☆☆Weather Behaviors☆☆
How does hot weather affect the brothers?
Even though demons can handle weather better than humans, we're talking about a group of man demon babies. The brothers and heat do not mix well. It puts all of them in a sour mood, more fighting takes place during hot seasons, the damage HoL takes during these seasons is insane. Its an all out brawl between the brothers when its hot, the only one safe is Mc, and that's if they don't get caught in the crossfire. Mc's job of keeping the brothers in check is so much harder when its hot in the Devildom, the brothers fighting isn't just confined to HoL like it sometimes is during cold weather. Instead the brothers will fight anywhere, HoL, R.A.D, a random street corner, it doesn't matter if the heat makes them angry enough a fight is breaking out no matter the place. During hot weather the brothers may avoid each other as much as possible, even the clingest of the brothers are not touching anyone other than Mc. Bonding between the brothers during hot seasons is rare but its not impossible. If they go to the beach or get ice cream together, they may bond a little. If they can cool down enough it it will be pretty chill, they'll all actually act like they like each other until they inevitably get hot again.
The brothers may do certain things to cool down that humans can't do. For example they may extend their wings if they have them so that the wind can blow against their wings, it helps cool them down as their wings are a sensitive part of their demon forms. If the brothers have tails depending on the tail they may try and block the sun or heat with their tail, trying to create a small amount of shade for themselves. Other ways they may cool down with their tails is by licking them, the saliva wets the fur and then the wettness gets cool under a breeze. Both of these ways do not work for Levi's tail, Levi's tail is similar to a snakes or a reptiles tail in general. This means that Levi would likely put his tail in places with shade, whether that means under a tree or whether he makes the burrow himself it does matter, as long as his tail is under shade he'll be cooler than he previously was. Other methods of cooling that Mc may find that all brothers do are things like: panting, humans pant occasionally but animals pant often, some animals can't sweat so panting is the next best method. The brothers can sweat, but i feel like some brothers just prefer the panting method when it comes to cooling down. Animals like dogs sweat through glands in their feet, the brothers may have specific places that sweat more than others. Some of the brothers may sweat more than others and some may rarely sweat at all, it really just depends on their demon forms and what animals their demon forms take after. Dogs some times sweat through their noses, which is why you'll occasionally find a pup with a wet nose. Now it might seem weird for a demon to have a wet nose but I can see it happening. Every demon is made to appear different in some way, so not all demons will sweat through their nose, however some will, its an interesting experience.
Places in the Devildom that have water are packed during hot seasons, demons flock to water just like animals. Even demons that you wouldnt think would swim can be found swimming if it gets to hot out. Demons may also do something similar to hibernating, they'd most likely call it "heat naps". If you're sleeping you're not making yourself hot by exercising, so some demons sleep more during hot seasons. These heat naps usually take place under a homemade burrow, just a bunch of pillows and blankets on top of them to try and keep themselves cool. All demons shed more during hot seasons, Mc almost thought the brothers were going balled the first time they experienced it. Demons hair grows and thickens during cold seasons, and when hot seasons come their hair just starts falling out. You know how cats shed? Imagine that but 100x worse, at least some cats have short hair, imagine getting one of these hairs in your mouth. During hot seasons Mc is constantly covered in the brothers hair, give the rollers that clean hair to Mc for christmas to save them some money during hot seasons.
₊ ⊹Affection Behaviors⊹ ₊
How do they behave when being affectionate:
The brothers or just demons in general have plenty ways of showing affection that may seem "animalistic" to Mc, purely because humans dont tend to show affect these ways, it may even sometimes remind Mc of how a pet would act. Some of the acts of affection are commonly done by all the brothers, while other acts are only done by one or two brothers. The brothers have different ways they like to show affection such as; Mammon, Levi, Satan, and Belphie may show or ask for affection by nuzzling their head against Mc. I can see the others doing this at some point, but these are the ones that do it the most. Asmo or Beel may randomly lick Mc to show their affection. The others may do this but its more of teasing manner when they do it. Lucifer shows his vulnerability to Mc, now that may not seem like affection but for this prideful demon it means he trusts and cares for Mc dearly. The other brothers do show valnerability to Mc, but its just different for Lucifer.
