I'm not a football fan actually but i really do wanna watch it?How do I get started with football?Like how do I select the team?what are the rules?
hi!! very happy that you wanna get into football! World Cup is an amazing time to start things!
So, there aren’t many rules, (with selecting the team) with World Cup you usually support your national team (short nt or seleção in Portuguese) but that can change sometimes.
With a football club (ex: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Flamengo, River Plate, FC Milan, Bayern Munchen) is usually a very emotional identification/vibes thing. I don’t know where you live or how or your local league works, but if you can’t find a club that you wanna support and be a fan of some ppl choose to support an international football club.
Check the major national leagues (Brasileirão, La Liga, Ligue 1, Primera División, Premier League, Bundesliga, Campeonato Nacional AFP PlanVital) and the continental cups (Champions League, Copa Libertadores da América, Europa League, Copa Sulamericana) current and past editions to get to know the teams, their history and vibes
World Cup normally happens during the global north summer, in July, but FIFA made this awful decision of hosting it in Qatar so we having it in November, which fucked up the entire football season around the world.
In the north, a new season starts in the end of summer, has a winter break and ends at the begging of the next summer. Here in the south it works with our seasons, so it begins around the middle of our summer: February, march, and it ends in November, our winter.
Of course it’s easier to support a local/national football club, but it’s not impossible to support an international one. My team Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, has the largest amount of fans in Brazil and in the world, so we are everywhere.
When it comes to learning about the sport itself, the rules, how it works practically and so on, like I said, watching the World Cup is an amazing time to see the the best of the what sport has to offer! The narrators and commentators know that the general public is watching so they always explain the rules, and you can check wikis and stuff for the the proper written stuff while you check how it translates in the field. It’s also great to get to know the players, which club they play for and potential clubs to check when the football season begins again. We are currently in the group fase of the World Cup and have up to 4 matches a day!
Teams play one match against the other teams in their group and the top two teams with the most points from each group advance to the knockout stage.
A victory equals three points.
A draw equals one point.
A loss equals no points.
If the top two teams are tied in points, the first place team is the team with a higher goal differential (the difference between how many goals a team conceded and scored in its games) or whichever team won the head-to-head matchup.
The first place team of a group goes on to play the second place team of another group (and vice versa) in the first knockout stage, also known as the round of 16. Then the number of teams gets cut to eight, then four in the next stage, then to two, who will play in the final on Sunday Dec. 18. A third place match between the losers of the semi-final games will be played the day before.

I think I wrote a lot already, I’m sorry about the rambling, I’m gonna end on a very clubista (biased) note and attach a video of one of the most emotional matches of my team, the libertadores final of 2019
If you have any more questions or need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask!
*edited this and fixed the typos, And grammar issues, I’m sorry about them, wrote this on a hurry before therapy!

What are your preferences to win A Dal besides Leander Kills?
Leander Kills needs to wi- ok
i could also defintiely settle for Salvus, that chorus ends and revives me every time, the only thing i’m worried about is sending a rock band 2 times in a row, as people might get enough of it? definitely not me, but you know?? (speaking of rock, Fatal Error is also p good and they won the 2nd heat last night, but i thiiiink i prefer Salvus by a margin)
and like Vavra Bence is really damn good, Konyha and uhhhhh… yeah i think thats that?
i’ve heard people are hyping yesyes & The Middletonz (nice alekseev reference @ kállay) but tbh yesyes was weak last night and only the public saved them, and both songs are overall very made-for-radio that you hear a great variety of on esc every year, and i just.. don’t find them original?? i definitely prefer The Middletonz over the two, it sounds better both track and live voice-wise, but *shrug* i still don’t really connect with it. also why is Kállay back like every year like– Pápai Joci is also back and i love love love him, but compared to Origo, this new song just slips my mind immediately, like i couldn’t recall the melody even if you put a gun to my head rn, so he shall keep his legacy imo.
and then my absolute nos are USNK (their hype scares me, its most utter trash if i’ve ever heard one? if somehow they get choosen it will be a first time i will root for us not to make it in the final. yes, i hate it that much jsdhdfj), Ruby Harlem, Monyo Project and Deniz are also there with me just.. wondering why they are even an option. hopefully these will all get voted out aswell, 8 already did. it was probably a good choice bc out of those 8 i only remember like one.
then what i didnt mention but are still in for it are just probably songs i cant even recall, take that as you will kjdhffk

Teddy Bear - Rose Lavelle/Reader
I was gonna post this yesterday, but I was really tired and ended up falling asleep at 9:00 last night. It was weird yesterday cause I ended up getting nearly 10 hours of sleep.
prompt: Hey there! Could you write one where R is new to the USWNT but she’s really intimidating? The team accidentally end up leaving R out of team bonding. R eventually ends up hanging out with Rose. Rose sees R interacting with dogs one day and her crush on R grows even bigger. R then asks Rose out and the team is concerned but ultimately are chewed out by Rose for leaving R out of team activities
warnings: Swearing
words: 2843

(Y/N) POV
I threw my bag onto the bed before glancing around the room. I was a little surprised that my roommate wasn’t here yet. I had taken a later flight since I had some things to take care of in Houston. I had to talk with Kristie and Rachel about watching over Cooper for me.
It was weird to be called up to the senior national team camp. Especially considering that I had flown under the radar of the national team for all of my college career. I had stood out enough for the Houston Dash to select me in the draft. With 2018 being my rookie season and they season that I shined to win the Rookie of the Year Award, the USWNT had taken notice of me. It probably helped that I went out on a loan to the Brisbane Roar, and I had done really well there as well.
I was brought out of my thoughts by the door to the room opening. I looked up to see Rose Lavelle entering. She looked like she was struggling a bit with her bags and the door so I rushed up and over to her. Rose flinched at my sudden movement and I didn’t blame her.
I would have been weary too if a 6′2″ giant rushed over to me. I put a hand on the door to hold it open for her.
“You want help with your bags?”
“I’ve got it,” Rose shook her head as she kept her eyes on the ground.
I was also used to people not making eye contact with me seeing as most people tended to stare at the scars on my face. They also seemed to believe that the scars made me aggressive and rude. But as I had been assured by many of my Houston Dash teammates, I was only aggressive on the pitch. It was something I had grown used to.
Rose took the bed that didn’t have my bag on it. I closed the door and walked into the room to look at her. I could see Rose eyeing the bed that I had thrown my bag on.
“If you want the bed by the window, that’s fine,” I assured her. Rose looked back at me and I nodded to it. “You can have it. It doesn’t bother me. I just sat down there.”
Rose gave me a soft smile and moved her stuff to the other bed before I grabbed my stuff from the bed. I moved it to the other bed. I saw Rose perk up slightly when her phone rang so I figured it was a friend of hers. I started to unpack my stuff.
“I don’t know, Mal,” Rose said as I walked into the bathroom to put my toothbrush and my shampoo and conditioner in there. “I’m rooming with (Y/N) (Y/L/N).”
I tried not to let the fact that they were talking about me get to me. I was a little surprised to find Rose walking out of the door when I was walking out of the bathroom. I had a feeling that she was talking to Mallory Pugh, which probably meant that there was team bonding, but no one had yet to tell me.
I wanted to shrug it off, and I might have been able to if someone from my NWSL team was here to assure me that it was fine, but they weren’t. I shook my head and continued to unpack my stuff. It didn’t take me long before I headed to go get my gear since I was new and didn’t actually have any of the training gear that we would use. I knocked on the door to the room I was told that my gear would be at.
I was surprised to see Jill and Dawn being the ones who were sorting everything out. Both of the women turned to look at me. I gave them a small wave.
“I’m surprised to see you here,” Jill admitted.
“I don’t know why.” I shrugged. I motioned to the gear that they were sorting. “I came to get my stuff.”
Jill nodded as Dawn moved to get my gear. Jill studied me and I knew that I was tense. I wasn’t like the other girls on the team who all had teammates from their NWSL teams coming. Well, Carli didn’t, but she had been with the team for so long now that everyone knew who she was.
“You know there is team bonding tonight,” Jill said.
“Wasn’t invited.”
Dawn and Jill shared a look but I played it off. I eyed the gear in Dawn’s hands and knew that it was mine.
“That mine?” I asked and Dawn nodded. I took it from her and gave her a smile. “Thanks.”
I turned to head back to my room. A hand on my arm stopped me. I turned to look at my two coaches.
“(Y/N), if you want, we can talk to the team,” Dawn assured.
“It’s fine.”
The two looked skeptical but I headed back to my room. I didn’t do much more besides end up ordering room service for dinner. I ended up sending Kristie a text to let her know that I was going to get a shower so she wouldn’t call me while I was doing that. Once I got out, I let her know so that she would call me when she was home.
It didn’t take long for my phone to ring. Sure enough, it was Kristie. I grinned as I answered the phone.
“Hey.”
“Are you missing us yet, (Y/N),” Kristie asked. I chuckled because I wasn’t necessarily missing them, but I was missing Cooper.
“No, not yet.”
“I see how it is,” Kristie scoffed. I smiled at her and she laughed a little. “Who are you rooming with?”
“Rose Lavelle.”
“Too bad it isn’t Sammy. I swear you are going to join her single person height group so it’ll just be you two freaks against the rest of us.”
“Yeah, if she ever talks to me,” I sighed. Kristie looked confused because I knew that she had told Sam about me, but Sam and I had never actually met each other off of the field. “I asked Rose if she wanted some help with her stuff and she declined. I figure Mallory Pugh called her and told her about team bonding and no one invited me.”
“Oh, (Y/N).”
“It’s fine. I’m used to it,” I shook my head. I cleared my throat after we stayed on Facetime with silence. Which normally wouldn’t have been awkward, but Kristie understood how hard it was for me.
“You know, you can let your emotions out every now and then if you want,” Kristie assured. I couldn’t do what she said. It wasn’t that easy. “Just tell Rose that you don’t want to be left out.”
“How’s Cooper?” I changed the subject.
