blackbright stuff + rant for todayyy!!!! happy holidays everybody :))
christmas blackbright . hell yeah
silly doodles for a twitter thing.
ms paint thing i did in 10 minutes based on a song i really really like (luna roja by soda stereo). please listen to it i'm begging youuuu. if you do tell me your thoughts on the tags pleasepleaseple
very quick aziracrow gomens thing . not a fan but felt like sharing you know. whatever man. i might edit it later though
blackbright body hcs andd the little rant!! i've been thinking about them and how i want to interpret their relationship . so i've decided that my drawings will feature an au where bobby was kidnapped and rescued a short time after turnabout for tomorrow. very important warning i need to do research and stuff for this, these are just my initial thoughts on the matter. stuff will probably change.
he and simon reunite, they had worked together 7 years ago on some cases and met again much later a week before bobby's abduction (which was a bit before the events on dual destinies). now that they're meeting once more, feelings are weird and complex.
the phantom has affected them both a lot, the trauma is fresh and simon didn't even get a chance to process his feelings of betrayal before bobby appears again and now he's feeling so many things at once he thinks he might die. they have a slowburn that also goes super quick ? how do i explain it.
after a month or two, they impulsively move in together because they can't stand how lonely their respective houses are. they're pretty much the only ones who can understand each other, they need each other a lot; but they also feel like running away and from the other and hiding forever.
simon needs constant reassurance that bobby is himself and not the phantom; on occasions he can't look at him in the eyes, he feels unsafe with him at times and has to leave and look for other's company and comfort. still, he also wants to cling to bobby and never let him leave again, to know him properly, to learn to love him healthily.
bobby on the other hand feels horribly guilty, responsible for the things the phantom had done and the damage he'd caused simon even before taking his form. the way simon looks at him sometimes makes him feel dangerous, but because of that he needs to be there for simon, to help him heal, to give him all the love he's been deprived of.
they have to work a lot on their problems, attend a lot of therapy and take some time off work, and, slowly but surely, learn to trust and love each other.
aaghdhs whatever these are just sketchy thoughts please don't be mean if you don't like them i will cry a lot and die
same au, three years after aa5 just like in the previous picture because. i like to draw them healed and happy. but i will draw more of their process.
...about that, however, i won't be able to draw on my computer for like two weeks starting this saturday, since i'm going on vacation. i really hope i can buy a new drawing tablet when i come back, tho!
thank you if you read everything <3 wishing you all a happy new year in advance too!

im really normal about them <- lie
#ace attorney#mia fey#diego armando#miego#lorillee.png#THATS RIGHT BABY. AFTER -um . hold on. *checks notes* - SIX MONTHS. LORILLEE IS BACK WITH PHOTOSHOP ART 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥#every now and again i like to put effort into something just to remind everybody that i can actually draw#well i say that but to be honest i put a lot of effort into those ms paint ''diego fey REAL'' doodles#but half of that is just because humans are a . something. to draw. and urban backgrounds are my worst nemesis#and also trying to work with ms paint to like slightly transform things is an incredible pain in the behind#anyways. yeagh 😎👍 behold the power of miego. getting me to actually finish something in photoshop for the first time in months#anyways. ive discovered the secret to getting me to draw stuff on photoshop. prepare yourselves accordingly#what i need to do is sketch & line something in ms paint. and then directly trace it over into photoshop#and then i can go ham#see because the reason i never did this before was because i would sketch things in ms paint#and try to line them in photoshop and it simply Wouldnt Work.#so i had assumed that if i wanted to draw in photoshop id have to sketch in it first. yknow. which i cannot do for some reason#something about the way the pen feels and the . its like the smoothing setting is on even when its on 0 percent. you know. anyways#but with this one i drew mia in ms paint as per usual . and i wanted to mess around with color & light#and i triedddd to do it in ms paint but unfortunately as you can probably imagine. doing stuff like this without layer filters#can get a little difficult. if you know what youre doing its obviously going to be easier but that being said i do not#when i pick colors i am literlaly just wildly guessing 😭🙏 which is fine for more straightforward coloring/shading#but not quite here. which is why i wanted to take a stab at it in the first place#so anyways i was like FINE WHATEVER and tried tracing the lineart in photoshop so i could take a stab at coloring in there#and i was . enlightened. (no pun intended). it WORKS#so anyways . you may actually be able to expect. some photoshop art from me#well ok thats a lie never expect art from me. but we can all dream together#anyways they really are the star-crossed doomed by the narrative romance ever. everything to me

Behind Your Screen — Wally Darling x gn! human! reader
summery: Strange things keep popping up on your computer. Soon you find out it's all because of a strange entity!
tw: some creepy things are alluded to, but it's all vague.
a/n: I had so much fun writing this. Wally is kicking his feet while drawing for you. He is not yandere!!!!
wc: 0.8k
Master List
❥Wally was bored, watching people come and go. They’d check out the website, sometimes look at his little doodles, then leave. It honestly made him sad. Did no one want to be his friend? The messages in the guestbook said otherwise but they didn’t come back.
