nolan really seems like he fell off both career wise and mentally. i’m not excusing his behaviour at all but this whole hater mentality and im just assuming dude has a 🌽 addiction (tbh 99% of dudes do they just refuse to admit it) is really common in men who are kinda depressed. his twitter friends seem like real losers who do say they’re kinda depressed in some of their tweets as well and when u surround yourself with ppl like that then u also become like that. all his friends leave during the season so idk how his social life looks like but i can imagine it’s a lot better in the summer time and i truly think those twitter mutuals are not his close besties irl i think they’re more twitter/casual friends who he interacts with online more than irl. i’m sure if his career panned out like TK’s he’d be in a very different place than he is currently. yes the workbench and tuggers comments were something but a lot of dudes send hot girls on their insta group chats and comment on their looks it’s unfortunately the norm. its just his hockey canada comments that really made me mad and showed some serious issues.
! ! ! !
Him being a porn addict could be a solid 50/50 chance I think there is a good amount of people that have one but don't even realise it. Though as you said just assumptions.
His twitter mutual's are a bunch of trolls so even if they're on there talking about being depressed it's probably satire, though they're heavy on the loser part.
Oh fuck trust me I already know he L I V E S for summer because he actually has his actual friends to hangout with for the next 3-4 months. I agree if his career wasn't cut short and it panned out the way that it was supposed to we wouldn't be on here having this conversation.
Yes! I know it sucks some shit is normalised but it's just the reality so I too wasn't phased or shocked by most of what I saw on there. The SA comments/likes were just pathetic and weird, cause it's like bro even if you've got to be lame as shit to be supporting or wanting to joke about that kind of stuff.

hi, i go by kaso (he/she). requesting for the twst and ror boys (with the exception of idia and leona)
im mostly on the neutral centerpoint when it comes to myself. im an introvert. im calm, mellow, down-to-earth. im also observant as i pick up small things n remember them when the time is right. also to js sniff out peoples intentions but its more of the first most of the time.
im a soft-spoken guy. usually im relaxed and unshaken, though my motivation seems to come on a whim ebery other day so i may seem out of it at times. its easy to keep my composure for most things and keep my emotions in check.  i have tendencies to be passive-aggressive when provoked and im kinda stubborn. but im chill and friendly.
its easy for me to pick up from setbacks. im naturally intelligent but i dont really study to keep it.. its not like i dont want because im quite self-aware its just the lack of motivation. im also quite clever when the time comes.. cant explain it but its kinda easy to play the cards right when its laid out in my favour.
i may have an avoidant attachment of the sort im not sure.
when it comes to humour, im genuinely such a corny person and its always a hit or miss for my jokes. its also tinged with satire and sarcasm most if not all the time. i love to laugh and will find anything funny that might come out of your mouth.
i enjoy indulging in my interests, listsning to music, drawing and other things. i dont really have set things i enjoy, i just do whatever makes me happy tbh. i love having fun but it drains me. id try everything once if i could js so i can mak the most of the moment. im quiet when i go abt this though.
i think my greatest fear is being unable to uphold to what ive created and not achieving my dreams.. im not so sure if it truly bothers me though. i experience small emotional highs and lows so maybe thats why.
i cant tolerate critical people who need to call you out for every flaw or people that cant keep their mouth shut. not chatty or talkative people im talking abt those who gossip. trust is a really big thing for me and its honestly a huge turn off.
i love with actions rather than words. i try and take my time with someone and treat them with the best care i can muster. im very passionate abt the things and people i love and i feel and care deeply even if i show it terribly. its in the little things. my love languages are quality time and parallel play.
im not sure if i have a type if im being honest.. never really thought hard on enough.. is not being an ass to other count?? like idk bare minimum wins i suppose.
I pair you with: Adam!
Tumblr media
Calm and open-minded with a bit of a sarcastic kick to him, Adam finds your calm yet stubborn and sarcastic demeanor amusing in a friendly way. He is not very opinionated himself, even towards the gods as shown when he was only fighting for his children, though he respects your opinions nonetheless.
Adam prefers to sit under a tree with you, and tap through music on this device you've labeled as a "Phone" he'd never seen such a thing before though he was also more than interesting to him. Adam would likely eat grapes while listening to music and watching you draw, though I don't think he'd try it out himself.
He is quick to compliment you and finds your drawings interesting. He is chatty 50% of the time, though being more so favoring in quietness himself he understands that you are more introverted. Adam is likely to take you on walks around the forest to enjoy the scenery, and being around multiple animals he would likely teach you the correct way to feed some of them such as having a deer eat an apple out of your hand.
Adams most enjoyable thing about you would be your eyes. They're the window to the soul, or so he claims they are.

Hi, genuinely asking here, since I kinda like your blog, but from the 2 english articles I found about the whole mila situation(it's a French issue, how is the rest of the world supposed to notice it if French people don't bother letting them know?) the uproar is about her being islamophobic af, not about her rightfully telling men to not hit on her or that she is a lesbian. Like, my French is rusty but none of the french articles even care about those parts. What are you going on about?
The uproar is that you have a right to be “Islamophobic” because freedom of speech protects blasphemy. Without this protection, we wouldn't have satirical newspapers, books like Harry Potter (which was officially branded a 'corruptive influence' by the former Pope) or anything Neil Gaiman wrote and mostly 90% of the movies we watch, not to mention random conversations, Halloween costumes, Carnival stuff and so on. I mean I'm guessing that during an ordinary day, you might enjoy an episode of Supernatural or Lucifer, or even watch a movie where two characters briefly discuss whether God is real, or what an asshole He is, and why He lets bad things happen. Next you might participate to an online or RL discussion about the same thing. Depending on your native language and whether swear words are usually about religion or not, you might even blaspheme out right - a stunned 'Porco Dio' when something doesn't go your way. You might scroll past, and 'like', posts that say Christianity fucked the world and deserves to be destroyed, or people insisting God is a woman, trans, a pink wombat. You may see or write angry posts about how all priests are pedophiles, or hiding pedophiles. You might make or enjoy memes about Biblical stuff like Cain and Abel, and reblog gifs from The Life of Brian or one of the thousand offensive jokes there are about Jesus and the 'Virgin' Mary (ahahhahah, poor cuck Joseph). And most likely, you do all of this without a second thought - you consider this a normal and unremarkable part of your life.
Well - it is a normal and unremarkable part of your life - in some Western countries, at least - because we fought the Church and its minions for literal centuries so they'd shut the fuck up and stop annoying and torturing and killing people. I mean in the US they have their own problems, but in Europe I'd say you could call about 70% of the population overt or covert Christianophobes - if such a term had any meaning - simply because they blaspheme every single day. Whether they consider themselves Christians or not, whether they've been baptized and married in a Church or not, on any given day they might dress up as a sexy nun or ironically hang a crucifix upside down or listen to 'empious' music (like all metal and most pop songs) or make a bad joke about a priest or watch a 'corrupted' movie or say they don't give a fuck about God (understood to be, the Christian God), because if He exists, than he's a fickle motherfucker.
What Mila said is not nice. She reacted in anger, she reacted badly, she's also a teen on social media so she's bound to do stupid things and make mistakes. Meanwhile, the thousands of mostly adult men who threatened her with violence are not doing something stupid or making a mistake. They're demanding what Muslims (in Europe, but also in their own countries) have been demanding more and more loudly: that we give them special treatment, suspend our freedom of speech and blasphemy laws, stop criticizing their religion - or fucking else. Because this is not a polite philosophical discussion over cupcakes. People get killed every day for 'disrespecting' Islam - most of them Muslims or ex-Muslims. Please remember Samuel Paty, the teacher who's literally been beheaded in the street for teaching a class that was on the curriculum, and that other teacher in Yorkshire who's been in hiding with his family for months - and will likely never teach again - because he's 'guilty' of the same crime.
