ok something im struggling with is why people are getting mad at the mentally ill people who fell into the idol corporations' trap of fostering parasocial relationship to the point of unhealthy obsession, instead of taking issue with the corporations that internalise that unhealthy obsession as part of their business model.
obsessives, delusionals, perverts and stalkers are their best customers, and not only do they do very little to stop them, they literally intentionally market idols in a way that nurtures these feelings (think dearu bubble for example, or SM's hotel with ai idols or whatever the hell they're doing).
companies won't stop sasaeng fansites because fansites are free photographers for them that generate hype. idols literally go trending worldwide just because a fansite dropped previews. companies aren't going to take legal action against some of their best free promo. obsessive fans that need to get into every fansign buy an excess of albums every time - companies would be wiping out literally hundreds of physical album sales just by banning one person.
bar the fans who actually trespass dorms or try assault idols, these companies DO NOT CARE. surely risking an idol's safety by encouraging these people is WAY more of an issue than mentally ill people down bad in a parasocial relationship (especially international fans when realistically no harm is being done to the idol, theyre just their own detriment - still not great but some of you are very overdramatic)