❥Then you came around. At first, you seemed like the rest. After looking around the website you closed the tab. But then you came back. He didn’t get his hopes up, as others have come back for a second glance too. But this time he couldn’t help but admire you. You were so focused, scrolling and looking through the details of the website.
❥You came back more often, he wasn’t sure why. Who was he to ask questions? He finally got the friend he’s been longing for. It was so lonely where he was after all…
❥He found out that he could leave you little drawings, and it became his favorite pastime! He couldn’t feel more delighted drawing you with him and his friends all hanging out. Oh if only those dreams could be a reality…he didn’t want to think about what happened to his friends. No, not when you’re there to make everything better!
❥When you got the first drawing, you were confused. You didn’t really use ms paint…and you didn’t remember drawing this anyways. Yes, you’ve become enraptured in this rediscovered puppet show called Welcome Home. And yes…you did check out the website, just to see if anything changed…and you may have created fan content for the show…
❥All in all, you decided to pass it off as something you made without remembering. It was a cute drawing. It was you with the cast members on a picnic. You couldn’t help but keep it in a special folder on your desktop.
❥But then another one popped up the next day. The picture was of you and Wally smiling, text over it read ‘You're the absolute most friend’.
❥Your heart dropped. That catchphrase was quite familiar. In fact…that was on one of the valentine’s day artworks for Wally. You quickly booted up the website, just to double check. As you found it, you took a deep breath. Maybe you tiredly drew this one too? I mean…what else could it be? But something in your gut told you that it was someone else. A hacker? Stalker?
❥No, no you're just overthinking this. Little did you know, Wally was watching your reaction with the happiest grin he’s had in such a long time. He hopes his little drawings make you as happy as you make him.
❥This kept happening, but you refused to bring up your concerns since nothing else had happened. Only those strange…I suppose endearing drawings. If anything, it made you even more interested in the wacky children's show. You read more thoroughly through the characters descriptions, and found the concerning hidden messages in parts of the website.
❥All the drawing had one common theme. Wally was always by your side. Didn’t matter what scenario, or who else you were ‘hanging out’ with, he was always there. If the drawings alone didn’t creep you out, the fact that Wally in all the drawings was staring at you, and not drawing you felt unsettling.
❥It all changed when one day your notes app was opened along with another drawing. The picture was of you and Wally hugging, the notes app saying: ‘Do you like hugs, friend?’
❥You slammed your computer shut, fear running through your veins. What the hell was that?
❥Wally’s little felt heart hurt as your face left his view suddenly. Did he come off too strong? He was just excited to get to interact with you in another medium. He got so happy that he couldn’t help but write the first thought that came to mind.
❥Your presence has become a comfort to him. With everything that has happened and is happening…it was nice to look forward to his meetings with you. You seemed like such a nice person. He wished he could be with you…but the thumping that surrounded him reminded him that that would always just be a fantasy.
❥The next time you opened your computer, you felt a little guilty. The notes app was still open, this time it said ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you friend.’ You still felt anxious, but the guilt overpowered that. It wouldn’t hurt to interact…would it? Maybe it’s some weird AI chatbot that…you didn’t know. Just hoped it wasn’t a hacker messing with you.
❥Not sure how you were supposed to interact, you decided to reply back in the notes app. ‘Who are you?’
❥That’s when you learned that Wally was somehow in your computer? Able to access your computer? You weren’t completely sure, he was vague when answering where he was. You felt like you were going a bit crazy…I mean c’mon, the logic made no sense. But a feeling deep in your gut told you this was all real. You weren’t being fooled, you weren’t being hacked, the main character of an old 70’s children show was talking to you.
❥Over time, you two became closer. In fact, you started to find Wally quite charming and cute. He would continue drawing you cute pictures and you would keep him company.
❥If only you two could live in a fairytale, happily ever after…

oh joyous day, my our life now and forever mc, Rena Michou!
Just a bunch of doodles for now I'll do a full body ref and make it purettyy later, maybe… ahh side note i need to learn how to draw tam and qiu qwq something just doesn't look quite right.
and now time to ramble about her: (warning very long)
EDIT: WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME IT SAYS 8W3??? she's supposed to be a 8w7 😭😭😭
She was pretty stand-offish and cold to Tam and Qiu when she first met them, she did not like Qiu at all, from her perspective her Ma's moved her to this town in the middle of nowhere, she accidentally goes into someone's backyard (clearly no way for her to know smh) but she's being the better person and apologising only for him to make fun of her??? Terrible manners. Not only that but he's a show off and has an insufferably smug grin. Not to mention he acts like he knows everything (it's okay when she does it, she's not from a random town in the middle of nowhere).
She still lets him tag along when she goes to find the mystery air plane sender because she's nice like that (how hard was that jeez!) And while Tamarack is loud, she looks a hell of a lot better in comparison to Qiu. Anyway this goes on for a bit with her being annoyed at basically everything he does and tolerating his presence because she's nice (it's because of Tamarack and her Ma). She is however very startled when Qiu gives her the welcome note, she definitely thinks it's a prank or disingenuous, but gosh dang it, he looks so happy she's polite so she'll say thank you.
