Tumblr media
Entry Date XX-XX-XXX Y/n has begun hoarding large amounts of food lately. No preference for food in the pile with the exception of Aishi flowers. Behavior lately has been erratic. Body language suggests uneasiness and anxiety. They’ve instructed me to stay in the hut for a few days while they leave on a journey. They brought all the Aishi flowers with them along with half the food pile. In order to understand their behavior, I am choosing to ignore their request and will follow them. I have-
"Oh fuck” Orion whispered as he finally noticed how lifeless the jungle had suddenly become.
He was utterly absorbed in finishing his journal entry, neglecting to watch his surroundings despite your repeated warnings. Orion couldn't determine how long the forest had been silent.
He quietly packed up his items, his heart pounding and his breath quickening.
It's fine. You were pretty close. You were just a few hundred feet inside a nearby cave that he'd tracked you down to.
 Keep calm. Orion reminded himself multiple times as his feet picked up the pace. His eyes caught a glimpse of something purple stalking him.
No more calm.
Orion booked it. He clutched his satchel tightly while weaving through the jungle. Roots nearly tripped him. The jungle began to blur into a confusing tapestry of blue, green, and every other color.
Suddenly, he was pinned to the ground. Its sharp teeth flashed, and a disgusting smell wafted into his nose.
"GET OFF ME" Orion yelled as he attempted to kick the beast off him.
The kick did very little to harm it. At most, he probably annoyed the creature. The beast growled and opened its mouth wider.
Something pushed the giant beast off him just as it was about to take a bite. The beast staggered back in shock. A large howl escaped the beast.
You jumped on top of it with a blade in your head. You quickly shoved your blade into the side of the beast. Cries of pain echoed from it as he watched you take the knife out of its neck. It shook you off its back, and you fell onto the ground. Quickly, it ran into the jungle.
"WHY YOU HERE? SUPPOSED TO STAY HOME!" You screamed at him. Your body was sluggish as it dragged itself off the ground.
"I wanted to make sure you were doing okay! You've been acting so weird lately and-."
"Go home. Now."
Without looking back, you slowly walked into a nearby cave. Orion tip-toed behind you into the cave, trying not to upset you any further. A makeshift leaf curtain door covered the entrance. The cave was small and had a dead end. A pile of aishi flowers was littered around with a musk smell.
You immediately collapsed onto the flower when you walked in. Your body giving up as it pushed itself past the limit. Orion rushed over to you. At first, he assumed you were injured in the fight with the predator.
His eyes darted in surprise when he realized you were bare. He pulled you into his arms with your back facing him. Sweat dripped down your forehead as you buried yourself in his arms. It took Orion a few seconds to understand what was wrong with you. A small smile snaked itself way onto his lips.
"I'm so sorry, Y/n. I didn't know it was your heat and mating season! You should've said something to me. I would've helped you. "Orion said sweetly as he traced his finger down your back. You gave a soft mew and shuddered underneath his touch.
"Nooo. Give me flowers. I eat." You cried, trying to fight him. "I need it!"
Orion reached over and gently fed you a flower. Your body began to cool down, and your mews died down. The sensitivity is fading away. A look of soberness slowly leaked into your eyes.
Hm. No wonder you were collecting these so much. They were meant to suppress your heat. Still, you didn't need the flowers now that he was here to assist you. He snatched the flower from your hand. You whined as he took it away.
Orion resumed teasing your body. His finger stopped at the base of your tail. He wrapped his fingers around it, following its length until the tip. He marveled at the flexibility of your tail as it wrapped around his arm in pleasure. The fur underneath his skin was soft like the blankets in your room.
 When his fingers reached the end, he circled them around it and toyed with it. Tiny trembles reverberated through your body. You began to pant more. Drool slipped over the side of your mouth, and a flushed color began to paint your skin.
"Does it feel good? Am I a good boy helping you?"
"Nooooo. Stop. No touch," You babble incoherently.
"Hm? It doesn't feel good here. I'm so sorry. Let me try somewhere else." Orion apologized teasingly while he nibbled on your ear.
His finger began to trail down lower from your tail. Gently, he pried your legs apart. He slowly slipped his finger inside you. You writhed when Orion pushed it in. Your tail curled up, and your eyes glazed over in pleasure.
Your hole was wet as it ached for him. It wrapped around his finger as he pushed in and out of it. Wet slick coating the entire finger. The sensation of your hole was exhilarating with the pressure around it as he added another finger. As his fingers curved inside you, the feeling intensified around him. He shivered in bliss as your back arched, trying to make the fingers go in deeper.
Your voice echoed through the cave. He listened as you mewed out small chirps and cries. He adjusted your head and began to suck on your tongue. Greedily, he relished the taste of your mouth. The taste of your mouth was so sweet, like honey. It brought him pure bliss, and he was almost ready to explode.
His cock ached and was sore inside his pants. He began to grind on your back, desperate for release. He lapped at your tounge and it felt like he'd drank ambrosia from the gods. Every drop dripped from his mouth straight into his very essence. He couldn't take it anymore as he rubbed himself into your back.
Suddenly, you ripped your lips off of him. A throbbed headache resounded as you pushed him on the floor. His fingers leave your tight hole.
He watched you get on top of him. You sat on top of him, and your tail pinned his hands to the ground. You tore off his pants. His cock managed to spring free. He moaned as you tried to sit down on him. Your body desperately tries to take his entire length. You shifted and shuffled in various directions, trying to make it fit.
Finally, your walls managed to take him in. You slicked up his dick with your nectar and pushed it inside yourself deeper. He groaned at how tight you were inside. It almost felt suffocating. Still, he adored the way you devoured him, and was still ravenous for more.
"Can I finish inside you? Please, please, please, let me," Orion begged as you moved your hips, "You feel too good. I'll do whatever you want. Just let me finish in you."
"No. Ri, not listen to me. Bad boy today." You said through gasps.
You leaned down and bit his neck as punishment for even asking that. Something in him broke. He knew it was too soon. You just put it inside, and he wanted to fill you up.
He tried to listen and hold back. However, the image of you full of him pushed him over the edge. Your belly filled with him to the brim. Your sweet slick mixed with his salty seed. Your delicate skin is stained with his dirty white liquid. Afterward, you'd lift yourself up and spill the extra fluid your hole couldn't contain.
A slight whine escaped your lips as Orion made his fantasy a reality. He painted your walls white and moaned as you took it all in. He couldn't help it. Listening to you call him a bad boy while riding him was too much.
"I'm sorry for not listening to you today. Let's do it again, and I'll listen to you this time. Okay?"

This is kinda a request but can you do a Luke Hughes reader where he cheats on his gf with the leader because he found out he loves the reader but while him and the reader are doing the naughty his gf comes in and catches them
Tumblr media
“wrong”
luke hughes x f!reader
warnings: cheating with reader, profanity, sex (sorta)
i tried to be more angsty than usual so i hope u guys like this
you knew from day one it was wrong. the way you looked at him, you knew it wasn’t right. the jittery feeling you felt in your stomach whenever he was around, it wasn’t the feeling that you were supposed to be feeling, it was supposed to be hers.
before you even realized it, your life became consumed. you were obsessed to say the least. always checking her instagram for new posts with him, or checking if the ‘<3’ highlight was still up on her page. the very first story on that highlight being dated all the way back to 25 weeks ago, the day you met him at the beginning of the semester at a party. you and luke grew close over first semester, so close you developed feelings for him, but he wasn’t yours. you stupidly set him up with a girl on your floor around october, and now they’re dating.
but the day you really messed up, was when you got so intoxicated that you somehow ended up in lukes bed, and that was last week. and that’s exactly where you are right now.
as luke’s lips melt into yours, he begins to unclip you bra from underneath your shirt. he pulls it out from under the tight fitting shirt hugging your skin perfectly, tossing it onto the floor behind him. your hands find their way up and under his shirt, tugging on part of it letting him know to remove it. he parts his lips from yours as he removes his top, while you do the same.
luke pauses unbuckling his belt to admire your body, making you blush and giggle nervously.
“you’re so pretty baby, you know that?”
“oh stop luke, you’re making me nervous,” you chuckle. luke smiles and leans back in to continue kissing you before breaking to finish taking his belt off. once all the clothing is removed, luke readjusts you both so that he’s above you while you’re laying flat on the bed. he leaves a trail of kisses down your neck, and leaves a few hickeys on your breasts. as he’s rolling the condom on, the door knob twists open and a shriek fills the small space.
“what the fuck luke!” she exclaims as she storms out of the door room. luke bolts out of his bed and puts as much clothing on as he can in a short amount of time, before running down the hallway chasing after his girlfriend. still in shock, you redress yourself in the now quiet and empty dorm room. the small polaroid of him and his girlfriend sitting on his desk reminds you that this is for the better, and that you guys should have never been in the position you were just in a few minutes ago.
as you slip quietly out of his dorm room, you see a distressed luke leaning against the wall. you attempt to slip past him unnoticed, but a hand grabs yours, spinning you around. you look up at luke and sigh. you know that you shouldn’t feel the way you do, but it’s like the whole world stops spinning when he looks at you.
“i’m sorry. i should’ve broken up with her ages ago,” he says lowly, clearly disappointed with himself.
“it’s not me you should be apologizing to luke,” you state.
“yes it is, i never even cared about her. i always wanted you, i just realized that way too late. you think it’s a coincidence that i see you everyday on my way to class while you come back from the gym? or that we just so happen to shop at the same bagel place? hell y/n, you make me so crazy that i just couldn’t deal with the chase any longer, so i kept mia around. which i regret, knowing now that it wasn’t just a one sided thing with you”
“luke, this isn’t right. i’m disgusted with myself, i knew what i was doing. we can’t be together, it’s wrong. at least not this soon, we have to think about mia,” you sigh.
“okay, then i’ll wait. i’ll wait for you, because i love you y/n. i know you think i’m crazy for saying that, but it’s true. seeing the way you care about everyone more than yourself, or how you’re not afraid to be the loudest one cheering in the stands, or even how you dance under the club lights, it makes me fall even more in love with you,” luke says, grabbing your free hand and intertwining it with his.
although your heart is swelling at his words, a sharp pain is stinging throughout your heart at the same time.
“luke, you don’t mean tha-“ you begin to say, but he cuts you off. “i do y/n, i do mean it. please just let me wait for you, i’ll do it anyways even if you tell me not to. i don’t care if we’re ‘wrong,’ it’s you that i want, and i know that.”
a tear slips down your cheek, knowing that you so desperately want to pull him in for a kiss and call him yours, but you know you can’t. “luke, we’re wrong. just give me time, and that doesn’t mean i’ll one hundred percent come back to you, but there’s a chance, okay?”
luke’s pursed lips turn into a sorrow grin, and he nods his head quickly. “okay, anything. anything you want, you have it.”
and luke really did mean those words, he meant every single one.
as you’re resting your head on his chest, feeling his breaths slow as he begins to fall into a calm rest, you say something that you’ve been dying to say for awhile now, “i love you too, luke.”
“what? i didn’t say i love you, i mean i do but-“
“i know. it’s from last year, the words i left unsaid. i’m saying them now, because i love you too,” you say softly, still feeling luke’s breathing pattern against your cheek. his lips brush against the top of your head, making you smile.
“well, in that case, i love you more.”

post-apocalypse headcanons pt 2!
coco st pierre vanderbilt
-she has the vibe where she uses a lot humor to cope with trauma, so she tells a lot of jokes (some childish, some dark, depending on who she's talking to), but doesn't exactly know how to show affection. her parents are super rich, so they probably didn't spend a lot of time with her and had family bonding time, so she instead, she labels the amount of calories per serving on every single snack, and labels every single compound just in case the nutritional label doesn't show
-as much as coco bickers with madison, they were somewhat nice to each other, and would give each other presents (mainly to show off their money). coco would usually buy expensive designer clothes or body washes/lotions while madi buys designer makeup and sex toys just to tease (coco would first seem disgusted but secretly takes some of them...)
-coco and mallory did everything together, and i mean EVERYTHING. they slept in the same bed, they ate meals together, they went to class together, hell, they accompanied each other to the bathroom. they never left each others side. eventually, they labeled one of their lunches as a date, and kept doing that until they had an actual confession and ended up having sex
-coco barely remembers anything of the alternate timeline, but knows that she really hurt mallory and practically spoils her. and, you know... apology sex. ya know
mallory
-she remembers everything. she fucking hates it. but she manages
-when she has nightmares or anything of the sort, coco always kisses her face to ground her (omg), and makes her hot cocoa, and jokes abt the name
-loves reading books and since shes the next supreme, she read a lot of autobiographies of past supremes and other witchy studies (EXACTLY like zoes reading)
-mal spends a lot of time with cordy, mainly because cordy is more of a mom to her than her actual mom. they do groceries together (misty and coco tag along ofc), they go on late night walks together, and all the stuff that moms are supposed to do
queenie
-cordy never actually knew why queenie left the coven, so when she found out after the apocalypse, she felt super bad. she ended up surprised queenie with a whole group of new witch students who were black, and thats how queenie was convinced into fully rejoining the coven
-queenie being on the council of witchcraft gives her way too much power, but she uses it for good. she once offered making covens open to all genders, especially because a lot of the "girls" being sent to robichaux were under the trans umbrella. even though her offer was declined, cordy had the academy renovated and made genderneutral bathrooms everywhere, and got queenie the title of "Head of Minorities in Witchcraft". queenie teaches classes on both the seven wonders and voodoo for those who are interested
-along with mal, queenie remembers all of the alternate timeline. queenie also passionately hates lady gaga's music because the voice reminds her of the countess (HA)
-is simply a queen as she has been for the entirety of her life

Old habits die hard, ok?
Requested by an anon: “i kissed you goodbye by accident - old habits die hard okay?!?!” for the prompt thing :))
Rated T. 1.5k words
They’re watching a movie together. In a very platonic, strictly friends way. Because that’s the way they do things now—platonic and friendly, absolutely no intimacy besides the kind that comes with being close, comfortable friends with a person. Hugs and heads leaned on shoulders? Great. The occasional hand holding or cheek kissing? Fine.
A couple weeks before, things would have been different. They wouldn’t have made it twenty minutes into the film with out Emma’s tongue down Killian’s throat or his hand down the front of her leggings. And then after a round or three of some decidedly un-platonic actions, they would lay on the couch, sated, long enough to rewind to a point they both remembered and finish watching.
She had been the one to initiate the turn their friendship took—simply telling him they should have sex after a few too many drinks on a particularly bad date. He’d been hesitant at first. Wanting to wait until she was of sounder mind before taking that step, he put her to bed and told her they could discuss it another time. But all of his reservations flew out the window when she’d shown up at his apartment the next night with a bottle of wine and some lube (which he took out of her hand with a cocky grin and an “I don’t think you’ll be needing this.”)
She started it so it was fitting that she’d end it.
Emma felt that things were progressing into something distressing, a territory moving beyond the friends with benefits boundaries they had set for themselves. Killian’s gazes grew a little too long, a little too longing. And the summersaults being preformed in her stomach were in a league she was unfamiliar with. That, coupled with a few, too close for comfort close calls with David arriving at… unfavorable times, brought her to the conclusion that their relationship should go back to that of the simply friends variety.
Killian had taken it in stride. He’d sat silently through her jumbled rhetoric, observed her nervous expression when she finished, and said “No sweat off my back, Swan. Actually, there will be a lot less sweat on my back now that—” She cut him off with a hand over his mouth and a stern look. And in a brief bought of seriousness, he told her that he was fine with whatever she decided and only wanted her to be happy and comfortable.
She didn’t ignore him, per se, for the two weeks following that conversation but she also didn’t make it a point to reach out to him or really even return any of his calls or texts. But she was a big girl and while things may be awkward, she wasn’t willing to add further strain to their friendship. So after a “Don’t do this, Swan” text and a pep talk she gave herself, she texted him, asking if he wanted to have a movie night.
He kindly accepted, choosing not to question her as to why she’d been ignoring him. Which leads to where they are now, watching Remember the Titans on the couch in his living room, while Emma lies with her feet resting in a seated Killian’s lap, his hand resting on her ankle.
It’s good, comfortable even. The movie is one she’s seen enough times to where she figured it would be a safe choice in case she was too unbalanced to focus but, thankfully, she’s able to focus fine. There is popcorn and candy and they’re both relatively good at remaining quiet during movies, so there’s no awkward conversation.
It feels like what they did before sex got involved. She should have known it would be like this, shouldn’t have spent so much time aggressively ignoring him. Because Killian would never make her feel uneasy and the connection they’ve always had was solid and special.
It’s natural. Too natural.
After the movie ends, Killian shifts, grabbing her feet and standing up from under her before placing them back on the couch. He grabs the empty beer bottles and popcorn bowl, placing them in the sink.
“Alright, princess,” he sighs when he’s once again standing next to her. He takes her hands in his own and pulls her up. “I cherish your company but I also know you have to be up early for a meeting and I don’t dare to come between you and a full nights rest.”
“It’s not that serious,” she argues weakly, already walking to his front door with his hand at her back.
“Right. You’re perfectly good at functioning on little rest,” he says solemnly, opening the door for her. “I must have been thinking of the other Emma. She’s a right terror in the mornings, even with a long amount of sleep.”
He’s obnoxious and obnoxiously adorable so she does what she’s been doing for the past few months and leans forward to kiss him—as a goodbye and a way to shut him up. It’s a nice kiss for all but a matter of seconds before she realizes what she’s doing and that she's not supposed to be doing it.
She pulls back expecting… Well, she doesn’t know. Indignation? Anger? But all she sees is an open mouthed, dazed expression.
“Old habits die hard, ok?” she explains, trying not to appear flustered but she can feel the heat in her cheeks. “I—” She doesn’t have any more words though because she doesn’t entirely have thoughts right now besides what the hell did I just do? So she spins on her heels and walks away, leaving him standing, slightly shell shocked, in the doorway.
He texts her the next morning and tells her that he understands perfectly if she needs space but not to take it on his account, that he realizes that it was just a slip, falling back into a familiar pattern, and he’s not upset. And she just… adores him, with all of his kindness and acceptance and understanding. She wonders if she possibly made the wrong decision in ending their friends with benefits situation. Maybe, instead, she should have done the opposite and progressed it.
Once that thought is in her head, she can’t get it out.
If it were anyone else, she’d be driving herself into a tree rather than entertaining these thoughts. But it’s Killian. So instead of contemplating suicide, she decides she needs to talk to him.
When she shows up at his apartment, unannounced, he appears mildly surprised but opens the door widely and extends his arm in a gesture for her to come in.
“Swan, to what do I owe this surprise?” he asks, the corner of his mouth turned up.
Actions speak louder than words and at this time, she not entirely sure she has the courage to form them. So she does something sure to surprise him even more and kisses him.
It feels right—his lips pressed against hers, his body pressed against hers. She thinks she made the best decision until he puts his hands on her shoulders and gently pushes her away. Leaving her standing frozen, a little bit hurt and a little bit confused.
She thought he wanted this. He was into it before, certainly seemed to be having enough fun. Maybe his feelings have changed. Maybe he’s decided they’re better off friends and nothing more.
She’s two seconds from fleeing when he scratches the back of his neck and grimaces slightly. He opens his mouth, closed it, then opens it again.
“I know it’s habit but I… I really can’t stand for you to keep doing… that,” he fumbles his words, hardly making eye contact and she’s ready to snap at him. Tell him she’s sorry her kisses disgust him. But he continues “I need these lines to stay clear. It was hard enough for me when you put and end to this before. I don’t… I can’t handle that again.”
“Oh,” she says softly.
“I’m sorry, love. I don’t mean to put you on the spot like that.” He smiles weakly.
“I took some time thinking things over after you texted me and I’ve come to a conclusion. I’m going to make these lines as clear as I possibly can. I want to continue kissing you. I want to continue having sex too. I also want to start going out on dates. Well, maybe just one date, enough to make things clear. And I want to start sleeping here more often and leaving shampoo and underwear here. And we can tell David and whomever you want to tell.”
By the time she finishes, his weak smile has turned into a damn near blinding grin.
“Is that clear enough for you, Killian?”
This time he’s the one attacking her with a surprise kiss. Or surprise kisses, littering her face from the hairline of her forehead to the dimple of her chin, the apple of one cheek to the other, peppering them along her jaw and down the bridge of her nose. “Crystal,” he murmurs before finally settling his lips against hers in a long, hard kiss, backing her up against the open door and shutting it with the force of their bodies. He pats her hips and then moves his hand down, hooking it above the back of her knee to lift her against him.
“Can we start on the continuing to have sex part now?” he asks, breathing hotly against her neck. She can’t see his wicked grin but she can feel it. “To keep things clear of course.”
“Yes but only for the sake of clarity,” she responds rolling her hips against his.
“For clarity.”

"Get a room."
That was the last time you had heard Swiss grossed out. Or irritated. Or both. Either way, it was only the last time because they were gone. And that left you, alone with only the past memories of the ghouls.
Specifically your ghoul had left for the states tour recently, taking himself away from you with a final kiss, holding you by the hips with adroit hands while you stayed back at the ministry. Swiss had groaned out of the way Dewdrop held you like you were slipping through his fingers, body tempting to through his hands like liquid iron, scowling at the burn of you leaving him. Though in reality, it was the exact opposite.
And Swiss may have been right - Dewdrop was into a disgusting amount of PDA, but they all were that way. I mean, who would have the confidence to correct them on the way they always had their hands on their partner. They took advantage of how fearful everyone was of them.
Maybe it was the commitment part that confused Swiss. You had fully agreed to be Dewdrop's a few months prior, him genuinely taking your hand for as long as you could keep up with him. And you had, of course, agreed. You wanted to keep up with the eager ghoul for as long as you could breath. Or if you begged to Satan enough; as long as he'd grant you prolonged life.
But here came another part; the ghouls weren't used to seeing Sodo so hooked on one person. They could understand his affairs before you, only going to women in the heart of his desire. But with the appearance of you, they could never wrap their heads around the way he was always so touch starved, so craving of love and affection from you.
And now this had been the first ritual he had to go away while you two were together. You'd never had him leave while he was this close to you. When you were friends, he had left once, and you missed him a large amount, but it wasn't enough to ruin your day. Now though, now that he was yours, it was definitely enough to ruin your whole week.
You walked outside of the ministry, a stone path in a safely wooded area leading you on your way around. It was distracting, listening to the birds echo each other, a tune of union between certain species and mating of others. Whatever they had going on allowed you to bask in the comfort of it.
You tugged on the end of your hoodie sleeves. Well- Dewdrop's hoodie sleeves. You'd taken a select few, dressing down for the days you truly didn't feel good - and those had become frequent. The rules had been fluctuating since Papa Nihil had passed - Copia was a much more open-minded man. And dress codes became open-minded as well.
And you were happy for that. Because Dewdrop's scent lingered on ever piece of clothing he let you snatch off of him. Sometimes, you even shoved them under the covers of his bed and let them lay, hoping they'd pick up on Dewy's leftover scent from when he last slept. But as you lifted the front to huff in the smell of him, it was faint.
You looked around, feeling your eyes burn and your heart start to ache. Is this was it felt like to lose a lover? Dewdrop wasn't dead of course, but he also wasn't present. He was somewhere where you weren't allowed to touch him. Where he was so far that it felt like he didn't exist no more.
Your walk came to a crossroads; either head back to the ministry, or take a walk further into the forest. You tried to peep at the building through the trees blocking it, creating a blinder to only see a few glances of the holy place. Everything would be the same if you took a longer walk. And so you turned down the path right of you, making your way further into the foliage.
Leaves crackled while being blown in the wind, and you squinted your eyes as a gust blew at you harshly. You hair wiped around and you cursed, regretting turning this way. You looked back to see that the ministry was getting smaller and the trees disguised it more and more. But you saw faint lights up the road in the surprise of the setting sun, a van pulling up from the gravel path that kept the ministry connected to a road about 3 miles away. That wasn't just anyone, was it? New recruits usually had to walk but the eerie road to the ministry. But the van. There was only one thing-
You felt adrenaline course through your veins in a moments notice, running the same way you did when you joined the ministry, but this time, you didn't have tears streaming down your face. A smile instead. A few branches brushed along your skin, one scraping the side of it hard enough to leave a irritated mark on your cheek.
You huffed as you finally made into a clearing, seeing a familiar mask peek out of the van. Mountain. And as you got closer, another. Rain. You feet slapped to a stop on the gravel, watching Sodo exit with a happiness to the way his tail swung.
And then, you caught his eye after he heard the sharp breaths you were taking. The fire ghoul rushed at you with a quickness you'd never seen from him before, knocking against you in a desperate hug. You stumbled on your feet, trying push into him just as much. His arms clamped around your waist securely, locking you to his form. His leg stepped between yours, the other on the outside of your dominant one, like they both wanted to tangle with your own.
His hands pressed against your back like he was trying to get you impossibly closer. You returned the needy hug with your own wanting hands, grasping at the back of his coat. It felt like you'd dropped all the weight off of your body when you touched him, and in a way you didn't want to ever let him go. You pressed your forehead into him.
"I would say ew, but it's a bit of a relief seeing you two actually together again."
You peeked out from Dewdrop's arms with now open eyes. You didn't realize how much hugging him felt like waking up from a much needed nap that you were too busy to have. But recognizing that feeling sent warmth through your chest.
