Evaluation
For this project I have been looking at Hallucination and everything that falls under that bracket of hallucinations I have researched scientifically reasons as to why people may hallucinate and also medicinal reasons, traumatic reasons etc. I was passionate about this topic as I’ve stated it is something that fascinates me and that i have experience with. I wanted to express that having hallucinations does not automatically mean that you are mentally unstable of sick , but it can be something wonderful and memorable, which is rather different from how i started my project. This is because after doing research on famous artists, designers, creators i soon realized you can learn a lot from hallucination and you can have good experiences with it which changed my look onto it regardless of my own personal experiences.
All my research was done via the internet where i was also to get any images i required for my work. I done all my experiments in my sketchbook which will be handed in physically. I am happy with the outcome of the dress as I feel I did not have high expectation for it but it turned out as i wanted it to be just with small differences.
In this project I wanted to achieve Mental health awareness in the main form of Hallucinations, my aim for this project was to plan, compile and edit a sketchbook of project work along with a final outcome to explore and clearly show my chosen narrative. I done this by researching some of the causes of hallucinations and how they can impact someone's mental health and the different ways some cultures and communities react to mental health. From this I was able to find inspiration fashion designers who focus on mental health which influenced my designs and illustrations for example my illustration that was inspired by Craig Green. Along with using different verity of skills such as, pattern cutting, CAD, garment construction and print. In addition to deciding on a narrative of Hallucinations I went on to adding research and samples into my sketchbook that related to my concept.
Majority of my samples where from my own time outside of lector hours, this is where I was able to create sample paintings in my sketchbook and samples from weaving hoops and the dissolvable stitching paper also my illustrations. If I managed my time better I would have liked to make digital illustrations, this would have been helpful as it would have enabled me to show a more wide verity of skills and also would have allowed me to have different patterns or pictures on my illustration and show me how my final garment would look as well as a complete design.
For my Personal brief it focuses on ‘Realm’ which questions mental health and religion, I wanted to look into this more which made me come across the ‘BAME’ minority, here I found that facts that people in the BAME minority do not take mental health seriously and this also helped me find Craig Green concept of communalism and religion etc, also another fashion designer by the name of Kerby Jean-Raymond which was a BLM activist as well as an upcoming designer who is known to not be not shy of political topics. My research led me to create illustrations, one illustration had printed lines onto them and the other with two shades of blue on both illustration. This led me into creating samples of D.I.Y dye on clothes to link to Kerby Jean-Raymond which if I done before would have linked yo my final piece. Although I did not completely state the focus of my final piece I feel as though it is justifiable because I was not too sure which direction my project was heading in which I was alright with as I had just started my project.
In terms of practical skills, I’d say I have many ideas but not so good exaction plans for me to farfel the tings I want to do. I say this because, It is evident In my blog that I am capable of researching things to help push my project forward but coming up with sample ideas that help progress my project theme has proven to be rather difficult. I say this because I found It hard to create samples that correctly portray what I wanted. The progress I’ve made with the skills I've been putting to work our my illustrations, weaving and my design skills. I feel this way because from the start of the year until now I would not have been able to design clothing from the top of my head but currently I can say that, that is not longer an issue of mine however there is still room for improvement. Mostly I am happy with my capability of using a sewing machine, as I sewed the fabric together of my dress, i required a bit of assistance with the sleeves as I was making mistakes and had to get them fixed. A weakness of mine would be getting side tracked and distracted and my time management, this is something I'm working on because for this reason its why I’m late or not keeping up with tasks that I should be keeping up with and not able to create all the samples I want to make.
My final piece has links to designers such as Alexandre McQueen and Kerby Jean-Raymond, I say this because my final piece has projected images/patterns onto it and I kept the colour of the dress as white specifically so that the projection can be more noticeable. Although my project does not focus on sustainability my fabrics were ones that can be reused or recycled. I planned on using Organza on my sleeves but soon realized after feeling the fabric it would not accommodate the elasticity i required to be around the arms therefor I settled on using elastic. For the esthetics of my garment I chose to keep it very simply but effective by projecting a colorful sunset coloured picture onto the dress as my final garment I chose tis because no one lese in the class had thought of doing this also because I knew I did not have much time to paint anything or print anything onto my garment. therefore I chose this because I knew it would still be effective with the time I was working with.
