going to fall.”
“ A trust fall?”
“ Yes. There is more but I don’t think your ready to carry me on your shoulders.”
He scoffed playfully, “ I can, promise.”
“ Swear you won’t drop me?”
“ Yes.” He says, “ what’s the saying?”
“ Cross my heart?”
“ And hope to die, yes that one.”
“ Okay in that case, grab my waist.” He did. “ I’m going to jump onto your shoulders, on three ready?”
“ Yes.” He effortlessly picked you up, and ducked his head under your spit legs.
“ Next I’m going to swing my left leg around and you are going to keep hold of my right, when I do that my body will fall into your arms while I keep an arm around the back of your neck to support you. When we both are standing again you will spin me one more time with the hand you have around my thigh. Got it.”
“ Understood.” He yelled back over the music.
“ Ready?”
“ Yep.” He confirmed.
You did everything you said you were going to, albeit a little clumsy, with it being his first time, but at least he didn’t drop you like the guy who taught you did. He was spotting Robby, who was holding you, the two of you were only ten and thought it’d be a cool trick to show mom. Instead you got your first concussion, and Robby broke his nose when he fell face first into the floor.
Kwon steadied you as you spin back to him, his arm loosely draped around your waist. His grin was wide and infectious, “ real speed this time?”
He didn’t wait for your answer before he spun you out and back in while you giggled.

maybe amelia hadn’t been too on the nose with her last song. she needed him to understand that she was done with him, for good. she wasn’t going to go back to him, not that they had ever been anything for her to go back too. amelia’s schoolgirl crush had been crushed when had drunkenly exclaimed ‘you’re an idiot if you ever think i’m going to love you back. you’re my best mate’s sister, that’s all you’ll ever be to me.’ what was it that they said of drunken words? they were sober thoughts, and as much as it hurt to admit it, she was an idiot for falling for him. but there was no reason for him to be so cruel.
perhaps the part that hurt the most was that he remembered none of his cruel words. to him everything between them was fine, and it pained her that he couldn’t take a hint, he just couldn’t take a hint that she wanted nothing to with him. it also didn’t help that right after that day he announced he had a girlfriend he had been seeing for over 6 months. she had been the other woman, not physically but emotionally, and that was just as bad.
she jumped as her phone rang, the familiar facetime tune breaking her out of her trance. lando’s joyful face stared back at her and she felt horrible for having missed the race. but in her defense she had been too tired to wake up early enough to watch it. she felt horrible but she hoped lando would understand, it’s not like she was breaking a promise.
slowly she reached for her phone to answer, and lando began screaming in joy. amelia flinched at his volume and noticed he was surrounded by other people, oscar being one of them, she could’ve sworn she saw lewis hamilton there too.
“p2!” lando shouted, “i got p2!”
amelia squealed, “congrats! that’s amazing!”
“oscar got p4! we’re literally on top of the world right now!”
“and congrats to koala too,” she smiled. oscar waved at her before someone snatched the phone from lando’s grip. amelia stopped herself from gasping at the sight of daniel ricciardo.
daniel smiled brightly at her, “you must be amelia, i’m daniel. anyways, we’re all dying to know is taylor dating fernando? have you heard anything?”
amelia laughed, “no, i haven’t heard anything. you'll be the first to know if i learn anything."
"sick," daniel claimed, "i like you baby holland."
daniel flipped the camera around to lando, the boy was laid on the floor, being crushed by alex albon and george russell who were cheering him on loudly. daniel turned the camera back around to him, "is that you're new best friend?"
"sadly, he is," amelia said.
"well baby holland, i'll let you go. i'm sure you're a very busy woman."
"i am," amelia agreed, "i'm currently in the studio."
"STUDIO?!" lando exclaimed, "new music? when? get off alex!" lando pushed alex off him as the brunette laughed loudly. lando took his phone from daniel, "when? tell me amelia!"
amelia simply smiled mischievously at him, "oh look, i have to go walk my fish!"
"amelia!" lando shouted as daniel's laughter could be heard as she hung up. her heart warmed knowing lando supported whole-heartedly. his friendship meant so much to her, and she was glad she had dragged herself out of bed the day before
lando norris amelia holland! how dare you do this to me.
oscar piastri who broke your heart? seriously.
lando norris AMELIA! ANSWER THE TEXTS!
oscar piastri please answer, he's been screaming the grudge. i have no clue how he even memorized the lyrics already.
lando norris added one person
lando norris DANIEL! GET HER TO ANSWER THE PHONE! SHE LIKES YOU!
daniel ricciardo baby holland! c'mon! he's getting impatient.
amelia holland sorry, tom and his friend were being annoying.
lando norris what friend?
amelia holland harrison.
oscar piastri i'm sensing some tension with harrison.
lando norris OH MY GOD! HE'S THE INSPIRATION!
oscar piastri oh.
oscar piastri you fell in love with your brother's best friend.
amelia holland i had a crush on him.
daniel ricciardo well fuck harrison.
daniel ricciardo actually don't fuck harrison. but you know what i mean
lando norris TELL ME YOUR LOVE SONGS WEREN'T ABOUT HIM. AMELIA I'M BEGGING!
amelia holland they weren't about him?
daniel ricciardo we're finding you a new muse. i'm making it my mission.
you good?
peachy.
bullshit but okay.
i'm fine oscar. i swear.
you called me oscar, that's never happened. what happened to kangaroo? koala? pastry boy?
maybe i'm not fine. how am i supposed to be fine when the dickhead won't understand that i want nothing to do with him? he strung me along for months making me think that one day we could be something more. so i start releasing songs and he still won't get it.
have you i don't know, tried talking to him?
jeez oscar why didn't i think of that? the only time he ever seems to speak to me is when we're in a group setting. he has a girlfriend.
amelia please tell me he didn't.
cheat on his girlfriend with me? not physically. but emotionally yes.
that guy is a piece of work.
he wasn't always like this.
you’re not seriously defending the guy who cheated on his girlfriend?
i’m defending the guy i used to know. the harrison who was sweet and kind to me. he snuck me candy when my mum didn't allow me to have any. he took me to the movies when my brothers didn't want to hang out with me.
okay. whatever.
why are you getting mad at me?
i’m not mad. i just-
forget it. i have to go.
lando’s insisting i follow him to the club to celebrate
have fun.
i'm sorry
i think i like her...
¡leclerc-s speaks! this series was always meant to be a short series so if it seems like it's a little fast paced, i'm sorry. but i am also doing a lot of time jumps, so realistically it's not moving that fast.

