took myself out to see gladiator two a couple weeks back and (despite being being someone who routinely watches twilight) think my brain just leans a little too logic–driven for movies because tell me why i could physically not move past the sharks in the colosseum. the water had me thinking but the SHARKS? spent the entire rest of the movie wondering about the logistics of it all. how did they capture them? how did they transport them?

#also spent the whole movie wondering if denzel washington was denzel washington #like guess i’ve never seen him in anything before so just wasn’t super convinced #think the wider problem was that for whatever reason i just could not suspend disbelief it was wild #the whole thing felt like watching people play dress up #which is. true but you’re not supposed to think about that #and any time it got close to pulling me in something else would happen to pull me all the way out #will admit it may not have been so bad if i’d seen the first one #but it wasn’t like it was confusing it was just. not great i think?#reviews from Movie People seem to be saying the same so #personal