Seeing that Swiss was standing next to you both made you burst out in laugher. Dewdrop removed his head from where it was laying on top of yours and looked over at Swiss as well, "It's surprising that you're saying it."
"Well, when you're always in a bad mood cause your 'snuggle-wuggle bear' is back at the ministry, I start to miss her as well. Specifically you and her. I forget that you became an exclusively two-in-one package," the multi-ghoul teased with a roll of his eye.
You stuck your tongue out at him with equally childish behavior, "You're just upset that I gets Dew's attention more."
"Definitely," he said, dragging out the letters in the word.
Sodo grinned, watching the way you so effortlessly teased one of his best friends. His tail curled its way around your leg. He planted a kiss on your cheek, returning to his post of holding you close with his cheek resting against your soft hair. Dewdrop was home.

Rumors
Corpse Husband x Bimbo!Reader (Female)
Warnings: Mentions of Slut Shaming, Swearing
Genre: Fluff, Tiniest bit of Angst, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: When some rumors start floating around, every content creator does their best to either ignore them or defuse the situation. However, sometimes, the fans attempt to do the defusing themselves which only leads to a worse disaster. That’s the case for Corpse whose fans were quick to jump to his protection of some ‘false’ rumors.
Requested by Anon. Hi dear! Thank you so much for your request, it was a joy to write. I’m sorry for how long it has taken me to complete and post the fic but here it finally is and I hope you enjoy reading it at least half as much as I enjoyed writing it! Love, Vy ❤
Corpse cracks his knuckles, then his shoulders, then his collarbone, then the his neck. He clenches his jaw as he breathes steadily and rhythmically, trying to control an overwhelming wave of anger that he has never felt before. This is a situation he’s never had to deal with nor did he ever think he’d have to deal with and address on a fucking livestream on top of all, but here he is now, doing his best to count to ten and not go on a Twitter responding spree, calling people out on their bullshit. He wanted to do so, he still wants to, but he was stopped in his intentions and brought to a calm mindset where he was swayed into dealing with this the civil way and not by roasting the fuck out of any and every foul-mouthed person he’s seen on his Twitter timeline.
He can’t really guarantee and civility during the stream either, he’s aware his tolerance is as thin as a stretched out, old rubber band and is a slight tug away from snapping and allowing him to unleash hell on these people because of who he’s been seeing red these past few days.
Let’s not risk a misunderstanding here - Corpse absolutely loves and adores his fans, but seeing this behavior from them is quite upsetting and disappointing. When he uses the terms like ‘assholes’, ‘jerks’ and ‘rude motherfuckers’ he isn’t referring to them. He knows they are good people, but are using the completely wrong tactic of defending him, not to mention he doesn’t even need defending. Even if he did, he’s more than capable of doing it on his own and not getting other people involved.
“Hello everyone, hope you’re doing well.“ He finally settles on saying, officially kicking off the stream. If there’s any indicator of the serious nature of this stream, it’s probably the lack of lo-fi and the lack of even attempted playfulness and cheeriness in his voice. That’s how you know shit isn’t to be messed around about. “I just realized I didn’t specify what I’ll be doing in the Tweet, but I’ll tell you now, so those who aren’t interested in the subject or want to steer clear of the drama can leave. However, I wouldn’t advise clicking off considering this will be an overall, how do I say this, rant, of sorts? It’s meant to knock some sense in the people who have been spreading hate for a specific person on all social media platforms she’s active on.“
The majority of the viewers are already familiar with the subject, some even guilty of spreading the hate Corpse mentioned, but there are a few that are completely clueless - the ones actually not interested in online drama, not just saying they ‘hate drama’. With those people in mind, Corpse takes to addressing the issue from its very beginning.
“So, for a month now, me and this streamer, who’s also a TikTok star, by the name of Y/N have been interacting a lot on social media. She’s an incredibly sweet girl that a lot of people have prejudice towards. She’s very misjudged and misunderstood because people see he solely as her content, if that makes sense. They only know she’s that streamer who wears revealing clothes on her streams and posts risqué pictures on her Instagram. Like, no.“ Corpse cannot even fully believe he has to address this and that slut-shaming people is still a thing in the twenty-first century. He closes his eyes for a moment, fist tightening and his knuckles turning white, “I don’t understand how so many people can be so shallow and just plain jerks towards her in general, but then again - this is especially for my fans, the members of my fandom - I don’t understand the need you guys feel to put Y/N down to defend me from some ridiculous rumors as if it’s the first time I’ve had to deal with people talking shit for attention or to get someone canceled.“ He sighs, reminding himself to slow his roll as to not confuse any viewers who still don’t know the full story, “Anyway, back to the timeline of events. So, considering we’ve never interacted before, all the replying to comments, retweeting, liking posts and whatever sparked some dating rumors. Isn’t that just fucking hilarious - you see two people interacting on social media and the first thing that comes to mind is that they’re in a romantic relationship. Where did the friendship go? Does no one value or consider friendships to be a valid type of human relation anymore?“ He runs a hand through his hair, making another pause to clear his mind and prevent his frustration from overflowing. He promised he wouldn’t lose his cool and would remain calm and collected, but the more he talks about it the tighter he clenches his fist and the faster his heartrate is. His neck and ears are red from the tension he feels all over, almost like he’s physically restraining a raging wild animal and not just his own thoughts and emotions.
There’s layers to his anger, the lower ones - aka the ones he’s yet to get to - will be a nightmarish test of his self-control, he already knows it. Judging by how much of a toll this rant has already taken on him, his patience and control growing thinner and thinner, he’s not sure how he’ll power through the last layers without his voice raising awfully high in volume and his fists searching for some object to punch. To an ignorant eye, his reaction would seem exaggerated and overboard, but little does that ignorant eye know...
“When some of my fans saw those rumors, they reacted very badly. It was quite disappointing to see. Guys, I appreciate you standing up for me even though you shouldn’t do that - I can defend myself, not that this was a matter I needed defending from to begin with. But just the way some of you went about it was horrifically wrong and quite upsetting, to me but especially to Y/N herself.“ He can feel it, the aggravation growing, bubbling up in his chest, “What I saw disgusted me, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. The things some of you were saying...I couldn’t believe you are in fact the same people who are my fans, my lovely fans who I’ve always thought so highly of. Never did I think you could be able of slut-shaming so vulgarly and grossly, I couldn’t believe what I was reading.“
He has every right to be upset - the things being said about Y/N were truly awful and a lot of things being said were meant to defend Corpse and defuse the rumors, doing so while stomping all over Y/N and her content. Rightfully so, many of her fans were outraged and quick to jump to her defense but were unfortunately outnumbered, leading Corpse to believe not many of her fans are actually real or as dedicated as his which only fueled his fury further.
Anyway, let’s take a look at Y/N’s point of view. Being a content creator for as long as she has, refusing to change her style no matter how many people disagreed and insulted her about it, she’s grown quite used to people spitting insults at her on every social media possible. It’s sad how throughout the majority of her content creating career she’s only had haters, creeps and fake fans watching her videos and streams. Rare are those in her fandom who’d actually stick up for her and defend her in ‘scandals’ such as this one. However, no amount of experience with dealing with hate could have prepared her for this outpour of some of the meanest shit she’s ever heard and been called in her life.
Y/N likes the content she makes, she’s comfortable in her skin and loves her body. She loves showing it off too and nor she nor anyone who wants that deserves to be shamed for who they are and what they do, especially when they aren’t hurting anyone and their content is still appropriate. People have always bashed her for all elements of who she is: her appearance, her clothing style, her streams, her gaming skills, her voice on occasion. She can count the instances when she’s received positive feedback on the fingers of her hands which would depress anyone else but not her. She’s always created content for her own amusement and entertainment so people’s opinions never really bothered her. Until now, until this very drama that has hit a specific nerve, an insecurity of hers she’s never talked about. The comments such as:
(Vy Speaking: Comments containing slut-shaming ahead, go to ### if you want to skip)
“Corpse would never date a slut like her“
“Corpse dating this thot? Please internet stop being ridiculous“
“Corpse ain’t a pimp, y’all need to chill“
“Even if they datin they gon break up soon - whore stays a whore“
###
bothered her far more than she’d like to admit. She has no one to open up about it either, she knows what she’ll get in response if she does - she’ll be told it’s her fault. Her fault because of the way she dresses, the way she talks and acts, because she chose this career to begin with. All her fault. The only person she can turn to she refuses to because she doesn’t want to be a bother - not after so many people confirmed her worries that she’s not good enough for him already anyway, the least she can do is avoid bothering him the best she can.
And that is exactly why this has upset Corpse so much.
“Here’s a little message specifically meant for those who claimed I’d never date someone like Y/N or specifically Y/N. You better listen carefully: Don’t you ever, and I mean EVER slut-shame my girlfriend or any other person ever. I cannot believe I have to explicitly remind you that your behavior isn’t ok. You should fucking know that your behavior isn’t right and that you’re a massive piece of shit for saying those awful things about others you judge solely on appearance and clothing. Does it surprise you that I am, in fact, dating Y/N? If you say yes for the reason you think she’s not good enough for me or that I deserve better, please get the fuck out of my fandom. No one disrespects my girl and gets away with it. That’s final!“
Though still under the influence of a flurry of negative emotions, overhearing Corpse literally telling people to exclude themselves from his fandom for being mean to her, Y/N’s taking a step towards emotional recovery knowing her boyfriend will always have her back. He’ll always be there to prove people wrong, defend her and stand by her. He’ll be there to catch her when the hate knocks her off her feet.
But most importantly: he’ll never ask her to change. Not her style, not her clothes, not her personality, nothing. He fell for her the way she is and for who she is, and he will never allow anyone to try to change her either. For someone who’s never had much support all her life, a single speck of support overpowers all the hate within the blink of an eye. Corpse will always be her knight in shining armor, the knight who defeated all the hateful demons by just entering her life. And though she’s still struggling with the ‘Am I good enough for someone so wonderful?’ and ‘He deserves better, doesn’t he?’ questions, with his hand holding hers, she’ll never let those doubts and insecurities overpower her.

Hey bestie , I love what you write . Can you do one with mason , where they are dating and she gets negative comments and like she feels very bad but didn’t tell him . At the end he finds out and he takes her defens .💕💕
thank you for your request :) sorry it took so long x
Summary: Since you and Mason made your relationship public three months ago, you have received negative and abusive messages from fans. But when everything takes a drastic turn, Mason is there to protect you and takes to social media afterwards to shut down all the abuse and threats.
Warnings: Derogatory language
Tumblr media
I'll Always Protect You
"Mason deserves better"
"Slut"
"You're not even that pretty"
"What does Mount see in you"
"I wish he'd just hurry up and break up with you"
"Lets be honest, you wouldn't look twice at him if he wasn't who he was"
"You're just with him for the money"
"I know where you live"
"Break up with him, we know where you live"
These were just some of the many Instagram messages I would receive daily. Some were just calling me names or making me out to be a gold-digger and the sorts. But those on the worse end of the spectrum, those threatening me made me feel sick in the stomach. They had started just over three months ago after Mason and I had gone public with our relationship and they hadn't stopped, only gotten worse. I hadn't told Mason about any of them, I mean surely all of the threats were empty, just a series of words strung together to try and scare me. But part of me was scared that if Mason saw them, he'd start to believe them himself.
"What you looking at, baby," Mason asks from beside me on the bed, sounding concerned. I realised that there must've been a shift in my emotions and immediately plastered a smile onto my face.
"Nothing, Mase," I reply, my voice unsteady. I hate lying to him.
"Tell me you're not reading one of those stupid articles about us again," he says, looking at me, a look of sadness on his face. On top of the private messages I had been receiving, there were a few articles online from gossip sites and even big newspaper companies slating our relationship. Of course, Mason knew about those, there was no way to keep them quiet.
"I don't care what they say, I love you," he would affirm every time he saw one or caught me reading one.
Mason had stayed over at my house last night, not yet moved in with each other, but today wasn't one of the days we could have a lazy day. A day spent cuddling up to each other in bed, doing nothing but watch films, or catch up on the latest episode of 'Married at Frist Sight', which Mason would repeatedly remind me he hated (he loved it really). But, unfortunately, Mason did have training on my day off. I felt him press a kiss to the top of my head before the bed dipped beneath me as he started getting ready.
"I'll come and pick you up later and we can go out for a meal or something," he promised as he opened the door thirty minutes later, pecking my lips lightly.
"Sounds good," I smile, "I love you,"
"I love you too," he says before closing the door and making his way to his car.
Tap. Tap. I looked up from the TV to look around for the source of the tapping noise. I noticed it almost straight away and my heart skipped a beat. There was someone outside my window, tapping on the glass, wearing a black balaclava. I froze in my seat, my hands shaking. He continued tapping for a few more seconds before moving to another window and continuing. Then he moved to the door, jiggling the handle in an attempt to open it. At this point, I start to panic, even more, rushing around looking for my phone.
"Where is it..? Where the fuck did I leave it..?" I whisper to myself as I rush upstairs, extremely distressed. I find it on my bedside table in my room and immediately dial Mason. Ring ring. Ring ring. Ring ring.
"Come on, pick up, pick up, Mase." Ring ring. Ring r-.
"Baby, you can't be missing me that much already, I've only been gone for ten minutes," he jokes light-heartedly.
"Mase..." I say, unable to form a coherent sentence.
"Baby, what's wrong? What's happening? Talk to me," he says, concern evident in his voice.
"Someone's outside, they... they were at the window... tapping it. And... And then they... they started trying to open the door. I can hear them shouting through the letterbox and hitting the door. Mase, I don't know what to do," I say, tears streaking down my face.
"Shit... I'm turning around right now, I'll be back as quick as I can, lock yourself in the bathroom or something, just in case they get in. Stay on the phone," I nod, trying to steady my breathing. On my way to the bathroom across the hall, I can hear the abusive muffled shouts. I pray to God that Mason can't hear what is being said through the phone.
I hear Mason's car pull up in the driveway and his car door slam shut. I unlock the bathroom door and race downstairs where I can see him attempting to confront my perpetrator before he runs away. I open the door, tears of terror still staining my cheeks. Mason sees me and runs over, pulling me into a hug
"Hey, hey it's okay, they're gone, I'm here now. I've got you," he comforts, taking me back into the house and sitting me down to calm me down.
"I didn't think they were being serious..." I say under my breath.
"Baby, what are you on about?" I try my best to play it off as nothing, but Mason won't listen.
"It was just a few messages, it doesn't matter,"
"Show me them," I reluctantly pass him my unlocked phone and he scrolls through my message requests.
"Why didn't you tell me..." he says with a frown, clearly upset that I had not confided in him.
"I thought that if you saw them, you'd start to believe what everyone was saying,"
"Oh, baby..." he whispers, pulling me into his chest, "Nothing anyone says will ever change how I feel about you. Go and get yourself a bag packed and you can come to training with me,"
"It has recently come to light the amount of hate, abuse and downright threats have been hurled at my girlfriend, Y/N. And to tell you the truth, I'm disgusted. So, I've come to Instagram to address it.
I was unaware of how much abuse had been projected onto her until earlier today when I read some of the messages she has been receiving on both Instagram and Twitter. Most accounts claimed to be Chelsea fans, but as I'm sure all of my teammates would agree, to verbally abuse one of our partners, someone that I LOVE, does not qualify you as a Chelsea fan.
I had obviously seen all of the news articles, those I could look past, but the threats became very real today. I am sure that those of you who messaged threats like "We know where you live, break up with him," were all just empty words. But today, I had to drive back to Y/N's house after leaving for training after receiving a phone call from her, telling me that someone was tormenting her in her own home. If this happens again, it WILL become a matter that will need to be treated more seriously.
Finally, I would like to say that no online abuse of anyone should be tolerated. People in the public eye have feelings too, they are human too. It is never okay to attack someone for loving who they love. I know that this message will not stomp out all of the abuse, but I hope that the majority of you are mature enough to take what I have said into account and will consider what you say before you send it.
M19" I read aloud to myself when I see that Mason has posted. I feel a pair of arms snake their way around my waist, pulling me closer into his body. Mason.
"Thank you for protecting me today,"
"I'll always protect you,"
Sorry I'm taking ages to write requests, I have been so busy with coursework and homework as of late. That, and posting about 30 things about the match today. So, sorry for the spam, but I hope you enjoyed this request! <33

Fool
Pairing: Sakusa x Reader
Genre/Warnings: NSFW, Yandere, Rape/Non-con, Manipulation, Degradation
Summary: Your body might be the most spotless and pristine it’s ever been, but you’ve never felt more disgusting, more filthy in your entire life.
Requested by Anon
Sakusa quietly walks besides Komori and you while the two of you giddily chatter about one thing or another. He honestly could care less about his cousin and his new friend. He has more important things to worry about. Volleyball, nationals, school, staying healthy and clean. Who cares about a random girl his cousin started talking to? But then you slowly become a permanent fixture in their group. The three of you walk to and from high school together every day. You all study together, exchanging notes and information. You simultaneously bite into store bought onigiris after school.
At first he talks to you out of sheer politeness, accepting the fact that he might as well make a bit of small talk considering how he’s going to see you every day at this rate. But as time goes on he finds himself actively joining in the conversations, seeking you out at lunch time, and hanging out with you on the weekends. He finds himself looking for your face in between class breaks, nagging you to wear your face mask, and thinking of you even when you aren’t with him. But he doesn’t dwell on it. Volleyball is still the top priority in his life and the three of you graduate from high school as close friends, but nothing more than that.
It’s hard to keep in close contact during college since the three of you are in different universities. Texts are exchanged once in a while. Sometimes he’ll open his phone and see Komori and you littering the group chat with stupid memes and mindless nonsense. On his birthday he’ll get a phone call from both of you, but that’s the extent of it. Well, that’s the extent of it for him. A sickening feeling coils in his stomach when he opens social media and sees a photo of Komori and you at brunch on a random weekend and he wonders if he might be coming down with something. But the dark feeling lurks and festers in him as he sees more photos of just the two of you out and about shopping together, eating together, partying together.
Sakusa knows that Komori and you have always been closer than him and you. It’s Komori who’s always been your first choice when you need help with something. It’s Komori who’s the first person you run to when you want to share a funny post you saw. So he shouldn’t be surprised to know that the two of you hang out frequently without him, but that doesn’t stop the green eyed monster from growing bigger and bigger inside of him. It keeps on expanding within him as college continues until all he can think about is you.
As soon as he wakes up, he turns on his phone and scrolls through your social media feeds. Whenever he has a second of spare time, he finds himself flipping through photos of you. Right before he goes to sleep, he goes through old text messages you’ve sent. He has to stop himself from throwing his phone against the wall in anger whenever Komori’s face beams up at him, far too close to your own smiling face and with an arm slung far too familiarly over your shoulders. The three of you see each other in person a few times a year during college breaks, but it’s not enough and having Komori there only fuels the urgency within him.
He hasn’t seen you in a while. Now that you’re all working, it’s hard to find the time to get together. You’re only free on weekends, but that’s usually when Komori and he are traveling for volleyball games. But that doesn’t mean you’re not on his mind. Quite the opposite in fact. Absence makes the heart grow fonder after all. Sakusa hates jacking himself off. There’s something so primitive and disgusting about the whole thing and he grimaces at the sticky feeling of his pre-cum, but he can’t even keep count of the amount of times he’s waited for Bokuto’s, Atsumu’s, and Hinata’s breaths to even out in their shared hotel rooms before opening up his phone and looking at his favorite saved photos of you while stroking himself off. He recoils in disgust when warm liquid spills across his hand, but when he imagines how pretty you’d look licking it clean for him, it’s suddenly not all that bad.
It’s one of his very few free weekends and he makes his way to his seat in the audience before settling down and watching Komori and his team warm up before their match. He internally groans when he feels the presence of someone sitting next to him and immediately starts trying to shrink in on himself in order to minimize any contact with the other person. “Sakusa?” His head turns so fast his mask almost flies off when he hears the familiar voice. He can feel his chest tighten when he sees you so close to him and his body instinctively leans closer to you, drawn to the woman he’s been fantasizing about for years. The two of you catch up, but he’s hardly paying attention to the actual words as he watches your lips move, as he watches your hands wave in the air, as he watches your eyes sparkle. He can feel his fingers twitch, desperate to see how soft and warm you’d be in his hold, desperate to touch someone in a way he’s never felt before. He usually abhors the idea of physically touching anyone or anything, but when it’s you, there’s nothing he wants more.
He snaps back to attention when you loudly cheer for Komori and anxiety springs up within him when he realizes they’re almost done with the second set. No, no, no. This wasn’t enough time. He needs more of you. His thoughts spiral as he thinks about how to keep you with him a little longer, but then it clicks when he sees the adoration in your eyes as you attentively watch Komori racing across the court. His eyes darken when he sees the way you look at his cousin and he knows exactly how to get his way.
“Hey, Komori is going to come over to my place tonight. You’re more than welcome to just hang out with me after the game ends until then. It’ll be nice for all three of us to hang out again. It’s been a while.”
His jaw clenches at the way a blush of red tints your cheeks when he mentions Komori’s name, but he digs his nails into his thighs as he waits for your response. He knows he has you. Hook. Line. Sinker. And sure enough, you beam at him and excitedly agree. It’s nice to have you alone to himself and if he dreams enough, it almost feels like the two of you are on a date as he walks with you to his place, pleasantly conversing all the way. He can’t help but think you fit perfectly in his apartment. It just looks so right to have you in his home and he hides his smile with the cup of tea in his hands. But time passes far too quickly and he can see the way your leg begins to twitch when you ask him exactly when Komori will be arriving. His grip tightens and he forcefully takes a deep breath before he accidentally breaks his mug and gives you a tight smile, assuring you he’d be here soon. It’s time to finally set his final plan in motion.
He gets up to refill your cup, but just as his hands draw near you, he drops the entire pot on you, covering your entire shirt and lap with the liquid. He makes a show of panicking as he attempts to wipe you down (relishing in the feeling of your body beneath his hands as he rubs much harder, much longer than he needs to) and he almost smirks at how naive you are as you assure him it’s completely fine. Mistakes happen. He practically shoves you into the bathroom with a fresh towel and some of his clothes as he urges you to get clean and dry before leaving and closing the door behind him. But he doesn’t move an inch after that. He waits right outside the door and he can feel himself getting aroused as he hears the rustling of clothes and you shuffling around. He imagines how you look, completely stripped down and vulnerable. Thank God it’s not going to be just an imagination anymore.
He waits until he hears the shower begin to run, until he hears you clambering inside, until he hears you sweetly humming to yourself and then he moves faster than he’s ever moved before as he rips the door open and barges in, slamming the door behind him and locking it with a resounding click. You shriek when you see him and you yell at him to get out, but it’s no use and he has you on your knees, your head submerged under the water still cascading down from the showerhead. Your eyes clench shut in an effort to keep the water out as you take panicked gasps of breath through your mouth. It’s so hard to breathe when water is pouring on your face. It’s so hard to think when you’re caught off guard in a situation you’ve never even had nightmares about. You frantically claw at Sakusa’s arm that has a tight hold of your hair, but you instantly stop, instead aiming for the hard object that’s being shoved into your mouth. It’s disgusting and yet vaguely familiar. Kind of similar to when you accidentally get shampoo water in your mouth...Realization dawns on you and you try to spit out the bar of soap lodged in your mouth, but Sakusa’s grip is relentless as he shoves it in and out of your mouth, making sure to scrub it against every inch of your orifice that he can reach. You almost sob in relief when he finally removes it from your mouth, but that turns into pain when he jerks your head back until the shower water is pouring into your mouth and when it’s full, he slaps a hand over your lips and orders you to gurgle before finally shoving your head back down where you gag and heave as you spit the soapy suds out.
Mouth finally empty, you plead for him to stop, to explain why he’s doing this, but you cringe when he coldly looks down at you and says he’s not done cleaning you yet. You try to shove past him to get out of the enclosed space, get out of his home, but really, what chance do you think you have against a professional athlete, against one of the best volleyball players in the country? It’s embarrassing how easy it is for Sakusa to force you on all fours and you brokenly cry as he lathers his hands with the bar that had just assaulted your mouth before pumping his fingers in and out of your tight pussy, using the flexibility of his wrists to twist and turn, touching places you’ve never been able to reach yourself. Sakusa’s not even trying to provide you with any pleasure, intent on just making sure you’re completely clean before he uses you, but he’s so thorough and persistent with his movements that you can’t help the way your juices begin to leak as his fingers rub against every crevice.
He pulls his digits out in disgust as he sees the sticky coat you’ve left on them. “You’re such a fucking whore. Do you get turned on just from being cleaned? Do you like being filled that much? Don’t worry. I’m more than happy to give you what you want.” You shake your head in denial as your tears mingle with the water still streaming down on you, but you moan as Sakusa shoves his cock into your dripping cunt. He grips your hips so tightly his hands turn white and you rapidly pant as both of you adjust to being connected so intimately. But there’s only so much patience Sakusa has after lusting after you for years and he starts a punishing pace, pulling all the way out before fully slamming back into you with every thrust. Internally you beg him to stop, beg him for mercy, but the only things that spill from your lips is moan after moan as he fills you so well and you’re almost grateful for the fact that water is still coming down, the sound of drops hitting the shower floor blocking out some of the lewd humiliating sounds echoing in the small room. You feel something hot, something alive crawling from deep within you. It doesn’t feel like a normal orgasm. It seems bigger, more daunting and you clench your teeth and fists, trying to not let it out, but it’s no use and you scream as you erupt. Sakusa scowls when he sees the flood of liquids that pour out of you. What a fucking mess. And yet, you somehow feel even better like this. Sopping wet, quivering walls milking his cock. And that’s all it takes for him to release deep inside of you, letting your pretty hole hold his mess. He glowers down at the disgusting mix of transparent and white liquid that trickles out from you and that sticks to his length when he finally pulls out.