She starts liking him after the park where they race and she wins, and opposite to all her expectations - because this is something he's been most proud of, he doesn't get upset or annoyed he's even more happy somehow… And that's when she has to accept everything she thought about this guy was wrong.
Some more random stuff about her personality and yeah:
She doesn't get most jokes, and she can't tell teasing apart from being genuinely cruel which is- yeah mostly why she doesn't get along with Qiu at first.
She thrives on the challenge, she's always down to do the riskiest thing for the greatest reward, she likes beating the odds (and proving people wrong).
She places a lot of value on following rules and being polite, two things that have been repeated to her basically her whole life (because she struggled with that growing up), so now she's very opinionated/black and white about it.
She likes listening to rock/alternative music mostly, probably tries picking up the guitar in the future- she'd be bad at it.
She likes strategy and puzzle videogames, absolutely terrible at racing, fighting, and rhythm games.
She's got no problem telling someone no respectfully and doesn't like to compromise at all - but even more she hates other people doing her favours, so she takes the path of least inconvenience.
She really wants to be independent and prove she's responsible and can take care of herself, however she still really respects her Ma
She values getting good grades a lot and she's pretty advanced however her Ma didn't want her to move up grades because of her social development. She is not a big fan of this, probably one of their biggest arguments.
She wasn't exactly bullied persay- but she didn't have any friends before Tam, which is probably in part due to her prickly personality but yeah, not a big fan of people her age.
bonus ms paint scribble because she's so cool !

Do you have any advice for bad artists that don't make fanart and never get notes? I feel so embarrassed and sad posting my original ms paint drawings and pencil doodles on here and tagging them with every relevant thing I can think of ';( how do people who dont tag anything grow the number of people who like their art?
I don't believe there is such a thing as bad artists.
I think getting noticed online has a lot of factors. The most important one is probably appeal. If you create art that appeals to the most amount of people, you get the most attention. If you create art that appeals to a niche, you get attention from that niche of people. Appeal =/= Quality. For example, I probably create art that mostly appeals to furries. People who are repelled by the mere concept of furries aren't going to interact with my art even if I was extremely skilled.
A lot also depends on algorithms. My art was getting 1 like and 1 retweet (that was me retweeting my own art lol) because I didn't know how to satisfy the twitter algorithm. The quality of my art didn't matter whatsoever.
At the end of the day you need to stop paying attention to numbers because you will never be satisfied. You could say this is easy for me to say because I Do get notes now or whatever but people used to not give a fuck about anything I did for years. Now I just draw because I like it and I draw what I enjoy and some people are interested in that and some are not. If you are yourself interested in your own work people will start also paying attention and if they don't it doesn't really matter because you're doing what you enjoy. Some people go unnoticed just because they create something most people don't understand.
A lot of people don't interact with anything they don't find appealing or that doesn't fit the theme of their blog or whatever. People rarely interact with art just for the sake of it unfortunately. And that's not a reflection of yourself or your art. It's just how it is.
Going out of your way and interacting with other people and their art is also important. If you just post into the void and don't interact with other artists or try to build community it will be very difficult for other people to find you. When you interact with others they notice you though obviously don't just talk to people to get them to look at your art. Share stuff you like and uplift others just because. Even if they don't end up doing the same. There is a very prevalent attitude of people not wanting anything to do with artists they see as 'below' their skill level or whatever. It's tough out there for people with art that isn't seen as 'high quality' (whatever that even means). But thats unfortunately just how it is. Other peoples opinion of you isn't a reflection of your worth.
Also I think adding a lot of tags might be a problem and get your posts shadowbanned but I'm not sure...

i like ur art. its great and interesting!! i really like your artstyle and i really like the way u draw hsy, yjh, and kdj. you captured them so well in terms of vibes/character. also i was wondering do u have any advice to improve on drawing anatomy/poses/faces?
wahh thank you so much...!! i feel like im still trying to figure them out in a lot of ways but i do really like ironing out my visual interpretations of them so im really happy to hear if people like what im coming up with
also anon you super activated the part of my brain that cant help but yap about art theory... i spent some time writing as many tips as i could think of. unfortunately i dont think i have the time currently to do a fully illustrated guide, but ill still try to include some visual examples:
[incoming wall of text lol]
ANATOMY:
to preface i think that like 100% of the time you should reference a real life photo for anatomy rather than other artwork or drawn references. the best way to learn the body is by… well, actually looking at the body! but also artwork is informed by a person's own artistic ability/stylization choices/sense of idealism, so while looking at art can help give you an idea on how to break down forms, i think you would be best served observing real life references. i labor on this point because i do think that having over relied on drawn reference material and avoiding photographic references on the basis of not being interested on realism hindered me as a largely self-taught artist as a kid, so i want to encourage live or photographic reference since anatomy is one of the foundations from which everything else is built on. that being the case, all of my doodles i'm doing for this are going to be for the sake of example rather than to strictly say how you should or should not be drawing something
-> when you are doing a study of a photo, just try copying it as best as you can. pay close attention to the natural lines and shapes of the body -- the S-curve shape of the leg, the triangular shape of the forearm, the trapezoid shape of hips/thighs when they sit, and so on. note where the body folds or squishes or pulls; how mass will shift to accommodate a certain position. if a form is hard to visualize, focus on the negative space and carve that out, rather than strictly drawing the positive space.
don't expect to get it perfect the first time. in fact, iterate on it multiple times to build understanding. try doing it to a timer of 15, then 10, then 5 minutes. doing this will force you to have to prioritize the most important shapes. you can help reinforce this by using a thicker brush or a brush with no pen pressure (no joke ms paint works great for this) to force you to be loose and not become preoccupied with details.