a party and kisses at midnight - a new years modern!batboys drabble. 🎀🪩
(last one for this year, my lovelies, as a little thank you. I can't even describe how happy you all make my lil heart by adoring these silly little drabbles and this AU as much as I do!! love you all to bits!!! *mwah*)
"Why is it so fucking cooold..." Feyre's teeth were chattering as she hopped up and down on the spot, her breath a white cloud in the air.
"Cause it's winter,", Mor supplied, very helpfully, her voice slightly muffled from where her top half had disappeared into the trunk of her car. I snorted softly, shivering against the harsh cold wind brushing against my legs as I shifted from one foot to the other, clutching the three bottles with glittery booze Mor had handed me against my chest.
"And he really does this every year?" Feyre crunched her nose as she looked up towards the lit windows on the third flow, the star in my window shining in the dark.
"Yeah." Mor resurfaced, hair slightly tousled but triumphantly holding the bottle that had decided to roll into the depths of her trunk after she had taken a rather sharp curve. "Last year, he actually threw the party at his dad's mansion, because he was out of town and Rhys had the sudden urge to be rebellious. It was a huge thing." She frowned. "How did you two miss that; the whole campus didn't talk about anything else for weeks."
I shrugged as she plucked a bottle out of my arms, tightening my freezing fingers. "We both spent Christmas at home, and then at New Years, we holed up in Feyre's apartment. We were in a severe food coma by midnight and didn't get out of bed before the next evening."
Feyre sighed happily, staring dramatically up into the sky. "The good old times."
I snorted and sent her a wide grin. "C'mon, you love the idea of an actual New Years party for a change." I raised my brows. "Rhys definitely put more effort into food than we usually do; he ordered some super fancy food and did some stuff himself, he basically spent the whole of yesterday in the kitchen and wouldn't let anyone peak."
"Also the view from the balcony is amazing at midnight!" Mor stretched to close the trunk of her car. "You can see all the fireworks from the neighborhood, and the ones down at the river."
"Why don't we go and see them there?" Feyre pouted.
"Because a) it's gonna be packed with severely drunk people, and b) like you just mentioned,", I climbed onto the sidewalk, bumping into her side and widening my eyes dramatically, "it's coooold!"
Feyre snickered. "Fuck off."
"In case it gets too busy; I locked my room so there are no hook ups on my clean sheets, we can hole up in there." I pushed open the front door with my shoulder. The stairwell was warm, and I could hear music vibrating from the third floor.
"Yeah, because your sheets are so innocent." Mor grinned when I tried to kick at her, easily dodging my heel and raising her brows. "From what I've heard, your sheets have seen their fair share of not so clean action -"
"Oh, fuck you,", I growled over Feyre's cackling, pressing my elbow into her back to keep her from tipping over backwards while trying to fight the heat in my cheeks and the grin pushing onto my face. Mor snickered and blew me a kiss, and I flipped her off as best as I could with my arms full before beginning to push Feyre towards the stairs.
"Seriously, I always wondered; how is Azriel in the bedroom -"
"Mor, shut up!", Feyre and I called in unison, Feyre laughing so hard, I had to shove her up the stairs. Shrugging, Mor followed, flashing me a grin.
"Just curious, you know; I've heard he's quite skilled, and I mean, it makes sense, the quiet ones are usually the ones who go hardest -"
"Oh my God." I dropped my forehead against Feyre's back as she stopped to hold onto the banister, giggling so violently, she started hiccuping.
"Okay, fine, I'll stop." Mor grinned. "But only because I don't want Feyre to fall down the stairs before she can get her midnight kiss from Rhys."
My best friend stopped laughing abruptly, and it was my turn to snort and cackle.
Feyre's cheeks glowed pink as she glared at Mor. "I don't -"
"Sure." Mor smirked and slipped past us, sending her a wink before sauntering up the stairs. Feyre glowered at her back, beginning to stomp after her, and giggling, I followed after both of them.
Up on the third floor, the music and noise made the floor vibrate.
"How do the neighbours don't complain every year?" Feyre widened her eyes slightly, readjusting the packages of snacks she was balancing in her arms with her chin.
"Probably used to the boys being loud." I smirked.
"I think Rhys always invites the people right below you, and the ones down on the first floor usually spend New Years somewhere else, so they don't really got anything to complain about." Mor knocked her elbow against the door. "And the old folks next door wouldn't even hear a whole football team tap dancing up the stairs, so -"
Feyre and I started giggling, and Mor grinned before widening her eyes when someone pulled the door open. "Thank God, I'm starving."
Following Feyre into the hall, I sighed happily at the warmth enveloping me as I kicked the door shut. Feyre peeled off her jacket before taking one of the bottles out of my arms, and I slipped out of my coat, squeezing it onto the overflowing coat hanger next to the door.
There were people filling the hall, the kitchen and crowding the living room; coworkers of Cassian's and friends of the boys from the gym, some of the guys Rhys played basketball with, people from uni and classes and a whole lot I didn't know. It was loud and full and smelled of stale air, perfume and food.
Mor, Feyre and I slipped past kitchen, where the Christmas decorations were still up and the counter had been transformed into a bar, with flashing lights, fancy glasses and streamers. Putting the glittering booze down, I followed after the other two into the living room. The tree was glittering, lametta draped over the branches after Cassian and I had taken down all the baubles this afternoon. Golden streamers were hanging over the shelves, ceilings and windows, along with big floating balloons. Cassian almost ran into one when he spotted us, starting to grin widely.
"Hey!" He ducked under some streamers and pressed kisses to Mor's and Feyre's cheeks, the latter clearly not used to his teddy bear behavior yet, before slinging an arm around my waist and lifting me off the ground slightly in a tight hug. When he let me slip to the ground again, he sent me a shit-eating smirk. "Look at you; you know, if Az isn't around at midnight, I'd totally -"
I kicked his shin the same moment someone behind me snorted, and as Cassian winced, an arm was dropped over my shoulders.
"If you think Az is not gonna make sure he gets his midnight kiss, you've inhaled too much glitter." Rhys' lazy smirk was audible in his voice when he leaned down his head a little. I pressed a kiss onto his offered cheek and called over the noise: "Where is he?"
Rhys opened his mouth before closing it again and smirking, nodding over my head, and turning around, I followed his gaze.
My heart dipped and swerved, and my breath hitched in my throat when over the heads of the crowd, I found golden amber eyes piercing mine.
Azriel was leaning against the wall next to the fireplace. His shoulders strained against his simple black t-shirt, tattoos scattered over his arms, his dark hair tousled. He looked glowering as usual, not paying any attention to the people bustling around him, but some of his bored scowl slipped away as his eyes dragged over mine. Then he pushed off the wall and started moving through the crowd, towards us, people getting out of his way quickly. But he didn't even spare them a glance, just kept watching me, something warm and deep and twinkling growing in his eyes that caused my heart to begin fluttering quickly.
Rhys slid his arm from my shoulder and moved past me to greet Mor and Feyre, sending the latter a grin that caused her cheeks to grow pink even as she huffed, and Azriel pushed past him. Something rose into my throat as I tipped my head back to look up at him, parting my lips to drop a teasing remark about his outfit that didn't deviate from his usual fits in the slightest - but before I could even make a sound, Azriel dipped his head and kissed me.
A small sound broke from my chest at the firm press of his lips, my breath catching in my throat when I felt his hand slide up to my neck, and my heart swelled and pulsed under my ribs as my fingers curled into the soft cotton of Azriel's t-shirt and my knees turned to jello.
Azriel's lips curved upwards slightly against mine. I felt his tall, solid body press against mine, his calloused thumb gently tracing the line of my throat. Then Azriel slowly broke the kiss, his nose gently nudging mine as he pulled back his head just a little to stare down at me, his eyes golden in the warm pulsing lights. There was the slightest trace of a crease in his cheek, curtesy of a small smirk as he leaned down again to press a light kiss onto the corner of my lips.
"Hi." His deep voice vibrated through me, low and smooth, and I managed a breathless "Hello." that caused the crease in his cheek to deepen as he broke into a grin that was shit-eating enough to rival the one Cassian usually was sporting. I quickly pinched his side, no give to his muscles when he winced a little and glared at me.
"Hey, Az."
Cassian probably had a sixth sense for someone just remotely thinking of him, because he was smirking when Azriel straightened and turned enough so that I could peak past him, just in time to see the twinkle in Cassian's eyes when he sent me a light wink.
"I was just saying - Y/N looks too pretty to not be kissed at midnight; I'd volunteer if -"
Azriel scowled darkly, and I snorted a laugh and flipped Cassian the bird. He pretended to catch it, sending back a kiss and grinning widely, and Azriel rolled his eyes and turned back towards me with a shake of his head, but there was a light twinkle in his iris when he gently pushed me past him towards one of the armchairs.
"Okay, only fifteen minutes til midnight!" Rhys' loud voice echoed through the apartment, answered by whoops and cheers, and I grinned into my drink when I felt Azriel's chest vibrate with a huff.
I was tucked into his side in one of the armchairs, my legs draped over his lap and dangling over one of the armrests, his arm loosely wrapped around my back. His right hand was slowly running up and down my shin, his scarred skin warm through the thin pair of thights I was wearing, his thumb brushing over my knee once in a while. Mor and Feyre were lounging on the couch a little to my left, facing us, Cassian reclined lazily next to them as he grinned when Rhys moved past the coffee table.
They had kept coming and going, but Azriel and I had spent almost all of the past three hours in the same spot. Mor had dragged me up to dance twice, and I'd only let her because it meant I could stock up on snacks on my way back to where Azriel stayed lounging lazily in the big armchair, dark eyes calm and watchful on the people laughing and mingling and talking loudly around him. Everytime I returned, his legs parted slightly, and he shifted until I had plopped back down next to him before dragging my legs over his lap and stealing some of the food or a drink I was carrying. He looked perfectly comfortable, and no one dared bothering him, the glowering looks he sent Cassian and Rhys' way whenever they got too close warning enough to anyone else.
I had huddled up with Feyre in the kitchen for a while, curled up on one corner of the couch and giggling, and got pulled into conversations with her and Mor and the boys more than once. But I was always pulled back towards Azriel and the place squeezed into his side, talking quietly over the noise, Azriel's nose brushing my hair whenever he mumbled something into my ear, his lips curving into a light smirk whenever his words sent me into a fit of giggles. When I twisted to whisper into his ear, the scent of his cologne flooded my nose, and I could feel warmth wash over me.
It felt like we were in our own little bubble, comfortably curled up in the middle of the chaos, barely even noticing the people around us whenever the others disappeared into the crowd again.
"Let's go outside so we get a good place on the balcony!" A coat was thrown at me, nearly landing on my head, and I jumped, my eyes darting up to glower at Rhys, but he just winked before tossing Azriel his jacket.
Sighing and grumbling, I laborously dug myself out of the armchair. I could feel Azriel's chest brush my back when he rose to his feet, towering over me, his calloused fingers gently pulling my hair out of the way when I slipped into my coat, then he slid into his jacket.
Wrapping the thick scarf Feyre had gifted me last Christmas around my neck, I shivered happily as I buried myself in my coat, feeling Azriel's warm fingers sliding over my palm. My heart rose when they slipped into the spaces between mine, linking them together firmly, his thumb brushing lightly over my skin. Then his biceps gently bumped into my shoulder, pushing me over to the window doors leading out onto the balcony.
The air was freezing, our breath rising in white clouds when we stepped onto the balcony. The fairy lights wrapped around the balcony were glowing in a warm golden light, just like the bushes in the huge stone pots when we huddled against the stone balustrade. Mor's teeth were chattering dramatically as she slightly swayed on the spot, and Feyre's nose was pink when she huffed at something Rhys mumbled, but I could see the way she hid a wide beaming smile in her scarf. Rhys was staring at the side of her face.
There was a gentle huff against my hair, and when I looked up over my shoulder, Azriel's chest pressed into my back, his hands sliding into my pockets to link our fingers. His eyes were on Rhys and Feyre as well, and there was a knowing twinkle in his eyes as he watched his best friend stare at mine.
Feeling my heart rise and a giddy giggle pulse under my ribs, I turned back ahead, flashing Cassian a grin over Mor's head. He winked back, his wide smile causing his cheeks to crease.
Slowly, the others joined us on the balcony and at the windows. When I heard the door down on the street, I leaned forward to look over the balustrade and saw that some people had decided to watch the fireworks of the neighbourhood from down in the garden.
Rhys kept looking on his watch, counting down the time. Azriel wrapped his arms around me, resting his chin on my head as I played with his fingers, leaning back into his solid chest and feeling something thrum against my ribs. Mor disappeared back into the flat for a minute and returned with some glasses filled with sparkling, bubbling drinks she placed on the broad balustrade in front of us. I shivered in excitement, shifting giddily in the spot as Rhys started counting down the seconds to midnight.
The people around us started joining in until everyone was counting. I felt my heart rise and flutter as a stupidly wide grin spread over my face, Mor bumping her shoulder into mine and Feyre hopping around giddily on the spot.
"Four!"
Mor giggled and leaned forward to press a smacking kiss onto my cheek before looping her arm through Cassian´s, hitting his stomach so forcefully in excitement, he actually coughed a little.
"Three!"
Feyre squeezed my arm and beamed at me, and I caught a glimpse at Rhys on her other side, staring down at her like he was trying to make a decision.
"Two!"
I breathed out and closed my eyes, feeling heat in my cheeks despite the cold and the pulsing thrum of my heart against my ribs and the warmth blooming in my chest growing bigger and bigger.
"One!"
Azriel's hands slipped out of mine, his chest pressing into my back as his arm slid around my waist and turned me around, and as everyone yelled "Happy New Year!", Azriel's hands slipped up to cradle my face, and he leaned down and kissed me.
My heart rose in a wild flutter, and I slid my hands under his coat, his chest curving into mine as Azriel kissed me, deep and heated and all-consuming, his tongue twisting with mine as a soft sound broke from his chest, and I clung to him, feeling the thrum in my chest explode like the fireworks over us in the sky, showering my body in golden glittering sparkles until it felt like I was floating, my heart rising until I couldn't breathe.
I could hear whoops and jeers all around, a little far away and like slow motion, felt Azriel's calloused fingers cradling my face and the slight shudder in his breath when his nose dragged over mine. Then he kissed me again, his hands sliding down as my arms wrapped around his neck and my body curved into his as his hands pressed against my back, and I felt something begin to pulse against my ribs.
"Happy New Year,", Azriel mumbled against my lips, his deep, hoarse voice causing a shudder to run down my spine, and I clung to him, feeling a ridiculously wide smile slowly spreading over my face.
"Happy New Year."
Azriel's nose nudged mine, and his eyes, dark and molten, pierced mine. Then he dipped his head and mumbled into my ear: "C'mon."
My breath hitched, and my heart rose into my throat when his hand slipped under my coat and pushed me past him, through the crowd towards the doors leading inside.
I could feel him in my back, towering over me as we slipped through the people cheering and toasting in the living room. Something was thrumming against my ribs, twisting in my stomach when Azriel unlocked the door to his door and I moved past him, turning and feeling my heart beginning to flutter against my ribs when Az closed the door. The lock clicked, and Azriel slid out of his jacket, stepping towards me. His warm, calloused hands slipped under my scarf, his fingers tracing up my neck as he unwrapped it slowly. Dropping it to the floor, he dipped his head, his nose brushing against mine as the noise outside grew, mixing with the muffled crashing of fireworks.
The pulsing feeling in my chest turned into a hurricane, and Azriel slipped his hands to the back of my neck and kissed me, deep and hard and unhurried. Then he pushed my coat off my shoulders and leaned down, sliding his arm under my backside and lifting me off the ground.
When an hour later, we slipped back into the living room, the bass was making the floor vibrate, people were cheering and dancing, and Cassian, lounging on the couch, hollered while Rhys whistled, but Azriel just rolled his eyes. They couldn't see the scratch marks on his shoulders beneath the crumpled material of his t-shirt, or the love bites littering my skin underneath my dress, but swollen lips and messy hair and the way Azriel's hand slipped under the seam of my dress when he pulled me into his lap were enough.
Enough for Cassian to smirk and Rhys to chuckle and for Mor to wiggle her brows when she dragged me to my feet only seconds later, pulling me with her towards Feyre, the both of them cackling. Flipping them off, I let them pull me towards the people dancing and looked over my shoulder, and my heart rose when for a second, my eyes found Azriel's through the crowd, watching me, his eyes molten and deep, swirling with something that made my breath hitch.
I blinked, then I slowly started to smile, bright and cheeky, before sending him a wink, and I saw the huffed laugh leaving him, something dipping in my stomach when I turned around with a beaming smile.
The flat stayed filled with people until well into the morning. I was pulled into the crowd again and again, and yet - no matter how long I danced with Mor and Feyre, played beer pong with Cassian or mixed drinks with Rhys that were so bad, he declared us unfit to ever to do it again - I always ended back in the corner of the couch, with the scent of cedar and darkness filling my lungs, an arm wrapped around me and a deep, low voice mumbling into my ear, light kisses pressed against my neck and a scarred hand wrapped around my knee.
And by the time Mor and Feyre crashed in my bed and Cassian had dozed off on the couch and Rhys let the door fall shut behind the last people, groaning happily, I was already fast asleep, wearing only a t-shirt that smelled like home, curled up against a warm, solid chest, leg thrown over a bare hip and nose pressed into warm skin as Azriel slid his arms tighter around me, dragging me up and further into his body as his tall form curled around me and he buried his face in the crook of my neck.

