3/4: What's your favorite line of narration? [+ dialogue]

For a piece that's 5.5 years old, I think most of the story holds up nicely. I think I did a good job setting the scene and playing into the canon cartoon quirkiness. I can't pick just one, so here's a few moments I like. I think I nailed the cartoon vibes here:

"Not so fast, Timmy Turner!" crowed a young British voice. This was followed by the horrifying stomp of a very large animal's heavy feet. Chloe set down the clock. In slow motion, she and Timmy turned towards the other end of the aisle. Then they grabbed each other's arms and screamed. "Ahhhhh!" Poof's eyes bulged. "How and when did you get that inside?" "Yes! Yes!" Cackling like a madder man than he probably actually was, Foop flew above the shelves, heels kicked up behind him and fists thrust in the air. "Bow down to me, you pathetic human idiots! Or else I shall be forced to crush you under the heels of my mighty persimmon amphibious wrecking ball of chaotic doom! Ahahahaha!" Chloe threw Timmy a jagged look. "You just couldn't resist the giant hippo wish, could you?" He crossed his arms. "Hey, you didn't argue then. Did you have a better way to block the portal door without destroying it and upsetting Poof?" "Fingerprint scanners! Always go for the fingerprint scanners!" "But that's so overplayed."

I think the visuals work well in this scene and don't bog it down. Plus, I love Foop... It's nice. It also balances that "Timmy likes to have fun and Chloe tends to be more practical" vibe without painting Timmy as dumb. Timmy and Chloe are both smart, but Chloe would probably go for a "more effective" solution here while Timmy went for a creative one- which is, of course, a huge part of his character.

This got cut and changed in the final episode, but in the original script for "Fairy, Fairy, Quite Contrary," Remy didn't have cell service in Fairy World and started freaking out because he couldn't come up with anything creative on the spot and he'd never had to be without signal before. Timmy won the duel with his creativity (the most amazing animal ever).

In the final episode, this was changed so that Timmy blurted out the first thing he thought of (a crab with two heads) while Remy did have cell service. We got closure to the Cosmo vs. Juandissimo drama that had been building by having Cosmo taunt Juan until he snapped and lashed out instead of helping Remy.

Anyway, I just think that original script had some cool stuff in it. It's not the only episode to cite Timmy's creativity. Off the top of my head, we also get "The Big Bash," where Cupid specifically tells Timmy that he was invited to a huge Fairy World party because Cupid values his imagination. There are so many things going on with Timmy's character throughout the series, but his imagination is consistently what gets him both into and out of trouble. That is one of the core parts of Timmy's character, and when you strip away his imagination, you lose what makes Timmy "Timmy."

We know that in Season 10, a lot of Chloe's wishes go wrong because she doesn't think before she speaks or she just straight-up makes terrible choices (like wishing that "everyone in Dimmsdale would share everything" which led to absolute anarchy). Chloe has her skills and logic, but Timmy has his experience and imagination.

Like. Timmy has so much experience with wishing that he literally spends the first two episodes mentally face-palming at Chloe's terrible choices, which I still think is hilarious and underrated. He heard Chloe's wording and said, "Oh, that can't end well" even before he'd seen the chaos outside his window. His wishing experience is so underrated - and Chloe straight-up just tells him that he's being rude, even while the city is in chaos around her - and I would have loved to see more of him taking her under his wing. Season 10's got its faults, but the core step-sibling drama is so good...

Since the tail end of the show is especially rough on Timmy's character, I think it's really important in my writing to show how Chloe and Timmy can complement each other without one of them necessarily being "better" than the other.

Yeah, Chloe gets stereotyped as "the perfect kid," and she does have some skills. But you know what she'll sacrifice for that "perfect" image she values? She'll out Mark as an alien and almost get him dissected just so she can get extra credit.

Yes, she's supposedly this certified super sitter who gets along well with little kids, but she struggles to have appropriate expectations for her peers to the point that (with no warning) she ripped away Timmy's ability to talk and screamed that he was the worst friend in the entire universe, "including black holes," because he wasn't walking to school fast enough and was going to make her late.

Yes, she's incredibly patient with "Angel" when Foop is trying to ruin her life, but she's also a pathological liar who will straight-up lie to adults for no reason beyond earning their trust and praise.

Like. That's such a fascinating part of her character and I wish we'd actually talked about how problematic that is for her, but she is literally on-screen lying regularly and there's no getting around that. I know you didn't complete your babysitting certificate within the 2 seconds it took for you to do a front flip, Chloe. I know you didn't bike to Fiji this morning. Mr. Crocker might humor you, but I know.

Chloe means well, but she'll make choices she believes are "objectively good" regardless of the pain it causes others in the process. She'll shut down and deny when things go wrong, while Timmy has a better understanding of consequences and how to work through emotional pain. He's the guy who will go to space to rescue his cruel babysitter from aliens. He'll travel the galaxy to help a rival fight invaders on his home planet. Honestly, his relationship with Mark is so good and pure, and he spent so much of his free time helping Mark get settled on Earth and even helped him celebrate his alien traditions.

Timmy's made his share of mistakes, but the contrast between "Timmy spends 10 seasons keeping Mark's existence secret, to the point that he yells to Cosmo and Wanda to freeze time even though Crocker is literally standing right there and could see him, just to keep Mark safe, and meanwhile Chloe outs him the day after she meets him and almost gets him killed" is SO good... I hate the execution of "Marked Man" with a passion, but Chloe's characterization in it is /chef's kiss. Yes queen, you go face the consequences of your actions. Get freakin' wrecked.

Anyway, I really like this one scene because I think it embodies the characterizations of Timmy and Chloe really well. They're not the same character, and it's important to give them both scenes where they can fail as well as thrive.

Timmy's reaction here I think was pretty spot-on, and I like Chloe's reminder that they're both abused children and get jealous and hurt easily:

"Ohh yeah." Timmy patted his flashlight against his hand and rolled his eyes. "We used to only have to deal with them on Black Friday, but ever since they started going digital, we have to deal with them on Cyber Monday too. And Gray Tuesday, which is basically the same thing as Black Friday, but for magical creatures all over the universe." "Why on a Tuesday?" "Don't know, don't care. But we have to go to Pixie World tonight. We're running out of time. Do you know whose name I have for the Fairy Reunion gift exchange this year? Jorgen von Strangle's!" Timmy upturned his hands to claws. "If I don't get him an impressive gift, he might grab my throat and crush me into oblivion. Or take my fairies! Or crush me and then take my fairies!" He began to hyperventilate at the thought, twitching his hands and neck about. "Hang on. There's a Fairy Reunion gift exchange? And I wasn't invited?" "Not the part of that sentence I need you to focus on right now, Chloe." "Well, yeah," she muttered, "but I didn't get invited."