“Out on a walk with Rachel and Dexi.”
The door to my hotel room opened. I wasn’t too worried about it since there was security to make sure that we had the floor to ourselves, so if it wasn’t Rose then it had to be someone with the USWNT. But, Rose did walk into the room.
“I wanna see my baby!”
“You will!”
“But now,” I whined. Kristie shook her head at me.
“You’re just as bad a Rachel is whenever we Facetime and Dexi is with me.”
“You’re telling me that you aren’t the same way?”
“Who are you talking to?” Rose asked. I turned in my bed to look at her before showing her the phone. “Oh, hey, Kristie.”
“Hey, Rose.”
“Oh, look, it’s a puppy!” Rose squealed. A familiar bark came through the phone and I knew that Rachael had to have gotten back. I moved the phone back so I could look at it. I grinned when I saw Cooper.
“My baby!” Cooper immediately looked around at the sound of my voice. Kristie shook her head and passed the phone off to Rachel. “Was he good on the walk?”
“Yeah, he was great,” Rachel nodded.
“I cannot thank you guys enough for watching Cooper while I’m at camp.”
“It’s no problem,” Rachel assured. I knew that it had been something that I had sprung on them still. I happened to glance at the time because Rose looked like she was sleepy.
“Hey, I’m gonna go. Call me tomorrow?”
“Yeah, Kristie or I will.”
“Thanks,” I said. Rachel just nodded before she hung up. I sighed and set the alarm on my phone before plugging it up to charge. “I know you didn’t unpack your stuff today, but if you want my help tomorrow, I can help you.”
“It’s fine.”
“Okay.”
I just played on my phone while Rose got ready for bed. I was a little surprised once Rose got into her bed. She turned to look at me.
“What kind of dog do you have?”
“Cooper’s an Australian Shepherd. Next time you’re in Houston, you can meet him if you want.”
“That’d be cool,” Rose nodded. I gave her a small smile before I turned off the light so we could go to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although most of the team still hadn’t warmed up to me, I was surprised that Rose had started to hang out with me quite a bit. I had a feeling that Kristie had something to do with it, however. It wouldn’t have surprised me if Rose had answered Sam’s phone when Kristie was calling her. Rose and I were currently at the park.
“How did you get the scars on your face?” Rose asked me after we had walked in silence for a few minutes. I was a little surprised that she had asked me that. Most people were too scared, and Rose didn’t seem like the person who would ask me that.
“Freshman year of high school,” I admitted. I always told people that it had looked worse than it really was. “It was our first game of the season and I showing off to the other team cause we were winning behind my brace. One of the senior defenders didn’t appreciate that and took a cheap shot to trip me up before she stepped on my face.”
“Holy shit,” Rose gasped. She stopped walking and made me face her. “Didn’t it hurt?”
“I had so much adrenal that I didn’t really notice. They did tell me that I was lucky I didn’t go blind in one eye.”
“What happened to the other player?”
“They didn’t let her play for most of the season, but we met them at state. We won, this time behind my hat-trick.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t hit her.”
“Just because I’m tall doesn’t mean that I’m violent. If I get violent, it’s gonna be on the field.”
I hated the stereotype that followed me around. I didn’t like to get violent with anyone. I could if I needed to, but that rarely occurred. It wasn’t something that I should be used to, but it was something I had grown used to.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
We fell into silence again before we started to walk. I smiled as we saw kids running around playing. Something caught my eye. It was a man walking his dog. I gave a small squeal causing Rose to look at me weird and the dog to turn it’s attention to me.
The dog gave a small bark and tried to get over to me. I grinned as I took long strides to the dog. I looked at the man first.
“Can I pet him?” I asked him. The man nodded and let me pet his dog.
I grinned as I knelt down to bet the dog. The dog really loved the attention too. I couldn’t help but laugh when the dog licked my face. Rose joined me in petting the dog. We didn’t stay long to give the dog attention but it had made me a lot happier.
“You really love dogs,” Rose said. I looked at her with a grin on my face.
“Yeah, they don’t judge me for being tall or the scars on my face.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I jumped out of my bed once I heard Rose call out that she was going to go hang out with Mal and Sam. I grabbed onto her arm. I normally wouldn’t do what I was about to, but Kristie had pushed me to do it.
“Do you wanna go on a date with me?” I asked. Rose looked a little surprised. “You don’t have to. I just, I thought... Stupid idea, sorry.”
“No, (Y/N), it’s not stupid,” Rose assured as she gave me a smile. “I’d love to go on a date with you. But tonight is our last night at camp.”
“There’s this restaurant not far from here I’d like to take you to tonight if you want. It’s not really fancy either, so.”
Rose grinned and nodded. She pulled me down by my shirt some before she stood on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek. I felt my cheeks heat up as I ducked my head. Rose pushed me so that I had my back to her.
“What are you doing?”
Rose shushed me as she opened the closet. I furrowed my brow in confusion. I heard the closet door shut before the hotel door opened.
“I want it to be a surprise for when you pick me up. I’ll be in Mal and Sam’s room. Pick me up at 7,” Rose said. I smiled even though she couldn’t see it. Once the door shut behind me, I did a fist pump in excitement.
I had quite a while until I would pick Rose up since it was only 2:00. I didn’t do much besides taking a shower and then I called Kristie to tell her and Rachel about my date. I was sure that they would spread the word to my Houston teammates soon enough. I started to get ready around 6:00 so that I could be a little early to pick Rose up.
I opted to wear my ripped black jeans with them cuffed at the bottom and my boots on. I wore a white shirt and a red flannel over it. Once I grabbed my phone and wallet, I headed to Mal and Sam’s room. I could hear voices talking behind the door. I went ahead and knocked on it anyways.
“I can’t believe you’re going on a date with (Y/N),” Alex’s voice made me froze. I didn’t realize that some of the others had joined in hanging out in Mal and Sam’s room. “We know nothing about her and she could be dangerous.”
The door opened and I faced Alex herself. Alex froze when she realized that I was outside the door. I looked away from her and at Rose who had looked to see who was at the door. I couldn’t help but stare at Rose. She was dressed in a flowery dress with a jean jacket and Doc Martens. Rose looked amazing.
“You look beautiful,” I smiled at her.
I ignored the stares that I got from our national teammates. Rose blushed and looked down.
“Thanks, you looked good, too,” Rose said when she looked up.
“Are you ready?” I asked Rose as I motioned behind me. “If not, I can wait. I know I’m early.”
“No, I’m ready,” Rose assured. She joined me at the door after she grabbed a small purse.
“Rose,” Ali said as she grabbed ahold of Rose’s arm. Rose turned to look at her and pulled her arm away.
“No, okay. I’m going on a date with (Y/N), and you all are just going to have to deal with it,” Rose snapped. I had assumed that I had been the reason a majority of the national team was in Mal and Sam’s room. “None of you know her. I barely know her, but I know that she isn’t some asshole. (Y/N)’s just a big teddy bear and you all would know that if you would invite her to team bonding. None of you want her there, and why? Cause she’s tall? She has scars on her face? Guess, what. I don’t care. I want to go out on a date with her and I’m gonna go and have a good time. The rest of you are just going to have to deal with and get to know her. Cause once you do, you’ll realize that she is a teddy bear.”
Rose huffed and grabbed onto my arm. She dragged me to the elevators. We stayed quiet until we got into the elevators. Once the doors closed, I looked at Rose.
“Thank you,” I softly said. Rose looked at me confused. “Most people wouldn’t have done that for me. You did, so thanks.”
“It’s no problem,” Rose smiled at me. She reached up to kiss my cheek. “Besides, I wasn’t wrong. You’re a big teddy bear.”

2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019
*arrives a month late*... Happy 2021 to all of you, my dear followers! *raises a glass* It seems that my tendency to finish my artwork or personal posts on time has only gotten worse over time (I blame work *lol*). Oh well, better late than never, since there are things I would still like to take with me from this extraordinary year of 2020.
It is cringeworthy that I have two huge red X-s this year. But after I'd put these puzzle pieces together, I remembered far too well what was going on in my (work) life at the time, so it's completely understandable why I didn't have the time nor the energy to draw at all during those two months.
What were those typical statistics that I wrote about again to compare the years? *goes to read last year's post*.. Oh, right! In 2020, I managed to finish 3 full digital drawings (from the months of April, July and December) as well as work on several sketches. I wrote 28,154 words worth of fanfiction (oohh, that's a lot better than previous year), plus 3,126 words in English (I dare say I wrote an equal amount in Estonian) for the prompts I got during UYLD (making the total 31,280 words, which is quite impressive!).
I finished reading the 1st Kyoshi novel in the evening of the 20th and slightly past midnight on the 21st December (barely before the holidays, but I set this goal for myself and I did it!). Am already looking forward to starting with the 2nd part some time this year. Besides that, I ordered and received all the other new Avatar books that came out (3rd part of "Ruins of the Empire", "Katara and the Pirate's Silver", "Legacy of the Fire Nation") as well as BOTH Avatar series DVD sets (I still can't believe I found these on sale on some random online store in Estonia, but these are now among my most prized possessions!).
I finally started my Avatar rewatch last January, but merely got to the Ba Sing Se episodes in Book 2 (I need to continue with "The Earth King") and now it's been 5 YEARS since I last saw Korra. Reading through my journal personal posts from last year, I know far too well that it's not about rushing through it as fast as possible. Instead, I should enjoy the ride and continue watching the episodes when I'm well rested and in the right mood. That way I'll end up feeling much more at peace.