Forever home
Melissa Schemmenti x reader
Warning: hurt, lots of crying, yelling, throwing things, miscommunication, insecurities, a few swear words, fluff at like the veeeerrrrry end
A/n: I'm sorry if I forgot any warnings, I didn't proof read, I literally had this idea off of like a spurr and just started going
"You tanked Janine! Took the whole school with you! It was impressive." Melissa poked at the younger teacher. Not knowing you were walking out the building.
"Leave the poor girl alone, she tried to help." You stood behind the red head. "Janine I think you made a choice and it didn't give you what you wanted, but it's nice that you care so much." You didn't look at the two, focusing on your class before you threw a water balloon at one kid.
Your class lit up and you took the to the open park across the street. Missing the rest of the conversation held between the two.
Today you wore a white top, not really planning to be playing in water today. So while your class left, you were in your classroom. Soaked to the bone.
The knock on your door made you head snap up. "Oh! Hey Janine?" You flashed a smile. "What can I do for ya?"
"I just wanted to say thank you. For the words you said earlier. You really had my back. And you know how Melissa is." She stood cautiously by your door.
You furrowed your brows, "Janine why are you just standing by the door? You're free to come in more. Hey did you eat today?"
"Im fine I was just stopping by. And I was gonna wait...but I should eat now since I'm hungry." She nodded like it was some new discovery.
"Well it's me and Melissa, but I also know Gregory is going out if you wanna go with him. You wont get bullied by Melissa." You joked. Still drying out your shirt.
Janine watched for a second. "You and Melissa? What's that all about?" Her curiosity peaked. "Also I have an extra shirt if you wanna change?"
"No I'm good, I have to go home to change anyways. And me and Melissa? We're just friends I guess." You played it down. "She was the teacher I began with. She made me like it here a lot and then during the pandemic, she let me come stay with her and her husband. I usually had headphones playing loud music so they had time together. She got mad at me for it a lot cause I never came up for dinner."
"You lived with her?! How did you manage?" Janine was baffled by the new found information. "Does that make you like the second person who knows so much about her? After Barb?"
You shrugged and didn't see harm in talking about the past a bit. "She gives you a hard time cause your new."
"Ok but that doesn't explain how you went from her student teacher to living with her?" Janine pushed. She needed to know what was the reason for the favoritism.
"Are you ready?" Melissa's voice came from the door way. Ending the conversation entirely. The 2nd grade teacher in front of you frowned at the nasty look the older gave. "Still can't believe you tanked. Like the whole school Janine. The. Whole. School."
"Melissa," You warned lowly. Getting into a short staring match with her. Which you won with a smile. "I have to run home and change, but then I'll be there for dinner."
"Whatever." She scoffed and walked away.
You had to take a deep breath before having to deal with her. "Janine, just don't listen to her. She's clearly just upset you took whatever fish she had in the fridge. She'll find something new Monday. Have a good weekend." You led her out the room.
Once you got home, you could find no sight of Melissa. No car in the driveway, no opened wine, nothing. You tried to call her, but got the voicemail. Five times. You looked for her location, but got her at the school.
With one last call, you changed and just went to the restaurant. Sitting at the table while dressed in your best. But after waiting for half an hour, you decided to just go home. Tipping the waiter for putting up with you and holding up a table.
You felt embarrassed. There was also anger and fury in you. You called Melissa while on your way home, leaving a voicemail. Going on about how when she's ready to pull her head out her ass and talk to you, you'd be ready.
What you didn't expect was that to lead into tomorrow.
Staurday.
You woke up in a bed alone. It had been years since this feeling. You groaned in frustration and went looking through the house. Not any trace. No note. No car. Nothing.
You let it play out, maybe she just went out early and would be back before noon. Constantly checking your phone to see if anything would come from her.
By five you were at Barbs in tears. You explained you hadn't seen her for twenty-four hours now. How you got nothing from her but she left Friday with a scoff.
That night you stayed at the kindergarten teachers house. Her and Gerald being the nicest people to you while in such a state.
Barbra had watched you two fall in love. The first year you two worked together, she knew you were the one. So seeing you crying over such a thing hurt her. It enraged her that her friend could do such a thing.
That night, before dinner, Barb tried calling Melissa. Getting the voicemail, and she wasn't going to call back. She explained calmly but with so much venom about the harm she's caused. How you can sobbing to her.
"Why don't you come eat with us? Get something in you?" She offered to your lifeless body. You were so numb you couldn't. You just shook your head. "Y/n, sweetheart, please. I know it hurts but you have to get something in you."
"What if she never comes back?" You whispered out. "I don't know what I did. I...I don't know how to control this. I was angry. So so angry at her for standing me up. But now I just I want her home. But what if she doesn't come home?"
Barbra hugged you. She held you on to you tight. Feeling you tremble in her embrace. She held you until your cries subsided. Holding you even through uneven breathing and the soft sniffling. Scared that if she let go, you'd think you had no one.
"Come on, we can make plates and eat on the couch tonight. Watch your favorite?" She offered. Seeing the smallest sparkle in your eyes. "I'll make you a small plate, and if you want more, you can grab more."
You nodded and mumbled a thank you. Slowly trying to find The Devil wears Prada.
Sunday.
You woke up on the couch. Frowning that you still had no sign of Melissa. You cleaned up your stay and wrote Barbra a note thanking her for everything and saying you'll see her Monday.
On your drive back you stopped at the store. Desperate to find something to distract you for another day.
You picked up a Lego set, one that you didn't need but knew it would take your entire day.
Driving home, you had a large pool of hope to see her car. It hurt you to know that you were getting hopeful for the worst. And then it hurt when you didn't see the red truck. That red truck that you had star gazing dates in. That red truck that you've made out in. That red truck. Tears streamed down your face when you got inside.
They kept falling as you showered and changed. You wore one of her sweatshirts and a pair of shorts. Crew socks protecting you from the cold floors. They felt colder than normal. The whole house did.
It was empty.
Your Sunday was filled with movies, legos, and multiple water bottles. Your phone next to you as you desperately awaited a call or a text.
Monday.
You woke up to rustling. "Mel?" You quietly called. Voice being dry and hoarse from sobbing yourself to sleep. You sat up and rubbed your eyes. "Melissa?" There was no one, it was still dark in the room. The tv being the only light.
"I'm sorry, but it's just me. You weren't answering my text about if you were awake." Barbra's voice came through the dark.
You stayed silent as your lip trembled. Tears rolled down your face. "I...Barb." Was all you could say. She nodded and walked over. Pulling you from the bed and hugging you.
"Why don't you get ready and I'll drive you to work today?" She held your face, her thumbs wiping your tears away. "We can even stop for breakfast."
You nodded and got ready. Not putting much effort in, and everyone knew when you walked in the morning.
Your hair was freely down and you were in jeans. But you hardly wore jeans unless it was Wednesday or Friday. And the button up that belonged to Melissa was untucked. Your socks didn't match. You had your glasses on and hardly any makeup.
You moved in silence while in the lounge. Head held down and picking at your nails until the coffee was done. You took it straight and walked silently to your class. Not coming out until you had to print your papers for the day.
Ten minutes before she's counted late. You counted those second that made up the time. Once the kids came in and she didn't, you rushed back with your papers holding in your tears.
You sent her one simple text. Turning off your phone for the morning and masking everything for your kids.
Thankful that gym and lunch was back to back. Giving you an hour and a half or so to cry. It was only three minutes into that time before Barbra was comforting you again.
You had cried so hard that you had to throw up. You were surprised by yourself today. You've never cried this hard. Never. And now you were dry heaving.
Barbra was leading you down with your head buried in her side. You could hear her say something, but you couldn't bear look at who she said it to.
You knew who it was, especially went you felt your heart get pulled back. You wanted to run to her. To cry into her knowing she was safe and she was here. Yet, you couldn't. You just let Barbra walk you to Ava. Leaving you with her.
Ava, when she cares, she get serious. And seeing you, one of her more valued workers, made her serious.
She held you for the rest of the time you had. Letting you cry into her shirt. She didn't care you were soaking it with sadness, she just wanted you ok.
Once your time was up, you wiped your face. Giving a final hug to your boss before trudging to the lunch room.
When you opened the door, your heart wanted to burst. The overwhelming emotions seeing her talking to your class. You mustered it all up, ignoring her entirely as you collected your class.
On the verge of tears when your hand brushes against hers. A shaky breath left your body when it happened.
The rest of the day you stayed in your class. Feeling relieved when your kids left and it was just you.
A few tears fell out your eyes as you packed up. Taking in your silence as you left the building. You didn't stop and talk to anyone. Just walked out to your...Barbra.
You instantly spun in your feet, ready to head back but there she was. Not Barb, no Melissa. You wiped away the tears that started falling faster. "Shit," You whispered in annoyance. Making a beeline to the eldest teacher
Barb was expecting you. But not with this many tears. "You know you can't avoid her forever. She's hurting just as much as you are."
You nodded, knowing she was right. "It just hurts to see her after being completely ignored. I just...I couldn't even figure it out."
"Well, I'll drive you home." She knew you didn't want to get into it. She knew most of it already anyways.
When you got home, there was no truck again. Barbra asked if you were going to be ok and you had to be. You couldn't keep her forever so you just nodded.
When you got in, you poured a glass of wine and changed. Balling up on the couch and watching another movie.
Waiting for that door to open again. Needing her walk through the door tonight. If she doesn't you might died.
Tuesday.
You sat in the teachers lounge this morning. Not letting tears get you today.
"Oh! Y/n! Its good to see you! Where were you yesterday?" Janine came in, a bright smile on her face.
You hummed, "busy morning. I got nothing done over the weekend." The lie fell from you with ease. "And its good to see you as well Janine."
Everyone else began to fill in. And you could sense when Mel came in. You could sense her any day.
The morning was quiet with you. You didn't sit next to Melissa, instead you sat next to Janine. Listening to her watch videos for the wish list.
"Janine, I swear if I hear one more preppy video," Melissa turned in her chair. "You should put a pair of headphones on that list."
You gave a quiet scoff. "Janine, I wouldn't stress it. I think it's adorable how you're making a video for your classroom needs."
Melissa looked at you next, right before turning while shaking her head. "Well maybe you should just date Janine." She whispered so quiet only Barb heard it, and you could tell it.
"Melissa!" Barbra scolded, never seeing such a side of her friend. Her brown eyes quickly jumped to you. "Y/n..."
"No. If she wants to be immature and childish, the so fucking be it." You collected everything and rushed out. Tears burning in your eyes.
The rest of the day you avoided everyone. Not wanting to give into the tears that begged to spill. You were tired of crying. Tired of being tired.
The woman you've been with for the past five years is suddenly someone you've never met. You've met jealous Melissa, and this was not that green monster.
That night you stayed up. You expected her to come home tonight. After what happened you expected her to. But she didn't.
It hurt. It burned. It shattered. You couldn't understand what the hell was happening. So you called her. Not getting any answer, but you laid it out in the voicemail. The emotions ripping at you.
Wednesday.
You didn't go to school. You stayed home and sulked. Crying the entire morning. Only stopping for an hour or so to drink water. Just to cry it all out again.
It was a repeating pattern with it. That was all your day was. You couldn't believe you were crying this hard for someone.
Yet, it'd be terrible if you weren't crying over her. You spent the past five years with her. Even though it wasn't official till last year though.
You were with her through everything, and now she's just throwing you away.
That night you stared at yourself in the mirror. First silently, then after an hour, you screamed. You screamed so loud you heard dogs start barking from streets down.
Thursday.
Tomorrow would mark a week of whatever is happening. Not...that anyone was keeping track or anything.
You went to school and just kept to yourself. It was a you day where you talked to nobody. You hardly talked to your students.
You gave them papers of what they knew to just do extra practice and did your own thing.
And at night you did what you did for what seems like a month, sat with a glass of wine waiting.
Friday.
A week. A week if not talking to her. A week without a text. A week without a call. A week of constant tears. A week of hurting.
You walked into your classroom and see a box. A familiar box that you adore so much. There was a blue sticky note on top.
Your heart thumped loudly. Each step was a louder thump.
You read the note and a small smile tugged at your lips. But then you let the pain she cause catch up to you today.
You went through your day, a bit more on edge. A bit meaning you were shaking the entire day since reading the note.
By the time you were home, you were downing water. Trying to calm the nerves that we're eating you alive. They took over your body and you felt cold and clammy.
The door opened. You wanted to throw up everything. You wanted to be eaten alive by the floor. To be abducted by aliens. Ran over by a train. Honestly anything to not be here.
"Hun?" A soft voice called in. She walked further into the house. And when you laid eyes on her, you couldn't.
The mixture of rage and sadness forcing tears out. You began yelling. It didn't stop, you just kept yelling. Screaming things you didn't know you wanted to say. You stepped closer and closer and once you were close and she stared at you, she looked shocked to think you could say such, and it made you even more mad.
You threw your hands up and kept screaming. You began throwing objects, being conscious of what you had. Nothing was breaking to satisfy you.
You grabbed your wine glass, note it still had a bit of wine, and threw it at her. Instantly shutting up when it fell to the ground where she used to be standing. You were thankful she moved, but the feeling that glass had made you pant.
"I know you're upset," she began. But it didn't go long because you kept going. You laid it on to her heavy. You've never yelled at someone like this before.
You plopped down when you were for sure done. Watching her with puffy eyes.
She began to talk. And as she went on, you still didn't hear her reasoning. It was just a long apology of how she knew she was wrong.
"Please, I'm sorry." She looked at you longingly.
You shook your head. "You don't get you just apologize and not give me a reason. You left me for a week without saying a word. You stood me up at dinner Mel. What did I do?" You croaked.
Melissa's eyes went wide and she rushed to crouch in front of you. Holding your face and wiping away tears.
"Honey none of this. And I absolutely mean none of this, was your fault. I...I let my insecurities get me. On Friday when you were defending Janine and then talking to her alone," she got out quietly. The fear of you looking at her differently feasting on her.
You could only begin crying. You slipped off the couch into her arms. Sobbing so heavily. Melissa wrapped her arms and held you tightly. Even when you tried hitting her chest and pull away. She could only apologize at you.
Tears of her own showering your head. Neither one of you able to part. You not wanting her to disappear ever again, and her not wanting to see you pained the way you are.
It was well past midnight when you came through again. Stirring around trying to determine where you were.
In your bed with a bonding like grip on you. You couldn't move but you moved enough to wake up Melissa.
"Mel..." you softly spoke. Grabbing at her hands to loosen them. Only making them tighten around you.
"No..." she grumbled. "I can't let go of you."
"Melly? I'm not asking you to let go of me, I'm asking you to just let go of me." You pulled at her hands again, getting the to let go. You rolled over to prop yourself up. Looking down at your woman as her face was so relaxed.
Her eyes fluttered open. Instantly filling with tears. "Please don't leave me..." her tears began falling. "I know I was wrong but please. I cant go through it."
"Melly, I'm not leaving you. You did a terrible terrible thing and I still hardly know why, except that it had something to do with Janine?" You pushed hair out of her face and getting comfortable in her arms again. "What went through that head?"
Melissa moved to rest lower and bury her head into your chest. You knew she needed to be held, so that's what you did. She explained it all to you while you played with her hair.
"And I just....it kept eating at me that you were tired and wanted someone young. I know not Janine but I wanted to get it over with so you couldn't break my heart." She finished. The sun peaking up and through your blinds. "And when you yelled and said what you said, I had a reality check."
You pulled her head back slightly to see her face. Leaning down and kissing her so passionately.
"I will never, and I mean never, mean what I say when I'm mad. It will never mean anything until I have time to calm down and talk sensibly. I was so so hurt that you did that to me though. And it hurt even worst because I knew I still would love you after it all. Because I love you Melissa." You kissed her forehead.
You took in this moment. You had the woman you swore to marriage within your own head. She was your forever. Since the first day with her she was your everything.
"I love you too, y/n." She smiled. It was the most genuine smile you've ever seen this woman give you.
The look in that woman's eyes before you both fell back asleep was all you needed to know she was your forever home.