-> pinterest is a great resource for finding and compiling photo reference material
-> organic shapes are curved, so embracing/emphasizing that (particularly for the extremities) can help make your drawings look more natural or fluid
POSES: -> it all begins & ends with contrapposto… you've probably heard of the line of action, which is related. if you're offsetting the shoulders & hips, it: makes poses more natural, more dynamic, and helps the pose sort of "draw itself" -- the legs will follow the direction of the hips, and you can use the arms to reinforce the angles
-> context is key. don't ask: what pose should i draw? instead ask: what do i want this character to convey? what does happiness, anger, sadness, and so forth look on this particular character? how do they express that? consider these drawings: these are both ostensibly the same pose, but look at how changing just the shape of the spine recontextualizes it.
for more on pose design i recommend watching Tracer & Pose Design 101 - The Animation of Overwatch by New Frame Plus (i promise this is a genuinely super informative video).
to expand on this, in general, all of the components of a piece (background, composition, pose, etc.) are best considered in conjunction rather than separately. it is difficult to choose a pose and then choose a background because they are missing the context that would make a piece cohesive. when you are planning a drawing, try to begin with your general concept/idea/prompt and then do several thumbnails -- small and quick doodles that should take no longer than 5 minutes each -- developing it: you may find that the pose and bg will naturally fall into place.
-> silhouette: the degree to which you need to push this varies by style but generally speaking the pose needs to be readable; i.e. instantly recognizable. try to keep important elements of the gesture outside of the silhouette. for example, if the character is pointing, keep that arm out of the interior of the body. the same pose can be more or less readable or dynamic depending on where the character is pointed in relation to the viewer
-> exaggeration!! goes along with the previous point. push the pose as much as you can (and what makes sense for your style) to communicate your pose as clearly and as intensely as possible.
FACES: -> i highly recommend the app Handy Art Reference Tool by Belief Engine for all things related to drawing hands/heads/feet. its on both android and ios. it isn't free -- it costs around $3 -- but that is seriously such a small price to pay for the amount of utility you get out of it: the hands models are fully poseable (there's also pose presets), you can rotate the head models however you want, and there is 3-point customizable lighting. it is really helpful for getting those super tricky and hyperspecific head angles that you just can't find a real life reference for. that being said given that there's only a few different head model variants, bear in mind how differences in features can affect what exactly a face will look like in those angles.
-> i still recommend doing studies of real people. as with anything else, learning generalized proportions is important, even if you are going to later on bend or break this depending on style
-> as for my own approach... it kind of depends on the style i'm doing at that particular time. for my paintings (what id consider my main style) i approach a character with a few real-world features in mind and then apply them to the best of my ability. it usually will take a few iterations to land on an interpretation i really like as i try out different things. a lot of the face also gets developed during rendering rather than through my initial sketch too, as i adjust for lighting and correct proportions on the fly
(look how much this image changes between sketch and render lol)
if i were to recommend anything, i think it would be to nail down your most distinct features first -- the ones that will make your character's face recognizable, and could apply regardless of art style. in my case with kim dokja, i knew when i first started drawing him that i wanted to give him a longer face and down-turned eyes. when i decided to do the disco elysium inspired set, in which i was breaking out of my comfort zone by letting go of any idealizations focusing on conveying characterization/making them feel "real", i landed on some more specific traits (defined lower lids/perpetually tired eyes/eyebags(?) the crease there idk how to describe it) which i continue to try to evoke even if im drawing something much more cartoony
(pictured are my first kdj -> disco elysium style -> my post de-style kdj)
as a side note, this very same process changed yjh much more dramatically
(^ that first guy is mad someone else)
those handful of key features will be the thing that you can then take into a simpler style and simplify or exaggerate to whatever degree suits you. you can also play with shape theory (square = sturdy/solid, circle = natural/smooth/welcoming, triangle = energetic/dangerous). shape theory doesn't necessarily need to be so rigid -- you can combine shapes as you please to convey whatever vibe you're going for -- so please think of it as a tool that may help rather than a rigid law you must abide by.
-> expressions: exaggerate them. thats kind of it!! make it big!!! you wanna be able to really feel those emotions. the principles of squash & stretch help here: think of how the muscles move when you, say, open the eyes or mouth really big. as one side of the face stretches open, the other side squashes to accommodate it
even without changing the position of the jaw here, moving the nose and scrunching the eyes will sell the expression
you can also play with squash/stretch to break proportions to sell a feeling more
since expressions are just, well, poses for the face, everything else for poses applies here (and facial expressions & pose should also be considered in tandem). while the term contrapposto itself just refers to the offset of the shoulders & hips, the similar principle of asymmetry also carries here as that will help make the expression a bit more dynamic.
and i think... that's it!! all i can think of at least. i hope it helps anon!!!
