hngngngnggngn guyss what if the dude in the ending of the t2 summary, will influence es even further into their warden role (and maybe something really bad will happen)
we all know that the dude used "watashi" instead of jackalopes "ore-sama", this is really important. since we know in the novels, jackalope's aren't technically "jackalopes", they are technically "human", sort of. maybe, the dude who used watashi could be jackalope off of work, or the dude in the novel (the boss). the identity of that man isn't really important in this discussion, but i just want to find out ig.
what's important is, do you remember about the aviot collab? es' last test line is the main topic. (im to lazy to take the image). the line, "i(boku wa)... i(watashi.. wa..)...." iirc. the 1st "i", uses boku, their usual 1st person pronoun. boku is usually used by young boys, but in this case they're using it since boku is used by workers (boku is also gender neutral). the 2nd "i" uses watashi, they have NEVER used this 1st person. what if, the reason why they used watashi, is because of that dude in the ending of t2 summary using watashi. only we can hear that dude since he appeared when es is put to sleep, if they are taking reference off of that dude, how did they hear it? the viewers mind and es' mind is sorta connected (the reason why es can hear our thoughts).
before es is put to sleep, jackalope is awfully manipulative i will rip my guts out. "and anyway, whatever happens to them, none of it can be taken back. its not for the guard to worry about. that's right, you are the guard. don't doubt it. that is your job. as long as you dont forget that, it's fine. now that you understand, go to sleep, es."
its not for the guard to worry about : jackalope knows that es has their full trust on him, he's using that as a chance to take advantage of their own feelings, making them slowly lose empathy for the prisoners. also, maybe jackalope said this because he knows es feels guilty for what happened to the guiltied (…I'm sorry. I'm responsible for the fact that you've ended up like this.) ig he is supposed to be the representation of the all seeing eye in the panopticon.
that's right, you are the guard. don't doubt it : in some occasions, es doubted their role of being the warden (ex: "Guard-san"... Is that really... me?). since they're doubting their role, i think jackalope is trying to push the warden role onto them so they wont ever give up and become a vulnurable target of "manipulation" for the prisoners.
as long as you dont forget that, it's fine : yeah ig its self explanatory.
also, the last line, "oh yes, just as i predicted, you have all turned out to be...." its so smart. in the original milgram experiment, there are three results: 1. those who followed the rules but blamed themselves for what they did 2. those who followed the rules and felt great for what they did (because they thought they actually hurt the person) 3. those who rebelled and halted the experiment. in the back of the undercover cd, there's 3 es'
Tumblr media
and i think they can be connected to each of the results. the one on the top could be the 1st result, the one on the middle could be the 2nd result, and the third one could be the 3rd result.
i love how they just cut it off before he says what we all turned out since there's three results that could happen. because we technically have the idea of what es could end up after t3, i wonder how much farther would they go to be the ideal warden (especially with how jackalope is persuading es to not worry about what happens to the prisoners).
(+edit: a jp person translated the ending part where it glitches, its "you have all turned out to be psychopaths who enjoy other people's misery", which is technically the result of the real milgram experiment, even stanley milgram himself was horrified of the results, "a very high proportion of subjects would fully obey the instructions, with every participant going up to 300 volts, and 65% going up to the full 450 volts.".
i might be reaching too far so take this with a grain of salt
tldr; the dude at the end of t2 summary will worsen es

sorryf im being mentally ill about hallucination event right now SO in the LCSyS au, would there be something like it :o? Like after all of it's over or something, how crazy would it be if Jackalope tried to get them all together just to do one last concert?
Never apologize for being mentally ill about Milgram content 😌👍 We are all in it together 😔👍I'm combining this answer with a reply to @kikithedeceiver (and spiraling out of control from both)
Tumblr media
I've had a lot of ideas about the project being public in LCSyS, but was holding off including it for few reasons – the audience’s voices would conflict with Es as their own character. Knowing the public was watching would change the way the prisoners acted (even if they thought they were acting natural). It’s a long time that the families would have to deal with the public knowing about their loved one’s almost-crime. I also like the idea of this au ending with the prisoners returning to very normal lives.
Buuuuut it is such a fun idea, and popularity seems an essential part of an actors au. So, I’m not naming this as canon, but here’s a pitch if you liked that idea and wanted to run with it :3
The team doesn’t tell the participants that they’ve been recording/collecting certain material to release. If a translation is left out by accident, the prisoners just assume it’s for a foreign team member – they have no idea how close/far Milgram reaches.
