one thing i have to continuously remind myself of is that humanity has only been exposed to the volumes of information and news we have today since like, 1837. Not even two hundred years, which is an insanely short amount of time compared to our existence. we are not meant to process the amount of stimulus, news, and information that we are bombarded with now, and i think this needs to be something that needs to be addressed when talking about advocacy and the way left-leaning activists exist. it is a real fact that the idea of the world collapsing because modern societies are hyper-aware of the chaos going on globally produces a neuroticism in the average person that overwhelms and undermines collective activism. it produces a neuroticism that explodes when material conditions suddenly plummet and people are forced to reckon with the reality of imperialist powers and the damage that they cause.