#umbrvx.ask#sorry the reply took a minute i have been writing this post since i got the ask im so serious#i tried to determine what advice i could give that would be the most immediately actionable#also sorry its a huge wall of text im a little crazy about learning and discussing art theory . oops (the yapper)

music man cave art
The big music man one on the right here is inaccurate, i feel, since as i've seen, humans in paleolithic art are very simplistic and undetailed for some reason??? Even when One is the main focus they are faceless, which i find interesting since by comparison, the animals are VERY detailed. But i wanted to include a good one of Music Man, so i did
Also, this is the part where i realized i didn't draw enough murder. So I fixed that!! caveman murder!!!! murder time!!!!
dj is the most cattleish, so he's a prime murder target. Sorry, he's really murderable
That being said though, I think the both of them are sapient, but I don't think they know that the other one is sapient. These are all from the Music Man perspective.
Also, the dead music man at the top. I couldn't find anything for any memorial art in paleolithic art, but that is a little... memorial. Not much writing were made yet, so those who died are represented individually by the animals on top. There are far less dead people than there should be for paleolithic times but we're gonna roll with it.
I think they would have a fascination with the glowing mouth that DJ has???? Like, "Hey, that guy has our face, we're similar, but they're big and strong. maybe that mouth is like divine power or something" so they draw their dead with that as they are being taken from this world to the next, and they draw their shamans with that, too.
speaking of the glowing mouth thing, I made a whole seperate thing for the litttle shadow DJMMs, since if these were like in the context of paleolithic art where they are drawing whatever they see - because of the glowing mouth, I feel like there would be a focus on how he looks like at night, where all you can see is the outline of their mouth
I think the DJs would be fascinated by the fact the Music Men can throw shit. The Music man are very human-shape, and we are very good at throwing shit. DJMM, however, is not human shape, and he cannot ball like the Music Men can so I think DJMM art would have a sacred focus on stripes and spears. Specifically, striped spears, to distinguish Cool Sacred spears from their regular dumb spears that're only good for stabbing
They'd both find the minis to be a symbol of unity peace, which i think is extremely funny because the minis are by far the most bloodthirsty and scary ones out of the both of them. but the reason I say they'd find them peaceful is that minis have NO beef with eachother. They are coordinated and while scary its also very admirable.
DJMM was partially inspired by the zebu, i like the dewlap and the hump is very speaker-y.
bonus: the ms paint doodle that inspired me to make this

misc ms paint doodles from tonight ^^
I THINK. my coil looked like this, i know he had cornrows. He's very vivid to me and very distinct, i think i'd need to draw him again because I think his eyes were a little bigger in some way. his ears were also pretty big as well. He also might've had a nick in his eyebrow? unsure.
i remember honestly thinking like, damn, that's just a kid. he looked very young.
additionally! Despite remembering him, and remembering working with him and generally whatever, I ran into the issue of not being able to actually DRAW him and remember him well. It's like, I can see him in my mind, but I can't SEE him to draw him. I see his face enough distinctly but not his face shape (hence why he is. a face and hair on a void LMAO)
Basically what I wanted to do is try writing down things and sit in a more remembering state as I wrote stuff down and let his facial features come naturally to me (as, after the fact, I realize that for some reason my Subspace memories have a lot of distinct memory of facial features as opposed to some other kins where it's hard to get exact face shape and feature right sometimes).
My handwriting is fucking illegible here BUT, IT SAYS: from top left to middle left:
I swear he was a little Chubby? DID NOT LIKE BEING CALLED 'MEDDY.' -He had these teal/brown eyes ----------------------------------- -He reminded me of a deer... -> Gentle face... Doe-ish Meek eyes, unsure of themself.
the right side:
Ponytail He's so young in my memory... as am I (to the right of the Medkit headshot doodle) Nooo (to the left of the me doodle under the Medkit headshot doodle) I can't draw Medkit
-----------------------------------
That's all for tonight!! I thinksies. so . Throws kinfetti in the air and grins really wide!!!

Hello! My name is Moriah and I am a junior in high school. I was wondering if I might be able to get your insight on a few questions I have?
I am in my final years of high school and am starting to think about college but I have no idea what I want to pursue. I know I love art, so for a long time I have been thinking about getting an art major or going to an art school.
I’m reaching out because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ART and I think you are a very talented artist! I have been in love with your art for so long and I am curious and wondering how you are able to fit drawing into your life?
1.) If you are going to college for art, or went to college for art, what is it like? Do you think going to school for art or having an art major is worth it?
2.) how can I fit art into my everyday life? I’m sure you have work and other things to do in your life so how do you balance it out? (I just want to know how you can draw as much as you do!)
3.) do you do art as a hobby or a career? If it is a hobby how to you balance art, work/school, and home life? If it is a career or part-time career is it an alright source of income?