“Open your mouth.” You obediently follow his order. What use is it to fight now? Now that he’s already used you? He has you suck and lick his softening shaft until every remnant of fluid is gone and you gratefully pull off of him and collapse on the floor, glad that it’s all over. You glare at him, angry tears in your eyes as you spit out scathing insult after insult at him. “How the fuck could you do this to a friend? One of your closest friends? Someone you’ve known for years?” He rolls his eyes as you continue with your pointless rants, but he perks up at your next line.
“Wait until Komori gets here and I tell him exactly what you did.”
You falter when Sakusa begins laughing and you stumble back as he suddenly lurches towards you, but there’s nowhere for you to run and you squeal when he grabs the detachable shower head and holds it right above your pussy, still oversensitive and raw.
“Oh, Komori’s not coming. He doesn’t have time for dirty sluts like you. But maybe after I clean you up again, he’ll think about sparing you a minute.”
You howl as Sakusa once again reaches for the bar of soap and begins harshly rubbing it all over and inside your reddening flesh and you don’t know if it’s fueled by pain, pleasure, anger, or betrayal, but you keep on howling as your rose-tinted dreams of a friendly libero are ripped to shreds by the black haired monster above you. You howl until your voice can’t make any more sounds and then you just lie there under the now cooling water still spraying down on both of you as Sakusa continues. Your body might be the most spotless and pristine it’s ever been (it certainly feels like it is with how rigorously Sakusa scrubs you), but you’ve never felt more disgusting, more filthy in your entire life as he releases load after load inside of you, letting you feel, letting you know how foolish you are for ever thinking you had a chance with his cousin, for ever thinking he’d let you be with anyone other than him. And as the night drags on and on, you can’t help but begin to agree with him. What a fool you are.

First Kisses (Haikyuu - pt. 6)
Title: First Kisses (Haikyuu - pt. 6) aww crap the final part-
Genre: floof. Mega floof.
Pairing: Ushijima/Eita/Tendou/Shirabu/Goshiki x Reader (all separate)
Notes: Sadly, this is the end of the Haikyuu boys series! I hate typing that up, but it’s the truth. And I can still do some of these for other fandoms if you readers like these. Also, I think I’m going to make a directory once I get some requests posted (following this, of course). Would that make things easier for people to find the request rules and masterlist? Probably - why would I even bother asking that question?
Also, I apologize for the amount of cursing in this. I’ve been trying to cut back on it when writing, but it slips sometimes. Again, terribly sorry!
Anyway, read on if you wish! I hope you enjoy!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Masterlist
Tumblr media
Ushijima Wakatoshi
ushijima is a simple and straightforward man
so, it can be easy to assume that he’d want someone that is very straightforward and simple as well.
that doesn’t immediately translate to them being stoic and constantly stone-faced, though.
someone that can be considered blunt (to a fault), yet still remains very sociable and charismatic.
yep, they’d be somewhat popular for their aura.
otherwise, i imagine that he’d want to the kiss to happen in private.
but, something would happen during it that’d kind of ruin that.
like, imagine that the two of you are on a date.
something very easy-going, maybe even a study date.
there’s definitely some small snacking going on, though.
so like,
the two of you would be reviewing your notes.
the both of you had been at it for a bit of time, too.
you were getting tired, you could tell that he was too, and you were determined to fix this.
so, your plan?
you discreetly pull your bag over to your side.
while he didn’t notice the initial action, he was pulled from his study-coma due to the sound of a zipper.
he didn’t look over his shoulder until you had tapped his bicep
(that felt absolutely beaUTIFUL MY GOD-)
you had a simper on as you waved a small gift card to the nearest fast food restaurant,
“are you getting hungry, too? i’ll pay.”
he glanced down at his unfinished work, and while he did have second thoughts
he did realize that he was hungry when his stomach rumbled.
it embarassed him a little, but he knew that he could trust you enough to be vulnerable
(as vulnerable as he felt being around you)
his lips twitched up into a small smile, and that was all the confirmation you needed.
you grabbed his limp hand and pulled him from his seated position
while the normal person may have shied away, you’re dating the tall guy
so his height led to him towering over you
and you found the whole scene to be adorable
(as did he, but he wouldn’t say that - he still had a filter of a kind)
either way, the walk to the random restaurant was spent in comfortable silence
(aside from the grumbling stomach sound.)
(seriously - both of your stomachs were growling obnoxiously loud, and it left you surprised as to why not a single person had even given you nasty looks.)
(just some odd food for thought - holy shit. food.)
ANYWAY
when you reach the place, you order your food
it couldn’t have taken any longer to come out
and you were getting a little impatient
a little habit you had whenever you were starting to become agitated was making him melt,
you were starting to scrunch your nose up and mess around with your fingers.
you were also starting to pout.
(yeah, that even sounds adorable. to him, the view is an absolute masterpiece.)
when the food comes out, though
your face lights up from the previous expression, and the way you just glowed in the sun-
holy-
he would die from a cuteness overload, and it’d be your fault.
so, you may have momentarily broken ushiwaka.
good job!
either way, you two got the food and had made quick succession of walking back to your work to sit and relax.
and yes, while the food was greasy and slightly disgusting, it was quick and allowed you more time to do your work.
though you were unaware of his actions when eating, he was almost too aware of yours.
you were actually going through the food somewhat cleanly, but the way that you smiled when you made eye contact with the food
(if that would even be possible)
either way, your lips curled up in the most sweet expression, and
holy-
“you look cute.”
you paused.
‘did he really just say that?’
you blushed, of course
you blinked, you stood and you came to
“r-really?”
he nods, you blush brighter, and he decides that he just has to do it now.
“can i...”
his ears are turning red as he’s speaking.
“can i kiss you?”
you nod, and he awkwardly reaches up to cup your cheek
you turn even redder and he leans in
but he pauses, and you finish the motion for him.
you both are shocked by the actions that both of you had just done
but the feeling of each others lips together?
yeah, that’s forgotten.
you both get a little closer, a little more rough.
there is a lot of control in it, though that doesn’t negate any of the messiness that comes with something like this.
two teenagers that haven’t had a real relationship or kiss, just doing this for the first time?
yeah, this is gonna be a bit of a tough ride.
but as tough as it is, it still manages to be very loving.
the two of you indulge in the moment since, honestly, both of you have some trouble with your emotions.
it doesn’t last though.
and it’s not because of you two, no-
it’s because of tendou.
the boy barges in on you two, flips his shit, and jumps the gun immediately.
you laugh, ushiwaka smiles (see above, absolutely precious)
and everything just slowly gets a little more comfortable between you two following the kiss.
overall, very awkward and very inexperienced.
but still very loving and controlled, with the passion still coming through.
and the scenery?
couldn’t be more perfect.
private (somewhat), intimate, and most definitely quiet.
perfect for the both of you.
(plus, you got to tease the living crap out of the giant guess monster afterwards due to his reaction.)
(jokes on him, he talks a big game in this area, but he can’t own up.)
Tumblr media
Semi Eita
boy here is a savage
and a borderline tsundere
so, i find that he might be attracted to someone similar to him in that sense
very competitive, very passionate, and very hot-headed
but definitely better with their emotions than he is
they’d be more open to letting their emotions out, but they’d also radiate bbe
(read: bad bitch energy in spades)
which i also think would mean that the first kiss would happen in an area that would be very emotional to the two of you
possibly a first date spot, possibly a spot where you two just share some huge memories (aside from the first date spot)
but it also wouldn’t happen right out of the gate
nor would it be completely happy
like, imagine this
sooo
gym.
the volleyball gym.
you two had your first run-in with each other there
you both also had your first date with each other here
(just, i imagine that there would be something super attractive and glorious about the gym, possibly a skylight or something under the stars)
(seriously. can’t leave school grounds? picnic in the gym under the stars, people will think you’re helping me train.)
and to top all of that off, that was where tendou and goshiki pushed you two into each others arms and made you confess to the other.
(yep, you guessed it - you’re a manager, and a 3rd year)
and, with you being a third year-
here you are.
you two are nearing graduation,
you’ve been dating a for around a couple months,
and you both wanted to relive your memories before you break away from the high school that you’ve attended since you were younger
so, yeah
a very emotional day and following.
so, the both of you had just gone to the cafeteria, the old dorms rooms that were looking barren
seriously, the rooms that the third years had been in were getting cleaned before graduation
which just so happened to be up and coming within the business week.
yeah, cue the tears
(oh wait, you already cried a fair amount a while ago and you’re saving the remaining ones for graduation.)
either way, you were pretty down about the whole thing
as was semi
and the both of you just needed the comfort of each other
just visiting the places that brought you joy over the years.
the gym was the final spot, and it was one that the both of you had silently agreed upon visiting.
the stars were out and the time was brushing 10 pm
you two had gone through the motions throughout the day, but now?
you both wanted nothing but to imagine a night under the stars, much like the past dances
so you did
you had pulled your phone out of your pocket, set it right up on full volume
and played a slow song
semi had wrapped his arms around your waist, yours around his shoulders
the comfortable aura from the both of you made you both calm down
and allowed the both of you to get lost in the moment
you were able to ignore the looming feeling of sadness that would most definitely follow
so, that being done, you got lost in each other under the stars
you were eyeing the way his eyes seemed so drawn into yours, the eye contact being so intense
the way your bodies just molded together
the way the music made the atmosphere lighten up
just...
an overall perfect moment.
and here, here is where that perfect moment was taken advantage of.
“can i kiss you?”
you paused for a second and blushed, but!
“yes, semi, you can.”
you leaned up and kissed him.
he smirked when you did it, but responded nonetheless
and, in typical semi eita fashion, it was very passionate.
you were just as driven as him, so your response was equal to his
there was no making out or any trace of a french kiss, but
it was super sweet and loving, despite the snarky attitude the two of you carried.
it lasted a fair while, and since it was under the night sky
and was also in an area that was secluded, especially at that time of night.
so yeah, when you two pulled away, you both went on with your action of slow dancing under the stars for the second time.
so, overall?
very sweet, as well as passionate
and yes, while i did hc them to happen during an emotional time,
the two of you would take the comfort you feel from each other, and manifest that into the kiss
(and its also an emotional moment for people that act like semi and his s/o’s headcanon).
but, again,
very long, passionate, loving, and romantic
(holy shit, who would’ve guessed-)
and it was everything you could have asked for while slow dancing with each other
under the moonlight
with the stars reflecting the other
beautiful. just beautiful. and perfect.
Tumblr media
Tendou Satori
tendou is a tease, right out.
he’d want a s/o that can dish out what they can take.
and that includes any jokes, “insults”, and pick-up lines that are thrown to either of you.
so, someone witty (and a little sarcastic)
also athletic.
for some reason, i can just imagine the two of them just running around for the hell of it
like racing each other into grocery stores or the mall, maybe even the gym
and like, measuring up enough to tie on race wins.
they’d definitely be shorter, but their stamina would be nearly endless
but the kiss i feel would come up out of the blue.
possibly in the hallways to tease the living crap out of each other in the middle of an “insult” battle
so, basically just imagine the two of them are walking from lunch
and they were going at it
semi, reon, and ushijima were starting to get annoyed, but they found of the things you were throwing at each other
still doesn’t make it any less annoying
(honestly, they were just staying close to see who would win or call it time-out before they reached class.)
“so what, tall-ass? at least i don’t have to duck when walking.”
“yeah, and you? i don’t have to worry about jumping whenever i have to avoid you when you’re biting ankles.”
“oh, this again?”
i think you get it.
either way, things were taking a turn for the more impulsive
you had begun to target his shonen, he had begun to target your movie genre obsession
yeah, when you both hit those targets?
things were getting bad.
so, being the parental figure that he is, semi had tried to break it up
and he did...
“guys, calm down. i don’t want to have to separate you in the damned hallways.”
you two quieted down for a bit and laid off the borderline offensive banter
“thank you.”
but semi’s attempt only lasted for a few seconds.
“okay, but seriously, you still aren’t caught up on the last volume, what makes you think you have the right to-”
“one more word, and i’ll kiss you.”
the five of you were still walking, but 80% of the group straight was caught off guard.
you, despite being part of the 80%, still refused to back down when you were still shocked
“oh really?”
“yep. keep going, i dare you.”
“you don’t have the guts.”
“you sure about that, doll?”
“oh, damn straight i am.”
“keep it up.”
“gladly.”
this continued on for a while, pushing to an end when you two reached the hallway for your classes
but tendou was determined.
and time was still plentiful.
so when you spoke next, well...
“okay, just face it you won’t-”
and he kissed you.
straight up, in the hallway, in front of the eyes of many students.
and he wasn’t shy about it in the slightest
tendou went full messy on you, you responding similarly.
the shock of it definitely wore off quickly for you.
it was filled to the brim with passion
and yes, while it was a ‘shut up’ tactic,
it worked wonders for the both of you, seeing as this type of stuff would have been expected of the both of you
didn’t make it any less loving though
(at least, after the initial force.)
so, if you know what i mean, this lasted for a while.
(translation: make out session)
yep, you two straight up shared tongue in the hallway
(and you may have been pulled closer to him and laid against the wall as the people started to disperse following the action and it’s suddenness)
just, quite literally, a surprising mess.
and it took a few to get you two away from each other
(literally, semi stayed behind to try and pry you guys apart but was dismissed when a teacher had come by the scene.)
(yep, you two got pried apart and given a warning)
10/10, would do it again.
overall, though-
again, 10/10, would do it again
seriously.
that kiss is passionate, messy, and borderline sexual
BUT
that doesn’t mean that it is any less loving
(see above for author here’s repetition of the same sentence)
plus the breathlessness that comes with the whole experience
holy shit, yes
plus the scenario in which it happened as well as the setting?
oddly perfect for the two of you
casual, comfortable, and open
(yeah, i can’t imagine the kiss happening anywhere but at school don’t @ me)
Tumblr media
Shirabu Kenjiro
first things first, this boy is a hardass.
but he’s also the only member of the Shiratorizawa volleyball team that didn’t get in on an athletic scholarship.
so, that being said, his s/o would most likely be someone highly intelligent
like, if he’s in class 4, they’d either be in the same class or a higher one
either way, highly intelligent
i also have the feeling that he’d have to have run-ins with them near constantly
think like, team manager?
they’d would also be very introverted and responsible
he already was drawn to their intelligence, what else could be asked aside from basic college-prep class student other than responsibility?
and the introversion is simply because the man is a man of action, i’d reckon
otherwise, for the kiss.
well, it’s in the library.
the two of you had decided to study together before the exams
you both got in on academic scholarships, so you both had to keep the grades up.
it didn’t necessarily help that the two of you also had little time on your hands because of volleyball practice and games.
(stress runs high in this household, y’know?)
 either way, you find a way to work around the stress and go on your merry little studying way
(AKA ‘hope-to-god-that-i-don’t-absolutely-lose-my-mind-before-exams’ way)
besides the point, you had been wanting to kiss him as of late.
seriously, you two had been together for a good few months now
and you both wanted to take things slow
but the perfect moment had come and go many, many times
and you were starting to get a little POed.
‘does he not want to kiss me?’
‘does he not like kisses?’
‘does he not like me that much?’
yeah, you are intelligent but you are also pretty insecure
(and also very pretty, but since people find your straight face kind of terrifying, not many of them talk to you - not like you care, after all.)
and while none of that is true, from his perspective, of course
shirabu is just shy.
yep, that’s all it is.
he’s seen the moments, he’s wanted to take the chances
but things just haven’t worked out for him.
it’s always at the worst times, and frankly-
it was getting annoying for the both of you.
for different reasons, of course
but annoying nonetheless.
either way, you two came to the library to study, not make out in the surprisingly hidden area that you had chosen-
ANYWAY
you both got down to business quick.
flashcards, notes, textbooks, you name it
you needed it, you had it
and the both of you had an amazing grasp on the subject matter
so you both went about your normal study process
(that had been modified to match the library)
things had been going smoothly for a while.
there had been a few slip ups, on both ends, but there was still a few more days beforehand and you both planned to tear into the study material as they continued
so you’d both be fine in the long run.
you still weren’t happy with it, though.
it’s not a surprise that you two had decided to take a small break to hone and get some water.
and while shirabu took the water and small snack route, you took the opposite
you had shoved your face into your notes and reviewed what you got wrong, even going to the extent to annotate the notes you already had with extra information from his notes and the subject textbook.
shirabu had been watching you as you concentrated,
eyes grazing over the information with intensity that only intrigued him
(holy shit, i sound like i’m preaching something, why am i like this-)
the way your bright eyes practically glowed with drive
god, it drove him wild.
and whether it was the stress coming to a head, or just the look in your eyes-
hell, maybe even the lack of care that you had for your health-
he just had to kiss you
(distraction, aid, or not)
he knew that now was the perfect time, that this moment would be the best time to do it
so he knew he had to suck it up
and that he did.
he was still hesitant in his approach, though.
“s/o, look at me.”
“hmm? whaddaya nee-”
straight up smooches you midsentence.
the uncharacteristically bold move shocks you, but he makes it quick
(or at least quick enough to distract you from overworking yourself)
and as quick as it is, my god-
it is passionate.
veyr rough, very forceful,
but he was careful not to hurt you.
either way, the love and lack of hesitance came through.
and safe to say, the messiness was very prominent as well.
on one hand, though, you stopped pushing your head so hard to study
and you also managed to take the hint.
“so you felt that too?”
“yeah, i did. now stop studying and get some water, idiot.”
you chuckled at him, but did it nonetheless.
you two spent the rest of the time huddled closer together, as well.
(you two didn’t realize the third years peeking through the bookshelvesn watching this though)
(”my god, our little second years are growing up! T_T”)
overall, though
given the preciseness of the kiss, you both felt content with it for the time being
(i know, a short kiss despite the many times it failed? damn.)
but yeah, given the circumstance, it worked for the both of you.
the library setting, too, holy-
just, overall a great kiss
short, sweet, a little messy, and very shy
(just like your relationship lol)
(sidenote: you two got teased relentlessly by tendou, but semi shut it down quick.)
Tumblr media
Goshiki Tsutomu
can we cover this first?
this boi is awkward.
yes, he’s driven. yes, he’s capable. and yes, he is intelligent.
but that doesn’t negate awkward.
this is why i think he’d have to know his s/o before dating them.
they would be aware of his little quirks and habits, as would he.
but they’d have to be much more sure of themselves in other areas in order to help push him forward
he does the same, of course, but he’d have an odd time handling it.
so yes, they’d have to be sure of themselves and, possibly, even motherly
patience and tolerance would be key to support this boy.
that being said, i have a feeling that he’d try to make the first kiss happen with a cliche romantic build up
i mean, he’s not stupid, but he most definitely is unaware of how to deal with romantic endeavors.
(that is actually kind of adorable, but hey - he’s oblivious to things like this, so tell him.)
otherwise, he started the date off in a typical manner.
he had walked up to get you at around 5 pm
you had the okay to skip dinner with your family/guardian for the night, you were prepped and ready in your flowing outfit \
(vague for personal reference)
he had also come prepared, dressed nicely and clean
holding your favorite flowers in his hand, possibly even some small candies for you (that are also your favorite)
just overall, you could tell he had paid attention to the things that you liked
(no duh though, you two have been friends for years).
either way, he had everything planned.
and it started off with a picnic at the park.
what else would he hold the candies in?
you thought the basket he was using was a little oversized for candies alone
and you were right.
he had everything that he could bring (and knew wouldn’t rot) with him.
what he didn’t know is that there was none of the food he had originally packed in the basket
and the blanket he had prepared wasn’t there
(his mom had taken the basket he was supposed to use and he took the one she had - potluck problems).
safe to say, you both didn’t really like the food in the basket
and worse yet? the food was nasty with a capital N
yeah, that part of the plan was bust.
your alternative?
McDonald’s.
some small amount of money for some small amount of fast food?
good enough.
not for goshiki, but hey - what can you do?
otherwise, his next plan was fairly simple.
he’d planned to meet his mother at the amusement park later that night to trade off the basket and enjoy some rides with you.
(and his plan included the ferris wheel)
anyway, since the ‘meal’ didn’t last long, you settled for walking through town.
and you did, but...
it rained.
and the both of you got soaked.
it didn’t last long, thankfullly, but boy oh boy...
goshiki was starting to get a little depressed.
you noticed, and reached for his hand.
if things weren’t working out, you’d find a way to replace it.
right now, it was calling your older sibling to come and get you from where you were and taking you to his flat
(it was the closest)
either way, he had come by and two had decided to change into off-hand clothing that had been stored there
(you left some clothes there for when you wanted to see your brother and fell asleep, your brother had some old clothing that fit goshiki)
either way, the awkwardness settled
your brother left you two to your own devices as he had some quick college assignments to complete.
so you two decided to watch a tv show you both liked while you waited.
eventually, it happened as such.
your brother had left his room after it was complete and, to keep some secrecy, pulled your brother aside to tell him the plan.
he agreed, and goshiki’s first kiss plan held a chance.
eventually, as 7:30 rolled around and it started to get dark, your brother told you two to get your stuff and get in the car
“we’re going to the carnival - y/n i’ll pay for whatever you need.”
you both just went along with it.
when you arrived, goshiki walked off for a little bit before running back to you and taking your hand in his.
your brother had already bought a good amount of tickets for you two to use, so you were in the clear.
you two had ran around, going on a rollercoaster even!
(you were smiling, goshiki was crying - good times)
but when night fully came upon the sky, he knew he had to act fast.
and, luckily, his luck didn’t screw him over.
the line to the ferris wheel was short, the sky was getting darker by the second, and he could see people setting up fireworks from his crappy vantage point below the hill.
‘perfect timing.’
and indeed it was.
you had been seated next to him and the ride had begun, and the fireworks had been set off.
the lights were reflecting, and the pressure of the night just hit him square in the face.
“hey, s/o, i’m sorry about today.”
“what do you mean?”
“the picnic, the walk...it didn’t work out the way i wanted it to and i’m sorry for that.”
you laughed, making eye contact with him.
your bright eyes made him blush and your smile made him melt.
it didn’t help that the neon lights and the fireworks were reflecting in the depths of your eyes.
he knew that the time was now, but he was afraid that if he took the bold chance, you’d push him away.
you, on the other hand, had a completely different idea.
when he had directed his attention to the floor of the compartment you two were in, you had reached for his chin and pulled his face to meet yours.
you straight up kissed him.
this shocked the boy, but he went along with it and cupped your cheek in his hand as you wrapped your hands around his neck and pulled yourself closer to him
it got more passionate, and much more messy.
hell, you didn’t even realize how breathless the two of you were until the loudest firework went off right as you two reached the top.
you pulled away from each other then
and while the two of you were bright red, you still cuddled up closer to the other for as long as you could before you both had to go home.
but, just in general, holy-
this boy’s whole attempt was the cutest thing, and the kiss?
same way.
honestly, it was shy and so timid,
but it held the messiness of the whole thing still-
it was still immature, no matter the whole ordeal.
otherwise, both of your romantic fantasies were met to the highest standard when you had kissed on the ferris wheel just-
mwah!

“At least give me a hint?” You asked, peering up at Kirishima with hope laced in your eyes.
Kirishima shook his head as you both continued walking down the path. “Nope, no can do. You’ll just have to wait and see.”
You crossed your arms begrudgingly over your chest. “It’s not fair. What if you’re leading me to my death?”
Kirishima chuckled, putting his arm around your shoulders. “Come on! You know I’d never let anyone hurt you!”
“Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re Red Riot for a reason,” you said, wrapping your own arm around his waist as you leaned into him. That morning you woke up and got ready like you did every other morning only for your boyfriend disrupted your plans as he entered your apartment unannounced and whisked you away, claiming he had somewhere he wanted to take you. No matter the amount of questions you had for him, you followed him anyways and here you were, still walking down the street as he led you to wherever this mystery destination was.
“Alright, we’re here!” Kirishima exclaimed.
You rose a brow in confusion, dazily blinking at the sight before you. “What’s this?”
“What do you mean? It’s a park!” Kirishima said, stating the obvious. He walked over past the front gate of the park, sitting down on one of the wooden benches. He patted the space beside him and you sat down, still bewildered about why he had taken you there in the first place.
“Eiji, I’m still so confused,” you said after a few minutes as he just sat and watched the families playing in the area along with those who were working out and doing other physical activities.
“Do you know what this place used to be?” Kirishima asked, still looking off into the distance as he watched with a smile at the numerous kids running around and playing amongst each other.
You shrugged. The park was in Musutafu where you and Kirishima spent a good amount of your adolescence in back in your respective high schools. As time progressed you both strayed away from the city, pursuing your career and Kirishima becoming a pro hero. But since you and Kirishima were dating, you eventually moved back to Musutafu with him although you lived separate from one another for the time being.
“How could you not recognize this place? This is where your cafe used to be!” Kirishima said.
“Really? That was here?” You asked in astonishment. “It’s been so long since that place closed down I forgot where it was. And this whole place looks completely different.”
“Yeah, I passed by here a few days ago and that was when I realized.” Kirishima looked down with a smile on his face. “That cafe meant a lot to me… it’s where we first met.”