Overall, I am content with my work even though I know my work could have been better and more work could have gone into it if I used my time wisely. I have decided to take this module as big learning curb, meaning I have realized after having to retake this module that I am passionate about fashion and need to do more to show that in my work in order to be able to return next semester. I am practicing my sewing skills as I have now got a sewing machine to practice on, I am hoping I’m skills can improve over this summer break before returning so that I can be on the same level as everyone else in my year. I am really happy with my pattern cutting of the sleeves of my dress as I feel those turned out to be the most that resembled my actual designs, I would like to also start practicing more doing more digital illustrations and learn more on garment contraction all things I can start looking into before I return to University.

So that's who Finnick loves, I think. Not his string of fancy lovers in the Capitol. But a poor, mad girl back home.
this is directed to anyone who finds this blog or to me, in the future, reading my old words. i thought concluding this blog with some sort of diagnosis and reflection was good, but, i have more to say. this is the falling action of my character arc.
i would not deny the words i wrote in this blog, the repetitiveness, the anger, the grammar mistakes. i don’t think there is a deeper look into who i have been for about the past three years of my life (circa 2016 to 2019) therefore, i won’t revoke anything i said. it’s bitter and it’s depressing to realize how much time i dedicated to my brain, whether deliberate or not, but its me. i have sometimes been that person, itching to tell secrets and gossip but the secrets contained in this blog, though have constantly clawed at my throat, have never gotten out. this is a picture into a ‘me’ no one knows. i kind of regret my post about betrayal from my mom, because it wasn’t betrayal and it was out of love. i guess whenever i mention my mom, i don’t know if i could uphold that writing. but besides those posts, i believe this is as good it can get.
it seems just a bit tame to say i hated myself because of how reused that phrase is nowadays. i vehemently, furtively, angrily hated myself. it prevented me from trusting myself, trusting others, believing myself, talking to others, pursuing life, engaging in everything outside of my head. i think my condition was unique from the depression i typically acknowledged it as because i felt like i was trapped. i told people how much i loved things; books, characters, movies, tv shows, people, music, art. i said the world was beautiful out loud, and then inside, i said that the world was something that i never deserved. i remember the moments i said this so clearly, which may be why i tear up whenever eponine sings “without me / his world will go on turning / a world that's full of happiness / that I have never known.” granted, i am definitely not a orphaned, poor girl, starving and dying in the french revolution, but you know, parallelism or whatever.
i don’t know where this horror came from. i think it was a mix of social media, personal (social?) pressures, parenting (as is, like, everything) but i don’t blame anything. it was not in my nature or in my disorder’s nature to blame anything.
i don’t regret the struggle i went through. it is part of me, my personality, to characterize myself inferior because of selflessness. it takes strength to even put kind words onto myself. it takes strength to admit it takes strength, as well. but it’s out there (which is much more than what i could do a year or two ago). this thing is not going to go away and it is going to be a part of every single thing i ever do but it’s okay. this is my journey and this is my life, i will figure it out.
i found what i believe i lost. a purpose, an appreciation for something. horror and fear and depression is a lack of autonomy and to combat it, i’ve grabbed continuously at nothing to gain that choice back again. i’ll say that i’m writing more and constantly fantasize becoming an author, but things can always change. its tentative.
not everything is perfect. i’ll admit that i’m not so plagued by gloom: the other day, after school walking the halls, teary-eyed, i noted that me crying at school didn’t happen as often. i’ll admit, too, that my mentality with food has never been good. i’m afraid of depression but i warmly invite restrictive eating.
things will never be not hard but that’s because the world is not perfect. i love literature and books because they show me how valued my story is, even if it is blighted with failure and blubber and stumbling. i love literature and books because i get to escape the negativity the world has fallen into and visit the better parts of humanity. i love literature and books because they are never one-dimensional and they aren’t written in a blatant perspective; everyone’s life and writing is different. i love literature and books because they interact and dance with the bad, the good; the unforgivable, the angels; the crimson, the lily-white. there is much more to learn.
this was all born from the young girl, reading fan-written stories in bed, after hours, crying and whispering to the moon. i thought it was great and romantic, such a tragedy boohoo. all i wanted was to be recognized and to be loved for my flaws. i wanted to see past the facade other people had so they could see past mine and i could really touch someone.