Some of the brothers behave almost like a pet dog sometimes. If Mc goes out they may come home to find one brother or multiple brothers waiting at the door for them. I don't see Satan and Lucifer doing this to often, but they will also occasionally be waiting at the door for Mc. Mc gets followed around by the brothers often, just like a dog follows its owner around. The brother doesn't even have to be talking or intereacting with Mc, but if Mc leaves the room then they'll leave the room too. Now again Satan and Lucifer won't be as bad about it as some of the brothers may be Mammon Belphie but the two will still do it sometimes. Imagine Mc gets up and leaves the room and every single brother follows behind them like a dog on a leash. Some of the brothers may even jump in excitement when they see Mc after a long time. Personally I could only see a couple doing this like Mammon, Asmo and maybe Levi. The others may shake in excitement, i can see Levi, Belphie, and Mammon doing this. The rest of the brothers would show their excitment differently so their excitment might not be that obvious. Imagine Mc comes back to HoL after being gone for awhile just to find one of the brothers waiting for them jumping or shaking in excitement before they tackle Mc to the ground. Mammon, Beel, and sometimes Levi like to have their belly rubbed, they'll roll over like a dog and everything. Beel and Mammon like to play, like either play fighting or playing catch. Mammon, Levi, Belphie, and Beel if he doesn't think he'll crush Mc will all sit on Mc's lap no matter how short or tall Mc is. Beel, Mammon, Levi and sometimes Belphie will lay their head on Mc's knee or hand in attempts to get Mc's attention.
Some of the brothers behave more like a pet cat, for example Belphie, Satan, and Lucifer all do the slow eye blink. If Asmo, Lucifer, Satan, or Belphie exposes their belly to Mc then their showing their trust and affection. Unlike the other brothers these 4 don't really like having their belly rubbed but Mc may occasionally get away with rubbing their belly. These 4 mostly just do it to show Mc that they trust them and are comfortable being vanurable around them. All the brothers make a purring sound but Lucifer, Satan, and Levi purr the most. Mammon, Satan, and Belphie will head butt Mc affectionately. Literally anywhere, on Mc's arm, Mc's forehead where ever it doesnt matter, just as long as they get Mc's attention. I can see all the brothers giving love bites but Belphie, Satan, Mammon, and Lucifer give them the most. Now I know some people probably don't think Lucifer would bite Mc randomly, but I can see him giving them when its just him and Mc alone. Satan, Belphie, Levi, and Asmo will rub noses with Mc. The other brothers have occasionally rubbed noses with Mc but those 4 do it the most. All the brothers will nuzzle their face against Mc, it doesn't matter where they will anywhere. Belphie, Satan, Asmo and sometimes Lucifer will "paw" at Mc when they want Mc's attention. Some wont say anything they'll just keep rapidly touching Mc's hand or arm until Mc pays attention to them. You know how cats will bring you something they killed? Well I can see this happening it's probably Beel, Mammon, or Belphie that does it. Now the other brothers may bring Mc a token, but they never brought Mc anything dead. The other three just didn't understand that humans don't do that. The brothers that bring regular tokens the most are: Mammon, Satan, Lucifer, and Asmo. Mammon learned his lesson like a smart boy and hasn't brought Mc anything dead since the first time.
The brothers are really bad about stealing things that smell like Mc so they can lay on them. All the brothers have done it at least once but the ones that are the worst about it are: Mammon, Belphie, and Levi. If Mc goes away to long they'll come back to everything that smelled like them being missing. Mc will have to go door to door to collect their belongings back, and some brothers may even fight Mc over keeping the items. All of the brothers are territorial over Mc in an affectionate way of "thats my human don't mess with them". If the brothers let Mc groom them then it means they trust them, this really matters for brothers like: Asmo and Lucifer. Those two really have to trust Mc to let Mc alter or mess with their apperance, even if Mc is just trying to help and clean them up.

In general, how would you approach writing nonhuman/feral characters with disabilities? How would you balance the symptoms animals usually show vs human symptoms, experiences and available accomodations?
I'm considering giving my Warrior Cats character with TBI-induced blindness (yes, I know, these books are awful about disability rep and yet I can't help but get attached) a guide animal of some sort, but... in real life blind cats can get by just fine using their whiskers, and though realism isn't a concern here, I'm worried that'll come across as nonsensical. However, I'm personally uncomfortable with writing yet another blind character that doesn't need mobility aids despite not being able to distinguish objects from one another "properly". He may not be totally blind, but I feel like I'd be contributing to the misconceptions surrounding my own condition that way. Thoughts?
Thank you for your ask! In real life animals, including cats, have been known to assign themselves as a guide for a blind packmate, usually walking on the side with less vision to help with navigation. Sometimes an animal of another species will act as a guide, but only if they’re bonded. This also occurs more often in domesticated animals, so if you don’t want the guide to be another cat you could do something like a dog, chicken or rat (though I’d imagine the last two would be hard to keep in a cat pack!).
