Observations concerning Teletoon and CN Canada’s future up to Sunday September 9. Sources are Zap2It, TVPassport, and the websites of the respective channels.
All times are in Eastern/Pacific.
Teletoon:
- will be Johnny Test-free for seven (or eight) full days starting on Monday the 26th. After which, it’s one episode a day on the weekdays.
- Also on Monday regarding the weekday schedule (starting at 6 AM):
Teen Titans Go! will have the largest slice of the scheduling pie. On the weekdays it will be four and a half hours divided into three blocks of the
SAME. DAMN. SIX. FUCKING. EPISODES!
Fortunately, it will have its airing time reduced by 90 minutes (six episodes) on September 4.
We Bare Bears has the second largest slice with two hours divided into two even blocks (4 and 7 PM) of eight different episodes. Good.
Gumball’s back, finally. It’s a one hour block at 6 AM (and not stuck on the first two seasons unlike CN Canada on their weekdays). OK KO gets a half-hour morning block at 7:30 AM. Craig of the Creek now has a weekday half hour slot at 6:30 PM. Steven Universe returns to the weeknight slot at 8:30 PM after months of absence. It loses its weekend slot of the same time, though.
No Nexo Knights nor Ben 10. Plus, Unikitty loses its afternoon slot. *sighs*
Update Aug 27: They aired a commercial informing the viewer of a new COTC episode on Friday. That’s a lie. The schedule on their website lists The Curse instead of Ace of Squares.
- On September 1 and 2 (starting at 6 AM):
Teen Titans Go! again has the most airing time with 3 hours divided into two even blocks containing the same six episodes.
We Bare Bears has 2 hours divided into two 30 minute blocks (8:30AM and 3PM) and a full hour block (7 PM). Yes, there is variety. Gumball also has 2 hours, but it’s divided evenly into two blocks (9 AM and 3:30PM). Despite the first episode of each block being the same (a previously-unaired-on-this-channel season 6 episode) there is variety. Unikitty still has two 30 minute blocks, but one of them notably is pushed to a earlier slot from 8:30 to 6:30AM.
Ben 10 has a slot at 2:30 PM consisting of two episodes. Saturday only.
Craig of the Creek has a full hour 10 AM slot. Also Saturday only.
OK KO has a 30 minute slot at 4:30 PM. TKO on Saturday and You’re in Control on Sunday.
Wishfart is set to burn off the rest of their season two new episodes at a time at 8PM every Sunday.
- Labour Delaybour Day (starting at 6 AM):
An encore of Heart of the Crystal Gems airs at 11 AM. With maybe a Johnny Test episode shoehorned between Made of Honor and Reunited. Awaiting more information from the website’s schedule on the 29th. Update August 30: No sudden JT episode shoehorned in between. Thanks schedule, for now...
Teen Titans Go has two full hour blocks which contain the same four episodes.
Two hours of Pokemon S&M starting at 12:30 PM.
Cupcake and Dino and Bravest Warriors have a full hour block each to premiere their episodes. Afterwards, BW airs one new episode a day weekdays at 8 PM. Cupcake and Dino also take the 4 PM slot on Friday.
It’s probably also the last day that there’s a Marvel-related show on this channel (I guess DXD Canada will be the only place for such stuff)... However, the future of Justice League Action remains uncertain after Labour day imo.
- Starting on the 4th, Right Now Kapow will burn off what’s left of their sole, cancelled-a-year-ago season weekdays at 12PM.
- September 8 and 9:
Bunnicula’s back on the 8th at 11 AM.
Cupcake and Dino boots COTC off the 10 AM Saturday block while taking away the 4:30 PM slot from OK KO. BOO!!
Super Dinosaur air their new episodes at 3PM half-hour slot.
Teletoon at Night:
- Yet another McFarlane show appears on Sunday at 1 AM...
- Starting on September 3:
They’re no longer doing the one-show-a-day stuff on the weekdays anymore.
King of the Hill has a 9 AM slot. No repeat.
Futurama is gone...
CN Canada:
- This week they did a small graphic update. It’s only replacing the very low-budget schedule bumper with an even lower-budget, minimalistic one. At least they tell you what time the next shows air. Update Aug 25: They also last Friday updated the CN logo graphic that usually appears whenever a show plays and the words “Cartoon Network” are absent. Plus, they updated the Next/Then template that displays as the episode is near its end. Why are the Dimensional updates so slow...
- Starting on August 31:
After 9 months of occupying the full hour 8 AM weekday slot Johnny Test is gone for good.
Because a full hour Gumball block starts at 3:30 PM on Teletoon OK KO now occupies the full hour 3 PM slot on the weekend.
- When I looked at the channel’s website schedule I was surprised that Craig of the Creek has a block that lasts an hour and 15 minutes. I thought, “Thank god there’s no more Apple and Onion and Uncle Grandpa on Saturdays.” But then I realized something. This is where the batch of new episodes should be and not the reruns. Instead, fucking CN Canada actually did something yet infuriating again and put the new episodes to next Saturday and are again deceiving the viewers. I know because the PVR guide and Zap2It haven’t updated the changes (as per fucking usual). I guess A&O and UG return on the 8th... Update Aug 25: So I just found out that the US TV premieres of new COTC episodes were also pushed to next week. Understandable, but still bitter.
Adult Swim Cana- nothing to see here. Move along.