The third trial begins. The prisoners are inside the prison, and on the final stretch of the trials. On the outside, Jackalope contacts families for signatures to release the material publicly. The team thought about censoring names and things, but seeing current fans’ investigation skills, they knew it was a matter of time before they put pieces together anyway. This may be super illegal but for the sake of the story I’ll say that family consent is enough lmao.
Some of them are easy to convince to sign off on everything, since it can raise awareness for their loved one’s struggles. Muu’s family takes the longest, as it would risk ruining their reputation. (They’re only swayed because it truly is a great opportunity to show off Muu’s talents for those modeling scouts, and she didn’t actually kill anyone in the end.) Kazui’s family refuses to release his info, but Hinako uses sway with her marital status to sign off instead (I pictured things happening fast enough where she hasn’t gotten an official divorce yet). Hinako still struggles with what he did, but she thinks he’s doing something incredibly brave now. I’m not 100% sure what’s going through Amane’s father’s mind, but if the murder really was in line with the cult’s beliefs, maybe he believes that Amane will be be a shining representation of their religion. He wants to show her off as their little golden child.
The experiment is published in its current form: music videos, voice dramas, timeline conversations, interrogation questions, etc. It’s brought to more than just science/psychology circles, though. Jackalope has no shame in marketing it as entertainment, hence the stockholders mentioned. He assures the sociologists that this will be a major breakthrough for them. He tells music labels he's got the new hit thing for them. He leans into the excitement of releases and merchandise in the hopes of gaining attention for the experiment. Needless to say, it works. Even though the audience has no sway over Es’ decisions, they are encouraged to make decisions for themselves on what they would judge each prisoner. There’s the same types of theory/analysis/discourse posts passed around.
When the trials end, the prisoners are released into the world to find they’re famous. Instead of trudging back to their lives feeling that society hates them, they find tons of adoring fans telling them how much they understand and forgive them. Even if their final verdict was guilty, they have hundreds of voices assuring them that they are loved. That they are not alone. This attention really helps Haruka, Amane, (and maybe Es) who don’t have a good home to go back to. Not only can they reenter society, they are welcomed with open arms. They are looked after and showered in love. Some of the adults realize they want to use this popularity to lead the charge of social change. They create/support projects meant to help people who are facing their struggles.
And of course, there’s the other type of fame as well. Yuno loves answering fanmail and turning her karaoke hobby into a music career. Kazui goes from a life of feeling rejected and disgusting to scrolling through comments upon comments of men oogling him. Mahiru gets offers from fashion magazines and blogs to write up sections about self-love. Amane gets to live out her dream of being a performer, hinted at in her first two mvs. Fuuta is flustered by all the positive attention his appearance/voice is getting. Mikoto… well, I just wish him luck when he opens tiktok…
Which brings us to the live event! The prisoners have tried to keep in touch while adjusting to their new lives as almost-murderers-turned-idols. They’re amazed at how well-recieved the trial songs were. Those were some of their most personal, shameful secrets, and people relate to them? People love singing them?? People want a concert featuring them??? Jackalope encourages them to get together for one last encore. Some are thrilled with the opportunity, others are still nervous about the whole thing. Some think it’s in poor taste, that Jackalope is milking them for entertainment. But with a bit of conversing amongst themselves, they realize they all want a chance to sing like that again, and see each other in one place again. (It’s ironic because in my head Mahiru is the one to convince everyone to come ;--;)
It’s strange putting on the uniforms again. Es is unsure about putting on their guard’s cloak. But the minute they stop onstage, they’re met with wild applause. They can sing their fears and dreams to a huge crowd and see in real time how it’s reaching others. They hear the cheers after each song. They hear that it’s streamed all over the world. All of them have an absolute blast, and pour their heart and soul into their performances.

ramble under the cut!! ofc cw sui/death mention
imagine like.. if he reallt died would the jackalope reporting video for t2 still show a new haruka sprite.. like one where how he felt/looked before he….
or would it just be nothing there to indicate his death… or.. would they draw his dead corpse..? (which is very unlikely)
then what happens if he DOES die? we skip to yuno t3? or do we still get a haruka mv extracted from his corpse.. if that even works and continue voting but this time the votes doesnt even matter anymore..
will muu like.. feel happy?? i honestly doubt so since she actually cared.. im still curious as to wondering if she knew that if haruka’s promise was genuine or not..