I don't know if this song has been suggested yet but 15 Step by Radiohead for Rainhaze? Not just for the "one by one / it comes to us all / it's as soft as your pillow" (in reference to how he perceived death) but if you're willing to skew the optimism in the first verse, I see it as the line where he finally 'realizes' what Defiance is all about - when he finally sheds the Old Rainhaze for the new one by killing Asphodelpaw ("first you reel me out and then you cut the string"). Plus, there's a very on the nose reference that I see Ranger making to him in relation to finding out about Barrenclan ("you used to be alright, what happened? / did the cat get your tongue? / did your string come undone?") which is conveniently immediately before the Death lines.
And with recent developments (I had this ask planned for a while lol) now the "You used to be alright, what happened?" ...Ohhhh that hits. The difference between the mocking tone of Ranger the first time around, and then the second time the verse is repeated, it being cut off with "etcetera, etcetera..." which I either interpret as Rainhaze being unable to finish 'convincing' the rest of Barrenclan because he got interrupted then Tigerstar'd... Much to think about.
Anyway love this comic, been following it (and TDS!) since day 1, can't believe it's been so many years of it. At least one. You have a talent for storytelling!! I can't wait to see what you have planned for the future, big fan!
Haven't heard this one yet! But I'm always happy to get some Radiohead. I'm very flattered you've been enjoying the comic, and following my stories for so long.
youtube
Ooh, I always like getting instrumental music recommendations! I've never seen LOST, but both my parents watched it while it was airing. PATFW is definitely a mystery story, although I like to think I got to my resolutions better than JJ did. Giacchino is a great scorer of course, I like how this song is sad, sweet, and a little ominous. Reminds me of Twin Peaks.
youtube
Haha yes, it's definitely a popular suggestion for a popular song. But it is very pretty, and I do like the themes of burial and fighting to try and restrain someone who won't be restrained.
You can't keep them all caged They will fight and run away Mother, tell me so I say
Barren curtains that you're weaving Like the stories that you keep inside your head She can't keep them all safe They will die and be afraid
youtube
Oh... yeah. Anything with scary angel imagery fits very well for her, because I heavily associate Asphodelpaw with Laura Palmer.
Carry me in your teeth with tender jaws of sympathy (Arrow deep inside the meat Impossible for us to reach)
Shattered in a mist of crippled, angel silhouettes Lift the dirt, and cover me Lay at my side until I'm finally sleeping Until I'm finally sleeping
youtube
I like it! Comorantpaw has a strong streak of self-hatred and lately, is very much feeling like he's permanently stained with evil because of his past. But he still wants to be there for Pinepaw, maybe thinking it's all he's good for.
Bitterness is thick like blood and cold as a wind sea breeze If you must drink of me, take of me what you please I am loathed to say it's the devil's taste I've been with the devil in the devil's resting place
Come up here to speak to me and hold your face to mine Any man can hold my gaze has done his job just fine You just sold your life away to be with me tonight Hold your head against my chest, I think you'll be just fine

Classic Glass Animals! I think it captures the feeling of Issue 38 well.
Everything, waiting, shaking as it drops I tried for you and I, for too hard, for too long Gave it all and everything for more time, but I lost
… Ooh, I'm breaking down Whispers would deafen me now You don't make a sound Heartbreak was never so loud
youtube
Hahah! Yeah, this fits them well.
What did I do to deserve you? How did you find me? I was already halfway gone You were a bright light You were a fistfight, oh
Our love is older than the Great Wall Our love spins a gun around its finger Our love has found its way into our mouths before Cut our teeth until we swallow it whole
youtube
Great Rainhaze song! It gets at that fatalistic, manic energy he has that's especially evident in Issue 37.
Losing my mind It never felt so good to be alive Crucify my name I never felt more famous than today, where I am no one To nothing
Lose your mind baby You'll never feel so good to be alive, I say again I say erase your name, sweet honey You'll never feel more famous than today, where you are no one (no one)
youtube
I believe it was suggested a couple years ago with Hush Puppy and Thrasher, but not Rainhaze! It's an interesting angle to make it about him and Ranger.
One last kiss I love you like a broken pot One last kiss I love you like a pack of dogs One last kiss I need you like I need a gaping head wound

AITA for asking my mother not to do certain things?
Let me start off by saying i'm homeschooled. I've been homeschooled my entire life. I don't have any friends offline, so I've pretty much come here to ask for outside opinions from my friend groups (online).
Prefer not to state ages, if that's okay. It makes me uncomfortable.
I have ocd, suspected autism, and either auditory processing disorder or misophonia (we're not sure which.) as well as a plethora of other issues. my mother is very aware that i have ocd (she has it herself) and i've mentioned misophonia to her several times. she doesn't know about my other mental issues, as for reasons you're probably going to see here, as i don't feel comfortable or safe telling her. (or, i've tried, and she doesn't listen, or tells me i'm "being dramatic.")
my ocd is quite crippling, to the point i've tried medication, herbal tea (chamomile seems to work a bit!), asking friends for advice, and even asking her for advice. as of the last year, it's had a grip on my life and has been quite a problem for me. i'm unable to do things i want or need to a lot, and especially struggle doing most things, even basic tasks. i'm unable to see a therapist/counsellor or psychologist/psychiatrist for personal/financial reasons.
a lot of my triggers (well, not exactly triggers for the ocd, but they stop me from doing things.) revolve around sound, especially people talking. whistling is a major trigger for my misophonia/apd, as are other high pitched noises.
my mother has a tendency to watch tv a lot, and i often ask her to not do this when i'm trying to do certain things, as it makes my ocd a bit worse, and it's often rather loud. (please note i wear headphones a lot of the time for sensory issues.)
however, when i ask her either to turn it down, pause it temporarily, or ask her to turn it off for a bit, she has a tendency to get mad/upset. to the point of throwing a bit of a fit over it, in a way that to me seems a bit attention seeking (in the bad way). she says things like "fine, whatever." and flaps her arms about dramatically or slaps her legs, or she says "i don't even wanna watch it now, it's ruined."
i'll go ahead and say she's a bit self-centered in a lot of ways. for years she has said i've "targeted" her and "treated her terribly" even though any time i was (to her) doing these things, i was usually defending myself or telling her to do something that she needed to do that had been requested for days/weeks/months/sometimes years. i also have a tendency to ask her what she's doing, either out of genuine curiosity, or because she has done something strange to me that i didn't understand. which she gets mad over.
she also gets mad if i ask if she's coming over here (i have a tendency to walk/pace in certain areas to music, it helps with stress/adhd/also helps me write/act things out. she is very aware of this and this isn't really a problem.) or ask how long she will be over here. she seems to think me asking this is telling her she can't come over, or desperately trying to get her to move. admittedly sometimes i DO want her to move, but 90% of the time i am just asking so i know if i need to move to a different area to walk or just stop temporarily.
sometimes when i am having a particular peak in my ocd/anxiety/whatever else, i ask her not to talk for a moment/few minutes, either so i can do something i need to, or because i'm afraid it will make it worse. she'll either get mad about this, or go on a tangent about "not catering to me" and saying things "the real world doesn't work like this, and nobody cares that you have ocd/issues." she has a tendency to take my issues as a personal attack on her, when in reality i would ask anyone to stop for a moment.
she has a tendency to belittle me in a sense for it. i've tried to explain some of it to her (without revealing details of my trauma she doesn't know about, as most of my ocd is linked to severe ptsd.) and she says it "doesn't make any sense" and i "need to stop" and i "need to just make myself stop." she has ocd, and knows compulsions are not always rational, and yet still says these things.
part of my desire not to go to a therapist is because of her. she claims they will either try to put me away take me to another home/put me in foster care, or drug me up on medication that will make me dull. (the other part is more personal, and unrelated to her, but to my aforementioned trauma.)
one of the things i especially ask her not to do is whistle, or make a few other certain noises (eating loud, using nail files around me, etc) because they are especially triggering to me. she'll either blatantly refuse and say i "don't get to tell her what to do" or i don't "control her" (please note i am just asking, but when i DO specifically tell her to stop, it is because she either already knows this sound is triggering to me, or i've already asked, and i'm losing my patience.) or she'll do it louder/more just to trigger me further (my father also does this. sometimes as a joke which in some ways is worse.) or she'll go on the "not catering + nobody cares" tangent again.
i know my ocd and other issues can be a bit interrupting, but i don't ask huge things of her or anyone else. all i ask is for them to not make certain sounds around me, temporarily ask them to not do something/stop doing something, or ask them to do it a bit quieter for me. please note she has the ability to watch tv/videos on other devices with headphones easily, she just chooses not to. and worse of all, they treat it like it's not interrupting to me, when it affects my everyday life in ways far worse than asking/telling them not to do something.
it makes me feel unwanted and unappreciated, and i'll admit, i've contemplated....not existing, if you will, many times over this issue and others.
i just don't really know if i'm asking too much, or if they're just being shitty. i want outside opinions on this.
so, AITA?
(id put a tl;dr in here, but i don't really know what to put. feel free to do it for me. also, i know this was kinda long, but i needed to put some extra things in, sorry if thats like an inconvenience or anything!)
(adding my sideblog here so i can get notifs, @ocdaitathrowaway)
What are these acronyms?

Log of the Multiverse: Fresh
I've done some research lately on that parasite. In order to help someone.
Y'see Fresh is an interesting outcode to say the least. No one knows what his original universe was like. No one knows where he came from.
Not even Ink! Or at least, every time I ask him he conveniently forgets the answer even though he swears he knew a second ago.
Well, I can't blame him for having a faulty memory when mine's pretty shabby too.
But I digress.
He also kidnaps people. that's probably the first thing i should state.
So yeah, someone was kidnapped. Specifically Cross's best bud, Epic. A shame too, he was just rescued from the cusp of death in his universe. He didn't get to spend much time at the hub (see entry on Cross and XChara) before he went missing.
We don't know HOW Fresh weaseled his way into the hub, the code of the universe is set up in a way that repels him like a magnet of the same charge as him. The only ones that could've tampered with that code would be Cross himself (unlikely), Error (who doesn't even know where or what the hub is), and...
i'm getting off topic again!
So however he got in, he did, and then he found Epic and none of us had the time to warn him about who Fresh is and what he does. I'd assume they hit it off pretty well. They'd probably be great friends if it wasn't for the fact Fresh's entire personality is fabricated to lure people in.
As for Where monsters (mainly of the skeleton kind. mainly of the sans kind.) end up after Fresh nabs them, well i shouldn't leave you in suspense should i?
yeah that would be mean.
who would do that in their own log? i mean, i'm the only one reading it.
so really i'm not keeping anyone in suspense because i already know.
[there is a stupidly wide margin here]
yup.
That was stupid.
Anyway, he takes you to some warehouse in the antivoid where he holds this endless rave. How do I know this? Ink told me during one of his fights with Error they somehow strayed so far away from Error's place in the antivoid that they found Fresh's territory. Ink said the fight ended there because the sight and sound of it made Error crash. Ink took a peak through one of the windows and saw the place PACKED with sanses all of them wearing shades just like Fresh. The music and strobe lights could be heard from miles away you'd think it was a GREAT party.
you'd probably notice all the dust after it's too late.
Wowzers so dramatic.
I Havent Said Or Written That Word in Sooo Long
that almost felt weird to write. whatever
So anyway, recap. no one knows where fresh comes from, he kidnaps people and takes them to an endless rave where you dance until you literally drop and epic is currently at said rave.
yeahhhh.
AS FOR MY RESEARCH! "no one knows where fresh comes from" TOSS THAT OUT THE WINDOW. ME!! I KNOW!!
He's actually
from a completely generic undertale universe
You might think "what? that doesn't sound right."
Which Yeah I Guess So If You're A Party Pooper Sure. Technically He's From An Alternate Timeline. Asshole.
"ok so how did a sans become that 90's freak?" Wrong. Incorrect. The sans of that universe is fine and dandy we had coffee together last week (true) (real).
Actually Fresh is
DRAMATIC PAUSE!
I'm killing you aren't i? absolutely annoying you?
you probably already know actually. SIGH
He's a memoryhead. I know! It threw me for a loop too. And it only made things MORE confusing considering. well no one knows the deal with memoryheads. not even alphyses.
They're. amalgamates? but. What monsters did they come from? They didn't come from Any recognizable monsters.
Now as for what's up with the flowers Fresh uses—Which I Totally Forgot To Mention In This Entry. ehhh whatever you probably already read that one. .. Did i include the flowers part. i forgot how much i explained there i was kinda occupied watering my flower. s. my flowers my potted flowers that i Keep In my room. and water with Water and not any other liquid.
the flowers are different from fresh's flowers unrelated. unrelated flowers to any s. keletons
I'm still trying to figure out what is up with the flowers but my guessFOR NO REASON IN PARTICULAR is that said memoryhead managed to mmmmmerge?? melt? how do i phrase this. merge. with a flowey. maybe. potentially
i mean ive never seen a rafflesia flowey ever but hey the multiverse is huge. (not endless though. ink's told me he's seen the edge of the multiverse he looked very perturbed at the revelation)
not that ive seen many floweys.
AUDIBLE COUGH WRITTEN ON PAPER
Man i totally just dropped the "fresh is a memoryhead from an undertale alternate timeline actually" bomb on you and didn't let you sit with it huh.
I'm sorry to say that's as far as my research got. He's a memoryhead. Potentially merged with some sort of flowey. So what now?
well i have a lot of questions. like you do probably
How did the memoryhead escape their universe in the first place? Who in that amalgamate is in control? the flowey? the memoryhead (what monsters are in the memoryhead anyway?) how did that happen? Why the hell does it pretend to be from the 90's.
why does it need so many hosts. what IS the main host's body and why is it so tall? SIX feet really? compensating much? what the hell would an amalgamate need to compensate for. nevermind.
Hang on pause. the song that just came on goes hard i need to save it to my playlist.
...
Yes?? I listen to music while writing these sometimes? Duh? Get off my back?
"you're being sassier than normal" am i? (am i.) well maybe i just learned something
about myself. learned more about myself
I might loop this song actually. it's that good. do you do that? do you find a song that's so good you just loop it and wrench every note out of it until it sounds awful to you?