i was so compelled to include the suzanne collins quote about finnick odair in my title because he’s my most recent fictional crush (an engagement i don’t think will ever give up, as embarrassing as it is bleh) and he has easily become one of my favorite characters (which is a better way to put it haha). he fits into the archetype of a walled, put-off persona with a deeper, more meaningful character, adorned with a strong moral standing. but he also doesn’t fit because he appears so honest and flawed. i included the quote, i believe, because it’s sort of all i’ve wanted, for someone i love to love me, too, no matter what (romantic or not). love = beauty, beauty = the world, as naive as it is. i am a romantic and i trust in goodness and i trust that good exists everywhere. that, and because finnick is a character that embodies my aesthetic for tragically beautiful things. he is a theme of duality in himself, perfect despite imperfectness. he is arrogant and sly on the outside, and certainly on the inside. his image is perfect and his reputation is unparalleled. he is desired, symbolizing a golden lust and envy. and he has been wrecked, physically and mentally. he stands for the sea that he has lived by and he is graceful in his work. but he has killed and dives headfirst into a ruthless persona, not outliving the pain his environment inflicts. however, regardless of pain and isolation, he is one of the most selfless characters i think could exist. he sacrifices himself for who and what he loves and he sees past inabilities. and it might seem reaching but to me, it seems true. and i haven’t even read the source material (eek, i’m gonna buy the books soon, i promise) , that’s just what translates from it. i tear up just thinking of his demise. but then again, i’m at least glad. glad that in his fictional universe he was alive and was himself. it’s great writing and i’m in love with how he was written.
i’m going to include a last allusion and it’s to harry potter. it’s one of my favorite quotes. dumbledore tells an angsty harry that he does, in fact, care about what he loves. “you care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it.” i like it a lot because it’s not such a travesty that harry was put into the world he was, because it’s beautiful. and he did have the responsibility of caring for everyone he loved but he eventually embraces it. i think it was just so moving to read how unmoving sentiment can be and how the conditioning of people brings us to passion. why be passive? there is so much to fight for.
i’m going to practice piano now. thanks for being a venting for rants, tumblr. i don’t even know if these posts will deleted one day—i thought i could give the ‘it’s on the internet forever’ theory a chance—so yea. maybe this will all go away. it’s existential but poetic, too. time to play piano.

How the web and media convergence changed our lives
Nowadays we live in a world that is dominated by technology and we are influenced by media in our day-to-day life experience on a regular basis. For this reason it is interesting to understand the impact that the advent of the internet and the media has had on our lives.
The World Wide Web was born in the nineties and it has been evolving since then, going through different phases.
Web 1.0 is the first generation of the web which could be considered the read-only web and also as a system of cognition. Web 1.0 began as an information place for businesses to broadcast their information to people. The early web provided limited user interactions or content contributions and only allowed to search the information and read it. Web 1.0 was static and somewhat mono-directional.
On the other hand, with reading as well as writing, the web could become bi-directional. This is what happened with Web 2.0, which is also known as the people-centric web, participative web, and read-write web. The users of web 2.0 have more interaction with less control. Web 2.0 is not only a new version of web 1.0; Flexible web design, creative reuse, updates, collaborative content creation and modification were facilitated through web 2.0. One of the main features of web 2.0 is to support collaboration and to help gather collective intelligence, all of which was not happening with web 1.0. The main technologies and services of web 2.0 include blogs, wikis, mashups, tags, and some more.
This transition changed not only the tools at our disposal, but also the attitude of the people using them. It generated a participatory culture, where users are stimulated to actively participate in the creation and circulation of new content.
In this context, we can introduce the concept of Convergence culture: “the flow of content across
multiple media platforms, the cooperation between multiple media industries, and the migratory behavior of media audiences who will go almost anywhere in search of the kinds of entertainment experiences they want.” (Jenkins, 2006).
In technology, we are experiencing the digitization of all media content: when words, images and sounds are transformed into digital information, and we can see how brands are trying to join multiple media technologies in one media product, trying to create the perfect machine that is able to perform many different tasks. With the World Wide Web, smartphones, tablet computers, smart televisions, and other digital devices, billions of people are now able to access media content that was once tied to specific communications media (print and broadcast) or platforms (newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and cinema). Since a diverse array of content is now being accessed through the same devices, media organizations have developed cross-media content. For example, news organizations no longer simply provide just print or audiovisual content but are portals that make material available in forms such as text, video, and podcasts, as well as providing links to other relevant resources, online access to their archives, and opportunities for users to comment on the story or provide links to relevant material. These developments have transformed journalism by breaching longstanding boundaries—between who is and is not a journalist.
