SMG34: LIPBITE COMIC WIP UPDATE

oh boy... i know a bunch of folks are hyped for this comic... and boy oh boy are ya'll's prayers going to be heard... kind of... butt for the celebration milestone, and granted majority are from this comic, i thought it was best to give EVERYTHING that i have currently.

starting off STRONG with what you freaks most want: the completed pages. andddd yep that's it that all that i have done LMAO. i've been fixated on my own smg4 oc: tsb, and during the end of my summer was unfortunately fucked over by some personal issues that fortunately got resolved last minute good grief the anxiety prevented me from drawing the gays sigh... aNYWAYS LINEART WIPS!!!!

here are linearts i have completed / in the progress of!! want to aim like i did in the past by finishing up lineart first, and then speed through with color + minor rendering. the reason i have a few colored is to test out what it would look polished and my god... i have improved A LOT. THESE GAY PEOPLE GIVE POWER I AM NOT KIDDING BELIEVE ME IM NOT CRAY- anyways onto wip pages!

jumpscare: tsb stickman sketches. oh yeah. this is how i sketch and i blame sensei eiichiro oda /j. and in case anyone is unable to understand it {i don't blame u LMAO}, smg4 wakes up from the dream and is startled to see mario by his bed. they have a short convo before mario leaves, and we get a job to smg4 in the bathroom trying to put up a brave face. until the moment he leaves he's stunned due to seeing smg3 at his front door. will i elaborate more on specifics or unwritten dialogue? NOPE! gotta keep secrets to make it even more enjoyable at the end!!

currently at 13 sketched pages total, but this is probably gonna be reaching towards 20-ish pages, surpassing part two, but it will depend on how i come up with how to end it. additionally to confirm there will be a PART FOUR / chapter 3, to end this story. my goal is to have it done before i finish my senior year, or at least during the summer after i graduate bc good lord who knows whats gonna happen.

Wanna talk about mischaracterisation? They’re literally a comedic duo who interacts 24/7. Marchil is crazy bc ppl are like "did those shipper read with their eyes CLOSED?? They have no chemistry!" Meanwhile canon is like: "She’s obsessed with knowing everything she can about him and she reads him like a book." In her eyes he’s like that extra rare and hard and shiny unlockable dating sim character, that brooding mysterious character trope that’s thrilling to crack open and typically is at the center of the plot. The wife roleplay???? "Hey, did you know his type is blondes. Hey did you know he likes his women pretty and blonde. Hey did you know he likes her hair. Hey did you know that he teases her 24/7 and it’s one of the few things that consistently gets him grinning because he finds her reactions cute." Like a schoolyard bully pulling on the pigtails of the girl he likes.

It’s not like they have any thematic narratives or relevance. It’s not like she’ll live to 1000 and has existential dread about it while he’s logically gonna be her next friend to die at 50 and wether it’s romantic or platonic it’ll terrify her to lose him. It’s not like it’s fear of death x fear of rejection so they’re both obsessed with the thought of loss looming, past and ongoing. It’s not like it’s half-elf x half-foot and there’s an inherent journey that was and still is to dispel prejudices and truly come to see each other. It’s not like he’s painfully real and raw and flawed but still a good man, that he’s not the figure of prince charming that she’s always dreamed of while still being virtuous and worth fighting for. Or you know, her hair being golden and it being the epitome of beauty to him, and his hair turning silver and it being Marcille’s worst nightmare.

Just a weird wacky ship who means nothing but shallow things to people who have weirdo reasons for liking it. Like can you not. If you’re not imaginative enough to think of reasons why this ship may have an appealing dynamic that’s not my issue. But yes, yes, they’re both flat asses to me, thanks.

I finally watched Arcane Season 2.

And I

WAS

ABSOLUTELY

BLOWN AWAY!

First of all, can we talk about how goddamn PRETTY the show is?

You can pause anytime throughout the show and you'll get a beautiful wallpaper for your desktop. And I'm NOT kidding!

The way they used different animation styles, soundtracks, the colours etc is just fantastic. The music with the wonderfully animated fight sequences were just breathtaking. Kudos to every artist who worked on this show, they absolutely deserve their flowers.

