SASUKE AND BATMAN

Consider: Sasuke gets reincarnated as Bruce Wayne, experiences a second round of traumatic parent deaths, and swears off killing because he knows he'd never stop otherwise. Then, oh nooo, a series of orphans that look just like if he and Naruto had kids? What is supposed to do, walk away?

(It's also got a few background crossovers. If a hacker is named Hardison and a coroner is Danny Nightingale, then that's none of my business.)

Here's a bit, for fun:

“Granville is outside,” Tim murmurs as he passes. "He's going to make contact tonight.”

“Good work, chum.” Bruce hides his scan of the room with a sip of champagne and wanders towards the ballroom’s open air side. Granville’s greying hair isn't easy to pick out, but he's got the thin, wiry look older Gothamites get when their functional muscle gets eaten away by enough rogue chemical attacks. That's not common for gala guests who spend most of their time abroad, in Diamond District high security penthouses, or in Bristol.

Granville finds him by an ugly vase Dick has unfortunately avoided breaking through some cosmic mystery.

“Wayne,” Granville says. When the older Gothamite shakes hands, his badge and gun are visible for a moment. “Got a moment?”

“Always,” Bruce says, and leads him outside to where it's quieter. “What can I do for you? Please tell me it's taxes and I can fork over some of my net worth, because this is getting ridiculous.”

“Hm? Oh, no, The state of new Jersey actually owes you-”

Bruce has to put all his focus into not crushing his glass. Darn. He was so sure this would work.

His guest’s tone shifts. “-but that's not why I'm here.”

“Not the party? You should take a moment to enjoy it, with the stressful job and all.”

“No, but I'm glad you were willing to make the time.” Granville isn't particularly common in Bruce Wayne’s circles, but the head of Gotham’s FBI branch has survived by hanging onto his anonymity wherever it's available. FBI agents in this city are either good at their jobs and dead, or selectively blind. The bad ones are barely agents. A good portion of their force are Probies sent out to get hazed or scared straight, depending on circumstances.

“Always.” Bruce manages a smile. Granville ignores it.

“I'll cut to the chase, Wayne. Gordon and I both know you're funding the Bat. We lost contact almost half a year ago now, and we need leverage to pull him into a meeting.”

Bruce tilts his glass so the bubbles inside drift upward in a shower of pale gold. “I'm not sure what you're trying to say?”

“I don't have a way to threaten the Bat into putting kid-gloves back on, but we both know you do. I'm asking to borrow that.” Granville sets his forearms on the watered railing so he can glare past Bristol’s gardens. City lights glitter far beyond. “Hate that I have to. It's not how we should be doing this, but when has this city ever played easy?”

“You… want me to threaten Batman.” Bruce furrows his eyebrows. “Me? I'm not exactly a blackbelt in anything.”

“It's off the books and puts you at risk, but people are getting hurt in Gotham, Wayne. Gordon thinks that's enough of a reason for you to act. Figured I'd ask.”

And hope for a miracle, Granville doesn't say. It might just be Bruce's imagination putting that line in.

Bruce turns, leaning back against the railing to face the opposite way from Granville as he thinks. Inside the ballroom, high society mingles in orange and yellow warmth, glitz and glamor painting distraction over the networking bloodbath of a reality.

The crowds part long enough to show Tim, wine glass of sparkling juice in hand and attention locked on Bruce. Socialites mill between them, but the kid stands firm.

Challenging.

Is he listening in?

“I fund the Justice League,” Bruce says as he fidgets with his cuffs. No bugs yet. Huh. “Batman- he's a member, right?”

“Yeah. You fund ‘em.” Granville has to know who is currently in the League, but this is a very competent player of a game Bruce can only imagine. Nobody chooses to willingly stay in FBI’s Gotham ranks for long. Their city is the first pick when agents who can't be fired for whatever reason get reassigned.

Tim stands in the orange-gold light of the gala, as dancers whirl past. He raises a glass in silent toast to Bruce.

A challenge and blessing.

“I'll call them,” Bruce decides. It feels like choosing to live.

“Good man.” Granville lets out a measured breath, and turns from the distant city lights to clap Bruce's shoulder. His eyes skip over the gala, but Tim is long gone.

“I try to be.” Bruce smiles. “So, you want Batman to get a kid?”

“Get-?” Granville’s eye twitches. “I said, get the Bat to put kid gloves back on. Not get a kid. Goodness.”

“Okay,” Bruce says as dubiously as he can manage. He tucks a fist under his chin to really sell it. “Are you sure you didn't mean both?”

“Yes. Don't tell the Bat to snatch a kid off the streets-”

“I just think it would fix him.”