mitski songs that make me think of reid + a specific lyric
spencer reid is very mitski. but these were the first to come to mind. i do not take criticism.
- working for the knife
honestly, the entire song reminds me of reid, but this in particular:
I always thought the choice was mine
And I was right, but I just chose wrong
I start the day lying and end with the truth
That I'm dying for the knife
- liquid smooth
I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too
I'm at my highest peak, I'm ripe
About to fall
How I feel this river rushing through my veins
With nowhere else to go, it circles 'round
- class of 2013
Mom, would you wash my back?
This once, and then we can forget
And I'll leave what I'm chasing
For the other girls to pursue
Mom, am I still young?
Can I dream for a few months more?
- i don't smoke
Just don't leave me alone
Wondering where you are
I am stronger than you give me
Credit for
If your hands need to break
More than trinkets in your room
You can lean on my arm
As you break my heart
- abbey
again, the entire song is very reid, but:
I am something
I have been something
I was born something
What could I be?
There is a light that I can see
But only, it seems, when there's darkness in me
There is a dream that I sometimes see
That only appears in the dark of sleep
- i bet on losing dogs
Will you let me, baby, lose
On losing dogs
I know they're losing and I'll pay for my place
By the ring
Where I'll be looking in their eyes when they're down
I wanna feel it
I bet on losing dogs
I always want you when I'm finally fine
- the deal
Then of course, nothing replied, nothing speaks to you in the night
And I walked my way home, there was no one in sight
Save a bird perched upon a streetlight, watchin' me
So, I stopped and let it watch 'til I found that it said
"Now I'm taken, the night has me
You won't hear me singin'
You're a cage without me
Your pain is eased, but you'll never be free for
Now I'm taken, the night has me"
- fireworks
this is perhaps one of the reid-est. here's the particular lyric:
One morning this sadness will fossilize
And I will forget how to cry
I'll keep going to work and you won't see a change
Save perhaps a slight gray in my eye
I will go jogging routinely
Calmly and rhythmically run
And when I find that a knife's sticking out of my side
I'll pull it out without questioning why
- i don't like my mind
again, the entire song is reid, but this is my pick:
I don't like my mind, I don't like being left alone in a room
With all its opinions about the things that I've done
So, yeah, I blast music loud, and I work myself to the bone
And on an inconvenient Christmas, I eat a cake
- first love / late spring
very cliché, but i HAD to include it! here:
And I was so young when I behaved 25
Yet now, I find I've grown into a tall child
And I don't wanna go home
Let me walk to the top of the big night sky
- there's nothing left for you
You could touch fire
You could fly
It was your right
It was your life
And then it passed
To someone new
It'll keep passin' on
Long after you
- nobody
And I don't want your pity
I just want somebody near me
Guess I'm a coward
I just want to feel alright
- because dreaming costs money, my dear
I once lived in the sea
Bring me to your ear, you can hear
The tide where I used to be
Though now I'm but a shell
- a pearl
Sorry, I don't want your touch
It's not that I don't want you
Sorry, I can't take your touch
It's just that I fell in love with a war
Nobody told me it ended
And it left a pearl in my head
And I roll it around every night
Just to watch it glow
Every night, baby, that's where I go
- real men
Real men keep cool in the face of a fire
Go down with the ship
And real men don't eat
'Cause they're above that, damn it
Oh, I'm gonna be a real man
- crack baby
It's been a long, hard 20 year summer vacation
Both these 20 years tryna fill the void
Crack baby, you don't know what you want
But you know that you had it once
And you know that you want it back
Crack baby, you don't know what you want
But you know that you're needing it
And you know that you need it bad