You grinned along with him. “Even though I hated that place sometimes at least that shithole gave me you.”
Kirishima laughed at your words, his nerves calming slightly thanks to you. He felt beads of sweat forming at the back of his neck and his forehead, taking his mind off the crucial task he wanted to fulfill in a matter of minutes as he listened to the sound your voice as your reminisced on the time you met the love of your life.
***
Back when Kirishima was in U.A., he would find himself stopping by a cafe which was on the way to his school that sold the best meat buns. In his first year he would go almost every afternoon after school just for one meat bun but sometime in his second year, he saw an unfamiliar face behind the counter. It was a girl who seemed to be around his age. She seemed laidback, conversing with customers when needed but overall was detached. Above all else, she was absolutely beautiful to the point where Kirishima nearly choked on his own breath at the sight of her.
Quite evidently that girl was you, a teenager who was helping her father run his cafe after school. Although you didn’t want to be there on most days, some customers made your experience worthwhile.
And then there were some that made you feel absolutely enraged.
“Give me your number, I won’t hurt ya,” the sleazy man said as he continued to attempt to flirt with the young girl who was quite obviously uncomfortable with his harassing.
“Please leave me alone,” the girl said in a low voice, trying to evade eye contact with the creep.
“Come on, I know you want me,” the man said as he slid his disgusting hand towards the young girl’s bottom.
At that moment, Kirishima had walked into the shop after a long and productive day at school. He was ready to step in but was stopped by your voice as you tossed a used coffee filter at the man’s head. “She doesn’t wanna talk to you, you dumb fuck,” you spat in disgust.
The girl managed to get away in time, quickly thanking you as she sped out the door. The man, who was now covered in coffee grounds reached out to grab you from over the counter until Kirishima stepped forward and grabbed his wrist, forcefully bringing it down to his side. “Hey, man, why don’t you just leave before you make things worse for yourself?”
The man shoved Kirishima’s hold from his wrist as he stepped backwards, making his way out. He made sure to give you a piece of his mind, spilling out profane words from his mouth as he left. You simply rolled your eyes, flipping him off before turning to Kirishima. “Thanks for that. I deal with enough assholes like him so it’s nice to have some help.”
Kirishima chuckled. “No problem!”
Since that day, the bubbling feeling in Kirishima’s chest grew the more he saw you. From the first time he saw you, in which he was a bit hesitant to speak to you since the encounter with the sleaze, your conversations with Kirishima only expanded the more you saw him. You were assertive, a trait Kirishima admired, and weren’t afraid to speak your mind. But at the same time you were chill and Kirishima couldn’t help but blush everytime you knew his order by heart with a wide grin on your face.
For the rest of his time at U.A. High, Kirishima continued this routine of visiting the cafe initially for its meat buns but in reality he was satisfied everytime he saw your face.
Sooner rather than later, Kirishima eventually graduated and he left Musutafu to finally pursue his pro hero career. Each day passed and you frowned at the end of your shifts when you realized Kirishima hadn’t shown up that day. Eventually you grew accustomed to his lack of visits and didn’t bother to peer over your shoulder everytime the door opened.
It wasn’t that Kirishima purposefully left without saying goodbye, rather he wasn’t given a break to breathe since he graduated. From being recruited by various agencies to being given a sidekick position, Kirishima was constantly busy. Slowly yet surely he climbed the ranks as the years passed and had managed to obtain a spot in the top ten heroes.
And with this passing time, your life was progressing as well. After graduating from high school, your father gave ownership of the cafe to you as he finally retired. Although you knew you wouldn’t maintain the cafe forever, you still found a way to love the little shop on the corner of the street regardless of the amount of annoying customers you dealt with daily,
You weren’t surprised in the least to see Kirishima’s face constantly wherever you went. You were well aware of his reputation as one of the promising students and upcoming heroes when he was at U.A. so you couldn’t help but smile everytime he was on the news. Even some of your regulars caught onto your little crush as the TV in the cafe would only play anything and everything Red Riot related.
And then that faithful day came, the door swinging open as the bell above the doorframe rang. A sigh escaped your lips as you wiped another coffee cup dry. “I’m sorry, we’re closed.”
“Aw, guess I was too late. I came by to see you again,” an all too familiar voice said with a light chuckle.
You twisted your head around, gasping internally as Kirishima waved shyly to you. You nearly dropped the cup in your hands but managed to catch it in time. “Y-You! You’re back?!”
Kirishima stepped forward, leaning his forearms on the counter. “Yeah, I’m in town so I thought I’d stop by my favorite place for some of your meat buns.”
You narrowed your eyes at him as you crouched down in front of the display case that luckily had one meat bun left. You put it in a bag and slid it over to him. “Guess I can’t say no when Red Riot’s the one asking me for some meat buns.”
Kirishima laughed, rubbing the nape of his neck sheepishly. “Nah, it’s not like that! I’m Red Riot to most people but I’m just Kirishima with you.”
And for the next few days Kirishima continued to stop by your cafe, deciding to pop in after closing time since people would crowd around him when the place was open. Your adoration for him only grew as he did for you. He was a genuine person, one who hadn’t changed despite the years that had gone by and the reputation he had created for himself. He truly was an amazing person.
But to your disappointment, his visits decreased once again until he stopped showing up. You knew you couldn’t be mad at him, understanding that he had a demanding job, one which he couldn’t predict when he would be busy or not. And yet you couldn’t ignore the deep despondency you felt when you realized you wouldn’t see his toothy grin and that those blazing crimson eyes again for a while.
Just like it had before, time passed and sooner than later, a year had gone by.
Kirishima was finally in Musutafu again and he walked down the street with a jig in his step, anticipating the expression on your face for when you would see him again. But he stopped dead in his footsteps, disbelief written all over his face as he saw the front doors of the cafe had been boarded up, signs littered all over the windows. “CLOSED DOWN FOR BUSINESS” was written on the signs and Kirishima felt his heart nearly sink to his feet.
He couldn’t believe it, not wanting to believe that he was too late. He couldn’t help but think that if he were more considerate towards you and let you know when he would be leaving and showing up then he might have made it in time, he might have gotten closer to you so that he could keep in touch.
But it was too late. It seemed that Kirishima would never see you again... or so he thought.
“Kirishima?” Kirishima whipped his head around to the source of the sound, an invisible weight lifting off his shoulders once he saw your figure approaching him.
Small snowflakes began falling gently from the sky as Kirishima let out a breath of air. He couldn’t help but smile at how adorable you looked, your face snug under the fabric of your scarf wrapped around your neck to keep warm from the frigidness outside.
“What happened to this place?” Kirishima asked, gesturing to the closed down cafe.
You let out a sigh, glaring at him. “You know, if you showed up moreoften then you wouldn’t be out of the loop.”
“I know, I know. I’ve been busy with work but I should’ve stopped by more than I did,” Kirishima admitted.
You smiled softly. “It’s alright, I was just joking. I know you’re busy kicking ass out there. But some company bought out the place and the rest of the shops down this road for some construction. Apparently they’re putting something else here. It was a shit ton of money so obviously I wasn’t gonna turn it down.”
“I see,” Kirishima mumbled, glancing over at the building. So many memories flooded his mind of the times he spent at this little cafe, all being bright and making his high school days a little more bearable compared to all of the chaos he faced at U.A. It made him dejected to see he wouldn’t have an excuse to see you anymore.
Or maybe he could change that now…
“Your number,” he sputtered out, extending his arm with him phone in hand to you. “Can I have your number?”
You blinked confusedly at him. “Uh sure!” You took the phone in your hand and punched in your name and your number and waved at him. “Well, I’ve gotta go. I need to sign some papers to officially sell this place.”
He took his phone back, smiling sheepishly at you before parting his lips to say one more thing to you. “I wanna take you out... to make up for all the times I left without saying anything.”
You smirked at the him, patting his shoulder as you walked past him, turning your head slightly to reply. “I’ll hold you to it, hero.”
***
“Can’t believe they turned that plaza into this beautiful park,” you said, leaning onto your boyfriend’s arm.
Kirishima tensed under your touch, his left hand dropping beside the bench to grab a plastic bag that he had left in preparation for the outing. He picked it up and placed it on his lap, pulling a sealed meat bun out from the bag.
You eyed the delicious food in delight, your stomach practically growling at the sight. “Where’d you get that from?”
“I got it from the market we used to go to. Their meat buns are so good.”
You scoffed, snatching the delectable bun from your boyfriend’s hands. “Nothing compares to my meat buns.”
Kirishima let out a laugh. “You’re not wrong there.”
He watched you in fondness as you ripped open the plastic and took a big bite out of the bun. He rose a finger to your lips, wiping away a stray piece of dough from the corner of your lips. Even while devouring food you were gorgeous.
Kirishima reached into the bag once more, gripping the velvet box in his fist. He turned his head to you as you continued to eat. “I used to go to that cafe everyday in my freshman year for some meat buns and I just remember thinking this place can’t get any better. And then you showed up and you gave me another reason to visit everyday.”
You smiled, wiping your mouth with the remaining bun in your hand. Kirishima rose a finger to your lips when you attempted to say something. “Wait, just… let me say this.”
You nodded slowly, slightly perplexed by what he was attempting to do. Kirishima looked down at the box which was out of your view. “I always thought that you were one of the most beautiful women I’d ever seen. And then that day when you stuck up for that poor girl who was being harassed by that creep? That was the day I knew I liked you, ‘cause you were a badass. I always thought heroes who were manly were cool… but you were the coolest. You’ve always spoken up for the things you believed in and it’s something I’ve always admired and loved about you.”
Kirishima looked back up at you, smiling with his cheeks tinting a light pink hue. “And then after all those years I finally got your number and the more time I spent with you, the faster I fell for you. And now after the years we’ve been together, I can’t help but want to be with you forever.”
You smiled from his sweet words, the chewed up meat bun filling your cheeks as you were completely oblivious to what he was attempting to do. “Eiji, you’re being so fucking cute right now.”
Kirishima laughed, his nerves quickly diminishing. “You idiot, I’m trying to say that I want to marry you.”
He pulled out the box with one swift movement, flicking the lid open to reveal a silver band with a ginormous diamond resting on top of it. Your eyes widened as you dropped the half-eaten bun to the floor. You began choking on the meat bun that was in your mouth, coughing profusely from the shock.
Kirishima rubbed your back, making sure that you were alright. “Are you okay?!”
Your coughs ceased as you were covering your mouth and you felt a wet substance hit your fingertips. Tear after tear emerged from your eyes as you began crying uncontrollably. Kirishima was dumbfounded as he dropped the velvet box to his lap. Maybe he shouldn’t have proposed so soon… maybe you weren’t ready…
“I’m sorry… you don’t have to say yes. I was probably getting ahead of myself,” Kirishima muttered, gloom evident in his tone.
You peered up at him through wet lashes and wrapped your arms around him. You held onto him for a moment before you pulled away, kissing him harshly. He was left disoriented, not understanding what was going on. Again you pulled away, his cheeks cupped in your hands as you laughed through your tears. “Why would you even think I’d say anything but ‘yes?’ Of course I want to marry you, Eijirou!”
Kirishima’s face broke out into a grin as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in for another kiss as he felt your tears wetting his face. He thought he couldn’t be happier with the time he had spent with you but in that moment he was the happiest he had ever been. He was now engaged to the love of his life, and he couldn’t believe it.
It all started with his love for meat buns… now he could look forward to his new life forever with you.

If You Don’t Love Me, Pretend - Chapter Nineteen
Four months without uploading she comes back with a new chapter! Thank you so much for your patience i love you guys! I don’t know that I’ll be going back to my previous weekly posting schedule with everything going on in my life right now, but I hope this can tide you guys over until I can finish the story!
read on ao3
Words: 11.5k
Summary: Dan and Phil have some talks about parenting and make plans.
Warnings for this chapter: swearing and a disgusting amount of fluff
It's a few days later when Dan finds himself in his office at school, looking over the schedule change requests that he's received over the past week. He's just added another to the pile of finished requests when his work phone starts trilling on the desk by his elbow.
“Hello, you’ve reached the office of Daniel Howell at Queensbury Secondary School, how can I-”
“Dan, it’s me,” Phil’s voice interrupts him. “Is this a- a bad time?”
"Oh! Sorry, yes- I mean no, it’s a fine time. A great time. I’m just going through some forms. What’s up? Is everything okay?”
"Yeah, everything's fine." Phil clears his throat and there's a pause that Dan doesn't know what to make of. "I’ve been meaning to ask you something."
Dan feels the tendrils of anxiety gripping at his chest now. "Okay," he says slowly, setting his papers down in front of him. "What is it?"
Phil doesn't waste any time. "Well- okay, I don’t particularly want to go, but I know you’re interested in everything that goes on with mental health charities and you told me about the thing you wanted to do at the school, and I think that’s really cool and maybe this will give you a chance to network with people already involved and-”
Dan can’t help but laugh at the rambling words, tripping over themselves in their haste. “Spit it out, bub, what’s your question?”
Phil takes a shaky breath. “So, the BBC is doing a fundraising event for a mental health charity. I wanted to know if you'd like to attend with me." His words are quick and short, like the request is a time bomb and he’ll explode if he doesn’t get it all out at once.
It takes Dan a moment to process the request, and when he does, a stupid part of his brain wants to ask for clarification on the nature of this joint outing. But he's not about to ask Phil if it's a date because that would be both ridiculous and mortifying, and besides, he already knows with his rational brain that it isn't. "When is it?" he asks instead.
"It's next Friday, a week from today."
Dan is opening his calendar as Phil speaks, checking to see if they have any prior events scheduled. They don't, which isn't too strange for a Friday night. He chews on his lip as he considers the offer. He's really interested in mental health charities and it would be great to get some more information about how they work and network with some of the people who actually work there. He's been trying to get the school board to approve a mental health support group for the secondary school for over a year, something only Phil and Louise are aware of. This would be perfect. The only thing holding him back...
"You know we'd have to deal with your nosy coworkers the whole night? And it'll be different being couple-y around other adults," Dan informs him. "I'm not saying I don't want to go, but..."
"I don't care. I think we can handle it, and I honestly don't care what they think about how we're acting or aren't acting." Phil's voice is firm and sure, and Dan wonders if he expected Dan to object for this very reason. "I want you there with me, if you want to be."
Dan smiles down at his desk at this. "Okay."
"You'll go?" Phil sounds mildly surprised, but overall very pleased.
"Yeah. I'd love to go with you."
Phil lets out what sounds like a relieved breath. "Okay. Perfect."
"I'd say see you then, but we live together," Dan jokes. He grins when he hears Phil snort.
"Bye, Dan. I'll see you at home later. Drive safe."
"Bye, Phil."
~~~
It's not until Dan gets home that evening that he realizes that in order for them to go out for an evening by themselves, they'll have to find someone to babysit the kids. It's a strange thought, suddenly. They hadn't really had a situation yet where neither of them could watch the kids, and it was strange to think that he was at the point in his life where he needed to enlist the help of another adult outside of his family to watch his children. He wasn't sure how he felt about it.
After sending all three of the kids off to do their homework, Dan makes his way to the kitchen to sort out their dinner plans for the evening. He's perusing their selection in the pantry when he hears the front door click shut. Rather than go to meet Phil at the door, Dan makes the executive decision to have pasta for dinner, moving over to the fridge to make sure they have everything they need.
"Hey," Phil greets from behind him.
Dan glances over, smiling at him. "Hi. Good day at work?"
Phil shrugs, dropping his jacket on the back of a chair haphazardly before coming to rifle through the cabinet next to Dan. "It was alright, yeah. How was yours?"
"Just another day. Nothing that exciting, I guess." He closes the fridge without looking inside, turning to rest his palm against the counter beside it as he studies Phil. "So, we need to find someone to watch the kids on Friday."
It takes Phil a few more minutes of rummaging through the shelves before he glances at Dan. "Alright. I can ask Martyn if he's busy?"
Dan nods. "That's fine. If he can't, we can find someone else” Dan snorts then, a thought occurring. “Honestly, it’s an hour from here to Reading, Mum could come babysit if we really needed her to."
"Sure." Phil turns to face him with a smile, revealing a little bag of mini marshmallows. He stares Dan dead in the eyes as he rips it open and pops a handful of the colorful treats into his mouth.
Dan quirks a brow, crossing his arms. "You insolent shit, you're spoiling your dinner," he chastises, chewing on the corner of his lip to hide his smile.
Phil shrugs as his hand sneaks back up to his mouth. "Want some?" He offers.
Rolling his eyes, Dan lets out a huff. "You're a child," he says, hauling himself to sit up on the counter as he holds a hand out. "Give me some pink ones, they're the best."
The sheepish grin that lights up Phil's face is definitely worth spoiling his appetite. He steps between Dan’s legs and carefully pours out a small handful of marshmallow treats into Dan's palm, and then proceeds to pick out the white and blue ones for himself. Dan's chest is flooded with warmth as he watches the childlike glee on his best friend's face. It's immensely precious, a secret thought he holds close to his heart.
"I don't think they actually taste any different," Phil's saying. Dan barely hears him. "I'm pretty sure they all just taste of marshmallows. Like, vanilla, or whatever it is that marshmallows taste of."
“Mhm,” Dan hums, the pink marshmallow dust sweet on his lips as he enjoys his coveted snack.
~~~
"Could you pause your game, guys? We wanted to have a chat with you about something," Dan says. He and Phil had agreed that they needed to go ahead and tell the kids about their plans to leave them with a sitter for an evening, so they could go ahead and get used to the idea now. So, after finishing their covert snack, they'd gone upstairs where the twins were deep in a Mario Kart race, Levi coaching them both from the armchair.
At Dan's words, the three of them exchange a series of panicked looks. He'd nearly laugh if his heart didn't break at how the connotation of a "talk" has truly traumatized them forever.
"Everything’s fine, we promise," Phil prefaces, moving to sit on the sofa closest to the stairs. Dan follows, perching on the arm beside him. Almost without thinking, Phil drapes his arm over Dan's thighs, while Dan's arm falls to Phil's shoulder.
"Okay..." Levi says. Jaiden pauses the game and drops the joy-con, turning to face Dan and Phil completely. "Are we in trouble?" He asks.
Dan tilts his head to the side, smiling. "Have you done something to be in trouble for?"
Levi looks confused but shakes his head. "I don't think so?" He sounds unsure.
Phil nudges Dan's stomach with his elbow, gently digging into his skin. "You're not in trouble, bub, no. But, we just wanted to tell you guys that a week from today, Dan and I have an event to attend. So, we'll be finding a sitter to come stay with you that evening."
Amelia immediately perks up. "Can it be Miss Louise?" She asks excitedly.
Smirking, Dan shares a look with Phil. "We'll see. We might ask Phil's brother Martyn and his wife Cornelia to do it, but if they can't, we'll see if Louise will."
She doesn't look particularly happy about it, but Amelia nods in understanding. Jaiden doesn't seem too bothered either way, his hands twitching towards the joy-con as he clearly waits for them to say that was all.
Glancing at Levi, Dan can tell immediately that they're not all on board with the idea. "Levi? Would you be alright with that? It would only be for a few hours."
Levi shrugs, then shakes his head. "Why can't I watch them?" He asks, gesturing vaguely to his siblings. "I'm fifteen, I could stay here and take care of them."
Dan shares a look with Phil. They hadn't considered this. But, knowing each other as long as they have, their mental-symbiosis gives Dan the idea that maybe it wouldn't be the best idea, or at least they needed to discuss it in more detail first.
"We'd prefer to have someone else be here with you," Phil says carefully. "If there’s an emergency or something, we think it'd be best to have an adult here."
Levi shrugs, staring down at his feet and saying nothing.
“But, we’ll consider it, yeah?” Dan adds, sending Phil an imploring look. The older man shrugs, but nods. “Just give us some time to talk about it before we make a decision.”
“Okay,” Levi answers.
Dan moves his arm to pat Phil’s chest. “Let’s go start dinner.”
Phil nods, allowing Dan to drag him from the sofa and off towards the stairs. Dan’s mind is already building a pros and cons list for Levi’s request, so it’s not until they’re already downstairs that he realizes he and Phil are still holding hands. A little embarrassed, Dan releases his grip, mumbling something about starting some pasta.
"So, do you reckon we really ought to consider letting Levi stay here alone with them?" Phil asks quietly, moving to pull two wine glasses from their cupboard.
Humming, Dan pulls a box of pasta from the pantry, looking for a jar of pasta sauce and huffing when he can't find it. "I think we owe it to him to at least have a conversation about it, yeah."
A contemplative silence settles over the kitchen, punctuated by the sound of Phil pouring wine into the glasses. Dan finally spots the jar of sauce, hiding behind a box of crackers. He sets it beside the pasta before moving to the other side of Phil to rummage through the cupboard for a sauce pan.
"Honestly... As long as he keeps his phone on him, and checks in with us fairly often throughout the night... I wouldn't mind him watching them."
Dan's head snaps up at this, and he stares at Phil in surprise. He hadn't expected Phil to actually be on board with the idea. He tries to school his expression into something more neutral as he fills the pan with water and sets it on the stove, clearing his throat before speaking. "Yeah? It doesn't bother you?"
Phil hands him a glass of wine, shrugging. "Not really. I trust him to be responsible. I mean, we let him stay home from school by himself and he was fine."
Dan chews his lip as he stares at the water. He's not sure how to voice his opinion on this without sounding like he doesn't also think it's probably a good idea. "This is different, though," he says gently, blinking up at Phil. "We'd be holding him accountable for two children."
"I mean, yeah. But, I think he loves them enough that he'd keep them safe and be responsible with them." Phil pauses then, a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. "Are you... Do you think maybe we shouldn't let him?"
Taking a sip of the wine, Dan waves a hand dismissively. "That's not it," he says after he's swallowed. "I actually don't think it's a bad idea, I just... I don't know, I just didn't expect you to be so on board with it." He tries not to sound accusing. It's not an accusation.
Phil shrugs, scratching a fingernail against the counter absently. "Am I usually that strict?" He sounds sad, or maybe nervous.
Dan smiles softly. Reaching out, he tugs on the pocket of Phil's hoodie, dragging him closer and resting his head on Phil's shoulder. "Not exactly. Sometimes you're just more cautious about them than I am. You think through the situations more than I do, so sometimes you're a little more reserved about these kinds of things."
There's a soft huff of laughter that ruffles through Dan's curls. "I guess you're right," Phil agrees. He kisses Dan's hairline before gently shrugging him off, moving to grab the pasta to pour it into the boiling water. "So... Have we decided we're okay with letting him stay here with them?"
"I think so, yeah. If you're okay with it." Dan watches him pour the pasta in, reaching for the drawer to hand him a spoon when Phil needs it.
"I am. We'll talk to him after dinner, yeah?"
Dan nods. "Sure."
Phil steps back into his space and wordlessly pulls Dan against his chest again. Dan tucks his hands into Phil's hoodie pocket and hooks his chin over Phil's broad shoulder. Phil wraps his arms around Dan's shoulders and sighs. "You need a haircut," he whispers.
With a snort, Dan tilts his head and bites at a lock of Phil's hair. "So do you, mate."
"Can you call for a hair appointment tomorrow?" Phil requests, his voice a little timid.
Dan can't help but smile at this. Phil's grown his confidence over the years they've known each other, but there were lots of times after first settling into their friendship that he would ask Dan to make calls for him, always claiming he was too forgetful or lazy to do it himself. It took a couple years for Dan to understand the real reason.
"Phil? You alright?" Dan had asked through the bathroom door. Phil had been retching on the other side for close to five minutes now, and Dan was panicking, completely out of his element here. He was barely twenty, he didn't know how to really take care of anyone when they're ill, not like this.
"I'm fine," Phil had called weakly.
"You sound kind of… not fine," Dan had countered, trying for gentle.
It had taken a little while, but eventually Phil caved. "Could you call my mum?"
"Er- yeah? What- why do you need to speak to your mum?" Dan had been completely confused by then. Phil was a massive mumma's boy, but in the year or so they'd properly lived together, Dan had never known him to call her while he was ill.
"I just- please, Dan." Phil had sounded so pitiful, but Dan was more worried now than before.
"Can you let me in, Phil?" Dan had asked softly.
Phil did, but he did not seem pleased by it. He looked everywhere but at Dan, settling back against the tiled floor of the bathroom and closing his eyes weakly. "I need mum to call in a prescription for me."
Dan's brows had crinkled in confusion. "For what?" Before Phil could answer, Dan had remembered Phil mentioning his terrible migraines, and vaguely remembered him coming home with a little white paper bag from the pharmacy. "Your migraines?"
Phil nodded mutely.
“I can call it in. Where's your phone?"
Phil had barely had the energy to look surprised, but after Dan found the phone and called the prescription in, he went about making Phil some soup and doing his best to take care of him as well as he could, with his limited knowledge. Later that evening, with Buffy playing in the background, Phil had quietly told Dan that he had sometimes found it extremely difficult to do phone calls or things like that. “I know it’s stupid and- and everyone else thinks it’s easy, but it honestly just makes me feel so bad that I’d rather just. Not."
"I wish you would have told me," Dan had mumbled. "I can make calls for you. It doesn't bother me."
Many years later, though, and now Dan understands the extent of Phil's social anxiety better than he did back then. Phil does as well, which makes it a bit easier for him to try and get a grip on it, but still, he sometimes struggles. But Dan's always there to help when that happens, and he can't imagine there ever being a time when he isn't.