(And tbh, 'disrespecting' Islam can be everything and anything. We always think about a certain kind of 'extreme' Charlie Hebdo humour, but there are lots of things that are forbidden depending on who's in charge. For instance, a famous (and devout) Algerian theologian, Saïd Djabelkhir, was recently sentenced to three years in jail for 'offenses' against Islam - for instance, he suggested the story of Noah's Ark could be a metaphor and not an event that truly happened. The horror.)
Legally speaking, 'respecting' someone's religion means the State can't forcibly close a church if people are peacefully practicing their faith. It doesn't mean every single one of us has to stop criticizing, making jokes, writing novels and fanfiction, and yeah - even yelling obscenities because we're all human and we do get angry from time to time - under literal pain of death.
Anyway if you want to learn more about this, I'd suggest you look for the tag 'ex muslim' here on tumblr or on reddit or Twitter. You'll get opinions much more informed than mine on all of this and why the right to blaspheme is so essential.
(Also for future reference, it's not people from country X who have to 'bother' letting the world know what's going on. Instead, you're supposed to have curious, inquisitive, unafraid media who also cover that 98.13% of the world that's not the United States.)

hey! i love your blog and i've read the swiftgron masterpost. i'm kinda wondering what songs (you're pretty sure) are about dianna?
(also i think wanegbt is abt di but it's more of taylor poking fun of her and di's on/off rs rather than a "shady" breakup song. i kind of see some parallels between wanegbt and ayhtdws)
oh yessss last time i got this question it ripped the fandom asunder (kidding but you know people disagree w me)
ok let’s start with Red
SINCE I CLEARLY PROVED AND ESTABLISHED THAT SWIFTGRON WAS NOT ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED UNTIL SPRING OF 2012 BECAUSE BOTH LADIES SEEM TO BE INVOLVED WITH OTHER WOMEN UP UNTIL THAT POINT CLICK HERE FOR PROOF OF ALL OF THAT
it’s fair to say none of the breakup songs are about Dianna
state of grace mentions four blue eyes, a fire sign, and is a breakup song so not dianna
red = breakup song = not dianna
we know IKYWT was not about her because breakup song
taylor said treacherous was about the same person as IKYWT so we cannot claim that song (SADLY I WISH WE COULD IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL) All Too Well = written long before dianna was on the scene and a breakup song so not Dianna
22 = well her damn name is in the liner notes so this is the first song we can canonically claim for swiftgron nation yasssss
I almost do = break up = nope
we are never ever getting back together - this one i waver on.  the indie record line is dianna to a T and it is very light-hearted and almost satirical song.  i think it’s possible it was born out of silly tiff the two had, but one issue with claiming this for swiftgron nation is when taylor wrote the song in June the girls had not been separated for an entire month so the “we hadn’t seen each other in a month when you said you needed space line” would be sort of “inaccurate” (ofc it’s music/poetry so you know taylor could easily fudge that detail/use hyperbole in a song but still now that i know the timeline as well as i do i have to note that) - dianna did tweet about that song so perhaps she was claiming it, perhaps she was just celebrating her girl - i’m undecided here y’all tell me who it’s about
stay stay stay = i’ve heard it was written in 2010 but never seen a receipt.  if it wasn’t then i would claim it. y’all tell me.
the last time = breakup song written just as swiftgron was happily ramping up in spring 2012 = not dianna
holy ground = breakup/reflective song written before swiftgron was together = not dianna (YES i KNOW about the note on the door with the joke they made but i think that’s a coincidence - the song was written before that party)
sad beautiful tragic = nope break up so not dianna
the lucky one = written either right before or right after they got together, supposed to be about joni Mitchell right?  posssssibly inspired a bit by dianna’s experience in Hollywood? but i don’t think so.  this was before she was written out of glee.
everything has changed = YEP swiftgron love ANTHEM.  (i think it was originally written for liz with her Gemini status and green eyes but taylor flipped the lyrics and dianna tweeted that bitch the day red came out it’s HERS)
starlight = about the Kennedys but maybe a hint of the swiftgron early love story hidden in there begin again = swiftgron love anthem!!!  come back... be here = swiftgron love anthem!
the moment i knew = no
girl at home = no
now for 1989
welcome to ny = not dianna but it’s a skip anyway so who cares? it’s a friendship song about appreciating the city and maybe hints of karlie
blank space = nope satirical reflective song
style = yes cam’s fav thankfully is a swiftgron anthem!!!
out of the woods = i used to think was a song ab bearding with harry but just last night while recording a pod ep i decided no it’s a swiftgron song! listen to it today click here
all you had to do was stay = yep and tbh (aside from babe) that’s as bad as it gets for our girl i personally think.  taylor has dropped some absolute DISS TRACKS about exes and people she has beef with but dianna never got put on blast compared to mad woman, should've said no, dear john, among others
shake it off = nope and skip
i wish you would = yep about dianna driving by her house after they were broken up in fall of 2013
bad blood = i kind of do think this is about katy perry but it’s not about a business dispute idk i don’t know how to exactly explain but it’s a vibe
wildest dreams = song about karlie that she wrote through the lens of just having had a rough breakup with dianna “i can see it ends as it begins” she’s nervous at the start because she’s scared kaylor will end the same way, but in general it’s about karlie tho the hint of a swiftgron breakup is in the air
how you get the girl = yep about dianna (supposedly proposing tho tbh i don’t know if i believe that)
this love = yep about her and dianna reuniting in fall 2012 i know places = so i know supposedly kimby kloss liked a tweet that said it was about karlie (haven’t seen the receipt but whatever) but kaylors gotta pick blue or green eyes.  dianna has green eyes.  taylor starts singing about blue eyes when she gets with karlie, and also taylor writes the line “we are the foxes” i believe she had already written that line or had it planned out when she wore that stupid fox sweater when she was out with harry in nyc because she was planning on people tying that lyric back to that day and tie the song to harry because she’s insane like that:
Tumblr media
so if she had already written the line at the time of this hangout the song is about dianna (or you know...harry if you’re into that but if you are why are you on this blog bye)
clean = yes swiftgron breakup anthem
wonderland = i think about kellie pickler
you are in love = about karlie but early drafts supposedly contained the lyric you were in love so maybe originally about looking back on her relationship with dianna but taylor firmly gave it to karlie with that Instagram post
new romantics = just about friends and fun and should have replaced welcome to ny
OTHERS:
babe obviously
and i think you can make differing strengths of arguments for other post 1989 songs but none i would lose sleep over someone telling me it wasn’t dianna
so it goes..., death by a thousand cuts, and the 1 are the ones i think there are the strongest arguments for
also i think lea michele’s songs battlefield and on my way are about her but who asked
also thank you for loving my blog this blog loves you back!
also to be clear i don’t know for sure who any songs are actually about let me make it clear that this is just my best guess and opinion
also the thing ab wonderland being about kellie pickler was a joke it’s obviously the loudest most obnoxious swiftgron song in existence

Yugioh Season Zero: Seto Kaiba's First Kidnapping
It’s Christmas vacation, I have Mannheim Steamroller on repeat, so much chocolate just an arms reach away from me. And I have purposely given myself nothing to do as an attempt to teach myself to do nothing.