Granville stops with his drink halfway to his mouth.

Sets the glass back down on Wayne Manor’s railing.

And says, “is… is that why you…?”

Bruce waits.

“Not my business,” Granville decides quietly. “I'll call you tomorrow, Wayne. Thanks for helping us out with this one.”

Bruce thanks everything above and below the earth that Tim has come into his life. If this happened a few weeks ago, he would've blown off Granville at the start and buried the FBI Agent’s entire career. As it is, he drops a layer of Brucie and nods.

“Cheers,” he says, and takes a sip. 

Granville downs his own glass in answer and heads to the outdoor stairs, avoiding the party entirely. He must've come just for Bruce.

Bruce absently checks for bugs and finds one under the railing. The second is under his collar where Granville patted him.

“What do you think, kiddo?” Bruce asks, tapping a warning about listening ears onto his glass.

“Asking for Bat interference from Bruce Wayne takes the kind of heart Gotham needs.” Tim melts out of the shadows, confirmation drummed against the railing. “He's not stupid, you know. Granville is the head of the FBI in a city you all but own. Any favor asked of Bruce Wayne? Stupid dangerous for him. There isn't a single thing he could appeal to besides your mercy, but he walked in confident that you’d at least choose neutrality between the law and the Bat.”

Bruce raises an eyebrow. “Uh, mind dumbing it down a bit for me?”

“I like him,” Tim decides. “He's good at profiling. It'd only work with a big softie who can inflict his own adoption problem on the locals of his choosing, and you're fantastic at misinterpreting instructions with the best of intentions. Honestly, I'd set HR’s recruitment team on him if he’d let me get away with it.” 

“...Still a bit much, Timbo. It's a little late, and I'm getting into those silver fox years.”

“You barely have greys, Bruce. And I meant that he read you like a book.”

“Oh, yeah! Neat trick, isn't it? I bet he cleans house at Poker.”

Bruce gives a more genuine approval through a hand on Tim’s shoulder. Ideally it'd ground the kid, but really, Tim is acting as more of an anchor for Bruce. It's the way of things.

“Huh. You never struck me as a Poker player.”

“I guess that's the Gotham in me.” Bruce chuckles, hating how fake it sounds. “This city, I tell you.”

“It has good people.”

“I think I like him, too,” Bruce decides. “There's this kind of… charm, I guess, to people who take risks. Us adrenaline junkies need to stick together.”

“Mhm. He cares. That's why he was willing to bet you do, too.” Tim leans into the hand on his shoulder, then freezes as if he's been caught stealing Alfred’s cookies red-handed.

The kid is so touch starved. Bruce squeezes his shoulder.

“Huh. Do you think he was right… about… uh. Whatever he said. Think he should’ve asked someone better at tracking this sort of thing?” It's not fair to ask, but he's curious.

“No. Duh,” Tim says, shrugging. “Caring is why Lady Gotham chose you. It's why you did the whole fund-the-League schtick.”

Bruce swallows his guilt so it can rest with the other poisons in his stomach. This is a painful way to find self reclamation, but he tries to scrape courage off the backs of his teeth anyway. There's a kid counting on him to care now, and consequences if he fails. Tim deserves better.

For that alone, Bruce will try to mend bridges.

“Tim?”

“Yeah?”

“Jason would've hated this party.” Why did he say that.

“He would've,” Tim says with the fervor of a kid asked to infodump about their special interest. “I once found him in a hedge maze at one of these things with a copy of Much Ado About Nothing. Nobody goes into gala hedge mazes unless they're hoping to get lost or drunk.”

“Dick always said that was what rafters are for.”

“Dick was a child Olympian who grew up in the circus, then a manor you retrofitted into a child-proof gym, Bruce. He has a skewed perspective on sulking hideouts. I always found Jason with the cars or behind a bush.”

Bruce sighs. “And I found you at that concierge in France.”

“Don't be pedantic, Bruce.” Tim looks down into his glass, a little melancholy as he slouches closer to the bug. “I chose you as a father figure, not the other way around. That coffee was bait, pure and simple. I'm just lucky you have a habit of picking up strays.”

“What's that, Timbo?”

“I said, I'm lucky to have you around.”

That was not what he said, and they'll be talking about it.

Later.

When there isn't an FBI team listening in, Bruce tells himself, well aware the real issue is his inability to find proper words.

“I'm the lucky one, Timbo.” Bruce drops his socialite persona to speak with what he hopes will be understood as candid truth. “You're a hell of a son, even if I can't claim you as mine by blood or law.”

