i think hawkeye thought of frank as one of his blorbos. like, i’m allowed to be mean bc he’s mine. anyone not on the appropriate list hawk’s made, he immediately fires off and defends frank. sometimes, even IF your on the list he’ll still be mad sometimes.

which is to say, i think in the trope where frank leaves and trapper stays, hawkeye would’ve been upset if frank left without saying goodbye. you live with a guy for a year, eat sleep and work next to him. there’s no way there isn’t a little fondness there. hawkeye might’ve not been devastated, but i like to think he’d still go after frank to say bye.

bc that’s what drives hawkeye pierce. he loves too much, even if he doesn’t always show it, and he wears his heart on his sleeve.