"Sure. We probably need to get Levi and Jai's done while we're at it." Dan laughs a little before adding, "I reckon we should see if Mia would like a trim, too. God knows that child can't stand to be left out." He smiles against Phil's shoulder when he hears him giggle.
"She really can't, can she?" He muses, his fingers playing idly with the ends of Dan's hair.
"Mm," Dan hums in vague agreement. He sighs before pulling out of Phil's grip to stir the pasta. He pouts when Phil fully steps away, grabbing his glass of wine and taking a large sip. Dan's about to tease him when he hears the unmistakable sound of the twins thundering down the stairs. He rolls his eyes as Phil huffs, clearly slightly agitated at their inability to remember that they shouldn't run inside. "Is it really even worth it to keep chastising them about it?" Dan asks, sipping his own wine.
Phil snorts. "It's the principle of the thing, Daniel."
Still, when the twins burst into the kitchen, Phil doesn't say a word. Dan smirks at him, but Phil pretends he doesn't notice.
"What's for dinner?" Amelia asks, tapping her hands in an off-beat rhythm on the table.
"Spaghetti," Dan tells her, glancing over his shoulder and finding Jaiden staring out the balcony door, probably at his pigeons. He turns to look at Phil, gesturing to their son. "Will you help him with the birds? It's been a few days since we've put seed out."
Phil nods, and Dan focuses on checking to see if the pasta's done. He hears Phil grabbing the bag of bird seed, instructing the twins out the door and onto the balcony. They're gone for several minutes, and when they come back in, Dan glances over at them with a small smile.
"I don't know, Jai-bird. I can't really tell if the birds are girls or boys, but you can name them whatever you want anyway," Phil is saying.
Jaiden seems to consider this. "Could I just name all the fat ones Behemoth?"
Dan snorts.
"Uh, sure, bubby. Whatever you want." Phil sends Dan a baffled look, and Dan only shrugs, grinning.
Amelia and Jaiden settle at the table, arguing over pigeon names, while Phil returns back to the stove, rolling his eyes. Dan smirks, poking Phil in the stomach gently. "Did you find one thicc bird?"
Phil wrinkles his nose delicately. "Ew. Don't say that."
Dan giggles helplessly, stepping away when Phil gestures to the pasta, obviously intending on draining it. He gets as far as the sink, but as soon as he sets the pan down in order to grab the strainer, a little wave of water splashes over the side and onto his hand. "Shit!" he squeals, his eyes flying wide immediately after, glancing between the twins and Dan in a panic.
Amelia gasps. "You said a Daddy word!" She shouts gleefully.
Ducking forward, Dan quickly takes the pan away and turns the cool water on, taking Phil's injured hand and sticking it under the stream. He prays Phil's too stunned to register what she said.
"I'm sorry, I- wait, what?" Phil's head snaps to the side and he glares at Dan.
Well, shit.
"A Daddy word," Amelia repeats, pointing at Dan, as if naming him isn't enough condemnation for her. Dan sends her a dirty look. She just giggles.
"Daniel," Phil starts, enunciating carefully to be heard over the sound of the faucet. "Have you been swearing in front of our children?"
"No!" Dan protests. Phil quirks a disbelieving brow at that. "Okay, well, maybe. But not on purpose! And it was only once," Dan amends.
"Nuh-uh," Amelia argues from the table. "It was twice!"
Dan shoots her a pleading look. "Amelia! Whose side are you even on?"
She hides her laughter behind her hand. "Sorry!" She most certainly does not sound like she means it.
"Hm," Phil hums, sounding unimpressed. "Someone's sleeping on the sofa," he decides.
Dan knows he's kidding, but he plays along, wrapping his arms around Phil and whining. "But... Philll."
"Nope. Shut it, you." Phil tries to keep a straight face as he strains the pasta and returns it to the pan.
Dan releases him long enough for him to get it back to the stove and pour in the sauce, and then he's right back behind him, his arms wrapped around Phil's waist as he nuzzles against Phil's back. "Phil," he starts, voice saccharine sweet. "It's really just a misunderstanding, you know."
"I fail to see how," Phil quips.
Pressing a trail of kisses across Phil's shoulder blades, Dan hums. "I didn't mean to. If I did, in fact, swear in front of them, I assure you it was just an accident. Hypothetically"
Phil seems unconvinced. Dan gently bites at his shoulder. "Yeah, alright. But no more swearing in front of them or we're doing a swear jar."
Dan smiles, kissing the spot he bit. Phil shivers. Dan smirks.
"And," Phil adds, his voice just a touch louder. "You have to make me coffee in the morning. And take the bins out."
At this, Dan scoffs, pulling away enough that Phil can turn around to face him. "No way," Dan argues. "It's your turn to do bins!"
Phil is unwavering, giving Dan a smug smile as he holds up his burnt hand. "I'm injured, babe. Out of commission."
Dan glares. Holding eye contact, he leans toward Phil's hand, nipping gently at the side of Phil's hand.
"Ow," Phil says, with absolutely no conviction.
"That's what I think of you blackmailing me like this," Dan informs him, resigned to his fate.
Phil uses his hand, still just a breath away from Dan's face, to pull Dan's face closer so he can press a kiss to his cheek. Amelia and Jaiden make synced gagging noises behind them. "Thank you in advance for taking out the bins, darling."
"Shut up."

After they’ve all sat down for dinner, Dan clears his throat. “Levi, we talked about next Friday,” he begins.
Levi puts his glass down and turns to face him, his gaze darting back and forth between him and Phil. “And?”
Dan can’t help but laugh at his impatience. “You can stay here and watch them. But, you have to keep your phone on you, so we can check on you guys every hour or so, okay?”
“Sure,” Levi agrees, nodding. “How long will you guys be gone?”
Phil shrugs when Dan glances at him for the answer. "The event starts at seven, so probably no later than eleven, maybe earlier. Will you be alright here?"
Levi's eyes twitch into a roll but refocus when he probably realizes they're both watching him. "Yeah. I mean, they'll basically just be asleep after you guys leave."
"Right," Dan nods. He feels slightly more comfortable knowing that. "We'll make dinner or order takeout or whatever before we leave, and then you guys can do whatever after that." He glances over at the twins then, who have been mostly quiet, probably only passively listening. "But, you two still have to listen to your brother, okay?"
Amelia glances up at this. She smiles brightly and nods. Jaiden blinks, but then shrugs, which Dan figures is probably the best agreement he'll get from him. "What if he makes us go to bed early?" Jaiden asks, sparing a peek over at his older brother, who's rolling his eyes.
"Well, your bedtime is nine on weekends. So, you still have to go to bed at nine," Dan tells him.
Phil taps the table, causing both the twins to look up at him. He's got a mischievous look on his face. "Dan's right, bedtime is still nine on weekends. But we won't be here," he says this very slowly, enunciating every word. "So you have to listen to Levi when he tells you to go to bed..." He glances at Levi, grinning. "At nine."
Levi gets it first, smirking. "Right. Nine pm, sharp. Got it."
"Yep. Nine pm." Phil winks at Jaiden, and after a second, the boy seems to catch on, and his eyes widen with his grin.
"Okay!" He says gleefully.
Dan sighs. "Philip," he says, exasperated.
"Daniel," Phil replies on a sigh, his lips curled up in a smile.
"You can't just..." Dan starts, then stops. Phil quirks a brow, unbothered, but Dan decides this is one battle he can lose, as really the twins going to bed a little late isn't going to hurt anyone.
"What?" Phil asks, almost challenging.
"Nothing," Dan says, dropping his head to rest on his hand. "Nothing at all."
Phil smiles at him, shaking his head before turning back to finish his dinner. "This might be a little premature," he announces after a second, taking a pause then. The kids turn to glance at him, all of them taking a pause from eating at the tone of his voice. If Dan had his phone on him, it would make a hilariously creepy photo.
"Well, go on, then," Dan prompts. "Don't leave us hanging."
With a barely-concealed grin, Phil sets his fork down, clasping his hands together and studying each of their faces carefully. "This might be a little premature," he repeats. "But who would like to start thinking about what's for dessert?"
~~~
Later that night, after all the kids are tucked in, Dan and Phil find themselves getting ready for bed together, going through their usual nightly routine with big yawns and shared smiles. Phil passes Dan his medication and Dan makes sure Phil removes his contacts, and when they’re finished in the bathroom, Dan leads the way to their bed. He yawns as he flicks off his lamp and crawls beneath the covers, blinking in the low light of the room.
“Are you staying up?” He asks once Phil’s settled on his side of the bed.
“Mm. No, I’m exhausted, actually,” Phil hums in response.
Dan gestures vaguely to the lamp still shining on Phil’s nightstand. “Mind turning that off?”
Phil is quiet as he rolls over and pulls the chain, sending the room into pitch darkness. Dan blinks quickly, forcing his eyes to readjust to the sound of Phil shifting around on the bed, trying to get comfy.
“Cuddle?” Phil asks, his hand rubbing up and down Dan’s arm.
Frowning a bit, Dan shakes his head sheepishly. “I’m not really in a cuddly mood tonight bub, sorry.”
“Oh,” Phil sounds surprised. “Okay, that’s fine.” He sounds like he means it.
Dan gently catches Phil’s hand as he retracts it, bringing his knuckles up to his lips for a gentle kiss. Phil lets out a soft sigh at the contact, and Dan smiles against his skin before releasing his hand.
They lay in silence for several moments before Phil speaks. “You’re not upset with me or anything, are you?” He asks, his voice unmistakably nervous.
“No, not at all,” Dan assures him. “I dunno, I’m just... feeling kinda sweaty, don’t really wanna be snuggled. I’m not mad at you.”
“Alright,” Phil replies. A few seconds pass before he says, “I reckon the kids are excited for Friday.”
Dan smiles. “Yeah, cause you had to go and basically tell Levi to let them stay up late. I’d be excited too,” he says teasingly.
Phil giggles. “Sorry about that. But I honestly think they’ll crash early anyway, just out of habit.”
Shrugging, Dan rolls to blink up at where the ceiling would be if it wasn’t too dark to see anything. “For Levi’s sake, I hope they do.” He chews his lip, his mind swirling with a couple thoughts he’s been considering the last few days. “Do you think maybe Levi is still uncomfortable living here?”
“Hm...” Phil considers it for a few minutes before he answers. “I think... maybe he’s having a harder time adjusting than the twins did.”
Dan nods, wincing when he accidentally chews through the skin on his lip, drawing a little blood. He smacks his lips against the metallic taste, nearly gagging as he tries to speak. “Maybe we should try to spend some more one-on-one time with him,” Dan suggests then.
“Maybe. We could go see a movie together or something? The twins could stay with my brother,” Phil offers.
“That might be nice. Do you think he’d even want to spend more time with us?”
Phil laughs at that. “I mean, honestly... if I was his age, I probably wouldn’t. I’d just want to have my own space and be left alone.”
Dan considers this for a while, and they’re both silent long enough that he wonders if Phil’s fallen asleep. The question is answered for him when Phil scoots closer and drops a kiss on Dan’s temple. “Don’t think too hard, love. We’ll figure something out.”
“Yeah,” Dan agrees passively. “We can maybe ask him about it tomorrow, see if there’s anything we can do to make him feel more at home or something. Do you reckon he’s just missing some of his old stuff?”
Phil yawns. “Maybe. Dunno what we’d do about that.”
Dan nods to himself before patting around until he finds Phil’s hand. He laces their fingers together before nudging at Phil’s shoulder, prompting him to roll over to face the door, allowing Dan to be the big spoon.
“Thought you didn’t want a snuggle,” Phil mumbles.
Dan shushes him. Phil snickers.
“Love you,” Dan murmurs against Phil’s hair a moment later, eyes drifting shut. He’s almost hoping Phil didn’t hear him, the words isolated and completely defenseless.
Phil releases Dan’s hand long enough to reach back and squeeze Dan’s hip gently in a fond gesture. “Love you too. Goodnight.”
~~~
There’s a tapping noise coming from either inside Dan’s skull, or perhaps the door. He realizes, somewhere in his soup brain, that it’s probably the door, but given he’s only slightly awake, he’s not completely positive. It stops and starts a few times, and eventually enough is enough.
They’d separated from their cuddle at some point and Phil is flopped out on his back, while Dan’s curled up on his side. Dan nudges Phil’s hip with his knee in an attempt to wake him. “Phil,” he mumbles. No response. “Phil.” Dan punctuates this with a sort of gentle kick to the shin
“Ow,” comes the mumbled response.
“Phil,” Dan whines, exasperated.
“Hm?”
“Door. Go see who’s at the door.”
Phil smacks his lips loudly in his nearly asleep state. “‘M asleep,” he rebuttals.
And really that leaves Dan only one choice.
“Dan!” Phil nearly screeches, flailing on the bed, suddenly blanket-less and exposed to the sharp chill of the room.
Dan hums innocently from where he’s confiscated all their covers. “Go. Door.”
“Why didn’t you get it?” Phil grumbles, even as he willingly climbs out of bed.
Snuggling down into the blankets, Dan sighs. “You were closer.”
Dan listens to Phil’s footsteps and then the sound of the door creaking open. His ears perk up like some weird superpower when he hears sniffling, followed by a tiny, “dad?”
“Oh, come here, Mia,” is Phil’s answering response. Dan imagines Phil wrapping her up in a hug then, and his heart is gripped with longing and fondness.
“I’m scared of the storm,” Amelia admits between shaky breaths.
“That’s okay,” Phil tells her kindly. “You can come sleep with us, baby. Come on.”
“It’s dark in here,” Amelia whispers as Phil leads her to the bed.
“Hold on, love.” There’s the feeling of the bed dipping, then the click of the lamp turning on. Dan scoots back on the bed to make room, holding out his arms with a tired smile, relinquishing some of his covers. Phil climbs back into bed behind her, pulling the blankets to cover himself as well.
“Night, babygirl,” Dan whispers to Amelia, dropping a kiss to the top of her head before letting his eyes drift shut once more.
His serenity lasts for only a few seconds before he feels something poke his chest. “Daddy?” Amelia whispers. “Are you asleep?”
Dan hums. “Mm. Not anymore,” he jokes.
It seems to go over Amelia’s head, as she replies with a quiet, “oh, sorry.”
Shaking his head, Dan brings her to his chest, checking that the blanket is tucked up evenly around her. “It’s okay, love. Are you warm enough?”
“Mhm,” she replies. “But daddy... I left my stuffy in my room.” She sounds positively devastated.
Dan, who had almost fallen back asleep in the time it took her to say that, tries to push out of the haze of sleep to think up a response. “Mm. Do you have to have it?”
“Yeah,” she whispers.
He sighs. “Alright.” Clearing his throat, he blinks over at his co-parent. “Phil. Babe, Mia left her plushy in her room and needs you to go grab it.”
Phil lets out an exasperated sigh. “Dan,” he states, calm but on the verge of annoyance.
“You already got up and lost some of the warm, you’ll be fine.”
“I hate you,” Phil informs him, squinting over at him in the low light of the lamp that still hasn’t been turned back off.
Dan smiles. “I love you too. Get the bear.”
“It’s an elephant,” Amelia corrects softly.
“Yeah, that,” Dan agrees. “Get her elephant.”
Phil makes a huffing noise and leans down to ruffle Amelia’s hair. “You two are lucky I love you both so much,” he says with a resigned sigh.
Dan dimples up at him, endlessly fond. “Thank you, dear,” he calls after him as Phil makes his way out of the room.
Amelia rolls over to blink up at Dan with shiny, tired eyes. “We’ve got a good dad,” she tells him thoughtfully.
Kissing the top of her head gently, Dan smiles. “Yeah, I reckon we do.”
A few minutes later, Phil returns with the plushy in hand. He leaves the door cracked open, and when Dan quirks an eyebrow at him, he shrugs. “Just in case Jaiden wakes up and gets scared.”
Dan’s lips quirk into a soft smile as he nods. “Good idea.”
Amelia holds her little hands out for the elephant, which Phil hands to her before tucking her in. He stays standing beside the bed for a moment, his fingers tapping against his thigh in a jittery sort of fashion.
“Are you coming back to bed?” Dan asks, his tone teasing.
Phil glances at him, shrugging. “I’m debating.”
“On?” Dan asks when Phil doesn’t elaborate.
Phil gives Dan a pitiful look, bringing his hand to rest on his belly. “I’m hungry.”
Dan rolls his eyes. “You’re not eating in bed in the middle of the night.”
Phil pouts. “Not even a little snack? Just a biscuit?”
“Absolutely not,” Dan snorts, indignant.
There’s a sigh, and Phil pulls the covers back, sliding underneath, resigned. Amelia shifts closer to him and whispers something in his ear. Phil’s eyes widen in surprise before he looks to Dan, his face full of glee. “Is that right?” He says, voice teasing.
“What are you two whispering about?” Dan mumbles, feeling very left out.
Amelia glances over her shoulder at him, giving him a very pitiful face. “Nothing,” she says, smiling innocently.
Phil grins before sitting up, reaching over Amelia to gently pet Dan’s hair, definitely a gesture of someone who wants something. “Dan,” he begins, his voice already full of smugness.
“No,” Dan interrupts, staring at him resolutely.
“But-“
“Absolutely not. You get crumbs in my bed, you‘re sleeping on the sofa.”
Phil looks absolutely abashed. “But, Daniel, you wouldn’t send our sweet little girl to sleep on the sofa, would you?” The smugness intensifies.
Dan narrows his eyes, his gaze flicking between the two of them. “What did you tell him, Mia?”
She smiles, patting Dan’s arm gently. “I asked if I could have just a tiny snack. A little one.”
Phil blinks at Dan pointedly. “And how can we say no to her? What kind of parents are we if we let her go hungry?”
Dan snorts at that. “Both of you finished your dinner and had dessert. I don’t think either of you are going hungry.”
“Daddy, just a little snack? We’ll bring you one too,” Amelia pleads, her little brown eyes so full of hope and innocence. Dan has no will against it.
“Fine.” They cheer quietly before he shushes them. “But,” he continues. “You can’t eat in here. I’m not kidding about crumbs in my sheets. Eat it in the kitchen, alright?”
Amelia nods excitedly before climbing over Phil, already desperate for the promise of food. Phil looks positively delighted as he leans over to press a kiss to Dan’s cheek. “You’re the best,” he says happily.
“Mhm,” Dan grumbles, waving them away.
Phil glances over at him, tilting his head to the side a bit. “You coming?”
Dan smiles at him gently, shaking his head. “Nah. I think this should be your thing with her. I don’t think I’m the midnight snack parent here.”
Something fond crosses Phil’s face, and he glances over to where Amelia is waiting for him by the door, scared to go to the kitchen by herself probably. “Alright. Want us to bring you something?”
Snorting, Dan shakes his head again. “I’m not breaking my own eating in bed rules, so that’ll be a no. But keep it quiet, yeah? I don’t want everyone in this house to know the sin you two are up to.”
Phil sticks his tongue out and Amelia covers her giggle with her elephant. “Be right back, then.”
Dan nods and gets comfy while they disappear down the hallway. He listens for a while at the quiet sounds of them whispering, and he’s glad the kitchen is closer to their room rather than the twins’ room. He hears what sounds like clinks of spoons and he guesses they’re probably having cereal. He wants to snort at the predictability of his best friend, but even sitting a room away he can’t pretend to be anything other than fond.
When they return, Phil’s carrying Amelia, who is sleepy and smiley in his arms. He’s got a wide grin on his face, and Dan can’t help but return it when they climb into bed. “Good snack?” He asks.
Phil nods and Amelia giggles. “We had some cereal,” she informs him.
Dan looks Phil dead in the eyes, giving him the most bland look he can muster. “Shocker,” he says, deadpan.
They maintain eye contact for just a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter. Amelia looks confused, but happy.
“You and your cereal-thiefing ways,” Dan mumbles, raising his arm and letting Amelia snuggle up to him. Phil looks down at the bed with a sheepish grin as he lays down. “Night, Mia. Love you.” Dan punctuates his words with a kiss to the top of her head.
“Night, daddy,” she mumbles, clearly already on the verge of sleep.
Phil blinks at him expectantly. Dan rolls his eyes. Phil pouts.
Leaning over Amelia carefully, Dan sloppily kisses Phil’s cheekbone. “I love you too, you absolute toddler,” he says, voice dripping with sarcasm.
Phil looks more than pleased when Dan pulls away. Dan watches as he snuggles down under the cover, tucking the blanket around their daughter carefully before closing his eyes. “Love you, Dan,” he mumbles when enough time has passed that Dan honestly thinks he may have already fallen asleep.
Dan blinks the moisture from his eyes. “Goodnight, bub,” he murmurs, the sound of Phil’s deep breaths already filling the silence.

Saturday is the same uneventful sort of day as it usually is in the Howell-Lester household, the day moving slow with everyone off school and work for the day. Dan is in the kitchen making an early lunch for everyone when Phil walks in, talking on his phone. Dan smiles at him, which Phil returns, a little less enthusiastically.
“Yes, I know, Mum,” he’s speaking into the phone. “I told you, Dan and I needed to think about it. We can’t just force them to go to your house for Christmas, can you imagine how awkward they’d feel?” Phil rolls his eyes as his mum speaks, probably chastising him for keeping her grandchildren away from her.
Dan can’t help but wince on Phil’s behalf. It’s strange enough suddenly being parental figures for three children, but add in the fabrication of their romantic relationship and, well, Phil’s family is feeling very left out of the loop, despite the fact that they’ve met the kids over FaceTime countless times. Dan knows the other man is holding onto what’s left of his sanity by a thread at this point, with all the pressure from his mum and the obvious obstacles that come with parenting. Dan definitely doesn’t envy his situation right now.
“Right. But there’s five of us now, mum.” Phil sends Dan a pleading look, and Dan can’t help but snicker. Phil rolls his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. He hardly ever gets cross with his mum, so Dan knows something else must be bothering him. “I’ll talk with Dan about it, okay? I can’t make any promises, though. I...” he looks over at Dan then, something conflicting flashing across his face. “I have to put the kids first now, mum. We’ll see how they feel about it, okay?”
Dan tears his gaze away, focusing back on the sandwiches he’s meant to be crafting. He listens as Phil says his goodbyes, quietly murmuring for Phil to tell Kath he loves and misses her on Dan’s behalf. Phil relays the message and hangs up. A long sigh escapes his mouth then, and Dan can’t help but glance over at him.
Phil looks exhausted. His eyes are tired and his shoulders are slouched in a way that Kathryn would be rather appalled by. Dan’s heart feels a stab of sympathy for him.
“Rough talk?” He murmurs, trying to be careful with his inflection. He doesn’t want Phil to think he actually knows what they were discussing, even though he does.
“Yeah,” Phil whispers after a while. “Mum wants us to come to hers for Christmas.” Dan nods, staying quiet as he clears up the mess he’d made of the counter. Phil sighs again. “I don’t know what to tell her.”
Dan waits to see if there’s more, and when it’s clear that there’s not, he turns to face him, leaning on the counter. “Well, do you want to?”
“Do I want to what?” Phil asks, bewildered.
“Go to your family’s house for Christmas,” Dan elaborates, keeping his tone neutral.
Phil looks surprised, like he hadn’t thought to actually consider it. “I... well, I don’t know. I hadn’t really thought about it. I mean, I’m hoping we still have the kids by then.”
Dan hates the stab of fear he feels at the implication that there might be an alternative to that, but he forces it down, smiling and stepping closer to wrap his arms around Phil’s waist in a hug. He thinks idly about how this is their first hug of the day. “I reckon we ought to at least consider it.”
“Hold on, wouldn’t your mum be upset if we went to mine instead of hers for Christmas?” Phil asks, almost sounding accusatory.
Dan snorts, pulling away. “Not likely. She’d want to see us, sure, but their big family Christmas dinner is always the Saturday after anyway.”
“Oh,” Phil says, somewhat surprised. “You’ve never told me about that,” he sounds offended.
“I guess it never crossed my mind?” Dan replies, a little puzzled as to why Phil seems to care. “Either way, my mum wouldn’t be fussed.”
Phil looks away as he considers it. Dan steps out of his personal space to give him room to think, moving around the kitchen and setting the table for lunch. Finally, Phil says, “I’ve never not been at my family’s house for Christmas Day.” He whispers it, like he’s ashamed.
Dan turns to glance at him, raising an eyebrow in surprise. “Yeah?” He says lightly, prompting him to elaborate if he wants.
“I don’t want to force the kids to go somewhere else if it’ll make them uncomfortable,” he continues quietly. “And I don’t want to not see my parents on Christmas, but…” He takes a breath, looking up at Dan with something vulnerable in his eyes. “I won’t leave you alone with the kids on Christmas.”
“Well...” Dan pauses to consider their options. “We could invite your family here, just for Christmas Day. Or we could speak to the kids and ask how they feel about Isle of Man for a holiday. You never know, Phil, they might actually want to go. They’ve met Kath enough through calls and all that, I really don’t think they would mind going.”
Phil nods slowly, his eyes becoming a little unfocused as he spaces out, deep in thought.
Before they can reach any sort of agreement, the twins come barreling into the kitchen, followed by their older brother, who looks vaguely apologetic. Whatever thoughtful silence that had existed in the kitchen before is completely gone when they enter.
“I tried to tell them not to run,” Levi says, shrugging.