As for the story, yeah, it seemed a little rushed. But I didn't mind it that much. It doesn't give you much time to process crazy shit that happens in the show. For example, when Heimerdinger and Isha sacrifice themselves, there isn't a single mention of them afterwards. Not even a passing remark. And mind you, these were not small side characters, they were important. But alas, they weren't treated as such after their deaths and I just can't wrap my head around that.

Some character arcs and choices were slightly confusing to me, but I don't dislike them. Like, why did Caitlyn suddenly change her mind about VI and decide to help her, why did Viktor go from wanting to help the undercity to taking away everyone's choice by making them into mindless robots and why did Jayce straight up murder him instead of talking to him first, knowing that the man who saved him when he was little was actually Viktor from the future? (I was mad at Jayce for a bit, NGL)

Buuuuutttt, I loved a lot of things in this show. The sisterly love between Isha and Jinx, Jinx sacrificing herself to save Vi, Viktor revealing himself to be the mage who gave Jayce the rune stone and confessing that only Jayce can show him the right way in every universe and every timeline🥺, Jayce's "You're Perfect even with all your Imperfections" speech to God-Viktor and him choosing to save the world by staying with his 'partner' till the end, the entire episode of Ekko falling in love with Jinx/Powder in another universe, AMBESSA MEDERDA (if you've watched the show, you'll get it. She's such a bad ass!) and of course, Jinx's entrance in the final battle.

(I was girinning like an idiot throughout this whole sequence, cuz yeah, Jinx is so cool!)

Overall, I really enjoyed watching this show and I can't wait to rewatch it in a couple of months. Even with its pacing and some plot holes, I personally loved Season 2 more than Season 1. This season was much more dynamic, much more beautiful and it really endeared me to characters that I didn't care for previously. I heard we're getting some spin offs, so I'm also looking forward to that.

Also, Viktor is my newest poor-meow-meow😁

Oh and please show some love to the artists who made these amazing songs for the show. Arcane S2 wouldn't have been as good as it was without them.

Okay. I might be very very very delusional. But I had to get this thought out bc I’ve been thinking abt it for a while

So at the start of the series, this is how Nobunaga is portrayed.

He’s chill and laid back, and doesn’t take it to heart when he fights with Franklin. He even smiles as he does it.

But after the death of Uvo, we never really see this side of him again. Only for brief moments. The only moments we really see of him smiling are the times where there’s a chance he could fill the emotional void left in his heart by Uvo’s death.

The reason he’s interested in Gon and Killua is obviously because Gon is like Uvo in a way, but also because they’d be a distraction for him. Getting to train these kids to be phantom troupe material would leave him no time to linger on Uvo’s death. And after that chance is gone, we never see him like how he was at the start of the yorknew arc. From his appearance in the greed island arc to the current one, we hardly see him with a smile. And if we do, it’s not the same as his old, relaxed smile.

And you could say that he was just excited for the mission, and he’s usually like his later yorknew arc self. But even after they get assigned their task, nobunaga is still seen with this carefree smile.

We even see him looking at Uvo like this (i know what you are)

Not to mention we also see him with this same dopey smile when he was a teenager

All this to say, Uvogin’s death left such a deep emotional scar on Nobunaga it changed his entire personality and overall demeanor he’s had since he was a teenager.

Craziest part is that NO ONE else reacts like this. They’re sad and angry, of course, but they keep to the original personalities we see them with at the start of the arc. And I’ve seen some people say he was overreacting, which is kind of crazy, but Nobunaga was the closest to Uvo out of everyone. He outright says in the 1999 version that no one else in the entire troupe is closer to Uvo than him.

No one tries to correct him on this; they know it’s true. Same thing with the 2011 version, “I know him better than anyone.” which no one questions.

Their relationship was pretty complex. Franklin says they’d fight whenever they got paired together. But Franklin also knew they both enjoyed each other’s company despite that. Uvo preferred to fight alone, but he was so much stronger whenever he was fighting alongside Nobunaga. Having someone there to protect motivated him, even if he would never admit it. They were really comfortable with each other, as shown in the coin toss scene in the 1999 version. They exchanged quips, and we even got a scene of them smiling at each other.

Because of all this, I do think Nobunaga’s reaction to Uvo’s death made sense. I don’t know why so many people think he was being overdramatic. He lost the person that he was closest to. They were always paired together for missions. They were hardly away from each other. No wonder he feels so empty now. Nobunaga’s a valid crashout ngl
