helloo how are you doing ?im curious which spiderman (and movies) do you prefer ? I've seen a lot of people saying Holland doesnt measure up to Maguire and neither do his movies. Personally i was pretty young when Maguire's movies came out but i never loved them and spiderman wasn't one of my favorite marvel characters, but Holland's spiderman and movies felt fresh & new (unlike garfield's) and brought a nice lightheartedness to spider man where M's movies to me took themselves too seriously

hello! i’m ok-ish, i hope you’re doing well :3 honestly the tobey maguire movies have a special place in my heart as i grew up watching them (and even the third one is a bit of a guilty pleasure haha), i think the first one is good, the second one is absolutely great in my opinion and holds up after all this time.. the third one is kinda meh but still fun if you don’t take it seriously.. overall... like plot wise i think they are solid movies... but yeah they didn’t capture spidey’s humour well.. though i don’t think they take themselves THAT seriously, there is a lot of self-referential and goofy stuff in those when you catch them, but i agree the tone was often more sombre.. except for the third.. that third one is just an absolute goof fest.. btw this is an edited version of one of the dumbest scenes in the movie and it sends me even more than the original and that says something

as for garfield... his spider-man was a bit more fun when he was like.. being spider-man, he was witty and such which is def a part of the character that maguire’s version didn’t show much... butttttt both the movies were absolutely terrible lol, the plot wouldn’t make sense no matter what they did.. so many things that were just absolutely wrong and stupid, with the second one being even worse than the first... the only thing they really got right was the parts where he would swing around the city, cause the maguire movies lacked in that (also bad cg in those lol)...and garfield wasn’t a nerd in any way, he was more of a lip-biting fuckboi scaterboi and like extremely stupid? like that character is dumb enough to bring a camera that has his name on it and then leave it there for anybody to find lmao...also those movies were corny and heavy handed with all the drama and even american patriotism.. i still remember the overt american flags or good ol’ ‘murrican crane dad and how much me and my sister laughed at the ridiculousness of it all.. and while i remember a lot of the dumb shit, in general the movies are super unmemorable 

but yES HOLLAND.. while i do like the maguire movies......... holland is just absolutely perfect and i have adored homecoming so much and every of his appearances in the other movies.. and personally it’s one of my fav marvel movies alongside the winter soldier and captain marvel.. he kinda has the best of the both worlds? he is funny and quick-witted but also he’s kind of awkward and silly and geeky and smart, though not a total nerd like maguire djhkasjkd obviously... and holland portrays him also in this innocent way where you feel very protective of him and actually really care and worry for him when he’s in danger, regardless of knowing that he will be okay because who would kill spider-man? like even in infinity war.. even though i knew they’d be bringing him back since far from home was already announced.. i was still all teary eyed and hurt and genuinely upset djahjda!!! and in endgame i was so excited when he was back me and my sister SQUEAKED AND AWED AND LIKE.. you are absolutely right that holland’s stuff is very refreshing and lighthearted while still making you invested and carrying enough weight, anddd... honestly he is my favourite spider-man hh...fjdkd i’m sorry for the long rant wow.. i just.. do love spider-man a lot haha.. sorry <3 but thank you for asking
