idk if you ever said, and i just never saw a post, but what are your favorite moments or scenes from hannibal?
ohhhhh okay. well my favorite episode is savoureux (1x13) and THEE best scene to me ever is that scene back in the hobbs house where will turns around and finally sees hannibal. it's accompanied by my favorite line in the series "i stared at hobbs and the space opposite me assumed the shape of a man filled with dark and swaming flies. and then i scattered them." i think i could write an entire post on that line alone it drives me INSANE.
similarly i really love s2a leading up to yakimono (2x07) especially with it cresting in will and hannibal's first confrontation where will puts a gun back to hannibal's head and hannibal turns the other way. ive written meta on it before but hannibal's submissiveness when we know the threat he posed to beverly who only had her gun alone and then contrasting that to how he plays into it? and then will's look of disgust at the theatrics? god. love that.
OH i forgot but it's later in s2b where they talk about children and both hannibal and will are teary eyed as they discuss abigail and hannibal says he wishes he could give her back to him? that. but also that part in s3b where hannibal tells will he gave him a child and then will gives him the bitchiest death glare ever? asldkjlasfas
i especially love that moment between abigail and will in the end of s1 where will admits to her that he liked killing her dad and abigail says that it feels good and will responds he felt powerful — it's arguably the one moment of truth we see between them that's not fabricated nor is it due to the fact that hannibal is pulling the strings between them and i...oh god...........them clasping each other's hands......
the entire church sequence in the last bit of s3. delicious. but i really love fromage both because of the orchestra but the fact that we get to see hannibal with the shutters come down and even though he's not killing as the chesapeake ripper, it's still so so so so elegant and controlled and so very different from him killing dolarhyde with will at the end where it's just. messy and brute force. in terms of hannibal and will, the entirety of the beginning of mizumono where they're in front of the fireplace and talking and hannibal genuinely looks so warm and human and fragile.........it's. well. it hurts me to look at it for too long.
um. all of rôti and relevés. hugh dancy should have gotten an award for that alone.
but also. you know what's actually my favorite scene? that scene in savoureux where hannibal is driving and it's raining and will graham is sleeping beside him — will who can't sleep and keeps himself from sleeping because he's scared and also his mind is genuinely slipping from him, trusts hannibal to awake him come any terror like a gallant knight. it destroys me. the trust. the intimacy. and hannibal, gazing back at him, like he can't help himself.