You could also have your character able to move around unassisted in familiar areas that he is often in, but need assistance in unfamiliar areas.
As for writing your character, I’d say research how his injury affects his other senses. Touch, smell, hearing and limb movement can be affected by a traumatic brain injury, and it would definitely affect your character's ability to get around.
As of now, this blog unfortunately doesn’t have any blind mods (applications are still open as of posting this). However, you can check out other blogs for more information on blindness, such as BlindBeta, AskABlindPerson, and Mimzy-Writing-Online.
Have a lovely day!
Mod Rot
Hi!
When talking about TBI induced blindness, you have to keep in mind that it's different from ocular blindness. The brain-based type of blindness is called CVI, or Cortical Visual Impairment, and it's very common!
(Note: I have done a lot of research on CVI, but I don't have it myself. I heavily encourage you to check the blogs that Rot mentioned!)
A CVI will often have different symptoms than ocular blindness. For example, the character's field of view could be severely limited - the left (or right, or top, or bottom...) half of their vision could be non-existent, and the other half could be what is sometimes described as "incomprehensible". It could also present in infinitely different ways from that, as it can be very diverse!
CVI is often fluid and the person (or cat) can function very differently depending on the circumstances like fatigue or stress or even the weather. If he's having a horrible day he will be able to understand the visual input less than when he's doing fantastic.
With CVI, it's important to remember that visual acuity generally won't be the main problem, but the brain's comprehension of the image is. This is where cat-available accommodations can hopefully come in.
Showing him experiencing visual fatigue and how he deals with it could be one of them! During his kitty activities he could prefer to have them spaced out so that he only sees one at a time and makes it easier for his brain to comprehend without tiring him out. A cluttered environment would probably only make it worse, so you can have him make sure that everything is nice and in its place. He could also take longer to recognize new objects or cats.
If he has, for example, very limited field of vision, then he could have his kitty house (I don't know how warrior cats work I'm trying my best here) arranged so that it would work for him; i.e. everything being on a specific height.
I also very much agree with Rot that he should have more symptoms than just blindness! One example of a brain-based cat disability could be cerebellar hypoplasia; it can't be caused by a TBI, but it causes ataxia which can be a result of a TBI (mildly complicated, sorry). Either way you can use it as a reference to visualize how your character could move!
I hope this helps! I really appreciate the effort of trying to include disability accommodations in a character who's a forest cat.

Unlock Your Dog's Herding Potential: Tips for Beginning Their Training Journey
Discovering the Herding Instinct in Your Canine Companion: A Training Roadmap
Attention all dog owners and enthusiasts! Have you ever wondered why your furry friend loves to follow the pack, whether it's a group of humans or fellow canines? Well, get ready to unleash the secrets of your canine companion's herding instinct. In this exciting blog post, we will embark on a training roadmap that will not only help you understand this natural behavior but also harness it for a more harmonious life with your pup. So grab your leash and join us as we discover the fascinating world of the herding instinct in dogs!"
Introduction to the Herding Instinct in Dogs
Herding is a natural instinct for dogs, and many breeds have been bred specifically for this purpose. However, even if your dog isn't a herding breed, they may still have strong herding instincts. If you're interested in harnessing this instinct and channeling it into a fun and rewarding activity for both you and your dog, read on to learn more about the herding instinct and how you can get started training your dog in this fun sport.
As pack animals, dogs are naturally inclined to work together in a group. The herding instinct is an extension of this natural pack behavior. When left unchecked, the herding instinct can manifest itself in undesirable ways such as nipping at people's heels or rounding up children into a "pack." However, when channeled into positive outlets such as dog sports or working activities, the herding instinct can be a wonderful thing.
There are many benefits to training your dog in herding. For one, it provides mental stimulation and physical exercise for your dog. It also strengthens the bond between you and your dog as you work together towards a common goal. And finally, it's just plain fun! If you think your dog might enjoy herding, there are a few things you'll need to get started.
Identifying Your Dog's Herding Instinct
If you have a herding breed dog, chances are high that he or she has a strong herding instinct. Breeds like Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, and Heelers were all bred for their herding abilities, and as such, these instincts are very strong in these dogs. But even if your dog is not a herding breed, he or she may still have a strong herding instinct.
There are several ways to tell if your dog has a strong herding instinct. One way is to simply observe your dog's behavior. Does he or she tend to herd other animals? This includes both livestock and other pets in the home. If your dog is constantly trying to round up the cats or nip at the heels of the family sheepdog, then chances are good that he or she has a strong herding instinct.