The scene where Timmy shines a flashlight in Chloe's eyes is one of my favorite for a quick snippet; I feel like it's a totally realistic thing for a cartoon 11-year-old to do to his friend.

A lone hand snaked out from behind the mattress and jerked her underneath. "Hey!" Before she knew it, Chloe found herself squinting directly into the beam of a stuttering flashlight. Behind it, she could make out two over-sized buck teeth, a battered pink hat, and scruffy brown bangs that fell over a pair of grim blue eyes. Was that striped shirt part of his pajamas? He wore his hat even with his pajamas? "Timmy? Where are Cosmo and Wanda?" As Poof crawled beneath the mattress to join them, she lifted her hand to shield her face. "Hey, can you cut it out? My future self really will need an eye patch at this rate." Timmy switched the flashlight off. "You've got pupils. You're real. I guess I can tell you."

Also... Crockermichael fluff, my beloved...

Chloe looked at her own dance partner, sashaying still. "I hate to do this to you, Kevin." "No, no, please. I would hate to interrupt." His face fell into total deadpan, brows drawn down. If his feet were skittering about any faster, he'd probably have set them on fire. "Really, I understand. It's the Crocker way. Just get it over with." Chloe swept her leg behind his and flipped him over onto his back. Kevin crashed to the floor with a grunt, curling his legs like a squashed beetle ready to die.

Kevin is so dead inside, but I love him.

Overall, I really do like how I wrote Chloe in this story. I think I struck the right balance of Chloe feeling lonely, Chloe being a nice person, and Chloe being skilled at many things. The scene where she kicks H.P. in the jaw "on total instinct" and then it causes a chain reaction of problems is just great.

Also one of my favorite dialogue moments would be the introduction to H.P. (after he's calmed down):

"Look at us." Once the anti-fairy landed, H.P. threw his other arm around his shoulders and pulled him in. "We're all together, celebrating the holidays for another year. Does it get any better than this?" He withdrew then, sniffling and flapping his mittened hands at his eyes. "I won't cry. I told myself I wouldn't cry." Poof floated behind Chloe's shoulder with a repulsed look twisting up his pudgy face. "Whoa. What's up with him?" "Jolly spirits," the anti-fairy grumbled as H.P. caught him in another group hug. This one knocked his monocle out of place. It bobbed on its cord. The anti-fairy rolled his eyes as H.P. mashed their cheeks together. The microphone of H.P.'s headset scraped and stuttered. "He's always like this on Gray Tuesday. One of these years, I shall succeed in reeling him in." The young fairy tapped his cheek. "I will make a note of that for my fanfics and purposely use this information totally out of context just for a laugh at your expense."

H.P. jacked up on Christmas magic to the point that he's giddy and useless for most the story is good fun.

Poof writing fanfics had actually been part of my canon for ages before I wrote this piece... I have an unfinished one-shot I've been sitting on for like 6 years that's about Foop getting obsessed with all the Ninja Cowboy fanfics Poof wrote and then gave up on because they're opposites, and Foop can't bring it up with him without outing himself. It makes me laugh and this line makes me think about that story and I think it's funny.

My favorite one-liner in this piece is probably Timmy shushing Chloe by telling her "not to tell Cosmo and Wanda." I love when the fairy step-siblings act like siblings...

5: What part was hardest to write?

Definitely the scene where the gang is searching for Finley and Finley gets magical overload. I've never liked it and I fought with it so long before I gave up. It's... fine? I'm not even sure how I would make it better now, so it certainly is a thing that happened.

I do love that Timmy and Chloe carry the exploded paper-mâché and glittery goop remains of a pixie while they shop, because that's really funny and again ties into the wacky magical back-up canon. Plus, exploding a character when that IS part of their canon and the audience knows (I presume) that he'll be fine is great.

Although I probably should have made him explode into paperwork... Ah, well.

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

Yes, I shared the alt ending in a post about Longwood a few years ago. It's number 16.

It got cut for several reasons, like Cosmo and Wanda not being around. It would've been an acceptable ending, but it wasn't as fun or dramatic or as "relieving" as dropping into bed at home after a wild evening of being unsupervised kids.

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

Mostly just some thoughts on my characterization of Chloe and Timmy, as depicted above. Also the brotherly relationship between Timmy and Poof. I genuinely love my take on Poof's personality and I love how he plays off Timmy. He's kind of an instigator and kind of a yes man and he's goofy and inexperienced and I like him.

15: What did you learn from writing this fic?

Probably not to include songs in my stories... I think it's kinda cute, but in a sort of affectionately cringey way that can tip a little far. There's another 130 Prompt I've been working on for a few years which was about a song at a high school dance that Foop takes offense to, but writing lyrics and wondering how they come across is more nerve-wracking than it needs to be.

I’m like a crow on a wire. You’re the shining distraction that makes me fly home.

“What the hell is so damn funny? Enlighten me before I make myself go deaf on purpose.”

You and Yachi were giggling for the past five minutes about something that had happened earlier in class.

Face flustered and trying to keep a still face, you turn and sputter out, “Damn, Tsukishima, is- is it a crime pfft to lau- I’m so sorry I can’t even talk to you right now.” You barely get the last of your sentences out as you burst into giggles again.

Tsukishima is just watching you. He’s not even sure how to react. He isn’t even aware that he was staring until Hinata comes up, flicks his head between you two, and states, “Tsukishima, just take a picture, it’ll last longer.”

Tsukishima blushes furiously from getting caught, then mutters something about taking a picture of Hinata in his grave.

All of you were in good spirits, with it being the day of the Harvest Moon Festival. Ukai even ended practice early, to allow everyone the time to prepare for the festivities. Although, he had to lightly threaten Hinata and Kageyama if he found out they used the gym outside of practice.

Mizuki encouraged Yachi to get ready with you at the house, hoping to hearten up the girl-bonding the three of you had. She got off of work early to help you two get ready, and it truly was a wholesome experience.

After several hours (or several years to Tsukishima), you and Yachi were all dressed and ready to go. She brings out a mirror so the two of you can inspect your looks.

“You girls look so lovely,” Mizuki gushes.

Let the squealing commence!

“YACHIIII! You’re glowing in that color! Do a spin for me girlie!!”

“Y/NNNN! You’re the one that’s glowing!! I swear, I can already hear all the boys breaking their necks to peek at you!!”

Mizuki had been watching all three of you, so she was a little surprised at her son’s sudden intense blush after the “boys checking out y/n” comment. She definitely took a mental note of that.

Suddenly, a knock at the door captured all of your attention.

Mizuki clasps her hand. “Alright! Kei, watch over these two lovely ladies! Be careful and have fun!” She bids you all goodbye with a hug.

You open the door to find Yamaguchi, Hinata, and Kageyama bouncing from excitement.