At the same time, Amelia grabs the back of a chair, hopping up and down behind it as she asks, “What’s for lunch?”
Jaiden is the only quiet one, drifting to the balcony doors and gluing his face to the glass to watch for his pigeon friends.
Dan sighs, somewhere between content and exasperated. “We’re having sandwiches,” he tells Amelia. Smiling reassuringly at Levi, he says, “I think it’s a lost cause at this point, really.”
The teenager shrugs before going to sit at the table, glaring at his sister pointedly until she halts her jumping, looking sheepish as she slides into her chair. Dan smiles at this before looking over at Phil, who’s studying the table activity with a look of almost curiosity. Dropping a gentle hand to his arm, Dan waits for his gaze to refocus before speaking. “Love, could you get some drinks while I pass out food?”
Phil nods, offering a partial smile. “Sure.”
Dan waits until Phil’s turned to collect cups before he goes about setting out the plates for everyone, calling Jaiden to the table and promising they can feed the pigeons later.
After everyone has food and a drink, Dan allows himself to have a seat as well, making sure everyone has what they need before tucking into his lunch. The talk at the table varies from school, to video games, and to the excitement of being home alone the following Friday. Phil is much more present now, joking with the twins and listening carefully when Levi speaks. Dan’s so full of such a sense of normalcy that the thought of the true nature of the situation very nearly drifts away entirely.
Eventually everyone is finished eating and Levi offers to help clear everything up after the twins run to play in their room. Dan sees this as a perfect opportunity to ask him about how he’s feeling about his current living situation, and a shared glance with Phil says they’re on the same page. “Sure, bud,” Dan agrees easily. “Why don’t you help Phil clear the table while I put the rest of this stuff away.”
Levi nods, clearing plates away quietly. Phil glances over at Dan rather pointedly and Dan nods. Phil clears his throat, a little bit awkwardly, before speaking. “Levi,” he begins, his tone soft. The teen’s gaze snaps up almost immediately, a deer-in-the-headlights look on his face until something on Phil’s makes him relax slightly. “We were wondering how you’re feeling about living here so far.”
Levi looks vaguely uncomfortable, but shrugs. “Alright, I guess.” He pauses. Then, suspiciously, “Why?”
Dan shrugs from where he’s stood putting the sandwich stuff away. “We just want to make sure we’re doing what we can to make you comfortable here.”
“So, if there’s anything you need or want that we don’t know about, you can tell us and we can work on getting it for you,” Phil explains, giving Levi a bright smile.
Levi seems to consider this. He still looks vaguely suspicious. “Oh... okay. Well, nothing comes to mind.” He clears his throat awkwardly.
“And that’s fine! Just, you know, if you think of anything. You can tell us.” Phil says, giving Dan a soft glance.
Dan nods at him in agreement before turning to smile at Levi. “Yeah. You can always talk to us about anything.”
Levi glances between them, his gaze somewhat confused. “Right... okay.”
Feeling a little awkward at how poorly that seemed to go, Dan clears his throat. “I know it’s awkward for you,” he says quietly, trying not to make Levi feel even worse by having this conversation with Phil there. Levi gives him a wary look. “But we want you to feel at home here, if it’s possible.”
There’s a silence, and Dan turns to tidy the pantry up a little, allowing Levi the space to think or leave if he’s feeling uncomfortable. After a few moments, he sighs. “I... I appreciate that, really,” he says slowly. “But, like... you don’t have to try so hard.”
Dan glances over at him sharply in surprise, his gaze flicking over to find that shock mirrored in Phil’s. “Oh. Okay,” is all Dan’s mouth can come up with.
Levi shrugs awkwardly. “Just... it’s awkward enough, yeah? Like suddenly you two have a teenager to look after, and I mean, I’m glad you let me be with my brother and sister, but you can worry about them, not me.”
It takes a long moment for Dan to process this, and when he does he feels his eyes burn. “Levi...” he starts, his voice pained.
Before Dan can even begin to explain how wrong it is for Levi to think they shouldn’t care about him, Phil speaks. “Levi, no. We’re not- we care about all of you. We didn’t just let you in like some stray off the street, okay? We wanted you here, from the moment we realized that the twins had a brother they’d been separated from.”
Levi looks surprised, as if they hadn’t already tried to relay this information to him before. “I-“
Phil interrupts him, holding a hand up to pause his words. “As awkward as you think this is for us, it’s not. We consider the three of you a part of our family, okay? Not just the twins. You’re just as much our child as they are, and you will be until your case manager decides otherwise. And we want to do things for you, just like we do the twins, if you’ll let us.”
Levi looks actually, properly stunned. He blinks rapidly, his gaze flicking between the two of them before finally dropping to the floor. “Okay.”
Phil’s shoulders seem to relax at that. “Good. Now, go get your things ready so Dan can drive you to your group session.”
Without another word, Levi leaves the room, although he does give Dan a bewildered look as he leaves. Dan shrugs at him, unsure how to explain Phil’s sudden outburst of emotional connection.
Left alone with him, Dan looks over to find Phil leaning back against the counter, rubbing the palms of his hands against his eyes and taking shuddering breaths. Without even thinking, Dan moves over to him, tugging his hands away and sweeping gentle fingers over the tears pouring from Phil’s eyes. “Shh,” Dan whispers when Phil lets out something like a sob. “You’re alright, baby. I’m so proud of you. That- that was such a lovely thing to tell him.”
“I love them so much, Dan,” Phil cries, dropping his head to Dan’s shoulder suddenly. Dan stares at the side of his head in shock. Phil obviously cared for them, but he’d never gotten this openly emotional about his affection for the children before. Seeing it was making Dan sniffle a little as well.
“I know, Phil. I know.” Dan brings one hand up to stroke the back of Phil’s head while the other caresses down his spine.
“I can’t believe Levi thinks he’s- he’s- like, a charity case or something! He’s our son!” Phil’s nearly sobbing now, and Dan tightens his grip.
“Shh. Quiet now, love. Shh, I know,” Dan murmurs soft words as Phil manages to work it out. He was a little out of depth here, as Phil was normally the more rational, less tearful one between the two of them. Apparently today was the exception, however. “You’ll cry yourself into a migraine if you aren’t careful, baby.”
Phil sniffles a few more times after that, finally getting a grip on his emotions. Dan waits for him to pull away first, and when he doesn’t, Dan begins to pepper kisses to his cheek and temple and ear. “Sorry,” Phil whispers.
Dan presses a soft kiss to his earlobe. “Nothing to be sorry for. Everyone cries.”
It’s quiet for a bit, but eventually Phil tilts his head, catching Dan mid-smooch. Dan flushes at their close proximity, but before he can pull away or apologize, Phil tilts forward just enough to peck Dan’s lips with his own. It’s hardly a kiss, more just a brush, but Phil looks completely unapologetic when he pulls away.
“Thank you,” he mumbles, hugging Dan tightly.
Dan’s not sure what he’s thanking him for, so he stays silent. They’re interrupted by the sound of footsteps, and Dan steps carefully out of Phil’s grip. Phil clutches his shirt anyway, and Dan can’t help but smile at that. “Ready to go?” He asks Levi, who’s hovering by the door looking awkward.
“Yeah,” he replies. He looks down, scuffing his shoe against the tile. “Phil?”
Phil looks surprised when he glances over at him. “Yeah?” He says, his voice a little scratchy from crying.
Levi seems to consider his words carefully before replying. “Er- thank you. For what you said earlier.”
“Of course,” Phil says immediately.
The teen nods, not lifting his gaze. Evidently that’s all that he’s got to say.
Dan tilts his head to look at Phil, who looks back at him with a surprised, but proud face. Dan doesn’t even think about holding back, dropping a soft kiss to Phil’s mouth like it’s nothing. Like it doesn’t send his blood racing and his heart stuttering. Like he does it every day.
Phil looks... well, happy. Dan shocks himself with the thought, but his mind only supplies that description of the look on his face when Dan pulls away from the brief kiss. “Drive safe, okay?”
“I will,” Dan nods. He pushes Phil’s quiff up from where it’s drooping. “Need anything while I’m out?”
“Snacks?” Phil asks, his voice sweet.
Dan rolls his eyes. “You’re going to snack yourself into a sugar coma, bub,” he teases.
Phil grins, his tongue caught between his teeth. “And you’ll take care of me while I’m in a coma, right?”
Dan kisses his nose. “If I have to.”
They grin at each other, and somewhere, Dan feels some relief in his heart or mind or the void where his soul should be. It feels a little bit like a fading resolve, or some wall being chipped away at. He feels lighter than he has in weeks, standing in his kitchen banting affectionately with his best friend in the whole world
“Go, he’ll be late,” Phil prompts, pushing Dan away.
“Movie night when we get back?” Dan asks, moving to the door.
Phil smiles and nods excitedly. “And pizza.”
“Perfect. It’s a date.”
~~~
Several hours later, after an overwhelming amount of pizza and a passive watch of Disney’s Hercules, Dan and Phil see the kids off to bed, much to the chagrin of the twins, who for all their complaining, stumble down the stairs like little drunks. Dan teases them for it, and Amelia, predictably, teases him right back, reminding him of the time he tripped down the stairs, stone-cold sober. Much giggling on the twin’s behalf later, after Dan has tried, and failed, to defend himself, the kids finally say their goodnights and head to their bedrooms.
“I’m so tired,” Dan moans the minute he steps into their room. He flops down onto their bed, star-fishing out in that way Phil does that usually annoys him so much.
“Sucks, bub,” Phil chuckles. “Gonna take your jeans off?” He asks, rummaging through their dresser.
Dan considers it. He really is very tired. “Is there some way I could perhaps convince you to do it for me?” He asks sweetly, fluttering his eyelashes up at Phil when the older man glances at him. He’s mostly kidding.
Phil’s eyes roll up to the ceiling at this, but sighs as he walks over and deposits his pajamas onto the side of the bed not currently occupied by Dan’s noodle limbs. “Undo ‘em for me,” he instructs, bringing his hands down to tug Dan’s socks off for him.
Dan hadn’t expected this. Honestly, he’s not sure he would’ve done it for Phil, really for no reason other than how it would feel to undress his best friend. Especially now that he knows there’s some very not-platonic feelings floating around his heart. Just that conscious thought, accepting those feelings he has for Phil, sends Dan’s blood rushing to his head, making him dizzy.
“Dan?” Phil calls quietly, patting Dan’s thigh to get his attention. “Do you actually want me to?”
“I... I’ll do it. I was just kidding, really,” Dan stutters out. He clears his throat. “Thanks, though. You’re a good friend.” He’s glad he’s still laying on his stomach, so he doesn’t have to meet Phil’s eyes as he says it.
There’s the feeling of hands running over his calves, gently massaging, and Dan sighs. “Of course, bub,” Phil quietly murmurs. “I’m gonna go take a shower, okay?”
“Yeah,” Dan agrees passively.
Phil squeezes his leg. Dan listens to his footsteps, allowing his eyes to flutter shut as the bathroom door clicks shut.
He doesn’t mean to fall asleep, but when he drifts back into the present world, it’s to the feeling of something tugging underneath him. “Mph?” He huffs a confused sound.
“Shh,” Phil whispers softly. “It’s just me, Dan. I’m trying to cover you up, scoot over a bit.”
After blinking the sleep out of his eyes a bit, Dan realizes that he’s still laid on the bed, wearing the same clothes he laid down in. Phil’s stood next to him, working on tugging the blanket out from under him so he can cover him up. “My jeans,” Dan complains.
Phil nudges him to sit up. “Go take them off and brush your teeth. You’ll wake up in the middle of the night anyway if you don’t go to bed with a clean mouth, remember?”
Dan grumbles but does as he’s told, stumbling off the bed and into the bathroom, unbuttoning his jeans as he goes. After taking a wee and tugging the stupid jeans off his long legs, Dan brushes his teeth slowly, feeling groggy from his short nap.
“Don’t forget to take your meds, babe,” Phil says, poking his head into the bathroom and tapping the doorframe to get Dan’s attention.
Nodding, Dan waves him off. Phil leaves him to it, allowing Dan to finish his routine alone before going back to their bedroom to join him. Phil’s sat up at the headboard, his glasses sliding down his nose as he looks down at the worn pages of a book. Dan crawls into bed beside him, leaning his head on Phil’s shoulder. Wordlessly, Phil tilts his head and kisses Dan’s forehead. Dan is so, so warm.
“What are we reading tonight?” Dan asks softly, too lazy and tired to actually read the page.
“Ready Player One,” Phil replies, turning the page. “Want me to read to you?”
Dan snuggles against his side shamelessly, wrapping his arm around Phil’s stomach. “Yeah.”
Phil takes a moment to pull the covers up and over Dan, smoothing them over his leg and patting his knee before bringing his hands back to the book. Phil’s voice is low and soothing as he reads, and Dan is very nearly asleep when he hears a soft knock on the door. They both turn to face it in sync, and Dan has to bite back a giggle at the movement.
“Come in,” Phil calls, loud enough for whoever to hear, but quiet enough that it won’t wake anyone asleep.
The door swings open after a second to reveal Levi, who shifts awkwardly from foot to foot, avoiding their eyes, cradling his hand awkwardly.
“Hey, bub,” Dan says softly. “What do you need?”
Levi steps closer to the bed, holding his left hand up with a grimace. “I, uh... kinda cut myself. I didn’t know where the band-aids were,” he says, looking the epitome of awkward and uncomfortable.
Dan immediately climbs off the bed and heads into the bathroom, gesturing for Levi to follow. “I’ll give you some to put in the other bathroom, I thought we had some but Phil’s the actual clumsiest person alive so sometimes we run out,” Dan explains with a smile. Levi offers a quiet laugh, hovering in the door.
“I am not!” Phil protests from the bedroom.
Dan rolls his eyes, but mouths, “he is,” causing Levi to laugh for real. Dan grins, gesturing to Levi’s hand. “Want me to look at it?” He offers gently.
Levi shakes his head. “It’s barely a scratch, honestly. I don’t even know why it’s bleeding, it doesn’t hurt.”
Dan sends him a suspicious look as he rummages through the cabinet. “What happened, anyway?”
“I was working on that art project I told you about,” Levi replies. “The paper mache thing? I was cutting the paper and the scissors just slipped.”
“Hm,” Dan hums neutrally. “Be more careful, alright? You might need your hand later in life,” he jokes.
Levi rolls his eyes but nods. “I will. It’s really just a scratch, though, honest.”
“I’m sure,” Dan agrees. “But make sure to wash it out and put some antibacterial gel on it, okay?”
Looking on the verge of another eye roll, Levi manages a more impatient nod, holding his hand out for the bandaids. “Got it,” he concedes.
Dan supplies him with a bandaid for now and several extras, making a mental note to buy a new box the next time he’s out. He follows Levi out, going to climb back in bed as Levi shuffles to the door.
“Levi?” Phil calls gently.
The teen turns around, raising his eyebrows. “Hm?”
“Everything at school going alright?” Phil asks. “I feel like we never get a proper chance to ask you about it with the twins always around.” He smiles as he says it, softening the almost accusation in his words.
Levi shrugs. “It’s alright. It’s school,” he says, his voice betraying nothing.
“Yeah,” Phil agrees with a twitch of his lips. “I get what you mean. But so far, it’s okay? The teachers aren’t too bad and the kids are alright?”
“Yeah, they’re fine,” Levi says. He gestures at Dan vaguely. “I think he gave me all the easy teachers because they’ve all been pretty nice.”
Dan is about to protest but Phil sends him this lovely smile and Dan shuts up immediately. “Good, good,” Phil says. “I guess we’ll let you get to bed, then.”
Levi nods, waving at them a little awkwardly. “Alright. Night, guys.”
“Goodnight, Levi,” Dan calls after him as he walks out the door. He waits a beat to make sure Levi is well down the hall before turning to look at Phil. “You really are a good dad,” he says, almost conversationally.
Phil smiles at him fondly. “I should be. I’ve been practically raising you for the past ten years.” His tone is joking but it still embarrasses Dan, just a little, to be reminded of their slight age difference.
Dan can feel the wicked grin making its way onto his face. He can’t control himself, obviously, with the joke presented so perfectly. He leans in, resting his chin on Phil’s shoulder and pressing a feather-light kiss to Phil’s ear before whispering in his most sultry voice, “Daddy.”
“Ew!” Phil splutters, immediately shoving Dan away. He looks absolutely mortified when he’s put some space between them. “Never say that again, Dan,” he warns, sounding very, very serious, and very, very disturbed.
Dan erupts into a fit of laughter at Phil’s reaction, swiping tears of mirth out of his eyes. “Oh my god. You’re too easy! And the look on your face,” Dan sighs, catching his breath. He snuggles back against Phil with an innocent smile that Phil returns with a glare. “I promise I won’t say it again. I just had to, honestly.”
“You really... didn’t,” Phil argues, flicking his gaze up so he doesn’t have to meet Dan’s eyes.
Pressing his lips to Phil’s cheek is Dan’s apology, which Phil seems to accept if his sigh and the way he wraps an arm around Dan is any indication. “That really wasn’t funny,” he mumbles, collecting his book back on his lap and flipping it open again.
“Sure it was,” Dan replies easily, watching with a cringe as Phil returns to his dog-eared page. “It was funny to me.”
Phil knocks his head against Dan’s gently as reprimand. “You’re doing an awful lot of chatting for someone who was nearly asleep only half an hour ago, bub.”
Dan smiles against his shirt. “Alright, alright. I’ll be quiet.” Phil huffs like he doesn’t believe it but clears his throat to start reading. Before he can, Dan interrupts him. “Can you start at the beginning? It’s been a while since I’ve read this and I don’t remember who half these people are.”
There’s a groan, and Dan can’t help but bite back a laugh. “No, I’m not starting at the beginning, you horrible boy. This is supposed to be my quiet reading time.”
“Sorry,” Dan lies. “But you offered to read to me, so...”
“I’ll start at the beginning of this chapter. And if you get confused I’ll explain what’s happening. But otherwise shut your mouth and go to sleep, yeah?” Despite the irritation he’s obviously feeling at Dan pestering him, Phil’s words are still incredibly fond and bear no actual unkindness.
“M‘kay,” Dan agrees. “You may proceed.”
There’s a pause as if Phil’s waiting to be interrupted, but when he isn’t, he jumps right into the story, reading it at just the right volume for Dan to listen passively, his eyelids getting heavier and heavier with every paragraph. Eventually he nods off on Phil’s shoulder, but in their position his head lulls to the side and the movement jolts him awake again.
“You okay?” Phil whispers.
“Mm. Mhm. Sleepy,” Dan mumbles back.
Phil turns down the corner of his page, making Dan cringe, before placing the book onto his bedside table and turning off the lamp. He’s careful not to jostle Dan too much as he guides him into a proper sleeping position, tugging Dan’s pillow closer to his own and guiding his head to it. Dan allows his eyes to drift shut as Phil settles behind him, pulling the duvet up and over their shoulders.
“Warm enough?” Phil whispers against Dan’s hair.
“Mhm.” Dan reaches back until he finds Phil’s hand, pulling his arm to wrap around his waist. He feels a kiss against his neck and smiles. “Goodnight,” he murmurs.
Phil hums a response into the lack of space between them, but Dan’s already drifting back off to sleep.
Whiskey In A Teacup/1
Tumblr media
When Santi first got out of the military, he hadn’t known what to think of his options. There was always the option of giving up and going back in. The option to join a shadowy private military company. Go into private security. Go on the recruiting circuit. Maybe even become a cop. But none of them seemed like the best path. They all seemed like giving up. He had been trained by his country to be an elite, lethal machine. Being anything but the best felt like a cop out. So when an old friend of his reached out with an offer from the Secret Service, he accepted it on the spot.
----
The election had recently ended with a brand new administration being ushered into the White House. Pope thought he looked cookie cutter. Like he was aging perfectly, his wife wasn’t aging at all and his family had all done Cotillion. He was in an empty conference room flipping through the personnel files that had been left for him before he waited for his friend to pick him up for whatever orientation he had to go through.
“Santi! Glad you were able to make it in.” He stood and shook his friend’s hand, happy to have someone to talk to.
“Yeah and was cleared to read the briefing materials,” he answered as he dropped the folder back down onto the table.
“Good. So the basics are out of the way. Now, I vouched for you hard with leadership and they want you on the detail. Close circle, last line of defense type of shit.
“Perfect. Exactly the stakes you know I’m cut out for.”
“I know that. But the future First Lady doesn’t.” Santi furrowed his brow.
“Why does that matter?” His friend cleared his throat.
“She has requested she look every agent in the inner circle in the eye before they are officially assigned. Protective wife and mama bear.”
“You’re not saying the debutante daughters are included in my assignment are you?” Santiago hoped he wasn’t. They looked like stuck up brats and he would rather join Will on the speech circuit than put up with attitudes like that.
“I’m saying the other agents have been tripping over themselves to try and get conversations with the older one.” His friend pointed at her picture on the table.
“That’s disgusting,” Pope whined. “How do I get her approval? I got to wait a week for an appointment?”
“Her and the daughters are at a photoshoot right now for the cover of Vogue. Said she would talk to you there.”
“Great.” It would be one of his more unconventional interviews but Santi was eager. Chomping at the bit to get back in the game. Feel useful again. Devote his life to something other than thinking about the past.
----
The people allowed on the set were few. His friend introduced him to a few other agents and pointed to where the incoming First Lady was smiling for the camera.
“Let’s find somewhere we can wait for her to be done.” Santi kept his head down, smiling politely and shaking hands where appropriate, as they made their way towards the rooms in the back of the studio. There were two agents standing outside a door, nodding once as they let Santi and his friend into the room.
“Marnie, can you help me zip?” The female voice was coming from behind the dressing screen in the corner. Both men looked at each other, not sure what the appropriate thing to say was.
“Sorry, ma’am, we can go-”
“No that’s fine. I think I can do it myself.” Pope stayed silent as the woman, he thinks it was Penelope, stepped out in a beautiful blush pink dress that hugged her like it was made for her. He hates that his mouth ran dry and his tongue felt thick. But he pushed it aside as quickly as it came. “You’re new. And not in a suit. A friend of yours, Sam?”
“Yes ma’am. This is Santiago Garcia. Old Army buddy. He is here for a job interview.”
“A pleasure to meet you ma’am.” Santiago extended his hand and Penelope shook it even though her eyes were rolling.
“So stupid she makes all of you talk to her first. But I guess that’s why I am not in charge,” Penelope shrugged. “I’m sure it will go well and I’ll see you around, Santiago.”
“Santi,” he blurted out before he could stop himself. “Just...Santi.”
“Santi,” she whispered like she was just testing it out. “The pleasure was all mine.” She smiled as she spun, the skirt flying around her like a Disney movie, and then she was out the door and gone.
“Isn’t she something?” Sam mused as he still stared at the door she had just disappeared through.
“Beautiful. And probably a troublemaker,” Pope replied.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” his friend teased with a slap on his back. The sad thing was, he thinks he did.
----
Penelope hated that no such privacy existed in her life anymore. It hadn’t for awhile but it had only gotten worse in the past month since her father won the election. Even now, lying in bed flipping through fashion magazines, there were people bustling in and out to pack her stuff for the move. People asking which fabric and color she thought looked best for her inauguration dress. If she liked this or that singer for the National Anthem and if she thought her peers would find this or that choice relatable. She answered with a smile and took it all in stride but couldn’t wait to shut the door and go to bed. But even there she dreamt of flags and men in suits and waving until her arm felt like it was going to fall off. There was no such thing as privacy and there was no such thing as peace. Penelope felt she was no longer her own person but everyone’s. They told her that’s what being in the first family meant. But she didn’t like it and she didn’t want it.
“Ma’am?” It sounded like her new assistant on the other side of the door.
“Yes?” Penny had just started winding down for the night. Her face was soft from copious amounts of moisturizer. Her hair was fluffy after she took her time drying it. Her silk nightgown was kissing her legs with every step. She was tired. She wanted to curl up in a ball under a pile of blankets and dream of simpler times.
“Your new agent is here. I just wanted to introduce you before he started his first shift.” Penelope sighed and moved back towards her closet to find a knit robe that would help protect at least some of her humility.
“You can come in.” She recognized him instantly as the handsome man from the Vogue set. He looked even better now. Well groomed and in a suit that must have been tailored by an old school professional.
“Ma’am this is-”
“Santiago,” Penelope said before the introduction could be finished. “I’m glad to see the interview went well.”
“Thank you, ma’am.”
“We’re practically the same age. Any other title other than ma’am would work better.” He made her blush just by looking at her. It was tragic and sad. That she had to meet him like this. That he had to be someone that worked for her father. That he had to be stoic and professional all the time. That they hadn’t just met in a bar on a Saturday night or bumped into each other at a mutual friend’s backyard picnic.
“Of course. I’ll think on it and get back to you,” he offered with a smile.
“Agent Garcia is on interior duty tonight but I am sure you’ll get used to his presence quickly, ma’am.” She didn’t bother correcting her assistant. She didn’t care what she called her.
“I look forward to it.”
----
“Alright let’s go over Polar’s schedule for the day.” It had been a couple of days since Santi had started and so far he was enjoying it. His fellow agents were nice enough and had a similar sense of humor to him. Many of them had even served and it was nice to swap stories with people other than the men in his unit. He was posted close to the action and was never really bored. Penelope was his principle. Her safety was his only priority most days and he was by her side at morning show appearances, fancy dinners with campaign donors and visits to DC elementary schools. Things were moving faster and tighter the closer they got to the inauguration.