So lets watch something weird and revisit Zero.
For those new here, I have been also reviewing most of Season Zero. If you don’t know what that is, you can my recaps in order by clicking this link here.
And like last time, I am not actually affiliated with Team Millennium, and I hope they don’t mind that I am capping their episode. You can find them on Youtube where they are slowly redubbing this season into English, and um--this next episode is the last episode they have! So I don’t know how I’m going to recap the rest?
Probably the same way I did in the first episode where it’s a lot less dialogue and more just...my reaction to it.
And, as always, my disclaimer for the new people that this was made in the 90′s and based off of the OG manga and it is...not the same show. It’s problematic. Why wouldn’t it be? It’s a counter-culture anime from the 90′s. Though this episode is pretty tame, honestly. Weird, but tame.
So, we start off the episode with a very lovingly drawn sky, not sure why it’s on THIS show but it’s here. This post apocalyptic sunset.
Tumblr media
And staring directly into this sun going supernova is Seto Kaiba in his green hair, just brooding...
Not sure how he has this view from his Pemberly style mansion, but I dunno, maybe the city is visible from the backyard, or Seto just has really good vision. Either way don’t worry about it, we see Seto vibe out and visualize weird stuff all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, spurned by his hate for his classmate that beat him in cards once, Seto decides it’s time to enact his revenge by...what sounds a lot like some weird Lord of the Rings Lore and I dunno if it’s a bad translation or I just don’t really know what the hell he’s going off about because I never read the Yugioh version of the Silmarillion. Probably both.
See, while the first couple episodes of this show have different variations on Youtube, this one really only had the Team Millennium version in English (which is fine, there’s just some confusing things) and then the other version I saw skipped half of the episode because I guess they decided this part was boring or something. So forgive the fact that I’m flying on the seat of my pants here and I assume y’all will know all the deets I don’t know. For once, my contribution will be...kind of a lot less words.
So lets get right to it.
(read more under the cut)
Tumblr media
Seto, who is in so much denial from Seasons 1-4, that I’ve headcanoned is actually cursed to never admit magic is real, has decided to call upon the (checks notes)
4 Game Masters
Yeah, that’s a new mechanic, these are a thing now. Don’t worry if you never heard of them before, I’ve been capping this show and I also have never heard of the legendary 4 magical Game Masters either.
Tumblr media
So at this point these statues start glowing all creepy, and because it’s Yugioh I just kinda assumed...they’d do something.
I’m starting to think that maybe that was supposed to be symbolic, actually. Maybe there was never actually magic in the statues. Maybe it’s part of Seto hallucinating, as always. This whole show kind of runs on being a sort of metal fever dream whenever people get intense about games, so I’m probably not supposed to align it with any established magic laws anyway. It’s just I never know when things are real or just aesthetics, which I enjoy, quite a bit, that it’s open ended--but still it’s somewhat confusing as to if these gargoyles are...a thing now or were just always set dressing to kind of remind us of the cards that come later in the episode.
But, remember the spooky indoor gargoyles in your mind, keep it there, these menacing gargoyles over a fiery sunset...
OK now lets meet the real villain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There he is. Our villain. And his name? Ripley Sheldon.
MAN to go from spooky gargoyles to Ripley Sheldon. There’s a name. That’s a name all right. I’ve only seen one episode of Big Bang Theory but Sheldon is a name forever ruined for me.
So--sidestory--this one time, my friend was at a wedding in Santa Cruz, which is a pretty beachy hippie town that always smelled like weed before it was legal, and there was just...a doll at the wedding. My friend was seated at a dinner party table just right next to this doll, and the family was like “Ah yes, this is the doll, you have to speak to her. She’s a member of the family.” and my friend had to suffer roleplaying with this doll for hours.
So before you’re like...there’s no way grown ass adults are this weird with dolls in public.
Yes. It happens.
Tumblr media
Ah, and it’s the first instances of the Kaiba Corp logo and it’s the same. Complete with helicopter, because that Logo is never done until it’s surrounded by a fast military vehicle of some sort.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh great.
Yo remember that one episode where Yugi almost got his legs chopped off by Arcana and Arcana’s wife was being held behind a curtain, and at the end of the episode Arcana pulls back the curtain and his wife was a manikin the whole time and her head fell off?
Getting those vibes.
Tumblr media
Back at school, Miho is busy being the most manipulative human being, this time with losing at cards. Like y’all I am TRYING to give Miho the benefit of a doubt here, but it seems even the translators hated Miho so much they had her refer to herself in the 3rd person. I am trying, really I am, sorry to everyone who loves Miho, I will leave that door open as I watch these--that maybe Miho will...grow on me.
But not this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then this happened. I guess from the breeze of Honda leaning over too far.
Tumblr media
Believe it or not, Yuugi’s vertigo will come back later in this very episode. This whole bizarre scenario was just foreshadowing.
But for reals, Yuugi is so FRAIL in Season Zero. While I appreciate the contrast between Yuugi and Yami Yuugi, I gotta recognize how much Yugi has evolved over 4+ seasons because Yuugi is just...eggshells. Every part of him is polite little eggshells.
But in contrast, you have Anzu who is ready to fight in every single scene she’s in and I’m OK with that.
Tumblr media
That and the very clear romantic direction that is just...simple. It’s very simple in Season Zero. That’s nice.
Anzu isn’t even possessed by two ghosts. In fact, between Anzu and Yuugi right now, there are 0 ghosts. So weird. So kosher.
Speaking of weird,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y’all, I have no explanation for this. I only know so much Kanji.
The translation I watched tried so very hard to do what they could with this, and kudos to them, but...this is what happens with translation, it’s just a very hard job sometimes. So I get how they decided to form this joke into English, but if anyone is like a Japanese speaker and gets the pun that was clearly happening here, feel free to youknow, share the knowledge.
Unfortunately the undubbed episode that exists on Youtube that I found edited out this part so they didn’t have to try and translate it, lol. Either way, I appreciate Orange Jounouchi a lot, as well as the background squids on Squid Jounouchi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can you imagine just being in high school, and you get summoned to the Nurses Office? Can you even imagine what rumors would start from that? Like I know Seto wants revenge against Yuugi through cards, but I think he just did. I think he did like maybe one of the worst things you can do to a High Schooler just now. May as well page over the intercom that Yuugi has to pick up his yeast infection ointment.
Tumblr media
And this is where we meet...a ridiculous satire. This 30 year old beautiful woman flirting with a child disaster who cannot balance while seated on a low chair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And predictably, Yuugi lost because things just got THAT weird and awkward. Dunno if the translators put that in there for fun, or if that’s honestly how it was in the original. My bet it was probably exactly that weird in the original. Mostly because this show has a lot of “stranger danger” set ups to teach little children to never trust bad adults and this just seemed like exactly that type of set-up. Don’t trust the overly nice nurse or she’ll steal your cards in a game, kids.
After this really awkward card game (and I’m not going to bother to dive into it because I don’t talk about the card mechanics here), we find out...that Seto’s just been staring at them...the entire time.