“We invited these idiots too? Well, I’m out,” Tsukishima turns to walk back inside, but before he could, you lightly grab his wrist, causing him to abruptly stop. You feel his warmth and swear there’s a light spark.

“Tsukishima, please? It’s my first time anyway, and I want to experience it with everyone! Come on, it’ll be fun!”

He already felt somewhat weak around you, so how could he say no to your puppy-sad eyes? No one with sanity could resist those.

He rolls his eyes. “Fine. Let’s go before I change my mind.”

Everyone collectively sighs a breath of relief.

“We’re going to meet the senpais at the festival ground, so let’s gooo!” Hinata announces as you all make your way to the main event.

The main town square was overflowing with festive decorations, painting every nook and cranny. It was just before sunset, so the glow of the lowering sun drowned the atmosphere in golden haze. Pampas grass, blush clovers and autumnal flowers littered windows, adding an extra pop of color. There were people dancing in joyous manner, others feasting on mid-autumn treats, and extra citizens strolling around enjoying the festivities.

Your group had barely walked into the entrance when you were cheerily greeted by 6 more individuals.

“OI! First-years! Your senpais are over here!” Tanaka and Nishinoya belted out to capture your groups’ attention. Soon, you feel engulfed in several hugs from your senpais. Even you and Yachi spent a few minutes with Kiyoko on complimenting each other, who looked like a gem with her deep violet theme.

Time began to fly by, with you and the team happily making your way around the festival, participating in all the activities offered. At some point, there was a dance ritual, and Kiyoko took you and Yachi by surprise by dragging you out to dance. The three of you danced without a care in the world, not even noticing how you were being watched in awe by the rest of the team. All but the first year boys are quick to join, who stand idly on the side, not sure what to do.

Mid-twirl, you notice the four awkward boys playing ‘wallflower’, so you mention it to Yachi, and within that second you two stride up to them. She grabs Tobio and Hinata’s wrists, while you clasp onto Tadashi and Tsukishima’s.

“There is no way we’re letting you stand there like some awkward ass trees. Come dance with us, at least for a little bit!” You didn’t wait for a response as you dragged them out into the square. You let go and slide into the rhythm of the native dance, while the boys awkwardly try to follow. You take a turn helping each of them, and although it was pretty much a lost cause, you all still had a load of fun either way.

Once the period of dancing was over, you and the team made your way over to the food stands. The closer you got, the more engulfed you were in the endless delicious scents. There were heavier servings, such bottomless amounts of dango (white dumplings of rice), tsukimi burgers, and lots of dishes with eggs. Fall fruits and vegetables were also present, such as kuri (chestnuts), kabocha (pumpkin), persimmons, Japanese sweet potatoes, taro, grapes, and pears.

The boys ate a portion from each stand, their appetite never seeming to end. However, you had a hard time deciding which one to choose, so you, Yachi and Kiyoko settled and shared a bit from each. To help the digestion, you made your way to make your harvest offerings.

Each member made line at the temple to make their offering, but Tsukishima sensed your hesitation.

“Don’t know how to do it? I thought you knew everything, you nerd.”

You look up and laugh in slight embarrassment. “I do, it’s just been a while, I guess. Brings back a couple memories, that’s all.”

To be lightly petty, you cut him in line. To your surprise, he doesn’t make a sarcastic comment, so you leave it alone.

The reason why he didn’t was so he could have the privilege to watch you. To see you bask in the soft glow of the candlelight, with wisps of the incense swirling around your face. To feel his own fascination in seeing stillness in your features, for just a moment.

By the time every member had made their offering, it was dark, meaning the moon viewing was about to start.

The moon was shining its brightest at the highest peak in the sky. All of those attending had gathered to surround the main area for the viewing, to get the best view of the moon. Music was softly playing, setting a serene tone.

You and the team had huddled together in awe. But for some reason, something seemed amiss. You turn to each of your friends, only to find one missing.

Tsukishima.

Whispering to Yachi, you set off in search to find him. It shouldn’t be too hard, considering almost everyone was being entranced by the moon. Plus, he’s, you know, pretty tall.

You feel it’s best to retrace your steps. And right you were!

You find Tsukishima purchasing an item, and get the bright idea of trying to sneak behind him. Somehow thinking you were going to be able to scare him. However, you failed two steps in.

He turns around and you two barely missing collision, almost dropping the small bowl in his hand.

“Tsk tsk. Your stalking almost wasted my money, y/n.”

Still catching your breath, you glare up at him. “Well sheesh, not my fault you snuck off.”

He smirks and shakes his head. “Excuse me for going out of my way to be generous, never again I suppose.”

Tilting your head, you ask, “What do you mean?”

He suddenly turns bashful. Thank goodness it was dark enough to mask the pink now flooding his cheeks.

“Well, I saw you practically drooling for these earlier, so...” his voice trails off. He looks in the opposite direction as he puts the bowl out for you to take. You glance down in curiosity. Inside were four little mochi balls in the shape of rabbits.

You feel a bit of blush on your cheeks, and you bring him back down to earth as you say, “You got this for me?”

“It’s either that or hear whining when we get back. I’d rather spend a couple yen for silence to be honest,” he shrugs.

You laugh and playfully push his shoulder with yours. “I’m not that whiny. You swear. Anyway, let’s head back, the moon viewing has already started.”

You begin to walk back to your friends when you feel a gentle tug on your wrist. Turning, you see Tsukishima with his iconic smirk, along with a mysterious, playful glint in his eyes.

“Actually, I have a better spot in mind.”

He leads you back towards the temple, which then branches off to a smaller , more hidden path. Eventually, the two of you are peering over a quaint koi pond, surrounded by lush plant life. Your eyes full of wonder, all while glowing in the moonlight.

Tsukishima has never seen anything so beautiful.

You hardly notice his intense staring as you look up in awe and ponder, “How do you know about this place? It’s gorgeous!”

He breaks his gaze to stare up at the moon above. “This is the one place I have to myself. The one place I can run and hide whenever I needed to. It was just me, and no one else. But...it feels right to share it right now.”

You feel both honored and mesmerized by this moment. To make it sweeter, you open your box and hand a mochi to Tsukishima. “Cheers.”

He silently accepts your mochi and doesn’t object when you clink your rabbit against his, like a teacup. The two of you munch the treat, then continue to revel in the comfortable silence.

After a while, you hear faraway bustles of people, indicating that the viewing was finishing up. “I hate to leave, but it seems like we’re almost done,” you admit forlornly as you pick up your bowl.

Tsukishima is quick to notice a few strands fall from your face, so he takes this opening to lift your chin and tuck them behind your ear.

Your breath hitches.

“You know, I’m sure many boys probably broke their necks today. That color looks good on you.”