Another way to tell if your dog has a strong herding instinct is to take him or her to an open area with plenty of room to run. Once there, let your dog off leash and see what he or she does. If your dog immediately starts running around in circles, chasing his or her tail, then this is another sign that he or she has a strong herding instinct.
Establishing a Positive Training Environment
A positive training environment is essential for teaching your canine companion the skills they need to be a successful herder. Here are some tips for establishing a positive training environment:
1. Make sure you have plenty of time and patience for training. This is not a process that can be rushed.
2. Choose a quiet location with few distractions where you can focus on working with your dog.
3. Be consistent in your commands and expectations. Dogs learn best when they know what is expected of them.
4. Reward your dog's good behavior with treats, praise, or playtime. This will help reinforce the desired behavior and make it more enjoyable for both of you.
5. Avoid punishing your dog for mistakes. This will only lead to frustration and may cause them to lose interest in learning altogether. Instead, redirect their energy into something positive like a puzzle toy or chew bone.
Developing Basic Commands and Training Skills
Assuming your puppy or rescue dog is healthy and already house-trained, the next step is to begin obedience training and socialization. Start with the basics – sit, stay, come when called – and move on to learning tricks like “spin” or “play dead.” Not only will this help cement the bond between you and your furry friend, but it will also give them much-needed mental stimulation.
In addition to obedience training, herding dogs need to learn specific commands in order to do their job properly. These can include “lie down,” “walk up,” or “stand still.” Some herding breeds are also trained to work livestock using whistles or other signals from their handlers.
The best way to train a herding dog is through positive reinforcement – rewards like treats or verbal praise for doing what you ask. Like all dogs, they respond best to consistency and patience from their owners. With time and patience, your herding dog will be ready to take on any challenge you throw their way!
Introducing Sheep and Cattle to Your Dog
Assuming your dog doesn't have a strong hunting or herding instinct, you'll need to take some time to introduce them to sheep and cattle. This is important because you don't want your dog to be afraid of the livestock, and you also don't want the livestock to be afraid of your dog. The best way to do this is by gradually exposing your dog to the animals. Start by letting them see and smell the sheep or cattle from a distance. Once they seem comfortable with that, you can move on to having them approach the animals while you're holding them on a leash. You can let them off the leash around the animals (in a safe area, of course). It's important to go at your dog's pace and not force them into anything they're not comfortable with. With patience and positive reinforcement, you should be able to successfully introduce your dog to sheep and cattle.
Advanced Techniques for herding Training
There are a number of advanced techniques that can be used to further develop your dog's herding instincts and abilities. One such technique is known as 'target training'. This involves teaching your dog to move in a specific direction or to target a specific object (such as a ball or Frisbee) in response to your commands.
Another useful technique is ' shaping', which involves rewarding your dog for progressively closer approximations of the desired behaviour until they are performing it consistently. For example, if you want your dog to jump over a hurdle, you would start by rewarding them for moving towards the hurdle, then for putting their front paws on the hurdle, and so on until they are jumping over it consistently.
Other advanced herding training techniques include 'scent work', which can be used to teach your dog to track and follow a scent trail; and 'obstacle course' work, which can help to further develop your dog's agility and coordination.
With patience and commitment, any dog can learn to harness their natural herding instincts - it just takes some time and effort (and maybe a little bit of extra cheese!)
Conclusion
Herding is a natural instinct in many dogs, and it can be fun to watch them as they learn new skills. With the right training roadmap, you can help your canine companion tap into their inner herding dog and discover an exciting way to bond with your pup. If you need help getting started, there are plenty of resources online to guide you through the process. So get out there and start exploring the amazing world of herding together!

The Alpha Male Isn't
New Post has been published on https://esonetwork.com/the-alpha-male-isnt/
The Alpha Male Isn't
You may have run into one of these guys.
Alpha Male Aquaman
They’re big, maybe bearded, scowling. “I am a dominant Alpha male by nature,” they say. “I’m a Bull… a primal hunter. I have no time for any liberal/democrat rhetoric or narrative. I don’t support BS movements and I bow to no one. I am a man’s man.”
They may have the suits, the Ray Bans, the Harley Davidsons, or the Hummers, but they’re not Alpha Males.
Why? Because there is no such thing as an Alpha Male.
And if you haven’t run into one in real life (or you aren’t under the delusion that you are one of those guys) you see them all over popular entertainment, and in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Comic Book movies in particular.
Captain Alpha Male
SF & Fantasy movies are littered with straight-up badasses that all the guys picture themselves as wanting to be (or, in their dreams, actually are). Conan the Barbarian. Captain Kirk. Batman. Tarzan. Aquaman. Wolverine. James Bond (not Fantasy? Think again, my friend!)