As for the entire year as a whole? I don't think anyone in this world of ours was prepared for the way this decade would begin - with an uncontrollable pandemic, the virus of which is randomly attacking and threatening to wipe out the weakest amongst us. If any of you (or even if you know someone who) have lost a loved one to this plague, there is not much else I can offer but my sincerest condolences! Me, my family, friends and colleagues seem to have managed to avoid catching it so far. *spits 3 x over her shoulder*
I had such high hopes for this year in so many ways. Event-wise I was looking forward to watching the Eurovision Song Contest in May (where Uku Suviste was supposed to represent Estonia for the 1st time ever after so many unfortunate failures to get selected as the winner of our local competition), the European Football Championships in June (asking my colleagues which countries they support, perhaps make fun bets / guesses with them to see whose team would win the matches), the Tokyo Olympic Games in July-August, the President of Estonia (Mrs. Kersti Kaljulaid) coming to visit my hometown to celebrate our Victory Day by taking part in the parade together with the Defence Forces (after 15 years *sigh*)...
I will always remember my last big event, which took place when life used to be "normal", so to say. It was the 102nd anniversary of Estonia on the 24th of February, when I took part of all the most important celebrations in Tallinn on our Independence Day, FULL-TIME (whenever I scroll through my Facebook timeline, I see the photos I uploaded of that day, my heart melts and I smile fondly). But the day after that.. utter hell broke loose. We had our first infected person in the country.
I will also remember the last day I went to work in "normal" conditions. Friday, the 13th of March (typically my lucky day-number combination): I missed the tram I wanted to get on in the morning, at work my team received great news that one of our colleague's family had grown bigger by a new tiny member the day before, we had our last team lunch together, we discussed the safety measures that we should take and joked about what might happen next week, I took the bus home instead of the tram (as the tram's route came from the airport and that place was considered to be more dangerous and with a higher risk of catching this virus).. It was another 2.5 weeks later by then (since the 25th of February) - Estonia (along with the rest of Europe) went into full lockdown.
The beginning was frightening and people were on edge, nobody really knew what to do nor what was gonna happen next. But in time, things began to shake into place and everybody developed a comfortable routine for remote work, including figuring out how to get everyday things done (such as grocery shopping). I found solace in taking photographs of various beautiful bird species, who began to fly around and serenaded me during spring, visiting the trees around my "nest" i.e. rented apartment (with a pair of them ACTUALLY building a nest in the chestnut tree right beside my window, thus turning me into a protective godmother of their chicks).
To be honest, I was awestruck by the positive / surprising aftermath of this lockdown: how the world / environment began to heal itself from the pollution that was normally caused by humans. I was taken aback by how dead silent our usually loud capital became in my neighbourhood (I could only hear trams passing by my house according to their schedules, practically no cars whatsoever, streets were empty of people.. absolute silence).
By May-June, things started to look up in Estonia (as well as the rest of Europe) and people were allowed to start travelling / moving around more freely. During my vacation in July, I managed to go to my last (open air) event (for the rest of the year) under these new "corona" conditions and ended up having a blast at the Open Farm Days in my home county for the first time.
Our country's shining moment came during the first week of September, when we hosted the first ever Rally Estonia of the World Rally Championship (WRC), where our very own Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja won. The event was so well organized and successful that nobody caught the virus nor did the spectators / participants spread it to others, which surely must've helped in ensuring us a spot in the WRC calendar for 2021 as well.
The remainder of the year was rather dull, with the exception of the US Presidential elections in November, when we were all holding our breaths that Joe Biden would win (congratulations, my American friends!). This eventually led to the painful downfall of THE WORST government the Republic of Estonia has ever had, and to the rise of our first female Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas (both happening in January 2021, I couldn't believe it all spiralled so soon, ha-ha!).
Anyways, during the last 4 months, work was very stressful and driving me nuts, so badly that when I eventually went on vacation before Christmas, I had a slight anxiety disorder that wouldn't let me relax for several days (luckily it went away just as quickly once I began to take it easy and managed to get some proper rest / sleep).
In hindsight, I kind of get this weird feeling as if I saw this whole thing coming, given how actively I was living my life throughout 2019. My final year of the 2010's was so full of important events and personal achievements. It's almost as if something mysterious inside was driving me, telling me to visit all the places and do all the things I wanted to do, cause I wouldn't have this sort of a chance again for a very long time.
This must be the main reason why I am thankful for 2020 for going the way it did. Sure, I'm disappointed that a lot of events were cancelled, that so many people have had to leave this world so soon due to this unpredictable disease.. But I think there are so many lessons to take from what came out of all of this. I believe the world needed some sort of a restart or break, given in what direction we were headed (politically, economically, environmentally, socially etc.). I'm just sorry it's had to come with such a high price of innocent lives.
I have even higher hopes for 2021, given how amazingly January has already passed for me and my country, and what is to come in my hometown in February. Let's take the lessons learned from 2020 with us and keep on heading back towards the "normal" lifestyle we used to know. Except this time, let's improve our ways, put all the hatred behind us, be more considerate, keep a distance, stay safe, but still try to make the world a better place for everyone. Thank you so much for reading, for remaining by my side, and for your support and love throughout the years, my friends! I hope to see you all alive and healthy at the end of the white metal ox year of 2021! *virtual hugs*

psychology 2 Electric boogaloo
So yesterday I posted about the psychological aspects of the entire stock craze.
Today I want to go a bit more in depth of how PSYOPS (psychological operations) normally work for military, but also how they apply to us today. if someone wants me to go in depth on how psyops is used on businesses feel free to let me know I'll do some research and post here
There is a certain order when it comes to PSYOPSIn order to create a successful PSYOP the following must be established:
1  clearly define the mission so that it aligns with national objectives   2  need a PSYOP estimate of the situation   3  prepare the plan   4  media selection   5  product development   6  pretesting - determines the probable impact of the PSYOP on the target audience   7  production and dissemination of PSYOP material   8  implementation   9  posttesting - evaluates audience responses   10 feedback
Before these steps can occur, intelligence analysts must profile potential targets in order to determine which ones it would be most beneficial to target. In order to figure this out, analysts must determine the vulnerabilities of these groups and what they would be susceptible to.
The analysts also determine the attitudes of the targets toward the current situation, their complaints, ethnic origin, frustrations, languages, problems, tensions, attitudes, motivations, and perceptions, and so on. Once the appropriate target(s) have been determined, the PSYOP can be created. this is the basic outline of how a PSYOPS work, now lets compare that to the entire GME situation
this is the basic outline of how a psyop works, now lets compare that to the entire GME situation
1 they need to find out what we think/feel and find our weakness.
this is the most simple one as we work in plain sight and let everyone see our DD
2 Can they pull this off? can they create FUD and divide our ranks?
Also easily yes
3 the plan:
Divide and conquer, make them doubt themselves and show their comrades are not as brotherly as they imagined.
4 the Media selection is also fairly easy to fill in
modern news media, meaning TV, newspapers, and reddit itself. We’ve all seen the people on tv saying we are idiots, we are dumb etc etc News article after news article stating that it’s over And here is the only one that may have actually shown to have some effect: other users Other users saying we missed the boat, other users showing their “gains” and using others to turn against each other. 5 Product development See how well it’s doing so far? 6 pretesting Can and will these things affect us? Yes and no, the media didn’t work as we could see the facts were skewed across the board, and they are still using short ladder attacks so… no Having other users spread doubt… Yes, this has worked for some people. 7 product and dissemination Normally this is where (if it was used by a military operation) it would be implemented, but due to time constraints I believe they started right after the “planning” phase in 3 8 Implementation Putting it to use, again I believe the implementation begon at point 3 9 posttesting Evaluation of the audiences response, do they react and how do they react 10 feedback If it works, at which points, if it doesn’t where and why? This last one is very easy, noticed how all mainstream news died off about the negativity towards GME BB AMC and NOK? But how the influx of new users on WSB become more prevalent? This is because they knew we didn’t give a fuck about the mainstream media, we cared about our brothers in arms.
Now with knowing some of the basics lets do a quick and dirty analysis of all of this, From end of 2020 to about 18-01-2021 the sentiment was positive. At this date we saw a wide range of implementation of the media. And everyone was saying we were stupid etc etc. Hell we even got a billionaire to cry on tv
This negative attention seemed to only bolster us in our conviction that we were and are correct in what our DD has lined out for us.
Ok so the main media networks don't work, What does?
Ok so the main media networks don't work, What does? Well lets use their main tools (reddit) against them. And what did we suddenly see since the 27th/28th? Suddenly the mod team changes, and this is very important because if you control the people who control the board you control the narrative, skewing it from positive to negative. (as we’ve seen a lot of people getting their positive posts deleted, their DD deleted etc etc) We also seen a massive influx of bots, negative posters, people showing their “gains” And this seemed to work so they stuck with it. Now look at these last paragraphs and compare them to a normal Psyops mission. Do you think they kind of align a lot? Good because this is what we have been using since as long as we can remember Some real world examples of things like this being implemented are for example: The Gleiwitz incident Hitler invaded Poland, took control of their radio tower and made it seem like Poland attacked Germany, this way he could “retaliate” without any repercussions at the time. As he was only defending his country.
Operation Bodyguard A plan to mislead the Germans during WW2 to make them think the time and place of the invasion (D-day) would take place at another time and date then it did. There are a lot of WW2 examples but I think it’s more prudent to focus on modern day as this was the beginning of modern psyops, but it has evolved a lot since then. To most people when you say “PSYOPS” they think of Vietnam, and rightly so as here we were starting to use more and more psychological methods. First off this is a very interesting read; http://www.psywarrior.com/VietnamCommanders.htmlAnd for the people who think PSYOPS are no longer used, they are and they’re still recruiting; https://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/special-operations/psyop/psyop-history.html
Vietnam;
The Phoenix program; The program was designed to identify and destroy the Viet Cong via infiltration, torture, capture, counter-terrorism, interrogation, and assassination. The CIA described it as "a set of programs that sought to attack and destroy the political infrastructure of the Viet Cong". The Phoenix Program was premised on the idea that infiltration had required local support from non-combat civilian populations, which were referred to as the "political branch" that had purportedly coordinated the insurgency.
Operation Wandering soul; Now this one is actually one that is pretty fucked up in my book, this was an OP that screwed with their heads on such a level this one should be criminal.
