Why I like them

How much do I love him, let me count the ways~ The big thing for me is that he’s such a surprisingly well-designed character when you get down thinking about it. Most notably, he’s got a unique personality and appearance which is both charming and yet also clearly villainous; he’s polite and witty yet manipulative and deceitful, smartly dressed in bright colours yet pretty firmly on the bad side. Everything he says or does is bursting with his tricky personality, every little gesture and facial quirk seems to have been animated with intent to just make every second of his screentime count (even though i wonder whether the creators and writers ever actually cared about him >:[ ) He is a gold mine of headcanons and potential, andI’m firmly in the camp that he deserves/d more recognition for his role in the series as a fine villain to play the sly brains to Dedede and Escargon’s more wacky and dumb shenanigans.

Why I don’t

The show, despite what I said just earlier, doesn’t really give much else about him and his motivations - Not exactly flat character, but it feels like in-canon he was missing that extra little bit of pizzazz in his writing. Like we never saw any other side of his personality that’s not his polished and polite business exterior with the occasional dash of sarcasm/snark, so in it’s easy to overlook him as more of a stereotype representative (which he kind of already is, but not entirely)

bruhhhh i don’t wanna choose XD Okay for real though, I enjoyed pretty much every moment he was there but the quiz episodes where he hosted the game shows were legend because it is where CS was at his most lively and had some interactions with the other cast members aside from just Dedede and Escargon. It was just the light-hearted tone of everyone in the show getting as close to one of those episodes where it was almost like they didn’t care which side anyone was on for that moment - nobody had much issue with CS being the host and CS clearly had a whale of a time hamming it up for everyone

Again, so hard to choose! God, all I can think of at the top of my head right now is him spouting dumbass squid and fish puns in the sushi episode - “How about squid pro quo?” He’s a pun demon just like me! >:D

Favorite outfit

…. (looks at all the non-canon outfits I drew him in so much because he never had any others aside from the kimono) Um. You know what, I do like his standard outfit which he was in for 97.5% the show. I gushed about it once before, but I love how he’s fully of weirdly bright clashing colours. Dark blue suit with orange shirt and glasses and pink tie? Fuckin purple and green ass looking hair?! He’s a bloody colour theory nightmare (hehe) and he feckin ROCKS IT son! I also like how it helps him both stand out and blend in with the dull and cold colours of Holy Nightmare he’s often standing in.

OTP

To be honest I suck major ass at any kind of real shipping and can’t really see him being with anyone… Don’t know if that’s a product of my inability to understand romantic attraction or if i actually think he wouldn’t :/

HOWEVER I do have a solution - an Enemy OTP! FoeTP, if you will 8D

So if y’all haven’e guessed by now after having to endure the Great HNM/HWC Sass Off earlier, I effin love the idea of Susie and Customer Service in some AU meeting up and having those moments where they look at one another from across the room and lock eyes.

You know how they say about meeting your one true love at first sight? Time slows down. Heartbeats race. Everything moves in slow motion, the lights seem brighter and sparkly, and it feels like the wind is singing a song.

Well, that happens, but instead the lights are like lightning bolts and the wind is more like banshees screaming. And they see each other and immediately think, “Ah, this is them. This is the person I have been waiting for all my life. The person who I will go to the ends of the galaxy to make their life HELL.”

Seriously, this guy has no notable friends or allies of any sort! Closest we get is Dedede and Escargon considering they talk to him the most, but I don’t see them being BroTP. Most is the possibility that in an AU where circumstances been slightly different, he’d have gotten along with Escargon who seems on his level of snark and they could bond as saltmates over Dedede’s nonsense

Head Canon

His senses are kind of more sensitive than standard: His eyes take in more light - another reason why he wears glasses, aside from needing them to mask his expressions - but even his taste and smell are pretty sharp. So his preferred diet can seem rather boring to normal people as the flavours are fairly bland or minimal. Not to say he can’t stomach something more intense, but it explains why he reacted so extremely to Kawasaki’s food.

Unpopular opinion

My most unpopular opinion round here appears to be that he oughta be more popular, dammit!! 

A wish

I wish we’d gotten to know a little bit more about him in the show, seen a little bit more of him other than just him sassing at Dedede and selling the demon of the week. Like having an episode seen from his perspective and showing off what life in Holy Nightmare is really like inside. Or an episode which had a situation with the good guys having to actively work together with him/HNM against a common threat and CS doing stuff that breaks the usual view of him. Basically, if he’d gotten more moments where he wasn’t just in his default ‘business mode’.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen

Well he’s already dead, so it can’t get much worse for him :| But I guess I don’t want him to be forgotten and erased from the Kirby fandom’s collective memory entirely or I will be very sad.