Rivers in the Desert [Rainbow Ranch AU]
Summary: Panicking is not an option, but man--Shadow kinda wishes it was. With only a vague location, a distress signal, and the dawning realization that time is waning; what do you even do when the resident desert expert goes missing in said desert?
Warnings: Swearing (thanks Blue), blood and injury (though not to a graphic extent), and depictions of what may be a panic attack. Please let me know if I missed anything!
Word Count: 4,301
--Start--
Today is the day, he's sure of it. Chat may be doubting him, but he's never felt more confident as he dances around the edges of the corrals, swinging his phone around precariously on a makeshift selfie stick.
The sound of mini-small-scale nukes, out-of-tune music boxes, and unbridled cheer is quick to bombard his microphone, but a quick adjustment of his audio puts an end to the horrid peaking issues. Or at least, he thinks it does. He really can't tell.
Oh well. It's probably fine.
"Alright y'all, listen up!" Shadow grins into the camera, holding it steady as his eyes subtly dart over his other equipment. "Today we're goin' hikin' through the Moss Blanket. There's a Gordo there who owes me money and it's had it too good for too long. So I'm gonna go poke it with a stick and see what it do."
Behind him, a pair of Red's Boom Rad Slimes leap with delight over his theatrics, despite not knowing what 'owing money' meant. He quickly covers his ear closest to the corral as the slimes, true to their nature, promptly explode.
Chat reacts accordingly, and he watches the small monitor on his wrist flood ten times over with multicolored words of all varieties. Some were encouraging, some near deaf, and some were thirsting over Blue, but that was neither here nor there. Par for the course, honestly.
He shakes it off easily.
That is, until his monitor beeps a cheerful, "da-da-da-daaaa" and promptly spits out a lovingly rude message about his navigation skills in its smug robotic voice.
Jostling the stick around for a new angle, nearly whacking it into the side of a corral post, he glares into the camera while walking backward.
"Hey now, bitch, I will turn this hike right back 'round if you don't ditch that cringe take," he says flippantly, raising a clawed, glove-bound finger to his viewers. "For serious--I know where you live."
More messages flood in, most of which are buried under waves of emote spamming and text-to-speech chatter, all the while Shadow slowly zooms the camera in on his face. Just to annoy them. No cute slime content for the traitors.
They had to earn that privilege back.
Preferably through donations, and lots of begging.
Maybe he'd even film the ground the whole way just to really drive the point home...
Either way, things were already off to a well-rehearsed start. A few more minutes of banter and they'd be on their way. This was expected. This was normal.
So you can probably forgive him for not immediately noticing when his communicator went off. The vibrating is faint, barely noticeable among the jittery movement he was already prone to. It took him a moment of nearly walking into roaming hen-hens and tripping on stray plorts before it finally registered.
He holds up a hand to the camera as if to say 'just a moment,' before digging around in his hoodie pocket for said source of intrigue. Out comes a phone-sized device most of his chat had never seen before, bright in color and pinging a soft chime.
"Huh. Well, that ain't good," Shadow mumbles, more so to himself than anyone else. His gaze flickers back up, almost nervously, and he laughs a half-hearted excuse. "Sorry y'all, we're gonna have to rain check this."
His chat isn't able to sway him for any further details as he speeds through his usual farewell spiel, hurrying through the motions of shutting down his broadcast and rushing back to the house. His normally relaxed and bouncy gait is swapped out right alongside his stream gear, left at the front door as he leaps down the steps back into the ranch. He can worry about it later.
Green is right where Shadow had last seen him, still standing off to the left side of the ranch, staring at their coop with mild exasperation and a defeated slump to his posture. His ear twitches at Shadow's approach, head tilting ever so slightly in his direction.
"Change of plans?" Green asks.
Shadow skids to a stop, kicking up dirt as he slides, prompting Green to sidestep to avoid it. That gets his full attention. Observant emerald irises pin him immediately, radiating concern (along with trace amounts of actual radiation, but that wasn't important).
"Problem?" Green not so subtly gives him a cursory once over, frowning when it didn't reveal the issue right away. Shadow would have made a joke about it, but now really wasn't the time.
Lifting his communicator up, he waves it obnoxiously--as if Green needed any prompting. "Distress ping from Vio."
Green's posture changes at that.
"Any details?" He asks, keeping his jaw set; standing a little straighter.
"Nah." Shadow turns the communicator back to himself, staring at it almost forlornly. "Just the ping."
Green's hand finds Shadow's shoulder, startling him from his worries before they could spiral. His eyes reflect back the same concern, but a small, reassuring smile is beginning to work its way onto Green's face, and he squeezes lightly.
"No worries, Vio knows how to handle himself." Green's eyes flicker off to one side briefly, and he raises his unoccupied hand to make the nearly universal 'come here' gesture, before returning his attention to Shadow. "We know his location, and our Firefly should be somewhere around the Ancient Ruins right about now. I'll shoot him a message and get him moving in that direction, kay?"
Shadow can only nod as another arm winds around his shoulders from behind, pulling him back against a much firmer chest. Green huffs out a laugh as Blue rests his chin against the top of Shadow's head, paying no mind to Shadow's near squawk of outrage and futile struggle.
"Sup?" Blue raises an eyebrow, tightening his grip on Shadow even as he begins trying to gnaw his arm. He covers Shadow's mouth with his free hand and a hissed, "fuckin' stop that."
Green lifts a finger as he pulls out his communicator, leaving Blue in the dark a little longer. The sound of flurried typing echoes over the bawks of the hen-hens, and Blue sticks his own fingers into Shadow's mouth in response to having his hand licked.
"We have--don't gag him--a situation," Green finally illuminates, clipping the device back to his belt.
"Good situation, bad situation? Blue asks, finally relinquishing Shadow's freedom to wipe the spit off his fingers.
Green's expression does something complicated. "A not good one."
"VeVe S.O.S'd," Shadow coughs.
"Seriously?"
"Red's en route, I'm going to meet him at our Desert teleporter. We should be able to find Vio within the hour, assuming he stayed within his intended radius." Green nods to himself, starting off towards the lab.
"And if he didn't?" Blue calls after. Shadow looks at him sharply.
Green pauses in his stride, inclining his head up in thought, before continuing at a slower pace. "In that case, it may take a little longer."
"Even with Red's help?" Shadow questions.
"He doesn't know the Desert like V does," Blue points out, moving to follow Green. "He told me he's been there like, maybe three times total. And one of those times he just sucked faces with V instead of exploring."
Shadow titters, jogging to catch up. The other's longer legs made for an unfair advantage, but the hurried march made sense. Blue glances between the pile of tech in front of the house and Shadow as they go by, but keeps his mouth shut and allows it to pass without comment.
By the time they make it to Vio's lab, Shadow's nerves are starting to fray once more. The yellow teleporter ("It's butterscotch!" Red would insist), loomed just outside the open doors to the building, allowing the fluorescent lighting to spill out onto the dry ground. It looks oddly empty, without their resident scientist mulling around inside.
Something about that thought made Shadow's insides twist.
"Are you guys coming too?" Green asks, a bit redundantly, given he already knew the answer. Shadow nods without hesitation, stepping up alongside him to face the teleporter.
"I need to grab something first." Blue doesn't wait for any responses. Ducking into the lab, shuffling boxes and metal dragging on metal faintly fills the otherwise still air.
Once he reemerges, Shadow briefly catches sight of something small being slipped into Blue's belt pouch, but he's quickly distracted again by Green stepping onto the teleporter. In a flash of brilliant gold, Green disappears, and Shadow isn't slow to follow.
The sun immediately begins to glare down on him from the other side, and he yelps, ducking behind Green in a fruitless attempt at shelter. Green chuckles despite the situation, and wordlessly readjusts to properly shield Shadow from the worst of the rays.
Blue appears shortly thereafter, raising one hand to block the light from his vision as he looks out across the shifting sand. He gives it a good once over, before dropping his hand and turning to Green. "The fuck are we?"
"North of the Warp Station, silly!" The three jostle slightly, turning just in time to see Red come bounding across the uneven terrain like it was nothing. His shoes barely even seem to sink in the sand as he draws closer, hopping onto a fallen pillar of some sort before kicking off with his hands outstretched in Green's direction.
To his credit, Green didn't stumble as he caught Red in his arms, spinning them both with the momentum as Red's infectious laughter began to spread. He places Red down--only for him to dart over to Blue, hugging him tightly and nuzzling his shoulder.
Shadow blinks, and Red materializes in front of him next, lacing their fingers together as he leans forward to peck him on the lips. It was chaste, barely enough to even feel, but the warmth behind it was enough to chase away the twisting anxiety that had wedged itself between his ribs, if only for a moment.
He tugs Red back to him as he tries to slip away, pressing their lips more firmly together and smothering Red's laughter between them. It's hardly enough; the warmth much too addicting, but he knows better than to push for any more.
Green's amused ahem backs up that decision.
Shadow pulls away, noting with smug satisfaction that Red tries to follow. And that smug energy only shifts to humor once Blue snags Red around the waist, dragging him into their own barely contained kiss. Making eye contact with Green, Shadow smirks playfully, and Green can only sigh.
"If we're all done making out with Red now," Green starts, clapping his hands to get their attention, "we do kinda have a reason for being out here if you'll recall."
Red pushes at Blue's shoulders, leaning backward in his arms to stare at Green from upside down. "I don't recall, actually. What're we doin' again?
"You didn't fill him in?" Blue intoned, letting go of Red completely and dropping him into the sand. Shadow only felt a little bad snickering at Red's exaggerated 'oof'.
"Hey, I didn't exactly have time to explain in detail," Green defends, though he does concede to Blue's glare, lowering his head slightly. "I figured I could explain as we go. It'll be faster that way."
Red jumps to his feet, brushing the sand from the folds of his pants with a tilt of his head. "If that's the case, then let's go! Where to?"
"West of the center point. Know where that is?"
Red hums, bounding past Green and towards an arch in the landscape's natural mountains. He stops before he gets too far, turning back to stare at them expectantly.
"If we're just heading in a direction, then I can probably lead us," Red explains, "but landmarks are finicky. I don't think anythin' actually has a name out here. Vi said no to all my suggestions."
"Right, well that's better than nothing." Green shares a look between Blue and Shadow, stepping forward and nearly stumbling as his boot takes on sand. "Let's--ah, talk while we walk. We still don't have a full scope of the situation, but we're hoping..."
Shadow stares after them as they begin to drift away, bumping shoulders with Blue as he moves past. It's clear from the proximity that Blue intends to stay close, likely as a preventative measure to keep him from wandering off. And he can appreciate that. After all, the last thing they need right now is two missing people.
He hopes Green has finished explaining by the time they catch up. Shadow's own anxiety about the situation had reached a tolerable simmer thanks to Red's bubbly aura, but he wasn't sure what would happen should that aura pop.
Thankfully, Red was the kind of guy to take everything in stride.
Everything would be fine.
They'd explain things to Red, he'd lead them to Vio, and Vio would be fine. Maybe it was just a misclick. Maybe they'd find him wandering about and he'd have no idea they were even concerned in the first place.
Vio would be fine.
Everything would be fine.
----
Everything was not fine.
Everything was so not fine.
They'd reached the area Vio was meant to be in without issue. Fairly straightforward. They had a vague idea of what to be looking out for, and the landmark was indeed very obvious, and just as Vio had described to Red the night before.
The actual problem was Vio not being there.
Sure, there were signs all around the isolated plateau that Vio had been up to something nearby. But none of it pointed to where he had gone, and to make matters infinitely worse, they had a brand new issue to contend with.
Apparently, the Glass Desert was named that for a very specific reason—one that, according to Red, was fast approaching and signaled by the dramatic uptick in heat.
So, yeah. By this point Shadow could safely say he hasn't been so stressed in literal years.
The plateau and its immediate surroundings were busts. Branching off was their only option, and that's how they found themselves in the stupid situation they are now: racing through unfamiliar territory in a frantic search for their missing link.
A lot of it's a blur.
Blue may have stayed back to check the sea (and Goddesses, he hopes Vio hadn't drowned), while Green had gone...somewhere else. And Red, well.
The speeds at which Red moves are difficult enough to keep up with even on more stable terrain, but with Shadow's shoes constantly sinking and sliding in the loose grains, he has no hope of keeping up.
He can only fall further and further behind as the impending fallout ticks closer and closer.
Firestorms were no joke.
Even the slimes, fearless as they may be in their element, tended to cower at the might of a solar anomaly, hiding away in crumbling ruins and under towering crystalline structures; existing testaments to the sheer intensity of the Desert.
And Vio was out here somewhere.
Lost, despite claiming this as his element.
Shadow couldn't help but wonder what had gone wrong. Did he really misclick after all? Had a slime caught him unaware?
...was he safe?
Shadow's foot caught in the sand, sending him tumbling to the rough ground below as if to spite him. Hot tears jostle to the corners of his eyes, barely comparable to the arid heat wafting around him, and he balls his fists into the grains with a frustrated growl.
He pushes himself to his knees, scrubbing at his face with his jacket sleeves. Goddesses, he hates crying. He was going to kill Vio himself for worrying him so bad. The stupid...smart bastard better still be alive for him to follow through on that delirious vow, or so help him...
Climbing to his feet, Shadow made it another few steps forward before a shrill scream tore through his very core like lightning. Distressed, unintelligible; less a coherent word, never mind a name, but Shadow knew it all the same.
It carried on the wind, reverberating in his skull. He was moving before he even had time to fully process it. The high cliff walls around him blurred together as he stumbled through a winding, weathered path, fighting the drag of his own weight through the unforgiving sands.
When the sheer cliff faces began to subside, pulling away to let him breathe, he was met with a sharp drop down into a clearing. His heart was hammering in his chest as he wobbled forward, vertigo kicking in hard as he'd already pieced together what likely lay below.
Red's stuttering sobs bounced off the rocks, piercing through Shadow like jagged glass, tearing at his fragile composure. He staggers, dropping to his knees at the edge of the drop, unable to keep his balance.
He peers forward over the side.
He stops breathing.
There, splattered along the side of the dry rock, popping against the craggy orange stone...dotting Red's hands...as he cradles Vio's still form to himself.
Blood.
So much.
He couldn't breathe.
...was Vio breathing?
Numb, almost unresponsive fingers move to his communicator, unhelpfully mashing down the distress button over and over, and over, and over...
Where were the others? Red was crying, couldn't they hear him? They need help.
They need help. They need help.
Vio needs help.
"S--!"
Help.
"--dow!"
Help.
"Sh-dow!"
Help, someone-!
"Shadow!"
Fingers dig into his shoulder, tearing his gaze away from the scene and hiding his vision away in the crook of someone's neck. His breathing was ragged, choppy. So loud in his own ears. What...
"It's okay." Green's voice. Shaky, wet. "It's okay."
A hand found it's way into his hair, carding through it with unwavering care. Green. Green was here.
"Is-" Shadow's voice shook. "...Vio..."
Green lowers his chin onto Shadow's head, resting it on his hand for a moment. And for once, Shadow can't find it in himself to hate it.
"He's...okay," Green murmurs. "He'll be okay."
...okay.
"We need to go."
He doesn't wait for a reply. Shadow closes his eyes tightly against the harsh, red light of the Desert around them, burying his face further into Green's neck as he's lifted. The world shifts, the sound of a jetpack goes off, and Shadow's just lucid enough to wonder if Green had his vacpack this whole time.
The feeling of burning hot heat lasts for only a few minutes more, before the drone of a teleporter hums loudly in his ear, and his consciousnesss fades.
----
He should be dead right now.
Vio is aware enough to admit that.
Miscalculations are common enough in his particular field of study to be expected. Accidents happen, no matter how experienced you are, so it wasn't too surprising.
He knew the moment his foot missed the ledge and gravity took over that he was dead. The fall was survivable, sure, but all those collisions he had with the cliff-side on the way down? Astronomically less so. He was dead. So, so so dead.
The others were going to find his half-charred, slime-eaten body at the bottom of some random cliff and conclude he was actually a fucking dumbass. Goddesses, he hopes they skip the mourning process and just chuck his body into the sea.
At least then he'd still be attributing to science. He's still morbidly curious after all; do corpses float in the slime sea?
Questions for another time, he supposes. The fact he could even think at all was pointing toward a conclusion much more curious all its own.
He's still alive.
He really shouldn't be, and yet...hm.
His body feels numb. Moving is proving to be difficult, but that's never stopped him before and won't stop him now. Scrunching up his face, he forces his eyelids open with some effort, wincing at the glaringly familiar white ceiling above him. The blurriness slowly recedes as he blinks back to steady consciousness.
More and more of his surroundings come into focus. A soft weight on his left side, shifting gently out of sync with him; another person. Then, a different, more noticeable weight against the right side of his body, blowing light, warm air onto his neck; no doubt, yet another person.
His eyes slip closed again as he allows himself to just breathe.
Breathe.
He really should not be able to do that right now. Or ever again, actually. Not that he's complaining. Though it probably sounds as if he is. Still fairly curious about the slime sea, after all...
But no, he's...hm. Having trouble thinking.
"You done defragging yet, Windows Vista?"
Oh, he knows that voice.
"...luuue..." he slurs, tilting his head towards the source.
There's an irritated clicking noise, before a chair squeaks, and one of Vio's eyes is pried open. He instinctively squints against the feeling, a whole three seconds late.
"Fucking hell...you are concussed, damn it." Blue's blurry face twists into a scowl before he leans away again, momentarily revealing Shadow as the person lying on his right side, and then he's dropped back into darkness.
"Mmm n-n-naah," Vio glitches.
Blue scoffs again. "Mhm, yeah, no. Try again when you can say actual words."
"Sh--hn tr..ee," Vio tries again.
"That one didn't even make sense."
Dull pain blooms behind Vio's eyelids, and he whines low in his throat.
Hurts. It hurts. His muscles are fighting him, he can't lift his arms. He needs...he needs to...hm...?
"...we're gonna need to talk about this."
Pain--
Painpainpain--!
Vio's eyes shoot open, and he gasps, instinctively clenching his jaw as the pressure around his wrist registers. Shortly after, Blue's face comes into view, twisted into a grimace. He has one hand wrapped loosely over the deep purple bruise of skin Vio calls his right wrist, the other keeping him propped up over the side of the bed.
"Fuck," Vio mumbles, forcing his body to relax. It's the first coherent thing he's said in days, and Blue's not exactly happy about that. "Let go."
Blue doesn't have to be told twice.
"You aren't phasing anymore."
"So it would seem." Vio shuts his eyes once more. "Are the others asleep?"
"Have been for a few hours now." Blue leans back, causing the mattress to spring slightly once his weight is off it. "Green's out working through his stress, the idiot. These two just don't wanna leave you be."
Ah, so the other person is Red. That makes sense.
"Sorry," Vio says automatically, "I didn't mean to worry everyone."
Blue emanates the aura of someone rolling their eyes, and it's a little impressive he's able to communicate that so well to someone with their own eyes closed.
"Shut the fuck up. You have a lot more to apologize for than just that."
Vio reopens his eyes to level a blank stare at Blue.
"Don't look at me like that."
Vio squints.
"Or like that!"
A soft chuckle escapes Vio, only to be immediately chased down by a wince as his ribs protest loudly. He curses his low pain tolerance silently in his head as Blue sighs.
"You're injured, dumbass. Fell off a damn cliff apparently." Huh. That does sound familiar. "You really scared the hell out of these two when they found you."
Ah. No wonder they were clinging.
"Green's coming up with a whole lecture on group safety as we speak. No more Desert trips alone."
Vio raises an eyebrow at that. Or at least attempts to. "There's no way he can enforce that."
"Yeah, well, he won't be the only one." Blue crosses his arms and nods towards the two cuddled up to Vio's sides. "Good luck going anywhere without at least one attached to you."
Fair point. It wouldn't be the first time he's had them nipping at his heels wherever he went, though it has been a few years. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad. He didn't remember minding it back then.
Then again, his research efforts might drop dramatically in productivity. Both could be distracting on their own, but together? He'd never get anything done.
He's lured from that particular conundrum as Blue abruptly stands, stretching his arms over his head with a groan. Vio would probably appreciate the sight more if he weren't concussed and struggling with complex thoughts.
"M'kay, well, I'm gonna go let Green know you're kinda lucid right now. Don't think you're getting out of that conversation later." Blue does a few more stretches to fully wake up his joints (just how long had he been sitting there?) before heading over to the door. Oh, this is his room; no wonder the ceiling looks familiar.
Blue pauses in the doorway, seeming to think something over, then turns back with a smug grin and a flippant wave. "Oh, and by the way, one of your teleporters is in the middle of fuckin' nowhere now. Sorry not sorry."
"Wait, what--?"
Blue cackles to himself as he leaves, completely aware of how Vio's attempt to sit up was barred by Shadow and Red 'conveniently' choosing that moment to wake up and tighten their holds on him.
And it was about at that point, where he was being smothered by his two more affectionate boyfriends, that Vio decided, yeah, actually, slime sea theory can wait a few more years.
Or ten.
Maybe thirty.
That conversation could be a future non-concussed Vio's problem, too.
This is nice.
He should fall off cliffs more often.
Or maybe not. He really should be dead right now.
He wonders how many realities in which he did die there. He wonders which reality is he. Is there a true Vio out there? What quantifies as a "Vio", anyway.
...he wonders where they put his bracelet.
He's starting to slip again.
--End--
Please feel free to tell me what y'all thought! I haven't written anything to completion in years so I'm still a bit rusty.
I intended to address Vio's bracelet more, and there was a whole extra plot thread I ended up cutting, but hopefully I'll get to those some other time. This was getting a bit long and I didn't want to lose motivation before I finished it. I'm placing this in dubiously au canon for now. We'll see if it still fits in as I expand the au.
Thanks so much for reading this far! Hopefully y'all liked it!
Here’s a bonus: the in-game map with some of my notes on it. In blue, the area where Vio was supposed to be. In purple, the area they actually found him.
I like to think in this AU, one of the others put that cartoony danger sign next to the cliff.
As requested: @zeldathusiast
It’s done! :D