The VC believed at the time that the dead should be buried at home or else the soul was stuck wandering the earth aimlessly, sounds fairly normal if you believe in those things. But then the US was like “they aren’t at home right? What if we play distorted human sounds and zombie like sounds to fuck with them”. This is the gist of what happened
Check this site out for more on OP Wandering soul: http://www.psywarrior.com/wanderingsoul.html
Now to keep this a bit shorter I will give you a couple of operation names here which you can research if you want, they are important in this grander thing but or else this post would turn into another thesis on PSYOPS. Operation CHIEU HOI Operation MOCKINGBIRD (highly unclear of the scope but it does reflect a lot of what we see today in the ways of media manipulation) Operation FIELD GOAL (leaflet drop mission, much like the recent “GAINS” posts as it has the same effect, either you get convinced the squeeze is squoze or you lose morale)
Modern day(desert storm to now)
Gulf war Banknotes; This one is a very good one, as they used banknotes which had some added text to it, sounds innocent enough right?Nope this one was one of the more effective ones they used in desert storm/shield.http://www.psywarrior.com/GulfWarBanknotes.html
Give it a read because it’s too good to just give a small synopsis here.
Command Radio Solo over Iraq Because Iraq was still a technologically lagging country back then they used radio to give out propaganda, again using mainstream media to push their idiology.http://www.psywarrior.com/CommandoSoloIraqScripts.htmlThis page has everything on it, including the scripts they have used at the time.
Some other golf war things to look into:
http://www.psywarrior.com/Iraqleaflinks.html
Compare those to the disinformation we are receiving when it comes to gains and why we should sell.
Operation OBSERVANT COMPASS 2003 initially an op to get Joseph Kony and to end the “lord's resistance army in central afrika.
Toppling of Saddam Hussein statue Arguably the most visible image of the 2003 invasion of Iraq was the toppling of a statue of Saddam Hussein in Firdos Square in central Baghdad. Allegations that the event was staged have been published.
It is claimed it was actually an idea hatched by an Army psychological operations team. Allegations surfaced that not only were the cheering group of people surrounding the statue in fact smaller than they were made out to be, in media depictions, but that also the group were not local to the area and were instead brought in by the military for the specific purpose of watching and lending credence to the pre-planned toppling.
Use of music in interrogation of prisoners. Again this one is one we all know about, using heavy metal on Iraqi prisoners, as they’ve never heard heavy metal this fucks them up beyond belief. this is a more hands on PSYWAR but it's morale based
Pentagon analysts and the mainstream media In 2008, The New York Times exposed how analysts portrayed in the U.S. news media as independent and objective were in fact under the tutelage of the Pentagon.
According to the NYT:
Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that has used those analysts in a campaign to generate favorable news coverage of the administration’s wartime performance
CNN and NPR interns incident In 2000, it came to light that soldiers from the 4th Psychological Operations Group had been interning at the American news networks Cable News Network (CNN) and National Public Radio (NPR) during the late 1990s. The program was an attempt to provide its PSYOP personnel with the expertise developed by the private sector under its "Training with Industry" program.
The program caused concern about the influence these soldiers might have on American news and the programs were terminated.
National Public Radio reported on April 10, 2000:
The U.S. Army's Psychological Operations unit placed interns at CNN and NPR in 1998 and 1999. The placements at CNN were reported in the European press in February of this year and the program was terminated. The NPR placements will be reported this week in TV Guide.
Conclusion:
Am I saying the army or government is involved? No What I am saying is that most of the information regarding PSYOPS is publicly available, and anyone with a decent understanding of sociology and psychology can use this to their advantage. And I’m sure that not everyone who was in PSYOPS at one point or another, would stay there forever. These people usually branch out and use their acquired skillset and use it on the open market to get some big bucks. And while there are laws forbidding the U.S. government to use misinformation/PSYOPS on their own people, there are none for corporations, so they can still implement this. What you can see here is a fairly simple pattern and Modus Operandi. Just translate it to modern times.
-TV and Radio have been used to spread doubt about “is this over or not”.-They use twitter as an outlet showing “experts” who say we are stupid bad or nihilists, this is bait don't take it ok?
-Leaflets have been updated for the modern day, “LOOK AT MAH GAINS” “LOOK IVE SOLD SO SHOULD YOU AT AN ALL TIME LOW”, pictures are all we need instead of leaflets now. Why sell for losses? If you believed in the stock then believe in it now, even Mark Cuban said “if you can afford to hold, hold. That’s what I would do.”
Infiltration and seed Fear Uncertainty and Doubt. Make people lose faith in the cause they are in.We have seen this with bots, and real people who are suddenly in the WSB group and other groups, but it’s funny how it’s mostly concentrated on WSB no ?We have seen other members talking to people on Webull asking if they’re getting paid and they flat out said yes 20 bucks for every post with minimally 3 interactions.When those naysayers get caught on reddit and pointed out suddenly they do an account wipe (seen this at least 5 times myself and seen others post about this).
Control the narrative
This is the most important one can do, if you control the narrative you control the way people think interact etc Since a week or so WSB has become very negative about something they were rallying behind for months, like on the flip of a dime.
New mods instated, old ones removed
And suddenly all the positive things about GME are suddenly gone. u/zjz has been removed out of the blue while being one of the better mods on there.
Right now they are controlling the narrative and spreading “fake news” I fucking hate Donny but I’m ashamed to admit that he might have been right about the entire fake news idea. Because look at the news media; Gme craziness they will crash the market GME craze over now silver Silver now Uranium They all went broke etc etc. EVERYTHING BACK TO NORMAL PLZ DONT LOOK
But if you look at multiple sources…. The shorts are not covered at all The Short ladder attacks (which we can just call ladder attacks at this point) keep going day in day out because we are not selling and they keep shorting it.
Take the facts that you can check yourself. Cross check over and over and over, you will see automatically which ones are correct (if a 100 say the outcome is 120 and 20 say they’re at 50 look at the credibility of those people giving the information).Do your DD, cross check with the DD of other members (this is most likely why WSB removed these)As this is the most powerful one, who is on board who does what why do they do it etc etc.
Normally the announcement that Cohen,fils-aime, Francis, Durkin AND Kruger would impact the stock in a very positive manor, yet the stock went down 20% that day
Compare your findings with the Median of when something like that happens normally the stock shoots up, you can find what’s actually happening and what is being pushed on you.
Like: people have already sold out their shares (while the data shows otherwise https://www.reddit.com/r/GME/comments/lejf39/good_news_apes_are_holding_numbers_are_out_apes/ )My conclusion is that there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes to keep us infighting and divided, as long as we all keep positive we can actually come out on top of this.
Make no mistake gentlemen we are at war. And half the war is a war of hearts and minds
Capture their minds and their hearts and souls will follow

Critical analysis of a Comic book
During my search for books and articles to aid my practice-based research, I came across the text “Critical Approaches to Comics: Theories and Methods”. This book offers a look into the critical analysis of books and the theories and methods their authors employ. It focuses on four essential aspects of a graphic novel/comic which are: Form, Content, Production, and Reception. In each of these parts, contributors with comic criticism expertise discuss their methods of analysis and put into practice these methods on selected comics or graphic novels.
It is an insightful book and going through it made me understand different ways a comic could be analyzed and further understood. I had recently purchased a comic book called X-Men Red (Fig. 01) and wanted to try out the procedures that some critics had employed in their analysis.
Peter Coogan in Chapter 15 Genre: Reconstructing the Superhero in All Star Superman, discusses the superhero genre and its characteristics. He offers a guide towards analyzing the superhero comic book and its context. His procedures entail multiple readings to properly critically analyze.
First reading: Familiarize yourself with the events and characters of the story.
Second reading: engage with the text at a deeper level, note the conventions (heroes, villains, love interests, etc.). Note how are they used; seriously or comically or problematically? Observe structural pairs (events, characters, icons, and settings) that reflect and comment on each other.
Third reading: attend to the sequential artistry of the comic book.
After these three, the analyst should assemble their notes and try to identify patterns in the story, using conventions, and the sequential artistry that leads to discovering the thematic concerns of the authors.
He mentions that superhero comics are usually intertextual in that they reference other texts and those should be watched out for. He also says to consider the general tendencies of comic books produced at the time the text you are analyzing was published.
Lastly, it should be noted how the characters represent oppositional attitudes (both semantically and syntactically) and how these oppositions are mediated. Then determine what you have to say about the story and how the text supports and reveals the points you want to affect.
(Smith and Duncan, 2012)

After three readings and making notes, I assembled this analysis on two chapters of X-Men Red (1 and 2).
The comic starts with a one-page introduction of Jean Grey back into the comic universe, back from the dead. It’s a sequel to her actual resurrection chapter, but this first page helps bring the reader to speed with synoptic text and imagery (Fig.02). “I was the Phoenix”, “I burned so brightly”, “And then I was dead”, “And everything was dark”, “I’m alive again”. She is pictured in the last panel of the page recollecting this and reflecting on the events straight after her resurrection.
Jean’s death as the Phoenix is a famous story in the X-Men universe, and just last year, a second live-action movie adaptation was released in theaters worldwide. The first was released in 2006 and there have been many adaptations in comics and animated programs over the decades since the story of her death was first introduced in 1980.

Fig. 02- Excerpt from Taylor, T., Alixe, P., Lee, S., Kirby, J. and Asrar, M., 2018. “X-Men Red - The Hate Machine”. New York: Marvel Worldwide.
From the first page to the following pages of this chapter, Jean acts as the narrator of the events that happened just before she died, and after she came back to life. This is done through green text boxes in the chapter. She catches up with the rest of the X-Men team, and we watch her move from here with her blue-skinned teammate Kurt, to another setting where we get the first glimpse of intolerance towards mutants that will be the focus of this story. Kurt is the target of discrimination by a passer-by and through this, we also get to see a glimpse of Jean Grey’s strength as she deals with this situation. It is revealed throughout the book that Jean can use her powers to its extent without fear of the Phoenix entity taking hold. The extent is yet unknown to her, but she knows she was being held back before.