Thank you so much! And sorry if these questions might seem personal. I just want to know how other artist manage to draw and create their work and still have an adult life. Thanks again, and thank you for being a huge inspiration in my life to create the art I love! Your art means so much to me!❤️❤️ ❤️
i am going to CRY this is the sweetest message ever. i'm happy you found your niche and i'm even happier that i could help inspire that!!! i'm not sure if i'm gonna be able to answer all your questions, but i'll try to squeeze in some possibilities where i fall short:
1) growing up i definitely figured i was going to end up in art school because that's what everyone told me i should go into. but as i got older in high school i was kind of panicking cuz i really didn't want to turn my hobby into a job, and i figured out that i wanted to go into education!
but that's just me- my wife is actually going to college for graphic design sometime soon because she loves what she does. if it's something you really enjoy, and that you think you can monetize while still enjoying it, then it's definitely worth it! money is important but you need to put you and your happiness first.
2) to be honest, i haven't had the time or energy to do much art lately (if you look at my post dates you can see how spread out they've been the past year)- but this entirely depends on how you manage your time and your workload. i'm horrific at time management! so that's my problem. BUT, i think sneaking in drawing time in little ways helps a lot, as i tend to sketch small panels of a potential comic or animatic on notebooks and papers while i'm listening to lectures. i've even posted ms paint doodles i've drawn during class
i always have plans for what i'd like to draw once i have the time. it's kind of motivating, but also frustrating, and it's hard to efficiently empty my brain of ideas while still keeping up with everything else. this might be something you'll have to wiggle around once you get settled into a routine each semester!
3) i really wanted art to stay as a hobby for me. the idea of drawing and creating art every day for things i wasn't inspired to do made me really nervous, because what i really wanted was to make fanart and draw my little guys all day lol
if you take anything away from this, i think the most important thing is that if you want to keep art in your life, you will. if you desire having time to make art just for yourself, you'll find time to work that into your life, one way or another- but in order to do that you absolutely need to have a positive mindset about what you're going into, and if you can't find that positivity, maybe it isn't for you
thank you for asking!!! i'm not sure if this'll be any help, but i appreciate the questions <:')
#ask#moriah-doodles#me and my wife are just meesly 19 y/o's#so neither of us have experience working in the art field unfortunately#i wish you luck on your journey though!!!!#art can be so rewarding

You may not be the most braindead chronically online loser I've seen on here, but you're definitely in the top 10. Also I don't know how you think people would pay for your ugly ass low effort commissions, they range from looking like a 12 year old just discovered MS paint to a quarter finished doodle on some math homework
Well anon that's because some of them are quite literally made in MS Paint.
But also,my art is not low effort, I put time and love and joy into most everything I draw. Because I enjoy drawing.
Like yeah they're sloppy and scribbly and they look very unfinished but I like doing it.
Shit, even the MS Paint stuff I enjoy.
Yeah they're not good. But they're fun to make.
I draw mainly for myself. I draw my OCs a lot.
Because I enjoy it. I like what I do.
And I improve!
DOKI DOKI JUMPSCARE.
So uh.
Sorry you don't like my art, anon. And YEAH ffuck it does hurt a bit that no one wants to commission me, but that's ok. Because it doesn't stop me from making art that I enjoy.
Also yes I am chronically online blah blah blah I don't have a job yet and I'm not really trying all that hard to get one yadda yadda. I'm not a loser I'm a jock, I'm not braindead I'm autistic and correct and based and so on and so forth anyway why do you feel the need to hide behind anon or even send hateful shit in the first place? Who does it benefit? Not me, it's not going to make me change my beliefs, and it's certainly not helping you. I mean, you wasted your time seething over some autist online who makes "ugly low effort art" and I took that as an opportunity to show off some of my art.
I think instead of being a cringe hater, you should try being a based music fan. And by that I mean, I want people to listen to my playlist of songs I like immediately.
So yeah. :) :P :3

Love your human designs of the sanses! But i might ask, does Dream has natural straight hair or not? Also, Really like that you gave Ink vitiligo! It's very fitting to his design
AAAAAAAAAAA thank you for the support! :D I'm glad people seem to like the human designs <33
And about Dream's hair, I've actually thought abt a bit it more recently.
One thing I've noticed is that I've made Shattered's hair a looottt more straight than it should've been (at least in the full rendered drawing, it looks more curly in the ms paint doodles) in comparison to the og Dream so that also may caused and added a bit of confusion;;
(the reason for that is because I was going for more wet or greasy looking hair, but still, again, it looks way more straight than it should've, at least in my opinion.)
!!but!! I think that, no, it wouldn't be naturally straight
though I'm having some trouble defining the exact curl type, so I can't really give a more precise direction to people who may wanna know that, he does have curls :D If I do draw my human design of him again, I'll try make it more apparent \o/

Forgot to post these doodles yesterday! I have quite a few character design concepts for OCs laying around, all being worked on slowly before I make them an official OC or before I find a correct role for them in their story they belong to... I wanted to draw some of them properly, and this is it!! (I have more than this, but these are the ones I did draw yesterday.)
Below are explanations for all of them!!
