my biggest pet peeve in fiction is when a character has/gains powers which are the sole motivator propelling them through the story and their “happy ending” is losing said powers. and they’re fine with it

am i the only one who would be absolutely livid if they were given powers beyond anything humans are normally capable of- EVEN IF this had a significant detriment to my body or mind- and then they got taken away?? and everyone acted like it was a good thing?