This theme of intolerance towards mutants (people with abnormal abilities and sometimes appearances) is a topic frequently explored by the X-Men franchise more popularly and taken more seriously compared to any other comic in the superhero genre in my opinion. The seriousness is similarly conveyed in this comic book.
There are similarities in the discrimination mutants face with what minorities in our real world go through. In this instance with Kurt and Jean, it is indirectly shown that even though they are both mutants; Kurt is singled out by a normal white-passing man because he outwardly presents to be different with his blue skin and long tail while Jean is overlooked because she appears like a normal human. Likewise, in the real world, the more obvious your difference is, the more bigotry you are likely to face. Darker skin, non-Eurocentric features, gender-queer appearances, disabilities, etc.
Tumblr media
Fig. 03-  Excerpt from Taylor, T., Alixe, P., Lee, S., Kirby, J. and Asrar, M., 2018. “X-Men Red - The Hate Machine”. New York: Marvel Worldwide.
It is obvious Kurt faces this all the time, and he seems to brush it off, but Jean is coming back into this world as sort of fresh-eyed and is appalled the hatred has become more emboldened since she had been gone. It is an added effect she is a mind-reader and reveals the hateful man is scared and does not understand half of the things he professes to hate, which is a common belief about bigots. She also alludes he is among the infamous internet trolls that write bile to strangers from the anonymity and safety of his room. It is fair to say that the “internet troll” in recent times is one of the most prominent social bullies. This man is a clear representative of today’s social and digital hate culture
The first chapter concludes by panning back to the image of Jean in the setting of the first page’s panel, narrating the story of her coming back to life and what she has faced so far. It is from here and the following chapters that the story moves into the present. Jean says that with her new life she will ensure to change this hateful world.
The art of this chapter is a bit unusual to me. It tends to be abrasive. I haven’t paid much attention to western comics recently so that might be a factor in my unease. The artist Pascal Alixe uses short dark lines that don’t flow together for shading and this gives the character’s faces and bodies a rough appearance. The art also doesn’t follow the regular pin-up styles for female characters that comics are famous for. They appear stockier and more muscular than the typical comic representation which, realistically, makes sense for the jobs they take on.
In chapter 2, since Jean has been revealed to be a strong mutant, and we are following her quest to save the world, it is curious to witness how she goes about it. A fascinating way she does this is by using her telepathy to link the brilliant minds of others to solve a specific problem. She does this when she invites distinguished thinkers from all over the world for a meeting and links their minds with her powers to develop an idea to make the world better. She pulls a similar feat later in the comic when she uses Black Panther’s neurological knowledge and the powers of Trinary, a new teammate, to remove an item from a person’s brain. Doing this passes across the message that complicated problems can be solved by bringing together the skills and talents of different people. A telepath might not be realistic, but someone with empathy and good interpersonal skills may achieve this.
In a United Nations meeting, Jean pleaded her case to the world ambassadors. Referencing Professor Xavier’s intent for ‘mutantkind’ – who believed mutants could win normal humans over by being heroes when needed and being invisible when not – she says mutants should not need to be heroes for acceptance. This is a fascinating sentiment as she (or rather the author) could be referencing other superheroes in the superhero genre and the terms of being accepted. This calls upon the intertextuality of the superhero genre. Superman, Spiderman, and other heroes with powers have often had complications with public acceptance until they proved they are useful to society by using those superhuman powers to save their citizens. This also translates to real-world issues. For example, how black people often need to be exceptional before they are thought of separately from stereotypes.
In an examination into ‘homo-normativity’ in children’s literature, Lester (2013) posits that in most queer literature for children, there is an emphasis on the queer or gender non-conforming character to earn approval as opposed to being entitled to it. She states in the article that “This motif of having to prove oneself means the main characters are accepted only after those around them learn to appreciate their differences, the implication being that there is ultimately something unacceptable about gender nonconformity for which young male characters must compensate”… “These cases of privileging individual exceptionalism as the only way of gaining acceptance still maintain that gender nonconformity is unacceptable and should be avoided”.
Tumblr media
Fig. 04 -  Excerpt from Taylor, T., Alixe, P., Lee, S., Kirby, J. and Asrar, M., 2018. “X-Men Red - The Hate Machine”. New York: Marvel Worldwide.
Unfortunately, this chapter ends with Jean being framed for the murder of an attending ambassador by the villain of the story, Cassandra Nova. Even though Jean had made some progress during the meeting, the situation has now become worse than before as it is publicly witnessed a mutant has murdered someone that appeared to have opposed her. Before the frame job, a message from Nova was passed to Jean informing her that she had upset the status quo with her actions and would face the consequences. Taking this back to the real world, this alludes to what many social activists and minorities discern, which is that systems have been put in place to ensure that the oppressed remain oppressed for the benefit of the oppressors.
In the subsequent chapters, the story develops further; however, it is noticeably told from an intriguing point of view. More common superhero stories find their heroes playing a more passive role. They live their lives until an accident happens nearby or a super-villain wants to take over the world or rob a bank before they act. In X-Men Red, Jean could have waited for the anti-mutant tensions to rise and actual conflict to ensue before she acted, but she takes on an assertive role and is seeking to achieve a goal and is now being thwarted by the villains.
I researched on remarks from the author, Tom Taylor, about the comic, and he states “this book is Jean Grey coming back to life, but not coming back to the life she left behind. She doesn't want to come back to that life either. She's seen that the world has moved on. It's changed and she doesn't like everything she's seen. She's very empathetic and she feels so much of what's going on around her that she wants to make an actual change to the world. Not just for ‘mutantkind’ or humanity, but for everybody”. He doesn’t out-rightly mention the subliminal social commentary and that is likely because it speaks for itself and is not heavily nuanced.
I find this book pertinent to current times and it is thought-provoking without losing too much on the entertainment factor. As a consumer of superhero entertainment, it is usually difficult for me to grasp how a really powerful protagonist can lead an engaging story, but when faced with the seemingly insurmountable problem of bigotry, discrimination, and changing the hearts of people, it is a worthy challenge and I can’t wait to see how it culminates.
This has been an insightful task for me and the text that assisted my analysis has expanded my outlook on comics and the different facets of it that I never paid attention to. This will undoubtedly help me in my practice to be more intentional about the choices I make in the comics I create in the future.

A FFXVxover fanfic Idea I need help brainstorming on....
I’ve had this idea in my head for a while, and me @operagoose, @tevlyn-tauly, and a few others on our discord chats have been helping me flesh this out, unfortunately I work full time now and haven’t been able to brain storm with my friends much anymore because we are in different parts of the world and I can’t always talk with them because of the time difference, so I’m ganna post the ideas on here, and maybe see if I can get some help writing this because I can’t write stories for crap but I can bounce ideas massively!
And I wanted to ask @ertrunkenerwassergeist and @secret-engima or anyone else really, if they wouldn’t mind helping? I don’t mind sharing the ideas! I haven’t thought of how that would help yet because of universe lore but I figured it would be fun and even ideas can trigger other ideas! Specially when Eos lore is involved in this!
Basically the fanfic idea is for a FFXV&HP cover where the boys go to hogwarts, but it makes sense. And it’s all because of a special little curtain/portal in the department of mysteries and the archeological digs going on in Lucis that’s barely mentioned in the series.... and the lore gets very deep and even explains where magic came from in the HP world and why it’s only concentrated in some areas and why it’s not longer as prevalent in Eos and how it evolved with each world! Along with many other things which I will need to tweek still....
I’ll make another post here soon, I need to gather what we already talked about and post it up here, but having advice on how to write it would be great too!
But here is what I’ve written so far, it’s very bare bones and I didn’t even get to some of the double checking sources wise or even naming some characters yet, let alone spell checking it... and a lot of it is just notes of what happened with no conversations....sooooooo..... enjoy!
//——————————\\
It seemed like any other normal day so far. Dusty rooms here, dusty rooms there, dust dust everywhere! (Change to describe the department of mysteries and the poor sap who does not get paid enough for this, and walking into the veil room).
And then it happened.
A body came stumbling out of the Veil.
The veil of death. The veil of no return. The veil where any man went into came out of (fix to something better).
(Insert wizard name here) just stood there, flabbergasted.
The man that fell out of the viel was odd to say the least.
Black and strange looking clothes, even stranger tattoos, and let’s not forget the ‘interesting’ braided haircut/style... ...though he will say the muggles has had some interesting styles recently (80’s style ftw lol) but this didn’t seem to be a muggle....could it? This is the department of mysteries, so deep full of magic a muggle could never be able to get in! But muggles have done some strange things before...gotten into places they where never meant to be...
He didn’t know what to do l, he just stood there and stared as the man stood up from the floor and patted himself off before he finally noticed that he was not where he thought he was. “How the heck....?” Mumbles the strange man before he turned and noticed him. “Hey! Buddy! Mind telling me where I am at?”
He didn’t know what to do. This wasn’t in the manual, this veil has been here for hundreds if not thousands of years and something like this never happened before.
So he panicked, and sent a stunning spell to the poor sap before running and sounding the alarms, never noticing the other head sticking out of the veil confused as he ran away.
————
Nyx (with head sticking out of the portal) watched as the strangely dressed man ran away, his friend, Libertus on the floor, looking like he was frozen in place, he walked into the room the rest of the way and waved his hand in his friends face as he poked and prodded him, he was still breathing, so that was good, but what was that red flash of light? Why did his friend look as stiff as a board? And this place, it’s obvious that they weren’t in Eos anymore, let alone the citadel undergrounds.
When they were first assigned to this job to guard the archeologists as a punishment, nothing could possibly of happened besides extreme bouts of boredom....but trouble does love to follow his little group, so he’s not as surprised as he would be that some thing this weird would happen.
Speaking of, this only happened because they were goofing around looking and prodding at the weird arch with curtains, light, and floating smoke. Sure, they were getting yelled at by the archeologists in the process, be he couldn’t resist just sticking his foot out as Libertus was walking towards it.