You realize this is a response to Yachi’s comment from earlier, and are not even sure how to react. Especially not when he’s super close to you right now. How dare he, messing with your brain’s functionality.

But just as quick as the moment arrived, it was gone.

You both begin trekking back to the team. Just as you feel your phone vibrate to notify it being Eleven o’clock, you feel a warm, “not-too-hard, not-too-soft” pinky tenderly wrap around yours.

It felt just right.

I'm the first to admit that I’m reckless . I get lost in your beauty and I can’t see two feet in front of me.

name: maxine mackenzie duchanne. prefers to go by max. if you call her mackenzie, she may or may not hate you her mother tends to full name her (maxine mackenzie!) and she hates it. 

younger sister of mason and maggie duchanne-- there’s two more sisters, poor mason has FOUR of them. 

she is FIERCELY protective of her siblings. like she will cut a bitch if she hears someone talking about them, and has been known to get into trouble because of this. in fact, she was arrested a while back for assaulting her older sister, maggie’s, ex boyfriend after he broke maggie’s heart. maxine played softball in high school, so she went and got her bat, and not only did she break the windows of his car and carve out some very.... special words for him on the paint, but when he came and saw what she’d done, she physically attacked him and had to be pulled off him by the police after his neighbors heard him yelling. she got a slap on the wrist, since the duchanne parents are well known as upstanding individuals of frostford, but she did spend a couple nights in a holding cell. 

born october 31st, 1994. she’s a fucking scorpio. 

super gay. she currently identifies as bisexual, but she’s been with exactly (1) man in her life and prefers the ladies. she actually kinda hates men? a true misandrist. kidding, she loves men platonically, but when it comes to dating, she has yet to meet a man who doesn’t make her wanna throw up. but sadly she finds herself still attracted to them, though eventually she’s going to figure out that she might find them attractive but doesn’t really want to be in love or have sex with one. 

she’s currently a medical student at University of South Alabama’s college of medicine! she’s in her second year, set to start her third year in the fall, and she’s super excited to start actually getting to shadow doctors and getting a more hands on experience. she wants to be a surgeon one day. their parents are doctors as well, but max really looked up to mason when she was younger, and he’s who really sparked her interest in going into the medical field as well. 

she went to Emory for undergrad, studied anthropology and human biology; minored in spanish. from the age of 18, she lived in atlanta, georgia on her own while she was going to school, and she just moved back to frostford 3 years ago when she finished college and was applying to medical school!

currently works as a library aide at the frostford public library on her down time! she’s usually listening to music, minding her business as she puts books away, but sometimes does find a book that looks interesting and gets a little distracted and you might sometimes find her in a corner of the library, reading.

Hey I took the liberty of spending too much time of my life going through some of the Mario stages in Ultimate to find pretty scenes and interesting secrets. Super Smash Bros. 64 (2 stages)

Peach’s Castle

As one might expect, the Smash 64 stages don’t have too much to talk about. But I tried to find as much as I could! For starters, here’s a very pretty scenic shot of the background, which is a bird’s eye view of the starting area in Super Mario 64.

Secondly, there are these trees, which are taken directly from Super Mario 64 smushed down a little bit, and had the colors desaturated a bit.

And, just for fun: This isn’t the first time this tree appears on the Nintendo Switch, as this same tree sprite was used in the recreation of the courtyard in Odyssey!

Mushroom Kingdom

Again, not much to talk about but hey here’s something everyone already knows: You can see the blast zones in this stage. I believe this is actually in each iteration of this stage (64, Melee, Ultimate) I also think the fake 2D pipe is a little interesting to look at. It doesn’t blend in very well but it’s cute.

You can also get a glimpse of how far down the vines and mushrooms go

And lastly, here’s a picture of the cute Buzzy Beetle on a spring. Rumor has it that this was added in by a developer without permission in the N64 version? I don’t know if that’s true but it’s a neat story. Also, Buzzy Beetles don’t usually appear above ground, so there’s some trivia for you

Super Smash Bros. Melee (4 Stages)

Princess Peach’s Castle

This is the first stage to get an HD remaster! Look at the beautiful recreation of the Peach Mural in front of the castle!

You can also see the bridge over Peach’s Moat, which I don’t think you could see before

Also, this isn’t intentional and is surely a coincidence but if you clip under Peach’s castle, it looks like there’s a hole in the water which is almost what it looks like if you clip under Peach’s Castle in Super Mario Odyssey.

Lastly, here’s a nice scenic shot of the waterfall behind the castle

Rainbow Cruise

So, this stage opens up with a really beautiful scenic shot. And to the left of the lake, you can see a little town! This was also in the original Melee version of this stage.

Interestingly, if you move the camera you can see that the whole stage is already loaded while you’re on the airship, and the airship is actually stationary.

Yoshi’s Island

OKAY this is a Yoshi Stage cause it’s based on Dinosaur Land but it comes from Super Mario World which is a Mario game so I’m putting it here.

The walk off part of the level actually has grass on it

And the level has been updated to have cute New Super Mario Bros. flowers!

And this stage has cute 2 paintings of the Sprites from Super Mario World AND a shot of nice HD Yoshi Fruit. These fruits have a much more berry or persimmon look in modern Mario titles but the apple look isn’t too far off.

Mushroom Kingdom II

A sequel to the first Mushroom Kingdom Stage, this doesn’t have a lot to talk about either but there is some stuff! It looks very pretty with the All-Stars sprites

And if you look, the tops of the platforms are just a very... neat looking solid green color

And you can even get a peek at where the stage’s background cuts off!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (4 stages)

Delfino Plaza

My favorite Smash Bros. Stage ever! I love all the detail put into this stage, particularly all the stages you can see from the plaza itself. Like Ricco Harbor and Bianco Hills

Pinna Park and Sirena Beach

And even the Airstrip!

There’s also tons of cute details in the Plaza, like the manhole covers and the overhang that contains the Pachinko stage!

Even the open windows have been updated to have fully rendered rooms inside them! Although the camera can’t zoom in very far to see them.

And here’s a fun glitch, you can clip the camera underwater just like clipping Mario under the water in the original Sunshine!

Also I noticed that the fire from Mario’s Final Smash leaves a special burning effect behind when it touches grass

Mushroomy Kingdom

The spinoff to Mushroom Kingdoms I&II, it has a TON of fantastic visual detail. Being a realistic, worn down reimagining of the original 1-1

You’ll notice in the last one that the pipes have covers on them, so you can’t enter them. The castle itself also has a fantastic visual wear and tear

Here’s a cute detail! 6 blocks away from this pipe is a hidden box. Just like the original Super Mario Bros.! In the original game it had a hidden 1-up inside!

Also here’s a nice shot I got of Mario grabbing the flag pole!