On an economic point of view, companies started to develop an interest in many entertainment fields, such as film, TV, books, games, the internet, music, real estate, etc. They are trying to expand the potential audience and saturate the market by exploiting the original product in many forms of media. The international circulation of media content gives life to a cultural hybridity that shapes the world we live in and the way we approach to life.
Since it has become the most frequent and popular activity in the world, what drives the global convergence and creates this amalgamation of cultures are the social media. In our contemporary digital environment, we no longer feel “objects of communication”, but “subjects of communication”, we play an important role in the spread of information, since we make media ourselves.
We not only are affected by all the information we receive everyday, we become a part of it.
While the Internet has always allowed individuals to participate in media not only as consumers but also as producers, the social aspect of media convergence did not flourish until the 2000s, with the rise of Web 2.0 sites that aimed to be user-focused, decentralized, and able to change over time as users modified them through ongoing participation. Social media make it possible for everyone in the network to be simultaneously producer, distributor, and consumer of content. Their power comes from the connections between its users.
”Social media and social software are tools that increase our ability to share, to co-operate, with one another, and to take collective action, all outside the framework of traditional institutional institutions and organizations.” (Shirky 2008)
One way that professional media has engaged with media convergence is through transmedia storytelling, in which stories are told across multiple platforms. Although it is intimately connected to brands and franchises being spread across media by corporate conglomerates (e.g., Star Wars, The Matrix, Harry Potter, various Disney franchises), it does not simply refer to the adaptation of content from one platform to another (e.g., films and film characters providing the basis for toys and games). Rather, as Spanish media scholar Carlos Scolari has observed, transmedia storytelling “is a particular narrative structure that expands through both different languages (verbal, iconic, etc.) and media (cinema, comics, television, video games, etc.).” While transmedia storytelling can be a source of brand extension for media corporations, and hence further revenues and profits from reaching new audiences and selling more products, it has also functioned as a form of fan engagement with particular media content as they put together a richer and more complex narrative around it.
One question that needs to be asked, however, is whether or not these recent developments are beneficial for the society and the industry itself. In other words, whether or not media convergence presents more opportunities than challenges to both media producers and consumers. Consequences of this trend can be viewed as both positive and negative. On the one hand, it may cause the decline in the diversity of material offered and result in a tendency that voices of those lacking economic power will not be taken into account (Branston et al., 2008:179). On the other hand, it is argued that market driven media owned and controlled by big media corporations ‘can actually improve the value of the service, the flexibility of topics and the competence of the contributors as well as enable technological developments, change the elitism of media professionals and create new general awareness (Grant, 2009). Another aspect of media convergence that can be seen as its major drawback is what Jenkins (2006:23) calls the ‘participation gap’. This concept refers to the fact that while media convergence in general has encouraged audiences to participate in the process of content creation, it requires extended access to modern technologies, familiarity with the new forms of media, as well as developing certain skills (ibid.). As a result, certain segments of the audience arguably remain neglected and unable to fully participate in the new media culture.
Media convergence and social media are also benefitting the rise of the so-called Collective Intelligence, the shared or group knowledge that emerges from the collaboration, collective efforts, and competition of many individuals. A portal like Wikipedia, for example, is the result of the work of many people from all over the world, sharing information and putting them at the disposal of everyone. Google is another example of collective intelligence. But this can bring also some difficulties: audiences complain about information overload, and the rapidly changing technology makes it hard to keep track of it. So will an audience so used to traditional forms of media embrace a new way of receiving information?
Another phenomenon brought by the media convergence is the blurring of the public and private sphere. In fact, nowadays we can distinguish between “publicly private” when users share private identity information through media, therefore in a public platform, and “privately public”, when users make connections with many other people, while being relatively private with regard to sharing identity information.
Media convergence and the rise of Internet and social media have had a critical impact on the way we manage our lives and it will forever be this way. The beauty of it is that it keeps evolving, technology can make our lives easier and more comfortable in everyday situations, the challenge is to keep track of it and stay connected all the time. It’s up to us to decide if we want to control the machine or not.

Cloud Computing Futures:
In my last article, I discussed the evolution of Cloud Computing technology and how Cloud has been a paradigm shift for the Digital Transformation. Cloud provides the businesses with unheralded flexibility while offering them greater versatility and inexpensive solutions for managing the IT systems, where the technological developments are happening at a phenomenal pace and dynamic than ever before.