Like it has such a voyeuristic vibe to it, it really makes you wonder about Seto’s whole deal just an awful lot. Like Season 1-4 doesn’t really ship Yugi/Kaiba, in my opinion (and just my opinion, I know how y’all feel about the ship and that is a-ok, all ships are welcome here)...but Season Zero ships A LOT. It’s not a serious ship by any means, it’s clearly a crack ship, but they...very clearly know what they’re doing with Seto being this obsessed with Yuugi in this way, omg. It just sounds like a kink to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, ways to beat Yuugi Muto:
steal his stuff halfway through the game, try to kill yourself, rock paper scissors, try to kill Joey Wheeler, or dress up a sex doll like a nurse and have a gross old man have it play cards while he makes a sexy lady voiceover.
Tumblr media
(Y’all I’ve been to my share of arcades in my life and I think I’ve only seen like 6 pinball tables total. Do good arcades only exist on TV? I think it’s all a lie.)
Then, because I guess this episode wasn’t going anywhere, Yuugi goes to the arcade to play some video games. The video game is unimportant, and it’s never been brought up before, but he’s dead set on finding it. Because unlike Yugi, Yuugi just doesn’t really have a goal in this series so he just kind of flutters around until someone tells him what to do.
TBH that’s a pretty 90′s thing for a show or a movie to do. To have characters just exist and have things happen to them, but in all, they’re just...wandering. So it’s not so much a knock on the show, it’s just that sometimes it’s a little of a transition to go from a goal being something physical, like finding the lost city of Atlantis before every human’s soul is absorbed into the great Leviathan, to the goal being more of a mental acceptance--Yuugi just learning to accept this curse he doesn’t even know he has yet, and trying to find acceptance in his group of friends.
With Yuugi, we’re kind of just watching his daily life, which is mostly watching him try and sneak games into every spare moment that his local adult has turned around. It has a very slice of life feel to it, but minus the near constant innuendo slice of life tends to have (at least the ones that have been recommended to me)
Now, because this is a show about people getting a real EXTREME comeuppance every time they break the law, what will happen to Yuugi for ignoring his Grandpa’s wishes and going to the arcade before going home?
First, we meet this mushroom haired person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s right kids, NEVER stop by the arcade on the way home from school--1.) The local arcades are almost always 90% boring racing games and busted shooters that came out on the Nintendo 64 when I was a child and 2.) You will get abducted.
And then we get this face swap.
Tumblr media
Kaiba just really loves dress-up. No wonder he was hanging out with a guy super into dolls. And like, I went into before how Seto Kaiba is always doused in facsimile energy. He loves faking it up, and apparently that’s been true since Zero.
He introduces that he will have four challenges from four Game Masters and uh so welcome to the...I don’t where this is, but a weird place full of dolls that must exist somewhere in Domino.
Tumblr media
I guess this is to make it seem like they have an audience to watch Yuugi fail but even still...what?
Tumblr media
So we get kind of a mirror to the scene at the beginning with Miho crying and Honda telling Yuugi to apologize for beating her, except replace Miho with Seto and Honda with this guy who really likes dolls (and Miho is a lot like a cursed doll). Like, if there were a theme to this episode it’s “grow up and stop apologizing when you beat someone in a card game” which isn’t a terrible theme, especially in this show that is about Yuugi learning how to adult.
In fact the “grow the hell up” theme is so strong we have a villain who is just...a big baby who carries dolls around. Kinda makes you wonder if the show would have eventually had Yuugi just...grow out of toys and games completely for the finale. Like in the Yugioh we have now, he can’t, because first off they licensed a hell ton of toys, but also because Yugi does games for his actual job. Even if Pharaoh was gone, Yugi still has to play games all the time. In this case, he could just...be using the games to learn how to do adult things, which is actually why we give kids games in the first place.
But, speculation aside, it’s at this point that a card play knocks Yuugi off of his chair and he passes out. Despite the fact that this isn’t a Shadow game and there...shouldn’t be any magic present. In fact, I don’t think any part of this game in this episode required opening the door of darkness. When he switches to Yami shortly after falling off of his own chair he’s like...yeah this is fine. Seems all above board. No need to kill anybody
And then apparently there’s a type of Dual Monster’s card I was unaware of.
Tumblr media
A doll-type.
Tumblr media
So I looked it up, is there a doll type card in Yugioh?
And it seems like there’s a lot of dolls, but not like...a type, as far as I can tell. Again, I don’t play this game, I’m only here for the plot and this one just seemed like they really had to reach for Yuugi to have just the right type of card to play.
And again, because this wasn’t a Shadow Duel, our loser just kind of walks away...all the way back to Britain, I guess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Seto just stands there behind a window in a rainstorm to allude to his many unshed salty tears, and it cuts to Miho who I guess has learned not to cry when she loses to Yuugi now.
And then she pulls out an absolutely winning tactic. This would win, actually. It’s actually genius.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that is a very strong
Tumblr media
From me. Wow. No thanks. I actually don’t want to see Yuugi do a kissy face ever again, thank you.
Half of you loved that though. This is fine. We’re all different.
Anyway, I assume the game was never played, or Miho won and the show just decided not to show it. If Season Zero Yuugi is a Yuugi that makes out then...that is...shocking. Then again, we’re only like...a third of the way through? I think?
Anyway, it’s...after Christmas because I went out of town for a spell, but I’ll just...post this now. Last post before the new year.
I’ll see y’all in 2020!

Glee Season 1 Wrap Up (Part 2)
Alright - let’s do this and see if I can actually manage to be concise, lol.  So, I wrote up a ranking - now I’m kinda looking at arcs as a whole.  It’d be too hard to rank those, so I’m just talking a little about each.
Front 13 v Back 9
It’s no secret that I prefer the Back 9 episodes over the first batch.  The Front 13 focuses so heavily on the two love quadrangles - at the expense of pretty much everything else, that I get bored really easily.  And - dare I say - the Front 13 might actually be my least favorite part of the show.  Yes, that’s right, I’d rather watch Season 3 again (lol).
The Front 13 does have things going for it - it’s very funny (on it’s first run - subsequent viewings don’t always help).  It’s tightly written.  The stories make sense (well as much as a fake baby makes sense).  And it’s good, solid television.  I can see why people fell in love with it.  But - as you may have noticed in my rankings, I have a hard time being bored, and now that I’ve seen the show a million times, I get bored too easily.
I will say - having some distance from watching the episodes, and doing it at a weekly pace, helps me enjoy it more.  The episodes feel fresher, and as much as I whine, I still had fun with the rewatch of the F13.
Meanwhile, the Back 9 just comes alive.  The show gets a bit crackier, the focus shifts more to the kids, and the pace speeds up.  But you know what else I noticed? As the show develops the characters a bit more, I feel like there’s a bit more emotion running through the Back 9.  I know we joke about Glee being one big cartoon, but the F13′s humor was often darker humor related to stereotypes.  By the B9 - the characters get to be fleshed out more, and become more like real people - and I dig that more than the dark sitcom-ish vibe of the F13.
Kind of as aside, not really sure where to add this, one thing I find interesting about season 1 is that it seems to be this show that’s simultaneously trapped in the 80s, while still being relevant on current events - and very much being a product of the 2010s.  That aspect of it makes it a bit unique and nostalgic at the same time, and it’s a super fascinating way to look at the show.
Will as a Problem of the Narrative
Look, we all know Will is a problem -- the ‘I Hate You Will’ meme is prevalent within fandom.  You would think that the first season would make him a bit more sympathetic since he is the original main character.  I mean kinda - but he’s still frustratingly selfish, nearsighted about everyone else around him, and, well, just not that great.
