Thingol did imprison his extremely adult daughter because he wanted veto power over her romantic life. Like it does not stop being Real Fucking Bad just because his controlling abuse is driven by love.

See, the whole issue is that not only is B+L written like a fairy tale, and every characteristic of Thingol we get to see becomes completely contradicted for the sake of him needing to be the overly concerned/protective father archetype, he doesn’t even behave anything like that when he raises Túrin.

Eöl, on the other hand, is consistently a shit person.