It was meant to be a small prank! How was he supposed to know Libertus would fall thru it and ‘not’ come out the other side!
So, he did the only sensible thing. And stuck his head thru the veil to look for his friend, and when he did, he saw a bright flash of red light, his friend fall to the floor, and an oddly dressed man running away.
What did their perchant (?????? Is this the right word I want????wtf???) for trouble get them into this time...he muttered this time as he leaned over to poke Libertus...he had no idea....but he really should figure out what happened to his friend....he should probably also let the others know that they are okay...
As he stood up and stretched his body he turned back to the door and stuck his head in to let them know they were okay and that there’s a strange place on the other side, when he heard a loud noise before blacking out.
—————————
When word reached the King, Regis was shocked, what seemed to be a whole ‘nother world was on the other side of that strange arch that was found in a sealed room in the underground of the Citadel.
When he found out what happened to his more, excitable Kingsglaive members he shouldn’t of been surprised that something like this would happen to these particular men.
But It didn’t change the fact that after word reached him of what happened, he rushed to them as fast as he could.
When he got there and crossed the veil, he saw one of his men on the floor, stiff as could be. When he inquired about what happened, he was informed by Nyx that Libertus fell thru the arch like he was pushed and all he saw was a red flash of light before poking his head in.
Hearing that, He was cautious when he crossed that doorway to another world, and good thing he was, after he stepped thru with his magical barrier up, a red beam of light was shot at him. It harmlessly hit his barrier, it was so weak he didn’t even feel it.
And to see a group of shocked men seemingly armed with sticks pointing right at him on the other side, well, he knew to leave up his shield at all times as he addressed them.
(Insert Trolldad Regis talking to them Snarkily about his men being attacked and what ever shall he do and why did they attack them yadda yadda yadda)
(Also insert part about having a game of questions and answers, he asked one and they answer and they ask one and he answers)
(Don’t know when but also put in a part of them doing a type of exchange to learn about each others magic)
(Portion below for later, might have to rewrite to fit it with story.)
What was more interesting is it seems the people on the other side seemed to be teeming with magic! Something so rare for individuals but abundant in their own world. It seems to be more accessible and variable for those on the other side, but more restricted on how much, how powerful, and how they can access it, and last but not least, the amount of the types of spells they have! but it also seems that they have another weakness that doesn’t exist in Eos.... they couldn’t use technology around magic! It was so fascinating to hear about!
—————————
(This part will be about a few months later about Harry and on his side and how Diagonal ally is going all nuts about the discovery of a whole nother world and how a select few are coming over to their world to learn about their magic and a few on their side are going over their to learn about theirs, and about how somehow muggle tech works just fine with magic in their world and is actually somehow powered by it)
\\————————//
And that’s all I have so far, I already know what houses the chocobros are ganna be in, and this happens when Noct is young, just before his back injury, so some things will change history wise, other people will live and get to join the chocobros at a later date (Aranea for example), this portal actually jump starts peace talks around the world (the nifs only do it cause, oh look! Another world full of resources to conqur! The war with Lucis can wait until we learn more!) and like Noct not getting healed by the oracle but in the HP world when he gets attacked so Tenebrae never gets attacked.... still fleshing that part out a bit.
Another thing is Noctis will be underage when he joins hogwarts with Ignis and Gladio, so ages wise Noct will be 8, Ignis will be 10 and Gladio will be the only one of ‘proper age’ but Ignis will be 11 in feb so he gets a pass but Noct they can’t deny cause he’s a prince of a nation and yadda yadda yadda....I’m just stuck still trying to plot on how Prompto gets dragged into this....
Oh! And Cor will be a guard/teacher at this school....I’m sooooooo looking forward to writing 5th year! Cor vs Umbridge... It will be glorious!!!
But yeah! Hope you all enjoyed that plot bunny and maybe will even help me a bit!

Tel Aviv 2019: Straight outta Lithuania to Eurovision with a rampaging mess that gave a lukewarm conclusion
youtube
Oh dear.
When it comes to my country to choose, they’re often chosen to be overlooked by the Eurofan community, especially because of our insanely long procedure of choosing, that would often cause everyone to hear the songs live more times than they’re supposed to. And it seemed to be a similar case this year because while not as long as usual, we still had 7 shows + an additional week break (that allowed me to watch some more Destination Eurovision! Woo!), and a big pile to songs to swim through, usually submitted by all ranges of songwriters who’re willing just to get their names known to the world creditswise (looking at you Ashley Hicklin and co.) and often are paired with our talent show rejects that fade away as soon as they come in if their song and their chances crash out before the final (see Germantė Kinderytė - she didn’t make it to the lives of The Voice Lithuania, had a killer song though that didn’t make it to the semis thanks for the jury annihilating her pointswise TWICE and only ended up lucky the televoters’ 10 was enough to get her through. Another example: Benas Malakauskas, who got lucky to be on the selection for two years in a row, but did not go beyond the AUDITIONS in said talent show! Yet progressed to the second round at farthest both of his years). And even then, you’re never sure if these songs ARE even on the lineup. Last year we had angry Erica Jennings pulling her song out of the comp just because of having to hear the juries critique others so abrasively (at least abrasively I guess?) one show in, but then it suddenly re-emerged back, but instead sung by Monika Marija - fresh off her The Voice Lithuania victory. This year we had some names pulling off for no reason, some names pulling for A reason (like Sasha Song who couldn’t turn up for the live recording of Heat 4 because of his song not sounding the best way possible, and was fined for it lol), and some names being added last minute or even changed unexpectedly (Tomas Sinickis, you heard of him? Now he underwent by Tommy Modric... yes the footballer Modric). Which is as crazy as MIIIIHAAAAIIIII deciding not to compete in the Romanian NF because “it’s all rigged and me a tryhard won’t feel too safe enough to finally win on this one” oh boo-hoo, think of the kids who never liked your sorry ass anyway. And think of the kids in general before showcasing your half-naked or mostly-naked body in front of them.
Excuse me for my long ass paragraph number 1, BUT we were actually so dang dramatic this year that I cannot contain myself without letting y'all know why this NF deserved a much better winner to come out of it rather than THAT that actually came to be. I'm a native so I know every single detail. So if ya wanna know why exactly I'm underwhelmed, read 'em up. If you wanna know that I'm just underwhelmed, just skip ahead to the review, idc. Did you make your choice? Well then. Let's delve into the details:
• The first clear competitor, Monika Marija, releases a song that people really want to see in the selection but she assures everyone it’s not THE song. Then she shows her other one, and people honestly want the first one back, but grow to adapt to it.
• Lineup reveal happens with her in it, wbk. Along with some other interesting names like Jurgis Didžiulis (off InCulto), Jurgis Brūzga and etc.
• First show is filmed and broadcasted as normal. But, after the broadcast, a pissed-off parent is mad at his son’s result on Facebook (and the result seemed fair enough to me actually despite liking the song because it’s such a second-hand NF tier entry that isn’t meant to last that I’d even see fizzle out in... A Dal for example).
• Also a minor lulz related to one contestant’s song lyrics sounding like Russian swearwords (you know the ones the kids are yelling on CS:GO) but that was fixed
• Lineup changes that include Sasha Song, the second-most-recent X Factor Lithuania season winners at the time 120 (yep that’s the band’s name) and some other guy who came and went last minute without a word from him back as to why lol. (As well as one of the lost starlets of 2018, Emilija Valiukevičiūtė, was initially announced in the first lineup reveal but fizzled out by Heat 4 as well.)
• And it turns out Monika Marija chose both of her latest releases (including the first one she said she won’t enter) to participate because her fans want it so and she felt like it, although fans were more attached to the 1st one she entered.
• Jurgis Didžiulis brings Erica Jennings with him - yep, the same lady who withdrew because of the jury has grew some thick skin over a year and joined the lineup too. Among other things.
• Second show had a major televoting issue that affected the scores massively (basically only a few hundred votes were missing lol), and had the issue affected any of the nonqualifiers enough for them to qualify, they’d be added to the semis as a wildcard. So naturally, someone of the NQs complained about it BUT it turned out it did not affect anyone anyway. Another act got pissed for being mistreated by juries too by the way.
• Sasha Song withdraws last minute for reasons above, and his fine is 2000 euros. Well, now you have to know that if you, fellow Lithuanian, want into Eurovizijos, you need to be a bit rich to accept circumstances like these, otherwise you’re totally fucked.
• Heat 3 happens as normal BUT Heat 4 brings in some fire as it turns out that one of the contestants’ stepfather was offering his company’s services (like, those outside children play parks’ assets) for televotes to her dear stepdaughter’s song, with her EVEN NOT SEEING ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. LRT, as clever as they are, decide to null her televotes in protest. Shame tho as the song was good, and way better Laurell Barker submission than the ones she got on ESC this year.
• One contestant, Alen Chicco (also from X Factor Lithuania, may or may not even be from the same season that was won by 120), causes a bit of controversy by having a black man on his performance
• During the semi stage, Monika Marija asks her fans not to vote for the 1st song she submitted to the selection, but rather support her 2nd song that won the semi comfortably, way after the folks were attached to her 1st song already and claiming it’s better for Eurovision (no it’s not), but it backfires spectacularly when the jury has enough guts to make her qualify with it, even if the televote for it was rather low.
• But before semi 2 happened and Monika Marija sang her weaker song, a contestant with the name of Migloko resorts to middle-finger the audience during her performance for no reason in semi 1.
• Monika Marija succesfully goes on to withdraw one of her songs (the one from semi 2) just to not split her fanbase even further when it comes to the final, therefore not lose. Also has to pay a fine of 2000 perhaps.
• Jurijus Veklenko, which was one of the front-runners along Monika Marija, was accused of having his song published on Soundcloud a year too early, but as a demo version, therefore not commercially viable enough for ESC rules. Later he was let off easy by LRT, but decided that EBU should investigate and report if they think it’s not fine, but if he was allowed to compete with that, he was possibly not in danger afterall.