“That means a lot,” Tim says, eyes sliding to the bug.

“No, really. I know what the papers say, kiddo. They're right. I am clumsy, and forgetful, and a little bit of a disaster-”

“A little bit?”

“Hey now,” Bruce says cheerfully. “I resemble that remark.”

“I can't tell if you made that joke on purpose,” Tim lies, grinning.

Do you think Gray, Natsu , Erza and Wendy have accents like all came from different places and I headcanon Florian wasn’t any of their first languages so whenever they get emotional their accents come out and Lucy’s just like “ guys please I can’t understand what your sayin” but they can understand each other just fine.

Like that get ambushed on a mission and they all start swearing except only Lucy’s swearing in Fiorian and they get so angry after the missions complete and thier all complaining about it Lucy’s just completely lost because their accents are popping so hard.

i mostly just played around with what their accents would sound like rather than what you asked, so sorry🙏

Almost no one outside of who she grew up extremely close with can understand Erza when her accent pops out. Erzas accent is a mash up of a bunch of different ones, being raised in the tower with a bunch of people from various linguistic backgrounds does that, you could not pin point where shes from originally from speaking alone. When her accent pops her words can go anywhere from a clear-cut and concise, to a rolling drawl, to fast and choppy, it will give you whiplash

Natsu and Wendys accents are harsh and makes their words slur together heavily, sounds like theyre short-cutting their words as much as possible. Its meant for fast speaking.

Wendys accent is a different dialect of the average Fiorian one, the rhythm/structure of it flows similarly, but the pronunciation of letters are fairly different. When her accent comes out, her words probably the easiest to make out since (after Grandeeney) she was technically raised in Fioré, although that isnt saying much when compared to the other three.

Natsu, now Natsus accent is practically unintelligible at best, by the time you process what one word was, hes already moved on to another sentence, he could not slow down if he tried. Even if hes speaking a language youre fluent in, if his accent breaks through it sounds like a different language altogether.

Grays accent is sharp and sounds a little awkward, it can make him trip up on his words since Florian languages are faster and the sounds are shorter and an Isvani accent will put stress in unneeded places and is more drawn out. His accent is very, indecisive? the way he says words will change depending on where in the sentence they are or how he uses them. very inconvenient for anyone trying to understand him.

All of this very inconvenient for Lucy. Her first language is Florian, she knows a couple different languages fluently but holy shit, she should’ve brought her flash cards with her when she ran away. Although none of them wouldve prepared her for this

Wendys accent is heavy when shes upset for any reason, while Lucy is okay at understanding her (even if the pace makes her dizzy sometimes) she absolutely cant whenever she cries. Or when shes yelling, or if shes doing anything actually, Lucy has to pay very close attention to understand

Natsus pops at any given time, no real reason, but its like he purposely uses it when hes cursing someone out, he thrives on their utter confusion. If Lucy thought Wendys pace was dizzying, Natsus makes her feel like shes in a tornado.

Both Grays and Erzas come out mostly when they’re tired, during intense moments/emotions, or when they talk for a long time.

Lucy has given up on trying to understanding Erza, just sitting there in horrified facination as she successfully captured a part of every countries accent while also trying to use context clues because for some reason the others can understand her perfectly fine (so unfair)

Gray also sometimes uses his accent to confuse people, although he usually dabbles in the actual language than the just the accent cause its funnier that way. Lucy at this point has given up any sense of peace she’ll get to have ever, itll never happen around any of these fools

So far, Lucy thinks Wendys is the easiest to understand (which means its her favorite), Grays is the nicest to listen to (even if the sharpness of it makes it feel like hes about to yell), Erzas is the most confusing (literally what the fuck is it??), and Natsus pisses her off (she knows that mf uses it on purpose to make her confused)

Once they all started talking with their natural accent and Lucy thought she had a brain injury before staring blankly and wonder what her life has come to

the thing that drew me to him (and got me into milgram as a whole) in the first place was the fact that his songs go absolutely insanely hard. and theyre exactly my taste in music

hes an angry little guy and i am drawn to angry characters like a moth to a fucking flame, i have NO idea why, its facinating to me

i also think hes not actually THAT uhh aggressive with like. "people who do bad things are scum" i think he just played it up to fit in with his friends and then at some point he forgot he was playing it up if that makes sense.

playing off of THAT i have like 0 evidence for this but i know in my heart he didnt really have any friends at uni and when he started to kinda become friends with the group from bring it on he like changed himself to fit perfectly with them and it backfired horribly i just KNOW IT i have NO EVIDENCE but it HAPPENED TRUST ME . and that makes me insane also