Akaashi Keiji x Reader //
『Strangers』🪩
Summary: Your friend Atsumu dragged you along to a birthday party. In an attempt to find a quiet place you get closer to a certain stranger you had your eye on.
Notes/TW: mentions of drinking, little bit of descriptive anxiety
Pt.2
The party's loud. So is your heartbeat as you're looking for a place to hide for the night. You don't drink and don't like being around drunk people either. You can't stand the crowd and the overwhelming noise of chatter mixed with the blasting music. If one more person talks to you you swear you're gonna snap. How people have this much energy is beyond you, or how they don't feel out of breath and overwhelmed by all the stimulation around. Your breath matches your movements as you frantically push yourself through the crowd. Fast, fast ,fast you open and close any door that comes your way to find a quiet place to hide. You try your luck on the balcony first, your head dizzy and craving the fresh air, but the smokers are there. You try the kitchen next, you catch a glimpse of your friend's blonde bleached hair. He's laughing with some people you don't know and Kotaro Bokuto, if you remember correctly. You don't even know him that well. Before Atsumu has the chance to see you and pull you into the conversation you turn around, quick, and leave. Then you try your luck in the bathroom just to find somebody throwing up into the toilet. Her friends continue their gossip, unbothered by your figure at the door as you mutter a 'sorry' under your breath and leave. There had to be an empty room in this house, right? And then you find yourself infront of it. Hidden under the staircase, the pantry. Small but big enough to squeeze in 3 people if you really tried. You don't think, just grab the handle and shut the door behind you. There are no windows in the small room and the lights don't work you realize, leaving you in the dark. But it's fine. Maybe even better that way. It's alright now. The dark is comforting, so is the silence. The music is only a far muffled sound through the thick walls, the chatter and the crowd finally gone, allowing your senses to finally calm down. You exhale deeply and slide down the wall with your back, knees bent, breathing heavy. Here no one would find you, unless someone was in desperate need for cleaning supplies or toilet paper.
You shouldn't have come. You knew this would happen. It always does in crowds. If it only weren't for the sake of your childhood friends you wouldn't have anyway but Atsumu had reassured you that not too many people would be there (he was speaking in his own standarts apparently) and that you needed to get out of your shell more. You shouldn't have listened to him. You should've gotten that damn driver's license because now you're stuck here until Atsumu decides he wants to leave and you know he won't any time soon.
You close your eyes, leaning your head against the wall, one hand on your chest, taking in deep, slow breaths. Clarity slowly starts returning to your mind just to be overcome by a momentarily panic when you hear the door handle go down and your eyes shoot open again. A head peaks in, not seeing you in the dark and sitting on the ground, and tries to turn on the light, unsuccesful as well. Should you keep quiet? You heart is hammering in your chest again. Maybe the person will leave. Instead the door opens even wider, letting a dim light in from the hallway and finally revealing your sillhouette to the stranger, upon which he jumps, clearly startled, not having expected anyone in here.
"What are you doing here?" His voice sounds familiar. You recall the beginning of the night when Atsumu had pulled you along to meet his friend Kotaro, the one who all this is for. A surprise birthday party. You'd been too distracted to listen to a single word when you saw the face of the other man standing next to Bokuto. Tall, dark hair, the most gorgeous eyes you'd ever seen on a face. He'd introduced himself as Keiji Akaashi and neither his name nor his voice had left your head since.
Just like your own face, his is also in the dark but you recognize the voice definetly belongs to him. Your heart makes a little jump. This time it's not panic but nervousness.
"What are you doing here? Need something?" Your voice comes out tense despite your effort to sound casual and hide your overwhelm.
"I was just looking for a quiet place to hide," he admits.
"There's your answer. Me too," you answer quick and hushed, hoping he will leave. As if your night isn't an absolute disaster already, now you're embarassing yourself infront of the pretty boy from earlier too.
"Mind if I join you?" He asks, a little unsure.
You look up at his face to see his features becoming more present as he opens the door a little bit wider, letting more light into the small dark room. For a moment you think about whether your night could get any worse than this. He's probably already thinking that you're a weirdo, from the second he noticed you sitting alone on the floor in the dark here. And somehow you wouldn't mind his company you realize. Plus he's already seen you at an emberassing low like this and when else were you gonna get the chance to see him again anyway?
"Depends on how much you talk."
He blinked in surprise at your unexpected question. "Not much I think."
He seems to notice your tenseness and follows his answer with: "It's fine actually. I'm sure I'll find another quiet place." But he doesn't leaves. His hand stays glued on the doorhandle, reluctant to throw himself back into the crowded party. Tired eyes staring eagerly into the small room.
"No, it's fine," you tell him and he hesitantly walks in, leaving the door ajar behind him. Despite your bent knees you're taking up almost half the space in the small room which leaves him to lean against the wall across from you, slightly hidden from the door, leading into a tiny nook. Although you can barely see each other in the dark, it is awkward to say the least. But hey, at least still better than being stuck in a crowd of partying and mostly drunk strangers, you comfort yourself.
"So you're friends with the Miya twins?" He recalls and your heart does another flip upon realizing that he's remembered you from earlier.
"How- oh, yeah. Got dragged along in case you couldn't tell yet." You speak quiet and slow, trying to calm down your breathing again.
"Already thought so," he confirms, his own tone barely abover a whisper. "Won't they look for you?"
"They might after a while but I really need a quiet place right now.. What about your friend? Kotaro was his name? The birthday kid. Won't he look for you?"
"Birthday kid?" He chuckles. "He is. That's why I'm here. He's trying to introduce me to every single person out there."
"Yikes."
"Why don't you just leave if it's too much for you here?" He wants to know.
"I can't until the twins leave, they're my ride.. although I'm not so sure that was a good idea anymore. Hopefully Osamu isn't as drunk as Atsumu that bastard." A frustrated sigh escapes your lips. That dumb blond friend of yours is the last person you want to be thinking about right now. You can't wait to give him hell once this stupid party is over.
"I see.." Keiji cuts off your stream of thought. "I'd offer to drive you home but.. I don't know if that's a bit weird since you don't know me."
"I could get to know you." You look straight at his sillhouette in the dark, not knowing whatever posessed you in that moment to say those words. Maybe it was just easier to be honest in the dark when you didn't see his face.
"Do you want to get to know me?"
"I think you're really pretty."
"I think you're gorgeous." His answer follows right after, as if he'd been waiting all night to say those words. Maybe he found it easier to talk in the dark too. You let out an amused huff through your nose.
A sudden thud sound from outside the door makes both of you jump and turn your heads towards the door. You shuffle to your feet, ready to hide if someone barges in, only to realize there's nowhere to hide. Nowhere but the nook where Keiji is already hidden. And when someone does push down on the door handle you freeze, staring at the door, when you suddenly feel a hand pull you by the waist into a corner. The next thing you know is how you're pressed against his chest, wide eyed and perplexed. You hold your breath and so does he while the person on the other side walks into the pantry. "Kotaro said the toilet paper is here but I can't see anything," he calls out, to which his friend at the door replies: "It's literally infront of you, are you dumb?"
Both of you exhale in relief when the door clicks into place and leaves you two in the dark again.
"Sorry about that." He whispers.
"It's fine. Thanks actually." You whisper back, still processing the situation you're in. Your heavy breathing matches his. "Would've been pretty embarassing if anyone saw us here like this."
His pretty face is so close to you, you think about leaning in a bit closer for a moment but you don't. You're not that type of person who kisses strangers in people's pantries at parties. Then why did you want to be that kind of person right now? With his hand still on your waist, both of you know there's no need for the closeness you share anymore but neither of you pull away. You feel his hot breath against your face. He feels your heartbeat against his chest. Maybe this one time you could be that person who kisses strangers in pantries at parties.
"I'd let you take me home by the way," you whisper in the dark. "I don't think it's weird."

bad idea right?
synopsis: abby ruined your relationship, so when she happens to be going to the same party, you should stear clear right?
pairing: soccer!abby x reader
warnings: none???
a/n: i was gonna make this like a “sad” ending but i cant do it for the life of me. also not my best work but i needed to get smthn out
my masterlist
Haven't heard from you in a couple of months But I'm out right now and I'm all fucked up And you're callin' my phone and you're all alone And I'm sensing some undertone And I'm right here with all my friends But you're sending me your new address And I know we're done, I know we're through But, God, when I look at you
“uhm, angel? who’s ‘loser not worth mentioning’?” ellie asks as shes tosses your phone on the bed next to you.
dina laughs as you groan, silencing the call again. “that is angel’s ex my dear.” dina says as she pulls clothes from her closet. “very messy breakup.”
“and she’s borderline obsessed with me.” you watch as the call ends before getting up to finish getting ready. “you know that tall blonde girl on the soccer team?” ellie gasps, punching your shoulder.
“no way.”
“way.”
ellie laughed, falling back onto your bed. “oh tonight is gonna be interesting.”
you sat up, looking at her. “what do you mean?”
“abby’s going tonight.”
dina squealed, grabbing your hands. “oh, you’re getting dressed up. you have to show her what shes missing.”
you felt your phone buzz as dina turned back to find your something to wear.
abby: baby please just pick up
abby: youre going to the party tn right?? come find me we need to talk
abby: im not gonna give up.
My brain goes, "Ah" Can't hear my thoughts (I cannot hear my thoughts) Like blah-blah-blah (Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah) Should probably not I should probably, probably not I should probably, probably not
“so i shouldn’t meet up with abby tonight, right?” ellie peaked over your shoulder to read the texts, laughing quietly.
“angel do not meet up with abby tonight.” dina told you over her shoulder. “i do not need you disappearing to her bed.” she threw an outfit at you before heading to her bathroom to change.
you knew she was right.
abby was just trying to fuck and you should stay far away. she didn’t care about your feelings and she had made that obvious. you should just steer clear.
angel: we’ll see.
angel: just, wait till im away from my friends.
abby: no promises
angel: abby.
abby: see u there ;)
“you’re right.” you set your phone to the side, standing to try on the clothes dina gave you.
Seeing you tonight It's a bad idea, right? Seeing you tonight It's a bad idea, right? Seeing you tonight It's a bad idea, right? Seeing you tonight Fuck it, it's fine
angel: this is a bad idea.
abby: just go with it babe
abby: i wanna see you
abby: i want to talk.
angel: fuxk
abby: see u soon
“guys,” you yelled over the music. “i’m gonna go get a drink. text me if you need me!”
dina and ellie nodded, smiling before dancing again. you rolled your eyes, heading to find abby. she’d said to meet her in the backyard, there was a door by the kitchen.
“angel!” you tensed as you poured a drink, turning to see abby heading your way. she placed a hand on your hip, smiling. “hey, i was just about to come find you.”
you smiled back, grabbing your cup and heading out leaving abby to follow you. she took a seat beside you on the swing, putting her arm around you.
you cleared your throat, setting down your cup and turning to face her.
even if she had fucked you over, you couldnt deny how perfect she was.
freckles lining her cheekbones. pretty eyelashes that you could only dream for. lips you loved to kiss. the prettiest blue eye’s you’d ever seen.
“it’s rude to stare you know…” she whispered as she rubbed her thumb on your knee. “if you want to kiss me just say that.” she joked.
“i want to kiss you.”
Yes, I know that he's my ex But can't two people reconnect? I only see him as a friend The biggest lie I ever said Oh, yes, I know that he's my ex But can't two people reconnect? I only see him as a friend I just tripped and fell into his bed
dina: angel where r u
dina: angel??
ellie: whered u go?? we cant find u
dina: i dont want to leave u here alone
ellie: can u respond pls
you pulled away from abby as your phone buzzed repeatedly. she chased your lips, making you smile.
“fuck,” you whispered as you read the texts.
angel: hi sorry
dina: babe where are you???
angel: im okay, with a friend from class
ellie: we are heading out, u want a ride?
dina: ^^
angel: im good thank you though
angel: having fun :)
dina: okay… be safe my love
dina: call me if u need me and get home safe
ellie: dont be stupid
angel: i will promise
angel: choke ellie
dina: i will 😁😁😁
angel: GAG
you tucked your phone back into a pocket before facing abby again. “so, where were we?”
“you wanna come to mine?”
Now I'm gettin' in the car, wreckin' all my plans I know I should stop, but I can't And I told my friends I was asleep But I never said where or in whose sheets And I pull up to your place on the second floor And you're standing, smiling at the door And I'm sure I've seen much hotter men But I really can't remember when
angel: kms
angel: im so increbibku hungiver
angel: can i gey a ride pls!
dina: bye 😭
ellie: one night stand angel?!?!?!!
angel: whaaaaaaaaaaaaa
dina: send me ur location
angel: …
dina: what.
angel: …can ellie pick me up………….
ellie: whatd u do.
angel: just pelase?
angel: please im begging
ellie: fine
“not telling your friends about me angel?” abby rasped as she wrapped an arm around your waist. you set down your phone and faced her. “good morning.”
“hmm, i missed this.” you confessed as you kissed her. “but ive got work in a couple hours. ellie’s on her way.”
abby groaned and pulled you close to her. “i dont want this to be just a one night stand, angel. i really do like you.”
you leaned back to look her in the face. “we’ll see.” you pecked her lips with a smile. “for now, ellie wont be here for another half hour…”
My brain goes, "Ah" Can't hear my thoughts (I cannot hear my thoughts) Like blah-blah-blah (Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah) Should probably not I should probably, probably not I should probably, probably not
“so,” ellie clears her throat as you get in the passenger seat. “abby anderson then.”
you ignored her as she pulled out of her parking spot. “what’d you and dina do last night?”
“i think i could ask you the same thing about abby?”
you sighed and turned to face her. “promise you wont tell dina?” she hummed but you still weren’t sure. “promise me.”
“fine, i promise.” she groaned, stopping at the red light. “now seriously, what happened to ignoring her?”
“okay, well shes very convincing. and i figured its be good to talk, clear the air?” you sat back in your seat. “but then we got alone and i just missed her. and so she kissed me, and we headed back to her place, and…”
“gross.” ellie shivered, she looked to you for a second as she drove. “look, we just don’t want you to get hurt. i know im still new and we dont know eachother like you and dina, but i care about you.” she smiled softly. “and dina will actually kill abby if she does something. i love her but shes crazy.”
you both laughed before sitting in silence. you turned to music up to drown the peace as ellie drove. as she turned into her parking space you spoke.
“i think its gonna be different this time.”
“yeah?” she unbuckled and looked at you as you nodded. “whatever you say angel.”
Seeing you tonight It's a bad idea, right? Seeing you tonight It's a bad idea, right? Seeing you tonight It's a bad idea, right? Seeing you tonight Fuck it, it's fine
abby: come over tn??