The list goes on. Surely these examples, as fantastic as they are, are pure and simple Alpha males?
The answer, my friend, is still; No.
So, how is it that I can say this with such certainty? It’s because the whole concept of the “Alpha Male” originally came about from research on wolves. Research that, it turns out, was flawed.
Rudolf Schenkel wrote about social structure and body language among wolves in 1947. Schenkel studied wolves at the Basel Zoo in Switzerland, where up to ten wolves were kept together in an area of 10 by 20 metres. He saw that the highest ranked female and male formed a pair, and that the hierarchy could change.
“By continuously controlling and suppressing all types of competition within the same sex, both ‘alpha animals’ defend their social position,” Schenkel wrote.
According to another well-known wolf researcher, David Mech, it was Schenkel’s work that gave rise to the idea of the alpha wolf, according to The International Wolf Center website.
Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman
In 1970, the book The Wolf: Ecology and Behavior of an Endangered Species was published, written by David Mech. It was a success. The book helped to popularize the alpha concept, which was soon adopted to human interaction.
The idea of an Alpha Wolf feeds naturally into human interaction. Among any group of men there is always a leader. The expression “Top Dog” is an idiom for the boss. In a competition, it is also the favorite or the one expected to win, and the opposite of the underdog. It may be a shorthand reference for a dominance hierarchy.
And it’s natural that male leaders would lionize themselves as “Alphas” and assume that this means that they represent some sort of superiority either in physical power, emotional dominance or, in a disturbingly high number of cases, genetic supremacy.
But it’s all nonsense.
You see, the research done on the wolf pack structure in the 60s and 70s was mainly done on wolves in captivity. These wolves were not necessarily related and were kept in an unnaturally small area.
Since that time, Mech had studied wild wolf packs on Ellesmere Island in Canada for 13 summers. He discovered that what was commonly called the alpha pair was simply the parents of the rest of the pack. As parents, they consequently led the pack’s activities.
Peggy Carter as Captain Britain
“Dominance fights with other wolves are rare, if they exist at all. During my 13 summers where I observed the pack, I saw none,” Mech wrote in an article entitled “Alpha Status, Dominance, and Division of Labor in Wolf Packs”.
The male will hunt on his own only when the female is nesting with the young cubs. And the male needs to hunt a lot because he ends up having to bring the majority of what he catches home to the family. When the cubs are older the male and the female share hunting duties equally. The cubs begin to hunt as well but they are not yet skilled at it so will hunt in packs until they get better, then will hunt on their own. But a young male hunting on his own does not catch much. It’s tricky for the lone wolf to survive and often times he only does because wolves are physiologically designed to survive on very little.
So what does all this do to the idea of the human “Alpha Male”? Well, it pretty much lets the air out of it.
You see, according to current research, humans look for some dominance in a potential partner, but only to assure that the potential mates are good providers. What turns out to be more of an attraction is kindness
T’Chala as a kinder, gentler Star Lord
The conclusions of a study by Jerry Burger and Mica Cosby suggest that woman do not want a demanding male, and only 12 percent wanted an aggressive person for a date and romantic partner.
Dominance is attractive, but beyond that, the big winners were easygoing and sensitive.
So, what does this mean for our SF, Fantasy and Comic Book heroes?
Well, what it means is just what we see happening. Less emphasis on the unattainable ideal of the “Alpha” hero, and more situations where men and women work together, and where sometimes the women take on the dominant role. More stories where consideration and kindness towards others wins the day over brute force.
More heroes like Captain America, Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Michael Burnham, or Frodo Baggins, who is no one’s conventional idea of an Alpha Male, but is a hero nonetheless. Peggy Carter as Captain America and Steve Rodgers as her devoted sidekick. T’Challa as Star Lord, who’s compassion, and sensitivity, paired with his action hero skills, helps make the galaxy a better place (and who even talks… TALKS… Thanos out of his idea to cull half the population of the galaxy).
The world is changing, slowly but surely and the whole idea of the “Alpha” male is slowly fading into irrelevance. Now and again we hear the plaintive cries of outraged fanboys who are desperate to hold on to the status quo, but it’s all for nought. Things are proceeding apace and those who cling to the past will get pulled further and further away from the “Now”.
There are no “Alpha” males. Might does not make right. One does not become dominant by being aggressive, demanding, or intimidating. These traits are, by and large, disagreeable.
Just like that other Rogers; Fred… Mister Rogers… said: When things get scary, don’t look for the “Man’s Man”… “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
