follows a woman with ESP who gets onto a reality tv show where she has to stay in a mysterious house and document her stay - and every previous occupant has only lasted three days - and she’s determined to figure out what’s going on and get her abilities taken seriously

she’s quickly drawn to a man working on the show, and they begin a relationship - and she gets caught between him (and his cute 10yo daughter) and the house and her career goals

#Looking for Love in All the Haunted Places #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #asexual books #this is okay! obviously not my kind of book - I rarely read (m/f) adult romance #and I’m always gonna want more of the speculative element lol.#I didn’t super care about the characters - other than the short middle section with Georgia I didn’t really feel her getting to know anyone #She and Maverick are just sort of immediately into each other and the one attempt to keep them apart was a bit silly #- I didn’t feel much development between them.#They’ve known each other for 3 weeks and the idea that (because of work thing) they won’t be able to see each other #for a couple of weeks is some kind of dealbreaker? what? that conflict didn’t really make sense to me.#he sentient house thing was kinda interesting but also after all that the plot seemed easily revolved in the epilogue.#The kid is cute. the cat is cute - though felt like an odd side plot #I thought the exploration of the MC’s asexuality was done well! She talks about her experiences in a way that feels personal to her.#Even if it’s not super for me- I appreciate the existence of a low-conflict Black ace romance.