1) The most recent, and simple of them all! I was taking notes in math class... There was a triangle and two long arrows pointing below it at some text. One was red, and the other was blue. I saw that and thought "WOAH THAT'S!! A LITTLE GUY!!!" So I stopped paying attention entirely as I always do in math, and doodled this guy some more. I love them! They need something more on their body and I am afraid the bowtie will make them look too much like Bill Cipher, but... They're cute!
2) An Addison child OC for DPAU! I had an idea for a plot to happen within DPAU, but it'd require a new character... And it's this fella! Since I'm not fully set on including it yet, I won't share the details. I had the idea for their design one day so I scribble down the key parts... And now I finally tried making a full-body proper concept! Liking them so far, though maybe I could make their outfit a bit funkier. Love their hair, though!
3) THE MAN THE LEGEND. He's been in the works for a while!! First as many failed basic shape and idea doodles in class, then inspo boards I never did anything with because I had burnout and art block... To Ms paint doodles which I liked! This design is not the first one, but I feel like I stuck with it too fast. He is very close to the initial vision I had for him, however! Anyways, he's for This Universe Has Lemons, aka whatever Lemmy's universe is. It is after all a weird Lil Lemon Demon kitty hopping thru arious universes, mostly based around Lemon Demon songs. He is based on the "Lime Angel" meme. He's basically a god, and seeing a little kid making portals constantly to hop around for fun is a bit concerning. What If something fucks up? He wants to stop Lemmy, but he couldn't be bothered to do it himself so he makes an angel puppy to get Lemmy. The two become rivals, but in a Tom and Jerry cartoon shenanigans way. To Lemmy, this guy is a mean grown-up and a villain. But he's just doing his job, really. He has several inspos put into his designs!

You guys... I want to clarify something. So many of you reblog my pixel art pieces shocked at how I was able to draw them “square by square”.
(a polished pixel art piece of orym)
I’m sorry to burst your bubble but that’s not how pixel art works, at least not for me. I hope you won’t idolize an unrealistic belief and don’t hold me to an impossible standard. When things like that are said, I start to feel ashamed for “cheating” or “taking short cuts” because I’m not actually living up to your expectation that I’m drawing them square by square. Lines exist in pixel art. The bucket tool exists, so do layers. Even more amazingly, so do dithering brushes. I use procreate on an iPad, not MS paint with my mouse, because this is 2023. I don’t want my art to be appreciated solely for how “difficult” the creation process is—I want it to be appreciated for its content. Intentionally making art inaccessible may be a choice some artists make—and in a sense pixel art is a challenge like that, to limit your shapes and form and colour palette—but that’s what it is: a personal challenge, a stylistic preference. Making art hard can add to its value, but it shouldn’t be the only thing valuable about it, and “hard art” shouldn’t make you think that “easy art” is worth less. There is no easy medium. The amount of awe and ‘THIS IS PIXEL ART?!’ I get in comparison to the silence when I make art in my preferred medium makes me sad that the audience seems to take certain types of art media and styles for granted. There is no easy medium. And, I don’t find pixel art particularly harder than other media. Sure, pixel art style may be more unique, but it certainly isn’t barred from the same advancements in art technology that have developed in other forms of art, and it certainly shouldn’t be appreciated only for its uniqueness.
When people express awe in the “pixel by pixel” process, I get sad thinking they’ll never really know the kind of work that goes into refining a pixel art piece: the meticulous and tedious cleaning of lines (I don’t draw lines pixel by pixel, instead I draw a line and erase pixel by pixel), the overlaying of different dither brushes to create gradients from a limited palette, the block coloring that I do by hand, and the endless revisions I make to capture the feeling I want to convey. None of these are done pixel by pixel as if going left to right, top to bottom, none of these are done square by square like your color-by-numbers, but it doesn’t mean it was quick or easy. To me, my choice of art style doesn’t matter as much as the feelings I want my art to evoke, the impression that I want it to leave on your being, some ineffable part of you that responds without needing to break art down to its technicalities.
I’ve learned over the years that there is no cheating in art. If doing something will improve the look of your piece, and save you time, then that’s a win.
I know a lot of you don’t make art yourselves, and are of the mindset that anything that looks more difficult/time consuming to you than others becomes mysterious, feels cooler than things you think you’re more likely to be able to make yourselves. But I don’t like this view of art as something that is worth more the more untouchable it is. I like to think that art is everywhere, ubiquitous, and something that anybody with soul can make and regularly does make. It just takes the right lens to see the art in your own life for what it is. It’s not so far away. In fact, sometimes the closer to me art is, the more impact it has for me.
(a roughly sketched comic that resembles the doodles of a child)
Art comes from life, art is alive because we are alive, it is not its own mysterious separate thing. I wish more people would appreciate the art that we can make rather than the art that we can’t, and that more people would embrace the art in their lives as opposed to keep it at arms length like it’s something foreign.
Art is not talent. It’s not about what you’re born with or without, familiar or foreign. If society has put up definitions and parameters for what is considered “art”, to the point where you feel it’s impossible for you to make your own, then perhaps we should reexamine the ideals of our society that only sees artistry in perfection. In truth, art is hard work and dedication, and above all, to me it’s choosing to see the beauty in the most mundane things, in things that aren’t conventionally beautiful. That’s why I don’t want my art to be appreciated for how impossible it feels. I want it to be appreciated for all the ways you feel warm and represented and connected and understood by it.
