It just brings me comfort knowing that you are there and your songs pulled me through the deepest and hardest times. I saw that you’ve been helping swifties and honestly, being your fan for 10 years, I am not even surprsied anymore. You have such a good heart and you continue to inspire me and everyone else who loves and supports you. You never failed to make me feel worthy and heard. Now I would want to share a story about my aunt. Growing up, my mom wasn’t that much present because of her work so the one who raised me was my aunt. I call her mommy auntie because she’s basically my mom too. 8 months ago, she was hospitalized twice and 2 months of going back and forth to the hospital, she was finally given a diagnosis. The doctor diagnosed her with Multiple Myeloma. It is a type of cancer that affects the plasma cells. Our family is very religious and I never saw them in that much fear until the doctor came inside the hospital room and told us that my mommy auntie has cancer. Ever since that day, I struggled to accept the fact that a person I love the most has cancer. But I remained strong for everyone else because no one in my family could take the pain of weekly checkups, seeing someone you love cry in pain, and chemotherapy. I had to stop going to school for 2 semesters because I needed to take care of mommy auntie and we were also struggling financially. She had to do chemotherapy and every cycle costs 156,977 pesos. We didn’t know how to complete the 6 cycles she needs but through God’s grace and the love of the people around us, we managed to do 4 cycles. Now we are at her 5th cycle and we haven’t paid for it yet but the doctor allowed us to start her 1st session. We’re struggling financially especially in this times where this whole pandemic is going on, it’s hard to go to the hospital because our city is in a lockdown, and everyone in the family is out of work, including me. We literally don’t know how to pay for her on going cycle because we don’t have jobs right now and we need to spend our remaining money for her oral chemo. I’m not the one to ask for help because I believe other people need it more, but I feel helpless in this situation. Seeing mommy auntie battle her cancer and then worry after because of the financial needs is the hardest thing to witness. I can’t listen to Soon You’ll Get Better without tearing up because I can relate to every word in that song. Thank you for writing that song and for being my strength when I need it the most. I am asking everyone who reads this to please pray for my mommy auntie if you can... that’s already a very big help and I appreciate everyone who gave their prompt time into reading this.