But after doing some thinking, I came to the realization -- this is an issue with American television in general -- adult characters are not allowed growth.  Think about it.  In high school shows, the kids grow up, learn, and change.  But when we watch adults, more specifically adults in sitcoms, - the writers hit the reset button.  Did the characters of Friends really change all that much in the ten years they were on the show?  Or Modern Family? Or The Big Bang Theory? I mean - there will be slight changes, but nothing major.  (Some writers do - both The Office and Parks and Rec show growth in their characters, but I also think those are better sitcoms for it.)
Anyway - my point is that Will falls victim to the fact that for the sake of conflict, he doesn’t really get any kind of character growth that sticks, and that what makes his character so hard to watch - even in season one.
In addition, instead of framing Will as a teacher who loves teaching, they frame him as a performer who never made it out of Ohio, and is frustrated with never having gotten out of the place he grew up.  And while there’s some reality in that -- I’m still side-eyeing the show any time they give him accolades for being a great teacher.
Also, there’s the whole ‘Be a Man’ thing that Will gets saddled with.  But...more on that later.
To no one’s surprise - Will being front and center most of the time amplifies all these issues leading to me not really caring much about the story and hence boredom.
Will/Emma/Ken/Terri & Finn/Rachel/Puck/Quinn -- a Redundant Love Story for The Ages
It’s basically the same story only time displaced - with a chance for the high school kids not to make the same mistakes as the adults.  The adults being a cautionary tale.  Funny, I think the kids, at some points, are more mature about what’s going on in their relationships than the adults.
Outside the satirical nature of it - I find it all kind of tedious to sit through, tbh, and as I said before, what makes the F13 kind of hard at times.  I realize I’m supposed to care about these relationships.  Guess what - I don’t.
However -- Glee and it’s parallels.  Damn.  There’s, like, an entire thesis paper waiting to be written about these Quadrangles and how Glee masterfully pulls off writing the same story twice at the same time.
Also worth noting, the two Quadrangles both embody two of the main themes of season one: 1. Be a Man and 2. It’s Okay to Be a Loser (or the HS Hierarchy Stuff)
I don’t know why the show needs to prove so hard what being a real ‘man’ is - especially when the real men of the show don’t usually have to deal with this stupid trope, but I find myself rolling my eyes every time it gets brought up.  And the focus isn’t a favorite of mine -- unfortunately, another point against the F13.
Meanwhile - I was never really interested in the whole HS Hierarchy stuff, and what it is to be cool.  Geez, now I’m being redundant as I continue to say that the themes brought up in the F13 just don’t interest me at all.  Good thing there was all this music to keep me distracted...
Ken and Terri & Puck and Quinn - Mean Girls
Ryan Murphy has this weird obsession with awful popular people.  I don’t know why.  I don’t think it’s as interesting as he does - but I’m guessing he had some deep issues with these people in high school because this trope is used outside of Glee and in abundance.
Something I think is interesting though - going back to my point about Will.  Ken and Terri don’t get to be more than the stereotypes that they are.  And because they’re probably (possibly) the most annoying characters on the show - the writers had enough sense to drop them after after the F13.  But I do think it’s interesting, also, that Ken and Terri are the real ‘losers’ of the show -- and they’re the ones who were popular in high school.  The point is made pretty loudly, but I never hear people talk about it much.
Meanwhile, Puck and Quinn are pretty much on the road to being Ken and Terri - but the show, probably knowing these characters needed to stick around, got the growth and development that Ken and Terri didn’t, and even in season 1, seeds of - they’re not going to turn out to be as ‘loser-ish’.
I don’t really care all that much about Puck or Quinn, but I will say they were pretty unwatchable (for me) in the F13, and they became much better characters in the B9.  Though, helping this is the fact that neither gets a whole lot to do.  But they soften both of them to make the more likable - and it works, I don’t mind them so much in the B9.
Emma - The Non-Main Character
I love Emma - and it’s weird to me that she isn’t more of a main character (I mean she is in season 1, but that fades quickly).  It’s great that they have female character, good at her career, but struggling a bit in her personal life, and who has a mental health issue to deal with but is still seen as desirable.  I also love the fact that she has issues with sex.  There’s a lot of great things with Emma. I’m just sorry she’s tied to Will for the entire show, because she’s smart and likable and one of the few really ‘good’ characters on the show.   I’m sad that she doesn’t get to do much outside of being accessory in Will’s story.  It’ll change a little in season 2, but not much.  :(
I don’t really have much to say about Wemma.  It starts out as a standard will-they, won’t-they but it doesn’t pull my attention much.  I will say that the final moment of Sectionals, however, is a beautiful moment -- and the Glee, when it wants to, has the ability to pull off some fantastic romantic moments.
Sue Sylvester - Comedy Villain in a Realistic World
It’s no surprise that when you have a very talented and funny Jane Lynch on your show, you’re going to do what you can to give her a fair amount of material.  I get that.  And I give season 1 credit -- Sue might be one of the funniest characters on the show in season 1.  She worked as the villain and as a counter to Will, as well as allowing the show to have a mouthpiece for things they felt the main characters couldn’t say.  It worked.  She worked.  Jane Lynch worked.
My issues with Sue are more with later seasons, when they run out of things to do with her, and make a fourth-wall breaking farce, but I’ll save that rant for later.
I will say - I do enjoy her humanizing interactions with her sister and with Becky, and it’s a shame the show didn’t latch on to that more often.  Because Sue got hit with the reset button harder than any other character.
Finn & Finchel
Finn is pretty much tied to Will in every season, but season 1 is in much abundance.  Fortunately, Finn fares better than Will does.  Finn needing a father figure, and direction, is more sensical than Will using Finn as a way to relive his youth, while treating Finn simultaneously as a best friend and son. I don’t think I like Finn all that much, but Cory Menteith is incredibly endearing -- and makes me care a bit more than I actually would.  Finn is, perhaps, the most rounded character to begin with - and shows more competence as a leader than Will ever does.  It’s funny, to me, for as much as these two are paralleled, Finn getting to grow and have an actual arc makes him much more interesting.
Finn also has the benefit of having a more complete world around him -- his story isn’t stuck in the Quadrangle, his stories outside of it (mostly with his Mom and Kurt, but also the more fleshed out story with Rachel) make it much more interesting.
So yeah.  Go season 1 Finn!
Also - they were definitely setting up Finn to grow through this series long arc of hating being in a small town to being okay that that is his lot in his life.  (And it is sad we didn’t get to see that play fully out.)  Because unlike Will -- who kind of hates that he’s never moved on, Finn seems to come full circle rather nicely.
So Finchel.  Believe it or not, I think Finchel is quite endearing in season 1.  And -- dare I say -- I like it more in the F13 than the B9.  I’ll always prefer Finchel as a story about two high schoolers who learn from each other in HS, but move away from each other later in life, and that Finn and Rachel, ultimately, don’t have a whole lot in common, but there moments in early s1 are sweet, and there’s a bit of chemistry there that I don’t see later on in the show.
I can even pinpoint when I start to really not care about Finchel -- in Hello, between the introduction of Jesse St. James and making Finn kind of a douche (or paralleling him a little too close to Will).  But in the meantime, I can honestly say that Finchel was one of the more enjoyable parts of season 1.  Weird huh.
Rachel Berry - Before They Were Stars
Another aspect of season 1 that I liked? Rachel Berry.  Before the show started handing her things on a platter because she /was/ Rachel Berry -- Rachel was a character you could root for.  No, she wasn’t the most likable character on the show, but she struggled, and we saw that she worked hard to get things.  She was also uncompromising in her desires - something not often shown as a) positive or b) in women.