They hadn’t spoken much since his first night. Just nods and smiles as they made elusive eye contact throughout the day. She was beautiful. That was the simplest way for Santi to describe her. The most professional way. It was wrong but he wanted to know more about her. Learn what made her life. Made her cry. What she liked to eat and what she would order at McDonalds. Santi was someone full of life and warmth and love for those around him. Sometimes it was hard to be so cold. He hadn’t had to be so since he retired from the military. It was dredging up old feelings from the past. But he was more concerned how he felt more comfortable than he had before. How being alert and hearing radio static and a gun at his hip made him feel more at ease than the creature comforts of home ever could.
“We’ve got a pilates class, Skype call with a dress designer and then a private dinner.”
“Private dinner?” Santi hadn’t heard that on the schedule before and it made his ears perk up.
“She’s been seeing this guy-”
“Kind of a douche,” one of the other agents chimed in.
“-and it's very underwraps, very lowkey.”
“We normally draw straws or play rock, paper, scissors to see who has to take it.” Santi furrowed his brow as all the comments flooded his system.
“What’s so awful about a dinner date?” he asked, almost afraid of the answer.
“It’s the company she keeps,” one chimed in.
“He’s dull and chews weird.”
“Hurts to listen to and hurts to watch.” They all groaned in unison.
“I’ll take it then. The watching and listening part.” He was a low man on the totem pole anyways but he was also curious. He wanted to see this train wreck with his own two eyes. He took the file when it was offered, leaving the room when they were dismissed.
“Curiosity killed the cat, you know,” Sam muttered as he fell into step next to him.
“I know. This will satiate me,” Santi replied.
----
He stood dutifully by the car, waiting to open the door for Penelope whenever she was ready to go. The twisted part of him was excited to see how this night played out. Maybe it would at least be worth the good story. How the beautiful first daughter dated a slob and he was paid to be a third wheel.
“Santiago? I didn’t expect to see you here tonight.” Her fingers tightened around her clutch as she squared her shoulders to face him.
“Yes…” he froze when he remembered he had agreed to not refer to her as ma’am.
“Still thinking of something else to call me?” she asked with a smirk. Penelope didn’t wait for him to respond and instead slipped under his arm and into the backseat of her car.
The drive was dead silent. Santi felt awkward but knew this was a part of the job he would have to get used to. She wasn’t his friend. Wasn’t a girl he had picked up at a bar. She was his top priority in the least romantic way possible. He would take a bullet for her. When they arrived at the restaurant he moved swiftly to open her door and escort her into the dining room. They moved towards the back where a man was sitting alone. He looked like a college lacrosse player to Santi. In the most stereotypical of ways. His hands itched to pull Penelope’s seat out for her when her date didn’t, his eyes going to the menu instead of complementing the black dress she was wearing. Maybe he had been wrong. Maybe this was going to be torture.
Unspoken (Tommy Lee x Reader)
Summary: The conversation you had most dreaded had finally arrived, and the outcome was going to be ugly, at the very least.
Wordcount: 2.6k
Warnings: angst, cursing, mentions of violence, literally the SMALLEST mentions of sex, fluffy ending.
A/N: Nothing really. Just don’t judge too hard, I’m new, and English isn’t my first language. Enjoy :)
REQUESTS ARE OPEN!!!
The vase flew across the room as flowers and water were scattered all over the floor. It hit the wall right next to Tommy’s head. Shit, that was close.
- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?
- IT MEANS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID, YOU FUCKING HYSTERICAL BITCH- Tommy yelled, with his eyes wide open and his index finger pointing at you - AND STOP THROWING THINGS AT ME.
- I WOULD IF YOU WEREN’T BEHAVING LIKE AN ABSOLUTE DOUCHEBAG - you said as you grabbed a book and threw it in his direction. This time, it hit him on the stomach.Tommy caught the book right before it fell and walked towards you in two impressively long steps, only to grab your wrists before you had the time to throw him the ashtray you were already holding.
- YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO CALM THE FUCK DOWN Y/N.
- ARE YOU REALLY TELLING ME TO CALM DOWN?? - you argued, unsuccessfully trying to escape from his grip -  REALLY??? AFTER WHAT HAPPENED IN YOUR HOUSE???
- IT’S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL!!!
- BUT IT IS!!! YOUR PARENTS LITERALLY SPENT HALF AN HOUR SHOWING ME PICTURES OF YOUR EX THAT THEY, FOR SOME REASON, KEEP IN AN ALBUM, REMINDING ME HOW BEAUTIFUL SHE WAS, HOW HAPPY YOU TWO WERE TOGETHER AND HOW MUCH THEY GOT ALONG WITH HER.
- OH MY GOD, AGAIN? THAT HAPPENED A MILLION YEARS AGO. IT’S FORGOTTEN. I AM WITH YOU NOW, I LOVE YOU. SARAH IS OVER, YOU KNOW IT.
- YEAH I SURE AS HELL DO - you yelled back, filled with rage and built-up anger. Your hands were finally free, so you were gesticulating a lot while you spoke - BUT APPARENTLY YOUR MOTHER DOESN’T. SHE FUCKING HATES ME! SHE ALWAYS DID! SHE ONLY SEES ME AS “THE OTHER ONE”, “THE ONE HE’LL EVENTUALLY GET TIRED OF”, “THE WHORE”, “THE GRRRROUPIE” WITH A LOT OF R’S - you said, mimicking her accent - WHEN THAT IS NOT EVEN TRUE. AND WHAT DO I HAVE TO COPE WITH WHEN I GET HOME FROM AN EVENING WITH PEOPLE THAT DESPISE ME SO BAD? EXACTLY! A BOYFRIEND WHO PROJECTS ALL HIS ISSUES ON ME AND COMPARES THIS CRAP WITH THE FACT THAT MY OWN MOTHER ONCE SAID “Oh, you have tattoos” THE DAY SHE MET HIM.
- OH NO NO NO NO - Tommy interrupted - DON’T YOU DARE WALK THAT PATH. IT’S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, YOUR MOTHER IS DISGUSTED BY ME, I CAN SEE IT, HER EYES GIVE IT AWAY. SHE HATES ME BECAUSE I’M THE DRUMMER IN A METAL BAND AND SHE CAN’T STAND THE FACT THAT HER PERFECT LITTLE DAUGHTER IS DATING A DUDE WHO WEARS MAKEUP AND LEATHER PANTS.
- WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU EVEN SAYING?? TOMMY. I. AM. A. SINGER. - You paused deliberately between each word. This was ridiculous - HOW THE HELL WAS SHE GOING TO HATE YOU FOR BEING A ROCKSTAR WHEN HER OWN DAUGHTER IS ONE? THAT DOESN’T ADD UP, DUMBASS.
- YEAH, WHATEVER YOU SAY. AT LEAST MY MOTHER IS FUCKING CONSEQUENT WITH WHAT SHE BELIEVES, UNLIKE SOME OTHER HYPOCRITES.
- SEE?? YOU JUST GOT ALL WORKED UP OUT OF NOWHERE JUST BECAUSE I TOLD YOU SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T WANT TO HEAR. YOU ARE SUCH A SPOILED LITTLE BRAT. AND DIDN’T YOU LOVE TO BRAG ABOUT YOUR PERFECT PARENTS AND YOUR PERFECT FAMILY? WELL, THE FACT THAT YOU ARE AN EGOTISTICAL CHILD WITH ANGER ISSUES IS ENTIRELY ON YOUR MOTHER, AND IF I WERE HER, I WOULDN’T EXACTLY BE PROUD OF MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A PARENT.
Shit.
Shit, shit, shit.
You had overstepped. The blatant contrast between a long while of yelling and the absolute silence that now reigned in the living room told you so. And the worst of all was that you had done it consciously.You knew how much Tommy loved his mum and how sacred their bond was to him. For this reason, you were conscious about the fact that particularly this conversation topic was some tricky business, but you couldn’t contain it anymore.
You had sensed in what ways Vassiliki was a loving mother, a caring wife and a good person in general terms. Only you didn’t feel like she acted that way towards you. From the very first time you had met her, you had been able to feel the looks of disdain she often gave you, or the slight but still noticeable shifts in her voice tone when she talked to you. You just didn’t know why. At the beginning you told yourself it was all a product of your imagination, you had been nervous for weeks before meeting Tommy’s parents, so your suggested mind could be playing tricks on you. But within time, you thought maybe it wasn’t exactly like that.
You had been avoiding to tell your boyfriend because you didn’t think it was a major drawback, and you knew how much he adored her. You didn’t want to take the role of the abducting girlfriend who sets her partner against everything and everyone important in his life, so you would just put up with the animosity until it faded away, because it eventually would, right?
That night hadn’t been particularly rough, not rougher than the others in any case, but it was the last straw. After the shitshow that was your family dinner, the ride home was rather silent. Tommy could sense something was wrong. I mean, he was oblivious, but he wasn’t dumb, so once you two got home he asked you why the attitude. After such a long night, the last thing you wanted was to fight with your boyfriend. All you needed was for him to take you upstairs, fuck you senseless and cuddle you until the planet fell from its axis. And although your head was filled with red lights and voices screaming that answering his questions would start a war, Tommy really knew how to push your buttons so, long story short, vases started flying.
And now there you were, standing in front of the love of your life, staring at him and about to deal with the consequences you yourself provoked when you couldn’t bite your tongue hard enough.Tommy was looking at you with widened eyes, a subtle frown and massive amounts of disappointment in his expression. He seemed half surprised, because he would have never expected you to say something like that, half hurt, for obvious reasons. You felt your heart shrinking a little bit just with the look on his face. You had fucked up good and proper.
- Tommy, I’m so so…
But he didn’t give you the time to finish your sentence. He swung the door open and shut it close behind him, living you with a feeling of guilt, the urge to chase after him and the certainty that doing so would be a worse solution than your accusation had been a problem. In the air, the noise of his departure and a million words unspoken.
_____________________
How could she say that? I’m serious, how could she? What kind of abrasive bile must have she had inside of her to be able to say that without even flinching. I was livid.
I am not the biggest fan of leaving problems unsolved and arguments unfinished. Issues need to be addressed and things need to be talked through. Communication is necessary, especially in a romantic relationship, because it means that you trust your partner, and that is the key to it all. It has to be. And boy I fucking know it, my life had taught me the hard way: silence equals death.
Still, even with that mantra smashing my brain like a hammer, I left my girlfriend stranded in our own house in the middle of an argument; in the middle of her sentence. But I had to. I didn’t know what else to do. In fact, I didn’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t left the way I did. I didn’t want to think about it.
I had been driving for almost two hours. My first reflect the moment I stepped out of the house was to get in my car, and since i couldn’t decide where to go in the middle of the mental storm, I would do it along the way. But I hadn’t decided anything, I just drove. Driving always made me feel relaxed; concentrating on all of the small tasks I had to synchronize helped me focus on something other than my thoughts, it gave me perspective, and that was exactly what I needed in that moment.
In fact, now that I saw it coldly, what hurted me the most wasn’t her attack. I mean, come on, we all throw low blows in the heat of an argument once in a while. Or more often than that. I have. I can understand it. But no, what worried me was how come she hadn’t told me before.
For the way she was ranting at home all those things about my mum, it didn’t seem like the problem had only existed since that very night. No, that much anger and rampage had to be coming from a long time ago. But how much? How much time had she been feeling like that, suffering in silence? Dude, I love my mother, but I better than anyone know that sometimes she can be really petty, I inherited that wonderful trait from her. So why didn’t Y/N tell me? Doesn’t she trust me enough? What did she expect me to answer, that made her scared enough to chose to bear with that pain alone? What did I do? What didn’t I do?
Shit, my head was going to explode. I was definitely going to have to face the issue at some point, and I was running out of gas, so I had two options: heading to the nearest gas station and keep wandering around, or going back home. As much as we had a huge fight, I didn’t really feel like ending up in the middle of nowhere, forced to sleep in the car, so it was going to have to be option two. Besides, I was now cold-headed enough to talk things like the adult I sometimes wish I wasn’t.
When I got home, I was received by a darkened room and a silent house. Y/N’s wallet and keys were on the table, so she mustn’t have left. Good. It was past 4 a.m, so she was probably already sleeping. Good. At least I didn’t have to confront her straight away. I turned around to close the main door, when I found a small light-yellow post-it sticked to it.
HELLO
It was Y/N’s handwriting.
In the dim light of the lamp from the hall I was able to see a few more papers sticked to the wall of the stairs in front of me. I reached for the first one and started reading the note on it.
I’M GLAD YOU CAME BACK (cause if you’re reading this it’s because you have), I HOPE YOUR TIME AWAY WAS PRODUCTIVE, OR, AT LEAST, ENJOYABLE.
Yeah, pretty much. All I did was consume the gas tank and get to zero useful conclusions, so I would say we can call that success. I went for the next post-it, climbing a few steps, since I assumed they were in order.
I DON’T KNOW IF YOU KNOW THIS, BUT I’M GONNA TELL YOU JUST IN CASE. I LOVE YOU MORE THAN I HAVE EVER LOVED ANYONE IN MY LIFE, TOMMY, SO MUCH IT PHYSICALLY HURTS.
Oh. Well, this wasn’t exactly new, but reading the verbalized, inked, tangible version of it was a whole different thing. Next note.
WHEN YOU LEFT, I THOUGHT THE WORST, I THOUGHT THAT WAS IT, I THOUGHT I HAD LOST YOU BECAUSE I AM A DUMB BITCH WHO CAN’T CONTROL HER MOUTH.
I knew we had something in common, Y/N, I always knew it.
BUT THEN I REALIZED THAT WHAT WAS ACTUALLY PUNCTURING MY SOUL WASN’T THE PERSPECTIVE OF LOSING YOU. IT WAS THE PERSPECTIVE OF HAVING HURT YOU. I SWEAR THAT LOOK ON YOUR FACE IS GOING TO BE TATTOOED INSIDE OF MY LIDS FOREVER.
Fuck.
YOU CAN’T BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND HOW SORRY I AM FOR WHAT I SAID, BUT SPECIALLY FOR HOW I SAID IT, EVEN LESS IF ALL THE EXPLANATION I GIVE YOU IS A FEW SHITTY POST-ITS ON THE WALL.
This was the last piece of paper on the wall, right at the top of the stairs, so it had been more difficult to read only with the weak light from the floor below. I put it in my right hand with the small stack of other notes I had collected, and turned left to go to our room. Sticked to the closed door, I found another post-it.
SINCE IT’S MORE THAN LIKELY THAT BY THE TIME YOU REACH THIS PIECE OF PAPER I AM SOUND ASLEEP (A HOE PLANS AHEAD), ALL I HAVE LEFT TO SAY IS THAT, IF YOU FEEL LIKE IT, YOU CAN WAKE ME UP SO WE PROPERLY FIX THIS. I LOVE YOU.
The first thing I saw when I entered the room was her, in her panties and one of my t-shirts she liked to wear when I was on tour. Instead of occupying her side of the bed, she was in the middle of it, curled up and with her hair sprawled all over her pillow. Her arm was slightly reaching my half of the bed, and her nose softly pressed against my own pillow, as if she wanted to hold on to my scent, to get closer to me, but as if she didn’t dare.
The sight was divine, she seemed so peacefully asleep, and after such a tough night, God forbid I interrupted that, whatever reason I might have for doing so. Communication could wait. I got into bed and cuddled up behind her back, as gently as I could, so that she didn’t wake up.
_____________________
A cold hand ran up my bare thigh and rested on my hip, as I felt a warm breath and a pair of lips grazing the back of my neck.It was him.Slowly, his presence and the memories from a few hours earlier started to drag me away from my sleep. Why was he here? What time was it? Shit, the post-its. Was he waking me up? Was this my cue? What should I say? With a sloppy movement I began to turn around to face him.
- Tommy… - my voice was hoarse because of the crying and the sleeping.
- Shhh - he instantly interrupted me with a soft voice, as his arm moved from my hip to my waist and pulled me closer to his chest - it’s okay.
- But…
- I know, I know - he whispered as he peppered soft kisses on the bare skin of my shoulder, exposed by his t-shirt; on the back of my neck and also in my head, sniffing the scent that my hair radiated - sleep now, babe. You can tell me tomorrow, but now sleep. It’s okay, I love you…
His soothing words managed to kill the clouds of confusion that surrounded me in that moment. In my state of semi-wakefulness I wasn’t particularly aware of or integrated with reality, but something in his voice was so deeply calming that I couldn’t help but feel every little thing had somehow fallen into place. So there I was, with his arms around me, his lips against me, inescapably sleepy and undeniably in love.
her fight song
This was not a requested but I just wanted to write about Ben. This is AU because Ben Hargreeves is well and alive and he deserves better. Hope you enjoy this, btw!
p/s: catcalling is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful! please stop normalizing this ugly behaviour. thank you!
also another p/s: thank you for the 500 followers! you’re too nice, thank you for supporting! and yes, requests are open and i normally post once a day, occasionally twice.
Tumblr media
You look over to the man sitting across you and a smile appears on your face as you continue to watch him devour his favourite, waffles and blueberries. You cannot help the giggle that escape your mouth when Ben accidentally drops his blueberries before the fork actually reaches his mouth and he glances at you, quirking one of his eyebrows.
“What’s so funny?” Ben pouts as he picks up the blueberries that he dropped, and you giggle again. Ben’s cheeks flush slightly but he lifts his fork up towards you. You lean over to eat the blueberries, nodding your head at the very familiar taste. “Thanks for accompanying me here today, babe.”
You shake your head, swallowing the blueberries. “The least I can do after that.” You point to his busted lip, a frown appearing on your face when you recall the incident that happened the night before. The two of you had gone out on a date and had been walking from the movie theatre towards your apartment when some men had decided to do one of the most disgusting things on earth: cat-calling you and in his attempt to stand up for you, he had gotten punched on the face, busting his lips. “I love you, Ben, but I can handle myself.”
Ben sighs and reaches over to hold your hand. You intertwine your fingers with him and Ben gives you a small smile. “I know you can, Y/N, you are one of the strongest ladies I have ever met but I still want to be able to be there for you. What they were saying last night was just disgusting and downright despicable.” Ben grumbles, furrowing his eyebrows together. Honestly, there is nothing Ben would not do for you – even if he gets punched in the face because of his own actions.
You give him a small smile at his sweet words and lean over the table to press a light kiss on his lips. “Love you very much.” You pull back, only to see Ben smiling at you widely and you blush slightly at the amount of adoration and love you seen on his face. “Did your family say anything about your lip?”
Ben chuckles, nodding his head. “Klaus would not stop laughing at me but Allison sort of disapproved and agreed on how I handled the entire situation.” He had gotten an earful from Pogo though when he came back with the busted lips. Thankfully, Pogo only saw the busted lips and not the bruise on his rib. Pogo would probably have made Grace give him the once-over and deem him unfit to leave the house for a while.
“We should just walk away next time. I rather you not get hurt anymore; I don’t like seeing your handsome face all busted up like this.” You wink at him and Ben laughs, wincing slightly at the pain on his rib and he shakes his head. “Let’s go; I want to visit the bookstore before heading home.”
“Anything for you, babe.”
True to his words, the next few times you were catcalled, Ben merely glared at them, wrapping his arm around your waist tighter as he pulled you close, making sure that you are walking on the opposite sight from the men. It sickens him how women are often treated as objects but he did promise you that he would try to down his overprotectiveness and Ben doesn’t go back on any of his words.
That was until that one night.
Allison had come back to town to do some press tour for the new upcoming movie she is starring in and Ben and you had only just left the after-party. You are wearing one of the dresses that Ben absolutely adores on you because not only did it show off your figure, it also highlighted your beautiful eyes and truth be told, Ben has always have a weakness for your eyes. So, it wasn’t really a surprise when Ben stops you from walking just so he can give you a good kiss at the side of the road, ignoring the whistles and catcalls from other passers-by.
You pull back, breathing heavily as you stare at your boyfriend and Ben gives you a knee-wobbling smile as he pushes your hair away from your face. He leans in to give you one more kiss when someone slaps a hand on your ass, causing you to squeal in surprise, bumping in to Ben.
“Nice dress, babe – do you mind sharing?” The man guffaws as he stares at you lewdly. You immediately furrow your eyebrows, frowning at him and the man laughs once more, wetting his lips. “What a feisty one; are you just as feisty in bed?”
Ben’s trembling with anger and he clenches his fists, trying his hardest not to let his grip on his powers loose because that’s just going to be a pain in the ass and he isn’t looking forward to hearing any lectures from Pogo or Sir Reginald himself. “What did you just say?” He growls out in anger and the man laughs right in Ben’s face but before Ben could even lift his hand up, you had moved past him, surprising Ben and he stumbles backward and his jaw drops the moment your hand connects with the man’s nose so hard, Ben hears the crack. “Shit, Y/N!”
The man falls on the ground, groaning as blood spurts out of his nose and his words are mumbled as he shouts something at you incoherently. You are about to kick him again when Ben wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you to him and away from the fallen man.
“That was so amazing – where the hell did you learn how to punch like that, babe?” Ben asks incredulously, looking back at the man who is being helped by his buddies. Ben presses a hand on your back, making sure that the both of you are safe from the man. “Your hand alright?”
You nod your head, smiling at Ben who still looks like he is in awe over what you have just done. Normally, you wouldn’t resort to using violence but that man deserved it for slapping your ass like it was his property! You nod your head at his question, letting Ben take a look at your hand. He presses his lips gently on your knuckles, staring up at you. “Well, did I never tell you?”
Ben pulls back, shaking his head. “You’ve told me quite a lot of things and I would normally remember most of them but…” He trails off, racking his mind to see if you ever told him anything else that is important. He shakes his head once more. “No.”
Your mouth forms a small ‘o’ when you realize you hadn’t exactly told your boyfriend. You shrug your shoulders. “I am a 10thDan in Judo.” You tell him cheekily and Ben’s eyes widens. “That’s why I keep telling you that I can handle myself, babe.”
“Damn.” Ben chuckles amused by your revelation. He pulls you into his arms, hugging you very tightly, and you laugh into his chest as you wrap your own arms around his torso. “You’re amazing, Y/N.” He presses his lips on your temple and you grin at him.
“You’re amazing too, Ben.”
One Entirely Haphazard Arrangement (Tim Murphy x Reader) [Pt. 1]
A/N: Ok so this is longggg overdue and I apologize for taking so damn long to post this. I think I said I would write this in early July but I just got so caught up in the story and turned it into a whole three part fic...oh yeah, and I sort of moved to college so that took away some of my time 😂 but it’s finally here! I sort of struggled with this one because I haven’t creatively written anything in so long but it was really fun to write and I'm looking forward to writing more in the future! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this silly little friends-to-lovers Tim fic! Parts 2 and 3 will be up within the next few days. Again, sorry if this is trashhh
Words: Roughly 3.9k
Warnings: cursing, stress/anxious habits, cringeee writing?, I guess a Jersey Boys reference if for some reason you resent the jukebox musical or Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
Tumblr media
You have always had this infuriating habit of excessively scratching at the back of your hand like a cat attacking a toy laced with catnip whenever you become particularly anxious about the current state of your life.
And working at your newly appointed job as co-director of the art department at the museum has certainly proven to be more than stressful enough over these last eight months.
Whether it has you tumbling out of bed before the sun rises to make sure that that damned office projector is working in time for a 6 o’ clock meeting that your boss decided to throw together at the last minute or facing certain embarrassment upon being woken up by the night-watch guard because of a silly intention to stay after for only a few more minutes to finish editing one of your interns’ research reports, you had completely sacrificed any regard for your own basic health at this point for the sake of your job and its lingering promise of a future promotion.
A promotion that could potentially be awaiting you at the other end of your boss’ door in just under half an hour.
A promotion that could finally lead to the publication of the passion project that you’ve been steadily working on since your early college days.
A promotion that has you relying on old habits again as you scratch at the back of your hand under your cluttered office desk and stare down the hands of the clock on the wall across from you like your life depends on it.
Tick. Tick. Ticking away among the plethora of familiar noises that make up the busy atmosphere of your department. Drowning out the occasional flutter of footsteps stumbling down the hallway or the quiet laughs of your coworkers walking out of yet another dreadful planning session or even the absurdly shrill screeching sound that the copier down the hall likes to make every single time someone dares to use it.
Swiftly swallowing up all signs of life that surround you as your throat starts to feel like it’s closing in on itself and your breathing turns into something that more closely resembles gasping.
You’re just too good to be true...
Can’t take my eyes off of you...
And then so suddenly, a voice breaks through the numbness that has almost paralyzed you and reality starts to bleed back into place—a beacon of hope.
You’d be like heaven to touch...
I wanna hold you so much...
It takes a while for you to place the source of the voice as the all-to-familiar sound of your Jersey Boys ringtone blaring out from your phone across the room, but once you finally bring yourself back into a state of complete clarity, you rush out of your chair and stumble towards the singing object, desperate for a distraction.
Without bothering to glance at the name flashing across the screen, you answer the call and bring the phone up to your ear, eager to listen to whatever will take your mind off of that ticking clock.
“Hello?”
“Uh—Hey (Y/N), it’s Tim…”
A smile instantly rises across your face as you recognize the voice of your cute neighbor, Tim Murphy.
“Sorry if I’m interrupting something...I know how busy you’ve been with work lately”
“No—no, it’s fine...you’re fine,” You chime in awkwardly, attempting to reassure him as a familiar fuzzy feeling begins to spread across your entire body.