• And since Monika Marija has got only 1 song, her final spot she got with that other song was given up for the aforementioned Alen Chicco.
• Finally, Monika Marija was still THE front runner of all this, having a sizeable amount of a fanbase enough to support her, even more so than the eventual winner... yes, she did happen not to win in the end. U mad?
And even if Monika Marija would have honestly been an anticlimactic winner, this next guy is even more so, because although shocking, his song is pretty much by-the-numbers Eurovision NF pop you’re gonna get, although not as cheap as the one written by constant NF failures that submit their stuff for countries like Moldova, Belarus, Romania and Malta (that until Malta ditched their NF). And the one that ended up winning is the said person whose song was uploaded a year too early as a demo - Jurijus Veklenko, but for now, he’s pretty much needed to be addressed as Jurijus. No wait, he’s back to being Jurijus Veklenko, but he dropped the “us” from his name, that’s odd. (By the way, he’s the only ounce of Ukraine you’ll ever have this year - his father is of that nationality, hence why the ever-so-Slavic Veklenko surname)
“Run with the Lions” is the song name, and for a title as anthemic as this, the song... not so much. Like I said, it’s pop, and it’s good that it’s pop, but it’s just pop. I doubt that Jurijus’s songwriter team did anything to distinguish the demo from its final product, hence why it was so easily autodetected somehow. Like, the structure is there, the lyrics are there (but what even ARE they? “if you wanna see, just open your eyes”?? “if you want a voice, just open your mouth”????), but where’s the depth, man? I really felt like I needed more of this song, especially in the choruses. Like, some additional background instruments like strings wouldn’t have hurt? In fact, this song has a slight revamp (I’m saying “slight” because no marginal changes had been done) that adds up some acoustics in the background of the 2nd verse and only changes one line (”there’s no need to be afraid” now is “you don’t have to be afraid”. Wow, revolutionary. What about “You don’t got to hide away”?? Why repeating “You don’t” twice in the prechorus???!!!... ooh I’ll be here all day if I only talked about nitpicks)... and it yet still feels too little. Thankfully the choruses have someone shouting something like “huh huh hoo” synthetically to liven it up somehow.
Yet somehow, out of nowhere, I admit liking this? Our boi is capable of singing live - both high and low; his voice and the song fit in delightfully with each other; and while basic, the melody is pleasant, non-offensive, non-ear-grating... perhaps the problem of it all is that it’s too inoffensive? Something that flows away in the wind and passes you by without you knowing. Something that you’re told that it’s not background filler and you were just not paying attention to the actual music that was playing. Something so algorithmic, you’re easily able to make your ears cancel it out as it were just some sort of white noise!
Yeah, I don't think I want to describe us all that much. It's a pretty okay pop song, it's nothing groundbreaking (bar the message of being free to do all you can do), I enjoy the sound of it, it doesn't annoy me, I can fully be down to supporting Jurijus and his voice. Too bad it's in a year AND a semi where MoR pop songs DON'T dominate - we're way past those ages. To stand out, it needs to be anthemic, it needs to have a stage presence, it truly needs some X factor, and our staging nor our song offers it. And guess what, various other people are still mourning over the loss of Monika Marija, which I find perfectly reasonable, but who would have to lend us their final spot instead if she won? Armenia? Romania? Denmark? So many questions, so little time left to answer them all.
Right now I will just conclude with me saying that I like this. It's inoffensiveness is pleasant, and in any other year we'd be the perfect filler songs for the final, like we were in the past. Cool cool.
Approval factor: Anything that will make me forget how much of my nerves did I waste over stanning someone in our selection while knowing that Ieva will win is a good noodle in my book. Jurijus wasn’t exactly one of my favourites (you’ll see why when you hit the unfortunately long NF corner section), but that’s perfectly fine, seeing that I can finally be a proud supporter of my own country’s song.
Follow-up factor: we're a completely and utterly random nation, sending anything our juries found amusing the most at the time. So don't bother about follow up consistency every being good or bad. We're just going with our own flow and... that's basically it. Though we could, on an occasion, do better with picking songs, that's for sure. And maybe finally we will not have a song that's littered with "oh oh oh, yeah yeah yeah" kind of sounds... like seriously, "Run with the Lions" has a bridge that mostly consists of "ooooooohhhhhhh" and then one actually non-interjective line at the end. (At least in Tel Aviv you'll be hearing the backings murmuring "run with the, run with the, run with the lions" during it, and that's something.) I love it that we never change in our random tactics, I'd just love it more to see some actual change in the song quality, y'know? THEN will it be a good follow-up.
Qualification factor: I’m so devastated at saying this, but foreigners say that we’re probably going down to deat meat levels this year. But I still have hope in us qualifying. Believe it or not, the people out there still don’t buy into the Lithuanian diaspora power, and genuinely believe that our harmless tune is chanceless. I only understand that it cannot work its magic when we send something risqué and incredibly opinion dividing (but most people dislike it anyway), but just look at our results on the years when we were generally received bad when we were just boring. “C’est ma vie” qualified. “Something” qualified. Back when Donny Montell was such an unknown in the Eurovision lore because 2012 was his first year and his song was considered “dated”, he still qualified. See something here? We still can, and WILL, be able to pull through possibly, and I don’t doubt it that diaspora will lap up our mediocre song because Lithuania. Patriotism strong! (Oh and a handful of votes for Jurijus for being so hot.)
NATIONAL FINAL BONUS
I already discussed the Eurovizijos drama in lenghty detail, so expect me not to re-iterate everything down here shortly, but what you need to know off it is that it had every single drama aspect you’d ever want - faulty line-ups, voting frauds, televoting malfunctions, forced plagiarism accusations, too-early-published-song accusations, late entry withdrawals, qualifier replacements, technical difficulties allowing to repeat a performance and some contestants being visibly pissed off by the jury (and to some extent, the overall) results. A total jumble <3 Never change, Lithuania. (except for the godawfully smug-ass HoD, I started to get tired of him AND his bald head doing this to us. It's been 10 years, retire already.)
So it’s better to talk about all the non-dramatic things I liked about our NF this year! From songs to performances, from shits and giggles to something serious - I’m taking you for a hefty ride.
• First and foremost, I actually didn’t mind one of the Monika Marija’s songs? Yeah, “Light On” was a good and polished pop track that has THAT power to get you good, with them strong sublime female vocals. Even if it kind of sounded like an Ikea store version of "Stay with Me" by Sam Smith. Not that there's anything bad with it, but any kind of plagiarism cases have and will always be barred from Eurovision if noticed by the organizers. This is not 100% dead-on ripoff, but there are shades of knock-offery here and there. And it's even a better "Stay with Me", and with a better message - Monika Marija reminisces of that one time she was almost dying herself, but she's here, she's survived, and you musn't hang her off the lifeline. At least it's "Light On" that got all the love in the NF in the end and not the painfully mediocre "Undo" ripoff wailfest "Criminal". It was so slow and plodding and I never got why so many people loved it. If "Undo" was a product, "Criminal" would have been its "made in China" counterpart. Anyway, here's "Light On". And please don't spam me messages with how much this would have been a contender for top 10 over Jurijus. :P In Eurovision it's an added bonus if your faves do well - the fact that they were in Eurovision is the most important thing, and I perfectly understand why do you miss it here on ESC grounds. Just... I'm tired of "MM top 10, Jurijus bottom 3 in semi", okay? Monika Marija can try our NF again. She’s very talented, and there’s a possibility that we’ll see her in ESC in the end anyway. Pave the way for our Polyglot Queen, Eurovision 20xx! ^^

• Now here's for once a cool Lithuanian artist that didn't come from a TV talent show! Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys ("antiquarian teeth of Kashpirovsky") is probably one of the coolest Lithuanian bands that I know - doing absolutely any kind of genre they're pleased with - from folk to rock to ska to acoustic pieces - I admire them for being so diversive! Too bad they entered with one of my lesser favourite tracks in their entire discography - "Mažulė" (one of the many ways to say "baby", as in, trying to call your lover cute, female gender case. Can also mean "baby girl" in this context). I have nothing against this kind of track they thrown in the selection, ska music and Eastern musical elements are gooooooood, plus I finally got to know what is a "forró" that doesn't mean "hot" in Hungarian - it's a music style popular in Brazil! However, the chorus could have at least sounded more "party"-ier. It doesn't really excite me to dance the window-cleaning dance to it. (Oh yeah and do you remember that this song is about a car, not an actual lover? They're basically confessing their love to an automobile. How they're protecting it from vandals, how did they dream of getting the car since young age, how wouldn't they change their car for any other. Romantic, I'd say.) However I am happy for the over 30 year olds that find this song completely and totally amusing when I can't quite seem to. I do say that I like those elements, the brass and all that. It was the only Lithuanian song in the sea of English ones in the final (just like A Dal was, but inverse - almost all songs in Hungarian but one English (and a bit Russian), and that's an achievement. AKD should be proud of themselves for impacting both our nation AND the international viewers which found fun in this! Respect. Maybe they'll win our NF soon if they keep on winning the audiences, or they'll probably GTFO forever. IDK, the latter is more plausible, sadly. They're so unique that they cannot be just a thing for more editions - just one for a try out, and that's enough.