Cloud Computing has already permeated every facet of online activity. The burgeoning of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Connected devices are transforming the future of cloud technology. It is estimated that by 2025 the ‘Datasphere’ would grow to an incredible 163ZB, that is over a trillion gigabytes. With such an enormous amount of data being generated, the data needs to be stored somewhere which can be accessed by people. Of late, Cloud Computing has become the ideal place for data storage, both for business and personal use.
However, the future of Cloud Computing will see breathtaking innovations in the coming years which will surpass all the innovations seen so far in the following areas:
1. Everything as a Service (EaaS):
Cloud Computing sees continued growth for all its cloud-based services and solutions. Most of these services are already well established with Infrastructure, Platform, and Software as a Service (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) all predicted to account for a more significant portion of IT expenditure. The future of cloud service landscape will be very much dominated by the behemoths such as Amazon with its AWS, Google’s service – Google Apps and Google Compute Engine (GCE), and Microsoft Azure.
2. NoOps (No Operations):
NoOps is the concept that an IT environment can become so automated and abstracted from the underlying infrastructure that there is no need for a dedicated team to manage the software-in-house. According to Google’s Chairman, Eric Schmidt, “The current day’s programming model is based on twenty-year-old processes that force developers to think about the infrastructure. The new model will allow the developers to focus on business requirements, while the cloud provider handles the infrastructure and scalability.” The more underlying technologies are abstracted, and less operational tasks are required and hence the term NoOps. The organisations will still need operations, but the focus should shift towards operating the applications and ensuring the cloud platform is meeting its SLAs, and that is a very different model than running the data centres and middleware.
3. Serverless Architecture:
Cloud Computing welcomes to a Serverless Era. Serverless computing is a Cloud Computing model in which the platform will dynamically determine and manage the allocation of required infrastructure and automatically provisions and deprovisions the infrastructure to support the application. For, e.g., Think how much time is saved when the efforts of developing and managing an infrastructure are removed from the software development lifecycle (SDLC). In today’s environment, most of the time and resources are invested in building systems that can scale and failover. Google’s serverless architecture approaches abstracts that work and gives the developer the quickest path from ideation to production, running on top of the same technology and processes Google uses to run applications like Gmail, YouTube, and others.
With Serverless Computing, the cloud instances are no longer allocated to sit idle till called upon to fuel the applications and other functions. Instead, the resources are provisioned only when a specific event occurs. In case of the event-based computing, Internet of Things (IoT), with sensor-based devices responding or communicating to triggers on the fly or when a user accesses the mobile app from his/her smartphone, virtual machines in the cloud retrieve and serve the information.
Hence, the Serverless Architecture also known as “Function as a Service” (FaaS), signifies the next big thing in the journey or the roadmap of Cloud Computing. Gartner predicts that 90% of “Serverless” deployments will occur outside the IT department’s Infrastructure and operations groups. Serverless Computing makes products reliable, scalable and economically viable. Amazon launched AWS Lambda as its first commercial serverless platform in 2014. AWS Lambda allows one to run code without provisioning or managing servers. AWS Lambda remains the most popular choice of serverless computing platform offering, compared to its competitors IBM OpenWhisk or Microsoft Azure functions.
4. Scalable Storage:
The cloud-based storage is likely to increase and become inexpensive. The normalisation of cloud storage and companies advancing towards having their Infrastructure in the cloud, there will be significant growth in the total amount of data to be stored, simultaneously with an increase in the number of service providers. According to Cisco, “The Global storage capacity will increase from 600EB to 1.1ZB in 2018, which is almost twice the available storage of 2017.” The SMBs will be able to create bespoke storage solutions to benefit from cost efficiencies of hosting it on Cloud, while the big organisations will store Big Data in the cloud for data analytics and insights which will help improve their business performances. As these innovations mature, the public cloud delivery mechanism will continue to gain momentum and make the legacy system redundant and uncompetitive.
4. Machine Learning:
According to Eric Schmidt “Google believes machine learning is the next layer of programming. Google’s goal is to make the process of data ingestion, storage, and training machine models as simple as calling an API. This APIs will allow developers to focus on creating incredible new applications without having to understand complex concepts like neural networking. Google has demonstrated its speech, sound, and image recognition services. The Google ‘Cloud Vision API’ can analyse an image and categorise its contents into thousands of categories. For example, the API can take a picture of a person and detect gender, race, and mood. It can look at the background and determine the location of the person and other relevant information about the location. It can read text within the image itself and return it to the user as metadata.”
