When people complain that saying “nothing happened in season 2” is a bad criticism because people technically did things, they are missing the point of that argument.

Saying nothing happened in season 2 of HotD isn’t saying literally nothing happened, it’s saying that this season did not move the plot forward at all. Season 1 left us off on the precipice of war and season 2 ends… on the precipice of war.

Rhaenyra started off wanting vengeance for Luke’s death and ended wanting vengeance for looks death.

Alicent started off feeling powerless that people are scheming behind her back and she ends feeling powerless.

Daemon starts off having proclaimed rhaenyra queen and ends proclaiming her queen.

Characters have died but has that really changed anyone? The greens are over Jaehaery’s death. Corlys is still supporting Rhaenyra after Rhaenys’ death.

The story is spinning its wheels but not moving anywhere.

So yes, nothing did happen in season 2. You can skip the whole season with a sticky note letting you know what changed. Jaehaerys and Rhaenys are dead and Aegon is burned. Onto season 3.