“hi.” she whispered.
“hey.” one of your hands cupped abby’s cheek as you kissed her softly. “missed you.”
“i know, youre so obsessed with me.” she teased, grabbing your waist.
you smacked her chest and scoffed. “excuse me? didn’t you call and text me for weeks after we broke up?”
“couldnt help myself.”
you pushed away from her, going back to your room to grab your stuff. “you’re such a dork.” grabbing your wallet and shoving on your shoes, you headed back out to abby. “ready to go?”

So I have this fic idea of Cas being magically kicked from his vessel somehow and desperately seeking Dean's help, even though he's weak and tired and stuck in his true form and its not like Dean can see or hear him anyway, but he needs him. so he tries to talk.
While Dean's driving.
Of course Dean nearly crashes the car because the windows explode and Sam is clutching at his ears, but Dean can hear something....
He pulls over and Sam's still in pain but Dean can hear....
-ean......... Dea- ....... Dean......... he...lp.....
"Cas?..... Cas, that you?"
And it's weird because the 'voice' sounds nothing like Cas - it's musical and tinkling, like a wind chime in his head - but Dean just knows.
He shouldn't be able to understand. but he can.
"Cas?" He says more desperately.
Dean?......... you........ hear.... me?......
"Yeah buddy, I can hear you. Whats going on? Whats happening?"
Sam, still wincing, says "That's Cas?!"
So Dean eventually leaves Sam with Baby and walks away from the road to get him away from anything breakable.
-orry... Dean..... no choice...... locked..... out....... vessel...... talk..... to........... you....... -eed........ help....
And Dean is absolutely on board to help Cas however he can.
He asks how he can hear Cas' true voice and Cas doesn't know. He asks if he can see him, and Cas says no, because he can't risk his eyes, and Dean points out that if he can understand what he's saying he can probably take a peak without the whole eyes burning up in his head thing.
But the wind chime tinkling can somehow sound exactly like Cas without sounding nothing like Cas when it says. No.
Dean has mixed feelings on how the familiar and unfamiliar overlap. He feels fond. "This is what you really sound like? Like a friggin' music box? That's what blew out all the windows and nearly exploded Sam's ears?"
The following silence shouldn't remind Dean of the squinty eyed stare he knows well, but it does.
So Dean is now the only one who can understand Cas, who is hovering nearby, invisible. he learns how to speak to just Dean so that he stops exploding all the glass around him. and the race is on to find his body and get him back inside before it's too late.
Why can Dean understand him now?? Interesting question.
(He secretly wonders if this is what his prayers to Cas feel like to him.)
He does in fact convince Cas to reveal his true form and of course he can see it just fine. It's a fun moment of really seeing the person you've become so familiar with in a new light. (You know the drill.)
(Also Cas' line about how big his true form is was hugely exaggerating for Samuel's benefit. Angels are big glowing multi-winged bird-like creatures with a halo on fire above their heads.)
Cas has to communicate with Sam via Dean and they have conversations that sound bizarre to Sam because he can only hear Dean's side of it. but it's also kind of normal and on brand for the two of them really.
It'd be a fun time.
When Cas does eventually get his body back Dean gets a little sad about the loss of the voice in his head and the cool bird creature, but he's happy to see his friend is okay. and that he's in a form he can hug with relief now.
then when he goes to sleep that night he has a dream. that Cas walks into. He hints at the reason Dean could understand him (their bond) and thanks him again. Finally they sit together on a sunny grassy hill in Dean's dream - Cas in his true form and Dean petting his feathers gently.

What are some of your favorite novelas, Petty? I grew up loving them too and personally I will ALWAYSSS show up for anything Fernando Colunga is in!
Anon, I'm not giving you some of my favorites. No. I'm giving you my favorite - If you know this bitch (affectionate and derogatory), you KNOW where this is going!
For all the BL people, this is why @italianpersonwithashippersheart, @lukaherehelp, and I are having no qualms about Twins or Playboyy.
Telenovelas, soap operas, y lakorns have trained us well for these shenanigans and hijinks.
Why y'all can't remember twenty-two people's names is beyond me, but I had them down the first episode.
Why y'all don't like the tonal whiplash is odd to me because for me, ten minutes on one couple is TOO MUCH TIME. Six minutes, TOP, and move on to the next one.
Someone getting stabbed in one scene then the next scene being someone celebrating at a birthday party is the way I like my shows, and don't let that person be getting stabbed AT that birthday party because that is my bread and butter.
Oh, and TWINS!
My favorite show includes all of these fine points, and it's the 1998 Mexican telenovela called
La usurpadora
Somewhere in fictional hell, Soraya Montenegro from María la del Barrio is pissed as fuck.
The plot: Paola is a rich bitch and wants to leave her husband for her evil lover but can't figure out how.
¡Sorpresa, cabrona! She meets a worker who looks just like her while on vacation or some shit.
Paulina is the other woman and she is too poor to contour. Therefore, rich bitch Paola convinces kind and caring Paulina to be her stand-in. Paola tells Paulina she will live the best life and be rich, while Paola can be free. It's a win-win.
¡MENTIRAS!
Paulina refuses! So Paola blackmails her into doing it, and with her mother dead, her fiance gone, and no job (since she was fired as part of Paola's blackmailing scheme), Paulina is forced to take the offer. This is like episode 2 out of 102.
In the next 100 episodes, we get forty-five other characters who are all important to the plot, amnesia, cheating, murder attempts, Paola pretending to be paralyzed, Paulina GOES TO PRISON, someone discovers they are actually twins (no duh!), and a crap ton of more drama.
Oh, and the car crash!
But God got Paulina, so she good. Even in the sequel when she had cancer, pero no, she was just pregnant.
The show is based on a 1971 Venezuelan telenovela that was adapted from the book La Intrusa, and has since had several remakes. One was in 2019, which made Paulina Colombian (or was she always Colombian?), and A MUSICAL THIS YEAR!
It holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes because the people know this was a 🎁🎁🎁 from God, and it is not up for debate because it featured men dancing around singing Celia Cruz's "La vida es un carnaval" y Selena's "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom." This movie is the moment.
The lead is Cuban actress Isabella Castillo Díaz who played in America and México's co-produced telenovela ¿Quién es quién?, which is basically the boy version of La usurpadora because of the twins plot. Do you see the theme?
But back to the musical, which also features Drag Race superstar, Valentina. If you know this bitch (affectionate and derogatory), you KNOW!
The 1998 version and musical both embrace the camp of it all. The music in the original 1998 version was peak telenovela, and even if you don't speak Spanish, readers, just watch the first minute of this video. I promise you it will be worth it, and it will give you three perfect examples of the *vibes* I'm always rambling about.
youtube
So, yeah, Anon, I hope this explains a lot of about my taste in BLs. I'm here for a show, not the show. Soraya understands.

Forgotten Muse
Singer!Drummer!Bakugo x F!CollegeStud!Reader
I was filled with a thrill when I witnessed him launch their first piece.
They were all happy, celebrating in their small garage.
He may not show it, but I can see the delight in his eyes when the music hit the trend bringing it to the top 5 most played.
I’ve witnessed everything. How their band became popular, how they write their music saying that it was mostly his work. I remember his saying the support I give him inspires him to create more and how their fans grew. Opportunities are everywhere. Some are even offering them on a world tour.
Everything was going great.
Until I was forgotten.
..
It was the peak of their band. Katsuki always brings me with him on his world tour which you can say I’m really happy about. But this time, I wasn't able to come with him. Why? Because I was a college student taking the track of Nursing. Maybe someday I’ll become a doctor.
Nevermind that.
I was a college student and there are a lot of opportunities knocking on Kastuki’s door. Of course, he’ll snatch it knowing his ambition was to be a well-known celebrity around the world. He wanted to receive awards, praise, and recognition. So he didn't hesitate to accept them.
For his 5th world tour, he told me to come with him because I am his muse. I am the one who he’ll be staring through the crowd.
But I declined.
“What? Why?” Katsuki raised his eyebrow at her as he looked at her ridiculously. “Are you serious?”
“Yes, I am.” You look back at him seriously. “I have an exam for my license, that's why I couldn't go.”
“Just take it some other day. You will come with me.” Katsuki insisted and shift his eyes toward the tv.
“Katsuki. You can only take the exam once a year. I can't miss it.” You said convincing him. “Maybe it's fine if I couldn't come with you just this once. I have to work on my ambition as well.”
“Maybe it's fine if you won't come with me at all.”
His statement made you widen your eyes.
“Fuck your ambition. What about mine-
“Don’t you dare say that.” You said tearing up. “I did nothing but support you as you attain your ambition. You are being selfish!”
“Who said I needed your support?”
What.
“I can do it without you! You're just getting in my way.” Katsuki suddenly stood up as he aggressively grabs his car keys and slam the door shut behind him.
You couldn't believe what you heard. Does the fame make him like that? Does this mean you two are over?
My thoughts was running wild.
Katsuki never returned to our shared apartment. I didn't even know he left for his tour until Kirishima told me.
It breaks me that he can just ignore me like that. All the things he said were still lingering inside my head making me lose focus on studying. But I did what I have to do.
The day of the exam came. This is the day of his band will play. But I couldn't let that bother me.
..
5 hours went by and I finished my exam. I answered everything as much as I can and I know I’ll make it. Everything I studied was on the exam so I was confident I’ll pass.
I went home and finally rest my back on the soft sofa Katsuki and I bought when I suddenly remember the world tour will last for almost 9 hours since they were not the only ones will be performing. So immediately, I turned the tv on and switched to every channel where there was a live telecast of the said world tour.
Finding the right channel made me smile, but what it shows made my heart ache.
There was Katsuki, kissing another woman in his arms.
I couldn't believe what I was looking at.
My eyes started watering as I held my chest tightly. Every throb gives me pain.
It hurts.
I was sobbing. The emptiness of our house wasn't helping me at all. Everything in here screams Katsuki Bakugo.
What did I do to deserve this?
I’ve been nothing but a perfect girlfriend.
When I heard on the tv that their band ended I took my phone out of my bag. With shaking hands, I dialed Kirishima’s number. It rang in a bit until Kirishima can finally answer.
“Hey Y/n..” he sounds sad.
“K-kirishima. What's-
“Y/n. I’ll be honest with you.”
His words made my heart stop beating. Anxiousness was eating me.
“Bakugo, he..” He paused for a moment as if hesitating to say it. “He's not with us. He's with a random girl he saw from the crowd and invited her to his hotel.”
Every breath I take hurts.
“W-we tried stopping him. Believe me! We don't want to tolerate his behavior. But he was just yelling at us not to tell you.”
I was sobbing loudly. This isn't enough. Crying isn't enough to ease the pain.
Kirishima held the call for a moment. I can hear him comforting me, saying it’ll be alright.
No.
It won't be.
Not anymore.
I couldn't bring myself to say this.
It was then I heard a loud bang from the call. I can hear Kirishima, Denki, and even Sero shouting in what seems like Katsuki’s room. Then I heard another loud sound followed by Kastuki’s voice.
“Didn’t I say not to fucking kno-
“Y/n is on the phone,” Denki spoke up.
Everything was quiet for a few minutes until I heard Katsuki speak up.
“You told her..” Katsuki said. Terror filled his voice.
“Katsuki,” Kirishima spoke up. “We’re friends, heck even best buddies since high school. I would go through with anything you do as long as you're not hurting anybody. But this? I’m sorry bro. Y/n doesn't deserve this. She doesn't deserve you.”
Suddenly, I heard a loud smack followed by coughing.
“Bakugo!” I heard Sero.
“We’re just telling you what you're doing is not right!” Sero said.
“Don’t tell me what to fucking-
“Okay! Do whatever you want. We don't care. Let's go Kirishima, Sero.” I heard Denki and suddenly the call ended.
..
Days have passed after the incident. Kirishima messaged me they were going back which scares me.
Why am I scared anyway?
But before I knew it, I heard a jiggle of keys from our front door.
He’s here.
I was in the kitchen preparing my mealwhen he came in. I saw his eyes widen seeing me.
“Y/n..” I heard him whisper.
I averted my eyes away from him to the meal I was cooking. I couldn't look at him in his eyes. It reminds me of what he did.
I saw him take a stride closer to me but I kept my back on him.
Suddenly, he slid his arms around my waist embracing me.
I did nothing though..