To Summarize, the future of cloud computing will both complement and leverage technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning for problem-solving and predict outcomes for things or events that the world has not even thought about it yet.
The next-gen Cloud Computing will focus on abstracting ‘Virtual Infrastructure’ and the operational processes that come along with managing that infrastructure. Complex technologies like AI and Machine Learning will be made simple for data scientists to focus on the data and the developers will be able to enable the data scientists without having to be an expert of the underlying AI and machine learning technologies.

The why: To give people the tools to self audit. =========================================== What is Meta-Data? Meta-data is “data” that’s about data (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metadata). Two types of meta-data exists, however it has stretched far beyond structural and descriptive meta-data. No longer do some people use it as a descriptive term about containers or data content. It has become, in a sense, a slang meant to describe useless data or data that isn’t usable unless paired with other data. Traditionally, meta-data was meant to describe digital data using the “meta-data standards” specific to a particular discipline. It was used to describe the contents and context of data or files. An example of this is what language a page is written in, what tools were used in its creation, and various other bits and pieces meant to better help a page to be read. What was used to facilitate in the discovery of relevant information is now used as a means to track a person through their selfies, images and whatever they upload to the internet. =========================================== Quick and Dirty – Windows Catchall 22 A lot of files contain meta-data. To some it’s useless, while to others it can be used to dig and find bits of data that leads to someone offline. You can avoid most attempts with a basic feature within Windows and up, however this is quick, dirty and will leave a lot of orphan data. For the time being, this isn’t something you should do if other tools or methods already exist. It is good to use for difficult files to scrub, like movies files or certain text files, yet the amount of orphan data could spur people onto finding the original or learning more about you out of curiosity. To access Windows’ “dummy method,” all you have to do is select a file or several files (of the same format) and right-click them and select the “details” tab. From there select the “Remove properties and personal data” link at the bottom, then in the window that pops up select the “Remove the following properties from this file” and hit “Select all” and finally “OK”. Emmanuel Macron and how political campaigns will never be the same
Emmanuel Macron has been elected as the president of France. While you’ll be able to read plenty of profiles about him over the next few days, I wanted to use this opportunity to look back at the campaign and how technology has profoundly changed politics.
Every major campaign brings its set of changes. Barack Obama used big data and micro-targeting in his 2008 campaign. Then social networks became a great way to address messages to voters directly. But the political campaigns of 2016 and 2017 have been something different altogether.
The internet has become so big that trolls started to have a significant influence on the results of the elections. If you’re American or British, I’m sure you know this story. Fake news and Facebook hysteria have played such an important role that it has been frustrating for many.
But it’s hard to understand this as an outsider. Sure, I wrote a plea asking Facebook to fix the plague of fake news before the French election. But I had no idea fake news could be this nerve-racking until the French election.
The last week of the campaign has been dominated by hackers sharing a ton of emails from Macron’s team, Marine Le Pen’s team and supporters tweeting fake news all day long and stupid memes going viral on Facebook.
With blogs and forums, the most interesting people became the most influential people. With Facebook, the loudest people have become the most influential people
If you think Macron’s election proves that Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms don’t have a fake news problem anymore, you’re wrong. It’s been a nightmare, and it’s still going to be a nightmare for future elections.
Even more important, Facebook is still the digital megaphone we don’t need.
With blogs and forums, the most interesting people became the most influential people. With Facebook, the loudest people have become the most influential people.
Sure you could say it’s a good thing that everyone now has a say. But I’ve never seen so many stupid, factually incorrect messages on a single website. You can unfriend the biggest offenders but you risk separating yourself from people who disagree with you and surround yourself with people in the same bubble as you.
Propaganda pages optimize their reach and chase likes and shares, bots increase engagement on each post, and everything becomes a test on collective intelligence. It feels like Facebook’s algorithm is turning citizens into guinea pigs to test the limits of democracy.
It’s so scary to see it happen a second time. And it’s even scarier to see that many French people discovered the concept of fake news last week. Nobody learns from our collective mistakes.
And then, there’s all the hacking. Thousands of emails and documents were shared hours before election day. So far, it’s a pretty dull story as it seems like these documents don’t show any conspiracy or shameful secrets.
But Macron’s team was aware that there was big risk. My guess is that hackers managed to access those email accounts thanks to phishing campaigns and password reuse, because it’s still hard to fix all your security weaknesses.