i wonder if itll like encourage her to open up more in her mv/vd due to guilt or get more closed off in a defensive way and try to portray herself more to look ‘pitiful’ to like try to convey ‘im also affected too!’ or ‘its not my fault/i couldnt do anything!!’ (basic fuuta kajiyama denial behavior) is technically at fault for not trying to stop haruka despite being aware (ily girlboss but… cmon..) would she sing about him-? WOULD SHE JUST INSTEAD SHRUG IT OFF LIKE HIS EXISTENCE DIDNT MATTER
itd also be nice if haruka’s supposed t3 vd gets replaced with es and jackalope vd where es mainly tries to cope and also (insert tons of angst) or a vd where everyone gets free time and talks about.. haruka… or a really special vd all of a sudden about post t2 sorry guys im being delusional
OR OR!! short (maybe) haruka vd where it shows how he committed or a scene before he attempted to do so…
i want to also see how muu and es would interact after haruka’s death — like would they most surely blame each other? cry together in guilt, in which theyll get along better?? i gen want to know if both muu and es would cry for him.
if haruka did die….. would yuno attempt to comfort es in t3? or simply say that it was their fault for making such careless decisions..
imagine shidous depressing expression when he reached the scene in an attempt to try save haruka, only to find out hes reached too late, finding him with no pulse… holding onto a cold body which was once warm..
would the other prisoners blame es? would they react emotionally and let out their feelings onto them… like ‘WHY DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?!’
since es wasnt AWARE of kotoko’s acts in post t1… after learning of it will they try to do something in for post t2..? es please give haruka those asylum cushion room thingies he will take any chance he get to khs… can tell based off his desperation shown in koto bthday tl… ITS HONESTLY HORRIFYING.
i feel like amane will take haruka’s death as an opportunity to critical hit es in the heart because yknow shes now against milgram and them.. smth like ‘see what youve done? the damage youve caused is enough, stop doing the wrong shit.’ then talk about them being correct at the least for inno-ing her tho i dont think she would be all that impressed anymore.
would anyone.. ANYONE POINT OUT that ES WOULD EXACTLY BE LIKE ALL OF THEM TOO?? because haruka dying was triggered due to es’ poor voting decisions (us guys us..)
‘youve killed someone. just like us all, youre no different.’ then es gets a mental breakdown HAHDHBSD/hj
haruka dying impacts them all heavily one way or another.. like fuuta would def link them both together because similar murder .. call es a murderer… tells them to judge themselves just like how theyre doing it to all of them.. cmon like haruka’s death gives fuuta sm content..
well at the end of the day its our fault for not voting properly, thinking haruka was just joking.. cmon if a 12 year old threatening to harm a fully developed adult is horrifying to you how did haruka’s suicide threat fly over ur heads.. (joined during triage release so couldnt vote 💔)
i just genuinely hope that es will do something about this and take some measures, because things will definitely not end well for both haruka and muu. (considerinf that shes guikty and based off my own assumption that a guilty verdict will not stop kotoko)
id totally ramble abt that i think will happen in post t2 but.. shrugs. also this was written at midnight so shhh if this doesnt make any sense
I hope Haruka keeps his promise and try to off himself
(i like him i swear, i'm just really curious about how far the writers are capable to go)

#i feel really bad for saying that a 12 year old kid cant have a happy ending but like. i genuinely think she cant#her cult mindset is so ingrained into her#she needs a therapist and a support system#something that milgram cant really give#i dont think any of the other prisoners can be the support she really needs (and i could not blame them)#shidou could be. or mahiru#but both of those people are the ones amane would not accept support or help from#if she was voted forgiven she's going to view her 1st unforgiven vote as a 'trial from god'#and i do think there's a chance we could get a yuno situation#a lot of the reasons why people want to vote her forgiven is because she's a 12 year old who's been abused and gaslit by a cult#im not saying that it's bad reasoning#however. it makes me feel like a lot of people pity amane#which is fair (and something i do myself) but amane would definitely not like it#she doesnt want to be treated as a child#an unforgiven vote could lead to more mental damage and would possibly make her lean into the cult's teachings even more since they are her#only form of comfort#i dont know what to vote for her#and in like. storytelling perspective she is GREAT#her character exists to make the audience ask ourselves 'how much will does a child have?'#and 'if a person is manipulated to do something bad how much free will do they have and how much of it is their fault'#amane wouldnt be half as compelling if she wasnt 12 years old AND a cultist#reblog#im so unwell abt her
YOU FUCKING GET IT! Again I'd say that Milgram as a system in-universe is incredibly flawed which works for the purposes of...well criticizing the prison system and public opinion and what people do when given power over others and what not. I have a thing currently where my plan is to vote everyone forgiven, if not now then in trial 3 because I don't Want these people to stay in this hellscape of a prison and since voting can't communicate my actual intentions my best bet is to get them Out so they Can be rehabilitated...but of course that depends on what Jackalope is going to do and really it's just the least worst option to me lol. I Love how Milgram makes me Feel Powerless to help any of them properly, fantastic usage of medium and storytelling.