Figure-8 Circuit

Most people already know this but you can almost see the full track just out of reach of the screen

You might notice a cute garage and even stands for the audience! However, the stands are filled with humans instead of Mario characters. I think they’re recycled from the Punch Out arena stage. But there’s a screen that keeps track of where the Shyguys are in real time! Neat!

Speaking of which, here’s a close up on the Shyguys. They use the Standard SG Kart just as they would when playing multiplayer mode with 1 cartridge in Mario Kart DS. Which is where Figure-8 Circuit comes from, of course.

Lastly, one of my favorite details in this track is it’s use of Mario aesthetics and platforms as set pieces to build the environment. You can see large mushrooms, hills, checkered floors, and the block platforms seen in Mario Bros. 3!

Luigi’s Mansion

A really nice detail in this stage is that all the rooms you can see are actual rooms from Luigi’s Mansion! In order, left to right, top then bottom, the rooms are: Nursery, Foyer (1F), Study, Kitchen, Foyer, Ballroom.

And by stepping out of the Mansion you get a good look at the front!

But don’t worry, you can still see the cross section if you turn the camera

Some other cute details include the well where you first see Mario’s fate in Luigi’s Mansion, there’s a lot of tombstones around the mansion which take designs from Luigi’s Mansion’s graveyard. And even the chimneys at the top of the mansion are right where they should be!

And lastly here’s some of the Boos that spawn when you destroy chunks of the mansion

Mario Bros.

I only have one thing to talk about with this stage, and it’s that the POW Block has a strange amount of detail to it. It’s updated with this cool, cybernetic design.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (3 Stages)

3D Land

This stage is GORGEOUS, in my opinion. Here’s some good shots that show the detail of blocks, flip panels, Peach’s castle, and spike pillars, all with their 3D Land designs

You can also see a little visual thing where this mountain isn’t exactly in the water

An interesting developer trick is that when you go into the pipe to restart the stage, tilting the camera will show you that almost the whole stage unloads around you

And now... Here’s just a ton of really pretty scenic shots I got from this level. I just think it’s a really nice looking stage. It also does a good job of incorporation Mario elements and platforms into the environments.

Golden Plains

Some really nice recreations of Mario props in this stage. Here’s the 3 types of coins that appear in the stage, Gold, Red, and Blue. Gold/Blue count as 1 and Red counts as 5.

The little sign at the bottom appears when the stage starts scrolling. Also here’s some other Mario set pieces.

Also this stage isn’t as pretty as 3D Land, it does have some nice background shots

And here’s a screenshot of the stage gimmick, getting 100 coins will turn you into a gold version of your fighter!

Paper Mario

this is another stunning stage to look at. The detail in the paper and crafts are so amazing. 

In the first area, based on Hither Thither Hill, if you look to the side the walk off part of the stage actually has the same walk off between areas that Paper Mario games have!!

The 2nd area, based on the S.S. Flavion, has a super cute references to the reoccuring Big Blooper bosses in Paper Mario and the Whale from Paper Mario 64

The 3rd area, based on Bowser’s Castle in Sticker Star, is just pretty. And when the stage transitions back to the 1st area it actually closes like a story book, how cute!!

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U (4 Stages)

Mushroom Kingdom U

A really underrated stage in my opinion. This is the most recent entry in the Mushroom Kingdom series of stages, based on the New Super Mario Bros. series this time. The first area, based on Acorn Plains, has some very cute environments in it.

You can even see trees containing Super Acorns, which naturally grow in this area! The 2nd area is based on the Meringue Clouds world. It’s so pretty and I even got a shot of the icicles that fall periodically through this stage. Sadly I couldn’t get the beanstalk to spawn? Maybe it’s not in Ultimate’s version of the stage. But I don’t know.

The next area is based on the games’ fortress stages! It has REALLY complex machinery for the center platforms, and you can even move the camera to see down the tower. It’s a LONG drop. I also got close ups of the multiplying blocks

The final area is based on Sparkling Waters and Rock-Candy Mines. It has pretty backdrops and sea urchins!

Lastly, some nice pictures of Kamek!

And Nabbit! Who, interestingly, has a visual glitch on his bag. The top of the Mushroom emblem is incorrectly doubled right underneath it.

Mario Galaxy

Another super pretty stage. It has gorgeous set pieces

Here’s a closeup of Starship Mario and one of Bowser’s airships. Starship Mario has Lubba, the Lumas, and all the trimmings. The airship doesn’t seem to have many crew members, though.

Mario Circuit

This, like Figure-8 Circuit, is a recreation of Mario Kart 8′s Mario Circuit. It has all the same details (minus an audience to watch)

Also, some of the towers you land on have staircases that go a lot further than you’d think

And lastly, here’s a close up of the shyguy racers. They’re now decked out with the Standard Kart design from Mario Kart 8. If you look closely, the Shyguy’s clothes are also far more detailed than the Shyguys in Figure-8 Circuit.

Super Mario Maker

This is a neat stage because it can shift artstyles mid battle. Here’s a picture of the 4 art styles: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U!

I also got some shots of the hands that will appear to fix parts of the stage you break during combat! I’m sure there’s more hands but we do have human hands, animal hands, and Mario hands!

Mario also has a cute Mario Maker alt. to go along perfectly with this stage!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (1 Stage)

New Donk City Hall

We finally made it! Here’s the end of this massive, way too long post! Here’s some nice shots of the city, a shot of the park, and I even tried getting most of the sky scraper in one shot

Here’s some nice shots of the Odyssey! You’ll notice it has 21 Power Moons, as the official art for the Odyssey has. But it actually takes 55 Power Moons to reach the Metro Kingdom.

Some bonus stuff: A lightbulb, the New Donk City players (plus poster), and even a shot that shows how much of New Donk City was rendered.

And look! It’s Captain Toad!!! I love this fella so much!

His arm looks very weird and long when he puts it in front of his face. But you wouldn’t notice that during normal gameplay anyway

And now... I have no other way of saying this. I have a million shots of Pauline. She’s so gorgeous. I love her so much.

A really nice detail about this is that we get a good shot of Pauline’s back! You don’t get a good look in Odyssey because when you get to her during the festival the camera is locked.