It’s clear that all elections are going to be like that now. Political team members will all need to take a course on “Encryption 101” before joining a campaign. At least it’s a good way to educate politicians so that they stop asking for backdoors.
Now, it’s time for tech cheerleaders to stop saying that tech is a good thing and will always fix itself. Technology has changed politics and there’s no coming back. Instead of fighting that, let’s embrace it and fix the internet before it completely messes up with our stupid monkey brains.

Human Plus Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs)
Apple’s launch of its iconic iPhone X has made a breakthrough in the world of mobile industry and a big leap in its technological advancements. Apple has established itself as the global leader for Smart Phones.
iPhone X’s much-lauded feature called the ‘Face ID’ (Facial Recognition system) using the cutting edge technology called the “Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to unlock the phone without a home button has run into issues with a gap in the technology.
The children under the age of 13 years and siblings with twins will have difficulty in recognizing them apart by the Face ID due to their distinct facial features may not have fully developed, and in case of the twins the Face ID is unable to distinguish the two separate individual faces due to the gap in the current ANNs technology.
Let me explain this further, ANNs is a form of connectionism or computing systems based on the function and structure of the biological neural networks. ANNs is the building block of the Internet of Things (IoT).
ANNs is based on a collection of interconnected nodes similar to a vast network of neurons in a human brain. The information that flows through the network affects the structure of the ANNs due to a neural network changes or learns, in a sense based on the input and output.
It is considered just the way a human brain recognizes an object. There are a brain and a neural network or neurons in our body which senses an object. There are a memory and data which is the input stored in our system which recognizes the object through the Human Neural Networks (HNNs) the moment it sees it.
For example, If you hold a comb horizontally in front of a camera without showing me its side views, the comb will appear to me like a stick. Since the ANNs is not programmed for a 3D mapping of an image or the object. Although men have tried to emulate the Neural Network, unfortunately, the ANNs does not recognize the three-dimensional image mapping, as the algorithms are not defined yet.
However, even if the ANNs recognizes the three-dimensional image mapping, the neural network has its limitations in the present scenario. In case of the identical twins the iPhone X, the Face ID still unlocks the phone which shouldn’t be the case. This is because the phone has captured the biometric features of the face of one twin, whereas the second twin looks at the camera the phone unlocks.
This only means that we are still at a stage where the ANNs doesn’t have the intelligence developed in it to recognize that there is a twin even if there is a 3D approach the differentiation of the object is challenging as of now. However, new technologies should be developed which recognizes the twins as separate objects.
The technology that is available today has already been made use for developing the Autonomous Vehicles (AV). Autonomous vehicles should recognize the signals, cars in front, behind, side, and other movements of objects/people on the road. But, if we place an image of a human being in front of the road how the autonomous vehicle will recognize that the image is not a human being but a picture of a human?
Even though the Artificial Neural networks are working inside the car, it is still not developed entirely due to the gaps and limitations in the technology. However, the facial recognition and any other kind of biometric identification have to be built even for Home Automation or for Industrial IoT.
The Neural network forms the basis of the foundation or the block or the framework on which the entire IoT is built or structured, and the advancement in the ANNs development has to continue in parallel. In another scenario, where the sensors for a running should be able to sense any obstruction or a break-downs in the system but if in case there is a glitch in that particular sensor and fails to detect the obstacle then the whole purpose of developing the cutting-edge & game-changing IoT technology itself fails.
Hence, the ANNs must be developed for recognition of the object with its patterns, characteristics, features, behaviors, gestures, movements, etc. and defining the kind of action that needs to be performed requires the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI forms the second major block for IoT which will create this entire IoT Superstructure. However, currently, there are no solutions to address the gap in the ANNs it only has basic and rudimentary solutions available for now.
The solution which I envision to address this problem is to develop not only ANNs but has to be a combination of Human and ANNs. The will require a cell to be developed in the lab which will then combine with the AI outside. The original cell of a human being and the Artificial Intelligence from outside combined will give a reliable and robust technology for future Computing and advancements for IoT verticals.
To summarize, there is a Neuron or a Neural network which is real and not an artificial one which will send information that will be tracked by the ANNs which converts it into its algorithms and provides a proper output or a command. The Industry Stakeholders should focus on continuing to advance their R&D in this space. The Future of IoT Framework will be on “Human Neural Networks (HNNs) collaborating with Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs).”
