i think part of this is that there’s a sizable amount of transmascs whose mental model of transness (or sometimes queerness writ large) almost exclusively consists of ppl who were afab, so they wind up with blind spots that have them forgetting trans women and others exist often. im not wholly satisfied by this as a potential explanation but it explains phenomena like the “butches and transmascs are sisters siblings” posting and similar stuff that’s focused on this bioessentialistic centering of sex being accepted by a lot of otherwise ‘progressive’ trans ppl; like for that example it runs on an assumption that butches as a group can be defined through their sex as afab and that there is shared understanding and identity in that, which reads as immediately reactionary to ppl for whom trans women aren’t a permanent afterthought
