I always tell myself 'it doesn't need to be perfect; canon is a suggestion!' But then I'm taking notes on canon. I'm rereading the same volume of the light novels for the fifth time and taking physical notes on it. I'm scrubbing fan wikis and online discussion forums to clarify details. At this point I'm not even sure if it's a procrastination method or genuinely information I'll use. Why have I read like 5 different canon spinoffs looking for extra details.
