Happy 7th anniversary of season two!
I’m going to ramble a bit here so bare with me.
I actually never properly played season one except for episode one(played it on Netflix and played ep1 after I got s2), but I’ve played all of season two so season two has more of a special place in my heart than season one. I played all of it, but I was confused who the characters who showed up in the beginning of the first episode were as I never knew episodes 6-8 existed at the time. Despite my initial confusion, I loved it all. There were parts that made me cry (the cabin scene) and parts that made me want to give up (fighting sequences because I was a baby at it). The characters impacted me in a way that still affects me now. Cue in 2020 (more than a year later than when I first played mcsm)…I decided to replay season 2 and decided to look up MCSM on google. If it wasn’t for season 2, I would never have discovered the rest of the episodes. If it wasn’t for season 2, quarantine would have been a lot more worse. If it wasn’t for season 2, I don’t think I would be the same person that I am today. So thank you Telltale for making this game.

one of the things that will always destroy me is people believing that good story = darker/more mature/more sexual. this belief has ruined so many stories that could have been amazing & has prevented almost everyone from enjoying other really good stories simply because the age range it's aimed at is one they believe can't have complex themes, characters, plot, etc etc. they don't believe they can be moved by something a publisher or studio decided is for kids & so write it off without even thinking about it. biggest curse of being a writer who actually loves stories & telling them is that literally no one else cares in the most pessimistic, higher-than-thou, capitalism brainrot way you can imagine. & it's all automatic. because that's just what you're taught.
#like people who love all kids media uncritically is another problem#but i find an even bigger one is people not believing animated stuff & younger age range stuff can impact you#like imagine trying to explain something you love so much it makes you cry#& every single time people react as if you told them something batshit off the walls insane like you only eat dirt or something#& they need to help you because there is clearly something wrong with you#& no matter how you explain it they always look at you like a crazy person#i feel like no matter what the kinds of art i love will always get shoved to the back of the closet#how i explain the hopelessness of trying to convince someone they're allowed to watch cartoons#but they're adamant they aren't because they're ''too old for that kind of thing''#it really makes me want to cry. & it makes me angry#anyways this is all to say that the minecraft movie is bad because people are afraid to interact with silly things in good faith#& complete 100% seriousness. they cannot take a concept like minecraft seriously#& so they can't see what it's REALLY about#it's not just haha silly block animal & because they can't see it as it is without the filter of ''for kids''#it will be a bad movie. & it won't represent everything everyone who grew up with that game sees in it#i hate seeing a huge problem & either no one else sees it or they do but just don't care because they don't think it's a problem#it IS a problem. it's a HUGE problem that people think they're not allowed to play or have fun or interact with silly concepts seriously#please take shit seriously i'm crying & i'm begging. we could have had something beautiful#people's inability to acknowledge beauty just because the setting is. in their eyes. for kids. is literally ruining art#& i'm gonna start killing about it#Animorphs save me............................................

God, I hope patch DT msq is good.
#i just want to be able to talk about msq with good faith criticism again.#endwalker patch content breaking the trend of not being as good or better than base expansion was a fluke right?#we're gonna address the several elephants in the room of rushed plotlines that DT fumbled hard right?#we're gonna put in fun unique duties for u to play in instead of just making it all cutscenes right? cuz it's a game and therefore#an interactive medium right? u can even let me play as The Character Whose Name Summons Hellfire that's fine! that duty was fun!#and i love getting to see characters' unique strengths like that in gameplay!#some of my favorite story moments are from getting to FEEL the struggle of characters who aren't the wol! it's always impactful!#and we did not get enough this time.#all of her trials should have been interactive.#how cute would it have been to have to play as her trying to catch a llama? the spit gets on u and gives u heavy debuff.#how much fun to actually have to remember what ingredients went where and when they came in for a silly cooking mini game?#how RAD would that train scene have been if u had to play a duty to defend it with turrets and not just a cutscene!?#other expansions would have done this! this is why people were bored! half of it was low stakes non-interactive filler that didn't matter.#and the other half had no room to breathe and threw out insane shit with huge leaps in logic and felt contrived as hell bcs it was rushed.#just... be a cute beach episode but still be a fun game to play! or be the epic feelings jrpg but give shit time to marinate! pick! ONE!!!

I went into bg3 fully ready to have a good time and have done so despite many ways in which the game is not good and have not worried too much over various dramas about patch changes but my chill streak has finally ended and I am wailing gnashing my teeth etc. about patch 7 (the supposedly final one with story/content changes) not adding companion reactivity for any of the durge content in act 2
#gotta regain my chill about this. it doesn't change the good version of bg3 that exists in my head#but like. durge is literally the protagonist character. and a huge chunk of story is just bizarrely missing from act two#all the baddies recognize you and no one reacts#warden says you were an important guest no one reacts#kressa says she had a great time torturing you for weeks no one reacts#and it's so misaligned with companion reactivity for everything else. like#I am one of those players who goes around the camp circle talking to every single companion after anything even mildly important happens#to hear the couple of lines of dialogue they have about it#because they've got a couple of lines of dialogue about every plot development and significant moment in other companion storylines!#but they don't have a single word for enormous central plotline revelations about the player character#it makes the act 3 reactions bizarre too because everyone's shocked by what gortash says and it's like#literally everyone in moonrise was like 'oh hey it's you again' what did you THINK 😭#a lot of people complain about the resist!durge final scene after killing orin being lackluster#and yeah sure I feel it's lacking in a few ways but like. at least it exists.#a cutscene does play and afterwards the companions do react. ymmv on whether those reactions are impactful or fitting#but they do--crucially--exist#whereas in act 2 there is straight up nothing#when people say right in front of the companions 'hello fellow villain fancy seeing you back here again'#there is not even so much as a 'dude are you okay' after kressa talks about keeping durge prisoner and torturing them#okay okay it's fine I'm getting it out of my system I'm gonna be normal about this again#the companions had reactions in the good version that exists in my head 😔#scribblingface plays bg3#okay actually also like larian has made so many changes based on fans complaining a lot about something#often changes that made the complaining people happy but pissed off everyone who already liked the current version#not weighing in on the merit of various specifics but it has struck me as a sometimes odd and unwise degree of#listening to what the players want. like just tell your story and accept that some parts won't please everyone#but THIS THING is universally agreed on by every durge player#because it's not something 'wrong' it's something completely absent that should have been there in order to align with the rest of the game#and yet. we don't get this change in the final update.