Also helping her out is that she gets to have a story arc outside (or maybe beyond is a better word) the Quadrangle.  She has developed relationships with pretty much everyone on the show and that helps her be a well rounded character.
As an aside -- it’s interesting to me, for as much as everyone is paralleled with everyone else on the show, I don’t see a whole lot of parallels between Rachel and Emma.  There are some, both of them wanting someone they feel they can’t have, both of them wanting things too much, and both feeling like outsiders.  But I feel like those are generalizations of two vastly different characters.  Interesting.
Mercedes, Artie, and Tina - The Back Up Singers
It’s funny to me -- that when the show was first airing, Mercedes, Artie, and Tina (and Kurt - but more on him in a minute) were used a lot in ads.  These actors did a lot of press, etc, etc.  And the whole notion of the show being for kids who didn’t fit in was a big angle for marketing.  So, it’s interesting that the F13 barely features any of them.  But I do think they are much more interesting than the Parallel Quadrangles.  Each of these characters has a unique set of characteristics - and yeah, a lot of it stemmed from stereotypes, which were fleshed out more in the B9.  But I appreciate these characters even being around - because if they weren’t there, the show would be (IMO) pretty bland.
Interestingly, in the B9, each of these three do get their fair share of screentime and development.  Unfortunately, they don’t make it out from the ranks of the B-list characters (idk - there might be some irony there).  But they’re good characters, Mercedes especially, and I do enjoy them more than a lot of what’s going on with the A-plot.  I’m just sorry they never really got out of the shadow of the rest of the other characters.
Kurt Hummel - Scene Stealer
Obviously, Kurt’s story in season 1 is my favorite story arc.  I’m sure anyone who has been to my blog could have guessed that in about two seconds.  And elsewhere is fully documented why.  His relationship with being different, and how that ripples in his personal life - with family and friends - and how he deals with that is a fantastically told story, not to mention one having a ton of heart and care.  I love Kurt, and season 1 Kurt gets to have such wonderful development, and it’s only the first portion of a much larger story of a really fantastic character.
But here’s my thing about Kurt.  He wasn’t a part of the original story.  And because of that, a lot like Rachel, having his own story and his own development - he’s not locked into being apart of a boring and/or tired story (re: Quadrangle).  He somewhat exists outside the main narrative (though obviously has his ties within) and I think that really helps his character stand out in season 1.  But I also think it’s interesting that this character, who in the first incarnation was much of a stereotype, got to break free first, and is one of the best written characters on the show.
He’s also so damn entertaining.  Giving the character life in the background is an art - but I should gush about Chris Colfer’s acting later.
But in all honesty - I probably wouldn’t have kept watching this show without Kurt.  His story (like to so many others) reminds me of my own in a lot of ways.  And I think he was resonant with so many people in a way that a lot of the other things going on in season one weren’t.  He helped give the show depth and emotion, and helped it grow beyond the cartoonish dark comedy of early season 1.  There are a lot of things I enjoy about season 1, but I love Kurt’s story, and I probably wouldn’t be sitting here still talking about it if it weren’t for Kurt.
Brittana and other Background Stories
One of the things stemming out of being bored with the main plot lines is that one has a tendency to gravitate towards what’s going on in the background.  Most shows - it’s not much.  Glee -- has a plethora of stuff going on.  Kurt gets a lot of the credit (rightfully so), but there’s a ton of interesting things happening.
Brittany and Santana don’t get enough credit for their early season 1 stuff.  They have virtually nothing to do - but they’ll nail one-liners and/or do fascinating stuff sitting there in the background.  One reason they became such prevalent characters, and they start to become those starting with the B9, is because they’re doing things that people take notice of.
Santana’s still too mean in season 1 for me, though layering over the fact that she’s a closested lesbian makes for a more interesting story upon rewatch, and Brittany really isn’t much of a character as she is a walking one-liner machine, but both characters make themselves visible in a huge cast - and I have to give them a lot of credit for that.
Meanwhile at the other end of things are Mike and Matt.  Interestingly, I think Mike does seem to have more of a personality, and more of a presence, as well as a great acting ability, that helped him come out from the shadows a bit -- whereas Matt completely faded into the background to the point that I often forgot he was there.  It’s no surprise to me that Mike became a bigger character while Matt left before season 2.
Guest Starring - Broadway Role Call
I can’t say that I’m really that attached to any of the guest stars on the show - but something I give Glee credit for in season one is grabbing guest stars who have ties in with Broadway.  And I think that’s a pretty cool route to go.  I may have not liked their characters all that much, but at least they can sing, and I can enjoy that.  :)
Except Molly Shannon.  I still don’t get that.
Jukebox Musical
So, obviously, music plays a huge part of this show.  I’ve talked other place about how music is used differently in the F13 vs the B9 (check out TDB’s Music of S1 special!) so I won’t get into that here.
Season 1 probably has the lowest amount of songs from it on my play list - there’s just a lot of pop music I don’t really enjoy, and Will rapping, and just stuff I’m not really into.  Not to mention a lot of the music is Rachel, Finn, and Finn and Rachel heavy (which isn’t a sound I’m really into).
But I think one thing season 1 does right is how it uses it’s music.   And it’s interesting to see all the creative ways they try to be realistic about how they use music on the show.  Not to mention, each of the episodes didn’t have the mandated 5-7 songs, which left time for both the music and the story to breath.
And then starting in the B9 - they began to get more creative in how they integrated music within the story.
On a Macro Level
Season 1 is probably the most consistent the show ever is written, and possibly, has the best straight up comedy.  But the extreme focus on paralleling Quadrangles, the ‘Be a Man’ trope, and the whole ‘loser’ main themes kinda bore me (personally).
Kurt’s story, all the b-characters, background moments, and music I’m here for, in the F13, and I can kinda leave all the rest.  The B9, though, gets us into the style of the rest of the series, and I’m here for that.

Another glimpse of hell - mean (and some not-so-mean) nicknames on the Chinese gymternet TAKE 2.
DISCLAIMER:
1. Do not read this if you are easily offended by mean names, satirical jokes or dark humour.
2. The Chinese gymternet culture, and its internet culture as a whole, is very different from the ones on tumblr. Partly due to its insularity, certain terms used in the Chinese gymternet could come across to you as too rude or brass or unacceptable. However, please also take into account the difference in the cultural aspect as well. As a common dweller in the Chinese gymternet community, I can promise that 95% of the satirical teasings or mean names created by the Chinese has no derogatory intention. The truly degrading, racist or sexist nicknames have also been filtered out by me, so rest assured.
So now, if you are ready, please read on:
——————————————–The line to hell——————————————-
A. Foundation Course Chapter 2
1. 美x~; Pretty x~; adj.
Right. So you call someone a pretty something. But it also could mean “pretty” aka fugly something. No one knows if you are genuine about it, and so after awhile the expression took on a warped connotation. Both fans and haters use it. Decipher its true meaning before replying anyone on the forum!
E.g. Pretty ___ fell two times on beam today, made my day!
2. 水x~;Watery x~; adj.
In Chinese terms, if you “inject water” into something, you will make it less substantial, less genuine, less real and less deserving. So if someone are “watery”, people are inferring that she or he is overscored and undeserving of his credentials. Some fans nonetheless use it on their beloved ones as friendly teasing or a show of humility.
3. xoP - noun.
