Hey! Thanks for your really cool blog. I come back to catch up every once in a while!
I have been asking myself if you can recommend any similar blogs / content creators for other ancient languages, like Hittite, Ancient Egyptian, etc.
Hope you have a nice day!
Hello, and thanks for the kind words! I just reblogged a listing from sisterofiris with some potentially interesting blogs for you, but I don't have many recommendations beyond that. The best Hittite blog I know is @sisterofiris' own, whose blog is now archived (but with years of amazing material to look through!)
If anyone has good recommendations for @rhagas of Hittite, Ancient Egyptian, or other ancient language blogs, please reblog with them below!

Wait, y'all are learning ancient languages for reasons other than answering tumblr asks? 😲
How/ why'd you learn cuneiform if you major in Greek? Or do you just learn some just for the asks? Regardless it's really cool, got any tips on learning?
You have no idea how hard I’m laughing at the idea of learning a long-dead script just for the sake of answering Tumblr anons.
Slightly more seriously, allow me to let you in on a secret: you can actually… study… both. Yep. I double majored in Ancient Greek and Mesopotamian studies, and I chose to continue in both fields at MA level. I decided to do this because I’m a language nerd who doesn’t know when to stop I’m particularly interested in the cultural interactions between both areas, and to best understand them, I need solid knowledge of each.
As for tips, see here. You will notice I asked this question when I was just starting out myself, and struggling a lot. It’s been three and a half years since then, and, well, my cuneiform skills are far from perfect, but I can now write Hittite cuneiform almost entirely from memory, and I’m giving a workshop in a school next week - not for the first time. That’s to say that, no matter how hard it may seem at first, it will get better :)