AAAAAAND that’s it! That’s all the little snacks and secrets I found in the Mario stages. This was very fun and very tiring. I hope you enjoyed what I found. I know there’s a ton more stuff I missed. I do also have screenshots from the Mario spinoffs, like Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario. So if people wanna see that too I can share them. But hey, for right now. I’m going to sleep. 1/24/2019 Millbrae, CA

So I’ve made it! Here we are in CA. West coast is truly the best coast (and yes my boo CO, that includes you too). Currently I’m in the backyard of the house (Airbnb hostel-like place) under their mini gazebo/patio thing. It was cold last night, so the chairs are all dewy, encouraging me to take a sit on the pavement. It’s not particularly warm, but the sun is out and doing it’s thing just right. It’s 0940ish; I woke up around 0900, having gone to bed close to 0100 watching Californication and Big Mouth which, no Matt, it’s not funnier while you’re stoned. I did a double last night at Marvelous Performance, but that would’ve been more impressive at Terra Nova because at this gym, I’m currently partaking in the Fundamentals level. It felt great yesterday though to have done their crossfit-level workout afterward. I’m excited for tonight, which will be another double: fundamentals strength first, HIIT class after. I’m especially excited though, for this thing they’re advertising (and I can’t seem to find any other info on it than what Matt ((one of the coaches)) told me) called something like 6-weeks to Best Self. I met a dude last night who was cool enough to just walk up to me randomly and introduce himself. I liked his energy and he was a similar height, but built! He’s been a member for a year and said he started with the 6 week thing too-- said it’s worth it especially for the nutritional/educational piece. :3 so i gotta get on registering. Imma ask more tonight. There’s an orange and lemon tree back here, with fruit but a bit too early to pick. According to the other residents, there’s also a cherry and apple tree. Our neighbors have persimmons (my like new fav fruit) and figs! Amazing. This place is a little house, longer in length than width, with about 6 bedrooms. Each bedroom has bunkbeds and from what I understand, there’s a single private room? It works though! Yknow, if you’re not OCD about things/not super bugged by messy people… A team comes to clean supposedly twice a week, but the residents report it’s been more so once a week, which isn’t cool because we’re past half capacity. Still, it works. 3 or 4 fridges in total, a kitchen, living room, tiny dining room, a basement with another tv and computers which I can’t figure out if they belong to anyone in particular or not. 3 guitars or more (mine included). A piano. Plenty of bikes (supposedly one is communal, but every one that brought their own bike is willing to share. A poor excuse for a workout bench but it can work. Communal/free laundry soap (feels weird to smell different). And a solid group of misfits. The coffee here is free (As even indicated by a little sign someone made) and there’s nearly always a fresh pot on. I shared a lot of my mush yesterday which is fine because I’m getting help paying for it anyway ty Katherine, and people are getting hooked but now it’s not even gonna last 24H x). Gotta make more today… So being here: It’s been a little disorienting to find my feelings. Today’s the first day that I’m taking a bit of time to create the space. My last day off was a bit of that, but I was so excited and distracted by my mini adventure to Sprouts that I didn’t make a lot of headway for what’s going on up there. I was starting to wonder if there’s much going on at all, just because everything is new and engaging and something’s always happening (even if it’s just netflix or someone playing video games). It’s all too easy to just let the days roll by. I checked in** on Jan 6th, was it? (**got to millbrae a day earlier and Ren gave me crap later for having us sleep in the car and not Elo/Peter’s place hehe). I wonder too, if it was too quick of a transition. I’m slowly allowing the format of my exploration to change. CO was all about meeting people via apps, but here I’ve already fallen into a group and met people way more easily in person ie Marvelous Performace, a friend of a friend, or even work/fellow travelers. As the experience pans out, I’m at least aware that allowing this format to be different is growth in itself. It makes me wonder how the next place might feel. I’ve also started to wonder about extending here… but that remains to be seen. (Been toying with the idea of WA next). There’s a crow that’s been vocal this morning, little finches chirping at a quicker pace, and another bird I don’t recognize all seemingly celebrating the quiet, warm morning. I’ve notifed just now my nose is a tiny bit stuffy, but I can still smell the sweet baked/fried goodies from whatever  bakery nearby. It carries in the wind to pretty impressive distances, but I think we’re close by. My laundry is going so I’m feeling extra productive/not worried about how I should be adventuring right now instead because I need to stick around to move it over/start the next load, and that made me wonder something new: I don’t feel … inquieto. I think that translates to anxious/restless. I always think it’s appropriate to say “be still, my heart,” if one is feeling inquieto, so I guess the translation fits. Still, i think those english words are a bit deceiving. Inquieto in ronnie world is yes, both of those, but fueled by a FOMA type of energy. I’m very aware of my emotional habit of needing to feel productive/busy all the time or else I’ll begin to feel depressed (something to examine later, though I don’t think it’s necessarily unhealthy of a thing. Bagh, but who knows what I’m hiding now), but (rounding back to the Something New) I think that energy is more at peace here, and that’s what’s mainly throwing me off. “Ronnie, what do you want..?” Uhh… Idk! We can always walk to Trader Joe’s or hop on the bus or train somewhere or read.. “Shouldn’t we be out meeting people? Meetups? Destinations? Missions?” Hm. I mean I guess but I rather just ride the bus or train :3 So maybe my social quota is filled already with these rascals. I expressed to Tracy that I was a little worried I’m not worried about it (am I asexual?), when she asked if there were any new love interests. She assured me that that’s totally normal-- we go through phases of course. She went through a 2 year stretch of not even giving that thought because life was just busy. She was doing her, and that was okay. That resonates with me. I guess I have this perception that around my age, everyone should be out socializing/meeting people/flirting/hooking up/getting trashed… but cmon ronnie, was that ever really you? I do find that fun occasionally, but it’s like I’m super happy to be settling more into my grandpa-like tendencies. I think the 8hr shifts have a lot to do with it too: the life I have within these contracts is probably hugely dictated by the shift I signed up for. These 8hr-ers encourage my grandpa trends, encourage a routine, encourage my days off to be restful and adventurous in MY way. In comparison, CO was 12hr-ers, nights, but took up about 4 days a week of my life. The rest of the days? I guess just chillin with Ren XD but it’s still different. Not in a bad way! Maybe I should look into more introspective prompts. Mainly I just try to gauge the degree of my inner FOMA, or trans-dom x) “*knocks on the mental door* Hey, Ronnie? You okay? This video series is a replay of a CoC game played with the uploader’s family & friends featuring GS characters (Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth, Larry), with a few tweaks in the dialogue. It follows a scenario provided by kanin @ <http://kanin-hib.hateblo.jp/> called “Touring the Town”.

This episode marks the beginning of a beautiful relationship, as well as the omen of a terrifying horror…

KP: Though it may be the town hall, a commercial of Adzukkii vs Hakkopatra is playing on TVs throughout, creating a bustling atmosphere. It also serves as sort of information desk.

Edgeworth: A commercial… Interesting.

Larry: If it’s playing, then can we watch it?

Maya: Feels like, “Ooh! Can we watch?”

KP: In the commercial, Adzukkii shouts, “Giga Moon Slash!” in a strangely gallant voice. The crescent on his head catches Hakkopatra off-guard, neatly splitting the natto-covered chopsticks in two. The full moon appears in the background, shining upon Adzukkii, making an imposing stance with his arms crossed. “Atsuki is a fine town,” reads a puzzling announcement that gives an odd sense of cool. (1)

[T/N: CM says: “Atsuki is a fine town, Come by just once.”]

