There's this one guy in one of my friend groups that's always calling people names 'as a joke', despite being told several times to stop, and is just generally not a great person. The other people we're friends with are too kindhearted to kick him out, so he just gets away with it and it pisses me off.

BUT

I recently figured out a way to sort of deal with him

He called my friend a bitch, and she was very Not Happy about it, but has given up trying to stop him. So when she went quiet, I added, 'And a boss'. Asshole guy said, "No, just a bitch". So I said, "A bitch and a boss, and she shines like gloss, what's not clicking?"

And he kept insisting "She's a bitch" and every time he did, I finished it with those dojacat lyrics and he got increasingly more frustrated until he left the call. Guess who stopped calling people bitches since?

#after he left we actually talked about trying to deal with him so im hoping this time it works #we've had so many interventions with this guy over the course of YEARS #he doesnt have any other friends #hes very much the kind of person who goes for people who are too sweet to stand up for themselves #and these friends are too nice to try and kick him out of the friendgroup because 'we're all he has'#not saying this is their fault at all! it just kills me that theyre so nice to him and he pulls this crap #but yeah. after he left we talked and i basically said im done watching him treat them like this #if he starts being an ass i will call him out. I will get in his face about it #i was a bit worried theyd be upset with me for being confrontational but they said they were fine/happy with it #and then we talked about ways to gently get him out of the group #theyre taking the reins on the planning for that im basically just security at this point #like if hes in call starting shit they'll message me to hop in. if he does something when im around now i fully call him out #hes starting to act nicer when i join #god its such a relief to not have to hold my tongue now #people who are sweet and sensitive are incredible and people who take advantage of that make me so mad #'maybe they shouldnt be so sensitive' maybe you shouldnt be an asshole how bout that?