Pancho

•Julien; Julien is like a brother or cousin to Pancho! He trusts the king more than anything after Julien basically saved .. well himself, but also him. any scheme Julien comes up with that he knows Maurice wouldnt approve of, he’ll go to pancho

•Maurice; maurice has a kind of wary vibe around Pancho ever since Pancho suggested eating him on the sub in exiled. he’s suspicious of him mainly because he wants to protect Julien tho, & he cant shake that Pancho is (or was) a sleeper agent programmed with the sole purpose of killing his best friend so

•Clover: Pancho is kinda cautious around clover since she’s always round the corner ready to bust him & Andy’s schemes. when it comes down to it they DO work together as they aknowledge each others skillsets. literally pancho is the only lemur (from the kingdom) who’s beaten Clover in combat. just once though.

•Mort; Pancho just......aknowlegdes his existance. he’s there i guess. doesn’t find mort as terrifying & creepy as the average citizen but Panch has probably seen worse. or he just doesn’t care. mort also does crimes so theyre just aware of each other.

•Becca & Abner; he’s kinda friends with them cus Andy’s friends with them. he goes round to deliver them stuff sometimes like moonshine or weapons from Andy. He probably shouldn’t pay too much attention to their government conspiracy theories though, they tend to really freak his paranoid ass out

•Timo; Timo is scared of Pancho or at least wary. He admittadly would like to study him tho & Panch is often a great help to him doing manual labour for any of Timo’s big projects

•Masikura; she mindmelded with him once & swore never again. she just doesn’t wanna know.

•Ted; Ted has a lil crush on Pancho (he’s one of Ted’s many crushes) & Panch will lightly flirt with him sometimes when he’s in the mood to. Pancho will bicker & grouch with him but they are really tight friends especially after their time together during exiled.

•Dorothy; at first she saw Pancho as this ideal bad boy type, but then realised how bad he smells cus he hates bathing. She’ll offer him tea like she does with everyone & (begrudingly often) lets him crash with her & Ted when they all stumble back drunk after a night out. Literally her & Ted both just have a mutual crush on Pancho is that not canon though

•Willie; despite being mean to Willie like EVERYONE ELSE IS Pancho and Willie are quite good friends. He’ll go stay with him whenever he’s worried about something cus he knows Willie will understand. sometime’s he’s too panicky for Pancho to be around though cus it sets him off

•Hector; I WANT THEM TO BOND OVER MILITARY HARDSHIPS & EXPERIENCE I THINK IT WOULD BE HELPFUL & HEALING FOR THE BOTH OF THEM! I should write about this sometime..........

•Horst; the DJ friend who he can always have a crazy sesh with; they actually get along pretty good. except when Pancho’s out here stealing his bolos. Like with everyone, Horst just rambles to Pancho when he’s drunk.

•Tammy, Butterfish & Todd; no real connection to them besides that him & Butterfish will often do the same jobs. They usually just make casual work chat. Tammy thinks Pancho is posessed by demons but he doesn’t let that phase him.

•Karl: he’s not rlly a “kingdom citizen” but he’s about there enough so. anyway Pancho just doesn’t treat Karl like the evil genius villain he portrays at all, since Pancho’s own morality is in the grey area, which kinda infuriates Karl that Pancho just talks to him like hes a normal person. he wants Julien’s people to FEAR HIM!!

•Dr. S; Absolutely not. they don’t even really have a friendship of any kind & Pancho is terrified of going to see the doctor as Dr. S literally experiments on lemurs...he’s not about that after what happened with the previous king.......Andy often has to drag him to the hospital kicking & biting to get him to go to checkups

•Nurse Phantom; u know what they’ve never interacted in canon but I think Nurse Phantom senses how troubled & anxious he is & takes a lot of time to talk to Pancho like if ever Andy or anyone else manages to drag him to the hospital, Rob will hold his hand if it comes to it; he goes into major helpful mode like offering him fruit & telling him he’s gonna be alright. He’ll also scold him for getting into so many dangerous scrapes & tells him he’s gotta look after himself!

Andy

•Julien; for some reason Julien just refuses to exile him even after all the bad shit he’s done BUT i think that’s because Andy is overall helpful to him like he ignores all the weirdness for example when they walked in on him & that rat holding a body wrapped in leaves because hey! we need tropheys Andy fast! thats the issue here!! perhaps its Julien’s awful adhd memory though & he just genuinely forgets. Julien is close with Pancho of course so Andy’s been round to the plane for parties & dinner as Pancho’s +1 of sorts— heck even he can be “polite” when he has to be.