Edgeworth: …!!

Maya: Whoooa!!

Larry: Wow! It’s so cool!!

Phoenix: (How?)

Maya: I don’t really get it, but it’s got this impact to it and looks really cool! Yep, yep!

Edgeworth: W-well, Atsuki Town certainly has shown its delightful side within this short period.

Phoenix: Where?

Edgeworth: …The atmosphere, I suppose.

Larry: If you make your own mascot, your office could get more clients, right?

Phoenix: If I need a mascot, I have Maya.

Maya: Mhm, yeah! He’s so cool… Hey, Nick… Maybe that old shopkeeper from earlier is selling some Adzukkii goods too? Let’s go buy some, please?

KP: “Uh…” I reply, “Well, if we do buy some, I could decorate the office…”

Maya: “Branding me as your own mascot… Hmph!” I say, “If you buy me some, we’ll call it even!”

Larry: That was easy.

KP: I’m being as easy as anyone would be in this case. Now, you’re free to spend time with Adzukkii or Hakkopatra as you will. To approach Adzukki, you might need to force your way in, though. Or if you just want to talk with people in here, that’s fine too.

Edgeworth: …While I am curious about Adzukkii, I think I’ll first ask around.

Larry: Since I feel for poor Hakkopatra who just wants to be “popular”, I go hang out with him.

Maya: I feel bad about that guy by himself, and I don’t think I should let Larry alone either. I’m not all that great with words, so I’ll go see Hakkopatra too!

KP: Then, I’ll start with Edgeworth’s side… And upon meeting some of the young ladies, they squeal, “Eep! He’s so hot!”

(Ladies: Eep! Hot guy! Hot guy!)

Edgeworth: Excuse me. Earlier at the market, I had heard of some valuable information regarding the Atsuki Shrine… however the legends behind it seem to have faded and been forgotten over time.

Girl: Ah, yes, that’s right. I’d like to know more as well, but the library isn’t open at the moment…

Edgeworth: Hm. So the library has reference material regarding it, you say? I had passed by Limestone Cavern as well and noticed there may be some places with something peculiar about them. I would like to explore more of such locations, but it seems they’re currently under construction.

Girl: I can’t say for sure since I haven’t looked around the library that much.. but I think there are books about the cave too.

Edgeworth: I see… Incidentally, just what sort of renovations are they doing? Perhaps exchanging around some items on display?

Girl: Um… Actually, it’s not the library itself, but there’s some work going on outside, so they can’t let in anyone. Or so I’ve heard.

KP: And I’m sorry that I can’t say much more about what that work is. I’m sitting at the tables in the back there watching you two, so if you need me, call me.

Edgeworth: So there’s more to it, is there…?

Maya: There is? Or isn’t there…? Sorry, I have no idea.

Edgeworth: If there really isn’t, I’d still like to investigate further at the library… Is there something I can roll for to get her to help?

KP: Roll for APPx5 or Trust?

Edgeworth: Hmm… APPx5, then. Ah, yes… Pardon me for asking so much from you, even if you may not have many answers for me. Thank you for your time. …If it’s possible, I’d like to visit the library… If I put on a disappointed face, perhaps it would be more convincing.

KP: Alright, roll.

[roll: Edgeworth, APP x 5 (85) -> 21, success]

Girl: Aaaaaah, um! It’s getting a bit late today and the town hall will be closing, but! Tomorrow morning, if it’s okay with you?

KP: She claims that “I could open up in secret then!!”

Maya: Getting away with it by his looks…

Edgeworth: Thank you, but… will it be alright? I apologize for leading you into this…

Girl: Oh, it’s fine! Um, but it would have to be before the tour buses arrive. Are you staying in town tonight?

Maya: We are! …right? Yeah.

KP: We’re staying at the same hotel, you know!

Edgeworth: Yes, at the hotel beside the marketplace. If it’s really alright with you, it would be a lot of help.

Girl: Yes!! It’s fine!

Edgeworth: Pardon me to ask such a big favor of you. You have my thanks. So tomorrow morning, we can go check the library.

KP: Yep. Around 8:00 okay?

Edgeworth: After I thank the young lady, I return to Wright and the others. I pass the information about the secret opening to him.

KP: “Leave it to you, Edgeworth,” to butter someone up. Alright, now let’s get back to Larry and Maya.

Larry: “Hey… You want to be popular, huh…” I talk to him in a hard-boiled style.

Hakkopatra: …I do want to. So I put on a costume…

KP: Hakkopatra looks in Larry’s general direction and answers with that gruff American villain voice. And then that line of sight moves to Adzukki. Maybe, probably.

Maya: The poor guy…

Larry: I know… I know, man. Looking off at them, thinking these things…

Hakkopatra: Yeah… Well, he’s not a bad guy, really.

Maya: (I’m not really sure what they’re talking about… but I think I get it…)

Larry: You know the guy inside?

Hakkopatra: He’s a friend.

Maya: They could even sometimes change places… but it looks like he’s just been passed off to the side.

Edgeworth: Must you be so blunt?

Larry: Friend, huh… Yeah, man, that’s harsh…

Hakkopatra: I’m even willing to share some natto with people. It’s so unfair.

Larry: And it makes me think of Edgey! He’s just popular for no reason, how’s that for harsh!? Edgeyyy!

Edgeworth: Popular…? With what?

KP: You do have high APP, after all.

Maya: (Hmm… If I did have to pick between Larry and Mr. Edgeworth… um, maybe I shouldn’t say.) So I’ll just go with Nick! Yeah!

Edgeworth: Maya… (2)

KP: Thanks for picking me.

Maya: “He does his job well and is pretty nice and is good-looking and all…” I end up saying.

KP: If you put it like that, even I’d think you mean Edgeworth…

Larry: And natto is pretty tasty…

Hakkopatra: Ehh… but he made Adzukkii popular with that imposing kind of attitude.

Larry: Hakkopatra… I’ll eat natto for breakfast tomorrow morning…

Hakkopatra: Thanks, my traveling brother… it’s natto with a little persimmon mixed in.

Maya: (Breakfast… just natto…?)

Larry: I join Hakkopatra in looking off.

Maya: I leave the two staring off and go back to Nick… “I’m back, Nick…”

Phoenix: Hakkopatra comforts Larry with a few pats on the back. “Welcome back, Maya. Looked interesting there.”

Larry: Thanks for the pat, man!

Maya: Yeah, Nick, it was interesting… but I didn’t really get them…

KP: Ahahaha. You don’t need to get where they’re coming from, Maya. By the way, Adzukkii is at the center of a group of high school girls chatting, “There’s gotta be someone inside, right?” “Well, duh!” He replies in that somber, gallant voice, “There is no one inside.”

