"Side girl in an mlm fanfiction (90% chance of having been the main love interest if the source material was het) who is super smart and the only one with her shit together so she helps her dumb gay friends realize their feelings" is a fine trope considering it was effectively a replacement for "that stupid bitch I kill in my story for getting in the way of my ship" but it gets attached to ever single female character regardless of whether it actually fits them or not and I think we should let girls be stupid again.

"Girl is the only one smart enough to notice her gay friends' pining so she makes a plan to get them to confess-" NO. Girl notices pining but is too fucking stupid to see the U in UST and becomes fully (and LOUDLY) convinced her friends have been dating behind her back and gets increasingly angry when they, and everyone else with enough braincells to realize the gay social minefield they're in, tells her otherwise. Makes increasingly ridiculous plans to get them to "uncover the truth" and COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT gets the other 2 idiots to admit their feelings. When they tell her this she STILL believes it's a prank and will continue to do so for the next 25 years.