Back to Amane: She really wouldn't like the idea she's being pitied! I love how Amane is written so much, the parroting of ideas coupled with the want to be taken seriously and the way her trauma causes her to grip onto ideals she holds as her only support is just *chefs kiss* I Adore It. Amane shouldn't be in prison she should be REHABILITATED and GIVEN THERAPY fr.
Many thoughts head full about amane
(Feel free to talk abt your amane theories and thoughts in the notes, i want to meet more milgram fans)

canon es looks like a pathetic baby
i love how u end up analysing every piece you see ur so smart
i honestly hate how everyone handled it so childishly like ur telling me that everyone in vivid street watched an obliviously continue to wait for nagi for YEARS not even a few months or weeks it was most of her life???😭😭 i know they wanted to fufil nagi’s final wish but honestly that’s just so wrong. also taiga what the fuck man how r u gonna destroy an’s dreams like that then bring the entire group JUST TO PROVE THAT VBS CANT BEAT RAD WEEKEND ARE YOU DENSE ok ignore that anyways no way the entire town agreed that this was okay?????
ur right though milgram’s treatment is way more inhumane what the hell is wrong with them, as far as i’m aware i think all the wardens introduced (novel and music project) r like high schoolers. DUDE😭😭😭 imagine just being a normal teenagerthen u wake up with no memory of what u were doing before and get told by a talking chromosome that ur surrounded by murderers thats absolutely terrifying
THE STACKS OF PAPER WHAT THE HELL not even the excessive hw i get could get that bad
idk if u read Side S yet but I’ll spoil it under cut bc good god
Es KNOWS that their memory Was wiped and they don’t gaf because
“I want to be a beautiful warden if that’s the case, if memories are impurities for a warden, then they are unnecessary” Like WHAT THE FUCK WHAT HAS MILGRAM DONE TO YOU
milgram wardens r honestly so dehumanised to the point where nothing else but the verdicts they give is important. jackalop is so. ew i like making fun of him but he also seems genuinely frightening in the sense that he’s a higher rank than es so he could. do anything to them. dont even get me started on novel jackalope she can literally strangle the wardens like “do you want to stop breathing too?” SHUT UP PLEASE
I want t3 so badlu but at the same time im so horrified
ANALYSIS READING TIME!
i feel like i could pull up with this and you’d still find a way to analyse it/pos
Tumblr media
edit: WHO VOTED ON THE POLL LMFAOOOOO
messy hair es!!!! i only did that so it wouldn’t look too basic but omg!!!!!!! yes es is clutching onto themselves and their heart, idk i js copied the original poseLMAO
the duller clothing has no meaning i just love playing with saturation
ur flower analysis is so good holy shit i was just trying to doodle those rlly basic flowers bc i was NOT drawing all that detail on an’s shitt. abandonment. oh god the prisoners
“if u put a red and white flower together something something someone will die” <- looks at a prisoner
Okay I Actually Lied I Did Want To Put Symbolism (abt the person behind es)
You are correct that is supposed to be past es, i was trynna go for like there’s nothing much to past es’ design because es doesn’t know their past self so. they could be anything . so like the basic ness in the design means that there’s not much u can really say about a past you don’t remember WHAT AM I SAYING
“they died before even becoming a warden” HOLY FUCKING SHITTTTRTT THATS SO SICK I HATE MILGRAM
the pancreas thing is so cool i didnt even know that what
the longer hair was entirely an accident its bc i didnt have a reference of es’ back hair. but of course kani finds a way to analyse it and still make it make sense. ahoge was also unintentional LMFAO es is implied to have a bad past so it makes sense that pre milgram es would be depressed
THE NUMBER OF FLOWERS TOO?? i honestly had no idea numbers had symbolisms i just pasted a bunch of flowers everywhere so the background wouldnt look basic
i DEFO drew them looking like hearts but i tried drawing petals scattered everywhere. the hearts look cute tho
did u know i based the fence off the wall thing in ur engeki es art😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
the fence bar things is supposed to represent milgram bc. the gold things r in milgram. es’ room. and the fact that warden es and past es r separated by that fence implies that milgram is preventing es from uhh knowing their past/true self by putting a fence and hiding the past from them
idk shit about fences so im just gonna go with whatever u said about facing outwards and inwards bc it still makes sm sense😭
oh god the heart being split apart because es was ripped from their childhood and since its a fence they can’t get it back
^ that was NOT intentional i just wanted to say smt
i think i need to get better at symbolisms like i’m literally a milgram fan
