Peyton Anna Hyde, in the au no one asked for…
With her father’s loyalty, skepticism, and love of Zeppelin and her mother’s intelligence, quick wit, and compassion… Peyton is one confident kid.
The child who was always asking why and how she learned from a young age that questioning the status quo was a good thing. It sparked her early interest in activism, and has kept her on that path ever since. With a smidge of zen sprinkled into her headstrong determination to always fight for what matters to her. Whether it’s unfair bed-times, or against dress codes being enforced at school.
A lover of ripped jeans, rock music, good poetry, Neve Campbell movies, and root beer floats.
And while she’s a sharp witted quick thinker, she’s also taken a bit after her middle-sort of namesake by having a bleeding heart. Kitty might not literally be her grandma, but she sees her as one anyways.
Peyton has a tendency to be constantly annoyed by her little brother’s lack of concern about the world, and is trying her hardest to him passionate about something. Whether it’s climate change, or feminism, or even something small like sports.
She hates apathy, almost as much as she hates skinny jeans and the state of the music industry.

NaNo Support Show & Tell
This post is apart of the nano support group created by @thewriteblrarchives
questions start undercut as there is a lot! xD
Questions for You:
How long have you been writing?
I started writing in year 7, my friends and I made Star Wars personas (if you don’t know what that is, its essentially making your own character and dropping them into an already existing fandom). I basically wrote fanfiction with my friends and I’s characters along with the original characters. I wrote a book with two of my friends in the previous two years but we all don’t speak of that anymore (oh! The cringe! The cringe!). I took it more seriously this year and started created my own stories.
When you start a project, how do you start? With characters, setting, plot, aesthetic, something else?
I normally start with a small plot idea and a character I have in mind. Then I go and flesh it out, add some more characters and figure out the world. I love making aesthetic boards and edits for my characters (thinking about doing edit commissions... not sure).
What’s your favourite part of the writing process?
I think my favourite apart of the process is just seeing everything come together, seeing the characters interact and the world form.
Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever written?
Not sure about this one, I don’t typically write in overly strange places. I did sit in my Grandmother’s house’s dark hallway at ten o’clock at night. Not sure if that’s strange though.
Questions for NaNo:
Have you participated in NaNo or Camp NaNo before?
Nope! This is my first time, I didn’t really know it existed until this year.
What made you decided to join up?
I saw a few other blogs in preparation for it in September and decided that it sounded pretty cool and I wanted to try it out.
What are you most excited about/looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to getting started on an idea that I’m really proud of. I have never written something that big of a word count. I started writing short stories that were always a max of 5000 words.
Anything you’re a bit nervous about?
Yes! I think it’s just meeting the word count, I’ve decided to set my own personal goal of 25,000 words because I just don’t have the time to complete it.
Have you done a lot of preparation? Or none whatsoever?
I have done a reasonable amount of preparation. I’ve done chapter outlines until chapter ten and plan to add more as the month goes on. I’ve done character profiles with traits, backstories and a few random things.
Do you have a workspace, schedule, or a daily goal?
I write wherever I want to. Sometimes that’s my desk, bed, a desk in my house office or even the floor. As for the daily goal, it’s 1,500-2,000 words. I don’t have a schedule.
Questions for your WIP:
What’s your WIP titled (if it has one)?
Two Gold Kings.
Tell us a bit about your NaNo wip! For example the plot, genre, themes...
I actually have a wip introduction post on my blog but I’ll give you a quick summary!
Two Gold Kings is a steampunk-fantasy novel that takes place in two cities - that are located on two mountains - both ruled with their own king. Fifty years ago, I treaty was signed (by the kings who were previously in charge) to end a war that was devastating the two cities. The treaty united the two cities together and a bridge was built between the two cities
Magic is banned and anyone possessing such powers is seen as a threat to society. Therefore, they are captured and hidden from the people.
Theo Vonner is a boy from the streets and unlucky enough for him he possesses magic, the one thing both cities can mutually hate. Theo is drafted for a job at the castle for one of the cities, to help get his brother out of jail. He meets Evalyn and his aim seems even more possible, but another war is threatening to hit the cities once again.
That was a long summary lol. Basically, it’s got magic, a sweet gay romance and a rag-tag group of rebelling young adults.
What is your protagonist like?
Theo is an inventor so he’s a very smart boy lol. He hasn’t interacted with many teens his age as his parents were very cautious so he’s a bit blunt sometimes. He’s quite humble and grateful.
Evalyn, on the other hand, is playful and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She knows what she wants and how she wants it. She’s very alert of her surroundings and likes to know what’s going on at all times.
Have you been planning it for a while?
I’ve been planning it since the start of October so it’s been in the works of outlining for a while before NaNo actually started.
Thank you @thewriteblrarchives for allowing me to be apart of the Support Group. If you’re participating in NaNo and are wanting to join the group, there are still spots open just head over to their account to join.