To say that you had practically fallen hopelessly in love with the paleontologist   ever since you accidentally attempted to break into his apartment at 3 a.m. in a half-asleep daze that led you to believe that you weren’t just one door off would be an understatement. That was an embarrassing introduction, to say the least.
“So...what’s up? Is everything alright?” You honestly hadn’t expected Tim to call you at this time of day...or really ever, seeing as how both of your work schedules are so chaotic that you only ever really interact with each other in the dead of the night, so this was a pleasant surprise.
“Yeah, yeah—everything’s great—It’s just...well, I don’t want to startle you or anything but when I got home from work, I found Stevie prancing around outside on my balcony again and—”
Your heart instantly drops into your stomach and you’re suddenly met with the urge to bang your head against a wall from the sudden embarrassment,
“Ah shit! I’m such a clumsy idiot! I probably left my bedroom window open again…”
“No, it’s okay! Don’t worry! Stuff like this happens to everyone. Stevie’s perfectly fine now! I actually just brought her inside my apartment. Poor thing was shivering so I gave her some food and that pretty much cheered her up instantly” Tim chuckles into the phone, causing your cheeks to flush a light shade of pink.
“Oh god, she’s gonna be so mad at me!” You groan as your head begins to feel like it’s spinning from all the guilt and nerves overwhelming you, “I’m so so sorry, Tim. Thanks for rescuing her from my clumsy antics”
“No need to apologize,” Tim laughs again, which doesn’t exactly help with your lightheadedness, “It’s the least I could do. I mean, especially after all those times you’ve looked after my house plants while I was away on a dig”
“You do have a point, Tim Murphy. What would you or your precious house plants ever do without me?” You tease lightly, attempting to calm your nerves, and pulling another angelic laugh from the other end of the phone.
“No, but in all seriousness,” You continue, “I’m going to make it up to you somehow...No ifs, ands, or buts, Murphy!
Tim groans playfully from the other end of the phone and you shake your head with a smirk before a sudden voice cuts through the uneasy silence of your office and the endearing moment abruptly ceases.
“Miss (L/N), Dr. Vaughn has requested that you head down to his office for that meeting now”
You let out another disgruntled sigh before nodding to the kind intern peeking his head through your office doorway,
“Ugh sorry to cut this short, Tim, but I have something kinda important to discuss with my boss right now and I really can’t afford to screw it up...” You trail off with a sigh, not wanting to end the call so soon.
“Oh...alright—yeah...that’s totally fine—I understand...” Tim rambles, sympathy laced within his voice,
“Good luck! I’m sure everything will go smoothly. I believe in you!”
You let out another nervous laugh, your cheeks now entirely red as you take in his words of encouragement, “Thanks for the kind words...and for taking care of Stevie! I’ll stop by to pick her up whenever I get out of this place”
You say your final goodbyes and end the call, shakily placing your phone back down onto your desk before finally making your way towards your boss’ office, scratching at the back of your hand again.
——————————————————————————————————
“I’m sorry...Are you serious?! This has to be some sort of sick joke…right?” You gawk at your boss, your body shaking in aggravation and utter disbelief.
However, he just simply smirks at you and shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly as his eyes switch between you and your...colleague.
“Dr. Vaughn, don’t you think you’re taking this a little too far?!” You groan in exasperation, shifting your eyes to take a look at your fellow co-director: the one coworker that just so happens to also be your ex.
Yes, your ex, Charles.
The one that abandoned you while you were away on a business trip, moving out of your shared apartment overnight all for his new blonde assistant...cliche and all.
The reason that you’ve worked so hard in this job for the past year of your life.
Not to win him back or follow through with some crude form of revenge—you weren’t at all that type of person.
But to gain back the sense of integrity that he had so swiftly stomped on and finally prove him wrong: to prove to yourself that you are, in fact, good enough.
“I don’t see anything inherently wrong with a little healthy competition, Miss (L/N)”
Your boss speaks up, calmly, the smirk across his face only widening as he looks up at you from his enormous office chair.
“I’m just not particularly fond of the idea that one of us ends up completely jobless by the end of this!”
“Oh please, (Y/N), calm down”
Charles finally speaks up from beside you, causing you to roll your eyes and dig your fingernails into your palms from the sheer rage that now seemed to be pulsating throughout your entire being,
“I’m sure whoever gets the short end of the stick in this...arrangement can always turn to the other for a raving recommendation letter after they track down and apply to whatever museum establishment that’s desperate enough to hire them after this”
The shared dark laughter that escapes the both of them at his sad attempt to reassure you only makes your stomach curl in disgust. How can he just be okay with all of this?
“Honestly, all you have to do is write an introductory speech that addresses the latest contemporary art exhibition for the museum’s annual winter gala next Saturday. That gives you both the same amount of time to prepare your material and secure dates for the event, so I think this whole competition sounds pretty fair to me”
“But Dr. Vaughn—“
Your boss abruptly cuts you off, again, “I will allow you both five minutes. Mr. Sterling, you’ll go first before introducing your fellow co-director to the stage, then Miss (L/N) will give her speech before calling me up to the stage. Whoever gives the best speech in reference to the new exhibition will be promoted to head director of this museum’s contemporary art department...and the other will unfortunately be let go from their current position”
You let out an aggravated sigh, which prompts Charles to smirk in your direction,
“And that’s final! Now, get the hell out of my office!”
——————————————————————————————————
The journey home couldn’t have been more painstakingly difficult.
First, you missed your usual train and had to wait a whole 45 minutes for the next one. Then, it began to rain as soon as you started walking down the street towards your apartment and just as your doorman graciously greeted your shaking figure as you scurried into the building, you remembered that the stack of paperwork that you had planned to finish up was locked away...in your desk...back at the museum.
And now, as you trudge down the hallway of your apartment floor, soaked head to toe from the rain, your heart begins to race as you make your way in front of Tim Murphy’s door and muster up the courage to knock.
It only takes a few minutes for the door to open, but once it finally does, you’re met with the sight of an adorable, half-asleep paleontologist that makes you feel like you could melt into the floor at any given moment.
“I was beginning to think you weren’t coming”
You chuckle halfheartedly at him, a tired smile making its way across your face regardless of the pounding sensation in your head and the ringing sounds in your ears. Tim always seems to have that effect on you.
“Sorry, I had a long day” You mutter, cheekily.
Tim hums amusedly before moving to the side to let you in,
“I was fully prepared to take Stevie in as my own, actually. I have an extra cat bed and everything. I’m sure she’d get along just fine with Lydia”
You enter the apartment and spot your beloved cat sleeping cozily under the breakfast table near the kitchen, curled up right next to Tim’s orange tabby.
You smile at the sight, taking your wet shoes off before plopping down onto one of the stools at the kitchen counter, exhausted.
“Honestly, you make a better parent than I could ever be” You chuckle, glancing towards Tim as he sets down a glass of water in front of you. His disheveled hair and slightly pouting mouth causes a blush to grow across your cheeks again as you’re reminded of something,
“Sorry if my late arrival woke you up”
He shakes his head at you, a sleepy smile spreading across his face,
“It’s okay, I wasn’t exactly...asleep. I had to finish up some last minute research in preparation for an excavation in Arizona next week”
Next week. Fuck.
You chug the water in front of you, abruptly, before placing the cup back down onto the counter and burying your face into your hands. Your mind spiraling with thoughts about the impending winter gala and him.
“So...I’m assuming that that conversation with your boss didn’t go over very well”
You groan in acknowledgement, before glancing back up at the attentive paleontologist,
“You could say that,” You laugh, sarcastically, “Hell, I may not even have a job by the time next week rolls around”
This seems to get Tim’s attention, because he leans closer to you from the other side of the kitchen counter and your breath hitches in your throat when you notice the way his biceps flex from underneath his sweatshirt.
“Well now you have to tell me what happened” He exclaims, with a tone of genuine curiosity.
You almost can’t formulate a response when you realize just how close your hands are from each other, so you muster out a weak cough and casually begin to play with the empty glass in front of you.
It’s just a hand, (Y/N). Just a nice, particularly soft-looking hand that just so happens to belong to your incredibly brilliant and handsome neighbor, Tim Murphy. Calm down.
“Well, my boss has always been one to enjoy watching people suffer before rewarding them” You sigh in frustration as you recall the last few hours of your day,
“I thought I was walking into his office to finally receive the promotion that I’ve been working day and night over for the last eight months,” You continue, running a finger across the rim of the glass repeatedly, as anxiety starts to rise within your chest again,
“And I suppose my suspicions were right” You chuckle, sadly, “but he ended up making the so-called promotion a competition between my ex and I”
You bite your lip in frustration, the wounds inflicted from the previous conversation still fresh on your mind.
“Wait—you’re not talking about…” Tim trails off in disbelief and you nod your head in confirmation.
Tim Murphy was well acquainted with the sheer emotional damage that Charles had put you through. In fact, after the break-up, it was Tim that so graciously convinced you to get the hell out of bed and resume the rest of your life after coming over to your apartment due to another mail mix-up. While you took a well-needed shower, Tim prepared a nice spaghetti dinner and put on some comedy show for the both of you to watch aimlessly as you attempted to catch up on what the rest of the world was doing after it had seemingly crashed all around you. That night definitely didn’t do anything to alleviate your growing feelings for him.
“Wow” His head tilts in slight surprise, “That’s so unfair!”
“Right! That’s exactly what I said to my boss but he wasn’t having any of it” You scoff as you recall the aggravating image of your boss’ smirking face.
“And now I have to work my ass off trying to write a decent introduction speech commemorating our latest exhibition for the winter gala. Oh! And I have to find a date to the stupid thing with only a weeks notice! Where in the world am I going to find a date to this event with only a weeks notice in this city!?”
You were starting to freak out now, pulling on some strands of damp hair that you had somehow managed to wrap entirely around your fingers as you tried to make sense of your unfortunate predicament.
“I could be your date.”
The words fall from Tim’s mouth so abruptly and effortlessly that it takes a few seconds for you to register their meaning.
“What?”
“Well...I think I still have a nice suit lying around here somewhere from my last work event. Plus, I’ve been to my fair share of museum galas, so it won’t be much of a hassle. I could be your date.”
“Tim, you really don’t have to do this! I mean—What about the excavation to Arizona? You can’t miss out on that! I would feel so bad if I made you miss out on that trip all because of this stupid arrangement” You’re blushing now at his offer and suddenly the wall next to his head is very captivating.
“When exactly is this winter gala anyways?”
“Saturday at 6 p.m.”
A smug, satisfied grin stretches across Tim’s face as he leans even closer to you and the redness across your cheeks grows when your eyes meet,
“I get back Friday night. It’ll be fine.”
You sigh in guilt, not wanting to overstep, “Are you absolutely certain about this? I guarantee you’ll be exhausted once you get back and I don’t wanna drag you into another tedious social event right after a week of strenuous excavation work”
“I mean if you want me to memorize some cue cards, I’m all for that...but I think I have enough experience under my belt from high school theatre group to properly wing it”
You chuckle at his lame attempt to humor you, but your resolve remains undeterred,
“And you’re 100% positive that you’re okay with staying by my side all night, in formal dress attire, chatting up a storm with just about any and most likely all of my colleagues over strictly art related stuff? It’s an exhausting experience.”
Tim shrugs his shoulders, the amused, stubborn grin never leaving his face,
“Like I said before, I go to museum galas all the time, it’s nothing I can’t handle.”
You let out another exasperated sigh in defeat, standing up from your stool at the counter and walking towards the fridge to fill your glass again. A shiver runs down your spine and you want to blame the wet nature of your clothes but you know from the shakiness of your fingers carrying the glass and the heat radiating off your cheeks that it’s because of the close proximity between Tim’s face and yours just moments ago.
“Fine. You can be my date. But I seriously cannot thank you enough for what you’re doing for me, Tim Murphy. I really have done nothing but complain to you all evening and now you’re swooping in and saving my ass again. What—Do I have to sell you my soul this time to properly repay my debt?”
Tim chuckles, turning around to look at you again.
“Luckily for you, I’m feeling generous enough to let you keep your soul for just a little while longer. But seriously, don’t feel pressured to repay me.”
You open your mouth to protest but the words are silenced by the sound of thunder rumbling from just outside the apartment, shaking the floor beneath your feet.
“Shit! I completely forgot that it’s raining,” Tim gestures towards your clothes, his eyes wide with concern, “You must be freezing!”
You blush again as you glance down towards your damp clothes, “Oh no! It’s fine, I sort of forgot about it too...I’m not—”
You trail off when you realize that Tim is no longer standing right in front of you, only to hear the sound of him rummaging through his laundry machine.
You grin widely as you’re reminded of just how insistently kind and compassionate he can be.
He sort of stumbles back into the kitchen from a clumsy attempt at speed-walking, and before you realize it, he’s wrapping a warm bath towel around your shoulders and rubbing the material up and down your arms to help you dry off.
The grin on your face only widens and you lock your eyes onto the floor, hoping to hide the now stark red state of your blushing cheeks.
“Jeez, Tim, you really didn’t have to go through all that trouble, but thanks” You mumble, trying to keep yourself composed.
Tim only laughs in exasperation at your comment, “What kind of host would I be if I let you freeze to death?”
You glance back up at him, attempting to ignore the way that your breath hitches when you notice the close proximity of your faces again,
“Well...technically I forced you to invite me when I stupidly left my bedroom window open this morning…” You trail off when Tim gives you a pointed look, as if to say: You’re always welcome here, regardless of the circumstances.
Your gaze drops to the floor again as another rumble of thunder shakes the whole apartment, and the grin returns to your face when you make out the smallest detail of a mini brachiosaurus on the bath towel,
“Why am I not surprised that you have your own personalized dino bath towels, Tim Murphy”
He laughs bashfully and you glance up to take in the sight. His eyes meet yours and you smile back at each other for what feels like a lifetime, your heart pounding in your chest as the space between the two of you almost seems to get smaller and smaller until...you’re interrupted by the feeling of something fluffy brushing across your feet and the familiar purring sound of your cat, Stevie.
“I should probably go. You need your rest and I need to get started on the first draft of my speech. I gotta get a head start on that asshole, at the very least.”
Tim chuckles understandably and the towel leaves your shoulders, taking the warmth that had so swiftly flooded your body with it.
“Yeah, you’re probably right, I should go to bed and you should start writing a very important introduction speech at one in the morning”
Your eyes widen and Stevie lets out another loud purring noise, as if amused by your blatant clumsiness,
“What the fuck?! I swear it was just 11:30”
Tim only shrugs again in amusement and you promptly lean down to scoop up your cat from the ground in an attempt to hide the blush that seemed to now be permanently etched across your cheeks, desperate for a chance to leave before you could embarrass yourself any further.
“Thanks again, Tim...for everything! I guess I’ll see you next weekend...” You mumble out the words quickly, flashing Tim an awkward smile as you put your slightly damp shoes back onto your feet.
“(Y/N)...”
“Oh right, and good luck with your Arizona excavation...I just know you’ll discover something truly spectacular this time!” You’re shuffling towards the front door now, silently praying that the sound of your heart pounding against your chest isn’t loud enough for Tim to hear.
“Thanks, I’ll see-”
But you don't even let him finish before you promptly shut the door behind you, feeling equally elated as you do terrified about the week ahead of you and the absurdity of this entirely haphazard arrangement.
Your Harry - Harry Potter Imagine
A/N- Here is a request I got & wrote a while ago, but for some reason forgot to post! Hope you enjoy it, please send me more requests and let me know if you do enjoy!
Request: harry x reader. during the battle of Hogwarts, and they've been dating for years and reader reacts to hagrid bringing harry out of the forest dead. then after the battle they find each other and its really passionate and emotional!
DISCLAIMER: Some lines of this writing come directly from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” mainly the quotes said by Voldemort. This is only to maintain consistency within the story, since the request asked for a specific scene that happened in the book. I do NOT take credit for the portions written by JK Rowling.
A streak of green flew by you, passing so close to your head that your body seized up at the thought of the near miss. Avada Kedavaras were flying everywhere, and at this point your strategy had become to keep moving, to not stay still for longer than ten seconds, because it made it harder for them to hit you.
But it was getting harder to keep moving.
You were not a particularly incredible witch, or at least you had never considered yourself to be one. You weren’t a bad witch, you got good marks in all your classes, but you weren’t a Hermione Granger. Perhaps what you had always lacked was a motivation to push yourself, because at this very moment, spells were flowing from your wand like water. That is to say, you had an ample amount of motivation: to live. Your wand had become an extension of your arm, and your mind and body had melded into a rhythm that made casting spells feel as natural as breathing.
You were currently stood in the courtyard of Hogwarts, which had become the epicenter of the battle. To your far right was Ginny Weasley, and to your left were a few students that were a few years under you, you didn’t know their names.
A death eater stood a couple feet away from you, hurling curses towards you unrelentingly. So far, you had managed to dodge them, but you boiled it down to nothing more than sheer luck. You sent curses flying his way, but you were no match for his skill. He gained ground on you slowly, making steps of progress that to you seemed like miles. You kept yourself moving, trying not to turn your back. You stepped back a couple feet, lunging quickly to your right as another curse flew by you, then stepping forward again and sending another one his way.
Then suddenly, you were on your back. You hit the ground with an incredible thud, your head smacking down to connect with the cold, stone floor. You had tripped over something, and your vision was now slightly blurred, but you scrambled for your wand, seeing the death eater smile as he ran closer.
“You have fought,”
A high, cold voice rang out loudly. It was so loud it sounded as if it was speaking to the entire castle. Your senses were slightly fuzzed, but you scrambled up quickly, your hand outstretched to the death eater, who had frozen to his spot. It was at this moment you realized that the person who had spoken was Voldemort himself. You felt your body go ice cold.
“Valiantly. Lord Voldemort knows how to value true bravery.”
You looked around you, seeing everyone turn their heads up in either fear or pride, depending on what side they fell on. Lord Voldemort kept talking, but you felt as though you knew exactly what he was now to say. You body began to shake, from fear or rage you couldn’t tell, and as soon as the words you feared reverberated across the castle, you felt the dread sink into your chest.
“I speak now, Harry Potter, directly to you. You have permitted your friends to die for you rather than face me yourself. I shall wait for one hour in the Forbidden Forest. If, at the end of that hour, you have not come to me, have not given yourself up, then battle recommences,”
Voldemort continued to speak, but you were thinking, trying to remember the last place you had seen Harry. You turned, your eyes widening, realizing that what had made you trip was a dead body. You didn’t stop to look at who it was, you just stepped over it and kept moving.
You were running. You had to find him. Harry Potter. Stupid Harry Potter. Annoying, disgusting, beautiful, heart-shatteringly good Harry Potter. Your Harry Potter.
You were running through the castle, ducking through corridors, flying past people, not even sure if they were on your side or on his. You saw people on the floor, nursing wounds, people who looked just like you: looking for someone else, and you saw people with a pain in their eyes that meant they had seen something they would never be able to unsee.
Tears were falling down your face, and your heart was racing so fast you thought your chest would explode. You turned another corner and immediately were hit by something, making you fall back onto the floor, for the second time in an hour. Your head was quicker to recover this time, partly due to the adrenaline coursing through your veins. You got up quickly, and saw nothing standing where you were knocked back.
Your mind was racing, your chest rising quickly with shallow breaths. Then it hit you.
“HARRY!!” You yelled, your arms instantly stretching out in front of you, grasping at the air. You walked around desperately, your arms waving around your body, praying to feel contact of an invisible body. You kept on for ten minutes, going up and down the corridor, which was covered in rubble.
He had left. He had been there, in front of you, and he had gone. You knew it was because he was leaving, that he couldn’t bear to say goodbye to you, but your heart broke at the thought of not letting him know how much you loved him.
He was probably almost to the forbidden forest by now, and you didn’t know whether or not to go after him. You left the corridor, quickly finding a staircase and tearing down it, only to run into Ron and Hermione. You stopped. You only glanced at their faces, your eyes had only scanned over them for less than half a second, and you instantly knew that he had really gone.
The three of you stared at each other for a minute, a silent understanding passing over all of you. You jumped over the final few steps of the stairs, turning a hard left to try and sprint past the two, but Ron’s arms outstretched and caught you mid sprint, not letting you go any further.
You struggled against his arms, screaming and crying, pleading with him to let you go, to let you run to him, but Ron kept you there. Eventually you stopped struggling and just let yourself cry and be held, Ron’s restraints turning into a hug, Hermione joining by wrapping her arms around you as well. The three of you stood this way for a couple minutes, the occasional teacher or student rushing past holding bandages or running towards someone to heal their injuries.
“Harry Potter is dead. He was killed as he ran away, trying to save himself as you laid your lives down for him…” The voice spoke with such defiant pride that it rang through the castle, making your body tremble. You broke free from the sad arms of your friends to venture to the entrance of the castle, your eyes staring but not really seeing.
It was an army of death eaters, led by Voldemort himself, Hagrid walking slightly behind him, a limp form cradled in his arms. The people of Hogwarts had gathered at the entrance, you glanced around and saw familiar faces, all contorted in the same horrified way. Pushing your way to the very front, you finally let your eyes focus on the body in Hagrid’s arms. Harry.
Mcgonagall's scream came first, tearing through the courtyard with such emotion that you fell to your knees. Then came Ron and Hermione’s cries, simultaneously ripping into the ears of all the people gathered to witness the end of The Boy Who Lived.
You were last, your body still kneeling on the ground, your voice rising up from your body so savagely that it felt more like you were going to vomit rather than scream, a visceral reaction to what you were witnessing.
Voldemort called for silence, but you couldn’t hear anymore. The blood pounding in your ears made you deaf, and you let your head fall, your chin resting on your chest as you internally decided to give up. The tears came fast and free now, and you made no attempt to stop them. Someone beside you had stepped forward, but you didn’t care enough to look at who it was. After a few seconds, you felt a shift in the people behind you, suddenly a roar of sound coming from your left, and the ground beneath you started to tremble.
You looked up to see a sight very different from the one you had seen just seconds ago. From your left came a swarming army of people, accompanied by a giant who you remembered to be Grawp.
At the same time, Neville (who had been the one to step up, you now realized) slashed the head of Nagini, the last Horcrux. Then, Hagrid, who was being approached by Grawp, began to shout.
Hagrid yelled, “HARRY- WHERE’S HARRY?”
And indeed, Harry was no longer in Hagrid’s arms, nor on the floor beneath him, nor anywhere around him. Your heart swelled up again, your tears still falling, your eyes darting around frantically to find Harry.
Hermione was suddenly at your side, picking you off the ground, as chaos had just started to erupt in the courtyard. People were now fighting again, and with an earnest passion that must have stemmed from seeing their hero lying dead.
Hermione ushered you into the Great Hall, where the fighting was ravenous and exhilarating.
As you entered, a spell flew past your heads, and you felt the anger in the pit of your stomach rising like a fire burning up your insides. You detached yourself from Hermione, and it seemed that she had the same idea, because you both unsheathed your wands and allowed your anger to fuel you into action. You travelled through the room, quickly and efficiently disarming death eaters as you went. Voldemort was just feet from you now, facing off against Mcgonagall, Slughorn and Kingsley. You watched as the three were suddenly thrown back, Voldemort turning to where you stood, Molly Weasley just next to you.
Then, as if from thin air, came a shield charm, expanding itself in front of you and Molly. You and Voldemort looked for the source of the charm, and suddenly Harry was there, in the room, in front of Voldemort. Cheers erupted in the room, and you allowed yourself to feel relieved, if only for a moment.
And so the two circled each other, spitting words at each other, Voldemort taunting and cackling and Harry taunting him back. Harry explained Voldemort’s biggest mistake: that of the Elder Wand. The Great Hall was silence itself, not one person dared to even breathe. Your breath was stuck in your chest, refusing to let go, holding on to every word that came out of your boyfriend’s mouth. Voldemort’s confidence was slowly fading. Your eyes didn’t dare to even blink, for fear of missing even the slightest change. And then, the two raised their wands, and it was the moment of truth.
A streak of light. Two spells colliding. The Elder Wand flying in the air to land in Harry’s hand. Voldemort crumpling to the floor, lifeless.
A beat of silence.
And then you were in Harry’s arms. The whole room erupted, cheers and yells of triumph, people hugging and crying and falling to the floor in relief. But you didn’t pay attention to anything except Harry’s heartbeat as it thudded against your chest, his face buried in your hair, his breath across the back of your neck. You were both crying.
“I’m so sorry,” you heard Harry’s whisper in your ear clearly, despite ocean of noise around you. The three words carried so much weight. He held you tightly, his entire body shaking, and you held him in return, your arms encircling his neck and your face resting on his shoulder.
“It’s okay,” you whispered back. “You’re okay. We’re okay.”
Ron and Hermione reached the two of you, and you let Harry go so that they could engulf him in more desperate hugs.
It was over.
~
After everything had died down, and all that was left was the rubble and the pain and the sorrow, you and Harry held onto each other as if letting go would cause the other to disintegrate. You helped each other through the grief that soon followed, through the pain of the losses you had both endured. The sight of Harry in Hagrid’s arms did haunt you, but having him by your side eased that pain just a little.
You both eventually moved on, your love for each other only growing and blossoming. Harry enjoyed getting to leave behind “Harry, the boy who lived, defeater of Voldemort” and just getting to be “Harry.” Your Harry.