•Maurice; Momo hates him. hates him hates him theres no turning back. i mean its hard not to when most of the citizens suffer from rediculous lemur stupidity & ur the only one who can see through this bat when he’s just standing there chatting shit. Very suspicious of Andy— plus he just thinks he’s creepy

•clover; LMAO bUT .....like obviously she hates him for good reason. but i do have this hc that’s way too long to write out that after Julien, Maurice & Mort literally fucked off to go with the zoosters in madagascar 2 Clover was literally responsible for two kingdoms cus she couldnt just leave them with a gecko in charge. I just want some situation where theres a proper twist & Andy ends up mellowing the hell out & actually being useful to her & the kingdom...he has skills but he uses them for nefarious reasons. She’d probably save his life somehow in the post-Julien chaos & he’d b like....”why would YOU of all people save ME?” n she’d b like... “well you are technically a citizen of this kingdom and ....i’ve gotta make sure you’re ALL safe for when ..... if King Julien ever gets back.....”

•mort; ??? sometimes theyre legit business partners. Mort can get in on a good scam. that second rub’s gonna cost ya. theyve probably been in the same prison before at one point. Mort’s so old.

•Becca & Abner; his fellow anti-establishment pals!! he doesn’t fully believe all of their ideas & theories but he loves em cus they’ll always buy self defence scorps off him. They get along & they drink a lot together by the stagnant watering hole. they’ve seen Andy in horrible states; all 3 of them are an idiot squad when theyre together. Becca & Andy argue a lot cus even she thinks some of the things he says are wack sometimes

•Timo; i have this hc that Timo, Andy & Karl knew each other when they were kids they kinda bonded together during school cus they were three non-lemur losers who got bullied for their eccentricity & varying levels of intelligence. Timo will sometimes go to Andy for stuff but he is his last resort really

•Masikura; probably mindmelded with him once & just saw a vision of him daydreaming about being kissed by Pancho & since then she was like. “Im not scared of the bird demon he’s just a big softie. where is my shipment of “ect” for my tea, that bird demon’s late again—“

•Ted; Ted is such an easy mark he can sell almost anything to him if he’s cheery enough. Helps that Ted thinks he’s really cute so Andy can just easily sweet talk him into buying whatever dodgy product he’s got at the moment. he knows & interacts with Ted mainly through Pancho being his friend!

•Dorothy; rlly wild hc actually that Dorothy used to be a propper crime don before she settled down with Ted— or when Ted was shifting into Snake more frequently back in the day for whatever reason—so Andy knows her from the criminal underworld. Cus of this he’s very respectful towards her... he’s seen what she’s capable of

•Willie; Andy could walk round the corner with his wings outstretched & say “boo” & Willie would pass out from shock. He’s also very easy for Andy to sell to- his fearmongering really works on Willie he’s very suseptable to it

•Hector; Hector doesn’t take any of Andy’s crap he’d probably just hit him with a broom if he came round his hut to sell him dodgy hand cream honestly

•Horst; Andy keeps him topped up with a steady supply of beverages...........Horst will actually sometimes ask him & Pancho for help with importing various new vinyl records

•Tammy, Butterfish & Todd; that family buys a LOT of product off him since they’re just typical americans basically he finds it rlly easy & reliable to sell stuff like drinks & toys to them. Tammy kinda hates Andy though & like Pancho, thinks he’s a demon. Doesn’t help that Mort nicknamed him “bird demon”.

•Karl; like with Timo i hc he knew him when they were in highschool—! Karl found Andy infuriating & so annoying though & didn’t consider him a friend at all. a lot of his early lazer guns were born from Karl’s growing need to shoot Andy out of the sky cus he’d fly up to get out of reach of his claws when he’d annoyed him.

•Dr. S; i hc that Andy and Dr.S are business or trading partners of sorts but they keep it very lowkey. Andy probably handles hits and the crazy snake doctor requires bodies and “test subjects” for his manic experiments. Andy is the perfect guy for the job! When Nurse Phantom is unable, Andy will hide the evidence of Dr.S’ malpractice for a reasonable fee, of course. He dislikes going to checkups himself though— he doesn’t like people knowing too much about him! Plus Dr.S always “””jokes””” about “””studying””” him because he finds the fact Andy is a flying mammal facinating & talks about using Andy’s wings to create a frankenstein flying lemur.

•Nurse Phantom; Rob just lectures him about being reckless & getting into fights everytime he sees him. Kinda the same as Dr. S really, but he does tell him like.. Hey I used to be pretty mean & put people in danger too. And that there’s always time to turn another leaf. Andy usually just scoffs, collects his paycheck, & leaves.
