y'know it doesnt get mentioned a lot but of all the motorsports there are, supercars is hands down the one where i see drivers stop to help each other out the most. shane van gisbergen stopping to help a sideways scott mclaughlin climb out of his car after that fucking diabolical gold coast chicane sent him flying and alex premat gently pulling an injured james courtney out of the wrong side after their collision concaved the drivers side and broke courtneys leg are two examples among a slew of others. its just really nice to see.

#supercars #motorsports #i recall a big one in the late 90s/2000s where a champion had a hard crash that sent him sideways on an opening lap #and a majority of the grid all stopped and got out of their cars to hold it steady while it was on its side to lift him out #i also like the premat and courtney clip just because after gently extracting courtney and placing him on the ground #alex gives james a few pats on his helmet like ''its all right mate. youre out n the medical car is coming''#theyre all very chill and very aus/nz #sidenote holy FUCK who designed the gold coast track #who puts curbs and chicanes that close to the pit lane its a wonder most incidents with them have been so benign #that multi car crash wouldve been REALLY bad if 1. less drivers had managed to dodge the stationary cars #2. the drivers who didnt dodge/crashed had decided not to help each other out/run off to grab fire extinguishers