#wow i did not intend to write this much but the more i analyzed why im so uncomfy with pixel art praise the more i realized#this is a much bigger problem than i imagined#disclaimed but i only speak for myself and i do not claim to speak for any other pixel artist or artist or just...anyone else

yayayay yippee (≧◡≦) i love how vibrant & lively your art is, i think my fav pieces are Horse Surgery & hanyuu (even tho i have no idea who that is) but that one wip with the rainbow is also v ery special 2me because it reminds me of my fav kind of weather ^_^ generic Which Program Do You Use question & also which programs have you tried so far? which one would you recommend for someone whose only experience so far wiht digital art has been scribbling in ms paint -_-? on topic, what do you draw with (mouse, phone, drawing tablet, ??) & was it easy for you to get used to digital art? i always get overwhelmed by the amound of different functions available so im not sure where to even start, any advice? which physical art forms do you like / would you like to learn (anything at all, i personally have been getting into air dry clay... well actually ive been using my sisters playdoh but maybe ill purchase smthn fancier :3) & final question how do you come up with poses to draw? your characters (+creatures) seem very animated and i really like that :)
HI okay i guess ill answer these in a list. actually will put it under the cut since i ended up saying a lot (and dw i enjoy being able to talk a lot so thank you!)
-THANK YOU im glad some of my more recent works (in my more current style) are appealing 2 people! like i wanna draw my own way even though i think it gets less notes... the higurashi fanarts (hanyuu and shion) r very memorable pieces to me because its when i started doing the loose sketches with the thin lines and block colors and thats the direction i reallyreally wanted to take my style in. also the rainbow is rian my friend rian
-i draw in paint tool sai! the only program i used before that was sketchbook pro, which i didnt like because the brushes were kind of... blurry/smudgy? sai allows you to zoom in and draw pixel by pixel which is something i like, and i like the way it does its blending. its also just easier for me to understand. i didnt pay for it i think i found some deviantart page that had the link, id have to find it again
-i draw with a wacom intuos tablet! its lasted me... almost 10 years now. ive heard newer ones are poorer quality in terms of at least the nibs needing to be replaced constantly, so idk what the most recommended tablet these days is. ive drawn with my mouse and tbh it caused awful hand pain so i would not recommend this. i draw on my phone with my finger sometimes but i find doing it on my laptop easier, however it is doable once you get used to it
-the way i got into digital art... well. i still have an archive of my earliest art if you wanna see! i was 14 n just drew random shit, often lining over doodles i did on paper and coloring them in. i think esp if youre overwhelmed start with making like throwaway experimental pieces, scribble around, doodle stupid things and color them in with different brushes and see what you enjoy. and then you can just keep the files to yourself if they dont look too good or maybe itll look interesting, it depends i guess haha. the other thing that ive always found helped me was telling myself id draw every day even if it was a little scribble or the tiniest amount of work on a wip bc getting a habit going helped my art a Lot beause it helped me spend more time thinking n focusing on it
more specific advice for sai that i found useful- using clipping groups & the preserve opacity functions are both lifesavers in terms of not spending so much time trying to color in the lines. if you color in a base layer you can just put everything above it as a clipping group and just not worry about it anymore. i also really like using the filters (like multiply) to mess around with the colors a drawing has, though sometimes its more effective to just select a layer/individual color and fuck with the hue/saturation/etc until it looks good. when i color, esp when its not turning out how i wanted to, i rely on shifting colors A LOT. n also mixing colors together using a blending brush and then colorpicking the intermediate color. very useful
-for the most part i stick to uncolored pencil doodles on like, notebook paper (even though i have some fancy supplies X[ one day) but i LOVE making things with clay, wish it was more accessible to do at home. i have a handful of clay animal statues and stuff that i made in my ceramics class in high school. would looove to do more
-because my poses tend to be very pushed/cartoony using references of real people isnt always useful (though obv knowing the basics of anatomy always helps) so in those cases ill use other cartoony art i like as inspiration, i try to see what i like about their poses nd emulate that with my own. sometimes when im struggling ill just do a bunch of studies where i copy art i like to try to get a feel for what im missing. mostly ive realized i like when the pose conveys some level of like, volume and taking up a 3D space (which im still definitely not a master of but bullshitting it can be fun). and i also like to have a balance of curved and angular shapes. sometimes i try to just do a pose that conveys a specific emotion or i just make shit up lol
alsooooo i cant reccomend aimless doodling enough! just random shapes, turning the random shapes into creatures, trying and trying and trying different ways to draw something until you like it, i feel like the things my hand makes when i shut my brain off and just scribble can inspire me as well, and i try to emulate whatever i made by chance while doodling. and if your doodles turn out better in traditional i tend to consider using a photo of a drawing as a way to skip the "preliminary sketch" phase nd drawing a rough sketch over that which i then use for my drawing (or just directly color since i draw very fast/lazy...)
#long answer but i wanted to give good answers to everything!!!#thank you again!!!#and i hope i helped#yayyy talking about art#ask