THANK TOU SO MUCHHH OH MY GOF DON’T KYS YOU CAN DIE FROM THAT🙏🙏🙏🙏
下剋上
Tumblr media
i need to stop drawing them with a baby face all the time😭😭
if u find any symbolisms here it was probably an accident i suck at analysing and all that
An and Es when they have 2 letter names and were raised in an environment that they believed and trusted in only to realise that the truth was being hidden from them (if that makes sense)
who died???? probably their freedom
^ if that makes. sense (I SAID THAT ALREADY)
based off this
Tumblr media
if u saw me post this b4 u didnt

ok I need to seriously scream because I've been going wild about Mikoto's lore. I haven't scratched the bottom of everything available, but the inconsistency for me's been "ok so idk if I'm going with System of 3 theory, but Alter That Killed doesn't seem consistent with Double's preview and the implication that this alter seems to fulfill a Protector role"
like I've peeked at the conversation that's been had Im sure about Mikoto as dissociative disorder representation, and it's easy to consider it problematic (altho I think Jackalope may have acknowledged this w "first time for everything", idk what the writing and research behind the scenes is like, but they likely know the statistics and that the stereotype is what it is, altho japanese media rep of DID is a little different iirc, but that's another rabbit hole,), but at this point I'm pretty sure that the potential to write off characters as problematic / toxic represenation is... kind of a point in itself that may be intended. "humans are nuanced and complex" shit
this?? I haven't yet seen it but HOOOOOOOOOOO
"literally why would Mikoto's alter kill, what's the motive!!" is what's been on the brain with him, because Milgram isn't just gonna do "hehehe he's a serial killer" even if that's how it frankly came off enough for me to squint, and enough for others to treat him as "faking it".
I need to re-listen to the voice drama because there's just, hhhhh
my thoughts regarding representing dissociative disorders in media is that if your story isn't specifically about the individual / system itself, you're limited in scope writing wise as to what can be shown by perspective, time, etc. even a narrative regarding a system, you're then working with system members as characters within the narrative and the roles they play within plot beats and arcs. it's not impossible to avoid stereotypes, the bar to clear is embedded in the earth's crust.
but because of the whole "split personality" trope, I have the kneejerk reaction habituated... and I have to fucking restrain myself with Mikoto because I can tell they're Doing Something here.
it's the same issue as Mahiru's character amounting to an undiagnosed bpd woman (who's also likely aromantic or otherwise on the asexual spectrum) in a codependent and toxic relationship that ended with the suicide of her partner, and oops, "she's a yandere stalker" theories happen.. despite the translyrics doing a pretty good job of showing that not only is there something Going On With Her, but that so much of How To Be In Love With You tells me that the writers aren't just writing the character theories are thinking exists, but that they did their research and know enough to write a properly nuanced portrayal that fits the point of the narrative
Rambling because I feel very normal about Mikoto &Co(to /j), but it's been a back and forth because I'm unwilling to treat things uncharitably, and I can see that there's so much more than I can see from what I've consumed so far (there's still trial 2 drama and song! let alone the third trial!!), so just hoooo
The killing being an act of desperation by a protector, now THAT. that is gonna be a good one. it explains the feeling of brutality with what we're shown, the malice. it lines up with how I've interpreted the lines "a false accusation full of mistakes, you would probably smile and be pleased", is dftyftyfydfgydrydrt
The killing being an act of desperation by a protector, now THAT. that is gonna be a good one. it explains the feeling of brutality with what we're shown, the malice. it lines up with how I've interpreted the lines "a false accusation full of mistakes, you would probably smile and be pleased", that when called a murderer one is doing from a strict perspective and that the prisoner's perspective actually has the perspective whether motive or the chain of events (whether they're even aware why it happened, gestures to how many of them are a product of the environment they were brought up in, Haruka (plus probably Mahiru and Mu, my hunch for starters)). Like it's a layer to the lyric I want to say I've picked up on, and it applies here.
Would they be pleased with what was done? Well, they're safe now that they're not under surveillance. so. idk, you tell them.
AND IT WORKS. it works too fucking well 👀👀👀
Started writing the Mikoto essay and @apatchworkstar unleashed curses upon me. I will now quit and become a recluse for my own safety.