So the official rules of artistic gymnastics are written in the Code of Point (CoP). Some fans, however, like to invent their own rules (or twisting the meaning of existing rules) on judging a routine. As such, people would say that so-and-so have invented their own xOP to judge routines. One particular notorious member in the Chinese gymternet community has the ID lldtt06, and hence whatever he says, people will reply:
“Oh wow Mdm6 is judging routines based on his 6oP again!”.
(some famous rules of 6oP include - there should be deduction whenever one does shap to pak because its so “trite”, and many others lmao)
4. 烟花 - fireworks - noun.
Used to describe gymnasts who just can’t finish a routine without falling. The Chinese gymternet sometimes use the term “explode” to describe routines with falls (e.g. Seda’s beam exploded again!). So for those who routinely fall in their routine, they are called fireworks. Also used to describe routines that fail spectacularly.
e.g. “The beam routines of Seda are one hell of a firework performance, simply stellar - I’m in awe!”
———————————————————————————————————–
B. Country related mean terms: (used only to describe radical fans)
HOW DO PEOPLE CALL TEAM AMERICA?
池塘 - pond - noun.
Many think that certain American gymnasts are overscored. A pond has lots of water. Now look at the second bullet point in the foundation chapter - Do you get it now?
HOW DO PEOPLE CALL THE (RADICAL) FANS OF TEAM AMERICA?
蝌蚪 - tadpole - noun.
Originally used to mock Liukin’s fans because Liukin’s nickname is froggy (if you remember from my last post!), the term has been expanded to embody all die-hard/radical American fans.
莲子 - lotus seed - noun.
You know, lotus grows from pond and produces lotus seed. Yep.
HOW DO PEOPLE CALL THE (RADICAL) FANS OF TEAM RUSSIA?
鹅粪 - Goose poo - noun.
A pun of 俄粉, or Rus Fans. This term though has been picked up by Russian fans themselves as self-teasing, so its no longer a mean nickname…kind of.
Ruslut - noun.
Only the meanest Russian haters use this. Most people who use this are radical American fans so Russian fans often retaliate by calling them Uslut back.
HOW DO PEOPLE CALL THE (RADICAL) FANS OF TEAM ROMANIA?
火葬粉/火苗 - Cremnator/Little flames (Though I think kindling is a better translation, meaning wise)
So in my last episode I talked about this Bulimar set a cremation spell on Team Romania thing, so I guess it isn’t surprising that its die-hard fans are being called “flames/kindlings”?
HOW DO PEOPLE CALL THE (RADICAL) FANS OF TEAM CHINA?
好粉丝/宙国粉 - “Great” fans, Fans of team universe
I’ve talked about this last time so just revision here lol.
———————————————————————————————————–
C. Gymnasts related nicknames (some are not mean at all because I run out of mean nicknames lmao)
1. Daria Spiridonova - 累女士 - Mdm Tiresome
Back in 2014 when Spi first proved her worth Chinese fans had been calling her “the new love”, which is a proof of her popularity back then. Then in 2016 the sentiment took a turn for the worse as people realized that while she can only do bars (and that her bars isn’t even the best in the team), she kept getting selected over others (like Kapitonova and Skrypnik, at least in 2016) even in team competitions. So people started saying things like “Isn’t that super tiring for her teammate coz she can only do one event and will explode on all others”. Eventually people started to call her Mdm Tiresome - someone who drains the shit out of her teammate.
2. Brenna Dowell - 嘟嘟鸡 - Dodo Chicken
Dowell’s nickname is just realllllllly unfortunate lol, because its not her fault at all. So basically a forum member named lldt06 (inventor of 6oP, remember?) is a superrrrrrr radical fan of hers and kept saying things like “she deserve a WC bars gold”, “BEST bar composition in the worlddddddd”, “excellent AAer”, which have some truth in them but are still boosty nonetheless and didn’t sit well with many. So in 2015 when Dowell did badly for bars in Worlds many people were like “WHERES THE WORLD CHAMPION? I ONLY SEE A DODO CHICKEN.” and bamm the nickname stayed. Tbh the term dodo chicken doesn’t mean anything in Chinese. I think its the combination between the first syllable of her last name and Wild Chicken, the term for newbies/noobs as explained in my last post.
3. Lin Li - 慌姐 - Sister Panic
So Lin Li is a member of China’s National Team in the 2004 squad. She is actually amazing on bars but just doesn’t have the mental tenacity to do well in major competition. She always seems to be rushing through her routines which lead to mistakes after mistakes, so after a while ppl just called Sister Panic for short.
4. The pines of 4 season 春松,夏松,秋松,冬松
So like Chunsong’s literal translation is Spring Pine, and so 3 other gymnasts were bestowed the nickname of Summer Pine, Autumn Pine and Winter Pine respectively lmao. These are NOT mean nicknames.
So Autumn Pine was first to be invented and she is Flavia Saraiva. People started to call her Autumn Pine ever since 2014′s YOG because of how tiny she was - just like Chunsong. They are also great on beam as well and competed in the same beam finals before. At the same time though she is also different from Chunsong in many way so people called her Autumn Pine to highlight the similarity and contrast.
Then not long after that people discovered Morgan Hurd and they were like “oh my! isn’t she like a clone of Chunsong?”, so people started to call her Xiasong, or Summer Pine.
Lastly is the winter pine. People actually couldn’t find a good fit for it for a long time but they also felt it’s incomplete without a winter pine. Then one day someone posted this photo of a young Melnikova (the same photo as below) and people were like “WINTER PINE IS SUPPOSED TO BE FAIR AND LIGHT COZ ITS WINTER, SHE LOOKS ABITTTT LIKE CHUNSONG, MELNIKOVA WILL BE WINTER PINE”. And that’s it LMAO. Personally I don’t find Melnikova to resemble Chunsong, but whatever lol everything is cool as long as we have the four pines.
Tumblr media
5. The Zoo (Russia’s WC team 2010) (Not mean)
Most members of Russia’s 2010 WAG team at the Worlds have animal related nicknames. The nicknames started off as mean nicknames as they are donned by Russian haters that “Russian team is like a zoo”, but eventually even the fans themselves began calling the team #TeamZoo, so they are no longer mean anymore.
Mustafina - 母狮 - lioness - Phonic translation
Dementyeva - 德猴 - Monkey - Because she’s kinda goofy like a monkey lol
Nabieva - 河马 - Hippo - Because she must have an animal related nickname as Mus has one and people found her to resemble a hippo somehow lmao
Afanasyeva - 鳄鱼 - Crocodile - She was fierce as a crocodile on floor and I think some of her facial features (being fierce and glaring and all) reminds some like a crocodile.
BUT HERE IS THE MEAN BUT ALSO NOT SO MEAN PART
Semenyeva is STRIPPED of a animal related nickname because Russian haters didn’t hate her enough to don her a nickname LMAO.  She was listed as a RESERVE FOR NICKNAME. Until now she doesn’t have an animal related nickname and its so fortunate and sad at the same time.
Now I hope that you have enjoyed reading this second episode lmao, I think I’m really running out of nicknames so there shouldn’t be an 3rd episode sadly…. Still, hope it has made you laugh!

looking for more Polish movie suggestions!
Oh God you came to the wrong person I’m not a movie person at all ;-;
I can only name you the calssics, out of the new good polish movies:
‘Miasto 44′ - ’city 44′ hitosrical, about Warsaw Uprising. Kinda cheesy because it was made in a bit hollywood manner but also I appreciate that this is the one polish historical movie that’s actually realisitcs and not just some high pseudo-patrotic right wing bullshit romanticising the death of innocent people. I personally think it showed the reality quite well and I was depressed for the whole next week so. Also, it showes the reason why I hate the ‘punch a nazi’ rhetoric lmfao.
youtube
There are english subtitles there, you can turn them on!