• So, Alen Chicco. What’s so special to have him in the final instead of Monika Marija's weaker entry? Well, he's just a fantabulous persona, unique in every step he takes. And surely I was excited to see him preparing something for Eurovizijos after I read his name on the participants list. And then his entry did come. I wasn't quite sure what to think of "Your Cure" at first but the chorus is a pop beauty I hold up to myself somehow <3 now I find the song nice as a whole, the theatrical-like verses peak my curiousity though the prechoruses feel too drawn out a bit and could have had some big pauses be shortened or removed... yeah. But the most interesting thing is HIS LOOKS <33 his wardrobe and level of expressiveness is vast, I love it how eveything here was different each and every time he performed, and it all was always presented incredibly differently. I admire ONE (1) chameleon
Tumblr media
which Alen Chicco are you today? ✨
• And that's almost basically it I have to show you concerning my faves? Yeah, I definitely had enough of our NF having this many songs too, I almost had no good favourites that made it to the semis and people would care about slightly if they'd be willing to. Nothing I could be excited over, nothing I could be passionate about as I was last year about my fave. Well I did like some qualifiers to semis but I don’t think they are THAT worth y’all’s attention all THAT much... However, I will definitely let you in on two of my personal non-finalist faves. Allow me to introduce the first band whose song is a guilty pleasure of mine only - it's Laimingu Būti Lengva ("it's easy being happy") with "Pasaulio vidury" ("in the middle of the world"). Now, it's not very competitive or anything, in fact the guys looked like hobos on their live performance and one of them was randomly shouting "heeeeyyyyy" a LOT of times, like a random heckler that's supposedly livening(??? is that a word???) up the performance, and they sang disappointingly... but the studio version, man. I dare you to not get hypnotized by the slow electric guitar feel. (You probably won't but idc.) I love it, I love the beats and how trappy but cool they sound on those verses, I love the slow soft rhythm, I definitely love the whole melodic execution, and the vocals actually sound alright on there (mainly thanks to autotune but yeah whatever). I have problems though - with a band like this, I barely see how can I get genuine enjoyment out of this song myself without having to slap myself in the back for admitting to actually like this. So I call it my "guilty pleasure" quite a lot of times. The song's structure is quite interesting, but it's mainly the repetitive verses and choruses smeared across the whole song at random. I get the song's point so much that I hate the band for hammering it into my head all this whole time - the song's protagonist met a red-haired and blue-eyed girl named Isabel in Portugal (the supposed "middle of the world"), they fell in love, that's it. But they emphasize it a lot that the girl was blue-eyed... not even I would if I had to write this song, and *I* have a blue-eyed people bias. The whole package was completely unappealing and with how they showed it it didn’t really look like something that even needs a staging or Eurovision at all, but I still keep this song to myself, and will definitely replay it a lot this summer. Just as much as the song that you'll actually get to watch the performance of down below - it's "Song of My Life" by Soliaris & ForeignSouls. It's cool, funky, catchy, vibey, laidback and summer-fun-infested. I cannot really describe separate parts all that much because all flows in so well. It's a good song to chill out and have a cocktail too. And it features a rap part that doesn't bother me at all! Good one, Soliaris. I didn't like your music back when you did mediocre 00s R'n'B, but you positively surprised me, both by returning to our NFs after like 9 years of absence AND bringing this gem. It didn't need an extreme staging - just some dudes having fun and that's it. And they brought it. It saddens me that these kind of songs don't stand a chance to qualify to the very final in our NF anymore, as they kind of would have in 2012 or so, but I'm still happy they exist. I only have had some issues with the lyrics laying out the words in sentences ("spend with me this beautiful night" bothered me a bit because if you translate it to Lithuanian in the exact same sentencing way, it'd make even more sense than it does to me now), but other than that, I fucking loved "Song of My Life". It might as well be my overall NF winner, haha.
youtube
• Oh and how could I forget Tiramisu??? That's perhaps my biggest discovery of this year. They moved on from utter unknowns to... still unknowns, but more known for the Eurovision fandom that does care about Lithuanian NFs. Here you have an oddly titled song, "The Smell of Your Eyes" (and you thought Safura smelling lipstick was extreme - but to her credit, lipstick DOES have a faint odor, doesn't it?), which is both insane AND original, and insane original is obviously encouraged. And the whole song sounds pretty damn good for a band that no one heard of and that used to do jazzy-ish and inoffensive musical flairs before. Here we have slight influences of folk even! And the violins, too. A generally charming piece that draws you into a pagan forest. Too bad the staging was completely misunderstood - they definitely had to put on some guy with a cheap Iron Man mask to pretend to give the band some intensity... lousy move. It could've looked way better if it were more mysterious and forest-like and had a more enchanting camerawork. And a little more colors than emerald and forest greens, too. The video clip looked way better and more high-budget than the staging came to be. Observe:
Tumblr media
Felt like everything beautiful was stripped of it because the music video could not be repeated on stage. Ah well. The televoters gave them love but the jury did not let them to improve, and down the Bermuda triangle of fallen female violinists from the 2019 season went a lady of the name Rima Tamo, together with Gabriella Laberge and Tilla Török (who did not even appear on stage at that time of need!). Here's a spooky fact for all these 3: female violinists that all featured on songs in E minor, performed 1st in their respective heats/semis, were really loved by televote but hated by the juries, missed out on the next stage of the NF by 1 place. Coincidence? A curse? Tiramisu were obviously disgusted by the jury trashing their staging so they talked about hating them on Facebook. What's worse that they could have actually qualified if they've gotten at least 9 more telepoints that could've pushed them to get 10 televote points in general rather than 8, all thanks to a televote count error that removed large portions of votes. And that way they could have been wildcard qualifiers instead because they would have still gotten 8 televote points with the actual televote numbers, but the organizers of the NF said that if the televote failure would have hurt anyone's place in the final, they would have wildcard-qualified instead. No one did not, so screw it. At least "The Smell of Your Eyes" remains THAT song - lots of folk, lots of violins, lots of effort put into it, and the people actually loved it for that. Just that it's so sad that the jury didn't let them improve overtime... just like Hungarian jury didn't let Leander Kills go further... a shame, really.
• And now, onto the non-entry-events and stuff that happened, besides some actual good jury shade (like the one time at least one juror says that “you wouldn’t win even if all the contestants got sick”, technical errors in the production (thanks to one of them, one of the semifinal acts actually got to perform again... but the televote didn’t give her votes anyway lmao) and the constant reminder of one of our charities which gives tickets to Eurovision for the best disabled person story.. I don’t know where that is but our NF somehow acquired a skit from an Austrian man that’s been exploring stuff in Israel (I think) because of Eurovision this year... and man did I think that this skit was rather... hmmm... middle-ground funny? Slightly too annoying but still kind of alright to look at? It was fun, but certainly odd to find out about that it even exists.
• After feeling so disappointed with Hungarian juries's decisions on the night of February 22nd, I left my room to watch our NF's final on our living room TV, hoping for everything just to end already because I did not expect anything good happening on this final. I haven't even decided to go back to watch A Dal and see AWS reprise their song a little less louder than when they competed last year. And then our NF gave me a complete and utter surprise - The Roop reprising THEIR Eurovizijos 2018 entry. If you've been long enough here on Tumblr to know me, you would probably guess that I'm a big fan of "Yes, I Do" by The Roop, which I wanted to see winning our NF so badly last year, but in the end... you finish the quote so I don't have to. And it's odd because this year I felt the exact similar way with Hungary as with Lithuania last year - I have clear favourites I root for in both of those but deep inside I knew there was gonna be a different winner I only find okay and nothing else. (The difference is that "Az én apám" has grown on me since, "When We're Old" did not at all.) So back to discussing the interval act instead. For this one guest number of the NF's, the song began on a piano, "pretend" played by The Roop's lead singer, and then he got his butt off from the piano chair (unlike Duncan in Tel Aviv), to the microphone stand, and the song continued off sounding like its original version that was sung in last year's NF. I still love this song and even loved that version with piano at the beginning, but why did it not take over the whole song though? Just to not let the audience fall asleep before the Carousel would've? (Yes by the way, we got guest acts from other countries performing on our NF as well! But Carousel were the only ones to have a guest appearance, the other acts were either unchosen or perhaps busy doing Tel Aviv preparations, lol.) Well, good for them. I may or may not still would love The Roop entering and winning our selection someday, if they ever decide to participate again. They could've this year but they did not return, so maybe in 2021? Let this girl dare to dream for once, Lithuania ^_^

• I love when our NF has postcards, no matter at which stage of introduction they are on. In 2016 the postcards were present in every show (the ones for the final were the best), in 2017 they were only introduced in the round 3 of heats (sometime before the semis), in 2018 - from the 2nd round of heats onwards, in 2019 though they were only for the final... what’s the punchline for this paragraph? Oh, there IS none. I just confessed my love for our NF postcards. Just keep scrolling :)
• Okay so I know no one really pays attention to our heats because we have too many of them AND we have too many songs in them, and the eliminated ones always stop mattering to everyone right away. But I'm here to bring you a favourite meme of mine that hailed just from the heats alone: miss RÙTA, who could have done much better during her performance if she didn't constantly look like she's incredibly constipated. I don't know what makes her look like that - the lipstick? the grin? her over-dramatic entry about wordly disasters, "Paradox"? I may never know, but I will let you have a good look at it if you don't want to watch the whole video I linked. Personally, I liked the red staging this song had, and the song wasn't bad, but the singer felt agonizingly nervous and never got the chance to do better, sadly. Oh and look at that sleek tattoo, mmm.
Tumblr media
• Oh and our NF featured a metal song but it’s so formulaic and by the numbers dad metal that I didn’t even support it all that much.... however I’ll let you listen to it if you’d really like. And there's this best alternative song of this year's NF that I've heard that also ended in the semis, and it's way better than Fusedmarc's alternative (despite having some ugly beatboxing skills). Check it out too if you will.
And thankfully, that’s that for another year. I’m getting so awfully tired to compress my own NF even further more, especially with my enthusiasm for the actual quality of this NF going down the shithole with every single heat show coming after each other just like that, with more mediocre songs after more mediocre songs. I’m also openly declaring that I have barely any energy left with continuting these writeups, seeing that there’s too many to go and most of them are STILL undercooked drafts. But I’m tryna pull through. I have another completely completed review underway afterwards - just a few edits here and there on it and I’m done with it, m8s! And then I’m piling up new paragraphs after new paragraphs on other reviews.
So I hope I let you know why do I think that the end result of ours is lukewarm - from a dramatic NF there should have been a slightly dramatic winner tbh, but in the end we got a pop song that only a few people like. Brutal. And with the biggest hopes in my eyes for our success I’d like to finish this off with two words. Sėkmės, Jurijau!