really?? it's been so long since ive had a long rest cutscene and i dont even get one after everything with ansur???
#personal#please. i am begging for story progression#like obviously im getting a huge amount of actual story progression. ive finished every side quest and nearly every companion quest#all i have left are voss (and orpheus presumably) and gortash and... well that's gonna be the entire game right?#other than the final boss of course but that goes without saying#interesting listening to the elfsong camp song now. much to think about#hmm. i do think the first emperor identity reveal was more interesting and impactful#i feel like it took so long to get to baldur's gate and im not from here so its history is....not that important to me#BUT I DONT EVEN GET AN EMPEROR CUTSCENE DURING THE NEXT REST HELLO????#we had apparently mindblowing life-changing sex and we've talked like. twice since then

beat beegee three last night!
#mine#VERY LONG TAG RAMBLE INCOMING. WATCH OUT#anyway. i was and am absolutely blown away#i understood why its so beloved basically as soon as i started playing it but by the time i got to the end iw as like yeah#this deserves goty and all the actors and writers and everyone who worked on it deserves every award and 1 trillion dollars#it could be because of recency bias lol but i think late act 3 ended up being my favorite section of the game#which i wasnt expecting! lots of people seem to dislike it and i understand why (frame drops + overwhelming amount of content etc.)#but idk i really loved it. the iron throne and house of hope alone (i did those a couple days ago) were STELLAR#yesterday's tasks included killing gort and then going to the morphic pool and finishing the game and i was just enraptured the whole time#the morphic pool and everything that comes after it were just INCREDIBLE#one of the things that stuck out to me the most about the game the entire time i played it but *ABOVE ALL* in act 3#was the way it makes the stakes feel REAL#the companions are so well written and well acted that i felt genuine attachment to them and they had huge emotional impacts on me#like when i got to the pool i was actually kind of afraid of whatever was coming (i had a rough idea of WHO i would meet)#(but not what would happen or how the fights would go)#and when i turned to my companions and i was like umm. do you think we can do this#and shart was like yes we can :) think of everything we did. that wasn't luck that was US#and la3'z3l was like 'THE GITH WILL BE FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' i was like YES MAAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#and i felt so reinvigorated like i was still nervous but i was like well if they believe in me i can do anything#and i am#1 lae'zel defender (not that she needs a defender because shes insane in battle but you know)#so when she was like WE WILL WIN i was like OKAY!! YES WE WILL!! WHATEVER YOU SAY MAAM!! I LOVE YOU!!!#shes so cool shes like my awesome best friend who is not real but i love her anyway#shart is also my best friend but in a different way (i like to think her and my character just bonded really hard over the course of the st#ry especially both being half elves idk i just love them and by the end it seemed like they built a really beautiful friendship)#anyway back on topic. the stakes felt real because of the companions AND because of the npcs and attention to detail#for rp purposes i had my character keep a few notes in his inventory that were just from random unspecified npcs#but they were like 'dont let gortash win' 'i dont want to die to the absolute cult' etc. as like a remember what you're fighting for thing#i just felt so strongly pulled into the world of the game the whole time especially at the end i was like holy fuck#i gotta save all these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#r-type#r type#irem#shmup#snes#super r-type#1991#super nintendo#video game music#one thing that always stuck out to me with this track--even when I was a little kid playing this--is that the stage ends at about 1 m 40 s#as notorious as this game is for slowdown there's no way you'll hear the solo and all (idk if kid me ever thought of trying the sound test)#and as cool as the solo is...there's definitely a sense of foreboding as all the horns and all the bravado fall away before the boss appear#and one thing I'm realizing just now is how well it flows from there into the boss theme which has similar/same tempo#idk if it was ever intentional but it definitely had a huge impact and more than it would have if it had simply looped#so if you ever wonder ''what is it with jon and slap bass?'' the answer is that this is a like formative memory#stage 4's bgm is coded so it loops a short bit at the very end also forming a slap bass outro before the boss but kid me never got that far

#returnaledit#thea plays returnal#cw: long post#one final screenshot dump#can't believe it's done#gonna miss this game#i'll never be this good at a video game again#(mind you i'm still bad at it but the way I play this game now vs the first 10-20 hours is such a huge improvement)#probably the reason i didn't mind the grinding for the last few ciphers that much since I really wasn't ready to move on yet#this game will honestly always be in my top 5#it's had such a huge impact on me both in terms of pushing me to be good at a game in a way I never thought possible#and the story line itself having suffered tremendous grief a few months after starting it#(also you now... her being an astrophysicist with mummy issues and mental issues and burnout.... the callouts in this game^^)#so much of the story line became so personal#wish i wouldn't understand selene's endless cycle as well as I do now#but yeah#what a game