‘Bogowie’ - ‘Gods’ also kinda historical, about the first heart transplantation in Poland (in general it was one of the firs ones in the world I think? but im not sure) On one hand you get to enjoy a very original character of Religa, the surgeon, on the other - the beauty of PRL with all it’s absurdity. I’m a slut for a PRL reality so I loved it =D
‘ostatnia rodzina’ - ‘family’ about that painter, Beksiński (there’s a post here on tumblr with his paintings, they’re very disturbing) He was… quite an original guy, I tell you, and so was his family. In some ways a very disturbing movie, I felt very uneasy after that. Let me just say that it begins with that painter saying the he always dreamt about raping someone, but he’ll never do it because he understand reality is different than his imagination.
Out of the older ones:
‘Seksmisja’ - … Sexmission? comedy. About two guys who were hibernated and woke up in a reality wihout men . Idk if it’s not too deep polish humor for someone else to understand? But I laughed =D Obvsly a hidden communism critic
‘Kiler’ - ..yeah, kiler, not killer, it’s a surname of a main character, although it’s supposed to refer to the english word ‘killer’ (too little ‘szcz’ for it to be a real polih surname™). Comedy, about a guy who is was mistaken for a killer with the same surname (….).
‘Chłopacy nie płaczą’ - ‘Boys don’t cry’, comedy, a very similar type of humor the kiler, about a guy who by an accident witnesses the murder by a gang and is being chased by them. But this is like, 10% of the movie maybe.
‘Dzień świra’ - ‘the madman day’ eee, it’s a comedy and also a drama. Actually, the director said, people who take it as a comedy make a mistake. It’s about a 40 something years old guy with a midlife crisis and very bitter depiticion of the hard post communist times, all packed in satire and jokes.
But tbh those comedies (except for the last one maybe) are…. well there was the time when a lot of comedies  with a similar style were made, and like… they are funny but also very connected to the mood I suppose that was  present in Poland after 89? I was brought up with them and I feel like only polish people are going to understand some things :/ Especially that the joke is very much based on the way actors speak, the kind of stuff difficult to translate. And also, they’re often on a broder of being racist, sexist and alike, as barely anyone cared for such stuff back then. Like they’re not maybe truly those things, but the humor is kinda based on being offensive to everyone and everything.
@ewa-a-nie-chce-spac seems to be a fan of movies, I’m sure she’d be a better help.

Something I've been thinking about off n on for a while but
Tbh, a lot of the Rick and Morty fandom, specifically those on Tumblr, kind of just. Make no damn sense to me. They're opposite end of the RickWannabe spectrum, where, rather than insisting that the show is deep and highly intellectual because it's nihilistic and nothing means anything etc etc, they've gone left field with instead saying basically 'Yes it's deep, but because it points out how awful Rick is, you're not supposed to idolize him, you should be identifying with Morty or Summer if anyone, it points out xyz social justice issues etc etc'.
And I really feel like both are. So, so wrong, but at least I understand where the Rickabes are coming from. It's an Adult Swim cartoon. It's a raunchy half satire show made by raunchy cishet white dudes with college humour.
It absolutely has it's intelligent moments. It absolutely calls Rick out on shitty behavior sometimes, in fact, everyone gets called out at some point. But that doesn't make Rick the Horrible Monster That If You Identify With Him You Need Help.
If you identify with any of them, it /could/ be because of mental health reasons, they're all kinda coded neurodivergent in some way.
But it's not black and white like that.
And it's utterly ridiculous that Tumblr SJW Anti-Shipper types have latched to this show at all considering the very fucking nature of the show.
Like. No offense, but if RickMorty like. Genuinely super makes me uncomfortable/mad (especially if just joking that it's canon makes you uncomfortable/mad) This is. Not a show you should be watching. Dan and Justin are very pro Ship Whatever The Fuck You Want. Fuck, the Ricklantis Mixup was practically One Big Ode To Incest Porn.
90% of the show has problematic themes akin to that. How did you make it past episode 1, let alone become devout fans deep into season 3.

Note
hi, i go by kaso (he/she). requesting for the twst and ror boys (with the exception of idia and leona)
im mostly on the neutral centerpoint when it comes to myself. im an introvert. im calm, mellow, down-to-earth. im also observant as i pick up small things n remember them when the time is right. also to js sniff out peoples intentions but its more of the first most of the time.
im a soft-spoken guy. usually im relaxed and unshaken, though my motivation seems to come on a whim ebery other day so i may seem out of it at times. its easy to keep my composure for most things and keep my emotions in check.  i have tendencies to be passive-aggressive when provoked and im kinda stubborn. but im chill and friendly.
its easy for me to pick up from setbacks. im naturally intelligent but i dont really study to keep it.. its not like i dont want because im quite self-aware its just the lack of motivation. im also quite clever when the time comes.. cant explain it but its kinda easy to play the cards right when its laid out in my favour.
i may have an avoidant attachment of the sort im not sure.
when it comes to humour, im genuinely such a corny person and its always a hit or miss for my jokes. its also tinged with satire and sarcasm most if not all the time. i love to laugh and will find anything funny that might come out of your mouth.
i enjoy indulging in my interests, listsning to music, drawing and other things. i dont really have set things i enjoy, i just do whatever makes me happy tbh. i love having fun but it drains me. id try everything once if i could to make more of the moment.
i think my greatest fear is being unable to uphold to what ive created and not achieving my dreams.. im not so sure if it truly bothers me though. i experience small emotional highs and lows so maybe thats why.
i cant tolerate critical people who need to call you out for every flaw or people that cant keep their mouth shut. not chatty or talkative people im talking abt those who gossip. trust is a really big thing for me and its honestly a huge turn off.
i love with actions rather than words. i try and take my time with someone and treat them with the best care i can muster. im very passionate abt the things and people i love and i feel and care deeply even if i show it terribly. its in the little things. my love languages are quality time and parallel play.
im not sure if i have a type if im being honest.. never really thought hard on enough.. is not being an ass to other count?? like idk bare minimum wins i suppose.
thanks ^_^
Hello Kaso! I pair you with: Silver!
Tumblr media
Calm, laid back and observant, silver is open minded when it doesn't come to the protection of Malleus and likes his quiet. Though he doesn't mind company either. He's likely and prone to falling asleep though which does make him miss things here and there, so your observant mind comes in handy.
While he may or may not be able to draw himself he finds listening to music with you while you draw is a nice atmosphere to be around as well as being with another human, not that he doesn't like fae of course. Silver oftentimes does go in and out of sleeping, though he tries his best to stay awake when the time calls for it.
Shown to be a good cook under supervision he enjoys bringing you some home cooked food he'd made, and thankfully didn't let Lilia touch. His favorite thing about you is your soft spoken nature and calm personality, even if you do have your times of sarcasm and stubbornness. Silver is a person that respects your opinions and isn't one I can see gossiping and spreading rumors either.
I can see him being more introverted than extroverted and understand your need to have your social battery recharge at times. Silver is a hardworking individual especially when it comes to being a Knight, though he enjoys being able to rely on you even if it's something small and hopes you can do the same by confiding in him. Silver finds your cleverness interesting as well as your natural intelligence.
His favorite thing to do with you is spend quality time with you. As friends or something more he doesn't mind as long as you're by his side.