Maya: A somber, gallant voice?

KP: Okay, so Larry and Hakkopatra have finished talking, Maya has come back and so has Edgeworth.

Maya: “Oh! Then, wow, really? As expected of you, Mr. Edgeworth!” I thank him about the situation with the library.

Larry: I complain, “So this is what separates popular guys from the rest, huh? Bleh!”

Edgeworth: “…What’s wrong, Larry?” I say to him.

KP: And I laugh, saying, “I’m glad he’s a prosecutor for these things.”

Larry: *hiss*

KP: Well, we’ve done all our wandering.

Edgeworth: So we have. …Aside from socializing with Adzukkii, we don’t have anything else to do here.

Maya: But Adzukkii is surrounded, isn’t he?

KP: Yep. When we get back to the hotel, it’ll be dinnertime. How about we approach him for a picture before we go?

Larry: Well, Maya can reach him for sure!

Edgeworth: …Maya, we’ll leave you in charge of taking the photos, then. (3)

Maya: Huh!? But people are packed around him… wouldn’t going in alone be…?

Phoenix: You should go with her.

Edgeworth: W-why must I go!?

Larry: I’m not getting anywhere near that guy!

Phoenix: “Come on.” Why don’t you guys just hold hands and walk in there?

Maya: You’re coming with me, Mr. Edgeworth? “Hooray!” I say, “Let’s go, let’s go!”

Edgeworth: Mmph… Oh, very well. Maya, I’ll go with you.

KP: So in just a bit, your chance to talk with Adzukkii comes around.

Larry: I send Adzukkii a loser’s aura!

KP: And Adzukkii as usual maintains his regal cross-armed stance and says nothing.

Maya: Yaaay! Can I shake your hand?

KP: As you say, I assume. No matter what he’s asked, Adzukkii moves in a dignified manner and slightly turns his head to you.

(Larry: C-cool guy…)

(Maya: So cool…)

Maya: Yay, handshake! Mr. Edgeworth, you try it too!

Edgeworth: N-no, thank you, I’d rather not… However, coming over here just to do nothing may be a bit rude…

KP: Adzukkii silently but firmly grasps his hand in a cordial handshake. Though he may be a mascot, he doesn’t seem to like exchanging handshakes.

Larry: That’s harsh.

Edgeworth: …!!

Maya: W-whoa!! Nick! Picture, picture! We need to commemorate this moment!

KP: “Yeah, yeah,” I say, as I tell you to move in closer. Hey, Edgeworth, make a peace sign. The two of you standing like that makes it look stiff.

Larry: Yeah, Edgey!!

Edgeworth: Mmmph… Um… I make the peace sign.

Maya: And I do too, saying “Yay, yay!”

Larry: Come on, Edgey! Make it double!

Edgeworth: No.

KP: “Okay, ‘Cheese’!” I shout with enthusiasm, taking several pictures. Probably with a digital camera, would make sense. And now we have pictures of the imposing stance of Adzukkii at dead center, and beside him are the two squeezed together making peace signs.

Maya: Woohoo!

KP: Larry, how about a picture with Hakkopatra?

Larry: Oh, sure… I’ll take one with him!

KP: “What a dreary image,” I think to myself, but we now also have a shot of an excited Larry and his new best friend Hakkopatra.

Larry: Yeaaahhh!

KP: Since it’s autumn, evening comes pretty quickly. It’s a beautiful time with red skies and red leaves.

Edgeworth: Hm… We’ve certainly overstayed our time here. Let’s head back.

Phoenix: I’m looking forward to dinner.

Maya: I am too!

Larry: I’m starving~! I’ll just be having natto!

KP: When we return to the hotel, we relax and enjoy a peaceful dinner. There’s all sorts of food from the mountains, like wild vegetable tempura and a little hot pot.

Larry: Whooo! Just like in a hotel!

KP: The staff are very helpful and inviting, and they may already have a table for us.

Edgeworth: We’re thankful.

KP: There’s white rice in a bowl, so you can help yourselves. And you may discuss about “Tomorrow we’re going to the library” or “How are we going to share the rooms” or “You want to stop by the springs” or whatever.

Edgeworth: I advise that while someone’s off bathing, they should be accompanied by someone. As I mentioned at the very beginning, that is… regarding the rumors about how people don’t return after coming to this town…

Larry: T-the bad rumors are back!

KP: I frown a bit, saying “It’s probably for the best that Maya not go in alone,” while the bath starts to bubble.

Edgeworth: “Yes, it’s preferable that anyone not move around by themselves. I’m a bit bothered by that odd saying the locals pass around, 'Not one soul may touch the artifact.’” …I relay to you.

KP: “Then, tomorrow we’ll stay together in a group as well.” I particularly tell Larry.

Larry: I know, I know!

Edgeworth: Knowing you, you’re too unreliable to count on that…

KP: After hearing what Edgeworth shared with us in the bath, we decide… not to head to the baths. How about just heading back to my room and eat the manjuu and mooncakes, and the non-minors can have sake?

Maya: I go with the tasty manjuu!

Larry: Manjuu are great, I think I’ll go buy some more later.

Edgeworth: As for me… I’m still on the job. I’ll pass on the sake.

KP: And I might just pester him with a silly grin on my face, “Edgeworth, have a drink~”, but before I get there, I just fall asleep.

Edgeworth: “You’re drunk. Get some rest,” I reply, lulling him to sleep.

Maya: “Oh! You’re hopeless, Nick!” I say. Do we lay out the futons?

KP: Where is everyone sleeping?

Edgeworth: If we could, I’d prefer we stay in the same room, but…

Larry: Edgey, you trying to hit us up in our sleep or what?

Maya: Can I stay in Nick’s room? He’s already asleep anyway, so I can sleep there, right…? I doze off!

Edgeworth: Wright is going to be out until noon, so it may be better that someone stays with him.

KP: So the two of us just fall asleep in my room, while you two huddle up in Edgeworth’s room?

Larry: Since I’m concerned about Nick, I think it’s better that I huddle up in his too.

KP: Then that would leave Edgeworth who hasn’t fallen asleep yet by himself… Well, splitting 2/2 should work.

Edgeworth: All in all, I suppose I’ll have to leave Wright asleep in his room and take Larry over to mine.

KP: Yeah. Well, you can take the rest of the sake if you want, Larry.

Larry: Thanks, whoo!

KP: Alright, um… Time to describe the start of the second day. The second day of touring, as you’re resting in the hotel, you wake up before the sun has risen. …Even then, outside your window, you hear the bustling of the town as it was during the day. Did you perhaps oversleep?

Edgeworth: This is bad. We’ve missed our appointment with that young lady!

KP: Well, yes. But this is the end of the fun tour. Now the real game begins.

Larry: C-Cthulhu is coming…
